Buddie Countdown to Season 8b:

i am thinking thoughts about the photos in eddie’s house and buck’s loft. something something how both residences are merging into a home, which is simultaneously broken due to christopher’s absence. but also “this is eddie’s house, i’m not a guest here” applies to the loft. there are two physical residences, but there’s one home. buck and eddie are each other’s home, even though they are currently adrift. not only because chris is in el paso but buck and eddie aren’t on the same page, as seen in eps 6 and 8 (season 8); but they are reaching for the same goal. which is being together, with chris, and their home being whole again, whether metaphorically or physically (maybe the abysmal loft burns down, pls and thank u).

also, buck ran out of ingredients and decided to go to his other home to see if there was anything he could use. he also tells eddie “i thought i’d make us snickerdoodle cookies”. buck then finds out that eddie’s considering moving to el paso in order to be close to chris. buck ignores his own feelings and decides to be proactive, he’s going to help fix his home even if it means he doesn’t get to be a part of it. eddie’s confused but grateful, and he tells buck he’s going to get buck a coffee. it’s probably just me but it’s very domestic (yes it’s typical to provide guests/visitors drinks) but it’s like, “ok you’re gonna help me. sounds good. i’m in the kitchen so i may as well put the kettle on, i’ll bring you a drink and we’ll do this together”.

one more thing! there’s the madney wedding photo on eddie’s fridge, like the one on buck’s fridge, which is kinda ??? like yes it could be because it’s also buck’s house but maybe it’s a hint for eps 9/10. we know maddie is getting kidnapped. we barely have scenes with maddie and eddie so they’re probably not close (as far as we know), not like eddie and chim; and they’re co-workers slash close friends. but is that enough to warrant having a wedding pic of them on the fridge? maybe they’re actually important to eddie because they’re buck’s family. and eddie is family too, so chim and maddie mean a lot to eddie, more than what we’re shown in canon. i think it also implies a cheddie team up, because maybe it’s not just maddie who is in danger but buck too.

when we come back from hiatus there better be a scene where someone randomly stops the 118 in the middle of a call and points to chimney like “omg weren’t you that sexy doctor in that one scene from hotshots???” and chimney’s having the time of his life, he’s offering to take a selfie, autograph their stuff, etc. meanwhile buck and eddie are like “we were the nurses 😄” and the person is just like “…right 🤨” and goes straight back to chim.

eddie, on his quest to return to el paso because there is no hole too dark or too deep that will stop him from getting to chris, enters his landlord era and puts 4995 s bedford st up for rent. buck clears out his loft and obviously rents it because that’s also his house! it’s his fucking house! then eddie does come back with chris in tow. buck voice Eddie I’m so happy you’re back! Here’s your house I kept it warm for you while you were gone. eddie voice Thanks Buck. Wow it looks like you’re all settled in. buck voice Haha yeah I guess I’ll have to start apartment hunting huh? eddie voice Don’t be stupid Buck. I’m not kicking you out. You should stay here. This is your house too. buck voice Really? Are you sure? eddie voice I’m sure. As long as you’re okay with sharing the bed. buck voice I would love to share the bed. I mean I wouldn’t love it I would feel totally normal about it. Sharing the bed. That would be fine with me. If we did that.
