re: rugby team ghoap
it'd been a one-off, seize-the-moment kind of thing. casual hookups aren't really for you, plus you distinctly remember your ex prating on about how the team would only be here for the weekend hence the absolute burning need to go, and you've got work monday.
goodbye, great knowing them. you'd traipsed out of the hotel room with your sneakers in hand, soap's used jersey in the other- a memento of sorts, a trophy. mild serial killer behavior but you reckon since you just became another pearl in their long string of conquests, the least you could do is take something with you that won't be gone with a warm epsom salt bath and a couple of days rest.
("would ye believe yer the prettiest we've ever brought back with us?" right. you know where you stand on that scale, and people like you don't typically pull men like them. another cringe-worthy comment like that and you'd mistake their interest with pity.)
you'd put both jerseys in the wash later that day, and the rattling of your washing machine marked the end of your exciting weekend.
or so you'd thought. from your side of things, you'd wiped your hands clean of their sweat, spit and come and went home, once again falling back into semi-familiarity, expecting to go to work feeling completely relaxed and loose, in more ways than one, while ignoring the photos taken of you and the "star players" at the stadium on social media.
(no one caught your face, what bloody luck.)
when you see them again, it's by pure chance. you'd been ordering a sandwich at a deli down the street, hand already reaching for your wallet when an arm curls around your shoulders, dark, coarse hair of a forearm brushing against your cheek.
cedarwood and citrus. it clings to your senses— a sharp, tangy reminder of that time you'd only look back on when the familiar pang of want pooled searing hot between your legs. small world, you suppose.
"didnae leave a note. stole my jersey. 'm surprised ye didnae leave us money on the table, bonnie." warmth flared beneath your cheeks but you didn't cow to his crude joke.
"i suppose i could've left a tip. what do you want?"
the playful lines around his eyes smoothed as his lips straightened into a firm line, his eyes frostbitten. you ignore the way his touch makes you feel trapped, tethered, a cage made of velvet.
"took my shirt and then didn't show up to a single game after tha'. jus' gettin' wha' i'm owed. unless he's yer favorite."
how can he be your favorite when you know nothing about the sport they play and have no interest in knowing?
"too bad. we come as a package. get yer food, we've a place nearby."
(simon had been nowhere near as good-natured as johnny had about you leaving without a word. made you spit out apologies with swollen lips, only accepted the ones that came with a fluttering of your raw pussy around the splitting thickness of him while soap condescendingly cooed in your ear about lessons having to be learned the hard way.)
#love convenient things turning real inconvenient real fast#got insanely talented athletes huffing and puffing your house down because you didn't leave them a review on yelp#laswell had chewed their ass up and spit them out#dealing with the repercussions of their stupidity had been a fucking NIGHTMARE#she wont even ask if theyre dumb she already knows the answer#you think theyre sticking around til they gotta go again but then there you are#first class flight across the world sitting primly on simons lap#how are they supposed to win if their good luck charm is not with them?#ghoap x reader

Being friends with Anna was one of the worst things Bob had ever had to do. But being around her while still keeping his distance was better than the alternative, so he had to do it. When she texted him, he responded immediately, and he couldn't stop thinking about how much he'd like to hold her hand.
She was all smiles when he saw her again a few days later. This time, she was the one who invited him out for a cup of coffee on Saturday morning, and he jumped at the chance to go. After cancelling his breakfast plans with Mickey with the promise that he'd be at the bar before Dungeons & Dragons, he hopped in his truck and drove off to meet Anna.
He was early, but she was already there. "Hey, Bob," she said, waving to him from a small table near the back as he approached. She already had two drinks in front of her, and Bob's brow creased in something like annoyance as he made his way to her.
"I was going to pay for your coffee," he said, meeting her brown eyes as he dropped slowly into the empty seat.
"You paid the other day," she replied, sliding the hot tea a little closer to him. "Plus, you bought me two books."
All Bob could think about as he looked at her tentative smile was the fact that he wanted nothing more than to buy Anna every book she wanted for the rest of her life. Massive anthologies and slim romance novels and poetry collections and autobiographies... he wanted to get her every single one that sparked her interest. He wanted to catch her attention in just the same way literature did. He wanted to be what she curled up in bed with after a long day.
Bob cleared his throat. "Thanks for the tea, but next time I'm paying."
"Deal," she said softly before blowing on her hot coffee with another smile.
"Great. In that case, we can go out for an expensive lobster dinner," he told her with a little grin. "You already agreed."
Anna looked at him as she took a sip. "Is an expensive lobster dinner something friends would enjoy together?" she asked, cocking her head to the side.
Bob's heart started beating a little faster. "I think friends can do whatever they want."
She studied him for a moment before reaching into her tote bag and pulling out a book. "This is for you. It's from my own personal stash, so it's a little worn out, but I thought you might like to borrow it."
When he accepted the dog eared paperback copy of The Remains of the Day, her fingers brushed against his. "Thank you. I'll add it to my list of Dr. Webber recommendations."
She blushed slightly, and her hand went to her cheek as she said, "Dr. Webber. Sometimes I still can't believe I finished my doctorate after putting it on hold for so long."
Bob sipped his tea. "Why did you put it on hold? It's easy to see how much it means to you."
Anna chewed on her lip before she softly said, "I made some bad decisions, but I won't be doing that again. Do you want to split a croissant?"
----------------------------
"So," Jessica said, heaving a deep sigh at lunchtime on Monday. She looked like she had just received some devastating news, and when Anna glanced toward her other friend holding her tie dyed lunchbox, she found a similar expression on her face as well. "It's true? You and Bob are friends?"
"You don't have to say it like that," Anna replied, dropping down onto the bench between the two of them with the weird looking tree behind her. "You were the ones who encouraged me to make a new friend in the first place!"
"We thought you'd snap out of it after like ten minutes alone with him again," Advanced Calculus said as she bit into the pretty lunch that Bradley had clearly packed for her. "Poor Bob."
Anna scuffed the toe of her old, beat up shoe along the concrete in front of her as she sipped her can of ginger ale. "It's not like I'm some amazing option or something," she muttered, remembering how adorable he looked when she handed him her own book for him to borrow. "Bob could do better."
"Anna!" Jessica gasped. "Don't say that about yourself! It's simply not true! You're the best!"
Anna swallowed hard, embarrassment starting to fill her up as tears pricked the backs of her eyes. She wasn't used to being around anyone who said kind words to or about her. The fact that she almost couldn't handle hearing them was making her feel vulnerable. "I just mean... I'm not really emotionally available, so it would be in his best interest to stop returning my crush on him." She was fairly certain she wouldn't be able to stop her own feelings at this point.
The other two women were quiet for a beat, and Anna started to get nervous, but then there was a fancy container of veggies and some sort of dip being held out in front of her. She helped herself to a carrot stick as her friend finally asked, "Are you ready to talk about Kevin?"
She crunched hard into the carrot before saying, "I don't like to talk about cheaters."
Jessica made a disgusted sound and said, "That's probably half of the male population. But... I think it's safe to talk about Bob." Anna groaned, and Jessica quickly added, "Okay, fine, I'll stop now!"
"Kevin cheated on you?" Advanced Calculus said, cutting right to the chase. "What a fucking dick."
"Yeah," Anna whispered, wondering why this lunch meetup was becoming so emotional. "It went on for years, as far as I can tell. I was just too busy working and trying to stay above water to notice at first. He's... still with her. I think." But Anna knew the truth; all Kevin really did was find an upgrade and stick with her. He found another medical doctor with a thriving career, just like himself.
"Men are disgusting," Jessica said ferociously. "I was going through a bit of a rough patch when I met Jake, so keep your head up, okay? There are some good ones out there."
Anna snorted. "I think the two of you found the only good ones left."
"Nah. But I do think they might all be in the Navy."
--------------------------
Bob was surprised on Friday night when he got to the Hard Deck a little later than usual and found Anna there. The deep copper of her hair was illuminated by the lights above the pool table as she stood next to Jake, sipping a glass of ginger ale. She looked like she belonged here now, even though it was just her second visit, and when Bob got closer, he could hear her asking Jake about him.
"So everyone has a call sign? In the entirety of the United States Navy?"
"No," Jake replied with a chuckle. "Not everyone."
"And your call sign is Hangman? And Bradley's is Rooster?"
"That's right."
"What's Bob's?"
Bob smiled softly, enjoying the fact that she was asking about him without realizing he was standing right there. "It's just Bob," he said, making her jump a bit in surprise as she looked up and found him immediately with her dark eyes.
She examined him with a soft smile on her lips. "Just Bob. I think I like that better. I'd probably want to be just Anna if I had a call sign. Do you want to play pool with me? We can lose to Jessica together."
It took Bob a second to put everything together in his mind. Anna wasn't making fun of his call sign where everyone else usually would have been. And now she was holding out a pool cue toward him with a hopeful look on her face that was slowly starting to fade away as he stood motionless. "Yes," he finally said, reaching out to take it from her. Just like at the coffee shop, their fingers met briefly, and Bob just wanted to hold her hand in the worst way. And maybe try to count her freckles. And maybe kiss her. He cleared his throat. "I'd love to play. Losing to Jessica is so much fun."
"It's everyone's favorite way to spend a Friday night!" Jessica replied, brandishing a Sam Adams in one hand and a blue chalk cube in the other.
"No way, Smart Girl. I like what comes later even better," Jake replied, wrapping his arm around her waist, and Bob had to look away as he kissed his girlfriend. Jake had been talking about engagement rings in the locker room the other day, and Bob was sworn to secrecy.
He promised not to say anything. He wouldn't. The two of them belonged together, and Bob could tell how happy they would be, but he still felt nauseatingly jealous of their love. Especially when Jessica kissed Jake and whispered, "Save the dirty talk for later."
Bob's eyes found Anna's as she got the table set up. He was going to work really hard at this friendship thing, but someday when he inevitably saw her with another guy's arms wrapped around her, hugging her, he was certain he was going to have to excuse himself from her presence. But for now, all he could do was look at her.
"Do I have something on my face?" she asked, touching her cheek after she set the eight ball in place.
"Just a cute smile," Bob replied, and then he had the distinct desire to disappear as said smile grew a little bigger before she pressed her lips together. Clearly he couldn't be trusted not to make things weird. "Let's play."
They were about five minutes into the game when Bradley and his wife walked over, and Bob was really enjoying the way Anna accidentally bumped into him. Twice. But then he was reminded of the other topic of conversation that had been brought up in the locker room at work.
"Hey Bob, you still thinking about downloading a dating app?" Bradley asked him casually. Anna fumbled and dropped the blue chalk that she was holding. Bob picked it up and handed it to her, but she didn't even meet his eyes when she took it.
"Uh, I might," he replied, watching Anna miss her shot at the nine ball by a mile. Bradley and Jake were the ones who mentioned the app to begin with, and when Bob showed the slightest bit of interest, they ran with the idea. "Still undecided."
"I can help you make a profile," Bradley said, clapping him on the shoulder. "You'll just have to let me know if you'd rather find your soulmate or be knee deep in as much pussy as you can handle."
Bob felt his cheeks warm up as Bradley's wife smacked him on the chest and told him to be quiet. When he chanced a glance at Anna, she was already looking at him with wide, brown eyes. Truthfully, Bob kind of wanted to find his soulmate and be getting a lot of pussy, but just from that one person.
"Can we talk about this later?" he muttered, sinking the nine ball for his team when it was finally his turn.
"Sure. We can download it later," Bradley said with a smirk that didn't quite sit well with Bob. That wasn't what he meant at all, and now Anna wasn't even looking at him. It took him bringing her another glass of ginger ale for her to even acknowledge he was still there.
"Thanks," she said softly as she took it from him. They'd been trounced by Jess and Jake, and now they were standing off to the side together. "You know," she added, "if you download a dating app, you'd probably get a lot more attention if you put up a photo of you in your uniform. Or one of those jumpsuit things."
Bob shook his head and looked at his feet. "You'd swipe right?" he asked before he could think better of it.
Anna laughed and said, "Honestly? I'd swipe right if you were wearing your Dungeons & Dragons shirt."
Once again, he didn't know what to say. She only wanted to be friends with him, but this was the second time she told him she found him attractive. "It's called a flight suit," he said, waiting for her to meet his eyes. When she did, she looked confused. "Not a jumpsuit."
She smiled again at the clarification. "Well, whatever they are, I like them. And the call signs. Especially yours. You seem like you don't need a lot of fancy stuff. Just Bob."
"Just Bob," he whispered. He didn't need anything fancy, but right now he sure wanted Anna.
--------------------------
On Tuesday at lunchtime, Anna was the first one to the bench, and she had to sit there awkwardly and hope that her friends showed up. She could be back in her office, alone, thinking about what she wanted to do in her next Feminist Literature lecture. She was about to text them when she glanced up as Jessica's glasses reflected the bright sunlight, and both women were heading her way. Then she saw her beat up copy of The Remains of the Day held in the same hand that was holding the tie dye lunchbox.
"This is from Bob. He gave it to Bradley to give to me, and I had to promise to give it to you."
Anna took the book from her and whispered, "Thank you." Had Bob already finished reading another of her recommended books? Was he really this perfect? That's when she noticed there was a slip of paper peeking out between the pages, and she barely heard her two friends talking as she pulled it out.
Anna,
You really need a bookmark. All of the dog eared pages made me feel terrible for this poor book as I read it. I enjoyed the story immensely, but seriously, you need to stop folding the pages over to save your spot. Unless it was your intention to bring an element of horror into the tale? If so, well done. Also, now that I have your attention, do you feel like grabbing a drink on Thursday evening? We could go to Chippy's and eat some of the best peanuts in the world. Just text me and let me know.
Bob
She whimpered softly. Everything this man did delighted her. She wanted to recommend a dozen more books to him if it meant she could have one more little handwritten note to tuck away. Or to use as the bookmark that would keep him from stressing out about the pages.
"Earth to Anna," Jessica said, waving a hand in front of her face and making her finally look up.
"Bob asked me to go to Chippy's with him," she blurted out, holding the note tight in her hand.
"Oh!" Advanced Calculus gasped. "You should go!"
"No," Advanced Physics whined. "That was supposed to be a girls' night outing!"
"I want her to go. It's the only thing that will get Bob off the dating app. I can't believe Bradley brought that up in the first place. He doesn't know a damn thing about it."
"I want her to go with us for the first time!"
Anna looked back and forth between the two of them, that familiar whiplash feeling returning as they argued with her in the middle. But in the meantime, she got her phone out and texted Bob.
If we go to Chippy's without Jessica, I think she might have a fit.
Bob must have been on his lunch break as well, because he wrote back a minute later while the two of them were still arguing.
Bob Floyd: All the more reason to do it, really.
Anna laughed quietly as she told him about her office hours on Thursday, promising to meet him for some life changing peanuts at 7:15. Then she put her phone away and announced, "I'm going with Bob. The three of us can go to Chippy's on a different night."
Jessica looked mildly annoyed while her other friend looked smug and said, "Get him off the dating app. Those women will eat that sweet man alive."
But Anna knew she couldn't and shouldn't even try to do anything about that. Friends were supposed to be supportive of each other, and Bob was her friend. Just her friend. But when she thought about how much attention he was probably getting, it just made her so sad. She could have had that. She could have been the one with his beautiful eyes focused on her while she inhaled his delicious scent.
Maybe she'd just make one quick comment about the app when they were together. "I'll see what I can do."
---------------------------
Of course Bob would get dismissed early on Thursday when he had nothing better to do than wait around until it was time to go to Chippy's with Anna. He skipped the locker room shower, opting to head home to get ready instead, and it looked like Jake and Bradley were of a similar mind as they walked out to the parking lot at the same time as him.
"You said you'd share your lasagna recipe," Bradley said, annoyance laced in his voice. "Sugar really likes it."
"I said I would think about it," Jake replied smoothly. "It's not like you need help getting laid. It's not like you're Bob. No offense, Bob."
He just sighed and glared at the blonde. "I don't need help getting laid."
"Sure, pal," Jake replied as he approached his truck. "But I'll give you a free tip anyway. I'm going to go home and shower and pack up dinner. Then I'm going to stop and get some flowers for Jess, because girls like that shit. Then I'm going to her office hours where the combination of a homemade meal and pretty flowers will have her pulling her panties off as soon as I walk in."
"Please," Bob moaned. His stomach turned at the thought of Jessica, who made up a ridiculous voice for her D&D character, removing any article of her clothing. "Please stop. She's my friend."
"So is Anna," Bradley said with a smirk. "Did you download Tinder yet? Or are you going to stop and get some flowers and man up before you go to Chippy's?"
He didn't know how to explain to them that the last thing he wanted to do was push her away, and he was almost certain that a romantic gesture like giving her flowers would do just that. He also wished he hadn't even told them that he and Anna were going to Chippy's together. It was another excuse to see her, sure, but he was convinced she'd really like the peanuts.
"I have it under control," Bob muttered, passing Bradley's Bronco and heading for his own truck. Anna told him she'd made some bad decisions in her life, and he wanted to know more. Maybe going out tonight would be a way for her to open up to him a little bit. He knew from real life as well as some of the books he read that love could be built on solid friendships, but he tried not to tell himself that something like that could work out for him. Friendship was enough.
"Robert!" Suzanne called from her open front door as he walked up the path. "You're home early."
"Hey, Suzanne. Yeah, got out early today."
"You know what you should do, Robert? You should spend this extra time getting on a dating app."
He paused with his key in the lock of his own front door and listened to the game show that she was watching as the sound filtered outside. "Thanks so much for that amazing idea, Suzanne. Have a great night."
It didn't take him too long to get ready, and while he definitely didn't want to show up at Chippy's with a bouquet of flowers, he came up with another idea. A better idea. And if he could manage to locate Anna's office in the English building, he would meet her there.
---------------------------
Anna had one student show up to her office hours, and even then, it was just so he could complain about how they were only reading 'books by girls' in English 522.
"It's Feminist Literature," she explained slowly. "The main themes and topics revolve around equality of the sexes and advocacy for women's rights. The female point of voice is what we are exploring this semester."
"But why is it all chicks? I don't really like these books."
She sighed and said, "Everything has been on the syllabus since the first lecture, and I haven't deviated from it. If you don't think you can handle it, then I suggest your drop the class."
When he finally left, she groaned and put her head down on her desk. Just a few more minutes, and she could go meet Bob. Bob Floyd. The man who read books by authors of every kind. The man who would probably enjoy sitting in one of her lectures. The man of her dreams.
"Fuck you, Kevin," she whispered before picking her head up and fixing her braid. When there was another knock on her door, she jumped in her seat. "Come in!"
And then there he was, pushing the door open and filling up her tiny office with his broad shoulders and handsome features. Bob smiled at her, and she immediately believed everything would be okay forever. "Hi," she whispered, standing up behind her desk, the large piece of furniture the only thing between them now. "Bob."
Then her eyes dipped down as he held out his hand. "These are for you." He was holding a six pack of ginger ale cans, and it was then that the smell of clean soap and hot tea invaded her senses. "An office warming gift."
"You're sweet," she said softly, and he smiled as she accepted the treat from him. "Thanks."
He just shrugged and looked around the room. "Nice place you got here."
Anna laughed. "You don't have to lie about it. You're tall enough that you could touch that wall with your hand and the opposite wall with your foot at the same time," she said, pointing from one side of the space to the other.
"It's still nice," he told her as he adjusted his glasses. "You must have two hundred books in here. And it smells like a library. And bread?"
She nodded and said, "That's because I'm near the cafeteria. You get used to it."
Bob's laughter and genuine smile had her whole body clenching. "Smells better than jet fuel. You ready to go to Chippy's?"
"Yeah." It came out like a whine. This felt like a date. She wanted it to be a date. She wanted to live in an alternate universe where she could feasibly date someone. As she set her ginger ale cans down and picked up her office key and tote bag, she started to make her way to the door. When she stopped, Bob bumped into her, his hands landing on her waist.
"Sorry," he muttered, and he put some space between their bodies immediately.
"It's okay," she replied, pulling the door closed and locking it. Anna couldn't control the thundering of her heart as they walked side by side down the hallway and stepped outside into the cool, evening air. What was she supposed to talk about with her friend Bob when she just kept thinking about his hands on her body? She cleared her throat as they walked quietly down the sidewalk toward the bar. "Did you wear your jumpsuit at work today?"
Bob's smirk made her giggle. "Flight suit, Anna. For someone who has a bunch of friends in the Navy, you could really use a tutorial. And yes, I did wear my flight suit."
She bit her lip and tried to picture him in it. "I liked your khaki uniform with all the pins on it."
His brow scrunched up as he looked at her, leading the way toward Chippy's. "When did you see my service khakis?"
Oh shit. She'd been staring at the selfie he sent from the bookstore so frequently, she just outed herself. "Um. You sent a picture to me. A while ago."
His features smoothed out as he held the bar door open for her to walk past him. "Right." His voice sounded a little deeper as she passed him. "Forgot about that."
She sure hadn't, and she never ever would. Scrambling for something to say as she walked across the sticky floor littered with peanut shells toward a group of students drinking beers, she blurted out, "I thought all Naval uniforms were navy blue."
When he pulled out a stool for her at a high top table, she took a seat. His voice was close to her ear as he said, "Your tutorial begins now. Can't have you embarrassing yourself like this next time you come to the Hard Deck. You want a beer?"
She wasn't much of a drinker, and the last thing she needed was something that would amplify the way her heart felt like it was beating erratically right now, but she simply nodded. Then Bob disappeared, leaving her really wondering what this tutorial might include. She tracked his movements back toward the bar where an older man with a deep scowl on his face started to reach for two pint glasses. Bob pulled his wallet out of his snug pocket, and Anna was too distracted to realize that he was paying for something for her. Again.
"Damn it," she groaned, realizing how quickly she was slipping tonight. She wanted Bob to explain in great detail everything about the United States Navy while she ate peanuts. She wanted to feed him some and let her fingertips brush his lips. "Stop it." He was returning to the table now, and she watched as two women at another table pointed at him subtly. He was so attractive, and the way he was carrying two full glasses cupped in one big palm left her dizzy.
"Here you go," he said, handing her one of the beers along with a big dish of peanuts. "Best peanuts in San Diego. I swear."
Anna took one and smashed it open as she said, "I'll be the judge of such things." Bob looked really sure of himself as he sat down opposite her, and as soon as she tasted it, she knew he was right. It was roasted to perfection with just the perfect amount of salt. "Oh, god."
"Told you," he replied, reaching into the dish for a few. "But don't tell Penny I said that. I don't want to break her heart."
And that was just thing about Bob. Anna would have believed him if he said he never wanted to break anyone's heart. His fingers brushed against her as they both reached for more peanuts at the same time, but he ended up scooting them a little closer to her.
"There are some that are navy blue," he said, his eyes bright behind his glasses. "Uniforms, that is."
"I knew it!"
"But we hardly ever wear them," he added with a soft smile. "We wear the white ones even less frequently."
"White ones?" Anna asked as she took a sip of her beer, eyes fixed on Bob's fingers as he worked a peanut out of the shell. She could write poetry about his hands, they were just that graceful and strong looking. He was talking, but she could barely keep up with the conversation, and when she set her beer down, it was half empty.
"But that's just when I fly with Phoenix," he was saying. "I've been getting tossed around from pilot to pilot recently, which I hate. But my flight suits are what I wear the most, followed by my khaki uniform."
"It looked nice on you," Anna whispered loudly, surprised that she said it out loud. Again.
"You said that before," Bob replied, his cheeks flushed a delicious shade of pink. Would he feel warm to the touch? Why was it so hot inside Chippy's? Why did Anna agree to come here without the girls?
She wiped her sweaty palms on her pants, wishing she wasn't so awkward. "Why did you study aviation? You seem like you'd have been a spectacular English major."
Bob shrugged. "A free ride to the Naval Academy is prestigious enough that you just don't turn that down. Where did you get your PhD?"
Anna hated answering this question, but she'd be honest with Bob. "I started out at Princeton, but it was expensive, and I decided to use my money for... other things. I finished at a state school. A New Jersey state school."
"But you finished," he said with a smile as she gulped down the rest of her beer in one go. "You've got more letters after your name than I do."
Anna laughed, because he wasn't wrong. "But you've got more letters before your name than I do. Lieutenant Floyd."
"No, I don't," he said easily. "Dr. Webber."
"Shit," she croaked, really feeling the beer now. "You're right. That sounds so badass."
"It is badass," he promised as Anna's head swam with warmth and desire and contentment. He cracked open another peanut, slipping it between his parted lips. She leaned in a little closer, and his eyes went wide at what she said.
"Did you download a dating app? I don't think you should. The guys don't know what they're talking about, and you don't really need it. You could get anyone."
Bob studied her as she tried to keep her expression neutral, fingers spinning her empty glass around nervously in front of her. "No," he said slowly. "I didn't download an app. If I'm being honest, I think I'm still hung up on the idea of meeting someone and falling for them naturally. Like accidentally bumping into them in a bookstore." Her mouth went dry as he softly said, "That's kind of what I always wanted."
It was her. She was the one he bumped into before they even knew they had mutual friends. She was that girl from the bookstore. Why couldn't she have this? She wanted it, too! And now he thought she didn't.
"It's okay," he said before finishing off his beer. "We can be friends." He set the glass down, and Anna felt his gaze move from her lips up to her eyes. "You ready to go?"
"Yes," she whispered, slowly reaching for her things. "Thanks for the beer."
Bob shrugged as he helped her down from the stool. "Any excuse to come to Chippy's."
As they walked past the clusters of students on their way toward the door, Anna waved to the bartender. "Does he always look that cranky?"
"Ol' Chippy? Yes. Always."
She made a point to wave a little more vigorously as Bob's hand found her side and guided her outside while she laughed. "Sorry, I'm a bit of a lightweight, and now it's my goal to get him to laugh."
"I have a feeling you'll be working on that mission for a while," Bob said close to her ear. "Are you drunk?"
"No," she whispered. "Just silly."
Bob couldn't seem to help himself as he chuckled and led her along the sidewalk with one hand resting softly between her shoulder blades. "I don't really know what that means yet when it comes to you, Anna. Let me drive you home."
"Okay. It's not far," she replied, trying to imagine what it would be like if Bob ever saw the inside of her tiny apartment as she rattled off her street address. She climbed into his truck with a little bit of help, and then he reached for her seatbelt before pausing and placing it in her hand.
"Buckle up," he told her as she stared down into his face.
"I will," she said slowly, narrowing her eyes. "If you promise not to download that app."
His lips twitched into a smile. "You have my word."
Bob walked around the front of his truck before climbing in and starting up the engine. He played with the radio dials while he drove as Anna breathed in her surroundings. Everything smelled good in here where Bob's fresh soap scent seemed to blend with the tang of jet fuel. She had to press her thighs together as she imagined running her nose along the front of his flight suit before he got himself cleaned up after a shift at work.
"Oh no," she whispered as Bob pulled up to a red light a few streets from where she lived. Sky Writing's poetry swirled around in her mind, and she was afraid she might have whispered the words out loud when Bob turned and looked at her in surprise.
"What did you just say?" he asked, eyeing her closely.
She thought about the words she had memorized once again. Passion pulses through my veins like a wild river. Binding me to you in a dance of fire.
"Nothing," she told him as the car behind his truck honked, still sitting after the light turned green.
When he parked at the curb in front of her building, he turned toward her with curious eyes and whispered, "I thought you said-"
But Anna had reached her limit with Bob. She released her seatbelt and leaned toward him, feeling more and more sure of herself the closer she got to his mouth. Then she pressed her lips gently to his and whimpered as she kissed him. Bob reached out and ran his graceful fingers along her cheek, and Anna melted into him before he abruptly pulled away.
"Anna. I don't think this is something friends do," he croaked, voice raspy enough that she was forced to consider that she just kissed him.
"I'm so sorry," she gasped, hauling herself back across the seat and throwing the door open. "I'm so sorry, Bob."
--------------------------
I can't decide if that was a mistake or not on Anna's part. But the longing got to be too much for her. She wants him badly. I hope she doesn't go into hiding. Thanks @mak-32 and @beyondthesefourwalls

"I'm giving you this summer now"
&team reaction - summer love
Pairing: &team x gn!reader
Genre: fluff, sligh angst
Warnings: drinking in K's; not proofread (I'm still lazy)
Note: yes, I have requests I still need to write, but as the summer is coming to an end, I wanted to write something like this; english is not my first language if there's any mistakes please let me know!
Masterlist
K
After your first meeting you never tought you would meet again. You first met at a party, both of you were a little tipsy and danced until you could barely stand anymore. Although, you believed you'd never see him again two days later you met him at a store and while you had no intentions of talking to him it seemed like he tought differently and asked for your number. You found it weird but at the same time curiousity grew inside of you and you couldn't stop it. So you ended up on a date with him that night and it was surprisingly good. At first sight you tought that he's just a guy who just wants to hookup, but he was actually interested in you, he was funny and incredibly charming. So after that date you found yourself on an another one with K, and it was followed by the next one and so on. He made that summer the best you've had so far, and both of you decided to make the fall at least as great.
Fuma
You have never been in a relationship before. And it started to get scary because it's been so long. All of your friends who are the same age had already gone out with at least one person but not you. This led to you thinking that there might be something wrong with you. You were often alone, walking in the city, admiring the settling sun. That's exactly what you were doing the day you met him. Fuma. The most perfect man ever. It was almost unbelievable that nobody wanted you before and suddenly he showed up. Tall, strong, handsome, charming voice asking for your number. It was pretty late, the sun going down, but the summer breeze is still hot. Despite that, you shivered when he said he'll call you. And he did. And he made this summer the best of all by making you feel loved in a way you never experienced before.
Nicholas
You loved being a tour guide. You were always good at learning languages and to use that to show others the beautiful parts of your hometown was a dream of yours that you finally achieved. It was the beginning of summer but you already took numerous groups on a great tour. But this group was different. Not even the group itself, but a certain someone. A beautiful man with strawberry coloured hair, almost cold eyes but with the warmest smile you've ever seen. You tried not to stare at him too much, but he was so captivating that your eyes longed for the sight of him. As the tour ended you were actually glad you don't have to see him again, because even if he would found you attractive (which you tought was impossible) starting to date with a foreigner would be complicated. But as you were packing your stuff, ready to leave, a voice pulled you out of your thoughts. "Hi! Loved the tour. I'm Nicholas, here's my number. I'm going to be here all summer if you'd like to go out sometime" You don't even know why you accepted it. If you start to have strong feelings for him, saying goodbye at the end of the summer will be the hardest thing for you. But he was too charming to reject.
EJ
You always loved kids. Probably that's why you volunteered to help at a summer camp. The only thing you never tought would happen there is finding the most beautiful man you've ever seen. When you first went to the camp on Monday to prepare some games for the kids you found help in a tall, brown haired individual called Euijoo. He was incredibly kind to you, making small conversations everytime you had to work on something together. Small conversations turned into deep talks everyday after all the kids left and you finished cleaning. Just sitting on the stairs, eating some leftover food, talking about everything and nothing. By every passing day you found yourself liking him more and more. On Friday he asked you out for dinner, proving that he felt the same.
Yuma
What is better than a vacation with your friends spent in a different country? Obviously nothing! That's what you and your friends tought when you booked a hotel in Japan for the whole summer. You just wanted to take a long, deserved break before college starts again. And next to the beautiful hotel you were staying at was an amazing cafe where you could get your morning coffee. That's where you met him. Beautiful hair, beautiful skin, shining eyes. It took him a week until he gave you his number and asked you out. He introduced himself as Yuma, and he was living close to where you were staying. So every single minute when you weren't with your friends, you were with him. The only problem was when the time of your departure came closer and closer. By that time both of you fell for each other. You couldn't beleive that you had to end it here, leaving him just as the summer leaves too. But you want to try, you beleive in your feelings. So maybe it will work for the two of you. Maybe....
Jo
Why did it take you so long? You started working with him at the beginning of summer. You shifts almost always the same. Both of you being introverts, at first you barely even talked to each other, but as time passed by, work getting more and more boring, conversations started to spark between you two. He was quite. A cute smile on his face. Shy. But when you talked, you felt like he understands you like nobody else in this world. So why did it take you so long? Why didn't you go to grab an ice cream after the first time you had a good talk? Why didn't you asked him out right after you realised you had feelings for him? Why didn't you kiss him right away when his lips looked so inviting? Why did you have to wait for so long. Now there's barely two weeks left of summer, and by the end of it, he'll be gone. He's moving away for university. You love each other. You did this whole time. If only one of you would have been braver, you could have had the whole summer to make memories, to kiss, cuddle, live like two young people in love. So why did it take you so long....
Harua
That day seemed like a nice day for a walk alone. However, the hot weather left you in need of something cold. That's when you decided to go and buy some ice cream. You were about to make an order when you looked at the guy who was giving out the ice cream. He looked at you with the brightest smile you have ever seen, brown hair falling perfectly on his forehead, eyes scanning you from head to toe. The mutual attraction at first sight was obvious. After you asked for the flavours of ice cream you wanted you were just about to pay when he suddenly told you to wait a little. He quickly found a pen on a table close to him and wrote something on a napkin that he gave you after you payed the price of your cold sweet. "My name is Harua. That's my number, maybe you can call me, if you want to. My shift is over at eight."
Taki
When the two of you first met, you were on a vacation with your friends. You were walking on the beach when a guy came to all of you. He seemed nervous and a little embarrassed that he had to speak infront of all of your friends but he tought you looked amazing and if he didn't ask for your number he would be regretting it for the rest of his life. "Hi my name is Taki" he started and looked directly in your eyes "I think you look really good and... Would it be okay if you gave me your number?" You were shocked. You didn't expect someone to be so straightforward, but you found him interesting and cute, of course, so you did give him your number. And he called you that evening asking you out for the next day, and after that date you had to admit, that giving him your number was one if the best decisions you've ever made.
Maki
Although the two of you went to the same school for years, you were never really close. You barely even talked. Until you got a project together nearly the end of your last year. While working on it you realised how much interest you both share and you started to hang out. As friends. But both of you started to have stronger feelings for the other. And, being the brave man he is, at the beginning of summer he asked you out on a proper date. It didn't take long for you two to start dating. It seemed normal, like nothing could separate you two. Until you saw that both of you were accepted to your chosen university. It would be a good thing, if only they weren't in completely different countries. But still, you decided to make the most out of the summer: spending all your free time together, going on your dream dates, sharing sweet love confessions. You even started to think that things can still work. It's just a few years spent thousands of kilometres away from each other. Your relationship can survive that....right?

Dan Pfeiffer at The Message Box:
Poring through the aftermath of a brutal defeat, Democrats are now in their worst position in at least 20 years. Republicans have the White House and the Senate and an excellent chance to capture the House. Trump is only the second Republican since 1988 to win the popular vote, and he made huge gains across the country, building a multi-racial working-class coalition.
For many of you, I imagine this is painful to read. Trust me. It is even more painful to write. Most of my career has been spent within the machinery of the Democratic Party. I worked in the White House and Senate leadership. I worked for Democratic governors and other party organizations. It pains me to see the party in this state of disfavor only eight years after Barack Obama left the White House. The coalition that Obama built has crumbled. There are millions of reasons why we are in this position — COVID, inflation, an unpopular President, several political miscalculations, and a failure to adapt to a changed media environment. Ultimately, I am less interested in how we got into this mess than in how we get out of it.
The press continues to second-guess and Monday-morning quarterback various tactical decisions of the Harris campaign. I am also not particularly interested in that debate. Two things can be true at the same time. Kamala Harris ran a great campaign in a brutal political environment under an impossible timeline, and Democrats just got their ass kicked by a failed President and convicted criminal who could have been sentenced to jail if he lost the election. Where Democrats go from here is a conversation that will be an ongoing part of this newsletter in the months to come. There is no singular or simple answer, and many strawman arguments are being offered up on Twitter and cable. The solution is more complex than being more left or centrist or less woke. I don’t have the answers. Like the rest of you, I am still processing what happened on Tuesday. As part of my personal therapy, I wanted to do a bit of brain dump on the road ahead for Democrats as we confront another four years of Trump.
1. Recognize the Scale of the Problem
On one level, Trump’s win isn’t that big. His popular vote margin will end up being lower than Hillary Clinton’s when she lost the Presidency. This was far from a landslide. It looks nothing like Reagan’s victories in 1980 and 1984 or Obama’s win in 2008. But we shouldn’t sugarcoat the size and scope of Trump’s victory. Trump improved on his 2020 performance nearly everywhere in the country and with every type of voter. There was a six-point shift to the right in the country from 2020. Trump did 10 points better in Democratic strongholds like New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. He gained ground with men, women, Latinos, Black voters, and voters under 30. If the GOP can maintain that coalition post-Trump, Democrats will have no shot at the White House or the Senate for the foreseeable future. We are in a deep hole, and because of that, it is essential that we contemplate radical solutions about how we communicate, campaign, and govern. Every option should be on the table and every prior should be questioned. Yes, it was a brutal political environment, but this failure was a long time in the making.
2. Understand Why We Keep Losing on the Economy
Post-COVID inflation is the biggest factor in this election. It’s why incumbent parties all over the world have been getting slaughtered in election after election. It’s almost impossible to win an election when, according to the exit polls, 68% of voters rate the economy negatively, 75% say inflation caused them harm, and only 24% of voters say their financial situation is better off than four years ago. But if Democrats just blame inflation for voter distrust on the economy, we will be whistling past the graveyard. Democrats have lost economically-focused voters in every election since 2012. Even in the 2018 and 2022 midterms, which saw huge Democratic gains, we lost the voters who said the economy was their top issue by an average of 36 points!
President Biden passed a bunch of very consequential and popular policies. Yet, his ratings on the economy worsened over time. While I think we should revisit our policy agenda to look for new, bolder ideas that better speak to people’s concerns, this is largely not a policy problem. It’s a brand problem. When you do a blind taste test, our policies are more popular. This is why ballot initiatives like raising the minimum wage and allowing collective bargaining often pass in very Red states where Democrats have no chance of winning elected office. On economic issues, Democrats have a cultural problem; regardless of our policies, voters in the toughest economic situations simply don’t think Democrats care about them, and they haven’t since Barack Obama left office. Republicans have done an excellent job — with some inadvertent help from Democrats — branding our party as the party of elites even though the GOP standard bearer is a wannabe billionaire who offers tax cuts to other billionaires in exchange for campaign contributions. There is little question that we would benefit from more full-throated populism.
3. Close the Communications Chasm
Democrats are losing the information war. Trump and the Republicans are relentlessly communicating their narrative to a wide swath of the electorate, while Democrats are mostly still playing by an old set of rules. The Right is dominating the information space. In the battleground states where Democrats could spend more than a billion dollars communicating to voters on TV and digital platforms, Trump gained three points over his 2020 performance. In the rest of the country, which saw no paid Democratic messaging, Trump gained six points. This means that Democrats got absolutely battered in earned and social media. An average American who just turned on their TV or unlocked their phone or tablet was getting much more pro-Trump and anti-Democratic messaging. This situation is not unique to the Harris campaign. It’s been a problem for Democrats for more than a decade. Democrats cannot reach the wide swath of voters who don’t actively consume political news. According to polling from Data for Progress, here’s the statistics showing how people voted based on the amount they paid attention to political news:
a great deal: Harris +8
a lot: Harris +5
a moderate amount: Trump +1
a little: Trump +8 -
none at all: Trump +15
If you read the New York Times or watch CNN, Democrats know how to reach you. The problem is that we already have those voters. It's very clear that most of Democratic communications is a circular conversation with the people who already agree with us on everything. The rest of the electorate can’t hear us. They are getting no countervailing information to counter the Right Wing caricature of Democrats. Because of Fox News and other Right Wing outlets, Republicans have long had an asymmetric media advantage. However, in recent years, Right Wing messaging has come to dominate non-political online spaces centered on topics like comedy, gaming, gambling, and wellness.
Most Democrats continued running the same communications playbook for the entire Trump era despite massive changes in the media ecosystem. We haven’t incubated our progressive political media enough nor have we been willing to go into the non-political spaces where the most critical segment of voters are getting their info.
Dan Pfeiffer has yet another home run column on how the Democrats can roar back from their shock 2024 losses.

a/n : first jj fic! this is mostly unedited, so sorry in advance. this fic was totally not inspired by a nostalgic bridget mendler song hope you enjoy <3 requests are open
notes/summary : you’re grounded and stuck reading romeo and julliet when a certain visitor tries to get your attention from your window. | jj x f!reader, fluff, no spoilers for obx3
word count : 833
masterlist
being grounded was not supposed to be a part of your weekend plans.
well, to be fair, it wasn’t the most prudent decision-making on your part either; sneaking in late from a party at the beach, drunk. especially on a school night too.
not your proudest moment, being caught red-handed by your parents as you tried and miserably failed to sneak into your bedroom window.
which is why you are here now- confined to the comfort of your home for the next two weeks. oh, and no electronics either.
phone? gone. laptop? also gone. hell, they even found your spare ipod from middle school in one of your drawers, so even your last resort is poof-gone.
so instead of being out with the rest of the pogues on another great adventure, you’re stuck, sitting at your bed catching up on reading romeo and juliet of all books for your english project due on monday.
you have to admit, it’s not the worst play your english teacher could’ve assigned. even with all the odd old-timey lingo, you’re still somewhat interested; likely because of the fact you hardly have anything else to entertain you, but still.
halfway through romeo’s sappy romantic monologue, you hear a loud clunk against your window. your gaze shoots up from the book up to the glass, contemplating whether to let it slide or get up to investigate.
you choose the former, too comfortable on top of your freshly made bed to set the book down and drag yourself over just to find nothing.
with a sigh, you restart the sentence you left on just to be interrupted once again by another thump coming from your window.
probably the gutter you think, until you see a pebble make contact with the aperture.
you push yourself up and trudge across the room.
your forehead presses against the cool glass whilst you try to find the source of the stones before you recognize the vague outline of someone standing in your front yard.
sliding the latch open, you lean against the ledge and stick your head out.
“hey! what do you think you’re-“
your sentence fades as your eyes meet jj’s, a big grin spread across his face.
another pebble lands on top of your roof and ricochets back onto your driveway.
“you weren’t answering our texts!” he shrugs, “someone had to make sure you didn’t die.”
you roll your eyes, combing your fingers through your hair. “jeezus j! wait there.”
you quickly paddle down the stairs, simultaneously thanking all the gods that your parents were fast asleep at this time of night. you open the back door and gesture for jj to come in, bringing a finger up to your lips.
“you could’ve woken my parents up,” you chastize while half whispering-half yelling at him as he strides in, chuckling.
“you had me worried, sweetheart.”
the use of your pet name makes your frustration dim slightly. you let out a small sigh-and even though you find it impulsive of him to be throwing literal rocks at your window in the middle of the night- you can’t help but be relieved to see him here.
you shut and lock the door to your bedroom as jj collapses onto your mattress, landing right on top of your open copy of the play.
“ow fuck,” he exclaims, jumping into a sitting position. he rubs at his hip where there's surely to be a bruise tomorrow from the point of the book. “what was that?”
you roll your eyes again, relaxing back onto your bed beside him with your cheek resting on your hand.
“shakespeare.”
jj snorts, picking up the book and placing it on your side table, “since when do you read shakespeare of all things.”
“since i got grounded and i have nothing else to do.”
“you could do-“
your palm shoves into his chest before he can finish his sentence. “nu, uh. what were you doing out there at two in the morning?” you question.
“i’m sorry, my lady.” he over-exaggerates an apology, grasping your hands in his. “ will thou ever forgive thee?” he enunciates with the emulation of a shitty british accent.
you arch your brow, “for tossing rocks at my window or for that horrible accent?”
“both?”
“hmm…”
“please?” jj juts his bottom lip out, feigning a pout, looking at you with his beautiful blue orbs.
you let out a giggle, scooting towards him until your front is pressed up by his. you throw your leg over his torso- straddling him- and place your hands on the back of his neck, playing with some stray strands of his blonde locks.
“hmm…well considering it’s what romeo did to get julliets attention, i guess I can’t blame you for trying to be a romantic,” you respond, lips meeting the skin underneath his jawline.
jj’s hands run over your back, sliding up your flimsy pajama top suggestively.
“i thought that was just a thing gnomeo did in gnomeo and julliet, if i’m being honest.”
you chuckle against his neck, pulling back slightly to lock your eyes with his, “you’re fucking insufferable, jj.”
he tilts his chin up, bringing his lips to brush under yours, “love you too, babe.”
-----
pls tell me you guys have watched gnomeo and juliet. hc- jj was obsessed both gnomeo and juliet and sherlock gnomes.

Just Friends
A/N- i didn’t realize how long it’s been since i’ve posted a fic with all the boys in it!! i really miss getting to write for all of them 🥹
Summary- During a catch up with the boys after summer break, they learn of the unfortunate reason why you broke up with your most recent ex.
Genre- Fluff (?)
Warnings- Bad boyfriends doing bad boyfriend things 🙃
Tag List- @thatsthewaythechrissycrumbles @munsonology
(my tag list is always open, let me know if you’d like to be added 🖤)
Word Count- 2.1k
The first summer after high school always felt like a weird one.
Wether you had college waiting for you at the end of August or a job lined up for some quick work, catching up with the people you knew best was always so refreshing. Especially after not seeing them for nearly two months.
You walked into the bar you’d snuck into for one of their shows so many times before. You were grateful the owner let it slide whenever he caught you sneaking beers, especially when you stayed after to help clean after a set. Your eyes scanned the room, searching around for them and smiling once you saw Jeff waving his hand for you.
The boys were all smiles, and as you quickly made your way to the table they stood up one by one to give you a long awaited and much needed hug.
“Hi!” You exclaimed excitedly, “It feels like it’s been forever.”
“Two months is forever.” Jeff said with a smile as you hugged one another, Grant standing up after him.
“Why’d you leave us here to fend for ourselves?” Grant laughed as his arms went around you.
“It’s not my fault my family decided the reunion was gonna be out of state,” You rolled your eyes, “if it was my decision, we wouldn’t have had a reunion at all.”
“Reunion?” Eddie said as he stood to take Grants place, “So we’re not family anymore?”
“You shush.” You smiled, “My family’s cool with us smelling like weed and watching horror movies in the basement, my EXTENDED family is not.”
“Well it sounds like they don’t know how to have a good time.” Gareth was last up, laughing to himself.
“Clearly!” You agreed, sitting down in the empty chair they had left for you and grabbing the one still-capped bottle of beer. “Enough about me, how was it up here without me? Anything change with you guys?”
Eddie spoke up first after a sip from his bottle,
“I got that job at the body shop a few miles outside the park.” He said with a smile, shrugging it off as if it was no big deal, “Pays been pretty good, and it’s full time too.”
“That’s awesome!” You cheered, “I’m happy for you Eds, i know you’ve been checking that place out for a while.”
“Yeah, it just sucks when it cuts into stuff for the band, y’know?”
“Well yeah, but that’s just how grown up jobs work.” You shrugged, taking a sip from the bottle in your hand.
“True.” He shrugged, taking another sip before Jeff cut into the conversation.
“Me and Gareth were able to get some classes in at that local community college. They’re supposed to start next Monday.”
“That’s great! Are you just trying to get the gen-ed’s done, or do you think you’ll stick around?” You asked them.
“I’ll definitely be sticking around.” Gareth chuckled, “Mr. Honor Roll over there wants to get the gen-ed’s done so he can get into state.”
“There’s nothing wrong with a community college degree, i just want to make sure that i get the required stuff out of the way IF i go off to state.” Jeff said to Gareth, “And the only reason i said i’d go to state in the first place was because my parents were listening. If the choice was mine i’d stay here.”
“Still, it’s good that you guys were able to get in there. Do you know what you’re majoring in?”
“I’m going undecided for right now,” Jeff said after a sip from his bottle, “but i think Gareth is going for History?”
“Yep, U.S. history.” Gareth nodded with a smile, “I mean i think it’s already pretty interesting, i might as well get a degree in it.”
“Good idea. Good for you guys though, i might see if they have any classes open to get a few more credits while i’m at work. Grant?” You looked over to him across the table, “You said your dad was able to get a good word in for you with his union, did you hear anything back about that?”
“Yeah! I actually started all the training and schooling for it last month,” He said with a smile, “in another two months i’ll be an iron worker.”
“That’s great! I’m so happy for all you guys, it sounds like it’s been pretty eventful without me here.”
“What about you, (y/n)?” Gareth asked, “Anything interesting happen for you?”
“Not really.” You smiled and shrugged, thinking back over the last two months, “Same old, same old. I’m still gonna be working with my mom at the office, it’s been pretty stable thus far and if i make it to a year they make it fairly easy to move up so i’ll probably stick with that for a while. And while i was at the reunion a few people were asking about you guys.”
“Really?” Eddie asked, “Who asked about us?”
“A lot of the younger cousins. They wanted to hear all about my friends and their super cool band. And i showed some pictures to grandparents and aunts and uncles, they said we look like a pretty happy bunch. Oh! And i almost forgot, you guys remember my cousin Carlee and her shithead boyfriend?”
They nodded in unison, remembering how you always told them the stories of her boyfriend being anything but.
Never taking her out on dates, never buying her flowers, and of course who can forget the time he said he didn’t have enough money for their water bill but he absolutely had enough money to buy himself a whole new stereo system for his car.
“He proposed. And she said yes.”
They all groaned,
“Really?! Does this girl have no self respect?” Jeff said before you all tipped back your bottles. After something like that, a drink was definitely needed.
“Guess not.” You laughed, “Oh well, not my circus, not my monkeys.”
You all drank from your bottles, and you were about to mention how at the reunion her boyfriend couldn’t stop eyeballing a few of the other cousins all while Carlee was attached at his hip, but Gareth beat you to it,
“What about that guy you told us about a few months ago?” He asked, quickly jogging your memory to the guy you’d been talking to for only a few weeks at the time, “What’s his name?”
“I think it’s Randy, or Roger, or something?” Eddie asked, “Definitely something with an R.”
“Russel?” You said.
“Yes! How’s he doing?” Eddie asked as they all moved to listen about how you and this new guy were doing, especially when they weren’t around to hear all the juicy relationship details.
You smiled to yourself and stifled back a little laugh,
“Oh, he’s long gone.”
“What?!” Jeff exclaimed, “I thought everything was going good with that guy? I remember we met him one time after a show, he seemed like a nice guy.”
“Yeah, seemed like it to me too.” You said with an eye roll, taking the last swig from your bottle before setting the empty onto the table.
“What happened?” Grant asked.
You sighed and thought back to that final day seeing Russel,
“Well, because he was my boyfriend at the time, my parents said he could come along with us to the reunion. He drove me up there with him and everything seemed normal, we were talking just fine, and then we got to a truck stop close by and i saw a payphone and i remembered i had to call you guys…” You cleared your throat, sitting up as the boys were on the edge of their seats. They may be boys, but no one loves gossip like they do, “And as soon as i told him i wanted to call and check in with you guys he just seemed kind of… off? We got to my aunts house for the reunion and he pulled me off to the side and said he really didn’t like how close i was with you guys.”
“Really?” Eddie questioned.
“I’m not finished.” You smiled, “He said that he knows how guy friends are. That all you guys were hoping for was to see me naked, you didn’t actually care about me, and he would know because he said he’s only been friends with girls to try and hook up with them.”
The collective gasps of the boys only made you giggle more.
“That asshole!” Jeff shook his head.
“He said that if i wanted to keep seeing him then i had to stop being friends with you guys. So i told him he can go fuck himself and have a safe drive home.”
“You made him drive all the way back?!” Gareth laughed.
“Absolutely! I’m not going to let some guy tell me who i can and can’t be friends with, and he’s lucky i didn’t put sugar in his gas tank and leave him stranded there.”
Grant laughed, finishing off the last of the beer in his bottle,
“Fuck, well i’m sorry we got in between that.”
“What’s there to apologize for?” You asked, “You guys didn’t do anything wrong. If i date a guy who can’t understand that i’m JUST FRIENDS with all of you, and you’re cool with that, then that’s their problem and not ours. Besides, i’m not going to cut off every guy i know just for some loser.” You giggled with an eye roll.
“I don’t know,” Eddie shrugged, “I just think it’s funny that he said that after we met him. He kept trying to turn the conversation into talking about you? Like he was baiting us into saying something we shouldn’t about you.”
“Did he?” This was news to you, “What did he say? And why did you not tell me?!”
“I remember me and Jeff talking to him and he kept turning and looking at you while you were with Eddie and Grant and he kept trying to get us to look at your ass.” Gareth said with an uncomfortable look on his face.
“And he also kept trying to pry information out of us, and he seemed irritated that we didn’t have anything to tell him.” Jeff said.
“Information like what?” You asked all of them, seeing them exchange glances with one another.
“He asked us if we ever… did anything with you.” Grant said, leaning in and quietly saying the end of his sentence to keep it private from the other patrons in the bar.
“Yeah, he said something really weird to me.” Eddie got the shivers as he remembered the conversation, “He was saying something about you two, definitely not going into detail, but alluding to some mature thing you guys were doing, and he asked if we ever got to experience that side of you instead of this front you put on.”
“Front?” You questioned, getting more and more irritated with your ex the longer this conversation went on, “What did he mean by that?”
“I think he also assumed that since you were friends with us that meant you had… intentions.”
You groaned and leaned back in your chair, not being able to help the laugh that rose up from your lungs,
“What an asshole! And why didn’t you guys tell me?”
“You seemed like you really liked the guy!” Eddie argued.
“We didn’t want to ruin your chances with him,” Jeff said, “You we’re telling us all about how nice he was and when we met him we figured it was just him having word vomit cause he was nervous meeting us.”
You sighed and smiled to yourself, holding your face in your hands.
“Ok, fine, i’ll cut you some slack. But if you guys ever meet anyone i date, or i have the potential to date, and they’re doing weird stuff like that i want you to tell me. Deal?”
“Deal!” They said in unison, the rest of the boys finishing off what was left of the beer in their bottles and placing the empties onto the table.
“Alright, we’ve had our drink,” Eddie stood, stretching his arms over his head, “you guys wanna come back to the trailer and hang? I know Wayne would be happy to see you after so long (y/n).”
“Yeah! It’ll be like old times.” You stood with the boys and smiled, walking out with them as they wandered off to their cars in the lot.
Seeing the boys after so long felt like such a breath of fresh air, and it was nice to know that they always had your best intentions in mind. Even when guys you brought around them were being a little strange.
No matter what, no man could replace those boys’ places in your heart.

A dark attraction (pt 1)
You tried reaching for the book, that was stacked high in the book store, you stood on your tip toes and that didn't help either. Then you felt a chest press up against your back and a hand reach for the book.
Man: Here you go, Miss.
Y/n: Oh...thank you. You replied, with a smile.
Nodding, he turned away to walk away, but you stopped him by grabbing onto his arm.
Y/n: Um...i know I just met you, and it might seem strange to ask but would you like to have coffee with me? I just moved here from America, and you just helped me so...i though it would be only a gesture of showing my gratitude.
Man: Ah...well, I think a coffee would be nice. I'm Seong Yun-o.
Y/n: I'm y/n l/n. Nice to meet you.
Smiling you purchased your book and walked to the nearest coffee show with Yun-o, smiling you didn't know what to do or what to talk about with the guy that you just met.
Yun-o: What made you move to Seoul?
Y/n: My job. They transfered me, to our company here in Seoul.
Yun-o: What is it you do for a living.
Y/n: I'm a fashion designer and a author. And you? You asked, taking a sip of your coffee.
Yun-o: I'm and Architectural designer.
Y/n Wow, that's fascinating. We are looking for someone to design a building for the new property we bought. C...could I have your number? Only if it's not to forward in me asking, it's strickly for business. You said, swallowing hard, and taking another sip of your coffee.
Yun-o: Hahaha, here. This is my business card, and this...is my phone number. I'd like to stay in contact, you seem like a nice person and what harm would it be to get to know more people in Seoul?
Y/n: I guess. Thanks. You smiled, as you bit your lip. I...i should go it's getting late, and I still need to unpack at my apartment.
Yun-o: Do you need a ride? Instead of calling a taxi.
Y/n: I...um...i don't think that'll be a bad thing.
Yun-o: Great. Let's go.
Driving you home, the drive was silent, slightly uncomfortable and yet at the same time felt normal to you. Once you reached the apartment, you saw walking to your side after you got out and smiled down at you.
Yun-o: I would really like to know you better, that's if you wouldn't care about that. He said taking your hand in his, rubbing your knuckles with his thumb.
Y/n: Would...would you like to...mmm, have dinner here tomorrow night? You asked, as you looked down at your hands.
Yun-o: I'd like that. He replied, letting go of your hand, as he walked backwards. See you, tomorrow night. He gave a beautiful alluring smile, and got in his car.
Once you entered the building, Yun-o pulled out his phone and opened his Somebody app. Scrolling through the girl that were interested in him. Smirking he found a girl, and started chatting to her and arranged to meet her tonight. Giving an evil smile, he drove off preparing things for tonight.
As he arrived at the hotel she was staying at, he knocked on the door and was welcomed by the oyung women.
Baya: Hi, please come inside. She Siad, as she moved aside for him to enter.
Yun-o: Why did you want to meet at a hotel, instead of your home?
Baya: My roommate is there, she's only leaving for England the end of the week and since it's Monday I thought it'll be more private.
Yun-o: Does anyone know your here?
Baya: No. And I even booked this room, under a false name and payed cash. It makes this more interesting, don't you think? She asked Yun-o, as she took of his shirt. Meeting in secret, like to people who are forbidden to see one another. Baya said, as she licked his neck.
Yun-o sat on the couch as Baya took off her clothes, nothing but her underwear consealing her. Yun-o smirked as she took off his pants and shirt throwing it to the side. Kissing his chest Baya straddled his lap and started grinding against him, as she moaned hin his neck as she was sucking on his skin.
Yun-o kissed Baya, on the chest as his hands traveled under her bra pushing it off her and sucking on the soft flesh of her collerbone. Moaning in pure ecstasy, Baya grinded harder on Yun-o making him groan in delight. Lifting her from him, he placed her on the couch and revomed both their underwear and started to have sex with her. Baya, pulled him close as she held tightly onto his strong broad shoulders and yelled as they finished.
Looking up at him, she smiled, at Yun-o. Yun-o gave her a psychotic smile and started to hold her mouth and nose shut. Once she was dead, he carried her to the bathroom and placed her down in water as he injected her arm with drugs making it look like an overdose. After getting dressed, he smoothly walked out of the hotel and didn't get noticed at all, when he entered his car he got a ping from his phone and saw you sent him a message. Smirking, he opened up the message, and read it.
*Message*
Y/n:Hi Yun-o, I wanted to know what would you like to eat for dinner out of three options. 1- sweet and sour pork, with fried rice, kimchi and stir fry, 2- hotpot with all the trimmings or 3- takeout?
Yun-o: I'd enjoy anything. But if I'd be honest, I'd love option 1.
Y/n: Option 1 it is😊.
Yun-o: Counting down the minutes and hours, I'm so exited to have dinner with you🌸.
Y/n: Bye, see you then.
Yun-o: Bye.
*End of chat*
Time skip to next day
You sat across from Yun-o, watching as he ate his food that you made. His eyes closed, as he swallowed the food, smiling at you as he looked your way.
Yun-o: This is delicious. You should've been a chef. He laughed, as you shrugged.
Y/n: I did study to be a chef too. But I'm just helping my friend for now. I guess later I'll move out of the fashion industry, and open my own restaurant.
Yun-o: I'd definitely come eat there all the time.
Y/n: Really? You asked, raising your brow.
Yun-o: Yes. He said, as he stood up waling over to you. He turned your chair, and licked your lips.
You opened your mouth in response to his action, and felt his warm tongue gliding into your mouth. His tongue swirled around your mouth, as he drop to his knees and felt him push your legs apart. Pulling his tongue out of your mouth, he swallowed and smiled.
Yun-o: You tast delicious. He said, as he rubbed his thumb over your lips.
You didn't say anything as you felt his hand moving to your skirt. Pulling it off as you lifted yourself slightly off the chair. You felt his lips connect to your ankles, moving his way up your legs. Your breath hitched in your throat, but as soon as he got closer to your private area, you pulled his head up.
Y/n: STOP. You said fast, as you pulled his face up. We...we only just met yesterday.
Yun-o: That doesn't matter. He said, kissing your knee when you stopped him again.
Y/n: I...i don't...Yun-o, I really like you.
Yun-o: I like you too. He said, rubbing his hands on your legs making you shiver.
Y/n: T...that's...mmm-No. You held onto his hand, and looked into his eyes. I like you since I met you, I felt connected to you in a way that I've never felt before with anyone. I felt that I could...i could feel safe with you around. You said, as he smirked.
Yun-o: Really? If you feel that way, why won't you allow me to carry on?
Y/n: I...i don't know. I just, haven't been with a man since my divorce.
Yun-o: You were married? He asked, as you placed your hands on his shoulders. What happened.
Y/n: I...i caught him cheating on me. We were only married two weeks.
Yun-o: How did you find out?
Y/n: Our honeymoon. You said, looking at him.
You both started laughing, as you said that. Shaking your head you placed your hand on his cheek, stroking it softly.
Y/n: I guess I'm just...scared of getting hurt again. So, that's why I can't do this. I'm sorry.
Yun-o: What gives you the idea, that I'll hurt you? You can trust me. He said, as he kissed your foread, right eye, nose, cheek and lips.
Yun-o softly kissed you as he moved forward slightly, as his hand held onto your neck you could feel the strong hold he had on your neck which made it feel safe. You placed your hands on his shoulders as you reciprocated the kiss, this felt different, this felt like it was right. Throwing your arms around his shoulders, you felt Yun-o pick you up carrying you to bedroom. Breathing in, you watched as he took off his shirt, and pants leaving him in only his black fit underwear. Sitting up, you took off your shirt looking eyes with his as he hovered over you connecting your lips. Yun-o hand traveled up your stomach to your chest, as he messaged it causing you to moan.
Y/n: Yun-o-
Yun-o: Mmm. He hummed, as he started sucking on your neck.
Y/n: I...ugh... You cut yourself off as you turned your head lightly and sucked on his neck causing him to groan.
Yun-o pulled back and stood up taking off his underwear and yours. Now you were both completely naked, Yun-o slowly put on his condom and pushed himself in as he kept eye contact. You nodded your head, telling him you were ready which he instantly took as a go.
He started off with slow, steady movements and caressed your skin as he pushed into you. Yun-o, flipped you over making you stradle him and bounce ontop of him. He smirked up at you as he saw the sweat forming on your face, and how your face would change out of pure pleasure. Sitting up, Yun-o held onto you and moved to the edge of the bed with you still on his lap. He pulled you by the waist whispering in your ear, that he wanted you to bounce faster on him. Doing so, you ft strange since you hadn't had sex like this before, or even had sex after your diver two years ago...this felt amazing it felt different and normal to you. It felt as though it was an experiment that you wanted to try, yet something that's so natural to many people. As you thought about these things, Yun-o placed his mouth on your nipple and started sucking it causing you to feel even hotter than before, he licked his way up and sucked on your collerbone as he reached your mouth he connected you both with a kiss.
You started moaning in the kiss, breathing heavily as his tongue fought with yours for dominance. Holding him closer, you both bounced faster, and harder into each other making your curl your arms around him and his run your hands in his hair.
Y/n: Yun-o....agh...ahh...y...yes...ah
Yun-o: Mm...ah...ugh...just like that. F...faster.
After a few more second you both came, and you collapsed against his chest. Breathing heavily Yun-o could feel your chest rise and fall against his, lifting you off him he took off the condom and threw it in the bin. Walking over to you he got into your bed laying next yto you. You both were facing each other and he pulled you closer, as he kissed you forehead, you laid your head between his chest and neck.
Y/n: This feels nice. You whispered at the warm feeling of his body holding yours.
You fell asleep after saying that, and Yun-o looked down at you and thought to himself. There was no way he could kill you. There was something about you that was different than the others, you were hurt too, you've been cheated on, had to change your whole life and you were to afraid to even do this until he convinced you otherwise. He felt sincerety towards you, he was completely drawn to you. He wanted to protect you, and not kill you, he wanted to learn how to cook with you and have sex with you all over your apartment and more.
Could be that one person that he felt worth living?

I’ve always loved you | T. Zegras
word count: 1.2k
pairing: Trevor Zegras x f!reader
summary: after a one night stand, and an embarrassing exit, you and Trevor finally work over all the hurdles to fall in love
warnings: none?
requested: no
not my gif!
Falling in love with a hot-shot hockey player was never the plan.
You were at the bar, he was at the bar, on a high from the win one thing lead to another and you woke up in his arms with a pounding headache.
“Fuck” mumbled out of your mouth, a pounding in you head was all that you could focus on, not the arms around your waist or the fact that this isn’t your bedroom. Trying to sit up is when you finally acknowledged the arms around you, keeping you in place.
“Don’t go” he whined, pulling you impossibly closer.
Who the fuck is that?
You just woken up in a bed that isn’t your, someone’s arms around you, and a killer headache. Sounds like a good way to start the week.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck. It’s Monday.”
Panic rushed in you when you realized, you were late for work and hung over. You pushed yourself from his arms, despite his constant pleas not to, and tried to find all items belonging to you. Your shirt was thrown on a chair and your pants just left on the floor.
“Baby, what’s the rush for?”
His voice. The rasp from the early morning, the way it was the most perfect sound you had ever heard almost lured you back to the bed. You turned to look at him, finally. You were in, none other then, Trevor fucking Zegras’ bed.
“oh my fuck” was mumbled by you.
“I- it’s Monday, I have work. I’m sorry.” And with that you rushed out of his apartment. Needless to say he was left so very confused, he hadn’t seen anything wrong with last night, and it was Sunday.
You were sat in the backseat of the Uber, holding your clothes in your arms, only wearing your pants and whatever shirt you had slept in, checking all your notifications from last night. 10 messages from your roommate
‘Where are you?’
‘Are you coming home?’
‘If you don’t answer soon I’m locking the house and I know you don’t have your key’
God damn. Even a few messages from people you barely talk to, sending videos of the party, telling how fun you were last night. You sighed, turning off your phone but not before seeing the date. It was Sunday. Great so you had just ran out thinking it was Monday, you probably looked insane and he probably thought you were too.
Finally the Uber arrived at your house, you thanked the driver and walked slowly towards the doors.
“Where were you?” The door was opened right before you as Estelle questioned you. She was quick, clearly not hung over and clearly interested to where you were.
“I think I just hooked up with Trevor Zegras.”
“WHAT” he reaction was loud, and did nothing to help the pounding in your head.
“Ow, now let me in. I thought it was Monday and ran out, I need more sleep.”
Pushing her out of the doorway you finally padded into your own home and to your room. As soon as you got in, you fell to your bed, sleep overcoming you instantly.
When you woke up later, there was more messages unopened in your phone. An unknown number had messaged you about six times.
‘Hey why’d you run out? You know it’s Sunday?’
‘It’s Trevor btw’
‘This must seem so creepy sorry, I got your number from your friend’
‘Estelle’
‘Fuck sorry I don’t know what I’m doing’
‘I had a good time last night, I don’t know about you but I’d love to do it again’
Holy fuck. This had to be a dream. Trevor Zegras, Anaheim ducks player, a nhl player, had a good night with you and wants to do it again. Fuck.
“ESTELLE”
“Oh good your finally awake.” She said running into your room.
“You gave Trevor my number?”
“Oops” she giggled, of course she did.
That entire incident was now four months ago, and you and Trevor had been hooking up ever since. And currently you were sitting on your couch with Estelle, watching whatever was on tv.
“Estelle, I won’t do this anymore. I have to end it.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Trevor. I can’t take it, I think I love him.”
“Oh, why not tell him?”
“Because there’s no way he feels the same. He is a famous hockey player who could do so much better then me. There are so many other girls who are prettier.”
“Why not just try? What’s the worst to happen? He says he doesn’t feel the same, so what. His loss.”
She was right, and you knew it but that doesn’t mean that’s what you would do.
So you ghosted him. When he messaged you for the night, you cleared the notification. When he called you sent it to voicemail. This continued on for three weeks. Finally Trevor broke, he got your address from Estelle. Showed up at 2 in the morning when he couldn’t sleep.
“Y/n” being mumbled in your ear constantly and the slight shaking is what woke you at 2 in the morning. Waking up to Trevor’s face in your was not expected.
“What the fuck?”
“I missed you. Why were you ignoring me?” His voice was soft, he had puppy dog eyes staring at you. Fuck it’s hard to ignore him in person.
“I wasn’t”
“Your lying”
“Mhm” and you rolled over. You needed to stop this.
Despite clearly knowing you didn’t want to see him, he still laid down. He pulled you into his chest, turning you to face him in the process. when you looked up he had a sappy smile on his face.
“What?”
“Your just pretty. And I missed you.”
blush covered your cheeks, burrowing yourself into his chest to hide. He laughed quietly.
“Why were you ignoring me?” He asked again after pressing a gentle kiss to your hair. You just shook your head.
“Come on baby, you got to talk to me.”
“No I don’t. I just don’t want to see you anymore.” You lied right through your teeth. And he could hear it.
“No you don’t, tell me the truth.”
fuck. He knows. He knows you always want to see him, that wouldn’t just change. Fuck it.
“I think I love you.”
he froze, and you knew you had messed up.
“No it’s fine, I know you don’t feel the same. It’s just people fall in love without reason, without wanting. You can’t predict love. And I get that, I get that you won’t love me. There’s better people out there. I understand I swear.” You were going to keep mumbling on to maybe bring yourself some comfort but he cut you off.
“Shut up”
“What”
“Please shut up”
He gave you no time to comprehend what he told you, he just kissed you. Passionately, he tried to put every emotion he was feeling into it. When you pushed him away he spoke fast.
“I love you”
“Trevor…”
“I mean it, I love you so much.”
“Don’t pity me. Don’t tell me something you don’t mean.”
“I mean it. I swear on my life. I love you.”
He gave no time for a response before pulling you back to him and putting his lips on yours.
“How long?” You mumble against his lips.
“Four months”
What. It’s only been four months. He’s only known you four months.
“What are you saying?”
“I’ve always loved you.”

Last Monday of the Week 2025-01-06
Damn that last Monday of the week really barely got in under the wire.
Listening: Among other things kind of going through a bunch of popular songs and albums from the past year to see like. What I missed, which has included me introducing my partner to Guess from Brat by Charli xcx.
youtube
Brat is a good album, despite Brat Summer not actually being a real thing.
Watching: Ended up going to Nosferatu (2024) with the partner and a friend after their other movie companion bailed. Damn they really did file the serial numbers off Dracula with this thing huh. I have never seen Original Nosferatu.
This is a very good looking movie, and it manages to mostly retain some of my favourite bits of Dracula-ness like the protagonists generally getting along remarkably well given the situation. Friedrich is a little antsy for much of it but it's for a good reason and it pays off well with his Mina situation.
The shots in this movie are all... weirdly smooth. Every single shot feels like it's on an ultra-filtered dolly-crane move. It turns out it was shot on film so I guess it probably was, no one wants to handhold a film camera. It lends it a slightly strange air, lots of big long dramatic camera moves but also in situations where you'd really expect a shaky handheld shot it holds rock solid, to the point that I genuinely burst out laughing at a perfectly stable shot of knock-off Jonathan hoofing it down a street.
The steady camera doesn't do the composited backgrounds and effects any favours, some of the backgrounds are really obviously painted in. Weird choice! Some interesting BTS stories about shooting though. And it was shot around Prague, so that's fun.
It's good! You should check it out. Very different opinions on how sexy Nosferatu is from me and my friend. I would fuck that old man (bill skarsgard in so so so much makeup and a huge moustache).
Playing: Nothing really! Been busy unpacking and [REDACTED]
Reading: Finished The Apocalypse of Herschel Schoen by @nostalgebraist which is one of those things that gets its hooks into you. I think it makes its case well, which is basically "even if GenAI is going to take over the world, that might actually be great for the abstract moral state of the universe". I love an extremely disconnected look at humanity.
I do adore Miriam's chapters. She's meant to be this everyman narrator with no personality but she's so weird.
I gotta go read The Northern Caves and Almost Nowhere. I read Floornight a while ago and then just. forgot I guess.
the On Raven chapter intro to Herschel really heavily informs how I saw him for the rest of the book. He's kind of someone who thinks anything should be possible because anything else would be too sad to imagine. You can kind of take this two ways I think, one more literal that is explored more heavily in the story, and another as sort of. I guess the feeling of what it must be like to be a noise diffusion algorithm. You start out with this infinite possibility of random noise and it is slowly hacked up into likely meaning.
It's on AO3! Go read it!
Making: Nothing really! See Playing.
Tools and Equipment: Do Not Fucking Use CentOS Stream In Applications Where You Very Clearly Want RedHat Compatiblity, For The Love Of God.

How you met Peter Parker
Masterlist | AO3 | How you met Spidey
Chemistry made you want to change your major. I mean, you learned nothing in general chemistry because you didn't jive with the professor's teaching style and gen chem 2 was only marginally better because you understood the material but the professor was replaced with an alcoholic grad student last minute who canceled class every other Monday. You were starting to think the chemistry department at your college was a lost cause!
And, when you started organic chemistry? Oh boy, you thought it was time to change to a different pre-medical degree just to avoid O-chem 2. It really wasn't professor Connors' fault, she's a great lady and who really cares about her students. You were just trying to learn 500 level course material with a shaky 110 & 111 background. On top of which, the possible, teeny-tiny, slight obsession you had with your lab GTA was not helping.
I mean, come on, it was hardly fair to put him in charge of teaching and running lab. The grad student professor Connors had picked to teach and run the lab was just so interesting. You couldn't say what it was that caught your attention about him but it made it hard to focus on his lab explanations. There was something special about Peter Parker and you were dying to figure out what it was.
He was cute, in a nerdy way, probably a 7/10 in general but a definite 10/10 for the chemistry department. He didn't stand out in a crowd, he actually seemed to disappear into a crowd scarily well. You'd tried to catch up to him after class one day to ask a question but he left the chem building and into the stream of people and was just… gone.
Sometimes he was late for lab, looking like he just lost a fist fight with a bear and then ran a mile. Actually, you could believe he did run to class since he never seemed to have his skateboard on those days, but the fact that he had something between sex-hair and helmet-hair made you think there was more to the story. Peter would just awkwardly apologize and start class like he didn't look like a horror movie character.
When you would be running experiments after the lab lecture/explanation, you noticed that he seemed to be doing one of two reactions. They weren't the same ones the class was doing and it was the same two reactions every week. You had a theory that he’d do other reaction steps during the other labs sections he taught. Every Thursday you'd see him take the product of his reactions and put them in his backpack. You really wanted to know what that was about.
After you got your second D on the class quizzes, professor Connors' sent you an email about the free tutoring sessions for the class. It was mortifying, you'd never gotten an email from a professor all but telling you to get tutoring for a class. Worse yet, you couldn't make it to the offered tutoring because of another class.
You decided to swallow your pride and ask professor Connors about any other tutoring options, adding about your class conflict, because it wasn't like it could make it worse. She very kindly told you one of the GTA's would be willing to help if you were able to meet at the campus library at 2pm on Wednesdays. You were more than happy when that fit in your schedule so you were put into contact with the GTA.
That GTA being the ever intriguing Peter Parker.
This, this was worse.
You met Peter in the 24 hour study space at the library on Wednesday. It was a weird, vaguely liminal feeling space with computers and printers and rolling white boards for students to use. You were pretty sure that some of the people there had been cramming for so long they lost the need to blink. One person had four coffee cups in front of them and shook like a human chihuahua. Someone had fallen asleep at one of the tables and was drooling all over their notebook. Another student was staring at a white board like you had looked at equations when they suddenly started putting letters in math problems. Yet another student was sitting in a lounge chair with their knees tucked up to their chest while they stared at their computer as if they were trying to telepathically make the thing implode. Among these victims of higher education sat Peter, relaxing on a bench seat at one of the tables with his back to the wall and sketching something in a notebook.
When you walked over, his eyes snapped up to you before you could say a word and the notebook was hurriedly closed as if hiding a secret. His smile didn't seem to be hiding any shame or embarrassment over what he had tucked away inside his notebook.
“Hey, you're in my Tuesday/Thursday afternoon lab, aren't you,” Peter asked as you sat down across from him.
“I am,” you confirmed, setting your backpack on the seat next to you. “Thanks for helping me. I know you probably have better things to do with your time.”
Peter smiled, shaking his head slightly. You noticed how his hair moved as he shook his head. It looked far more light than on the days he rushed to class. When it swayed freely like that, it was almost long enough to fall into his eyes. It was part of what made you think he was cute, the combination of his slightly curly rust-brown hair and big chocolate brown eyes that seemed to light up. “– so I'm between classes,” he finished saying as you realized he was talking to you.
You tensed, not sure what to say since you'd missed most of what he said. Not being great with long silences, you just ran with what you did catch. “I haven't had any classes yet today. My first one's at three thirty.”
“What class,” Peter asked, laying his notebook on the table and resting his arms on top of it, looking right at you with a smile full of kindness. That was another thing that made Peter cute, he always tried to seem genuinely interested in what people had to say even if it was completely wrong.
“Molecular cell biology,” you answered.
“That's really cool! I double majored in Chemistry and Biology as an undergrad,” he said but it didn't seem like he was bragging. “Molec is fun butI was always partial to Micro. Who do you have it with?”
“Huh? Oh, Brayberry,” you said, licking your lips nervously.
“I really like professor Brayberry. He’s a nice guy but he talks fast so it can be easy to miss things,” Peter said and you nodded in agreement. “Speaking of missing information, how are you feeling about O-chem?”
You visibly deflated at his question and he laughed softly.
“That good, huh?”
You sighed, “I just can't seem to get it. I think I understand and then we take the quiz and I totally miss the mark!”
“You're not totally missing it,” Peter told you. “I looked at your old quizzes and you seem to get the theory.”
“But?”
“But… the application could use some work.”
“Thanks for softening the blow,” you mumbled, slumping in your seat.
“We can work with that, though!” Peter sat up and grabbed his bag, opening it to look for something. “It'd be harder if you missed the theory but memorized the equations. Getting the theory means you get the big idea so we just need to focus on the details,” he explained happily, finally fishing a slightly crumpled stack of flashcards out of his bag. “Lucky for you, I'm a details kinda guy. Here,” he held the flashcards out to you, “the blue ones should help you connect the theory and the equations, the red ones will help identify variables, and the white ones are for conversions and constants.”
“I can't take those, they're yours,” you told him but he just leaned forward and dropped the cards in front of you.
“I practiced them so well I could make a copy from memory,” Peter assured you.
You hesitantly picked up the cards, handling them like a well-loved book. They were bent and creased and pressed flat again. The bottom few seemed to have had a damp corner at one point like they'd been the victims of condensation from a cold bottle pooling on a desk.
“There's so many of them. This must have taken you hours,” you said, as you flipped through the cards like making them move fast enough would reveal an animation drawn on them.
“I love chemistry so it felt like nothing,” he said, not arguing that it had taken him a long time to make. “If I can't teach you anything else, hopefully I can teach you that organic chem can lead to some pretty fun reactions,” Peter said with a smile and, honestly, you were inclined to believe him.

↬ rating(s): pg15, nc17 (see warnings)
↬ tw: heavy swearing, slight angst (listen y’all know i can’t not write a bit of angst slkjfjdjf), kinda cheesy and very fluffy, you’ve been warned <3 joshua is an absolute sweetheart wbk, brief mentions of stress (being a uni student is a constant struggle), reader is a bit of a workaholic
↬ wc: 2.9k
↬ note: hello loves! the title of this fic comes from the song ‘disconnected’ by 5sos, which is honestly one of my favorite songs from them (esp after seeing it live in concert recently) even to this day. it’s just so cute and evokes all the emotions in me okay :(( anyways this fic was another spur of the moment idea (are y’all even surprised at this point lmao) and i decided to write for joshua, as i haven’t written anything for him yet (i do have another joshua fic in my drafts rn hehe) also yes this fic will be cheesy, you have been warned <3
joshua eyed the macbook balanced on your lap with utter disdain, wishing he could pry the device from your hands, make you focus on him instead, but he knew his efforts would only be in vain. you had come home from a long day of classes, ranting incessantly about how cruel your professors were for assigning a shit ton of work over the course of three days no less, and he had listened attentively to every word, despite the exhaustation from comeback preparations weighing down on him.
you had given him a quick kiss on the cheek before disappearing into his room to take a quick shower, and had come out fifteen minutes later dressed in loose, black sweatpants and one of his shirts, the latter practically a dress on your small form.
joshua’s heart had squeezed at the sight, for seeing you in his clothes was something he’d never get used to, even after three years of dating. that fluttering feeling quickly dissipated when you plopped down next to him on the living room couch with your macbook in hand.
“you have homework?” he had asked, trying to keeping his voice as casual as possible, and you’d simply let out a noncommittal grunt in response. “my introduction to film studies professor wants a five page analysis on the great gatsby, and it’s due on friday, which means i only have a few days to finish it.”
joshua had bit back a retort, refraining himself from reminding you that it was only monday, for heavens sake, but decided against it. “how long is it going to take you?” your expression had gone soft, and you’d leaned over to press a soft kiss on his cheek. “two or three hours, give or take, i’ll try and finish this paper soon, and then i’m all yours, okay? just give me two or three hours.”
and because joshua knew he couldn’t deny you anything, he’d conceded. so, here he was, trying his absolute hardest to focus on a movie that didn’t really interest him in the first place, silently counting down the hours in his head.
five minutes had turned into ten, ten into fifteen, fifteen into twenty, and so on. time trickled on slowly, and joshua had become utterly convinced that watching paint dry was more entertaining than the movie currently playing on the tv.
he wasn’t even sure what it was about, and nothing about piqued his interest, for all he could think about was you, wearing his t-shirt and balancing that fucking macbook on your lap, eyes practically glued to the screen.
joshua hadn’t really thought of himself as a clingy person, in fact, even the other members thought so, with hoshi pointing out how, ever since he’d started dating you, he’d practically run out of the rehearsal room once the choreographer deemed practice over, eager to get home to you.
you had taken up permanent residence in the dorms, and the members even had one of their managers make a key for you so that you could head straight there in between or after classes to rest. joshua was surprised that management had been okay with it, among all things.
he and the rest of the members had been extremely busy with comeback preparations, and the past few weeks had a whirlwind of activity, with arduous dance practices, album photoshoots, recording sessions in woozi’s personal studio, and so on.
the group finally had a few days off from comeback preparations, and joshua was determined to spend all of them with you, watching those cheesy romance films you loved and maybe spending all day in bed. alas, none of that had actually come true, for you were extremely busy with school, constantly working on assignments or projects, and joshua had spent most nights sleeping alone.
your side of the bed was constantly empty, and joshua knew you were staying up at ungodly hours at night, curled up on the couch, working on another assignment that probably wasn’t due for another few weeks. he wished he could pull you away from work, even for a second, but knowing your stubborn nature, it would take a lot for you to take a break.
joshua tried not to pout like a child who’d just been told they couldn’t have ice cream for breakfast. he was a twenty seven year old man, for fucks sake, and pouting because his girlfriend wouldn’t pay attention to him was not good for his character, and if the members found out, they’d tease him relentlessly for weeks.
“are you almost done?” he found himself saying, mentally patting himself on the back for keeping his voice neutral as possible, “sort of, i finished the introduction and maybe, erm, half of the analysis? i’ve written..two pages so far.” you mumbled, and joshua felt his heart sink into his chest.
“oh.” was all he managed to say, and went back to pretending to watch his movie, resisting the urge to scream in frustration. a long stretch of silence settled between them, and joshua wracked his mind for something to say, anything to break the awkward atmosphere.
another long beat of silence, and then, “are you mad at me?” your voice was impossibly soft, and joshua knew you well enough to note the nervousness laced within your tone. at that, his head whipped towards you, heart aching at the unsure, almost fearful look on your face, tension lining your shoulders.
“no, love, of course not, you’ve done nothing wrong.” he reassured, and nearly sighed in relief when the tension in your shoulders loosened, ever so slightly. “then why did you sound so… upset earlier?” “i did?” you nodded, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
“y-yeah, a bit, i don’t think you realized though.” “i’m not upset, darling, just a bit… sad, i guess.” “sad? why? did something happen while you and the guys were preparing for the comeback?” you asked, concern furrowing your brow, and joshua felt a small smile tug at the corners of his mouth.
“no, nothing happened, don’t worry, the guys are fine, just resting from the crazy schedule we’ve had these last few weeks.” “oh, thank god, i thought something happened. then, why are you sad?” joshua hesitated, wondering if you would laugh in his face for admitting that he had felt lonely these past few days because you’d been so focused on work and not him.
stop overthinking everything, you idiot, this is y/n. she’s not going to laugh at you or think you’re pathetic. well, here goes nothing. “this is going to sound pathetic of me, but you’ve been so focused on work these past few days and.. i don’t know, this is the longest break i’ve had during comeback preparations that management has given us in a long time, and i guess i thought we could spend them together. but you were so determined to get your work done, and i didn’t want to bother you.”
joshua tried to keep his voice as cheerful as possible, but the small crack in his voice at the end betrayed him, and he felt color rise to his cheeks in embarrassment. to his relief, you didn’t laugh in his face or call him pathetic.
instead, you were looking at him with guilt written all over your face, dark eyes glinting with unshed tears, and joshua felt as if he’d been punched in the gut. “why didn’t you tell me?” you asked, and you sounded so hurt, so devastated, that he immediately wished he could take his words from earlier back.
“i didn’t want to bother you”, he replied softly, voice ever so gentle, as if he were afraid of scaring you off. “you’re never a bother! i’m the one who shouldn’t be bothering you. you’re an idol for fucks sake, you’re constantly rehearsing and preparing to put out an album and perform on stage for thousands and thousands of people, and i’m just a struggling university student who’s constantly complaining about something trivial like shitty professors-” joshua cut you off by pressing a soft kiss to your mouth.
“i could say the same about you, you’re never a bother to me either. and yes, i do prepare to perform for tons of people, and while it’s a lot different from being a student, you shouldn’t think of yourself that way, it breaks my heart. never think just because you’re a university student, it doesn’t make your worries or stress any less significant or important. and shitty professors isn’t a trivial matter. they can either make or break your overall experience, and i’m sorry that they’ve been throwing all these things at you. but i know you. you can get through it, and if you ever need me, i’ll be here.”
you were a sobbing mess at this point, and joshua gently pried the laptop from your hands and set it on the coffee table. “now come here.” he whispered, opening his arms ever so slightly, and you threw yourself into them, body wracking with uncontrollable sobs, burying your face in the crook of his shoulder.
joshua held you flush against him, wrapping his arms around your body and rubbing comforting circles on your back, murmuring reassuring words under his breath. your soft sobs filled the room, and he swore he felt his heart cleave in two at how utterly shattered you sounded.
after your tears had subsided, joshua pulled back enough to tuck a stray piece of hair behind your ear, caressing your cheek with the pad of his thumb. “i know this is a long shot, but would you be willing to spend the rest of the night with me? that is, no movies, no music, and definitely no five page papers. you can work all you want tomorrow, but i think maybe taking a break will benefit you.”
your shoulders slumped in defeat, and joshua couldn’t help but smile fondly at the exasperated huff you let out as you gazed longingly at your macbook. “fine, but only because i can’t say no to you.” you murmured begrudgingly. joshua let out a soft, amused chuckle, leaning down to press a soft kiss atop your head. “likewise.”
“do you mind if i put your laptop in my room? just so that you’re not distracted by it?” you shook your head. “go ahead, i don’t really want to write that fucking paper right now. my brain is fried.” joshua chuckled, reaching out and ruffling your hair affectionately. “ok, i’ll be back.”
he took the laptop off the table and headed towards his room, humming softly to himself. when he opened the door, jeonghan was sprawled out on his bed, scrolling idly through his phone. he looked up when joshua entered. “i thought you were spending time with y/n. having a lover’s quarrel?” jeonghan asked, the corners of his mouth curving into a mischievous smile, and joshua rolled his eyes, used to the former’s cheekiness.
“very funny. no, we are not having a lover’s quarrel.” jeonghan sighed, shaking his head in mock disappointment. “shame, i thought something interesting was finally happening around here.” joshua snorted. “yeah, like the one time you and dokyeom went live at the same time and you practically begged carats to watch you instead of him?”
jeonghan gave an elegant shrug, unfazed. “it’s not my fault i’m so lovable.” joshua fought the urge to throw a pillow at his friend’s head. “whatever helps you sleep at night.” he grumbled, placing your laptop on his bed before promptly exiting the room, shutting the door gently behind him.
joshua found you right where he left you, curled up on the couch, except now, you were hugging a pillow to your chest, seemingly lost in thought. the sight made his heart ache and warm all the same. he gently kissed the top of your head as he plopped down unceremoniously next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“penny for your thoughts?” he teased, which earned him a half-hearted glare. “what are you so lost in thought about, love?” he saw your cheeks heat at the way the endearment slipped easily off his tongue due to years of use, and fought the urge to coo at the sight.
“nothing, just thinking about how i could’ve spent time you with you these past few days, you know, instead of brushing you off and doing work instead.”
joshua shushed you, pulling you closer into his side. “it’s okay, i also was a little embarrassed. i mean, i didn’t want to come off as clingy.” that earned him a soft smack on the chest. “you are not clingy.” “tell that to hoshi, he thinks i’m utterly besotted, his words, not mine.”
you glanced up at him, a teasing glint in your eyes. “well, you are, aren’t you?” joshua rolled his eyes half-heartedly. “sure, whatever helps you sleep at night, love.” you scrunched your nose at joshua in mock disgust, and he let out a soft chortle of amusement.
a comfortable silence settled in the air, and you let out a soft sigh of contentment, resting your head on joshua’s shoulder, and he smiled, carding a hand gently through your hair, the strands like silk against his skin. joshua adored moments like these, when it was just you and him, and he could temporarily forget about any and all his worries.
and even if the others teased him for being so besotted, then so be it. after all, joshua was used to their teasing, had been for eight years and counting. you were the first to break the silence, clearing your throat awkwardly. “not to sound like a broken record, but i really do feel guilty for completely ignoring you these past few days. if i had known you had-”
“love,” joshua began, cutting you off gently but firmly, “like i said before, you have nothing to apologize for. your work was important, and i would’ve distracted you.” you let out a small sigh, small shoulders slumping in defeat. “still, you could’ve at least tried to take my laptop away. or something,”
joshua rolled his eyes half-heartedly. “i love you, but we both know that you would likely hiss at me if i did.” color rose to your cheeks. “n-not true.” “sure, love.” you wrinkled your nose at him in mock disgust, and joshua couldn’t help but press a gentle kiss atop your head.
you mumbled something incoherent under your breath, but said nothing further, instead settling back into joshua’s embrace, and he allowed himself a small smile as you let your eyes flutter shut, letting out a small yawn. “tired?” he whispered, carding his hands through your soft hair, and you managed a small nod.
“sleep, then, love. i’ll be here when you wake up.” at that ,color rose to your cheeks, and joshua bit back an amused laugh, knowing you were likely to scold him for it, and leaned back against the soft cushions of the couch, relishing in the comfortable silence that settled around the room.
it was moments like these that joshua treasured the most, when there was nothing but you and him, just enjoying each other’s company. with you, he could let all his worries melt away, forget about concerts and comebacks, and just be himself.
and, as much as you and him loved spending time with the other members, it was often loud and chaotic, and joshua needed the peace and quiet every now and then. he let out a content sigh, and felt exhaustation take over, and soon, his eyes fluttered shut and he entered dreamland, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

🕯Summary:
Who knew rambling about a book you felt so passionate about could lead to an interaction like this.
🌹CW
Passionate Rambling|Honest Bickering|Wholesome|Dubious Ending
🍄Wordcount: 1K
"I like that one," a voice said behind you. Shivers ran down your back, "Ah, it's one of my favourites too," you said, confused on why you couldn't sense him. He chuckled, "It's unfortunate how it ends," he said, skimming through the array of books. You nodded in agreement, "Yeah," you sighed, rethinking the familiar ending. He grabs a book next to you, "What about it is unfortunate to you?" he asks, reading the book's back cover.
"It's just upsetting that she threw all that unconditional affection for something comfortable," you huffed, facing the voice. He nodded, "But the book didn't even portray his reaction to the betrayal," he added, subtly trying to arrogate your expression. You furrowed your eyebrows, "I know but think about realistically, would you like getting tossed away in a blink as such?" you asked, holding back a glare. He laughed, "Touche," he said, picking up another book.
You should've held back then but your thoughts split, "And besides, imagine giving up your all to someone and they just pull away because they were afraid," you grumbled before realising what you'd done. "Sorry," you blurted, covering your mouth. He shook his head, smiling, "There's nothing to apologise for, I admire that," he said, placing back the book he held. You raised an eyebrow, prompting him to continue his train of thought.
He stifled a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck, "I admire that you're passionate about what you believe in," he said, averting your gaze. Your cheeks burned, "Thanks, um," you said, hesitantly reaching out your hand. "Chan," he said, shaking your hand in response. You took a moment to eye his features, embarrassment running through you when you realised he was your exact type. He gulped, pointing at another book, "This one is less bittersweet," he said, breaking his hold on your hand.
You giggled, noticing his burning ears, "Well, thank you once again, kind sir," you said, bowing slightly. He chuckled, "The pleasure was all mine, my lady," he said, playing along. Your giggles echoed between the bookshelves, creating an atmospheric moment. "Are you here often?" he asks, curious as to when he could see you again. You nod, "Every alternate day from Monday," you say, holding the book you chose.
He beamed, "Great, till then, my lady. It looks like I'm needed elsewhere," he said eloquently. You giggled, "I had fun conversing with you, Sir Chan," you said, waving as he stepped back. "As did I, my lady," he said, waving back. "Holy shit," you whispered, feeling your heart pound from your chest. Jisung leaned against the shelves, "Who the hell was that?" he teased, a smirk etched on his lips. You flinched, "A stranger that liked the book," you huffed, walking past him.
Jisung's smirk grew wider, "Wait, the book? The one you couldn't stop rambling on about?" he laughed. You rolled your eyes playfully, "The exact one," you said, feeling a twinge of pride. "I mean as long as you didn't scare the poor man away, you might still have a chance before Valentine," Jisung said, ruffling your hair. You glared at him, "It's not like that, he's just interesting," you mumbled, tightening your hold around the book.
Jisung sighed, "For a hero, you really do wear your heart on your sleeve," he said, shaking his head. "What's wrong with that?" you mumbled, crossing your arms. Jisung laughed, "Everything, imagine a hero forgetting their responsibilities after getting stood up at a blind date," he pointed out. You scoffed, "That was one time and it was only a D-class heist, I wasn't even needed on scene," you sulked, defending yourself. "Yeah, yeah," Jisung chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully.
A sigh escaped your lips, "I just want to fall in love, is that too much to ask," you said, setting the book down on the counter. Jisung pursed his lips, "I mean in this economy, you're better off getting into a contract relationship with Cheon-sa," he teased, opening the sign-out book for you to record. "Oh, and let me guess. We own three locations, one each and a shared one for family," you said, smiling at the ridiculousness of it all.
Jisung snapped his fingers, "Exactly, and no offence darling but his type has cock," he said, tucking his hair back with both his hands. You busted out into giggles, "Yeah, and the type that is slightly above average with a slight curve at the tip and is girthy enough that your hands can't wrap around it," you teased, laughing harder at his appalled expression. "Well, fuck you for listing my best friend's type like a diner order," Jisung said, faking a scoff.
You jutted your bottom lip, going behind the counter to hug him, "Aww, come on," you whined. He chuckled, biting his bottom lip, "Fine, I'll keep it a secret. But if you piss me off again, I’m using this as blackmail material," he grinned, petting your head. You giggled, "Deal," you cheered, squishing his cheeks. He whined, "Now the get fuck off me," he cursed, glaring at you. You smiled, grabbing a truffle from his chocolate stash, "Thank you, thank you," you sang, running out of the store. Jisung gasped, "I spent money on those!" he exclaimed, standing up.
He sighed, pushing back his hair, "She's lucky I care about her well-being," he mumbled, walking towards the book cart. "Hello, love," someone said, wrapping their arms around Jisung's waist. "This is getting bad," Jisung chuckled, leaning back into the person's chest while rearranging the books. The person chuckled, "Oh? What do you mean by that?" they asked, nuzzling their face against Jisung's neck.
"I no longer flinch when you hold me by surprise," Jisung said, squirming from how ticklish it felt. "Isn't that a good thing?" the person asks, kissing Jisung's temple. Jisung sighed, "It's bad when your bookstore is the safety hub for Seoul's SS-class hero," he explained, turning to face Minho's cheek grin. Minho cooed, "You and I both know, this bookstore is off-limits for hero/villain rivalry," he said, stroking Jisung's cheek.
"I know but it's in my nature to worry, I practically raised her," Jisung groaned, burying his face into Minho's chest. "She'll be fine, love," Minho reassured, patting Jisung's hair. "But what if," Jisung mumbled, peeking up. Minho cooed, "She has more villains taking care of her than you think," he whispered, placing a kiss on Jisung's forehead.

He is Mine-Chapter 2 (Henry Cavill x male reader)
Masterlist
NOT MY GIF, GIF USED FROM TUMBLR OPTION
18+ DNI if you are lower the age of 18
Warning: mentions of DEATH
Rival #2 Gal Gadot
POV of M/N mom and dad during Week 1 before they left town.
Chris is in the basement home picking up a box and is about to go up the stairs to leave the basement. As he is leaving the basement with the box on hand he opens the door and is walking out until he is startled by his wife Alba. He gets scared and drops the box he was holding, making a loud thud when landing on the floor.
Alba: Oh darling, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.
Chris: It is no issue honey.
Alba: Surprised you still haven’t been able to distinguish my footsteps darling.
Chris: You are the one who has been known for being light on their feet.
Alba: What were you doing in the basement, wait is that the box with all our old letters and voice messages.
Chris: Yeah it is, I've been thinking about throwing them out.
Alba: And why is that darling?
Chris: You really want our kids to find them or worse read and listen to them.
Alba: Come on it won’t be that bad.
Chris: Sweety, I might be ok with the truth of the past but our kids we don’t know about that.
Alba: I highly doubt they will change perspectives, even though adopted they still seem more like me.
Chris: Yeah well anyway why did you want me to wake up early and drop you off at this gas station?
Alba: Well darling the best thing happened today, someone I saw many years ago is back in town and clearly still have interest in me so I had to make sure he knew that I knew he was back into town, I was hoping to catch him at the gas station to welcome him back but he instead ran down an ally.
Chris: Who are you talking about?
Alba: Don’t tell me you are jealous sweetheart.
Chris: Trust me I don’t get jealous especially about another man I know you wouldn’t do anything with another person.
Alba: So romantic honey.
Chris: Any way, who was this guy?
Alba: It was him, the investigator
Chris: What?
Alba: Yeah.
Chris: It can’t be I thought he retired or left town due to him being the laughing stock of the town.
Alba: I guess he is back now, may want to start picking up his investigation again and try to put me into jail again.
Chris: He failed the first time, you even embarrassed him and got him to lose everything while in court what else could he want.
Alba: He is stubborn and might think he can catch me slipping and hopefully reopen the case.
Chris: What do you want to do?
Alba: I’ll tell you about it while we pack our bags and head to the airport
Chris: Yeah that sounds……WAIT AIRPORT as in the place with the planes for people who leave the country?
Alba: Yes darling we are packing our bags and heading to Canada.
Chris: Are you kidding, and our jobs?
Alba: Relax, I took care of it, we get all the time off we need.
Chris: That is great but we got I don’t know THREE KIDS that are in their senior year about to graduate.
Alba: Darling relax, if they are just like their mother they will be fine.
Chris: How long will we be gone for?
Alba: I don’t know, it will depend how fast I can track him down and take care of it.
Chris: Alba sweety.
Alba: Darling don’t worry, I’ll pack and write them a note.
Chris: What about the box? Let me throw it out first.
Alba: Just throw it back down the basement and I’ll write in the note to stay out of the basement, you know they always listen to me.
Chris: Alright honey.
Alba: Do you think when we get back M/N will have a boyfriend I really hope so.
Chris: I hope not, can’t have another child go through a honeymoon phase.
Alba: What you say darling?
Chris: Nothing sweetheart.
Present
You wake up on Monday deeply annoyed when you remember that you have another issue to deal with. Now you have another girl that Henry can possibly fall for, just thinking about it pisses you off. You are ready for school and head downstairs and see your brothers eating and you update them about what you know.
M/N: There is another one.
Sebastian: Another what?
M/N: Another girl that likes Henry
Anthony: What, how do you know?
M/N: Robert told me
Sebastian: Him, and you take his word for it.
M/N: I mean I saw photos. It looked like Henry was getting close with that girl.
Sebastian: Who is the girl?
Anthony: I swear it better not be a student council member.
M/N: It is Gal Gadot
Sebastian: Wait, Gal you serious
Anthony: They are working on a school project together makes sense.
M/N: UGH, what do I do?
Sebastian: I have no idea, just let it play out until something comes to mind.
Anthony: You are so helpful sometimes you know that.
Sebastian shrugs at the comment and before you know it you are walking to school and at the corner where you meet up with Henry. After some time Henry calls out to you and you two start walking to school. “So how was your weekend Henry?” you asked him and he responds “Nothing much just feeling a bit better after what happened with Amy”. You end up asking him how everything is with that and he just responds letting you know the friendship between the two is over and that he is somewhat feeling better. One thing you noticed was that he never mentioned him being at the park or the walk and chat he had with Gal which gets you thinking if anything romantic is really going on. You decide not to push the topic and you two end up getting to school and Henry leaves saying he has to meet with Gal about their project. You end up following him until he reaches the school library and from a corner you listen to their conversation.
Gal: Hey Henry so glad you could meet up before class.
Henry: Yeah it is no problem
Gal: How are you feeling?
Henry: Better actually, the chat and walk with you made me feel better.
Gal: Have you told M/N about what you've been feeling?
Henry: Not really, he doesn’t really need to know.
Gal: Well I feel special. I know something that your best friend doesn’t.
Henry: I guess so.
Gal: Let's continue discussing how we should plan this project.
Henry sits down and starts talking with Gal about the project, hearing say how she thinks she is so special just because she knows a piece of info makes your blood boil. HOW DARE SHE think that. You were going to leave until you saw Gal put her hand on Henry's arm in a playful manner. You felt like something snapped, you were angry, no you were enraged by what you were seeing. After seeing that you left and decided you needed to relax, you go to the roof to relax but unable to come up with a plan you start freaking out on what to do. You go to class and while attending you are unable to focus without thinking of Gal and Henry until class ends. When lunch comes around you start walking by the club rooms and when you pass the Chemistry club you notice the cabinets and see all the chemicals, the dangerous chemicals. Hours pass and you get home and instantly go to your room to come with a plan. You start looking up the names of the chemicals you could see from the cabinet in the chemistry club out of curiosity. You end up finding out that certain chemicals in the club are poisonous, deadly enough to get it done. The temptation becomes strong but you shut off the laptop and quickly try to calm yourself, nearly going crazy at the thought of hurting Gal.
After having a rough night you get to school trying to hopefully have a normal day to see if it was possible to come up with a different strategy, that was until you saw Gal talking to someone and you decide to listen in.
Gal: I mean it, he is so hot.
Friend: I’m not saying you're wrong just making sure you know what you are doing, he did just lose his friend.
Gal: He clearly is throwing signals back, I can’t wait till Friday.
Friend: You really got it bad don’t you, what about M/N?
Gal: What about him?
Friend: They are close friends, what if he doesn’t like you and Henry chooses him over you.
Gal: Highly doubt that, before he knows it, I will be the one having Henry all the time and all that Henry will think about is me
They giggle and walk away, “Alright if that is how you feel, what about a rude awakening you ugly bit….”. Before you finish that thought Anthony comes up to you and smirks.
Anthony: Someone is being productive.
M/N: Shut it, just leaning against this wall.
Anthony:Yeah, sure. Have you come up with anything?
M/N: I…….well….
Anthony: Oh……is it those thoughts?
M/N: What thoughts?
Anthony: You know
M/N: Anthony………..I don’t know what you are talking about.
Anthony: Alright, just know you can do whatever it takes ok and we will have your back just know that.
Your brother leaves you to think about the last thing he said, and without a second thought it can possibly work. Maybe you can to the chemistry club room and seeing how empty it is you go in. The first thing visible is the cabinet and thankfully club members were dumb enough to leave it unlocked. You grab one of the tiny bottles and leave the room and you start wondering what you can do with the poison. But then you remember one thing, pour it into her food and we will have your back just know that.
M/N: Hey I need something.
Robert: What do you need?
M/N: Do you know Gal's usual schedule, like what she does during her free time before class.
Robert: I can send it to you but overall she is always with someone or doing something so she is distracted.
M/N: What about lunch time?
Robert: She packs her lunch in the cooking club, she apparently is good friends with one of the members so they let her put her lunch there and when lunch begins she heads to the club to pick it up and heat it.
M/N: When does she usually leave her lunch in the cooking club?
Robert: It looks like that is one of the first things she does when she gets to school.
M/N: Alright, thx.
You put your phone down and head to the cooking club, none of the club members are inside due to them handing out samples around the school. You open the fridge and see a whole bunch of cooking ingredients but only one lunch box is located inside. You take it out and open it, without hesitation you pour the chemical you grabbed onto the meal. After that you let it air out to get rid of the smell and after that you packed it up again and placed it back in the fridge. Everything is put back in its place and you leave the club room and quickly make your way to class before the bell rings. After hours of classes it finally hits lunchtime and you get to the cooking club and see Gal take out her lunch box. She walks outside and heads to one of the benches near the gymnasium and she sits down and starts eating her lunch. After a couple of minutes of her eating she starts making a face of discomfort then she starts coughing. She gets up and only manages to get like a couple of steps before she falls onto the floor coughing and gagging. After a minute of that she lays still and stops moving, a student comes out of the gymnasium and lets out a scream. Before you could get caught you run away and get yourself into a random room. The student that had screamed heads to the teacher lounge and leads the teacher to Gal. Before you know it an ambulance is called and comes to Gal aid but clearly showing no signs of recovery, the paramedics later call the time of death. Everyone is to their classes and are forced to stay put until class is dismissed early.
The Principal and Guidance Counselor decide to send the students home early and you are making your way home and when you get there you are greeted by your brothers who instantly start bombarding you with questions.
Anthony: Was it you?
Sebastian: You could have done a better job?
Anthony: What did you do exactly?
Sam: How did you do it?
M/N: RELAX!!! One at a time please.
Anthony: So?
M/N: It…..was…..me..
Anthony: How though?
M/N: I poured some poisonous chemical onto her food.
Sebastian: Wait, that was it?
M/N: Yeah
Anthony: We thought it was something more impressive but whatever.
M/N: Why are you guys so relaxed about what I did?
Sebastian: I don’t know, we aren’t really freaked out about this
M/N: Just don’t tell mom.
Anthony: Relax we won’t.
Your brothers walk alway to go make dinner and after eating dinner you head to your room to relax due to you not having homework and plan to enjoy the rest of the week until you receive a text from Henry.
Henry: M/N I feel so freaked after today.
M/N: I know, we just wanted a normal week.
Henry: I was getting along with Gal. I felt devastated after finding out what happened.
M/N: I know, I heard it could be food poisoning, a terrible way to go.
Henry: Yeah I heard about that also, I guess she must have used expired ingredients by accident.
M/N: I guess so, still a terrible thing
Henry: I think I may skip school tomorrow.
M/N: Wait, why?
Henry: I need a day to just process this.
M/N: I get that.
Henry: Wait, skip school tomorrow with me, we can go to the mall or go somewhere to eat just us two.
M/N: Henry you know I would, but I don’t need the school contacting my parents about me missing school while they are out of town.
Henry: Alright makes sense, don’t want you to get your mum angry I guess goodnight.
M/N: Night Henry
Week 2 Saturday
Henry POV
After the end of that school week Henry is walking by the football field, the one day he skipped wasn’t enough for him to get over the death of Gal. While walking by he runs into someone from school and he recognizes him. It is someone from their school football team, Ben Affleck.
Ben: Sorry about that
Henry: No, I’m sorry.
Ben: Hey weren’t you that dude who was working on that project with Gal
Henry: Um, yeah I was.
Ben: Oh ... .must have been hard for you.
Henry: It was but pulling through.
Ben: That is all we can do, how are you feeling overall?
Henry: Just sad, but also numb to it and freaked out since it is so out of knowhere.
Ben: I hear that, just trying to distract myself with practice.
Henry: Yeah I’m currently trying to find a distraction also.
Ben: Hey, I got an idea.
Henry: What is it?
Ben: You seem strong and athletic, can you throw the football at me and help me with my catches you can help practice more and it should distract you for a bit to have you forget about what happened
Henry: You know what sure, sounds like a good idea
Ben: Thank you and trust me playing will help you relax and forget for a bit.
Sunday
M/N POV
You are washing the dishes from eating lunch when you notice your phone starts notifying you about a message. After finishing up you check your phone and to no surprise it is from Robert.
Robert: Congrats on getting rid of Gal, you had successfully killed someone without getting caught. That is impressive.
M/N: I have no idea what you are talking about
Robert: No need to lie or act dumb with me like I said I’m an ally.
M/N: What game are you playing?
Robert: No game just making sure you know who to trust, but most importantly I have some information you may like.
M/N: Which is?
Robert: *Sends of photos of Henry and Ben at the football field* Good looking man right, all those muscles.
M/N: That is Ben Affleck, the football captain of our school.
Robert: Exactly and he seems to be getting close with Henry.
M/N: They seem to be friends.
Robert: Naive aren’t you
M/N: Wait, don't tell me.
Robert: Ben well after some digging he seems to be the classic in the closet Jock an interesting detail just saying.
M/N: Perfect another issue to take care of.
Robert: Shouldn’t you be happy, this can help confirm if Henry is into men right?
M/N: Yeah you are right, but worse if he decides to follow those feelings with Ben.
Robert: Like before, just get to know the details about their building “friendship” and from there you can confirm what you need to do.
M/N: Doing this all again.
Robert: Relax, I’m sure you can take care of it, you seem to know a lot more than you let on, have fun and don’t stress out, remember, Henry is already yours.

In Baltimore City, MD: The sweetest, most affectionate pup dealing with a persistent URI- looking for a comfy home to recover - BARCS, Baltimore MD
If you can foster Cranberry Sauce and give this sweet girl some love and a future life, please email [email protected]
Cranberry Sauce- 3 y/o, unaltered female, 43lbs
Meet Cranberry Sauce, a sweet and affectionate girl who’s ready to melt your heart! This loving pup adores being close to her people—she even tries to climb into your lap if you let her. Cranberry Sauce knows the “sit” command and walks well on the leash. While she enjoys her walks, her favorite activity is sniffing around the play yard, taking in all the interesting scents.
Cranberry Sauce recently had a slumber party with a volunteer, and it was clear from the start that she’s a sweet, affectionate dog with a lot of love to give. For the most part, she appears housebroken, though she did have a few accidents during the night. She was not crated during the stay, and she was very well behaved in the home.
On walks, Cranberry Sauce is a dream! She walks well on the leash, though she might occasionally pull. However, she is easily redirected and doesn’t get too distracted by her surroundings. If she spots another person or dog, she pauses and watches them intently with her tail wagging, clearly very curious.. This calm and gentle curiosity makes her a great companion for leisurely strolls and socializing with other walkers. During her walks, Cranberry Sauce had a few interactions with new people. She greeted everyone with enthusiasm, allowing them to pet her and enjoying the attention. She wasn’t exposed to any children during her stay, but she did show herself to be friendly and open to meeting new humans. Loud noises, such as sounds from the hallway, did startle her at times, causing her to bark a little, but this is a minor quirk that could be addressed with some patience.
At home, Cranberry Sauce is a true cuddle bug. She spent most of her time lounging on the couch, wanting nothing more than to be close to the volunteer. She’s affectionate to the point of climbing right into your lap—even though she’s over 40 pounds! Despite her size, she’s a total lap dog at heart. She also enjoyed playing with a toy for a short while, but her real joy comes from being by your side, soaking up attention and affection.
Cranberry Sauce’s ideal home would be one where she can continue to share her love and affection with her people. She’s very well-behaved in an apartment setting and has proven to be both calm and easygoing while lounging or going for walks. She’s a dog who thrives on companionship and affection, and potential adopters should be ready for a cuddly, loving companion who just wants to be near them. With a little guidance on her housebreaking and occasional barking, she would make a wonderful addition to a home looking for a loyal and snuggly friend.
Unfortunately, poor Cranberry Sauce is dealing with a pretty persistent upper respiratory infection and has been on several different rounds of antibiotics since 11/12. She continues to have excessive coughing with nasal crusts and discharge, so was started on a new antibiotic and coupage (a technique performed by veterinary staff to help clear secretions from the lungs) twice a day.
It's safe to say Cranberry Sauce is having a hard time and we would love to see her recover in the comfort of a home and not in a kennel.
She is available immediately for rescue pick-up.
Please let us know if your organization can help!
Thank you,

hello ! (sorry if this sent twice! Tumblr glitched!)
Thank you for replying to my asks at all- I appreciate any form of contact in reply!
If I maybe said or expressed anything that was off putting about things in expressing ideas about Avery & all- Im so sorry!! I may be overthinking or misreading things (a good part bc im still burnout and a bit stressed probably😅) but wanna make
sure you know that if anything did come across like that- you know im being sincere and listening to you!!
That's all super interesting about the world Avery came from and the life forms it may/may not have!!
The little creature is adorable and anything you create from these ocs are super interesting to hear about! I love hearing about the new characters and info you post! So thank you for telling me more so l can also understand more! It's nice to learn! ...and maybe learn how to send more affective teases to see if they'd fluster a certain Cloud or better yet...a Casp-Lee, if you will- {sorry for the silly play on words lol} ehehe)
I hope you are doing okay though!! I keep contemplating making a blog to talk more as me/my OC & actually DM’ing you directly!! but I worry I would be bugging you and the whole little tickly tumblr community a bit! But I hope you’re having a good day and getting some more down time since it seems like you’ve been working so hard/ busy!! Lots of good vibes and silly teases sent your way~✨
-Firefly Lee 🎇
No no, don't apologize! 💙 Nothing wrong with your ask at all, I just can't help infodumping about Avery and his world... haha. //// I'm so glad you liked the little critter, though!
Geee! //// Trust me, your teases are... plenty effective on me. 😵💫 If there's anything you DON'T need to apologize for when it comes to me, it's a play on words... 💙
WAAAAAA!!! 💙
Not forced, obviously, but I'd be thrilled to interact with you and chat if you wanted to!! You wouldn't be a bother to me at all!! I obviously can't speak for the whole community, but I personally say the more the merrier when it comes to people expressing themselves through art or writing! I'd love to have you, I'm sure we all would!
Yes, I am still very busy, sadly! 😵💫
I actually decided to stop doing tickletober for that reason... I probably should've made a formal announcement, but I guess this is as good a time as any. I had so much fun with it, but the main thing I really wanted to challenge myself to do was complete a sketch every day... and then I realized that even before tickletober, I was pretty much already doing that, haha. I don't see that stopping any time soon, either... I still have more ideas than I can even draw, especially now that Damon is here, and I'm getting ready to bring in another OC soon! I wish I had time to draw my lore stuff and do tickletober, but unfortunately I don't have time for both.
Anyway:
Thank you so much for this ask, happy Monday, I hope you had a great weekend, and feel free to message me any time!! 💙
