As it goes with every new brainrot I have, it’s time for Kirby crossover again :)

Kirby in one piece! With one piece’s strong focus on dreams and found family, I thought it would fit for Kirby to be a pirate that dreams of sailing to the stars and beyond. Not that this is very achievable by normal means, but we know that it’s at least possible with Eneru and the Skypiea arc :D

Kirby has the devil fruit power of the copy-copy fruit! A paramecia activated by contact and only able to copy one fruit at a time. It can copy logias and paramecias with no problems, though actual ability using the fruit’s powers is up to Kirby to practice and figure out. Zoans can only be copied to partial transformations and cannot be awakened. Kirby doesn’t have much of a mind for haki but has a lot of latent conquerer’s haki that he doesn’t realize— it’s one of the reasons he’s able to make friends so effortlessly.

Meta Knight in this AU is a retired marine, between Captain and Rear Admiral level. He has a bat model zoan fruit that allows him to grow wings, and is a skilled swordsman. He’s retired from the marines but acts a his own separate party that is neither revolutionary, marine, nor pirate, keeping his own fleet known as the Meta-Knights. Their actions are similar to pirates despite not flying a Jolly Roger. They claim territory to protect and occasionally fight other pirate crews, and they claim no allegiance to the world government. They simply go where they are needed. Meta Knight will sometimes sail with Kirby on his small ship, the Popstar, just to keep Kirby out of trouble and make sure the ship is well stocked and well-maintained and able to be seaworthy.

Dedede is the king to one of the small countries that isn’t represented at the Reverie. That means he has a lot more freedom to do his own thing, including setting sail while taking a crew of Dees with him and leaving the country in the hands of some administrative Dees. Dedede splits his time between exploring and sailing and returning home to run his country, with the help of his trusty second in command, Bandanna Dee. Dedede has a penguin model Zoan fruit, and Bandanna doesn’t have any devil fruit but is proficient in coating their spear in haki. They’re the designated save-the-fruit-user-from-drowning person when they’re on deck.

Kirby’s crew changes because a lot of the people he recruits tend to have their own responsibilities. His crew is also full of people he’s beaten. It’s not uncommon for Kirby to sail alone, though he gets into more scrapes than usual with bad weather and rough waves. It can hardly be called a pirate crew, but Kirby has collected all the most heinous criminals under his banner and as such, the world government treats it as a threat.

Once upon a time...

If every universe is its own self-contained “seed,” and every alternate of it a new “sprout” branching outwards, then “Earth” and “Wonderland” must be two seeds planted in the same field. So close as to share concepts, but vastly differing in natural law and history. 

The flow of time in Wonderland had long since been corrupted. It became encased in an isolated samsara, where the same few people would be reincarnated and history would repeat itself. Their stories became twisted, lost to time and faded memories. Everything changed, and yet everything remained the same.

“I see,” observed a certain being who had taken it upon himself to watch both Earth and Wonderland. “Their desires for a ‘happy ending’ have changed the fundamental laws of that world. Then, if it’s a ‘happy ending’ they want… I will write it for them.”

So he undertook his next task, indulging himself in the name of ‘order.’ A story he wrote by taking bits and pieces and fragments from others, a System he programmed, a method of fixing the error as much as his powers allowed him to.

“Now… What shall I name this story? Ah, yes, this one sounds fitting—Twisted Wonderland. It’s what they call themselves, isn’t it?”

It was complete—or, rather, it was almost complete. There was only one problem: his story lacked the perfect main character. A novel is pointless without a protagonist; a game is pointless without a player. As the ‘author,’ the ‘administrator,’ he could not fill that role.

Therefore, he created a blank vessel and waited. And waited, and waited.

Until finally, a soul with that same desire for a “happy ending” came along. It was a pitiful soul, one that had ended its life on Earth far too early. It even bore resemblance to that of the Spectator’s original body.

“How amusing. Then, why don’t I give you this second chance?”

Gently, he guided the soul into the blank vessel and allowed natural desires and magic to adjust its shape. 

“You will gaze into their memories, get to know them, and eventually set them on a new path.  But for you, there is nothing but the vague promise of a ‘happy ending’ waiting. So I’m looking forward to seeing it—what choices you will make along the way and where that will take you.”

He smiled, and allowed the story to take its course.

“All things considered, it's a win-win situation, isn’t it? After all, 'endings' are just new beginnings.”

The presence before the 'protagonist' feels overwhelming, but not oppressive. Still, it sends an eerie chill through his whole body - he's survived eight overblots, and yet to come face to face with this kind of being...

I wish Casey would've said how far this wizard is supposed to be.

Me and Toto didn't pack for a long journey or nothing. It's getting near sunset. I guess this place, wherever it is, is a couple hours behind New York City.

I'm starting to get the idea Shredder's done a lot worse around here than he's done yet at home. Maybe that's because back home, me and my brothers stopped him. I don't know, but we passed a little town--and I mean a really little town--and the people were real appreciative of us getting rid of him. The munchkins sure gave us a heck of a sendoff, but I haven't seen anything between there and here, so I'm surprised the news spread so fast.

I guess I'm just not used to being thanked for stuff, out in the open like this. It's weird; it feels nice, but it also kinda gives me the creeps. Don't like being all exposed.

Anyway, the little people, they were a lot more helpful than Casey. Their advice is if I'm not ready for a long journey I gotta stop before I get to the forest. I can see it up ahead. I'll pass right by that corn field before then; maybe I can talk to somebody there, get some food. Or not talk to somebody and still get some food. I'll feel safer sleeping with at least a bit of cover.

They also said I'd find people along the way who could help. I'll be honest, that drove me a little bit crazy; none of them seem to be volunteering to come along. If the forest is dangerous, it sure would be nice to have help before getting there, not after.

But whatever. I think these guys are just scared. Can't say I blame them. I think they're a bit smarter than the munchkins that way; Shredder may be gone, but this Vigilante of the West ain't gonna be pleased if she hears I'm going to see the wizard. I'd be real happy not to see her again at all, but seeing how much road is still ahead, I'm sure word'll get back to her.

We just gotta get to that corn field before dark. Toto's full turtle, she doesn't mind walking and chewing on weeds here and there, but I got some mutant in me. I need food and sleep.

I wonder how my family is doing. Did whatever Shredder did pull them into this upside down world, too? I kinda hope so, 'cause if not I guess they must've been caught in the flood. It's not that I miss their company or nothing, I'm just worried, you know?

Toto gets it. She's a real good listener.
