Don't even get me started on the fact that homophobes assume that being gay automatically makes you a sexual deviant. It doesn't matter if a movie/show has zero sex scenes in it, no "crude" or "offensive" humor, if there is a queer couple in it, that's basically an orgy in the eyes of conservatives. Andi Mack anyone? Bluey? I remember in a interview with Alex Hirsch, he talked about how in the Gravity Falls episode Love God, he originally wanted two elderly women to fall in love with each other, but the censors said absolutely not.

Movies that show black joy, black couples having a happy, intimate, romantic, sexual relationship are often put on the back burner. Keep in mind with how little representation Hollywood gives black voices, especially ones that are not harmful stereotypes, it's important for black people to see themselves represented in the media as being happy. Then you also have to acknowledge the fact that when black people make black movies for black audience, they get terrible funding, little to no advertising, and limited run in theaters. Regardless of if a black movie is meant to discuss social issues or it's just the campy movie that happens to star a all black cast, many non black people assume it's automatically political because its made by black people and feel that it would not be a all age is appropriate movie. Despite the fact that they know nothing about the movie and the reality that kids need to be taught about everything. We already know that children in elementary school already start to experience racism from their peers. So I assure you, watching racially diverse films it's the least of society's problem.

Horror is my absolute favorite genre. I'm not saying it's never problematic or you can't criticize it, there are movies that definitely deserve criticism. Sorry, stay with me here I'm about to break this down into two topics.

Horror is good for children. It helps give children a safe contained space to explore different issues, scenarios, and topics that can really help get the critical thinking going. A child reading a book about another child who gets kidnapped and is able to escape from their kidnapper because they figured out how to free themselves is actually good information. It's easy to laugh it off as it's not real life but let's be honest, we know that bad things happen in the real world all the time. Think about how many conservatives get angry when sex ed in schools is brought up because they think it's inappropriate for children to learn? They also don't like media that specifically gets into consent. It's because a lot of them turn out to be pedos themselves. They don't want the children they are abusing to catch on that they need to tell another adult about it.

Horror is the only genre I can think of that features the most physically and mentally diverse characters out there. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that the plots are usually ableist. Going back to some constructive criticism needs to be had. At the same time though I can think of over a dozen horror movies off the top of my head with real disabled actors in them. How many movies can you think off the top of your head that are not under the horror genre that feature disabled characters? The 1930 film freaks, features a cast of disabled characters. The film was banned for decades because it was considered "grotesque". When American Horror Story freak Show came out, it was very heavily influenced by Freaks. There's some really good interviews with the cast about how they don't find being called a freak offensive. They explained their disabilities, what their life is like, and what they want people to know about them. Despite the title, the cast is very open about sharing their voice and being open with their disabilities. You also have iconic horror actor like Javier Botet who is very open about the fact that he has Marfan syndrome. Botet does not necessarily do child friendly horror but a lot of kids do see his horror movies and love him. Oftentimes when I speak with families of a child with Marfan syndrome, Botet is the first real world example of a famous person with the same condition as the children. It absolutely makes children happy to see that their favorite monster on screen has the same disability as them. Granted this is not true for everyone with Marfan syndrome. I have met people with Marfan syndrome who hate the horror genre and that is okay. Have also met other people with marfan syndrome who love horror films and love seeing actors with the same disability as them.

Child media is so heavily censored as it is. Adult media does not need to be handled with kid gloves as well. Children should not be watching cocomelon because we already know it rots their brains, adults really don't need to be fed cocomelon-esque type of slop. Sorry/not sorry for going on a long rant there. We need diverse stories with diverse characters in them. Adults deserve to have good media that yeah touches on issues that make SOME people uncomfortable. To the person who experiences discomfort watching certain types of media, what exactly is it that makes you uncomfortable? If it's a burry your gays Trope or poc, disabled, and women's lives are disposable while the white man lives I can understand disappointment at seeing your life devalued time and again. If you are outrage though because we got to see the actresses nipple, the rapist priest got decapitated, a group of Native Americans are killing the group of white zombies who are trying to kill them, the white abled body cishet man is the only character to die, or God forbid we should see a black woman kissing an Asian woman, then you need to sit in the corner and unpack that.

It’s a bit of a strange thing I’ve had on my mind but will the fandom forever consider the twst boys to be the age on their profile?

I know that they have had birthdays because the main story has been progressing through the months but they never changed in the profile menus. Not with the player moving through the game or with the years of the games release, this is pretty normal though for most games. I only actually started thinking about this because they changed Silvers name at the end of chapter 7, including in the character menu after you compete that part of the story… so they do update the profiles as the story progresses? It’s just a funny thing I’ve had in my mind and I wonder if they will ever update them (prolly not cause their birthdays aren’t celebrated in the main story) but I wonder how the fandom will consider their ages at this point in the story?

Time has definitely been passing in the main story! Months and school events + holidays associated with them (such as winter break, the new year, etc.) have been mentioned several times.

Book 7 ends on May 15, Silver’s birthday, which officially makes him 18 years old. This is explicitly stated by Malleus and therefore confirms that anyone with a birthday from September to May 15 should have aged up one year. It also means that the ages currently stated on the character profiles are the ages the characters are at the START of the school year (in September). This is also confirmed by Yana herself via Twitter.

There’s been a few instances of the profiles in Twst updating:

Firstly, Ortho pre-book 6 and post-book 6. Before book 6, his profile is pretty short and does not include the same level of detail as other students. After book 6, Ortho gets the same level of detail as other students, as this is when he formally becomes one. Things like class, club, and best subject are finally added.

All of the NRC staff had their profiles updated (in the JP server) too; this coincided with the 5th anniversary QoL updates and not any in-game story event. This added many more details to the basic staff profiles (which we still see in EN). The updated JP profiles include details like their birthdays, the club they were in when they were a student, special talent, etc.

And then we have Silver, whose profile updates at the end of book 7 to reflect his new surname. This was the only change he received; all other details (including his age) are the same.

To this day, there has been NO age-related changes to the Twst character profiles. I find this odd since Ortho and Silver’s profiles changed to correspond with main story events which clearly indicate the passage of time. Shouldn’t all characters’ ages also go up as the main story progresses instead of staying the static number that they were in September/at the start of the school year? Regardless of what the profiles currently say though, the fact remains that many characters have gone up a year in age by book 7’s end.

I’m not exactly sure how the fandom is treating this? I’d imagine that it varies based on the individual fan 🤷‍♀️ I feel like most people will go with whatever ages they’d be at by whatever point in the main story they’re at, since the main story literally went and said Silver IS 18 now. Of course, there will always be those few extreme fans who claim you cannot EVER age up a character because they assume it’s for Weird purposes and not just people wanting to acknowledge character development and the natural progression of time. Personally, I’m big on following canon (and love exploring how the boys change with their experiences!!) so I choose to treat the characters as however old the main story timeline implies they are.

Actually this is something the fandom has been wondering about for 40 years straight (at least the ones that love this psycho war birdy).

Now, let me add my two cents to this analysis.

I also noticed the resemblances between RC and pre-war Skybound Starscream. They seem to be quite alike in the terms of his good nature with some flaws. Also, the fact is G1 cartoon Star is the only Dcon who was portrayed in a good way in a flashback. At this point, we all have to agree that pre-war Starscream was certainly a nice and good person. And this is the main reason b/c G1 Star is a beloved character.

It’s true that Starscream is different in every media, but I also find this version of him is quite similar to Shattered Glass and Armada’s versions of him, unlike IDW, who was a more grey morale guy before the war. This is important because Armada and SG are both involved in the war actively, but their morals still being very high; sure, Armada always had been a soldier and probably he didn’t live before the war, and SG glass is basically the opposite version of everything.

But they both remained the same nice persons, in spite of the war molded them.

So, why didn't this happen in the G1 cartoon and Skybound?

As you pointed out, in SB, he suffered a very traumatic experience and Meggs found him in a very vulnerable situation. In spite of the fact that you cannot portray a full background in a couple of pages (let’s be honest: Skybound’s narrative is quite random).. the problem is neither G1 cartoon nor RC novel truly show up the real reason behind. They just give some clues here and there about what could happen to him.

I agree about Skyfire’s and Starscream's friendship before the war. The shuttle hardly could have accepted him as a friend; he has a very clear idea about his morals and basically he has no reasons to join the Dcons once he learned how they’re. But don’t forget this: in G1 is established that Dcons were, by default, military war-framed Cybertronians (quite much alike war ants in an anthill)... and Starscream also claims to be cockly he’s “the proud of the Cybertronian war academy”. So: wasn’t he a scientist of the Cybertronian version of National Geographic?

This means, at some point, he joined the academy, as it should be due the war-frame function. But: when??

At first, I thought he did after he came back to Cybertron and learned a war was happening. For some unknown reason (THE reason) he decided to join it and become a warrior with quite good results, embracing his war nature. However, the fandom has developed the idea in a different way: he was in the military academy in the early stages of his life, because he’s a seeker and that’s what seekers do. But eventually he decided to become a scientist, dismissing his initial function.

And that’s when RC came across again. This story pisses me because the plot has the potential to be really a thing… but the conflict attached to the plot is really biased!  The G1 cartoon was quite flat in many ways, so it just ignored many important things…. But this novel just IGNORES the elephant in the room. Optimus just realizes Dcons are like that because of personal experiences?? Seriously??

At least the cartoon added the “Brain smash machine” as a reason to make Cybertronans evil, just like happened with the Constructicons and their friendship with Omega Supreme. It’s stupid, yes, but at least there is one reason!

I guess this is the main reason because the fandom thinks Nominist and Functionalism reasons that appear in IDW and Aligned continuities are very valid reasons to make Dcons-.. to be Dcons. They’re a revolutionary faction against the establishment, which eventually become out of control. We know G1 is not IDW nor Aligned, but at least this makes sense and those reasons could be applied to Starscream.

On the other hand, Skybound has its own canon. We don’t know what caused the war, but at least, we have a general idea about what happened to our favorite seeker boy.

Day something of crying over how similar pre war Skybound Starscream/Ulchtar and amnesiac g1 Redemption center Starscream are, literally my first time reading issue 13 I was reminded of RC. Starscream without his memories and essentially a blank state was just exactly how Ulchtar used to be before Genvo's death and meeting Megatron.

His natural state was so polite,reasonable,intelligent and curious, these traits got morphed into more twisted versions once the war started. I always did wonder why was someone like Jetfire close friends with Starscream in g1? because Jetfire couldn't tolerate a few hours with the decepticons noticing how they were, and if we take RC being a g1 adjacent story(since I believe they do mention events of some episodes in season one I think)it makes sense because Starscream was also a pretty nice/decent person back then.

As I recall redemption center had a whole conversation with the Autobots trying to figure out if there was a way they could influence and reason with decepticons- with some even suggesting brainwashing which Optimus was against- but it was mostly about trying to understand whether they were inherently bad people or was it circumstances that shaped them into who they are today- eventually realizing it was the latter for the most part, by the end Optimus narrowed down that without whatever happened in his past Starscream would have been a different person but it was the past that influenced and changed his personality to the one he currently has, that's why upon remembering despite a part of himself wanting to look at a possible bright future a few moments ago he felt he had no choice but to continue his old ambitions because he at his current state will never able to able to go back to who he used to be. That person is dead,and I think Starscream himself does miss his past self too he seemed partially disappointed that he remembered when Optimus realizes this.

This line especially stood out.

I wonder everyday what would have happened had it been Optimus who met him first instead of Megatron. I wonder what was G1 Starscream's inciting incident like Skybound with the death of his friend. What happened to him after that expedition where he lost Jetfire and before he met the decepticons?

Like not trying to excuse anything,he was always pretty full of himself to an extent,in the he wanted to be validated kind of way but he still had morals and it wasn't borderline narcissism back then.

I wish he just went with Jetfire instead of staying. Not that it would've helped much but maybe then he wouldn't been corrupted due to war in the specific way he did. At the end of the day his actions are still his own and he did hurt so many people but I do still feel bad for him. My war criminal pookie.

Now I'm just wondering it really does add up to his relationship with Jetfire/Skyfire because after Fire in the Sky they literally act like strangers, for Jetfire it makes sense because the guy shot him for dead, but Starscream was acting strange even before that to the point even Megatron pointed it out. Thinking about it it really does make sense why, when he chose to shoot Jetfire it wasn't just a simple act of ending an old friendship, it was him severing the last connection he had to his past self, he chose to discard that part of himself completely that the friend he once spent so long mourning and even searched half the globe for,he had no hesitation shooting that same person down.

It's even more evident when Jetfire asks him if he's happier being a warrior than a scientist, to him of course it is, why would he want to go back to who he used to be? Starscream likely associates his past self with weakness in Skybound's case weakness that allowed Genvo to be killed,weakness of hesitating to kill prisoners for the cause that's why he doesn't like being reminded of his past. And it explains why he's kind of a control freak in a way he hates it when things are out of his control,he hates it when people try to control him so he follows the mentality he'd be even worse than them. Because this world is for the strong, something he told Thundercracker. If you were weak you die or lose what you care about.

And the fact he isn't initially drawn by Megatron when he and Soundwave come to get him back in RC while being in Optimus' care says a lot, a lot of things relied completely on circumstance Skybound Starscream was in a very vulnerable moment when he first met Megatron he just lost one of his best friends,lost his work station and saw Optimus himself shoot Genvo down in the crossfire, then in came Megatron. The panelling of that moment really does give the feeling to Starscream Megatron was like a saviour he was the one who gave him a new purpose in life,who saved him but in reality played the biggest part in his damnation.

The thing is I geniunely do not believe who Ulchtar was would have become the person Starscream is today without Megatron's influence, if he never met the latter and had been left to his own devices he would have continued to suffer for sure and have been a victim of war like Jetfire eventually became in the future, he would've either remained depressed and get more cynical or have died as a civilian later down the line,who he is today is a result of Megatron grooming him into being that way. He didn't show any real signs of wanting revenge at all, and seemed at a loss, until the latter tempted him and even then he was still willing to hold onto his morals up until he was forced to kill those POW against his will.

Megatron himself is a complex charecter and I can see why he also turned out the way he did because of that same cycle of violence but he did play a role in exacting that same pain onto others,same way Starscream in the present is hurting so many people who did not deserve it either. Again, the purpose of this post is not to say he was completely innocent, he is still accountable for his own crimes I'm not denying the fact, that regardless of what circumstances drew him to this point he did still hurt other people too.

There are so many gaps in the timeline of G1 SS's backstory I really want to know what the heck happened? This is only clue when he was remembering everything the minute he did he just couldn't stay even if he understood himself that going back was just ruining whatever bridges he could have formed.

Fun fact : Ironically he remembered his backstory upon falling/thrown off a cliff by Soundwave and being in a shock like state,much like RC losing his memory upon falling off a cliff and hitting his head lol. Soundwave also found it so funny he was looping the same footage over and over like a TikTok reel all the while enjoying seeing Megatron crash out over Optimus and Starscream and having the best time of his life and slightly manipulating Megatron into making efficient decisions. My Boy was winning for once. I feel like they did take some inspiration from RC.

King’s utter distaste and hatred of Lightners seems to be born of his trauma-based distrust. As far as he’s concerned, his betrayal of Ralsei's Mercy was totally justified cause the Lightners were undoubtedly just trying to use his trust to get access to the Fountain, seal it and leave the entirety of Card Kingdom as abandoned toys condemned to languish in despair once more.

He sees friendship as Lightners just using or tricking his fellow Darkners. In his eyes, Lightners will always see Darkners as objects first and foremost. To Lightners, they will always be Things that will become obsolete and will get thrown away eventually. Their eventual abandonment is inevitable, and if it hasn’t happened yet… it will happen sooner or later. He rationalize his closed-off and cruel heart as just…. The only possible way to respond to the Lightners’ inability to care for them.

On some level this is meant to be an obvious parallel to Susie and her mindset pre-Character-Development. She has also a hurt person who constantly lashed out at others because experience had convinced her that everyone was gonna abandon her at best, actively hurt her at worst.

As the lead villain of Chapter 1, King obviously played a huge part in Susie unlearning that toxic coping mechanism. Although... I don't know if she consciously noticed the parallels between them or if it's mostly about how his existence is the impetus for her conflict with Lancer, that taught her about the importance of non-violent conflict resolution and not assuming the worst of people

And also the cause of her and Kris becoming Battle Buddies.

And... also, since Chapter One, Susie has been consistently invalidating King's justification for his cruelty. Even if he refuses to acknowledge it, and Susie herself not really understanding King’s reasoning at the time and probably not really consciously thinking about them since she kicked his ass, she has become the walking, roaring, axe-swinging counterargument to King’s whole deal.

Susie always treats Darkners as people, or, well, at least since she learned to treat people in general as people. At first she didn't even understand the concept that they're 'really' objects, and when she did, she adamantly refused to let this change the way she sees them. And especially refused to ever allow them to be abandoned and cast aside.

Being Recruited into Castle Town seems like it's basically circumventing the terrible fate King thought the Card Castle Darkners were condemned to when their Fountain was sealed... But he doesn't buy it. He just think about it as the Lightners once again temporarily taking them out to play, and that once Susie and Kris get finish their adventure or just get bored, all the Darkners will be cast out once again - justifying his decision to continue to wallow in misery and resentment in his cell.

And... it's not like he's totally wrong. At the very least, we know that the leader of Castle Town would have rationalized it as a totally understandable and justified move if they all stopped being of use to Kris and Susie.

But we know that’s not how Susie sees it, for her the people of the ever-growing Castle Town are just as real as the people of Hometown…. The only difference is that she probably has more friends in Castle Town.

But at this point I think King might be far too emotionally invested in his own pessimistic distrust to see it, to know that Susie totally defy his cynical expectations of the world, that maybe Susie is exactly the Lightner he wished for when he still had hope in his heart… and even if he did… Susie sees him as a person, but in this case she sees him as a total asshole and it’s hard to imagine that impression of him changing anytime soon.

Nah they were really trying to kill me with the Jinmao moments today oh my god wtf?? The near kisses, the yearning on Jinshi’s face, the way they look at each other.. hello?!!! That’s how you end a season after all the teases they’ve had all season long. “The beginning” is such a good title for this episode because this truly is the start of a very different Jinmao relationship, new role for Maomao, new political era for the kingdom and new life for so many other characters we met this season!! Especially happy for Suirei and the kids, Ah-Duo is an angel.

Not even gonna try to hide it, the Jinmao stuff is what made this finale so amazing to me 😭 I deserved this. The way Maomao acted like an overprotective wife and made sure Jinshi’s bandages were wrapped properly, him pulling her down to lay with him and checking her bruises.. ahh I was so weak during that whole sequence. Peep how Jinshi face lit up when Maomao said he looked better with the scar too, bro was smiling like a mf lmaoo. Almost got a kiss there but those damn kids had to wake up, typical married couple experience

“Can we continue some other time??” UM HELLO JINMAO ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME??

The one thing I hate here is that everyone left Xiaolan without saying goodbye and she’s the sweetest, most innocent and vulnerable one of the group. That really broke my heart seeing Maomao read her letter.. I’m glad she got a job away from the palace, but her best friends and basically sisters just up and leaving and her not knowing the real reason hurts sm. Maomao crying there just shows how truly human she’s become and how she’s grown over this season.

They kinda went through it quickly, but Maomao’s little depressive stage there is so important for her character. That “I hope they never find her” because that means she can keep some hope that Shisui is still out there alive and then the finger cutting scene because she wouldn’t be able to see Jinshi again.. massive scenes for her character development

Not grandma playing matchmaker and trying to make sure Jinshi and Maomao get together. Biggest Jinmao shipper of all lmao. But the freaking neck bite and pulling her in for the hug??! Jinshi are you insane or what?? “Do you have poison in you too?” OH MY GOD WE WERE SO CLOSE FUCK YOU KYOU-U 😭 at least we know Maomao 1000 percent knows how Jinshi feels and she knows her feelings are starting to change too. We will reach the promised land one day.

Shisui, now Tamamo, living happy and free is all I can ask for. She looks so pretty and at peace. Perfect ending. Perfect season. Peak fiction. Can’t wait for season 3!!

Ryan is very talented. I think it’s sad that 911 doesn’t even utilize him properly. I know that’s not what you’re saying and I’m not trying to hijack that post you made about Ryan acting in movies, but all of the pre-season interviews and press were about Ryan, done by Ryan, and said that Eddie was going to go through all of this change and growth and struggle and learn about himself…. And that sounded so good!

And we basically got…NOTHING.

I mean really when you take a step back and look, what was Eddie’s storyline this season? Nothing happened to him or for him, really.

Also the fact that Ryan wasn’t getting scripts and was assuming he was being fired?? That…is so shitty. I don’t know what their contracts are like, and I know a consistent acting job and so hard to come by and it’s a privilege to be on a hit tv show, but damn. I wouldn’t blame him at all if he left.

but no literally like they built up his storyline so much, and featured him so heavily in press and promo leading up to 8a, hyping up all of the “big changes” he was going to go through and then just…. didn’t change anything…. they focused his entire 18 episode arc around something that happened in the last 2 episodes of s7 and didn’t even really make much of an effort for that to even really do much for his character

like some of the only episodes i really enjoyed from this season were disconnected and invisible, but neither of those episodes really told us anything new about eddie- just further reiterated what a great dad he is while implying that that was something he had to become (despite him already having been a great dad for the past 7 seasons)

and you’re so right sbout the script thing the fact that the first thing he thought when tim told him someone was getting killed off was that he thought it was eddie, it’s absolutely disgusting how he gets treated by the writers/production when he’s quite literally 1) a massive fan favorite, 2) sitting on top of a potential storyline that has the potential to exponentially improve the show’s success, and 3) one of the best actors they have in the cast

and he’s not the only underutilized cast member this last season, Tracie and Aisha were so robbed of good material left and right, and when they did get moments, they felt kind of out of place or rushed (i stand by the fact that the b plot of invisible should have been about Ravi, and not about Hen bc it would have made more sense, and Hen and Karen should have gotten their own standalone episode in 8b rather than wasting time on THREE multi-part disasters)

and the fact that they kept using ryan/eddie in PR for the season while giving him absolutely nothing of true substance… it’s made me learn not to trust them when they imply certain things because at this point, the only things that ever end up happening are the things in these interviews that make fans go “oh god i hope it doesn’t go there” (at least in my experience)

Severus Snape Headcanons (NSFW)

▪︎ Severus is silent in bed. Considering he was bullied, had a terrible home situation and barely had any (known) good connections with his peers, self-esteem issues and a trauma-cocktail are a given. As a result, he's plagued by performance anxiety and shame about his own sexuality - if a sigh or a moan ever escapes his lips, he'll cringe at himself. He probably never got over it based on his unhealed self, seen in the way he deals with conflicts and strong feelings in the books.

▪︎ Because of that, I imagine him wanting to hide his face during the act, either by burying his face into a pillow or choosing a convenient position. He doesn't want anyone to see his stupid facial expressions when he feels good.

▪︎ Severus doesn't have time to fuck. How can he when there are students to teach, essays to grade, potions to brew, meetings to hold with parents, teachers conferences, and later on his work as a spy. He's lucky if he has the time to have a full night's sleep.

▪︎ The avoidance of his own sexuality in combination with his sexual frustration due to a lacking outlet create a confusing and intense mess that he ends up just bottling up. After all, there are worse problems to take care of like war, not blowing his cover, the safety of the students, and much more. But by not meeting his needs, he is setting himself up to implode eventually.

▪︎ Severus loathes letting go. He needs to stay in control of himself at all times and can't slack off. He will never be fully relaxed, his body always stiff and not responsive for stimulation, not ready to shut his brain off. So the moments where he does lose control are incredibly intense. Of course he'll reprimand himself afterwards for fucking like a madman and scream-moaning like a whore. That just comes with self-esteem issues.

▪︎ Imagine: His partner gives him a blowjob. Severus is getting closer and wants to pull out to not cum inside. But his partner is determined to make him finish in their mouth and therefore grab his ass to keep him stuck inside, and after some resistance, Severus's control just snaps and ends up face-fucking his partner.

As I said before, Loki tends to get these random outbursts of energy surprisingly often. No one really knows why. Does he have ADHD? Perhaps he's secretly a cat disguised as a god who needs to get his zoomies out? Or maybe he merely just loves being a terror? Who knows. Regardless, it's a habit (if you could call it that) that he just never grew out of.

That's right, it's been happening ever since he was a little child. Thor and Frigga can attest to that.

You'll almost always be able to tell when that trouble-making itch is creeping up on him. That switch between calm and chaos will flip, and suddenly, he seems... different. Maybe a little more intense. Maybe he'll speak a little faster. Maybe he'll just stare at you with that familiar smirk on his face that always comes with these moods.

It will start off small and then-- BAM! He's jumping you from behind and pinning you down to the floor. Why? Cause he can.

Lowkey, terrifying chases. It's all playful, but it may not feel like it when you've suddenly got a literal god sprinting after you, making all kinds of threats that would make you believe he either wants to kill you or... do something else...

No worries, though. When he does catch you (because he absolutely will), you'll get attacked with nothing more than kisses.

Honestly, it can all be a bit overwhelming, especially for the first few times you experience this with him. It can be overstimulating, even a little scary. But if he ever notices that he's gone too far, he'll stop and apologize for letting himself get carried away. He would never mean to hurt you.

Play fighting ALL the way. He loves just grabbing you and roughing you up. You give him major cuteness aggression when he's in such a state.

Imagine him calmly excusing himself from a serious conversation, just to run off and find you, wherever you are, hurl you over his shoulder, and make off like a thief.

His highly energized moods also include causing trouble for you and whoever else is within range at the moment, so don't think it's all just conveniently cute things he does. We're talking turning your plate of food into a plate of larvae and maggots. Or cutting your hair terribly. Or turning into a snake and... okay, he only does that to Thor, but you get my point.

Want a word of advice? DO NOT give him any kind of food that has dyes in it. It makes it worse. His system isn't used to such ingredients, mostly because they aren't really a thing in Asgard, so whatever you do, don't give him anything, especially candy, that has food colorings in it.

One of his previous outbursts may or may not have started an intergalactic war between two other planets because he simply wanted to see what would happen if he pitted them against each other.

War. That's what happens, Loki. War.

Depending on how energized he gets, when it starts to ware off, he actually might get a bit tired. All that terrorizing and instigating can be exhausting.

Whether if he's already with you or if he has to come find you, he'll likely just silently wrap his arms around you from behind and bury his face into your neck until you give in and cuddle with him.

Dumb Killers. Sometimes referred to as DK, or, Dumbest Killars - it is a fic that has occupied my thoughts for many a moon. To this day, I can recall the fateful night I came across it; I saw one of your posts, advertising the most recent chapter, and though I had no experience in reading x readers, nor was I fan of La Squadra, I gave it ago... and I have no regrets. To me, this fic is equivalent to a novel, I think if you changed the names of the characters, it WOULD be an original novel; in less than a year you've written more than most authors would in their lifetime and that's just amazing, isn't it?

I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT, right here, because I've been writing little notes as I read and I'm connecting dots AND THERE'S A PATTERN so please... please Abby listen to my ted talk...

There are THREE reoccurring themes throughout Dumb Killers:

The concept of "Good vs. Bad"/"Black and White Morality", the importance of "Fate" and how to break through it, and placing the "Blame" - these themes intertwine with each other perfectly; Who is a good person, and who is a bad person? Is it really their fault that they are bad, or is their behaviour out of their own control? And who is to blame for the reason they're like this? Who is to blame for what happens to them?

The first time we get an instance of the "Good vs. Bad" is in the VERY FIRST CHAPTER, where we are introduced to MC, her father and her mother - the three are blinding parallels of one another. The father is an instance of pure "Bad", MC an instance of pure "Good", and the mother a gateway between the two, this chapter sets it up so that we, the audience, are favourable toward the mother - we believe she is a good person, trying to do the best for herself and her daughter in a world, even if it means doing unfavourable things. Ect. Refusing to help Melone, driving her husband to suicide, essentially kidnapping MC.

After her death, she becomes sanctified - idolised by MC, who believes herself to retain her "Pure goodness" despite entering a state of living that pushes her to commit sin. AND THIS, is one of my favourite things about the fic; our narrative is unreliable, we are TOLD that MC is perfect, and that her mother is perfect, and that her father is evil, BUT THE ACTIONS of the characters SHOW US otherwise because slowly, as the fic goes on, it is revealed that MCs father was actually once a very kind person, and it was her mothers cruel personality that turned him into the abusive person he became, and it was his abuse that rendered MC stupid and incompetent - SO, who is to blame for the way MC turned out? Her mother or her father?

The first time there is a crack in MCs "Perfect" façade is in Chapter 8: Horns for a Halo, in this chapter we are introduced to Illuso for the first time, and MC learns that Formaggio is actually in a dire, unsettling situation that put a target on his back. It reminds her of her own family - except this time, she isn't the innocent child with a gun to her head, she's the one putting the gun against his head. She cries to Prosciutto about this because she's finally realising she isn't perfect, and he tells her to just... deal with it.

No one is perfect. The world isn't black and white. One of my favourite quotes from this chapter is:

You looked to him, taking note that he was quite handsome beneath the moonlight.

"Prosciutto, are we bad people?"

... "We are walking a fine line between what is considered moral and immoral. We do not do this willingly, it is our circumstances that push us to be the way we are, yet we still do nothing to try and deter the path we have taken."

BASICALLY, he's trying to get it through her head that NO ONE is good. We all have our dirty laundry; even the oldest, sweetest woman did something shitty once upon her time, and MC needs to stop fussing over doing things that are "Good", here, she realises that she isn't her mothers perfect little girl anymore, she's a grown woman who kills for a living - and, once she has this realisation, her stand suddenly evolves.

Well... it's not sudden, it's a slow evolution that takes like four chapters, BUT, the foreshadowing is INSANE because rereading the fic, you start to realise exactly at which points her mother has started to manipulate her brain. She doesn't like that MC has started to develop her own opinions and personality; she doesn't want her baby to move on, she wants things to stay the way they were, despite the fact that she's dead...

AT THIS POINT, I'm still not sure whether MCs mother was reincarnated as her stand OR somehow found a way to possess her stand, BUT EITHER WAY, it's essentially been confirmed that her mother IS IN THERE and her mother is controlling her.

There are certain interactions in the fic that I don't think MC was in control of!!! When she kicks Prosciutto in CH16, that was her mother. When she tries to get away from Risotto in CH13, that was her mother. I even think the argument she had with Melone in CH8 might have been triggered by her mother, since that was the first instance we saw of her worldview getting shattered!

BUT ANYWAYS, this all leads into the concept of "Fate." I LOVE how you've tied fate into your fic, especially since it's a huge part of P5 and not a lot of x reader fics delve that deep into it.

THE MONOLOUGE that MCs mother had in the most recent chapter was actually very interesting to me:

"It was agonising, watching you make all the wrong decisions. Who to fall in love with, who to befriend, what to do with your life - you were just digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole, so... when I realised I could manipulate the way you were feeling-- I---

When I realised I could push certain thoughts and feeling to the forefront of your mind, that I could influence the things you did, I just-- I had to push you away."

... "I told you earlier: I've always wondered if things could have been different. If maybe, I didn't have to die, if we could have been a happy family. I know now that it would have never happened. 

It's not something we control, nor is it something that controls us - it's a line we walk, from one moment to the next. 

A dreaded little string that connects the middle of our fingers. A contract no one wants to be apart of, like an unhappy marriage signed in April. Some people out there think they are above it. They strive to evade fate; but you can't get away from it. It will always find you. 

Contempt will snake around your neck, and it will bite you twice as hard as you tried to bite it... I'm trying to say, (R/N), nothing you or I have ever done has been of our own accord! There is something out there bigger than us that connects each piece of our story - there is a reason your little boyfriend, Melone, was there the night I died, and there was a reason I was brought back to be your stand." She sighed out gently. "I think that's the issue with us human beings. We spend too much time fussing over our own 'free-will,' chasing our freedom when really we should just be. 

Be in this moment, despite it's flaws, uncertainty and beauty. It's all in the little details; the way the sun splays out across concrete between tree-leaves, or how a silence hangs thick just before a storm, or even how a song can bring us right back to a moment that we thought we had forgotten... fate is... beautiful..."

Your eye was twitching. "B-But-- who am I?" You growled. "I don't care about your fate bullshit! I'm asking you who I am!? You overwrote my entire brain!" 

"You," Your mother started, her gaze now flittering to you. "Are made up from the vivid mind of hundreds. Not a single person sees you in the same way, and that's beautiful, don't you think?" 

You like, casually gave me an existential crisis in the middle of reading an X READER FANFIC. Here, MC's mother is almost admitting to the blame of what happens in the fic, but pushes it away and blames fate. She thinks that what happens had to have happened, that it was bound to happen, and nothing she could have done could have changed it - a part of me wonders if maybe she believes this because it's the easiest way for her to push away the guilt of ruining her daughters life, BUT, I also think this is setting the fic up for something bigger:

As of now, the Sorbet, Gelato, Cioccolata and Secco conflict has been the driving point of the fic, but I think soon this will branch out to Doppio, and maybe even Diavolo, I especially think this since MC has been rescued by Bruno (OR Abbacchio, a lot of people in the ao3 comment section believe it's Abbacchio and I agree! It's deffo one of the two) I have a feeling the stand-eradicating drug that Cioccolata stole and upgraded will play a role in the upcoming chapters, and that you're going to implement it to the canon storyline somehow (Maybe it'll be a counter attack to the Requiem Arrow? MAYBE we'll see Diavolo get hit with the arrow, and they need to use the drug to stop him)

BUT ANWAYS UH this is all I'll say for now... I DO HAVE MORE ON MY MIND because I think the themes of the fic lace into the JJBA characters backstories and personalities REALLY well but I'm sorta realising that I've written a whole ass essay for you... so... erm.... love yew Abby!! <3

a lot of people are gonna joke and say ‘lol abusive MAs must lead to sad food souls what a horrible thing boohoo’ 

but it really is a lot more complex actually because every food soul has their own way of dealing with it and funtoy does avoid repeating stories with this theme 

a lot of food souls have different ways of ‘not forgiving their abusers’ and it’s not just the whole ‘i hate humans and want to wipe out humanity’ lecture, theres a ton of stories with different routes 

B-52, probably one of the most well-known food souls with shitty MAs; he clearly does not forgive his abusers (yes this includes spaghetti) for treating him like a killing machine. He knows that his MA is dead, but doesn’t really feel sorry for him and that doesn’t mean B-52 is cold-hearted. He just doesn’t feel anything for a man who hurt him and that’s okay. As for Spaghetti, B-52 does feel angry and wary over the pasta man. He has no intention of forgiving Spaghetti and will fucking run him over with him motorcycle. But B-52 doesn’t spend his entire life getting angry, instead he learns to move on feel alive with the help of DDS. 

Minestrone is not out in global yet, but his description says ‘extreme’ an it’s LITERAL. He had an MA who gave him away to an organization that forced him to draw out his blood everyday and eventually he had to gouge his own eye out in order to escape. It’s described that he was no longer a genuine food soul at this point. And guess what happened after years of running and hiding? Minestrone shows up on his ‘homeland’ and uses the dark elf flower to kill his own MA in cold hands. You probably think that this is too much, but honestly, this is how some abuse victims feel. Sometimes a need for revenge. Or to end the life of your abuser for various reasons. This is really complex and I’d rather not speak over actual victims who were forced to fight back their abusers. (Please know that I’m trying my best not to word this incorrectly!!) 

Mousse, another new food soul had an MA that lied to him and eventually hung him for an experiment. He tried his best to be the ‘perfect puppet’ for her and still accepted his fate. Why? Didn’t she never own Mousse in the first place? Well, Mousse had felt that ‘his place’ was to be the perfect obedient food soul. He wanted to be a perfect food soul that protected his MA and be loyal and strong. Anyways, after the experiment (where he almost died), Blue Cheese and the musical troupe were able to revive him. But.... Mousse had forgotten his memories and also turned into a baby. At the end of his story, Mousse is shown sleeping as a kid and he’s in a nightmare of his past. He believes that this is a nightmare and will CRY IN HIS SLEEP (BLUE CHEESE WIPES HIS TEARS i CANT). But it’s his memories. It’s grey on how he feels about his abuser. But I really wanted to say that abuse can lead to repressed memories and Mousse is the best example of that. 

Jiuniang is a baby. We all know it. But apparently, in her backstory, she ended up being a trafficked food soul and was abused. Clearly, she has no reason to forgive her abusers. However, she doesn’t have the same a type of extremeness to go after her abusers or gain revenge. Instead, she would rather live a happier life and basically recover from it and enjoy life with Yellow Wine. 

Anyways, I love how the writing has different stories of how food soul deal with their abusers and I feel like that’s why a lot of lore-invested fans love the game. Especially for a lot of abuse victims who relate to food souls with shitty MAs. 

i know that sometimes funtoy is really stupid and makes the worst choices but im pretty glad that in a lot of the backstories theres a general theme of 'you have the ability to not forgive your abusers' and i like that a lot

so I headcanon Percy as having bpd & I wanted to make a post about it, breaking down a piece of his mental state. one day I'll do a complete post about his mental state/how it progresses & how he processes to world as it passes but I have been wanting to make this post for, like, forever now so here we go. starting off, I'm going to clarify that Percy internalizes a lot of these feelings as well. certain behaviors still show up but he doesn't always know how to show people his emotional trigger-finger. percy experiences a lot of this internally & a lot of it externally. he's semi-functional but his emotions can be debilitating when he grants them the control they want to have over his body... also it's worth noting that percy's favorite person is keyleth in almost any circumstance thank you lets Begin

a general feeling of emptiness. so we'll start by talking about this, one of the defining characteristics of bpd. percy has a hard, hard time pinpointing who he is with the level of intensity he operates at. it's very very difficult for him to connect himself to the moment because he gets caught up in so many emotional highs. it's easier for him to go ' I did something in the past ' than ' I am doing something right now 'because he doesn't always recognize himself in the moment & that leaves him feeling very detached from any half-formed sense of self.

high sensitivity. there's this theory about bpd that I really think applies there. percy was a sensitive kid in a non-affirming environment growing up. what does this mean? well, it means he was always going to be someone who picked up on emotion really easily. but where a lot of parents will soothe their children & comfort them, the De Rolo's were not particularly affectionate with their children. Some of the siblings got along better than others but overall there wasn't a lot of affirming parental care.

so his brain never learned how to regulate the level at which he experiences distress. whether this is sadness, anger, or the feeling of being abandoned - he feels it at a much higher level than what may be considered ' normal '.

so when it comes to emotion, his nerves are usually on fire trying to sort through the feelings.it's part of why he keeps them tangled up on the inside. because if he starts to undo any emotional knots he may fall apart entirely. feelings also tend to linger a lot longer than what is ' logical'. in his brain, he can recognize that he shouldn't be angry about something a day, a week, or a month after it happens & still be pissed off about it. it's also worth noting that he's super irritable because his emotions are super raw but we already know this.

fear of abandonment. so we've already touched briefly on his emotional sensitivity. but because he is very receptive to negative emotions, he tends to expect the worst. he expects people to leave him on a whim because where a self-critical thought may pass through a 'normal' brain he adopts it as something that temporarily defines him ( until he moves on to his next definition of self ) & assume that is also all the people around him can see as well.

he also has a lot of guilt from his strong emotional reactions & considers that grounds for abandonment. if he splits on someone or is particularly harsh to them he doesn't forget it. he often feels terrible about it & expects that it is the reason the other person is looking for to leave him. if someone calls him out for something he's done ( even if they are in the right ) he starts to feel empty & abandoned even if he logically knows he's still loved.

aches for companionship while imposing isolation on himself. percy can be very clingy with the people he loves or he can shut them out entirely. it's sort of a cat thing in the 'I'm only gonna be clingy when I want to be clingy ' sort of way if that makes sense?

he walks an emotional tightrope of ' too much or not enough ' because again he cannot regulate his emotions well enough to find a midground between each impulse. he can't decide what the right ratio is for him if he doesn't know who he is. he'll still be seeking approval even when he puts this distance between himself & the people he wants it to come from. it results in a lot of self-hurt feelings because he assumes if he's not getting the attention that he's seeking, someone is upset with him.

emotional tunnel vision. because of the intensity at which he experiences emotion, he sometimes has difficulty empathizing with the people around him. he has very biased empathy in the sense that he's sensitive to rejection & negative emotion but doesn't always understand when approval or positive emotion is being given. again, he expects abandonment so that's what he's looking for. it's also often what he assumes the people around him are looking to do

dissociation. also because of the high-intensity emotions he experiences, he's prone to checking out almost entirely. which plays more into the distance he feels from his already wavering sense of self. this also has to do a little bit with that self-imposed isolation I mentioned earlier.

when he hits an emotional high that is too high/potentially triggering he can & will check out almost entirely. I feel like this is part of why Percy assumes he's stuck in a dream after vox machina pulls him out of that cell. he can't entirely connect with that high of having people who he not only cares about but also care about him. it's too intense of a feeling ( a feeling of happiness, fear, love, danger it's just Too Much until he looks at it in hindsight after being with them for a while. he subscribes to that delusion instead of feeling it in full )

he can & will adopt the goals of the people around him. I've talked about this a lot 1x1 with others but a lot of Percy's love language is reflecting what people need out of him. it's part of why he's so quick to get into a crazy ritual with a bunch of friendly strangers, why he doesn't hesitate to give them all of his money. because that is what they are interested in & doing & he wants to be a part of that whether or not it aligns with goals he's otherwise set for himself.

this is a form of communication not only rooted in love. he sees something that helps someone in front of him survive & adopts it as a potential piece of whatever he defines himself at the moment. I have a headcanon about Ripley taking over Percy's workshop & having him help her in it to weaponize his safe space but it backfired because he just starts picking up pieces of her as a survival tactic. he's sensitive to the feelings she's putting out there & raises them like a shield to protect himself. that will get a post entirely on it's own sometime.

self-destructive behaviors. percy doesn't always take his bodily safety into account when doing things because a) he doesn't care b) the pain sort of regulates some level of emotion for him. it's grounding. it's why he's not very careful in his workshop or a battlefield [ or in scary tombs ] because if he gets hurt it's a means of feeling something.

Unfortunately, this also gets the people he loves in danger because his lack of self-preservation comes from a self-centered view. it's that tunnel vision from earlier coming into play. he'll be working on a project, know something is going to explode & not step away because he is waiting for that fire-to-skin contact. something that doesn't affect him permanently but can give at least a few hours of physical feeling outside of internal feeling.

splitting. I've talked about Percy's irritability & how he is searching for a reason people may want to leave him. I've also talked about how he has very biased empathy when it comes to recognizing negative emotions. when he's triggered in certain ways, he will get scared. then he will get angry.

he can be the happiest guy in one moment but if he perceives abandonment ( whether or not it's there ) he can take it very personally & get pissed off over something that may have even been super small, to begin with. certain trauma-related topics can also trigger him as well ( ex: bring up Ripley & he will get Pissed off & Terrified as he would be with her right in front of him. ex 2: bring up Vex's death & he will revert to that feeling of 'I almost lost her & it's my fault ' in all its intensity )

limited to no sense of the future. we've already talked about him being unable to pin down his sense of self but this also has to do with long-term thoughts. without a sense of self, he doesn't have a solid sense of the future. it's hard to look forward when he's stuck looking back, leaving him at the moment very lost & operating on these emotional highs we've talked about. it's not always a terrible thing. his instinct is sometimes wildly creative & useful. it can also be a massive liability.
