Secret Relationships (2025)
| Korean, BL, Drama | 8/10🌟
1 Season, 8 Episodes, 30 minutes each.
Watch on Gagaoolala (or dailymotion)
🚨WARNING: This drama is about very toxic relationships, there's on screen verbal abuse, sexual assault and self harm. The verbal abuse is throughout the show, the sexual assault and self harm is in episode 6. 🚨
Starring: Kim Jun Seo, Cha Sun Hyung, Kim Ho Young and Cha Jung Woo.
Synopsis: "Da On, a smart and handsome salary man, often clashes with his colleague Seong Hyeon. Their relationship becomes more and more ambiguous as time progresses, while other figures like Jae Min, a former tutor, and company-heir Su Hyeon make their way into his life. What shape will this love square end up turning into?"
My Thoughts:
This was messy as hell from the start and I was immediately hooked.
Like you really think it couldn't get any worse and then you watch the next episode and it, in fact, does get worse. Jae Min and Su Hyeon need to be in prison.
Also every character needs therapy. Like so much of it.
This was stressful and traumatic but I was glued to the screen every week. I loved it.
(What I also love is how many people have become fans of WEi (Jun Seo’s kpop group) since the series started. This show has actually been great exposure for the group, loving all the new RUi’s. They make really good music so if you haven’t checked them out yet please do!)

Episode 3: 3 (+1)
Episode 3 of Secret Relationships dialed up the tension, but the last few minutes before the eplilogue were a tightly edited interplay between all four main characters, pushing up the tension even further, with the two men from Da-On's past and the new one from his present converging on him.
Spoilers ahead.
The evening after Su-Hyeon's sadistic control freakery in the office (it ain't about love), and Da-On's collapse in the hall, our sunshine boy Seong-Hyeon perceptively rescues Da-On from Su-Hyeon outside by inventing a good excuse on the spot and promptly withdrawing to capitalize on the confusion he created. He ends up cajoling Da-On into a movie and then into staying the night to avoid Su-Hyeon. Unbeknownst to them, though, Su-Hyeon has gone into full obsessive, stalking Da-On's building waiting for him all night. And calling repeatedly. So Seong-Hyeon's move was probably the right one in the moment but also amplified the craziness in Su-Hyeon's head.
Suddenly thinking that Da-On is at Jae-Min's, Su-Hyeon drives away and the camera rack focuses on Seong-Hyeon and Da-On walking up not 20 meters away. Crsip bit of "bad stuff could have gone down" and the tension notches up. Cut to Jae-Min's apartment and Su-Hyeon walks in (apparently he can just do that?) and starts searching the place for Da-On. The interplay between them shows that Su-Hyeon seems to think he's in charge, but Jae-Min isn't quite as submissive as the earlier episodes might have led us to believe; he first asks when Su-Hyeon is going to leave Korea again, only to get an ambiguous reply, then reminds Su-Hyeon about their "contract" which seems to take a little of the wind out of Su-Hyeon's sails. After Su-Hyeon leaves, Jae-Min reflects, then calls his mother and learns something we don't hear but in apparent response, he almost immediately stands up and next we see an aerial shot of his car in motion, shifting the tone into sustained high tension.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Seong-Hyeon is walking and says to himself "I chickened out on telling Da-On I like him and dammit I am gonna do it RIGHT NOW" and he turns around and starts running.
Tumblr media
Cut to Su-Hyeong's (black of course) car in motion and now we know there's some kind of collision coming.
Tumblr media
This is amplified by the next cut to Da-On sitting in his apartment, dressed in the same grey colors as his surroundings, clearly stressing over what's on his phone (dozens of missed calls from Su-Hyeon) and presumably wondering what abusive crap is next.
Tumblr media
Jae-Min arrives, sees Su-Hyeon's car and heads inside The elevators are in use by Seong-Hyeon and Su-Hyeon so he starts running up the stairs. A tight series of cuts ensues, deliberately unclear so we don't know who's ahead in what's clearly become a race to get to Da-On, whether to harm or protect or confess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unaware of all this, Da-On continues to think.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the doorbell rings, and we don't know who it is and we're dreading what comes next.

Another Eat-the-Rich Film, "Parasite" is an Exploration of Class at Its Deadliest
The wait is (finally) over! My review of Bong Joon-Ho's materpiece, "Parasite" is now live!
Content Warning: Parasite contains depictions of severe class disparity, violence, grooming, and extreme manipulation. Viewer discretion is advised. Spoilers for Parasite ahead! In January of 2020, the English-centered film industry was put on blast for not giving foreign language films their proper flowers. Director Bong Joon-Ho, already celebrated by Hollywood and audiences alike for previous…

Study Group
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2025
Study Group (2025, South Korea)
Directors: Lee Jang Hun & Yoo Beom Sang
Writers: Um Sun Ho & Oh Bo Hyun (based on the webtoon by Shin Hyung Wook)
Mini-review:
I've been watching this as it aired and it's been the breather I needed every week. Some people might be thrown off by the over the top, cartoonish style of the show, but that's exactly what makes it so unabashedly fun. It's basically like watching a shonen manga come to life (or in this case, an action webtoon). The fight scenes, especially those in the first and last episodes, showcase stunning choreography and effects, the likes you don't usually see in K-dramas. And the cast more than lives up to the demands of the show, in terms of both acting and physicality. It feels like Study Group leaves the door pretty open for more seasons, so if that ends up happening, they can count me right in.

Guys be honest...
Am i the only one who thought everything after episode 9 (barely 10) in dear hyeri was unnecessary filling???
Plot wise this drama was doing good and i really thought they would use DID in a more realistic way but instead they kinda romanticized the whole thing. Like the 2nd personality was such a endearing character and i wanted to see her more...
I had fun watching the show but i just wish they would work on the plot more :(

AAAAHHH SO SHIN AE RA, YOO HO JUNG AND YOON YOO SUN ARE FRIENDS??? omg why do they keep on revealing this so late omgg the combined talent in this friends group is astronomical
Also they're the same age and the same graduating class! That's so cute
Also thr fun fact that Shin Ae Ra played opposite Lee Jae Ryong (Yoo Ho Jung's husband) in What Is Love lmao. And Yoo Ho Jung played opposite Choi Soo Jong in When The Wind blows, and Choi Soo Jong and Shin Ae Ra met in Love Blooming On A Tree and the special drama Forever Newlyweds.
This Radio Star episode was such a chill and fun atmospheere though. Loved the Shin Ae Ra x Yoon Yoo Sun parts!

Secret Relationships; One & Two
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Short Summary • Daon has a crush on someone who helped him a lot when he grew up, a certain Shin Jaemin. Daon tries to tell Jaemin how he feels again until Jaemin tells him that his ex-boyfriend (Suhyeon) is returning to Korea. The Suhyeon who attacked Jaemin when they were dating the first time. Outside of that, Daon has a clingy new co-worker who tries his best to get Daon to open up, but Daon keeps brushing him off. Will this new friend be a comfort to Daon after Jaemin hurts his feelings?
Pairing(s) thus far • Suhyeon x Jaemin (Cha Jungwoo & Kim Hoyoung)
Thoughts • I was trying to make sense of the dynamic between Daon, Suhyeon, and Jaemin from what I had seen in the first two episodes, but it's weird. Daon clearly hates Suhyeon for the way Suhyeon treated Jaemin, but Suhyeon seems to like every interaction he has with Daon? Except when he stays over at Jaemin's place. Jaemin seems to like being around Daon and takes care of him until he "oversteps" and tells Jaemin that he likes him, then Jaemin completely shuts Daon out.
Seonghyun gives off very big golden retriever energy. However, like most pets, he's often ignored when Daon is struggling to figure out what is happening between himself and Jaemin. From what I've seen so far of the manhwa, Seonghyun is different in the series from the manhwa. In the manhwa, Seonghyun thinks that Daon is arrogant and brushes his work off on others. In the series, Daon seems beloved by his co-workers except for Seonghyun due to their initial meeting when Seonghyun accidentally broke the watch Jaemin gave Daon. Also, in the manhwa, Daon was poor, and his father was a drinker -- he didn't seem to bet his money. However, don't hold me to that as I'm only a couple of chapters in, lol.
