Night has come- Episode 5 and 6 (INCLUDES SPOILERS)(WARNING: LOOOOOONNNGGG RANT AHEAD)
AGAIN, this post includes spoilers (All my posts do) so if you haven't seen this episode, I recommend not to read this post.
However, if you want to know just how bad your mind will be mess up, you are welcome to stay.
.
.
.
.
.
.
First of all
I had this very interesting post that I was about to post in which I explained how the girl with the ax in the intro was Lee Yoon Seo, and now I see that it was a good idea not to post it because it would have made me look stupid considering what happened at the end of episode six.
So, that saved me.
EPISODE 5:
A FREAKING ROLLERCOASTER.
It was kind of obvious that Park Woo Ram was Mafia but the way it was delivered? that was unexpected. But let's not jump ahead of the whole kidnapping/dividing thing, because WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT.
I, for once, knew Go Kyung Jun was going to be a pain in the butt but I will not take away the credit for his intelligence.
Like, the way he was right about who was the mafia? That was detective work right there. The way he delivered the confession? I won't lie, torture is a good way to make someone confess to something you had no part of but Woo Ram was mafia.
THE TORTURE:
I am sure Kyung Jun is a citizen. I have no proof but I have zero doubts. But, I do think that he'll be able to kill somebody if it means protecting himself or someone he cares about.
As it was shown in episode 5, he tortured Woo Ram to get a confession out of him, and as an avid reader of mafia romances -and currently writing my own, if I may say- the way he managed the torture was exceptional.
Tumblr don't flag me, but a girl has to admit when torture is on point, and this one was. It wasn't the physical torture that surprised me but the psychological. The way he would smile in a clear way that showed he didn't care about making somebody suffer was the CHERRY IN TOP OF THE ICE.
(And if I may mention, he is very cute.)
However, every bad character has a soft side and as we saw when he locked himself in the canteen, he started crying because he caused someone to die, and he tortured someone and everybody hates him so that ought to hurt.
THE SECRET PATHWAY:
When I tell you my mouth went
I have a feeling
AND THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT FEELING
That the ghost is trying to help Yoon Seo, as a matter of fact, I don't even think Woo Seok is dead but I'll dive into that theory later.
What I mean by the ghost trying to help Yoon Seo, I mean that the ghost seems to be leaving clues for her to find. Why is the ghost doing this? I don't know but I'm sure they are connected somehow.
When Yoon Seo found the secret room, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in how she didn't stay longer to investigate.
Girl reads crime and mystery novels, and she just looked for a bit and left.
If that had been me? I would have looked through the freaking cameras in the room to try and find out who was the mafia (We know who is the mafia, we are expecting the results) but she just left, so that was a bit disappointing.
I feel the ghost is making every clue obvious for her to find because she is not looking properly. You would expect her to be more invested into the whole thing but as of right now the only thing she has found was how the second body didn't had defense marks and the black light used to look at the door.
The door was obvious, it was not as if someone could break a door open like that with the power of hate.
However, everything else has been the ghost doing. Finding the entry to the secret hall? The ghost pushed the boxes.
The picture? The ghost had to put a light on it so she would actually find it interesting.
The exit? Again, the ghost had to say "Girl, it's this way" and I find that hilarious.
The ghost is carrying the show.
THE GAME:
This game is cheating in the most awful way possible. Like, it is legal for someone to not vote! But the game changed the rules and now they either vote or die.
As I approach the ending, I am allowed to touch the rules of the game.
Everybody must vote. As we saw in episode 3, the consequences are catastrophic. Great way to get rid of most of the cast.
The game must take place inside the designated zone. I am not a tech wizard but there must be some kind of sensor that alerts whoever is controlling this game when someone steps out, right?
If two people have the same amount of votes, then the voting has to be repeated and if it happens again, then they all die.
The third one was genius. Like, I can't find any crack in the rules and that is amazing and frustrating.
and finally,
what we were all expecting,
Woo Seok dying:
This was sad, and it probably hurt me more than it hurt Yoon Seo
BUT
I don't think he is dead
Like, sure. His head did the ringing of possession and his eyes went white but I don't think he died.
I think he is alive
I think he is not a mafia
I think he is controlling the game
GOSH, IT FEELS GOOD TO SAY IT.
Why do I think he is not dead?
All the other deaths have been very gruesome
(This is just an example, I won't put all of them)
Even the ones with the pillow and the curtain were gruesome and awful but Woo Seok?
Look at that
His head is not even underwater,
his body is not belly down
he is just there
floating,
like a water lili
He looks like a model.
So I don't think he is dead
Him dying defies the purpose of the whole show
He wants to protect Yoon Seo and dying won't grant him that
Now, if he is actually dead then that was a stupid move from the producers but I'm sure we'll get our plot twist.
KIM SO MI:
We all knew she was mafia.
We all know she wants to survive
But she is a psycho
Like, real psycho
Why all of them thought that leaving the ax out while there is a killer on the loose was a good idea, I don't know, but she has it and she has a victim in mind.
The end of episode six clearly shows her about to slice Yoon Seo open, but the the screen goes dark and she screams
And I don't think it was a scream of "Getting ready to kill you in the most awful way possible" but I think it was a scream of "Something is awful and I am about to die."
I think the ghost showed up, or the doctor/police stopped her
It may be hopeful thinking, but I think she is dead
like, really dead.
Yoon Seo can't die. She is the main character and even though kdrama writers and producers are fond of killing the main characters (we all know what I mean) killing Yoon Seo would be a stupid move.
Yoon Seo remains alive, So Mi? I'm not sure.
Now, this is not a point but just some questions and theories I have.
Why is Oh Jung Won so protective of Yoon Seo? I mean, I would also defend my best friend with my life but the way Jung Won is so protective makes me think there is something else happening here.
Jin Da Beom. He is one of the main characters. Why is he a main character acting like an extra? This is annoying me.
This may be random, and this is me being crazy but I am SO SURE that if Kyung Jun and Yoon Seo joined forces, they would find the mafia.
Besides, the way he only stops when she speaks? I may romanticizing stuff but you don't join kdrama land while being sane.
You are welcome to call me out in something I may have mistaken, and you are welcome to share your theories with me too!
Until next episode.

Branding in Seongsu
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Branding in Seongsu (2024, South Korea)
Director: Jung Hun Soo
Writers: Choi Sun Mi & Jeon Seon Young
Mini-review:
Look, I'm not gonna say this was good, but it kept me engaged throughout. And it's all thanks to the two leads. They basically save the whole thing with their chemistry and their comedic chops. I was particularly impressed by Lomon, who went out of his comfort zone for this role and delivered in every single scene. The show worked better as comedy than anything else, since it was pretty funny at times. But yeah, whenever it tried to highlight serious issues, it ended up falling into the same old stereotypes. And some of the final twists made little to no sense. I don't regret watching Branding in Seongsu, though, cause the episodes were short and it never had time to get boring. But I do wish the writing and directing were as good as the acting, or less messy at the very least.

Follow Me
The rain poured down in sheets, the sound of it drumming against the windows of Jung Hoon's small office. He sat at his desk, a cigarette dangling from his lips as he stared at the case file spread out before him. The disappearance of Ji Woong had been weighing heavily on his mind for weeks now.
Jung Hoon and Ji Woong had been partners in the police force for years, solving cases together with an almost uncanny intuition. But when Ji Woong vanished without a trace, leaving only a cryptic note behind that simply read "follow me," Jung Hoon knew this was no ordinary case.
As he pored over the evidence, Jung Hoon couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to Ji Woong's disappearance than met the eye. He remembered their last conversation, how Ji Woong had seemed distracted and distant, as if he were hiding something.
With a determined set to his jaw, Jung Hoon stood up and grabbed his coat. It was time to follow the trail left by his missing partner, no matter where it led him.
The first clue led Jung Hoon to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. The air inside was thick with dust and decay, but he pressed on, following a faint sound echoing through the empty corridors.
As he turned a corner, Jung Hoon came face to face with Ji Woong himself. But it wasn't the man he knew - there was something different about him, something dark and sinister lurking behind those familiar eyes.
"Ji Woong?" Jung Hoon called out tentatively.
But instead of a response, Ji Woong lunged at him with unexpected speed and ferocity. Caught off guard, Jung Hoon stumbled backwards as they grappled with each other in a desperate struggle for control.
In that moment of chaos and confusion, everything became clear to Jung Hoon. The real Ji Woong had been replaced by an imposter - someone who wore his partner's skin like a mask but harbored evil intentions beneath the surface.
With adrenaline coursing through his veins, Jung Hoon fought back with all his might. As they tumbled through the darkness of the warehouse, each blow struck by both men revealed more about their true identities than words ever could.
In the end, it was Jung Hoon who emerged victorious - bloodied but unbowed. Standing over the fallen imposter who had tried to take everything from him, he felt a mix of relief and sorrow wash over him.
As he looked down at what remained of Ji Woong's doppelganger, now nothing more than a lifeless shell lying at his feet, Jung Hoon realized that some mysteries were better left unsolved - and some secrets better kept buried in darkness forevermore.

Day 50 - 15 Days BL Challenge (part 4)
Day 50 - Favourite female identifying character?
I wanted to include three of my faves here
Tiffy from Lovely Writer
Love Tiffy so much! She's fierce and strong and calls her man baby girl and wears a leather jacket and drives a motor cycle and it also doesn't hurt that she's played by Zorzo. She's just so god damn cool!
Her pairing is also one of my favourite het pairings in BL because they flip the script so hard on gender roles and stereo types.
Mew from 3 Will Be Free
Another bad ass independent woman who doesn't need no man but gains two anyways.
She said female solidarity and I'm with her on that.
Yu Na from Semantic Error
Another character that defies the female stereotypes and is just such a perfect friend character. It's so rare that we see main characters in BL have really good female friends but Yu Na was on of them.
Honestly now that I've gotten started talking about Yu Na, I'm realizing that so many of my favourite Korean QLs have great female characters. Like Yoon Woon and Ae Ri from The Eighth Sense, Jung One from She Makes My Heart Flutter and Ji Yeon from The New Employee.
The original challenge is here, part two here, part three here, and four here.

Half Orphans with loving remaining parent: Eun Dan-oh (Extraordinary You) Koo Chan-sung (Hotel del Luna) Ye So-ran (The Forbidden Marriage) Nam Ha-neul (Doctor Slump) Yu Ji-hyck (Marry My Husband) Kang Hee-soo (Captivating the King) Choi Yi-jae (Death's Game) Im Sol (Lovely Runner) Ryu Sun-jae (Lovely Runner) Lee Chang (Kingdom) Lee Geum, Prince Yeoning (Haechi) Gu San-yeong (Revenant) Son Hae-yeong (No Gain No Love)
Half Orphan + Remaining Parent is THE WORST: Jang Uk (Alchemy of Souls) Kim Do-ha (My Lovely Liar) Lee Yul (100 Days My Price) Ahn Min-hyuk (Strong Woman Bong-Soon) Seo Mok-ha (Castaway Diva) Gong Tae-seong (Sh**ting Stars) Kang Tae-ha (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, past version) Yi In (Captivating the King) Kang Ji-won (Marry My Husband) Kang Sun-woo (Oh My Ghost)
Parents (at least one) are THE WORST but Both Are Still Alive: Jang Shin-yu (Destined With You) Han Yi-joo (Perfect Marriage Revenge) Ko Mun-young** (It's Okay to Not be Okay) Mok Sol-hee (My Lovely Liar) Gu Won (King the Land) Crown Prince Lee Hwi/Dam-yi/Yeon-seon (The King's Affection) Do Bong-soon (Strong Woman Bong-Soon) Woo Young-woo (Extraordinary Attorney Woo)*** Jung Ji-woon (The King's Affection) Kang Bo-geol/Lee Ki-ho (Castaway Diva) Yeo Jeong-woo (Doctor Slump) Hong Hae-in (Queen of Tears) On Eun-yoo (Twinkling Watermelon) Oh Yeon-joo (W: Two Worlds) Yoon Ji-ho (Because This Is My First Life) Nam Se-hee (Because This Is My First Life) Bok Gwi-ju (The Atypical Family) Moon Cha-min (Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale)
Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness
#kdramas#so many orphans#you would think that Korean children never have parents who make it to 60#if they manage to be alive they are the worst

Fandom Year in Review (2023)
It's the very last day of 2023, which means it's time for my annual look back and some number-crunching with my AO3 stats and writing over the year!
(Before I get to setting next year's goals and back to writing before midnight, of course! ;))
I posted 142 new stories to AO3 this year!
Fewer than last year but still quite a respectable number (especially given I dropped off posting every single day after October this year - I kept it up for 1,675 days straight, or 55 complete months!).
Those stories were in 33 fandoms, 14 of them new, and featured 43 ships (not counting gen relationships), 18 of them new!
I posted a total of 319,688 words to AO3 this year!
By way of events, I participated in:
the Three Sentence Ficathon
my own Valentine's Spectacular
@domaystic
Small Fandoms Fest
@kakashiweek
@whumptober (completionist again!)

~
I started 3 new minific collections, those being:
Dog-sensei & Sparklepuppy (Naruto; Kakashi & Sakura)
Tales from the Fishbowl (Kingyou-hime)
Sailing in Stars and Shadow (Captain Harlock)
All three of which are mainly to corral my 3SFs for those various themes/ships.
I posted 190 minifics in total!

. . .and there's my look back on 2023! I explored new things and fell (unexpectedly deeply, perhaps) into some beloved old ones, tried to curtail my impulses on driving too hard on events while still participating and having fun. . .
Of course as always I have many things in the works (a moon-cycle-related project for all of 2024, my upcoming 7th year of doing my Valentine's Spectacular, a dark and twisty longfic. . .) and I'll be back soon! Maybe even with a new story tomorrow? We'll see!
Regardless, I'll always be around on AO3 and I'm sure not going anywhere!
Happy New Year!

HAPPINESS // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb: 7,9 Benim Puanım: 8
Drama: Happiness
Hangul: 해피니스
Director: Ahn Gil-Ho
Writer: Han Sang-Woon
Date: 2021
Genre: Thriller
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Han Hyo-Joo, Park Hyung-Sik, Jo Woo-Jin, Song Ji-Woo, Lee Joon-Hyuk
In the Soop: Friendcation izledikten sonra Park Hyung-Sik’i ne kadar özlediğimi fark ettim. Kendisini W : Two part apart dizisinden tanıyoruz.
Apartmandaki tuhaf karakterleri göstermeye başladığı dakikada aklıma ilk gelen Stephen King’in The Mist filmi ve aynı isimli dizisi oldu. Akabinde yine apartmanda geçmesinden ötürü Sweet Home dizisini çağrıştırdı. Tam beni ufaktan afakanlar basıyordu ki, King’in o insan psikolojisi ile döven tavrı olmadığını fark ettim. The Mist’in dizisini sonuna kadar izleyememiştim.
