26th June - 514 words. Worked On: the Supernatural Beings AU Favourite Line: this will do
Michael, Mikey to his friends - Lux included when she wasn’t being difficult or flippant, raised both eyebrows before running his hands over his hair.
It was the boything's birthday today. He had to work, but then again, he doesn't mind that too much. It's just been too darn warm. It hit 28 degrees (c) for a bit today. Ugh.
It's supposed to start cooling down now, but it's like, 2am and it's 17 degrees. THAT'S A DAYTIME TEMPERATURE.

Log Cabin Day
Log Cabin Day is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of June and takes place on June 30 this year. A log cabin is a small log building with a few rooms and no electricity. It was home to Americans in a time of little sophistication and technology. Today, the mention of a cabin house prompts an image of a nice, quiet vacation away from the world of cars, traffic, and computers. Log cabins have a long history in America and today, we celebrate them.
History of Log Cabin Day
Log cabins date as far back as Medieval times in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, where tall, straight trees were readily obtainable. A Medieval log cabin was called a chattel house and considered movable property. Villagers who were relocating dismantled their homes by taking them apart, log by log, and transporting them to a new location for reassembling.
Historians suggest that the first log cabins built on American soil were in a Swedish colony around 1640. As time passed, the American people continued to build homes with logs. These houses were solid and long-lasting, sheltering the occupants from the cold and harsh weather.
In the 19th century, the log cabin became a political symbol in America, indicating humble beginnings and something that resonated with ordinary people. About seven United States presidents were born in log cabins, including the famous Abraham Lincoln. The idea of making the log cabin a political symbol was used first in 1840 by a presidential candidate called William Henry Harrison, despite the fact Harrison was not born in such a house. It became a trend as other political candidates recognized its promotional value and continued to use the concept as a symbol for their campaigns.
Log Cabin Day was founded by the Log Cabin Society and the Bad Axe Historical Society in Michigan in 1986. The day was formalized to promote the preservation of log cabins and promote awareness and education about life during the era in America when log cabins were commonplace. Each year people go out to help preserve historical log cabins for the future and hold on to the artifacts and memories that make them so important. Their connection to nature contributes to their enduring popularity.
Log Cabin Day timeline

19th Century It Becomes a Symbol
Politicians begin to use the log cabin as a political symbol indicating humble origins.
1986 Log Cabin Day Begins
A Michigan legislature resolution declares June 28 as a holiday, and the Log Cabin Society and Bad Axe Historical Society introduce Log Cabin Day.

June 2024
(Series: Lycoris Recoil | Illustrator: Imigimuru)
I did finish Laid-back Camp season 3 and Kaiju No. 8 and neither shows are new favourites, sadly. LBC was still a nice time, but definitely not as good as season 2 and the movie, and I'm not sure if I'd say it's as good season 1 either. Still worth the watch but definitely not the best thing the franchise has to offer. As for Kaiju No. 8, it had a promising start, but I found that the series needed more breather episodes. After the first few episodes, it feels like we're moving from big fight to big fight, without enough time to get attached to the characters, and without that connection, it became hard to care about the fights. By episode 11, I realised I didn't even care about Kafka anymore. Still a lot of cool ideas though, and I'd definitely check out the manga.
I also have started Whisper Me a Love Song, but due to delays, it hasn't finished yet. It's an unfortunately underwhelming adaptation, and the best thing I can say about it is that it made me reread the manga, which has been such a joyful experience. The anime has a lot of janky shots and cuts and the show was almost unwatchable by ep 8, but at least the vocal performances make up for it. There were times that I just left it playing while I did something else in another tab and just listened to the voices, which was honestly preferable to looking at the show sometimes. I particularly like Yuna Nemoto as Shiho. Definitely a VA I'll be looking out for in the future. It's sad because I was really rooting for the anime, based off the initial announcements and visuals, and I really wish it was better. As it is, I really couldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't into seiyuu and hasn't already read the manga.
Finally, I've just started Go! Go! Loser Ranger! and am enjoying it a lot. I really like sentai shows and I'm enjoying how this one is playing with the genre. There's so many intriguing ideas to follow, and the characters are interesting. It also has probably my favourite OP/ED combo of the year so far. They're both just so good.
I did watch Delicious in Dungeon and Brave Bang Bravern this month and loved both shows a lot. They are definitely new favourites for me. 2024 may have had a lot of shows that have looked like complete ass (I could not finish Cherry Magic because the visuals were so bad that I was convinced I would be better off picking up the manga), but it's also had some real gems so far. What with Danmeshi, Bravern, and the second halves of Frieren and the Apothecary Diaries, and I know there are others that I haven't touched yet. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the year goes as to whether this ends up being one of the best years in anime or one of the worst.
