One Piece — "I'm going up to take out Kaido!!"

From Volume 98 - Chapter 989 / Season 14 Episode 1000. Kaido is up on the rooftop battling the Akazaya Nine. Jack is on his side, but so are many Minks. Inside the building, Queen, King, the Numbers, the Flying Six, and hundreds more surround the Straw Hat Pirates. As they all huddle up, not a single one is overcome with fear. The only people who don't want to fight are the ones that are ready to fight Kaido themselves.

I have been quite ill of late and I can't remember what I have shared about what I've been up to creatively.

My trusty Janome MOD30 (great machine, would still highly recommend!) started having some intermittent issues with recognizing that it had a foot pedal controller last year, which became less and less intermittent over time. Around Thanksgiving it fully stopped speaking to the foot controller and went into the shop and they were able to get it going again. But then it happened again. The shop tried again (and did not charge me), but felt that if their attempt to repair it failed again it may not be a fixable issue.

So I rallied my finances and did some research and ordered my new machine. I ordered the Juki HZL F300. The primary features I was looking for in a machine were a good range of stitches (I am not someone who can only have a straight stitch machine), speed control on the machine as well as the pedal, good buttonholes, foot pressure controls, and larger throat space.

It ended up having some delays getting to me so I was without a working machine for the better part of a month. The customer service at the shop was great during this time, and it wasn't their fault at all. I suspect having the machine be in transit from manufacturer to warehouse when I ordered in the midst of the initial 2025 tariffs confusion is mostly at fault.

I was at the height of my illness when the machine came in but still managed to put it through its paces and I have to say it is incredible. Its very solid and stable, with nearly 2" more throat space than my previous machine and a nice wide bed. It is quiet and moves smoothly. Literally my only quibble so far has been the placement of the imperial measurement markings being far back on the bed and hard for my middle ages eyes to see.

I will eventually get some more of the feet and attachments but I am so happy with my new machine. I have forced my spouse and his very much not interested in sewing friends to stare at it while I explain how good it is.

So uh

A Juki DNU-1541 can punch through two layers of 4088 Type 26 Webbing, I've just learned.

This is over a quarter inch thick and the webbing itself has a load rating of 15,000 lbs 💀

I'm just a little bit scared now lol

I'm also sure @bureau-of-mines is going to force me to make some unholy harnesses out of it now if he wasn't already before 🐕‍🦺🪡🐐

Band naming schemes are cool ‘cause I remember back when I watched anime like Noragami pre-2018, its first opening is 午夜の待ち合わせ (Goya no Machiawase, “Midnight Rendezvous”) by Hello Sleepwalkers. I thought that “Hello Sleepwalkers” is a cool band name, so around that time I named my fictional band “Black Paper Shards” I think. Some sort of edgy rock band haha

Looking at it now, if you’ve got a trio band consisting of a lead guitarist/vocalist, a drummer, and a rhythm guitarist/bassist, and they intend to preform live… Then it’s more convenient in one song for the guitarist to switch between lead and rhythm on the same guitar, and bassist stick with the bass huh…

Now knowing the upcoming anime project (and virtual band I guess) GIRLS BAND CRY (some pages have saturated background colours) the fictional band in that anime, トゲナシトゲアリ (TOGENASHI TOGEARI) consists of five members which would be more convenient… Vocalist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboardist

🤔Has there been band stories where the vocalist is a singing voice synthesizer software…? (e.g. concept like software & voicebank but not necessarily VOCALOID in particular) Like, basically same idea as VOCALOID concerts but with a set band and set singer(s)? Oh, but then there needs to be a software engineer/tuner…

It’d be nice if BPS gets another guitarist. I think I had a concept of a guitarist that’s basically the personification of a guitar I’ve got? In my mind’s eye, they look something like IA (the Vocaloid) but with orange accents instead of pink, with a long braid at the back I guess?

My husqvarna is a baby and needs to be babied, and does a lot of beautiful things.

My juki will sew velcro to six layer of vinyl (plus 2 layers batting) without thinking. And it has its own thread tree for my 5000 meter spools.

She fast. She so fast.

I love her.

She will sew my fingers to my fabric if I look away for half a second.

to be honest I think working on a sewing machine strains my eyes as much as being on a computer does. However, I am incentivized to remain alert and focused by keeping my fingers within stabbing distance of a needle making 60 stitches per minutes.
