You and Haknyeon were on a week's vacation, you both needed a quick break from your busy lives, and before he would go on tour, so you both decided that it would be best to take a quick break, only telling the company and your closest friends and family. It was late in the afternoon and the sun was starting to set, the giant glass windows and the door were facing the ocean, and you could see the sun flowing on the waters as it also slowly started to enter the room and move onto the bed, which illuminated Haknyeon’s already beautiful skin.
You were both laying on the gigantic bed in the room, his arm underneath you and his hand on your arm and his finger drawing circles on your skin, you were snuggled against him as you watched the sun moving lower and the colours of the sky changing. You hadn’t felt this relaxed in years, and you could feel your stress and tension slowly leaving your body. Haknyeon turns his head to you and moves his hand to your chin and lifts your face to have you look at him. His brown eyes melted you with how the sun highlighted them, and they practically looked golden.
Your lips touch softly and quickly, the kiss was brief, but he pulls you back for another one, you could feel the quick short kisses growing needier and more hungry. As he was pulling you in for another kiss, you press your hand on his chest, stopping him and making him look at you confused.
“Hak… you know I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days,” You say. You watch the confusion vanish from his eyes, and he pulls you closer once more, your lips barely touched when he paused.
“I am well aware,” He mutters before kissing you deeply, and softly. His hand moves from underneath your chin to your jaw to cup it and hold you in place, the kiss becomes longer, and you could feel his lips moving slowly with yours. You part your lips once you felt his tongue slide over them and allow him access to your mouth. The air surrounding you slowly shift to a more heavier and hotter feeling, his hand on your jaw slowly moves lower before you felt him cup your boob through the shirt you wore, which was his shirt you had pulled on earlier.
His hand slowly rubs over your breast, and your nipple slowly begins to harden as the fabric rubs against the bud, and he could feel it. His tongue explored your mouth, every inch of it before he finally settled his tongue against yours, only for you to push it back into his mouth with your own as you push your tongue into his mouth. Your breathing was becoming louder as the air was slowly running out for you bot. You move your hand on his chest to cup his cheek, not just yet wanting to pull away from this kiss. His thumb rubs your nipple, feeling the hardened bud through the shirt and continues to rub over it, with each rub you could feel a twist inside you as the sensation goes right to your core.
You both pull back, gasping for air as your lungs burned for air, you lean your forehead against his, your noses brushing against each other, eyes closed as you both took a moment. Your lips felt swollen, and your chin felt wet as strings of saliva had broken off when you had pulled back. His thumb continues to rub over your nipple, and you could feel yourself growing wet at the touch.
“Was that slow enough and long enough for you?” He whispers. You open your eyes and saw him already looking at you. “Because we can go slower, longer…” You slide your hand away from his cheek and move it down to the hem of his shirt before slipping your hand underneath the fabric and slowly rubbing your hand up and down his toned torso.
“It was… but we can go slower and longer,” You whisper. His hand moves away from your boob, and you feel it travel down your side and over your exposed thigh before he grabbed the back of it and pulled your leg over his. You immediately straddle his thighs and push his shirt upwards. He sits upright and lets you remove his shirt completely before he leans back. The sun was illuminating you as well, and he swore you were an angel on top of him with how you glowed in the sunset colours.
“Should we?” He asks. His hand slides up and down your thigh, rubbing your leg and feeling your warm skin underneath his touch. You lean over and press a kiss to the middle of his chest before looking up at him.
“In a moment, first, let me do this,” You say. His other hand rests on your knee as he watches you press another kiss to his chest before you begin to leave a trail of kisses down to his stomach. You kept your gaze on his face as you move lower and lower, you reach his belly button and slowly kiss a trail down until you reached his boxers. Watching you kiss him like that caused his cock to twitch in his underwear. He slides his hands higher on your thighs before his hands gripped below your ass cheeks and flipped you onto the bed and settled between your legs, your knees staying bent and your feet pushed into the mattress.
“My turn now,” He says. You could see a shift in his tone and that his eyes had darkened, even in the sunlight that was now starting to fade away as the sun disappeared behind the ocean. His hands flatten against your hip, and he slowly slides his hands upwards while pushing your shirt upwards and exposing your stomach to him. He leans down and presses his lips to your tummy and kisses upwards the more he exposes you to him.
“It feels so good when you do that,” You mumble and sit uprights while grabbing onto the hem of your shirt and lifting it over your head, he pushes his face against the middle of your chest, making you lay back while his hands cup the side of your breasts and move his thumbs over your nipples.
“Hmm, feels good when somebody is kissing you like that,” He says. His face was between your breasts, and he was looking up at you with his chin resting against your skin, he squishes your boobs together against his cheeks and smiles at you. “And it’s always nice when I can do this with your boobs,” You feel his thumbs circling over your nipples, you could feel your body getting warmer as the time slowly ticks by.
“You look cute with them smushed against your cheeks,” You say and move one of your hands to the top of his head to comb your fingers through his hair. He turns his head, and you feel him kiss the swell of your breast, you could feel his hair tickling your nipple as he turned his head, and you take in a deep breath. “Goshhh,” You sigh out and feel him move his head before his lips were against your nipple, kissing the hardened nipple.
“Maybe we can do that long and slow kiss a little later,” He says. Thankfully you had turned the lights on before you had laid down, and they were now illuminating the room as the sun had now completely set and darkness had taken over the sky.
“Hmm, I agree, a little later would be better,” You say. Your lids flutter as you feel his lips wrap around your nipple, and suck on it, while using the tip of his tongue to rub over the bud. His thumb presses against the underside of your boob, and you feel him breathing hard against your breast. You reach down with your other hand and slip it between your bodies, turning it upwards and cupping him through his underwear.
“Hmm,” He hums against your nipple as he feels your hand pressing against his hardening cock. His lids flutter as he feels your hand slowly palm along his length, making sure to take your time until you reached the end before your hand moves back along it, only stopping when the fabric stopped your hand from reaching any further. You could feel your nipple becoming sensitive as he sucks on it and plays with it, the sensation that was going through you was going straight towards a ball of pleasure that was beginning to form inside you.
“Hak…” You sigh. He pulls away from your nipple and his thumb immediately presses against it, slowly spreading his saliva over the bud and over your boob, he releases your boob as he moves his head towards it and reaches between your bodies, his hand brushing against your arm before you felt his fingers cupping your pussy through your panties and begin to rub his fingers along your folds, the touch sparking something inside you, and you could feel yourself growing wetter.
“You’re just… everything,” He whispers. “You’re everything I could have asked for and more,” You could feel your heart growing at his words, and your love growing a little deeper. “Moments like this… like these, they’re everything to me,” His hot breath was blowing against your nipple as he spoke. Haknyeon was usually a joker, but you knew behind that exterior was a man that loved so deeply and loved so hard.
“They mean the world to me too,” You whisper. You could feel tears starting to form in your eyes from his words, you loved him so much, you were so deeply in love with him, even through the hardest moments, you loved him deeply. You feel him gently kiss your nipple before his lips were around the bud, gently sucking on it while his fingers were starting to press a little harder against your folds. “You mean the world to me,” You slide your hand away from his cock and move it to the elastic of his underwear and dip your hand into his underwear, your fingers slowly move over his pubic bone, and you slide your hand closer to his cock.
“Hmm, hmm,” He hums around your nipple, feeling your fingers and hand get closer to his cock. He presses his fingers harder against your panties and pushes the fabric between your folds, causing your legs to jolt as you felt the sudden contact against your clit. You press your knees against his body as he begins to rub slow circles over your clit, the fabric adding to the stimulation.
“Haaakkk,” You whine out. You could feel your back starting to stick to the bedding as sweat begins to build up on your skin. Your fingers reach his cock, and you lightly trace them along his length and hear him take in a stuttering breath. “Ohh…” Your touch on his cock was feather-light, and he could feel himself wanting to shiver from it. He pulls back from your nipple, strings of saliva breaking off as he does and coats his chin.
“You’re taking your sweet time to fully touch it, aren’t you?” He mutters and moves his head higher. “As good as it feels… please, take it properly,” It sounded like his voice was strained as he spoke. “Fuck, please, I need you to,” Just hearing the pleading in his tone was adding to the pleasure building inside you, and you could feel yourself just getting wetter, and you were sure he could as well.
“Well… it’s called building up to the main event, isn’t it?” You ask before you wrap your fingers around his girth and watch his lids shut for a moment, you watch them twitch as his eyes move behind them. “But if you really want me to touch you like this, I’ll gladly do so,” You slide your hand to the head of his cock and swipe your thumb over the tip, feeling the pre-cum that’s built there and feeling a wet patch on the back of your thumb on his underwear. His fingers move a little faster against your clit, and you could feel a tingling sensation starting to form in your toes before slowly creeping up your legs.
“Fuck,” He breathes out and opens his eyes to stare up at you. He moves his head higher and his lips make contact with your chest, and you watch him begin to suck on the spot, his tongue swiping over the skin as he was creating a mark. His fingers slide along your pussy, pushing your panties more between your folds and causing them to rub against your clit as his fingers were making their way to your slit. He could feel how wet you were, your panties must be ruined with your juices.
“Hak, hmm,” You moan. His fingers press against your slit, and you feel the fabric rubbing against that spot, it already felt sensitive, and he hadn’t even had his fingers inside you or his cock. He tugs your panties away from your entrance, making sure that some of the fabric was still against your clit, before he slipped two digits into it. “Oh, O-ohh,” Your eyes close at the light stretch from his fingers, and your panties rub against your clit as he pushes his fingers deeper into you. “H-Hak…” You grab onto his hair with your other hand, letting him know how good it felt. “Hmm…” His fingers curl inside you, and you feel the tingling sensation reach your core and add to that ball of pleasure inside you.
“Hmm, you’re so wet…” He mutters as he pulls back from your chest. His lips travel higher, and you feel them against your collarbone as he begins to leave soft kisses behind. “Are you gonna cum for me?” He pulls his fingers from you halfway before pushing them back into you at a slow agonising pace, at the time your thumb was slowly rolling over the tip of his cock, rubbing over the slit and spreading his pre-cum over the tip.
“Hak, hmm… yes,” You whisper. Your entire body felt hot, and you could feel the pleasure only growing inside you, the tension pulling inside you, close to snapping and giving you that euphoric feeling you were both chasing after. “Fuck…” You feel his fingers curl inside you before they extend and pull out of you halfway, with each slow pump into you, you could feel your panties rubbing your clit and your mind was slowly slipping into a pool of pleasure.
“Then cum for me,” He whispers and presses the palm of his hand against your flit, causing the fabric to press harder against your clit, his fingers curl deep inside you, and you feel your back arch. Your eyes roll to the back of your head behind your lids, and the tension inside you snaps.
“HAAAKK!” You cry out. The euphoric feeling takes control of your body, your toes curl into the sheets and your legs shake with pleasure, and for a moment it felt like your body was floating through the skies with how light your body suddenly felt as your release hits you. “O-OHH,” You turn your head to the side and pull at his hair, feeling all types of emotions going through you. You pull your hand away from his cock, sliding it out from his underwear, and you grab onto his hips, pressing your fingers hard into his skin as you hold onto him. “Hmm, hmm, fuck, I…  Hmm,” You whimper and whine out.
“Look at you, looking so blissful and like you’re glowing,” He mutters against your collarbone. “Sounding so pretty also,” Your walls clench around his fingers at his words, and you feel your muscles tighten for a moment before they relax. “Just so beautiful, just like a goddess,” He feels your body slowly relaxing underneath him and pulls his fingers from you, his hand on your boob moves away, and he presses it into the mattress before sitting back on his knees, your hands fall away from his hair and his hip and land on the bed. His eyes slowly move over your body, drinking up every little detail he could spot. “Get on your hands and knees, right now,” His tone was low as he told you, no, ordered you, which only caused your pussy to clench. You open your eyes to stare up at him, your chest heaving up and down as you breathed in rapidly.
“Haaakk…” You whine out, but slowly sit upright before turning around, making sure not to accidentally hit him as you do. You feel his fingers curl into the elastic of your panties and pull them down, letting his knuckles brush over your ass as he does. You lift your knees just enough to let him slip the panties over them, before you lower back down and let him pull the fabric from your feet.
“This is so ruined, baby,” He says. You turn your head just in time for him to show you how soaked your panties were. “It may need a few washes,” You squeeze your eyes shut and turn your head away before hearing the fabric being tossed aside. He places his hand in the middle of your back before slowly sliding his hand along your spine and over the curve of your ass before it disappears.
“Hak… gosh, I…” You whimper out, your mind was still buzzing from the orgasm you had. You feel the bed move and hear the sound of fabric moving. You turn your head and watch as he tosses his underwear aside before he gently placed a hand on your hip. “I need you…” Your back arches as you feel his cock slide through your folds, sliding all the way towards your clit before sliding back. “Hak, Oh…” Your fingers twist into the bedding as you wait in anticipation for him to put his cock into you.
“Let me just take a moment to admire you…” He says. You feel his hand on your hip, gently squeeze down. “Gosh, you… you’re just my everything,” You bite your lips as you feel yourself becoming emotional. “Fuck…” Your jaw slacks as you feel him push the tip into you, stretching your walls slowly as he does, he releases himself and places his hand on your hip and slowly guides you back, and over his cock. “O-oh, fu-fuck…”
“Hmm, f-fuck, H-Hak…” You moan out. The feeling of his cock slowly stretching you out and filling you was making your mind spin and causing your walls to pulse around him. “Hmm, mmh,” Your back stays arched from the pleasure coursing through your veins. It felt like your arms wanted to collapse beneath you at how good it felt.
“Uhh, hmm,” He groans, feeling your walls squeeze around him, and engulfing him with warmth. The sound of your juices squelch and fills the room, his grips on your hips tighten as he stops once he was fully inside you, taking a moment to gather his breath and give you a moment to adjust. “Fuck, you feel so good…” You feel him slowly guide your hips forward, his cock sliding out of you halfway before your hips were pulled back against him. “Fuck…” The sensation felt electric as it went through your body, the way his cock was brushing against your walls as he guides you over his cock.
“Uhmm, Yeon, oh, my…” You moan, your mind spins and you felt absolutely euphoric. The way he held onto you and guided you over him, the way you felt the warmth of him near you, just him in general was enhancing the blissful feeling coursing through you. “O-ohh,” You tilt your head back, and you feel one of his hands slide along your spine before you felt his hand on the back of your neck.
“Need you closer,” He groans. You feel his grip tighten before you felt his other hand wrap around your middle, and you were pulled upright and held against him. His hand on the back of your neck quickly disappears and cups your boob moments later. “Fuck, that’s it, like this,” His arm around your middle held firmly onto you as he rolls his hips into you.
“Fuck, Haknyeon… right there, like that, fuck,” You moan as you feel his cock getting closer to touching your sweet spot. His hips rut into yours, and you feel your breath getting caught in your throat as he does hit the spot. “HAK!” Your eyes roll to the back of your head behind your lids, and you felt like your body was set alight. “FUCK, THERE!”
“Right there?” He mutters lowly into your ear, his breathing was loud right next to your ear, and you could feel goosebumps forming on your skin. “Hmm, is that the spot?” His cock brushes against it again, and he feels your walls clench around him. “Hmm, it is.”
“FUCK, YES, FUCK, YES!” You scream out. You reach up to hold onto his arm that was around your middle and dig your fingers into his skin. “HAK!” You could feel the sweat building up between your bodies, the sounds that were being created sounded so sinful and filthy.
“Fuck, you feel so good, you’re taking me so good, fuck,” He groans into your ear. With how low his tone was, it instantly caused your walls to clench around his cock. “Just like that, fuck,” His hips were starting to move a little faster, his arm around your middle moved down, and you feel his fingers sliding over your mound before you felt his fingers make contact with your clit.
“HAKNYEON!” You cry out. Your toes curl and your grip on his arm tightens, your mind was spinning as the tension inside you comes undone, your back arches, and you push your ass more against him. “FUCK!” Stars fly past your visions behind your lids. He could feel your walls rapidly pulsing and knew you were going through your high.
“That’s it, like that,” He mutters. His lips brush against your earlobe, and he feels your walls clamp down around him, his hips involuntary begin to move faster. “Fuck, I wanna join you, baby…” He could feel just how close he was as his muscles were tightening and twitching. “I’m gonna… fuck,” He closes his eyes, the sound of your juices were loud in his ear and he couldn’t help but move faster and faster, his hips stuttering as he does. “Fuuuckkkk,” Your body shakes in his hold, your mind completely blank of everything as it felt like your body was floating with euphoria.
“Ha-Haknyeon…” You whimper out. His hips harshly push against yours, and you feel his lips press down hard against your shoulder, his grip on your boob tightens for a moment, and you felt his hand on your mound squeeze it for a moment. “Fuck… fill me, like that,” Hot ropes of cum spill into you as his hips stutter against yours as he tries to get himself through his high. Your walls pulse around his cock, helping him get through his high while his finger was desperately trying to continue rubbing your clit, but his mind was spinning, and he could barely focus on anything other than the pleasure that was going through him.
You lean your head back against his shoulder, taking in deep breaths as you slowly descend from the high your body was going through, your mind continues to spin as you open your eyes to look at the ceiling above. Your body felt tingly as you took a moment to let the feelings flow through you. Haknyeon’s forehead lays against your shoulder, and you could feel and hear him breathing hard as he took a moment to gather his thoughts, his hips stop against yours, and he holds onto you as he catches his breath. His grip on your breast loosens, and you feel his finger move away from your clit before he gently and carefully lowers you down onto the bed, his cock slipping from you as he does.
“Hmm,” You whimper. You immediately turn on your back once you touched the bed and look up at him. Sweat rolls down his chest and stomach, his hair was sticking to his forehead and neck, and the sight caused you to bite your lip and squeeze your legs together, which quickly reminded you of the mess between your folds. “Hak…” His eyes were warm and light as he looks at you. “Shall I go run the tub for us?” He gives you a warm smile before placing his hand on your thigh and giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“I’ll go… I was just taking a moment to admire all that you are,” He says. You could feel your cheeks heating up at his words and watch him get off the bed. “Are you okay, though?” You nod your head, giving him a warm smile. “Good… because we still have that long and slow kiss to do.”
“Shall we do it while in the tub?” You ask. He nods his head and makes his way towards the bathroom. “Perfect… I can’t wait to taste your lips on mine again.”

Desi Wedding- Haknyeon
Inspired by and for. @sugarcherriess asterisked bullets are directly inspired from our dms <3
Haknyeon at a Desi wedding:
When he enters the venue, his eyes are wide and shining, in awe of all the decorations and the shandash (grand) wedding
When your dupatta (shawl) falls off your shoulder, he fixes it immediately, a small smile on his face as he brushes your bare skin
Everyone comments on the matching outfits you guys are wearing, you wearing a jaw-dropping lehenga that matches his kurta. His kurta is rolled up, just enough so you can see his forearms and something about the outfit has him exuding confidence.*
He’s constantly playing with your fingers, admiring the mehendi (henna), and pointing out how his initials would fit great in certain spots
As any desi wedding has, there are flower petals littering absolutely anything and it’s his favorite thing to pick them up and smell them, even tucking the most fragrant ones in your hair*
Asking you to feed him. Mithai (sweets), and the actual food itself. His eyes have that familiar glint in it like he knows he can feed himself but he likes the feeling he gets when you smile sweetly at him and place food into his mouth*
He would gladly do a dance routine with you, going all out and making it very clear that your duo had the best choreography
Humming along to all the songs that he’s heard you play before
Making everyone laugh–the aunties, the moms, the children, the fathers, the grandparents, EVERYONE.
Pictures. So many pictures. He’s taking them of you, you’re taking them of him, guests are taking them of the two of you together.
Whispering in your ear claiming how he could see all of this for the two of you and what he would do when it’s your turn to get married to him
And he cries. He claims it’s allergies but in his head, he’s thinking about how lucky he is to experience new culture with someone he loves so deeply.
And he’s already planning how to propose so he can have a wedding of his own.

i.
You always considered yourself fortunate to have Eric Sohn in your life. From the moment the two of you were born, you were pretty much inseparable. He had been there for you through everything that had ever happened to you in life, and you were there for him the same way.
From the first day of kindergarten to the awkward puberty phase of middle school up until now, where you were about to graduate high school and were finalizing what colleges you wanted to attend in the fall. You were always so grateful for him, especially in the times you needed him.
Especially now as you shakily dialed his number, holding your phone up to your ear and covering your mouth in an attempt to stifle the sob that threatened to slip past your lips. However, the moment you heard his voice sleepily mutter a quiet “what’s up?” guilt weighed down your entire body.
“Did i wake you?” you asked, trying your absolute hardest to keep your voice even. but, he knew you better than anyone on the planet, and instantly knew something was wrong.
“Y/N, talk to me, tell me what’s wrong,” his voice was laden with concern, “and don’t try to tell me nothing because I know you’d be lying.”
You chuckled, ironically, sniffling a bit as you finally said, “I think Hyunjae cheated on me.”
A heavy silence filled the other end of the line. You knew Eric had ill feelings toward him the moment you introduced the two, but you stayed with him despite all of Eric’s warnings. You wouldn’t be surprised if your best friend immediately started in on the “I told you so” and “you should have listened to me,” but instead, he abruptly ended the call. you instantly started texting him.
𝗬𝗢𝗨: eric for the love of god please don’t go to his house
𝗬𝗢𝗨: if you do i will never forgive you
𝗬𝗢𝗨: i mean it
Despite all of your texting, he never replied to any of your messages. You sighed in defeat, flopping back onto your bed with fresh tears streaming down your face. You couldn’t help but stare at the video of your boyfriend - if you could even call him that at this point - kissing someone who was definitely not you.
How could you be so stupid? How could you not listen to the one person you trusted the most in this world? If you had, you wouldn’t be in the position you are now. You wouldn’t be feeling so heartbroken. You couldn’t help but text Eric again in hopes he would reply to you soon.
𝗬𝗢𝗨: i’m sorry for not listening to you
𝗬𝗢𝗨: i knew there was a chance of this happening and still got into a relationship with him anyway
𝗬𝗢𝗨: and then woke you up only to more than likely annoy you
𝗬𝗢𝗨: just…. please don’t bring harm to him, i’m afraid he’ll do something worse to you too.
You tossed your phone to the side, covering your face with your hands and letting a quiet, muffled sob rumble in your chest. You were too absorbed in your own thoughts to even hear the loud footsteps in the hallway or your door barging open. You only took notice when a weight was sinking down on the other side of your bed and a pair of arms were pulling you into their chest.
“What are you crying for, dummy?” upon hearing his voice in your ear, your practically melted into him, your tears soaking into the fabric on his shoulder.
He pulled you closer, squeezing your frame tightly against his own with a sad sigh. He hated seeing you like this, especially over a boy who didn’t give you the time of day to begin with. He just wished you weren’t so oblivious about what he felt for you.
Oblivious to how he could treat you so much better.
Finally, you pulled away and look up at him, wiping underneath of your eyes with a quiet sniffle, “I can’t talk about it here, I don’t want my parents to hear.”
“Let’s go out for a drive then,” Eric stated.
“Dude, it’s 11:00 on a school night, there’s no way they will let me leave,” you replied, half-heartedly gesturing to your desk, “besides, I have work I have to do.”
“Y/N.”
“What?”
“Do you really think you’re gonna do your homework in the state you’re in right now? Because I don’t,” he countered, his eyebrow raised slightly as if to question you.
You shrugged at his words, “even if you’re right, my parents still won’t let me leave.”
Eric clapped his hand onto your shoulder, a sly grin stretching across his thin lips, “that’s why we sneak out, idiot. When I came in I told them I was bringing you a textbook you left at my house. When I leave, just climb out your window and meet me at my car.”
He didn’t really give you much of a chance to answer before he was practically vaulting himself off of his bed and out of your room, closing the door tightly behind him. You sighed, shaking your head.
If you got caught, he was taking the blame.

Once you were finally far enough away from your house to stop worrying, you relaxed into the passenger seat of Eric’s car and willed yourself not to start full blown crying again. He was the first to break the silence.
“How did you find out?”
You stared down at your lap, messing with a loose string at the end of one of your hoodie sleeves, “he went to a party with Kevin and Sangyeon. Apparently Chanhee as there too because he was the one who sent me the video.”
Eric’s grip on the steering wheel tightened and you could visibly see his jaw clench at your words, “they had the audacity to send you a video of it?”
You nodded, “at the end Hyunjae realized what was happened and practically begged Chanhee to turn off the camera. He said something along the lines of if I found out, I wasn’t going to let him live it down.”
After that, you continued to rant, allowing everything to be said into the open and lift the weight off your shoulders. Throughout all of it, Eric kept his eyes on the road but his ears open, listening to everything you had to say. He wanted you to feel like your feelings mattered and that he would always be by your side, no matter what.
Because he always would be, even if it broke his heart.
iii.
Despite the breakdown you had over Hyunjae, you still decided to give him a second chance. You talked with him and told him the next time anything of the sort happened, the two of you were done for good. Needless to say, Eric was more than pissed.
The moment he saw you walking hand in hand with the same man that cheated on you in the hallway, he saw red. You had only caught a glimpse of your best friend before he was storming out of the double doors, leaving school entirely.
Once fully settled in his car, he hit his hands roughly against the steering wheel, frustrated tears gliding down his face almost effortlessly at this point. When were you going to learn that you deserved better? When were you going to learn that when someone cheats once, they almost always do it again? When were you going to actually give a damn about yourself?
When were you going to acknowledge him?
As if on a queue, his phone chimed to several messages from you, ones of which expressed your concern as to why he was leaving school.
𝗬𝗢𝗨: are you okay?
𝗬𝗢𝗨: do you feel sick?
𝗬𝗢𝗨: do you want me to come with you?
𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖: i’m fine. just didn’t feel up to being here today.
𝗬𝗢𝗨: do you want company?
𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖: no, it’s okay. i just need to clear my head. besides, you have a test today.
𝗬𝗢𝗨: okay… be safe wherever you go today.
𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖: i will.
𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖: y/n?
𝗬𝗢𝗨: what?
𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖: keep your guards up this time. i know for a fact he won’t hesitate to hurt you again.

iv.
You really wished that Eric’s advice would stop being right.
Here you were, once again, feeling your heart shatter into a million pieces. All because Lee Hyunjae didn’t know how to keep his hands to himself when he was around other people that weren’t you.
After receiving a plethora of unledgible texts from you, he was able to only make out that you needed to skip school and wanted him to come with you. He didn’t mind the skipping, really, because he hated school anyway so it was never an issue.
However, what he didn’t expect was to find you stumbling out of the bathroom with tear stained cheeks a puffy eyes. He didn’t even need to hear you say what happened before he already knew your current state was because of Hyunjae. Sighing, he grabbed your arm and practically drug you out to his car.
Once the both of you were inside, he began driving out to the spot you always went to whenever you wanted to skip class because you knew nobody would ever find you there; the creek.
The drive there was painfully silently, the car only filled with your cries and sniffles every once in a while. You could sense that Eric was fuming next to you, and you didn’t dare speak until he asked you to explain what happened this time. Within minutes you were parked in your spot, sitting at the edge of the creek with your legs drawn up to your chest. Eric studied you for a moment before he finally decided to start talking.
“Why do you always settle for the people who you know will find some way to break you?” his tone was slightly bitter as he spoke, “why do you always settle for scum?”
You were taken aback by his questions, “I- what? since when has anyone other than Hyunjae been scum? Please, enlighten me, Eric.”
“Hmm let’s see… Juyeon put you down every chance he could get, Younghoon never cared about your opinion or what you had to say, and Hyunjae cheated on you, and with every single one I told you they were gonna treat you horribly. Do I really need to continue?” he didn’t hesitate to spit out a list to you, and you felt anger beginning to bubble up in your stomach.
“Since when do you get to decide who I should and shouldn’t date?” you fired back.
“I never said that, Y/N, but I told you before all three of those relationships that you should seriously take into account how their last ones ended. I was right about them all, especially Hyunjae, and you still went back to him anyway.”
You scoffed, staring out ahead of you, “I cannot believe you just said that to me. As a best friend you’re supposed to comfort me now and tell me later that I was an idiot and needed to do better.”
Eric rose to his feet, and started to pace back and fourth along the bank of the creek. He was fuming, and you knew it. You followed suit, standing up to start walking in the opposite direction of him before his words stopped you.
“I just want to know why you gave him a second chance after he broke you so badly the first time.”
You sighed, “I don’t know, Eric. I guess I just enjoy the feeling of someone loving me even if it’s twisted.”
“You deserve someone who truly loves you.”
You laughed sadly, stating, “well in case you haven’t noticed, nobody in my life seems to love me like that.”
Something within Eric seemed to snap, and the next thing you knew, his voice was echoing throughout the woods surrounding the creek, “I do!”
“What?” the tone of surprise was evident in your voice, “Eric, what are y-“
“I love you, okay? I have loved you from the beginning of our high school career all the way up until now. I have loved you even when you were at the lowest points in your life. I’ve loved you even when you were dating those shitty people,” he yelled, “and it has broken my fucking heart every time I have to see you get walked all over and every time you’re completely oblivious to me.”
He began to walk closer to you, standing only a few feet away from you now, his chest heaving and pain dancing effortlessly in his eyes, “I love you, Y/N, why can’t you see that?”
A small silence fell between the two of you before you quietly said, “I’ve been oblivious to you because I’m afraid of losing the one person I have ever truly cared about on this earth. If we were to ever date and break up, I really don’t think I could handle it.”
“You’re not gonna lose me,” eric’s voice cracked, but you could tell how genuine his words were, “even if you don’t feel the same, I’m content with loving you without it being returned. At least this way I can still have you in my life.”
Without any hesitation, you closed the distance between the two of you and pressed your lips against his own, taking the taller boy by surprise before he finally melted into you, his hands cupping your face gently. You pulled away, looking into his eyes before saying, “a part of me has loved you this whole time too, I’ve just been too afraid to admit to myself, let alone you.”
Eric only kissed you again, this time with the reassurance that you would never lose him, that he would never treat you the way any of the other people did. Somehow, you knew everything was going to be okay.
It always was when you were with him.

what it takes to make a villain masterlist
Tumblr media
“P-Please… have mercy. You were Eclipse, the protector of mankind!” The police chief on the ground pleads, battered and bruised from the villain’s endless beatings. Icarus remains silent, no remorse or forgiveness in his gaze as he stares down at the man coldly.
“Please—”
“You say this now, but you still tried to shoot me that day.” Icarus states, and the man slowly closes his mouth.
Haknyeon once saw the beauty in the world, believing that good can overcome evil, that he can help prevent the corruption of society.
He was wrong.
Haknyeon was the superhero that the world relied on, Eclipse. The most powerful being known to man, capable of flight, telekinesis, telepathy, and magic. He believed in fighting for the people, for the greater good. Even when he was in a brawl against someone who tried to pursue their own selfish needs, he still tried to see the good in them.
He was taken advantage of, spat on, lied to, and almost killed. Even after everything he did for mankind, people still wanted more, they always wanted him to do more, and he always did just that. No matter how life-threatening, dangerous, or painful it was, he always came and saved the day.
Haknyeon was selfless, and the world knew that.
But the one time Haknyeon wanted to be selfish, he paid the worst price imaginable. And now?
“Eclipse… please—” Haknyeon’s eyes glow a deep red as he raises his hand up towards the chief’s face. He lets out a dark laugh, a tingle of excitement travelling down his spine at the fear in his eyes. “There is no more Eclipse to protect you.”
Haknyeon is known as Icarus, the darkest villain the world has come to know.
three years before
“You are very lucky to have survived the fire in the building.” The news reporter says, holding out the microphone towards the woman.
She lets out a small smile, “Eclipse saved my life, I’m forever indebted to him.”
“Ah…” The reporter trails off at the mention of him, snapping out of their previous thought as they nod their head at the woman. “Of course, what would we do without Eclipse, hm?”
Haknyeon watches his television, lips pressed together in a thin line, when suddenly the screen turns black. He opens his mouth in protest, only to stop when he locks eyes with a stern looking Hyunjun.
“What did I tell you about watching the news?” Hyunjun asks as he places the remote down onto the coffee table, and Haknyeon rests his head in his hands as he awaits for his friend to start scolding him.
“Don’t watch it.”
“And what were you doing?”
Haknyeon just sighs, looking down at the floor as he mumbles, “Watching television.”
Hyunjun stares at the superhero, hating that he has to act like the mom friend, but knowing that it’s hard on Haknyeon whenever he watches the news. Even after everything his friend has done for the world, all of the sacrifices he’s made, the pain he’s been put through, society never thanks him.
Tabloids call him an alien who will bring doom to us all, news outlets say he’s a danger to the world and that humans shouldn’t be so accepting of him, social media attempts to find his true identity, and others try to find the superhero’s weakness.
But Haknyeon still smiles brightly and saves the day whenever he’s needed.
Hyunjun purses his lips, gently patting the brunette’s head, causing him to look up. He smiles softly, “Come on, let’s go buy groceries.”
Haknyeon just nods his head, standing up from the couch and putting a bucket hat over his fluffy hair. He follows after his friend, but the thought of the reporter’s grimace when the victim mentioned his name lingers in his brain.
Tumblr media
“We need green onions.” Haknyeon says as he stares down at the grocery list. Since Hyunjun and him typically hate going to the grocery, they made it a routine to split up and grab whatever they need on their halves of the store.
It’s lessened their time spent at the grocery store by at least 15 minutes. Hyunjun swears that it’s an hour, but Haknyeon knows that it is quite literally 15 minutes.
The brunette grabs the best looking green onions in the produce section and places it into the bag, putting it into his basket as he walks over towards the fruits. When he’s about to throw a bag of cuties into the basket, the sound of shouting coming from the front of the store captures his attention.
He glances around, seeing that no one else is able to hear the commotion since they’re so far from the entrance. Letting out a breath, he calmly walks over towards the direction of the shouting, trying to blend into the crowd to the best of his ability.
Once he makes it to the entrance, he squints his eyes when he sees an unruly customer yelling at you, the poor cashier who was just trying to do their job.
“I’m sorry, sir, but I can’t do anything about your card being declined. Do you have another form of payment that you can use?” You suggest, even giving him a small smile to try and appease him, but you watch as a vein almost pops out of his forehead in anger from your words.
“Are you looking down on me right now? Do you really think I believe that my card was declined?” You bite the inside of your cheek when you watch the man lean closer to you, and you feel an inkling of fear flood your system when your eyes trail down to see his hand clenching into a fist.
“Sir, I’m so sorry, that wasn’t my intention—”
“Shut up.” The man hisses, and you flinch back when you see him raise his fist, only to feel nothing at all. You slowly open your eyes to find a guy around your age holding back the older man’s fist.
“Who the fuck are you?” The angry customer spits out, and the guy just shrugs his shoulders, looking like the epitome of ease as the older man struggles against his hold. “What the fuck? Let go of me!”
“I’ll let you go when we leave the store.” He responds, before dragging him out of the store. You just stand there in shock as you watch the man struggle, but the younger guy just pulls him out with no signs of fatigue.
You blink, still trying to muster up your thoughts as you stare out the automatic doors, wondering if he’s okay.
Your attention is grabbed when you hear a sigh come from beside you, and you turn your head to see another guy around your age staring out the door as well, looking unsurprised. “Can’t take Haknyeon anywhere.”
You raise an eyebrow as you start ringing up the pretty man’s items, wondering who he must be talking about when the younger guy walks back in. You stare at him as you blindly scan the items, watching him walk up to your register as he gives you a smile.
“Are you okay? He didn’t hurt you, right?” He asks, only to let out a whine when the guy you were ringing up slaps his shoulder. “Hyunjun!”
“Haknyeon, did you not finish your side of the list?” The man named Hyunjun asks, and you watch as Haknyeon looks down at his shoes, the memory of the basket he just left by the section of tangerines coming to mind.
Hyunjun sighs, shaking his head as he pulls out his credit card to pay. You give him a small smile, finishing the transaction by handing him his receipt. He grins at you, before turning towards Haknyeon and gesturing over towards the produce aisle.
“Go finish your half of the groceries, I’m gonna go buy us drinks.” Hyunjun tells the brunette, who just nods his head. You watch as the pretty man walks out the doors, leaving you and Haknyeon alone.
“Thank you for helping me.” You say quietly, and he gives you a bright smile that makes your cheeks flood with warmth.
“Of course! I was worried he was going to hit you, but he shouldn’t be bothering you anymore.” You nod your head, and he bids you goodbye before walking off. Biting the inside of your cheek, you turn back towards the register to see another customer putting their items onto the conveyor belt, and you let out a breath.
Unbeknownst to you, Haknyeon is standing close by, only leaving to the produce section when he sees the pretty smile grace your features again as you converse with the elderly customer.
Tumblr media
“Give up.” Haknyeon hisses at the man below him, holding him down to the ground. The man chuckles darkly, “Never.”
The superhero feels himself getting thrown towards the wall, only managing to stop himself right before he slams onto the surface. He shoots a death glare towards the man through his mask, breathing heavily as he throws the garbage can in the guy’s direction.
Haknyeon was having a lovely day before this. He was inside his shared apartment with Hyunjun, eating cereal and talking about coding since the latter has developed a deep interest in the subject. He even watched Hyunjun code a bit for a video game his friend was creating, that was until the sound of an emergency alert was heard from their television.
Hyunjun didn’t even get the chance to tell Haknyeon to come home safely because his best friend was already out of the apartment and flying through the air.
And now here Haknyeon is, fighting a villain from outer space that had heard of the powerful hero defending Earth and its inhabitants instead of enjoying his cereal like he wanted to.
The reason the villain came to Earth? To defeat Eclipse.
Haknyeon isn’t using all of his strength, he still has yet to use all of his power when fighting against villains. He’s never killed anyone, and he doesn’t ever want to, and the man must know this, as he’s trying to provoke the hero to the best of his abilities.
“You’re weak. How come everyone is talking about you as if you’re some God?” The man asks with a dry laugh, and Haknyeon just clenches his jaw. Without hesitation, he knocks his opponent out with a single punch, watching as he slumps to the ground.
Haknyeon lets out a breath, resting his hands on his knees as he stares at the villain below him. Pursing his lips, he drags the unconscious man towards the ship that he arrived in and throws him into the seat, binding him to it. He quickly types in the coordinates of the planet that handles those who try to cause destruction to other inhabited planets, before pressing start and stepping off the ship.
He watches as it departs from the street and flies up into the sky until it’s out of sight, and he sighs. Glancing around at his surroundings, he takes in some of the damage to the convenience stores and cars, and he winces when one of the car alarms starts to blare.
“At least the damage isn’t as bad as last time.” Haknyeon mutters to himself, looking up at the sky when he starts to hear the cheers from those who live in the apartment complexes that line the street. He smiles softly behind his mask, feeling a sense of relief from the fact that no one was harmed as he looks at the people shouting his alias outside of their windows.
“Thank you, Eclipse!”
Haknyeon does a full bow, before standing back up at his height and flying into the sky, now out of sight from the citizens. He stares down at the city lights beneath him as he flies through the clouds, worried about what they’re possibly going to say about him in the news outlets tomorrow morning.
“Ah, Hyunjun wouldn’t want me to think like this.” Haknyeon says, but the thoughts still flood his mind the closer he gets to their apartment building. Biting the inside of his cheek, he slowly descends to the top of a different building, deciding that he should stay out and clear his thoughts before going home.
Haknyeon snaps his fingers so that his Eclipse outfit changes into his normal clothes and walks over to the ledge, sitting down so that his legs dangle off the edge. He remembers when he first got his powers, how each of them awakened, and how afraid he was when he was younger. However, the ability to help those who needed it was able to soothe those fears he had felt.
Except new fears have developed with each article, each press conference discussing whether or not his intentions are good, the growing number of those who want to find out his true identity and his weaknesses.
Haknyeon’s afraid.
All he’s done is try to help people, everything he does is for the greater good, but the media makes him out to be a villain. He’s constantly in fear of people finding out about Hyunjun, or discovering who he is behind the mask.
“Is this really what I want to do?” Haknyeon asks himself quietly, having finally spoken the question he’s been wondering for months now.
“Haknyeon?” The brunette’s eyes widen at the voice, and he turns his head to find you standing by the door, eyebrows furrowed as you stare at him. His jaw drops, recognition appearing across his features when the memory of your first meeting pops into his mind.
“Grocery store person!” Haknyeon exclaims, and you cringe at the nickname he’s given you as you walk over so that you’re standing beside him. He chuckles softly at the grimace on your face, “Sorry, I just never got your name that day.”
You shrug your shoulders, climbing onto the ledge and sitting down next to him. You let out a content sigh, looking out at the apartment building across from you, “My name is yn.”
Haknyeon nods his head, before he frowns, “How did you know my name?”
“Your friend said it when you threw out that unruly customer. Thank you again for that, by the way. I thought he was gonna hit me.” You say, and the brunette waves his hand at you as if to say, “No biggie.”
The two of you turn back towards the view, and you let out another sigh, the smallest of smiles on your faces as you take in the night sky. Haknyeon glances at you, “So, yn, what are you doing up on the roof at 10 pm?”
You chuckle at the question, looking around at your surroundings as you try to think of your answer. Haknyeon watches as your eyes wander around, taking notice of the sparkle to them when you finally turn towards him with a smile on your face.
“I like coming up here at night, looking out at the city and the stars brings me a lot of peace. The emergency broadcast system gave us the thumbs up to go outside again since Eclipse defeated that villain, so I came up here.” You explain, and Haknyeon bites the inside of his cheek at the mention of his alias. A thought comes to mind, and he knows Hyunjun would never let him ask this question, but he’s curious about what you think.
“Mm, what do you think of that guy?” Haknyeon asks, trying his best to keep his voice from wavering. You glance at him with an indecipherable expression on your face, and he already regrets asking the question.
He knows what’s coming. You’re gonna ridicule him, say that he’s a menace like what the news outlets report about him. He doesn’t understand why he asked you, he should’ve listened to what Hyunjun told him before. He should’ve never asked—
“I think Eclipse is misunderstood.” You answer with a slight furrow to your brow, and Haknyeon pauses, looking at you with a shocked expression on his face. Pursing your lips, you recall what all the news outlets say about the hero, how they misconstrue everything he does and make him out to look like the villain.
“He’s done nothing but protect us from all the bad in the world, which he isn’t even obligated to do. Us humans are the ones that fuck shit up and he comes to save us from our own demise, yet the news outlets make him out to be like some alien that’s gonna destroy us all.” You rant, and Haknyeon swallows the lump in his throat. Rubbing the back of your neck, you suck in a deep breath to calm down.
“I just, I just think that Eclipse is so good. He is so inherently good, too good for the world. We should be able to thank him for saving the day and risking his life without much else, but we always want more, and that’s our problem. He’s saved mankind, how many times? I can’t even count it on my fingers, but everyone’s such an ass to him. I just think he deserves better.” You finish, glancing at Haknyeon right as a tear falls from his left eye. Your jaw drops at the sight, and he quickly moves to wipe it away, but you’re already reaching out and cupping his face in your hands.
“Why are you crying? Are you okay?” You ask in worry, and the brunette just stares at you in a stunned silence.
No one but Hyunjun has comforted him or shown that they cared.
You wipe away the tears that fall from his eyes with the pads of your thumbs, worry etched across your features as more tears continue to flow out. Jutting your bottom lip out, you rest your hand on the back of Haknyeon’s head and pull him forward until his forehead rests on your shoulder.
“It’ll be okay, don’t worry.” You say softly, patting his back as his slow tears turn into sobs.
You don’t know Haknyeon, and Haknyeon doesn’t know you. But underneath the night sky, you offer comfort to the complete stranger as if you’ve known him for years.
And it gives Haknyeon a sliver of hope.
Tumblr media
“Hyunjun, I’m going out to see yn!” Haknyeon calls out as he rests his hand on the doorknob, a smile gracing his features when he hears his best friend telling him to be safe through a mouthful of food. He steps out of the apartment and closes the door behind him, walking down the hallway with a small skip to his step.
Since the night you had comforted Haknyeon a couple weeks ago, the two of you exchanged numbers and quickly became friends. Almost texting each other everyday, and even creating a groupchat with Hyunjun, you easily made your way into Haknyeon’s life.
Now here Haknyeon is, on his way to meet you for the day the two of you planned. It’s your day off and you just finished your classes, while Haknyeon was just sitting at home, so you decided to meet in the middle.
“Haknyeon!” You shout through the crowd of people, making the brunette look up in your direction, a bright smile forming on his face when he sees you wave at him excitedly. He quickly walks over to you, and you reach out and hook your arm with his so that you won’t lose him in the mass of people.
“Why is it so busy today?” Haknyeon asks as the two of you begin to walk towards the pho restaurant you wanted to try. You shrug your shoulders, looking around the park to see if there might be an event going on. You squint when your eyes catch onto a sign, and your mouth forms an ‘o’ shape.
“There’s a mini carnival going on!” You exclaim, pulling him towards the sign so that you both can read it. Turning your head, you watch as his eyes widen with wonder, and you grin at the sight.
“You wanna go play some carnival games before we go get food? It’ll be fun!” Haknyeon almost immediately nods his head at your offer, and you squeal in excitement. The two of you quickly make your way into the park, and Haknyeon watches as your features brighten when you see the numerous game booths to play from.
“Oh! Haknyeon, they have pig plushies we can win.” You point out, letting out a loud laugh when he does a quick u-turn and pulls you over to the game stand without a second thought.
When the two of you make it to the booth, you point towards the biggest pig plushie and ask the employee how to win it. As they begin to explain, you glance at Haknyeon to see him listening very intently to the instructions, making you bite your lip from bursting into laughter.
“Okay, are you ready to win the pig?” You ask, and the brunette nods with a determined look on his face. Handing him the rings for the bottles, you smile excitedly, “Win that pig!”
While cheering for Haknyeon as he tosses the rings, he has to bite his lip to stop from grinning like a fool at how happy he feels, even if he’s completely missing the bottles.
Yeah, he has telekinesis, but he’s not going to use it unless absolutely necessary.
“Ah, you didn’t win the big pig. However, you did win the medium sized one!” The employee says, and you raise your arms up in victory when they hand the burnette the cute pig plushie. Haknyeon grins, bowing his head in thanks before turning to you with a chuckle.
“What are you gonna name them?” You ask as the two of you move to the next booth, cooing at the cute pig as you walk. Haknyeon thinks to himself for a moment, watching the way the sunlight illuminates your features, making you shine even brighter than you usually do.
He smiles softly, turning back towards the pig plushie as a name finally comes to mind. “Sunny. I’ll name them Sunny.”
“Why not Sunshine?” You ask, genuine curiosity displayed over your face as you look at the brunette. He lets out a warm smile, nudging you with his shoulder shyly as he quietly answers, “Because that’s your nickname.”
You stare at him in silence for a moment, warmth slowly flooding your cheeks as the genuineness to his statement. Turning away, you nudge his shoulder out of shyness, eliciting a giggle out of him as he promptly changes the subject.
The two of you make your way up to the booth with the darts game. He takes note of the way your eyes sparkle when you see the large panda plushie, watching intently when you turn to the employee and ask how many balloons you need to pop to get the panda.
“You’ll have to pop all ten balloons to get the large panda plushie.” You nod your head, looking determined when he hands you the ten darts. Glancing back at Haknyeon, he raises his fists up and smiles at you, “Fighting!”
You grin, turning back towards the balloons as you pick up the dart from the table. Haknyeon’s eyes shine as he stares at the dart, flicking it towards the balloon as soon as it leaves your hand. You let out a squeal when the balloon pops, surprised that you were able to do it before picking up another one.
Poking your tongue past your lips, you carefully aim the dart and throw it towards the balloon, smiling in excitement when it hits another balloon. You turn towards Haknyeon, who claps his hands for you, making you chuckle as you grab another dart.
When all ten darts pop a balloon, you walk away happily while holding the large panda plushie in both of your arms. Haknyeon listens intently as you go off on a tangent about how you never expected to have hit ten balloons, saying “I honestly just left it up to God, and suddenly I discover I have a talent for dart throwing? This is amazing!”
While Haknyeon just smiles softly to himself, feeling content just from the sight of the pure joy radiating off your features as you hug the panda close to your chest.
Yes, Haknyeon thought that using his telekinesis was absolutely necessary to see you happy.

“You’ve been a lot happier recently.” Hyunjun points out while he and Haknyeon eat their lunch. The brunette glances up at his best friend, seeing him pointing at him with his chopsticks.
Haknyeon chuckles, “I have been.”
Hyunjun grins, taking a piece of kimbap and placing it in his mouth as he stares at his friend across from him. The dullness to Haknyeon’s eyes have faded, now bright and full of excitement like when he had first met the superhero.
“Do you like yn? It seems like you guys are already a couple, to be honest.” Hyunjun asks, and Haknyeon purses his lips at the question, making the black haired beauty raise an eyebrow in interest. “I guess we do, huh?”
When Haknyeon was losing hope in mankind, he met you, the epitome of all that is good in the world. You’re kind, generous, selfless, if there was a person with all the admirable traits, then it would be you. You reminded him that people do care, that the work he does isn’t in vain even if you didn’t know it.
You gave him hope.
Haknyeon smiles softly, opening his mouth to respond when the sound of his phone beeping calls his attention. Placing the chopsticks down, he picks up his phone to see what the disturbance is, frowning when he reads the message.
“What is it?”
“Bank robbery, they’re holding people hostage. I have to go.” Haknyeon mutters in a hurry, already standing up from the table and heading towards the balcony, his civilian clothes turning into his suit by the time he pushes open the doors.
“Be safe!” Hyunjun shouts out, feeling more worried than usual when he sees the brunette fly off into the sky. Biting his bottom lip, he walks over into the living room and grabs the remote, turning on the TV to the news channel.

You sit in the corner of the room, holding your knees to your chest as you stare down at the floor. You try to clench your fists to make your hands stop shaking, but to no avail.
“Just sit there tightly, no one will be leaving until we get that money.”
You hear a sniffle come from beside you, and you turn your head to find a woman sitting next to you, silent tears falling from her eyes as she looks at the floor. Biting the inside of your cheek, with your shaky hand you reach out and rest it over hers. She slowly glances up at you, and you give her a weak smile, “We’ll be okay.”
She nods her head, returning your smile as she turns her focus back to the floor. The two of you continue to hold hands, trying to offer comfort to each other even though you’re in a tragic situation.
You just wanted to go to the bank to make a deposit, it was supposed to be a quick transaction. You never expected to enter right when a robbery was about to occur, but with your horrid luck, that’s exactly how you ended up being held hostage with ten other people.
“Just hurry up and get them to unlock the safe, the cops are gonna be here soon.” The leader commands, growing more agitated by the minute.
“Sir, what if Eclipse comes?” Your head pops up at the mention of the superhero, watching as the leader simply glares at the guy who asked the question. He reaches out and slaps the back of his head, “That guy isn’t going to come and stop a goddamn bank robbery, he deals with alien shit.”
“I actually just deal with pieces of shit, alien or human.” A voice cuts in, and everyone turns to see Eclipse standing there in all of his glory. The leader’s mouth drops open, and before he can shout out a command, Eclipse is already moving to disarm all of his men.
You and the woman flinch back at the sounds of screaming, keeping a close eye out for a chance to escape when suddenly you catch sight of the leader staring at the woman sitting beside you. His eyes are ablaze with anger as he walks over to you and the other hostage, Eclipse being too busy fighting the other men to notice this.
“You.” He snarls, reaching out and grabbing the woman’s arm, making her scream. Your eyes widen in panic, and without thinking, you stand up and push him away from her, blocking her with your body as you stare him down.
“Get away from her.” You hiss, feeling the eyes of the other hostages on you as you stand your ground. Your hands shake at your sides, and you turn them into fists, feeling nothing but fear at what could happen to you as you stare at him.
“You’ll work just fine then.” The leader states, and before you can question him, he reaches out and pulls you forward, turning you around so your back is pressed to his front. You start to struggle against his hold, about to scream out when suddenly you feel a cool blade press against your throat, and you feel your blood run cold.
“Hurt any of my other men and they get killed!” The leader shouts, gaining the superhero’s attention as he turns in your guys’ direction.
Haknyeon’s heart stops when he sees you clawing at the man’s arm, pure fear in your eyes as you stare at him. Numerous thoughts run through his head, ranging from what the fuck you’re doing here, to the murderous rage he feels when he catches sight of the single tear that falls past your eye.
“Don’t touch them.” Haknyeon states, glaring at the man behind his mask. The grip around your throat tightens and you let out a cry of protest, watching as the superhero takes a step forward.
“Just let us get the money, and no one gets hurt.” The leader tries to reason, and Haknyeon clenches his fist at his side. When he attempts to take another step forward, the leader backs the two of you up and presses the blade harder into your neck, making sure that it breaks the skin as you bite back a sob.
Haknyeon loses all sense of his morals as soon as he sees the blood drip from your neck.
He never tries to use his powers against humans in fear that he may hurt them severely, but right now, at this moment, all he cares about is getting you away from that man.
Using his telekinesis, the blade falls from the leader’s hand and onto the floor, getting thrown far away into the corner. You watch in wonder as all the weapons the robbers had were thrown against the farthest wall, the sound of bullets and metal clanging to the floor mixed with shouts of protest.
“What the fuck—”
Within the next minute, the front doors fly open, the FBI and police bursting in with their guns in the air. The arm that was holding you suddenly disappears, and you collapse to the floor, breathing heavily as you try to get a grip on yourself.
With the shouts of expletives being thrown around from the robbers, and the cries of relief from the hostages, you stay down on the floor. It’s only when a hand rests on your back that you turn your head to see Eclipse kneeling down beside you. You give him a small smile to reassure him that you’re fine, but he just continues to stare at you in silence.
“Eclipse, hands in the air!” You hear, and you turn your head to find the police with their weapons drawn towards him. Your eyes widen in confusion, wondering why they’re acting like he’s the one who held innocent people hostage.
Haknyeon lets out a breath as he stands up, not surprised at their reactions as he prepares to just teleport somewhere else.
“Eclipse, we’ll shoot! Hands in the air!” He hears, and he just clenches his fist at his side, wondering what he did wrong. Your breath hitches in panic when you see an officer out of the corner of your eye staring at the superhero with his finger about to press the trigger.
“No!” You scream, standing up from the floor with your arms up in the air, blocking Eclipse from view. Haknyeon’s eyes widen in panic and he reaches out towards you, “YN NO—”
The loud bang from a gunshot rings around the room right after you hear your name, but it’s soon replaced by the sound of an automatic fan blowing. You open your eyes to find yourself wrapped in a strong pair of arms, no longer inside the bank, but in the middle of Hyunjun and Haknyeon’s apartment.
Pulling back, you let out a gasp when you see those familiar brown eyes boring into yours. “Haknyeon!?”
“Hi, Sunshine.” Haknyeon murmurs, and before you can question him any further, he slumps forward onto your shoulder. Your eyes widen, reaching out and wrapping your arms around him. Panic floods you when you feel something warm against your hand, and you lift it up, a scream falling past your lips when you see his blood.
“Who the fuck is in my apartment—Yn? Haknyeon?!” You turn your head to find Hyunjun walking over from his room, eyes filled with worry and fear as he helps take hold of Haknyeon. Tears pooling in your eyes as Hyunjun brings the brunette to the kitchen table.
“Yn, clear the table.” Hyunjun commands, and you nod your head, quickly removing the table mats and center pieces from the surface. You help Hyunjun lay Haknyeon onto his stomach, and you bite back a scream when you see the blood soaking the back of his t-shirt.
“I’m gonna go get my supplies.” You turn to Hyunjun when he walks off, “Are you qualified to take a fucking bullet out of someone?! You’re just about to start your residency!”
Hyunjun just gives you a serious look, “We can’t take Haknyeon to the hospital, I’m assuming you know that now.”
Biting your bottom lip, you turn back towards the brunette, tears falling past your eyes as you step over and sit down in the seat scooted into the table. You reach out and grasp his hand, resting your forehead onto the back of it as you close your eyes.
“Please. Please be okay.”

The first time Haknyeon realized he wasn’t like his other friends, he was four.
He was playing in a park with his friends while his mom spoke to the other parents. He was running around the playground when he saw that there was a cat stuck in the tree. Panicking, he tried to get help, but no one paid him any attention.
He started crying and wishing for the cat to get back onto the ground, covering his face with his hands as he cried loudly for the helpless creature.
When he opened his eyes, the cat was levitating down onto the grass, as if someone was carrying them onto the ground.
He told his mother and she didn’t believe him until he lifted a glass of water with his eyes. In turn, his mother passed out from shock.
One by one his powers were revealed to him, and he was told not to tell anyone, to keep to himself in school. It would be safer for him not to have anyone he loved dearly, and for everyone else to not remember him.
His mother always told him that it would just be them against the universe because he was special, too precious for the world to know about him. And Haknyeon believed every word his mom told him.
When his mother died by the time he had turned 16, Haknyeon realized it was only him against the world.
After her death, he became even more closed off than before. He spent lunches alone, did group projects by himself, and lived in isolation in a house that was once a home. That all changed when he went to university and met Hyunjun, the cold, but warm dancer that wanted to get to know the guy that kept to himself. The two quickly became friends, and have been ever since.
Haknyeon realized he wanted to save the world when he had first rescued Hyunjun from a fire that broke out during his lab, which just so happened to be the time his best friend discovered his powers.
Hyunjun helped design a costume to protect his identity, and created a system to alert Haknyeon whenever there was an emergency. It all went smoothly at first, with the public wondering who was the hidden figure that was doing a better job than the emergency services, and the brunette being able to help those who needed it. He felt like he was fulfilling his purpose, making the world a better place little by little.
Then aliens from space had learned about the superhero and started infiltrating Earth to attack him. News outlets and gossip channels wanted to expose who he was behind the mask. The special forces wanted to capture and run tests on him.
Hyunjun stopped turning on the TV whenever Haknyeon was around, and the brunette stopped checking social media as often.
Haknyeon started losing sight of his purpose, he thought that the world was too far from being saved. He was slowly coming to the conclusion that humans were their own worst enemies, it was an endless spiral of dark thoughts and feelings that consumed him.
That all stopped when he met you, the person who showed him nothing but kindness and warmth without even knowing him. Whenever Haknyeon heard you laugh or saw your bright smile, he was reminded that there is still good in the world.
And he promised to protect you, whatever it takes.

Haknyeon gasps awake, feeling like the room is spinning as he stares up at the white ceiling, breathing heavily. Moving to sit up, he lets out a groan when he registers a slight pain in his back, and he reaches back, feeling a large bandage beneath his shirt. Biting his bottom lip, he finally manages to sit up, remembering everything that led up to this moment.
“Damn, getting shot hurts.” Haknyeon mumbles to himself, only to jump up slightly when he hears a loud gasp come from the doorway. He looks up, finding you standing there with your hand covering your mouth, tears flooding your eyes as you stare at him.
A small smile comes across his features, “Sunshine, why are you crying?”
You blink at him, tears falling down your face when you see the warmth in his gaze. Without a word, you walk over and wrap your arms around him, nuzzling your face into his neck as you breathe in his scent.
Haknyeon’s eyes widen at the contact, before he slowly wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you onto his lap to hold you better. He listens to your rugged breathing as you cry, and he softly pats your back.
“Shh, it’s okay. I’m okay, yn. It’s okay.” Haknyeon mutters, biting back a laugh when he hears you sniffle rather loudly in response. He must’ve not hidden the laugh very well, considering the fact that you pinch his shoulder in retaliation.
Pulling back, you bite your bottom lip when you see the small smile on Haknyeon’s face as he coos at you. He raises his hands up to cup your face, wiping away the tears with the pads of his thumbs. You shut your eyes, reaching out and blindly hitting his shoulder lightly.
“Mm, should you be doing this to someone who’s injured?”
“Don’t risk your life for me like that.” You say, opening your eyes to find Haknyeon just staring at you with a serious expression on his face. You lower your head, “I’ve been so worried, I thought you died.”
“I couldn’t have been asleep for that long—”
“You’ve been asleep for three days, Haknyeon.” You cut off, and the brunette’s jaw drops slightly at the new information. You grip onto his t-shirt, not wanting to let him go ever again, “Do you know how scared I was? Each time I came into your room, you weren’t awake. Every time Hyunjun would come in to check on you, he would come out looking so empty.”
Haknyeon glances downward, almost feeling guilty the more you explain how you and Hyunjun have been handling his injury. Your bottom lip quivers as you stare at him, and you slowly lower your head until it rests against his forehead.
“Why would you risk your life for me? You have so much to live for... so much to protect.” You ask quietly, and Haknyeon just lets out a breath at your question. His arms that are wrapped around your waist hold you a bit tighter as he murmurs, “Too many questions.”
You purse your lips, “Haknyeon…”
“Can you just stay here with me? Like this?” Haknyeon asks, pulling back to look into your eyes. You can’t help but feel relieved as you stare into those deep brown eyes of his, even more grateful that they’re open. Giving him a small smile, you nod your head, leaning in and tucking your face into the crook of his neck again.
Haknyeon lets out a sigh of content, closing his eyes to focus on the feeling of holding you. The weight that’s built up on his shoulders over the years seemingly melts away as he breathes in your scent, wanting nothing more than to just stay like this.
“So I’m just chopped liver, huh?” You and Haknyeon pull away from each other and turn towards the door, finding Hyunjun standing there, arms crossed as he glares at the two of you. The brunette lets out a smile when he sees his best friend and gestures for him to come join you, to which he just squints.
“I don’t want your pity cuddle invite.”
“Do you want to cuddle or not?” You ask, opening your arms for him to come join you both as well. The black haired beauty lets out a sigh, before finally walking over and climbing onto the bed with you guys.
He reaches out and wraps his arms around both you and Haknyeon, closing his eyes as relief washes over him when he feels Haknyeon’s heartbeat against his hand. He’s always been worried about his best friend, and this was the closest he’s been to losing him.
Hyunjun nudges his head softly against the brunette’s, and the latter lets out a small smile, knowing exactly what his best friend must be feeling. He returns the nudge, signifying that he’s okay.
The three of you just sit on the bed cuddling for the rest of the evening, ultimately deciding not to talk about Haknyeon’s abilities until the next day. For now, Haknyeon just wants to be with the people he cares about most in the world.

“I want to help.”
“Absolutely not.” Haknyeon and Hyunjun cut in, and you let out a whine at the fact that they didn’t even let you finish.
“Can you at least look at my resume?”
“You don’t have a resume, and even if you did, we wouldn’t look at it because it’s too dangerous.” Hyunjun explains with a stern expression on his face, and you jut your bottom lip out. You turn and glance at Haknyeon, but he just shakes his head at you.
“I’ve known Hyunjun for years, and I have never let him join in or help me on any of Eclipse’s shit. It’s dangerous.” Haknyeon tells you pointedly, and you scowl at the pretty man. “Come on!”
“Yn.” Haknyeon says, voice lower and much more serious than it was previously. Staring into his eyes, you see no traces of the usual joy that you’re used to, only seeing something dark and sorrowful behind his gaze. Biting your bottom lip, you look away and nod your head.
“Okay, I’ll stop.”
Hyunjun gives you a reassuring smile as he places a piece of seaweed into your bowl, and you nod your head in gratitude. Taking a bite of it, you listen as the black haired beauty seemingly changes the subject to talk about how his residency in the hospital is going.
Haknyeon sneaks a peek at you as he bites a piece of pork belly, seeing the brightness to your eyes that he loves so much. When he hears you giggle softly, he looks away, realizing just how precious you are to him.
And he’s going to protect you no matter what.

“So you can like, hear my thoughts?”
“No.”
“Okay.”
A moment of silence passes between you two, and the superhero is about to let out a breath of relief.
“What am I thinking of right now?”
Haknyeon lowers his phone to give you a look, just to find you laying on the floor on the other side of the room. You lift up your head to glance at him when you don’t hear a response, finding him staring at you with a bored expression on his face.
“... Well?” Haknyeon sighs and turns away, hearing you let out a loud laugh from behind him. Sitting up from the carpet, you crawl over and rest your head on the arm of the couch, watching him scroll through an online store for clothes.
“Are you ignoring me?” You ask when the brunette doesn’t acknowledge your presence, and you let out a squeak when you hear his voice in your head say, “Yes.”
“You just spoke to me!” You exclaim, clearly taken aback as he turns to glance at you with a chuckle. He lowers his phone as he flashes you that warm smile of his, “Did I?”
It’s been a month since you’ve learned of Haknyeon’s true identity, and it’s been pretty smooth sailing. You practically live at their shared apartment considering that you come over almost everyday after your classes or your shifts. Since he wouldn’t let you go with him when he had to fight, you decided to help out in the background the same way Hyunjun did. You re-coded the emergency alert to make it cover areas more broadly, and you also cook dinner for Haknyeon whenever he comes back from saving the world.
You didn’t consider the last part as being helpful, but both Haknyeon and Hyunjun had called you a lifesaver when they smelled the stew you were cooking. Which you personally thought was quite a compliment considering the real lifesaver among the three of you.
“You spoke to me in my head! Does that mean you can really read my thoughts?” You ask, eyes widening as you reach up and rest your fingers onto your temples. Haknyeon just rolls his eyes and sets his phone down beside him. He leans forward and gently grabs your wrists, pulling your hands away from your head, causing you to look into his eyes.
“I can speak to people through telekinesis, and I can also read their thoughts if I choose to. However, I hardly ever use that ability because of how tiring it is.” Haknyeon explains, and you nod your head in understanding even though you could never actually know what he means by that.
“Is it physically draining?” You ask when Haknyeon lets go of your wrists, and you climb up onto the couch and sit beside him. He purses his lips and shrugs his shoulders, “Depending on the stuff I hear, it can be physically draining. It’s more mentally exhausting though, people are scary.”
You rest your head on the palm of your hand, taking notice of the faraway look in Haknyeon's eyes after he mutters the sentence. Knowing better than to press him for what he means by that, you simply reach out and fix some strands of his brown hair. He smiles at the fond gesture, looking up at you with the sparkle back in his eyes.
“Thank you.” Haknyeon says softly, and you grin. Right as you open your mouth to ask him what movie you want to watch, the apartment door bursts open, and the two of you turn your heads to find Hyunjun standing there.
“Hey.” You greet, and the black haired beauty just sends you both a wicked grin. Haknyeon raises an eyebrow in question, just for it to get answered when Hyunjun holds up the bag he was hiding behind his back.
“Tteokbokki?!” You exclaim, standing up from the couch in excitement as your friend nods his head happily. Haknyeon’s mouth practically waters from the mention of spicy rice cakes, quickly following after you and walking towards the kitchen.
“What’s the special occasion?” Haknyeon asks as he grabs the bowls from the cupboard, turning around to find you helping Hyunjun open up the containers of take out. The black haired beauty just shrugs his shoulders, giving Haknyeon a smile, “I was just in a mood for spicy rice cakes after my shift.”
You clap your hands in agreement, making Hyunjun chuckle as he sits in the seat beside you. Haknyeon walks over and sets a bowl in front of you and Hyunjun, before sitting down in the seat across from you. The three of you quickly dig into the food, talking about the pretty boy’s shift at the hospital and laughing when he starts complaining about a few patients.
“This one patient was so angry that we needed to take their vitals that they threatened to pee on me! And I was the one standing off to the side!” Hyunjun exclaims, and you practically inhale a rice cake, making the two guffaw when you start coughing.
“I can’t believe the two of you just laughed when I was fighting for my life just now.” You say after having gulped down a whole glass of water. Haknyeon comes out of the kitchen with a refilled cup, and he just sends you an apologetic smile as he sets it down in front of you. “Sorry, yn. It’s just that Hyunjun started laughing so I lost my mind.”
You squint at the brunette, and he just sends you one of his eye smiles that make your legs turn into jelly. Pursing your lips, you sigh and pet his head, making him grin happily at your forgiveness. When you lean back into your chair, you turn your head to glare at Hyunjun, who is just calmly chewing on some tteokbokki.
Registering the silence, Hyunjun slowly turns his head towards you, seeing the fire behind your eyes as you stare at him. “What?”
“Are you gonna apologize?” You ask, and he just blinks at you. You’re about to smile in victory, only for your mouth to drop open when he snorts and shakes his head. “No, it was hilarious.”
“Why you little—” And with that, a war erupts in the apartment between you and Hyunjun. The sounds of shrieks and laughter flood the atmosphere as you chase after him with your skewer, while the black haired beauty continues to dodge your attacks while sprinting.
“GET BACK HERE!”
“NEVER!”
Haknyeon’s eyes just follow after the two of you, fondness dripping from his features when your bright smile comes into view as you and Hyunjun run past him. He reaches out and takes a rice cake, placing it into his mouth as his heart warms from the sound of your laughter.
On this rare peaceful night, Haknyeon finds solace in your smile.
Tumblr media
You and Haknyeon lay side by side on the floor, debating on whether or not to go and bother Hyunjun at the hospital just for the sake of being a pure menace.
“I just think that deep down, he’d be happy to see us.” You say, and the brunette snorts. “You just want to bother him cause you like seeing him annoyed.”
“True.” Haknyeon laughs at how quickly you admitted the real reason you wanted to go, and you grin at the sound. Rolling over on the floor, you rest your arm over Haknyeon’s stomach, making the latter turn to you with a raised eyebrow. “Mm?”
“If you won’t let me bother Hyunjun, then I’ll bother you instead.” You murmur, and he chuckles at your thought process. Rolling over, your guy's legs become tangled as he wraps his arm around you, pressing a light kiss to your temple when he closes his eyes. You smile softly, the rate of your heartbeat increasing slightly from the fond gesture.
“Even though we’re cuddling while laying on this uncomfortable floor,” You start, stirring Haknyeon from his impending nap. He nods, and you take it as a sign to continue. “You feel like home.”
Haknyeon moves to pull away so he can get a good look at your face, but you simply burrow your face into his chest so that he can’t see how shy you feel at your confession. He smiles softly, letting you hide as he decides to stroke your hair.
“I found a home in you too, yn.” He mutters, and you feel your face burn with warmth. Settling to just close your eyes and pretend the mutual confession didn’t occur, you try to fall asleep. Haknyeon continues to pat your head softly, lulling you to sleep as he keeps his eyes closed as well.
“Let’s stay like this forever.” Haknyeon says quietly, feeling nothing but peace as he holds you within his arms. You grin, opening your mouth to respond when a loud ring shoots through the apartment, causing the two of you to bolt upwards. A feeling of dread pools in your stomach when the brunette stands up from the floor and walks over into the other room to read the system alert.
You slowly stand up and follow after him, only for your eyes to widen when he walks right past you, already suited up as Eclipse. “Haknyeon?”
“There’s a guy downtown who’s making bomb threats and he’s loaded as well, I have to go.” He explains quickly, preparing to get out of the window when he suddenly feels your warm hand wrapped around his wrist.
Haknyeon glances back at you, seeing an almost desperate look on your face as you beg, “Please don’t go. I have a bad feeling about this.”
He bites his bottom lip, gently removing his hand from your grip as he gives you a reassuring smile. “I’ll be okay, Sunshine. I’ll be back with you before you know it.”
And without another word, Haknyeon hops out the window and soars through the air. Leaving you alone in his apartment, numerous thoughts and possibilities running rampantly through your mind.
Tumblr media
“Run! Run for your life!” The deranged man screams out, maniacal laughter pouring from his lips soon after as he stares up at the sky. He turns his head and smiles at the number of people fleeing the scene, feeling a rush of power flow through him.
Haknyeon floats down from the sky, landing softly behind the man so that his arrival isn’t heard. He watches as the man looks around, before he takes notice of a presence behind him. Turning his head, the guy’s eyes widen slightly when he finds Eclipse standing not too far from him.
“Eclipse.” He breathes out, hand reaching for the gun strapped to his waist. Haknyeon just tilts his head at the action, “Why are you causing such a ruckus?”
The man pauses, having not expected such a question. He looks up towards the superhero, finding him staring right back at him, unmoving as he waits for his response. Clearing his throat, he just gives Eclipse an evil smile.
“I wanted to bring chaos to the city that ruined my life.” He answers calmly, the tone of his voice sending an eerie feeling through the superhero. Haknyeon places his hands behind his back, “Can I ask what happened?”
The man just stares at Eclipse, before looking away, a flicker of pain flashing right past his eyes. Before Haknyeon can utter another word, the man pulls out his gun and aims it at the superhero. He quickly dodges the bullet and flies over to the man, disarming him and throwing the gun far from reach.
“Where are the bombs? Where’d you put them?” Haknyeon asks as he holds the man against the ground, and he bites his bottom lip when he just receives a laugh in response. “You’ll never get to them all in time, at least one will detonate and create a domino effect across the city.”
Haknyeon quickly creates a pair of handcuffs out of thin air, connecting the man to a pole before standing up and looking around. He closes his eyes as he tries to sense where the bombs could be when he’s by one of the buildings, and he immediately teleports to the next street when he hears the sound of ticking.
Quickly defusing the bomb, he travels to the next few streets and finds the rest of the explosives. After making sure they’re no longer going to explode, he flies back over to the perpetrator of the attack, finding him sitting against the pole.
“It’s over. The authorities will be here soon.” Haknyeon announces once he lands softly onto the ground. The older man just stares at the superhero, before letting out a chuckle and turning his head away. “For me or for you?”
Haknyeon blinks, “What?”
“Come on, you and I both know the authorities and the media have it out for you. They don’t like the idea of you, never have.” He explains, a hint of bitterness to his tone as he glances back at Eclipse. He may not like the fact that the superhero intervened with his plans, but he could never agree with how the media and the government portrays him.
Haknyeon just looks away, seeing the red and blue flashing lights heading towards the two of them rather quickly. Biting his bottom lip, he glances back at the man, seeing the blank look in his eyes. Sucking in a breath, he asks, “What’s your name?”
The question makes the man visibly pause, and he turns to look at Haknyeon, a slight raise to his eyebrow as he stares at the superhero. He lets out a small smile after a moment, “My name is Haru.”
“Why’d you place bombs across the city?” Haknyeon asks afterwards, and Haru just shrugs his shoulders. He looks past the superhero, seeing the police cars line up the block as they prepare to step out of their vehicles.
“Humans are the greediest creatures of them all.” Haru mutters, and just like that, the shouts of policemen come from the streets. Haknyeon turns towards the voices, seeing the special forces come forward to arrest Haru.
He promptly releases the perpetrator from the pole as soon as the FBI have him in their hold, and they bring him towards their vehicle to arrest him. Haknyeon lets out a sigh, preparing to fly back to the apartment, only to pause when he hears the sound of guns drawing.
He looks up to find the police holding their weapons up towards him, and he lets out a sad smile at the sight. “Hands up in the air, Eclipse. We won’t let you get away this time.”
Haru glances back at the police, scoffing so loudly that a few turn to look at him. The FBI holding him stops dragging him when he halts his movement, and he gestures towards all the officers, “I’m the real villain here, and you’re all pointing your guns at Eclipse?”
“This doesn’t concern you.”
“I’m the one that caused this whole mess! Of course it concerns me!” Haru shouts back, and the FBI agent jolts him rather violently at the snarkiness to his tone. He scowls at her, before turning back to the officers, “You’re all fucked up. We’re all fucked up!”
“Get rid of him.” The police chief orders, still holding his own gun up in the superhero’s direction.
Chaos erupts when Haru starts fighting back against the FBI, shouts of anger and pain filling the cold air as the police hurry over to try and restrain the man. Haknyeon’s eyes widen and he runs over to stop them from hurting Haru, but right as he grabs one of the officers, a gunshot rings through the air.
“Haru!” Hakyneon shouts. He begins to frantically push through the crowd of officers, thinking that they’ve shot the man who was ultimately defenseless due to the superhero disarming him earlier.
“Haknyeon?” Only for the brunette to freeze at the familiar voice, blood running cold as he slowly turns his head.
“Yn?”
You’re standing not too far from him, clutching your stomach with a confused expression on your face as the police chief in front of you watches in horror. The gun he had shot from slowly falls from his hands, and the man quickly backs away from the scene.
Haknyeon immediately runs over and wraps his arms around you, searching your face as you stare into his eyes through his mask. “Yn? What happened? What are you doing here?”
“Something happened. I-I don’t know what happened. Am I okay?” You ask, feeling lightheaded as the clouds darken above the two of you. Removing your hand from your stomach, your eyes widen when all you can see is red. Panic seizes Haknyeon’s heart when he looks down at your hand, and the all too familiar feeling of warmth seeps onto his stomach as he keeps you from falling.
“You’re okay, Sunshine. You’re okay.” Haknyeon reassures you, slowly lowering the two of you onto the ground so that you’re resting on his lap. The superhero turns towards the officers and FBI agents who are just watching you and him in silence, shock written across their faces. “P-Please get help! Please! Call for help!”
“Haknyeon.” You mutter, tears flooding your eyes as your hand rests against his, feeling warmth flow through your fingers as you stare up at him. He looks back down at you, heartbeat running a mile a minute within his chest, “Yeah, yn?”
“I want to go home. Let’s go home.” You murmur, fighting back the oncoming fatigue as you stare at the man you love. Your memories start flashing before your eyes, all the laughter and joy you and Haknyeon had shared in the few months you’ve known each other. He nods his head, “I’ll take you home, yn. We’ll go home, I promise.”
“Please, I wanna go home.” You cry, and Haknyeon bites back a sob as he just tries to appease you. He glances around at the officers, seeing some talking through their walkie-talkies and others just watching you and the superhero.
“I-I’m scared.” Haknyeon’s heart breaks within his chest at your soft voice. He quickly mutters, “It’s okay. It’ll be okay, yn. Hold on a bit longer for me, please.” and closes his eyes as he tries to channel his power into teleporting the two of you to the hospital. He bites back a scream of frustration when he opens his eyes to find the two of you still sitting on the concrete in the middle of the city, wondering why his powers aren’t working when he needs them to.
“When we get home,” You suddenly cough, and Haknyeon feels the blood drain from his face when he sees the red splatter on your lips. He frantically shakes his head, tears falling past his eyes as he holds you tighter, turning towards the officers again, “PLEASE! CALL FOR HELP!”
“W-When we get home, can we stay in bed forever? Like you said?” You ask, the light in your eyes fading as you stare up at him. Haknyeon nods his head, desperately trying to get himself to teleport, to fly, anything.
But nothing is working as he holds you, and he lets out a cry of pain when you struggle to keep your eyes open.
“Yn. Yn, please. Don’t close your eyes, okay? Look at me, Sunshine. Look at me.” Haknyeon begs, and you blink slowly. He bites his bottom lip harshly, trying to focus so that he can teleport the two of you to the hospital, but his heart stops when you suddenly reach up and rest your hand on his cheek.
“Yn?”
You stare up into his eyes for a moment in silence, feeling yourself get lost in those deep brown orbs that hold so much love and hope whenever he looks at you. A heartbreaking smile forms on your face, focusing on his embrace that brings you so much warmth.
“We’re home.” You say softly, and before Haknyeon can utter another word, your hand falls limp. He’s stunned into silence when your eyes shut, and he blinks when he no longer sees the rise and fall to your chest.
“Y-Yn. Yn. Yn, wake up.” Haknyeon mutters, gently shaking you to try and get you to open your eyes.
You’re just sleeping. You’re going to wake up just like you always do whenever I go to wake you in the mornings. It’s just a deep sleep. He repeatedly tells himself, tears blurring his vision as more time passes and you still don’t awake.
“S-Sunshine? Please, I’m begging you to open your eyes.” Haknyeon urges, refusing to accept the truth that’s laid out before him. That he failed. He broke his promise.
He didn’t protect you.
Haknyeon slowly rests his ear over your chest, clutching onto you tightly when the familiar sound of your heart doesn’t softly beat against his ear. He shuts his eyes, a sob finally escaping him as he shows his weakness to the world. All of his senses are honed in on you, focusing on the fact that you’re still warm as he cries and screams in despair.
Lifting his head up, Haknyeon lets out a blood curdling sob that makes the officers flinch backwards. The light cloudy sky above them turns dark, the sound of thunder filling the air as heavy rain begins to descend from the sky and fall onto the city. They all quickly begin to head into their vehicles and drive away due to the hard rain pelting them, leaving Eclipse alone in the middle of Seoul.
But the superhero continues to hold you, darkness finally consuming him whole now that he’s lost the only ray of light that brought him hope.
present time
Haknyeon stands before your locker, staring at the photo that displays your bright smile that once brought him so much warmth.
Now he’s just filled with regret.
Letting out a breath, the villain reaches out and presses a single white orchid against the glass. He places his hand back into his pocket, “I finally got the man that killed you three years ago.”
Haknyeon looks down at the floor, the grief in his chest still so prominent even after all these years. He shuts his eyes, trying to fight back the memory of the last smile you had shown him that fateful day.
“We’re home.”
Biting his bottom lip, Haknyeon’s eyes slowly trail back up until they land on your photo again. He remembers when this picture was taken. You, Hyunjun, and Haknyeon practically sprinted to the park when it was sunset so that Hyunjun could have photos to post for Instagram.
“Hyunjun! I’ve taken like... ten million photos!” You exclaim with a frown, and Haknyeon laughs from beside you when he sees the offended look on his best friend’s face. “Take more!”
Rolling your eyes playfully, you take more photos of the beauty without another noise of complaint. Haknyeon stands to the side, calling out poses and shouts of encouragement that make you and Hyunjun laugh.
“Hyunjun should be a model instead of a surgeon.” You mutter, and Haknyeon nods his head in agreement. He turns to look at you to respond, only to pause when he lays eyes on the art before him.
The sky is painted in different pinks and purples above you, casting a glow over your features as you concentrate on taking photos for the black haired beauty. A smile forms on your face when Hyunjun lets out a shriek due to a bug, and Haknyeon slowly raises his phone up towards you.
“Yn!” You turn your head towards the brunette, a bright smile on your face right as he takes the photo. Your eyes widen slightly when you hear the sound of a camera shutter go off, and you lower the phone in your hands. “Did you just take a photo of me?”
“Yeah.” He answers with a grin, and you raise an eyebrow at him. “Why?”
Haknyeon just smiles fondly at you, and with a shrug of his shoulders he replies,
“You looked pretty, Sunshine.”
Sucking in a shaky breath at the vivid memory, he tentatively reaches up to gently rest his hand against the glass in hopes to feel closer to you. But he stops, remembering exactly who he’s become as he stares into your eyes that held so much life to them.
A villain. He’s no longer the man you knew when you were still alive. Haknyeon hasn’t even seen Hyunjun since you passed, because if he couldn’t even protect you, how could he protect Hyunjun?
He lets out a breath, realizing that his mother was right. It’s safer for him to be alone.
And so, his hand slowly falls back down to his side, and he takes a step back from your locker. Haknyeon blinks back the tears that flood his eyes the longer he stares at your smiling face, and he quickly wipes away the tear that manages to escape his left eye. He swallows the lump in his throat and gives you one last heartbreaking smile, before turning and walking away.
But he stops right as he’s about to pass the threshold, glancing back at you to softly mutter,
“I was never as good as you thought I was.”

Best Friend Haknyeon x Fem Reader
note: i wrote this way back in November and the dialogues happens to be italicised so yeah. Also just a reminder that this is a work of fiction so don't take anything written in here seriously. Enjoy the read!
Tumblr media
You were at the gymnasium with all the other students. Apparently, the school’s dance team won the grand prize in one of the prestigious dance competitions in the country. They were asked to perform in front of the school as a celebration.
You knew how hard working the boys were after seeing them getting off from practice later than usual a few months ago. You happened to be going home late as well and saw lights in the gym almost everyday. For some unknown reason, you had to stay back and notice it.
“Hey, look!” a classmate tugged on your sleeves. You saw eleven boys stepped in and stood in formation at the centre of the court. Cheers could be heard throughout the area which made you wince.
Loud screams weren’t to your liking especially on occasions like this. Comments were thrown left and right at the boys who were showcasing their flawless footwork and dance routine. You were watching as well but you didn’t bother to throw out comments that surely won’t be heard by any of them on the court.
“Did you see how he flipped over his member like that? Amazing!” That was for Eric Sohn. He was in your Year, friendly but awkward. Basically a nice kid.
“Oh my god, Ji Changmin really is different when he performs!” You sighed out loud knowing that the popular ones of the group have always been getting the attention unlike a certain someone. The one that caught your eyes. It wasn’t love at first sight or anything but he didn’t get as much reaction as the other boys. You somehow secretly like that fact and admired him from afar.
Someone from your back tapped your shoulder and you had to control every bit of yourself to not give a bitchy look at them. “Yes?” you questioned, politely as possible.
“Aren’t you friends with Eric? Can I get his number from you?” The audacity of this random girl, you thought with a confused face. You had to deny it before more girls questioned your relationship with them.
We’re talking about eleven boys who have major fan clubs around the school and neighbouring towns. “No, I’m not close with Eric. I don’t have his number, sorry.” You quickly turned your head to the front and continued watching the performance.
During lunch, you were already seated with your friends and eating as usual. You weren’t paying attention to their conversation and were busily searching for that one person. Ju Haknyeon.
When you saw him happily running to the tray section, a chuckle left your lips. “What’s so funny?” “Oh nothing...” you thought none of them would notice but it’s not like they know who you were looking at. Your eyes followed his every move as he sat happily with his friends.
You were leaving back to class with your friends and had to pass by his table. Noticing how he eats without talking to the others, made you smile. He’s just eating but you felt as if he did something extraordinary.
Just as you were leaving the doors, fingers wrapped around your wrist softly. You were startled and almost elbowed them in the face when they quickly duck away. Your eyes widened but you obviously had to remain cool, to not make your friends aware of this secret of yours.
“Sorry for that,” He laughed and let go of his grip which you wished he did not. “Are you free later? We have to get stuff together, remember?” So many thoughts and Ju Haknyeon was right in front of you waiting for an answer. “I guess….I’m free.” You gave a smile and he nodded in assurance.
“See you at home then.” He patted your shoulder and ran back to his friends who were watching from a distance but you weren’t aware as something else was occupying your mind.
You walked back to your friends who had looks you knew so well. Smirks and crossed arms, you knew it was coming. “Who was that?” “My best friend.” you answered flatly and told them to walk faster, ignoring their further questions.
Back at home, after putting your bag at home, you waited at the elevator downstairs for Haknyeon. You were just going to get groceries together and that’s it. This was such a normal thing to do but somehow today felt different.
At the ‘ding’ sound of the elevator, your head turned and locked eyes with him who was coming out. “Let’s go”, you nodded at his words and followed behind him.
You find it funny how your mothers made you do the shopping when Haknyeon only knows how to eat and you are always hungry. Cooking is another person’s speciality but he was not included in this errand.
Haknyeon was pushing the cart as you walked beside him, skimming through the list your mother made. There were quite a lot of ingredients on it and you were about to lose it.
There were poultry, vegetables that you don’t even recall knowing and somehow soda was in the list as well. After texting back with your mother for confirmation about the list, you made the payments. There were four full bags in total.
“Can we buy ice cream before going home?” You asked him. “I don’t think we can, our hands are full.” He laughed and promised to get you some after dinner or tomorrow to which you agreed happily.
“Congratulations on the win, Hak. You guys pulled it off as always.” you didn’t know why it felt so hard to say things like this when it’s just him, your best friend and neighbour for god knows how long. “That came out of nowhere. But thanks.” He turned to you and gave that smile you always adored.
As you walked to the lobby, a loud voice greeted both of you. “Did you guys go out without me again?” The newcomer pouted and acted as if he was genuinely upset. You rolled your eyes at him and moved towards the elevator. “It’s for your birthday, weirdo. We couldn’t ask you to join. That will be weird.” Haknyeon reasoned and walked to where you were.
“I see, so this was supposed to be a surprise right? Pretend I wasn’t here.”
“How could we pretend when the first thing we heard was your loud voice, Wooyoung.” You said to him with a flat look. Jung Wooyoung, the one who can cook in the trio. You were glad he didn’t go to your school because being neighbours with him was enough. If Haknyeon was loud, Wooyoung would be obnoxiously loud.
“Are you coming with us?” You shouted from inside. Wooyoung’s head peeked at the opening, “No, I’m waiting for some people. You guys better make everything perfect.” He playfully winked before going off.
Once the door closed, you sighed loudly to which Haknyeon laughed. “He’s so tiring to deal with...and we have to cook for his birthday! Why?” He didn’t react and you noticed something was off, out of a sudden. Unknowingly to you, he was contemplating on whether to tell you about that one thing that had been nagging in his head for a while.
The familiar ‘ding’ brought both of you back to the present. “Hey, after dinner I have something I want to ask you. Make sure to stick around, okay?” He said when both of you left for your houses.
“Hak, is everything okay?” Your brows raised as both of you stopped in front of your respective houses. For the first time, you saw how nervous he was. Like, it wasn’t the competition coming soon nervous, it’s more like I have something I want to tell you but I cannot, kind of nervous . “Yeah, everything’s good. See you then.” You watched how he literally ran inside and slammed the door.
Tumblr media
You were walking to school with thoughts filled from last night’s event. Out of the blue, he invited you to a party, well he said it was Eric but why? Before you could get deeper in thoughts, someone pushed your shoulder. “Wooyung, go away.”
“Aw come one, we’re going the same way anyway. Where’s your beloved Hak?” he teased and you instinctively pushed him away. “We never walk to school together.” you heard him scoffed as if it was the most illogical thing ever, considering how close you guys were.
“So, about last night...” he started and you covered your ears and walked faster to which he loudly laughed and ran after you. “He confessed, didn't he?” you narrowed your brows at him and shook your head.
“He invited me to Eric’s party. Don’t know what for and why but I said okay. Dumb I know.” There was a short silence before he said, “He probably feels awkward with the others so maybe that’s why. Well, have fun without me again!” He half shouted and waved before leaving you by yourself again. For once you took seriously what Wooyoung said.
During lunch, you went to find Eric at his classroom and naturally he wasn’t there. You went back to the cafeteria and saw his group of friends and somehow Haknyeon wasn’t there as well. “I hate to do this but I have to ask Eric” you mumbled to yourself before walking straight to the table. “Sorry...but where is Eric?” you didn’t know who to look at so your eyes landed on Jacob who gave a smile. “He’s in the courtyard.” you turned to the voice and saw it was Younghoon. You thanked him before dashing your way to where Eric was.
Running wasn’t your thing and once you spotted Eric, you shouted, earning some stares from the students. He waved and you told him to come closer since you were out of breath. “Did you run here?” he chuckled. You glared at him and he took it to stop teasing you. “I need to ask why you invited me to your party?” “Actually I told Haknyeon he could invite anyone since everyone has partners. So he invited you huh? Interesting…” There’s too much information, partners? Is everyone in the group dating? “Well, see you Saturday then. You better come as a payback for what you did to me.” He crossed his arms and playfully glared at you. Why is Eric slowly looking like Wooyung to you? Aside from that, you’re wondering what they know about Haknyeon that you don’t?
“What did I do to you? We barely talk except in French class.”
“Weren’t you the one that gave my number to those fangirls in the school’s chatroom?”
“That was most probably Sunwoo. I have no time to do that ” you retorted back and saw how Eric was mumbling something to himself, most probably how to get back at Sunwoo. You soon realised how things were getting out of hand and saying no to Haknyeon’s invitation was never on your list. How could you say no to him?
Tumblr media
The fact that your parents were fine about you hanging out with eleven boys baffled you. You specifically told them who they were and all your mother said was “Hak will be there right? Just behave and don’t cause him trouble.” You at least expect them to lecture you on the last minute notice but they told you to have fun and be back before midnight.
The both of you arrived at what looks like a bowling alley. “So this is where the party’s at?” You turned to Haknyeon and he nodded unsurely. “Should we head inside?” You seemed to be more talkative then he was but you brushed whatever thought you had. To your surprise, everyone was already there and they were very loud, not caring how there were other people besides them.
As usual, it would be Eric who noticed you before everyone else. 10 pairs of eyes watching you and Haknyeon was very unsettling, considering this was your first time hanging out with them. The fangirls would kill you if they knew about today.
“You came! I thought you wouldn’t” Eric smirked at you and you had to control yourself from smacking him. Eric introduced you to the others and you just gave out a ‘hi’ and were glued to Haknyeon at all times. Eric did say everyone has a partner so where are they or did he mean something else?
“So since there’s 12 of us, everyone, pick your partners!” Eric shouted happily and the looks on the other boys were priceless. There were groans everywhere and some were happily teaming up.“I thought it’s going to be team versus?” “I hate this already” you heard them bickered but not once said a word since you’ll be with Haknyeon.
Haknyeon held you by the shoulder and smiled at the others who grimaced at his actions. “It’s unfair that he gets the girl,” Sunwoo pointed at you and you just smiled at him. “And why do I have to partner up with Eric, I’d rather die.” Sunwoo at this point was being unnecessarily dramatic.
The game went on longer than usual and no one bothered checking the time. You and Haknyeon weren't leading but your scores were high. The others took this too seriously that Chanhee almost hit Younghoon with the bowling ball, Kevin trying to cheat but Jacob stopped him and said “it’s no fun” to which he replied back “you’re no fun, Jacob.”
As you were checking your phone, someone rested their head on your shoulder. “Are you tired?” you asked, heart rate increased for sure. “More like hungry, when is this going to end?” Haknyeon whined and hugged his stomach. “Should we order pizza?” He shot up from his seat and brought you further from the others. “Shouldn’t we ask what they want?” “No, it's fine. Please order some sides too, I could eat anything at this point.” You laughed and nodded at his words. “I’ll pay half and don’t think about arguing with me.” He patted your head as you tried to busy yourself with the menu on your phone.
Really, what the heck is going on with Ju Haknyeon? He’s never been like this, it started when we went to buy groceries and he’s been kind of affectionate? The both of you went back to the others after ordering and none of them said anything but you noticed Jaehyun raised a brow at you with a smirk and Kevin looking at you with a face you don’t want to explain. Somewhere in your head, you wished Wooyoung was here with you.
After about 20 minutes or so, everyone was exhausted and it was just in time for the food to arrive. You told Haknyeon that you’ll be picking up the orders outside but he told you to stay and he’ll go instead. “You ordered food! Why didn’t you say anything? Did you pay already?” You said yes to Sangyeon and he sighed, making you feel slightly guilty. “Ignore him, he’s just embarrassed you treat us to food.” Kevin said. “I’ll go take the food with Haknyeon!” Changmin exclaimed and pulled Eric along with him.
The atmosphere was awkward since you’re not close to any of the older boys. Sunwoo left for the toilet and you were stuck with them smirking at you. What the hell is going on? you thought panicking.
“You like Haknyeon, right?” Jaehyun said out of nowhere. “Don’t deny it, Eric told us.” Chanhee gave a flat smile. “Don’t worry, the feeling’s mutual” Kevin winked at you. “Guys, what are you doing? She shouldn’t know it this way.” Jacob tried to stop them from saying more. You were trying to process their words, you should have never trusted Eric with anything after this and what on earth did Kevin say? The feeling is mutual? What were you supposed to say, confess to his friends when the person involved is not even here?
“Ignore them, you don’t need to answer. I’m sorry for this.” Jacob said apologetically and you shook your head with a small smile. You were starting to feel uncomfortable but felt a little relieved when you heard Changmin announce that the food had arrived. It’s about time they showed up, this feeling was beyond embarrassment as you kept your head low.
Hakyeon passed a slice of pizza to you and noticed you looking down. “Are you okay? Did you want something else?” He asked. You gulped a lump in your throat and looked up to him.
“I like you, Hak...that’s all.” you took the pizza from him as all eyes widened and you felt like running away or being one with the floor. Acting as if nothing happened was not easy.
“I like you too.” You heard him whisper before continuing to bite on his pizza. You never thought that you'd confess right in front of his friends at a bowling alley like this. It just happened and he said it back
“Actually she knew about it before you came back,” Juyeon suddenly said and Chanhee smacked him on the back. “What? At least they confessed to each other right, Congratulations.” Juyeon innocently grinned at you.
“Why are you congratulating them, they’re not getting married”
“Shut up Sunwoo, just eat quietly.”
“And you Eric, I’m going to make your life hell after this. They told me something I told you not to tell anyone!”
You were about to launch at him when Haknyeon stopped you and said, “We’ll make his life hell together. How’s that sound?”
“Better”

[ birds in the heavens ] Lying on a field filled with smoke and ash, you drag in a long breath.
So this is what it’s come to.
You cough, pain shooting through your chest as the metallic tang of blood fills your mouth. Just a few years ago, you never would have imagined this – a battlefield death, so far from home, a fall from grace…
No, not grace. Not you. He was grace. He was everything beautiful in this war-torn world, sunlight on the grass, stars in the sky, flowers in the meadow beyond the village, blue and red and pink and white woven in a wreath that you placed on his head with trembling fingers and a smile only he could put on your face.
Where was grace but in the curve of his lips and the scrunch of his eyes as he laughed? Where was grace but in the rough brush of his fingers to your smooth skin, worlds apart united for brief, beautiful moments in the touch of your hands together? There was a time when you thought you were grace, fine clothes and elegant dances and lilted words, but he was grace, truly, sunbeams personified, tanned hands rough from work deftly twisting grass together into a makeshift ring that fit perfectly on your fourth finger, a crude proposal in the eyes of anyone in your circle but so beautiful in your eyes, accompanied by a voice of sugar and honey, birdsong whispering between the blades of shifting grass, promises of a future where the warmth of his touch would never leave your skin.
What was the song he sang? Something about valleys and trains, roses and violets and red and blue…
A memory of his voice washes through your mind, a taste of honey sweet against the bitter ash coating your tongue.
Down in the valley, valley so low,
Late in the evening, hear the train blow.
The train, love, hear the train blow,
Late in the evening, hear the train blow.
He used to say that he’d wait to hear the train whistle during the months he knew you’d be there. He said it took everything in him not to run to the station and blow both of your covers, he wanted to see you so much.
What wouldn’t you give to see him now?
Go build me a mansion, build it so high,
So I can see my true love go by.
See him go by, love, see him go by,
So I can see my true love go by.
A smile stains your trembling lips. Where the first verse was his, this one was yours. Only you could speak of mansions and true love and not be entirely joking – you used to promise him you’d build yourselves a house someday, a house where you could live together in secret peace, away from the prying eyes of your family and their spies.
Go write me a letter, send it by mail,
Bake it and stamp it to the capital jail.
Capital jail, love, to the capital jail,
Bake it and stamp it to the capital jail.
A sob racks your body, ash settling in your throat and mixing with the blood bubbling on your tongue. How were you two to know that the third verse he sang so teasingly, eyes squinting with laughter as he swore to you with honey-sweet seriousness that he’d love you to the end, would become truth? That he’d be imprisoned in that very jail and later killed, with you sent to the battlefield to die? You couldn’t even send letters, like in the song.
There’s a fourth verse to the song, a verse you’d sing together, but the sun burns overhead and seals your lips shut. Its rays sear into your eyes, scorching your heart with the guilt, the knowledge that you have no right to sing or even remember the verse, and it hurts, but you can’t look away. Won’t look away. It’s the sun, what he was, pure warmth and light made whole into one human being whom you were lucky enough to love – how could you let that go?
How could you let him go?
Tears spring into your eyes. They fall slowly, cutting tracks through the grime on your face. One hand struggles to rise, to wipe them away, but you can’t. You can’t. The tears… they’re him. What you have left of him. Tears, tears only, and the dried grass tied around your finger…
Your face burns under the sun. It’s bright, so bright, just like him.
You were so bright, love. The hand that tried to wipe the tears now aches to reach up to the sky, fingers enclosing around a ray of light in a futile effort to bring it to your lips, to kiss him one last time before the darkness blurring your vision takes you completely. Bright as the sun. I could never close my eyes to you.
Even if it burned.
An image appears in the sun, his face contorted in pain and agony as they dragged him to the center of the square. Two guards held you back as you screamed. Four more stood in front of him, guns raised.
The sun blazed that day, just like his eyes as they stared into yours with all the conviction of a man who knew he had done nothing wrong, the bravery of a boy who had been taught to love and only love.
Even when the one he loved could do nothing to save him.
The same sun flares overhead, witness to your love, witness to his death, and now, soon, a witness to yours. It shines unflinchingly, fierce, unforgiving – you couldn’t save him. You couldn’t.
I couldn’t. A sob rips through your bleeding body. Pain tears into every wound in your skin, but it can’t compare to the ache in your chest, the knowledge of a death you couldn’t prevent. I’m sorry. I couldn’t.
I failed.
The sun feels colder now, warm rays chilled under your confession of failure. It hurts to stare, to keep your eyes open even as cold fire sears anger into your wounds, but it’s penance. Punishment. Just like when they stripped your title and shoved you into war, a nameless foot soldier to be buried under a heap of other nameless bodies, retribution for loving a boy they believed to be beneath your station.
Beneath my station. If you could, you’d snort. If only they could see that the farmer boy they scorned to death was so much more than all of them. Than all of you.
Sunlight personified, sparkling in a blue sky without a cloud.
You blink. There are clouds now, of gray smoke from firing guns stained red from the screaming bodies falling all around you. But the sun cuts through it all to shine on you, cold, unforgiving in the knowledge that you failed to protect the boy who loved you to the end, even as bullets ripped into his body the way they now have ripped into yours.
I failed.
I’m sorry.
I failed.
Blood trickles down your face. Your eyes remain open, focused on the sun. They burn, but it’s nothing compared to the punishment you deserve for not keeping him alive the way you promised yourself you would.
I couldn’t. Another sob wracks your bloodied chest. Everything hurts. I couldn’t.
But then –
A face you never thought you’d see again leans over your ruined body, bright, visible, even as darkness further coats your eyes.
The sunlight grows a little warmer.
Haknyeon?
You couldn’t, love. A hand reaches out, caresses your bloody cheek with a softness of touch that almost makes you close your eyes. You couldn’t. And that’s okay.
Tears fill your eyes afresh. No, it isn’t, you try to argue with the vision that can’t be real but that feels so real, so frighteningly warm in this one moment. I couldn’t save you. You should’ve lived.
You couldn’t, Haknyeon repeats, eyes sparkling. He looks so healthy, so whole – no bullets in his chest, no blood running down his face. Your heart aches. It’s okay. Please believe me, love. It’s okay.
The softness in his voice makes you want to believe it, makes you want to fall into his honeyed words that flow, smooth, through your ears, soothing the pain throbbing all over your body. I don’t deserve your forgiveness, you try to argue through cracked and bloody lips that cannot speak. Don’t give it to me. I don’t deserve it.
His touch feels so real against your skin. It’s a good thing I’m not here to forgive you, then, he laughs, for there was never anything to forgive.
Blood bursts from your lips as ash tickles your nose and you cough again, this time curling into his phantom touch. Then why are you here, if not to condemn me?
A question remains in the air, unsung, unsaid, but heavy as the clouds of smoke settling on the field.
Surely you can’t still love me?
He shines, warm, light, brighter than the sun overhead. You hear the answer to your question in his next words even if he doesn’t say it and it hurts, hurts so much – you don’t deserve it, you don’t deserve any of the love he still holds for you –
Close your eyes, love, Haknyeon whispers. Close your eyes. I’ll take the pain away.
Panic rises in your chest. You can’t. You can’t close your eyes, can’t lose sight of him or the burning sun, penance for your crime, the last sight of your lover that you will take as your soul slips away – you can’t let this gift go, this last vision – it’s all you have left of him besides the tears and the grass ring wrapped around your finger –
Close your eyes, love. His smile trembles, but his palm remains steady against your cheek. Close your eyes, and I promise you will still see me.
You blink unsteadily against the black spots dotting his face and the sunlight. Truly?
Truly.
The sun dances between the spots in your vision. To close your eyes and lose sight of the sky and of him, or to keep them open and take the image of him, smiling to your grave?
But it hurts so much to keep them open. Burns. And he said he’d still be there even if you closed your eyes against the burn, against the sun…
Maybe you will still feel his warmth, even if you give in to the darkness.
Slowly, slowly, your eyes flutter shut. Black washes across your vision and you almost panic – you can’t see him, he said you’d see him but you can’t and now you don’t have the energy to open your eyes once more – but then warmth settles on your forehead and, oh –
It’s him. His lips, kissing your grimy, bloody skin. And you can still see him, see his smile as he comes closer to cup your cheek with his hand once more, his palm warmer than the sun ever was.
It’s okay, Haknyeon whispers, words ghosting across your skin. I’ll take the pain away. Remember our song?
It hurts so much to breathe a few words from your lips, but for him, you manage. Yes, I do.
Sing with me.
And somehow, you know that if he were granted a last request at the end of his life, it would have been this. For you to sing with him one more time.
Who are you to deny him the last wish he never had?
Your lips begin to move, ever so slightly.
Down in the valley, valley so low,
Late in the evening, hear the train blow.
The train, love, hear the train blow,
Late in the evening, hear the train blow.
His song buoys you on, lifting words from your throat even as the pain begins to blur, to fade, taking your voice with it.
Go build me a mansion, build it so high,
So I can see my true love go by.
See him go by, love, see him go by,
So I can see my true love go by.
You falter at the next verse, unshed tears choking your words, but he continues, fingers still stroking your cheek as his song filters through your ears, soft, sweet.
Go write me a letter, send it by mail,
Bake it and stamp it to the capital jail.
Capital jail, love, to the capital jail,
Bake it and stamp it to the capital jail.
Bitter grief wells in your throat, mixing with the blood. If you couldn’t sing the last verse, there’s no way you can do the fourth. You can’t. You don’t deserve it. You don’t deserve to sing the verse that you always sang together, soft under the sun in a meadow of flowers, holding each other close as you whispered the words into each other’s ears. You don’t deserve to say those words to him, I love you, because even when he loved you to the end, your love wasn’t enough to keep him alive.
Come, love. A hand takes yours, toys with the dried grass tied around your finger. Sing with me. Please.
I don’t deserve it.
Yes, you do. He kisses your forehead again, soft as a flower petal against your skin. You still love me, and I still love you. Nothing has changed.
But –
Nothing has changed, he murmurs. Nothing has changed.
Tears no longer spill from your eyes, but if you had the energy, you’d let them fall. Okay, you whisper. Okay.
Thank you.
You struggle to move your lips as the pain fades, disappearing into the touch of his skin against yours. But his voice stays strong, warm, golden as the sunlight still washing over your skin.
Roses are red, love, he sings. Violets are blue. Birds in the heavens know I love you.
A last trembling smile spreads small across your face, lyrics lingering on your lips.
Know I love you, oh, know I love you…
His arms wrap warm around your shoulders, warmer than sunlight, and the last words whisper soft into your ear as the world finally slips away.
Birds in the heavens know I love you.

Sun in the rain
Tumblr media
Pairing: crush!sunwoo x gn!reader
AU/Genre: Highschool!au, friends-to-lovers!au, fluff
Warnings: none :]
Word count: 1.5k
Summary: is it possible for one of the most stressful days to turn into the one of the most special? With the help of your best friend maybe
a/n: I really didn’t know where this story was going but I tried to make it work :) I’m so sorry if there are any spelling errors.
Tumblr media
It was a Wednesday morning and you had just woken up from the awful sound of your neighbor's lawnmower.
Looking over, 9:48 displayed on your clock making you gasp in disbelief. You only had 12 minutes to get ready for school. Practically launching yourself off your bed, you ran to the bathroom and got ready for your day.
As you were heading out the door, you grabbed a piece of toast your mom made and booked it out with only 2 - 4 minutes to get to school.
Once you stepped through the school gates, the bell rang making you just in time. You spotted your best friend Sunwoo approaching you as you tried to your breath from all that running.
“Did you see my text this morning? Apparently not hm?” he laughed and brushed some of your hair strands away from your face.
Your face tinted a soft rose colour from his sudden touch. You patted your pockets to find your phone but soon realized you forgot it back at home. “Great, I forgot my phone at home” you said rolling your eyes in annoyance.
“Dummy” Sunwoo whispered under his breath and let out a slight chuckle as you two began walking to your class.
time skip eHE :]
The afternoon came around before you knew it and the school day had ended. Of course with your luck, it was raining on the day you didn’t have your umbrella. You decided to wait by the entrance of the school to see if the rain would stop but as the second grew it only fell worse.
You let out a groan because you not only didn’t bring an umbrella, you also were only in a thin sweater. You didn’t have time to check the weather this morning and assumed it would be a sunny day, it turned out to be the complete opposite. Everyone including Sunwoo had already gone home so you couldn’t ask to share an umbrella either.
Today was already such a mess you thought to yourself so, you decided to just pick up your bag and start sprinting back home. The puddles of water splashed all over your clothes as your feet ran faster than ever. By the time you got home, you were completely soaked. Not an inch of your clothes was dry.
You searched through your bag trying to find your keys but to your total surprise, they were nowhere to be found. You must’ve left them on your bed this morning and your mom had locked the door when she went to work. You couldn’t even call her since your phone was locked inside.
At this point, you were at your peak and completely broke down onto the wet ground. Tears ran down your cheeks like the rain. You were stuck outside your house, completely soaked, on a chilly day, just waiting to catch a cold.
After a few moments of crying passed, you remembered Sunwoo lives a few minutes from your house and could maybe ask to stay for a bit. There was a slight hesitation in you, feeling shy about showing up at his house but it was either that or to catch a cold. So, you lifted yourself off of the ground and again, ran through the rain towards his house.
You soon reached his house and knocked on the door, seconds passed by until it finally opened. Sunwoo’s heart ached after seeing you in this state. You let out a sob and broke down in front of him.
“What in the world happened?” He said taking you inside. He brought you a towel attempting to dry your clothes and hair. All you could do was just sob more. “Wait nono don’t cry, I- wha-“ he panicked not knowing what to do.
Sunwoo quickly ran somewhere and came back, handing you a hoodie. “Here, change into some dry clothes before you catch a cold, follow me”, he shyly said and grabbed your hand leading u into his bedroom-bathroom.
“You can change in there, I’ll be here” he said laying down on his bed. You nodded and stepped into the bathroom. You tried to calm down not wanting to annoy him with your sobbing and changed into his hoodie.
Looking in the mirror, you giggled at yourself because his hoodie looked huge on you considering he was so much taller. The scent on the hoodie was also pretty soothing, it had a soft smell of laundry detergent.
Your cheeks burned a bright red because you’ve never really worn any of his clothes before. Just the thought of it brought butterflies to your stomach.
You walked out of the bathroom with your soaked clothes in hand and spotted Sunwoo who was still laying on his bed. He looked up and made eye contact with you. He could’ve sworn his heart skipped a beat after seeing how small you looked in his hoodie.
“Y-you alright now?” he asked. “Yeah, I’m sorry I caused a ruckus” you replied back still somewhat sniffling. “It’s fine, you can come sit here if you want, oh and what even happened? You came to my door looking like a wet dog” Sunwoo said, patting his bed. You chuckled and walked over hesitantly placing down your wet clothes on a nearby table.
You sat down next to him leaving a small gap between you two and took a deep breath. “Well starting off with this morning, I woke up late and had to rush out making me forget my keys and phone. I didn’t bring an umbrella with me so I got soaked running home but I couldn’t even go inside cause my keys were locked inside. I couldn’t call my mom either, today’s just a mess”  you said letting out a sigh.
You were still feeling quite cold from your wet hair and rain so you started to rub your hands together in an attempt to warm up. Sunwoo saw how cold you were and decided to take your hands into his.
“You still cold?” he asked as you nodded feeling butterflies fly around in your stomach once again. “Come closer, you’ll warm up faster” Sunwoo suggested, opening his arms for you to snuggle closer.
Usually, he wasn’t this bold but in the moment he just had a boost of confidence and went for it. You agreed and came closer to him as his arms wrapped around you causing your face to flush red.
Sunwoo realized what he’d just done and started to get nervous again. As you rested your head onto his chest, you could hear his heart pounding like crazy. Your eyes widened and you looked back up at him.
“Sun you okay? Why’s your heart beating so fast?” You asked feeling concerned even though yours was also beating as fast.
“I- uhm.. I’m nervous?” He mumbled quietly. The little nickname you gave him always created a twisted feeling in his stomach.
You looked at him and tilted your head in confusion. “See..uhm I don’t know if-...never mind”  he sighed trying to turn his gaze away from you because it only made him more nervous.
“No, tell me” you exclaimed grabbing his cheeks and turning his face to look at you. Sunwoo’s eyes widened at the sudden action as you both realized how close you were.
Now starring blankly into each other’s eyes, it was so silent and his stare just drove you crazy. You couldn’t even think straight in the moment.
He was craving to just collapse his onto yours as the second passed by.
“C-can I kiss you?” you quietly asked still not thinking properly. Without a second delay, Sunwoo crashed his lips into yours. You froze in shock but slowly melted into the kiss. His lips were soft as ever and adding to that, they’re plump so it only made it better.
This was a new feeling you never thought you’d ever feel, it just was so fulfilling. You pulled away feeling breathless and looked into his round boba-like eyes. Your face turned a bright rosy colour causing him to let out an adorable giggle.
“I never knew you were such a good kisser y/n”, “beginners luck I guess” you replied smiling. He let out a small gasp before saying, “it’s your first time too?!” You nodded back smiling even bigger because he looked like an excited raccoon.
Sunwoo then cupped your cheeks with his hands and squished them. “You’re so cute when your face is red like this” he teased so you slapped his hands away and got up.
“Where do you think you’re going princess/prince? You can’t go home, remember?” He said pulling your wrist allowing you to fall straight onto him.
“Princess/prince?!” you slightly yelled feeling your face burn up again for the thousandth time today as you slapped his chest. A smirk grew on his face knowing how shy that name made you feel. “Don’t act like you don’t like that name” he teased making you roll your eyes.
“I’m just joking..the thing I wanted to tell you was that I like you” he admitted snaking his arms around your waist. “I figured, you dummy...I like you too” you replied giggling at how cute he sounded. “I always have”.
Sunwoo always knew how to comfort you the best, I guess you could call him your sun in the rain.

A psychopath? Choi Chanhee? You couldn’t believe that when you first met him, a scared man in an alleyway. You tried to just offer him some help before turning him in, but feelings got in the way of that plan and, before you knew it, you were cuffed to a guy you had fallen in love with.

You had heard the gunshot before you saw him.
You always went on patrol in the area so hearing such things wasn’t new to you, but the noise always made a shiver go down your spine.
Cause with the sound of a gun always came death or injuries.
Your heart pounded against your chest as you rushed towards where you heard the deafening sound, the light of the moon shining down against your badge.
Sometimes you had wondered why you even decided to take night shifts, quickly finding out that the most brutal of crimes took place when the sun was set.
Your fingers tightened around your gun when you rounded the corner into an alleyway, the walls covered in moss and old graffiti.
There you saw Choi Chanhee.
Quickly, you had noticed that he was bleeding heavily and you rushed over, putting your gun back in your pocket and pressing down on the wound on his leg.
“Hey! What the fu-“, you put a little more pressure onto the wound when the bleeding didn’t stop and slowly it did, blood now covering your hands. The man could only let out a groan from the pain.
“What the hell did you do to get shot?”, you mumbled and ripped off a piece of your sleeve to wrap around his thigh as he watched you curiously.
He stayed silent and you wondered why. You were a complete stranger even if you were a cop and you assumed he retaliate or say thank you, but he never did.
He didn’t until you noticed something to your right, a flash of a badge similar to your own.
There, laying eerily still, was another officer. One with a chest soaked with blood.
“Shit”, the word barely came out before a gun was pressed against your head.
“Turn slowly darling”, he ordered and you slowly turned your body to look at him.
What had once been such an innocent, and dare you say cute, face was now dark and corrupted. A smirk played on his lips as he watched a shiver go through your body in fear.
“Ah, I’ll take those~”, he cooed and took the handcuffs off of your belt. As he fiddled with it, the gun dropped slightly and you came to the conclusion that possibly getting shot in the shoulder was better than letting this psychopath get away.
You quickly grabbed the handcuffs and tried to cuff the man, gripping the wrist with the gun and pushing it away. A bullet pierced the wall behind you as the gun fell from his hand, landing with a clatter on the concrete.
You had managed to cuff his other wrist, but he grabbed your own and cuffed the other onto you.
Now, you were stuck together.
You reached for your gun but it was quickly knocked out of your hand, sliding across the concrete to beside the dead officer.
The criminal pushed against your chest and you were pinned on the ground, squirming and trying to push him off of you. You could tell he was in pain from the movement and you pressed your knee against his wound, causing him to cry out in pain.
“Stop! I’m not going to hurt you”, his words were lies and every logical part of you knew that. A bullet had barely missed your head moments ago, but his voice sounded so desperate.
“Then why in the hell did you shoot him?”, you gestured your chin up a little in direction of the officer.
“Because he tried to take me back”, you didn’t understand what he meant until your eyes trailed down to his chest, his shirt reading ‘Seoul Asylum’.
You had dealed with clinically insane criminals before but not one that was a murderer.
“Okay, calm down uh-“, you waited, hoping the man would tell you his name.
“Chanhee. Choi Chanhee”, you wondered why he trusted you enough to actually tell you, but you let that question slip your mind.
“Calm down Chanhee. You’re okay. No one is going to take you back”, the words came out of you softly and, much to Chanhee’s dismay, they calmed him. His breathing was slowly steadying.
You immediately realized he wasn’t really an evil person. He was just terrified.
You looked into his eyes and only saw emptiness. Thoughts flew through your mind about how much the man had been through.
“See? Nothing bad. Now, let me call-“, you were cut off by a rough shake of his head.
“No! They’ll take me back”, he whimpered and you couldn’t tell if it was a trick or not, but you truly felt sympathy for him.
“Chanhee, did the officer look like something scary?”, Chanhee looked at you and then back at the officer, a shiver of fear going up his spine before he nodded.
“What did he look like?”, Chanhee’s grip on your wrists loosened and you gently carassed his cheek to try to keep his attention on you.
“A monster. He looks so scary. Like a demon. Big horns and flames everywhere. He was going to take me back to hell”, of course he would associate the asylum with hell. You had seen the place.
Hell was an understatement.
“Okay, Chanhee listen. We can keep the cuff on and I’ll protect you, okay? I’ll take you to my place and help you. But, you can’t hurt anyone else, okay?”, you waited for his response. You got a slow nod and he got off of you cautiously, obviously still scared.
You weren’t really going to let him get away with what he did, but you supposed helping him a little wasn’t bad.
“Wait, do I look like a monster?”, you asked as you both got up together. Chanhee looked at you, glancing over your entire body and your face before he was sure and shook his head.
“No, you look like an angel”, you blinked a few times in surprise and imagined what he could be seeing, making you laugh at the thought.
“Okay, you have to grab the guns Chanhee. I won’t touch them, but we need them”, you knew those guns would be great DNA traces and you needed them with you and not some other criminal that walked by.
“Why?”, he asked innocently and you got the sudden urge to pinch his cheeks but you wouldn’t.
“Cause we wouldn’t want any other demons to find them and get us”, despite the seemingly horrifying words your tone was soft. Chanhee’s lip quivered and he nodded, quickly heading with you to pick up the guns.
He shoved them into his pocket after putting the safety on and stared at you. He seemed calm now, but you knew from past experience that that would only last momentarily.
“Let’s go to my house now, okay?”, Chanhee nodded and followed behind you as you started to walk, the cuff around your wrist digging into your bare skin whenever he lagged a little.
Once you were inside of your home, Chanhee looked around and he hummed. It was a beautiful sound and you wondered what he must sound like singing.
“Okay, lets take the cuffs off so you can shower”, Chanhee immediately shook his head in disagreement. His arms wrapped around your waist and his face went to settle in your neck, inhaling your scent. The gesture would’ve felt nice if it wasn’t for your cuffed arm being in a rather uncomfortable position.
“Chanhee... let go”, you had to remember your place and his. He was a criminal. Your job was literally to catch criminals.
Not shower with them.
The man surprisingly listened and let go of you, stepping back a little. He fiddled with the cuffs and then looked back at you, a glowing hue around you. You literally looked like an angel to him.
“B-but you’ll leave”, you shook your head immediately at his statement, trying your best to reassure him.
“I won’t leave. I promise”, you put your pinky out slowly, not wanting to startle him. He smiled slightly and linked his pinky with your’s.
Oh, his smile is cute.
You forced the thought out of your head.
Chanhee allowed you to get the key for the handcuffs and unlock them, the handcuffs falling to the floor.
“There. All better, see?”, you smiled as you rubbed your wrist. Chanhee smiled and rubbed his own.
Chanhee grabbed your hand and started walking towards the bathroom, sitting on the side of the tub before he looked at you.
“Can you check my wound?”, he asked you and you nodded, turning around because he’d definitely have to take his pants off for that.
“Take off your pants and drape a towel over yourself if you can”, you didn’t see it but Chanhee smirked.
He could’ve definitely taken them off himself and he knew that. He’s been through much worse injuries.
“I can’t. It hurts really bad”, he whined and you sighed before turning back around, a blush forming on your cheeks when you saw that Chanhee had already been working on unbuttoning his jeans.
He definitely noticed your blush as you started to unbutton the rest and pull them down his legs. You grimaced when you looked at his thigh. Luckily, the bullet had only grazed him, but you could tell the man had aggravated the wound because it looks more than inflamed. It looked enraged.
“Hold on”, you whisper and moved to get your first aid kit. Chanhee watched you as you grabbed the kit from your unorganized cabinet and came back. You kneeled in front of him and Chanhee had to do everything in his power not to grip your hair and force your head down onto his crotch.
“It might sting a little, but it won’t for long”, Chanhee nodded slowly, biting down on his bottom lip as you started to clean the wound. He groaned under his breath as the stinging started and you apologized gently.
“There. All better”, you realized he needed to shower.
“You really can’t take them off yourself?”, your arms crossed over your chest as the man shook his head. You shook your head as you started to help him out of his clothes, keeping your eyes only on his face as you did.
Chanhee admired your rosy cheeks as you finally got him free of his clothes.
Everything in his world was dark except you.
Little did you know that also included him.
Eventually, it had been months since you had become Chanhee’s light.
You couldn’t bring yourself to ever turn him in. Especially when he always made an effort to help you.
He was oddly sweet for a psychopath.
He stayed in your home. Where he believed he was safe. Sometimes he’d leave at night, but he always came back home to hold you after a rough day or to joke around with you.
The only thing odd was that the less demons he began to see, the more demonic he himself had become.
Fear no longer masked who he was and you slowly realized that because, while he was sweet to you, he began to despise everyone around you.
“Y/n...”, Chanhee whispered as he held you in his arms. He was usually this clingy when you got home from work. He hated your job.
Not because you were a cop and he was a criminal but because you were almost always in a dangerous situation.
And you always smelt like the criminals you caught or your coworkers who hugged you after a highly wanted criminal was put in prison.
Chanhee hated that more than anything else.
You quickly realized that much.
“Chanhee... I’m fine”, you giggled and wrapped your arms around him too, trying to reassure him that nothing was going to happen to you.
Tragically, you had let the man steal your heart.
You loved him.
A murderer. A psychopath. A criminal.
How fucking ironic.
“Why do you always come home smelling like someone else? It makes me jealous”, you watched as that signature pout came across Chanhee’s face.
If you didn’t know better then you’d say he wasn’t really angry.
But you knew he was fuming internally.
“Chanhee, we’ve been over this. I’m not your’s”, you spoke the brutal truth, feeling your heart throb a little when you saw him frown.
It was the truth.
Chanhee never confessed to loving you too.
“You are. I’ll prove it”, it was shocking to hear such determined words come out of his mouth. A wave of pure excitement went through your body.
“How?”, you mumbled and his finger immediately went to settle under your chin, tilting your head up to look at him.
“May I... touch you?”, the question was soft spoken with absolutely no hint of force, but it lingered in your mind for a couple of minutes.
Was this right?
Eventually, you decided you wanted him and nodded.
You could feel your heart beating even harder then before as Chanhee leaned his face closer to your’s.
That’s when you noticed a vast difference in him. His eyes were dark, shaded over with lust.
He looked at you with such a primal desire that a wave of arousal went through your body.
“I feel like these are needed. They’re kinda why we’re together now”, Chanhee chuckled and you admired him as he took the handcuffs off your belt. You had never heard him laugh or chuckle. It was an amazing sound.
The cuffs were locked around your wrists, keeping them together behind your back. You squirmed as you got used to the knowledge that you were no longer in control.
“I always hated this damn uniform”, Chanhee gripped the inside of your shirt and ripped it open, something you didn’t think he would be able to do.
“Chanhee! I have to buy a new one now”, you huffed but he just shushed you and buried his face in your neck, kissing and sucking on the sensitive skin.
You looked down as he started to trail his finger down your stomach, noticing a small cross tattooed onto his left pinky. It was a small detail you had never noticed before, but it seemed to make the action so much more unholy.
Chanhee fingers started to work on unbuttoning your pants as he trailed his kisses down your body to your chest, swirling his tongue around your nipples.
The sensation sent a shiver up your spine and a soft moan slipped past your lips. It was the first time Chanhee had heard such a sound from you and he perked his head up to look at you.
You could tell something had snapped inside of him.
A wall that kept the darkness from destroying his angel. It disappeared.
Now, all he wanted to do was destroy that beautiful innocence inside of you.
“Fuck, make that sound again”, he groaned and bit down on your breast, causing a louder moan to come out of you, “you sound so pretty”.
You weren’t sure if it was his words, the way his fingers were stroking your folds through your panties, or the bite but you were drenched.
“Get on your knees angel”, the pet name sounded like honey as it came out, his voice no longer cute but rough instead.
You obeyed. For once, you never questioned what you were told to do. It was like he had you under a spell.
Chanhee licked his lips at the sight of you, looking up at him with your hands bound behind your back and only your soaked panties left on.
He quickly worked on getting his pants and boxers off, the unnecessary fabric falling to the floor before he stepped towards you.
Your eyes widened at the sight in front of you. He was so attractive and big. You weren’t sure if you could take him.
“Open up”, he tapped his tip against your bottom lip and you whimpered before opening your mouth wide obediently.
“You really don’t have any shame, hmm? How cute”, he cooed as he slipped his cock into your mouth, waiting for you to get used to it before he was roughly gripping your hair and thrusting into your throat. His stomach was almost pressed against your face when he went all the way in.
You had never felt so used and needy in your life, rubbing your clothed clit against his shoe in hopes that the friction would satisfy you. Chanhee felt the movement and you would’ve called the sound he made a growl if it was any lower of a groan.
You hallowed your cheeks to suck him, hoping to bring him to his orgasm quickly, in desperate need of his touch. He twitched in your mouth before he came into it moments later, filling your mouth with his seed.
“Swallow”, he ordered as he pulled out of your mouth, moving his foot so you couldn’t rub against it anymore. You listened and swallowed the slightly bitter tasting seed, feeling it go down your throat and rub against the walls of it.
“Good girl”, Chanhee smiled and patted your head once he let go of your hair. He picked you up bridle style and walked towards your bedroom, tossing you onto your stomach onto the bed.
You moved to get up and his hand wrapped around your neck from behind you hard enough to leave dark bruises on your flesh. His other hand gripped your panties and tore them off your body, the sound of the fabric ripping filled the room along with your heavy breathing.
“Angel, your thighs are covered in it”, Chanhee chuckled as he ran his finger up your thigh to collect your wetness on it, sucking on the digit to taste you.
“You taste amazing too. Do you really want me y/n?”, he asked you as he walked across the room, grabbing a black sharpie off of your desk and coming back.
“I really really want you”, you nodded enthusiastically, but the sound of the lid on the marker coming off made you turn your head to look at Chanhee.
He hummed and smiled at you, making your cheeks go a rosey red. Chanhee started to dig the marker into your skin, writing degrading words along your perked ass and curved back.
Words that showed you truly did belong to him.
And in the middle of all the ‘cumslut’s, ‘whore’s, and ‘needy bitch’s was Chanhee’s name in big bold letters in the middle of your back.
He leaned back to admire his work and licked his lips, rubbing your ass with his hands, causing some of the black ink to smudge.
“Are you ready?”, he asked, just a hint of the cute boy you once knew was there. He really needed to know if you were okay.
“I’m ready. Everything is okay”, you smiled slightly with a nod, your legs trembling when you felt Chanhee rubbing his tip against your folds.
Slowly, he pushed himself inside of you, knowing you had never done something like this. It felt like he was made for you, filling you to the brim as you cried out from the stretch.
His hips pressed against your ass, finally all the way in. He stayed still as he waited for you to adjust, groaning when you clenched around his length.
“M-move please”, the words came out in a stutter as your eyes rolled back, completely overwhelmed in pure ecstasy. Chanhee smirked and started to rough go in and out of your tight cunt.
“Fuck, you feel so amazing”, he groaned as he brushed against your g-spot, causing your back to arch. You had never felt so good and Chanhee wasn’t going to stop until he was sure of this fact.
Chanhee gripped your hair to pull your head back as he fucked you, moans falling from your lips as the pain and pleasure mixed. His other hand gripped your hip, his nails scratching the skin as his hips pressed against your ass. The marker smeared even more, showing up on his stomach and hips.
“Who do you belong to?”, he groaned and you struggled to get any words out. He knew that. He wanted to watch you struggle to compose yourself as he absolutely ruined you.
“I-I’m y-yours! All yours!”, you screamed out and he smiled sweetly, a sharp contrast to his words.
You clenched around him again, your pussy throbbing around his cock. You started shaking and you felt a knot start to form in your stomach.
Without warning, you released. Your cum coating Chanhee’s dick that was still thrusting deep inside of you. He didn’t stop. He wouldn’t stop.
Tears welled up in your eyes from the overstimulation. Heat engulfed your body as Chanhee leaned more into you, his chest pressed against your back so you couldn’t move.
Your hands gripped the cuffs around them to keep your mind intact. Otherwise, you probably would’ve already been fucked way beyond dumb.
“I’m going to cum angel”, you heard his voice in your ear but none of it had registered. You were too focused on all the sensations happening to your body.
Soon, Chanhee’s load was shot deep inside of you. You whimpered as you felt his cum stick to the innermost parts of you, a warmth erupting from the action.
He pulled out and you whined from the emptiness, but you slowly gained your sense back as your chest heaved in desperate attempts to get air.
“Are you okay?”, just like that, the cute Chanhee was back. The one that cared about your safety and wanted to hold you all the time.
It shocked you a little, but you smiled weakly and nodded.
“I’m okay”, your voice sounded hoarse from all the screaming and moaning so Chanhee uncuffed you before he went to get you a glass of water. He handed it to you once he helped you sit back up and you drank it, mumbling a thanks.
“I love you”, the words caused you to choke a little on your water before you looked at the man. He was serious. You could tell by his face.
“I love you too”, you spoke without thinking. Chanhee smiled and put his arm around your waist, placing a chaste kiss to the side of your head.
You two stayed there, cuddling and loving on one another. You were the only one Chanhee would ever want and he knew that. He’d never let anyone hurt you.
Sleep overcame you both until you woke up, hearing a familiar sound.
The sound of sirens.
Police sirens.
You quickly got up, startling Chanhee into waking up. He looked at you, his hair a mess and a groan slipping past his lips.
You heard the pounding on the front door and as the first officer ran in, the first pull of your trigger took place.

Sneak Out- Juhaknyeon
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 3466
Everyone always says honesty is the best policy, but you were damn sure that it was not even close.
It all started like this.
You were tiptoeing your way back to your room, only for the lights to turn on all around you.
“Father!” You say in surprise while also grimacing. Sangyeon stood next to him, a guilty look on his face.
“Princess, do you want to explain to me what you were doing out so late at night without Sangyeon?” He asks, glancing in your bodyguard’s direction.
“You are in no way, shape, or form allowed to hurt or fire Sangyeon,” You reply immediately. “He didn’t know. I turned off the security system.”
“Bedroom, now.” He sternly says, pointing towards the stairs. You gather your dress from below you and quickly make your way to your bedroom. You stand outside to attempt to hear what your father will say to Sangyeon only to hear his voice directed towards you again.
“And I mean inside the bedroom!”
You hastily unlock the bedroom door and make your way inside, wondering what would happen to Sangyeon.
It didn’t take long for you to figure out what happened, because as soon as you woke up the next morning, you noticed Sangyeon's absence from your door. Instead, a different figure stood outside your door. You wanted to search for the kind man, and friend, that once stood in his spot.
“Where is Sangyeon?” You immediately ask, confusion laced in your voice.
“He monitors the gardens now. Your father said if he proves himself worthy enough to move back up in rank, he can take the job of being your personal security again,” The man replies.
“And who are you?” You ask, finally getting a good look at his face. You had seen him around a few times, just now getting to see him up close. You knew he was friends with the other lower-level security- Sunwoo and Eric.
“Not important,” He mutters, turning back around.
You furrow your eyebrows at his attitude. “Fine, if you’re going to be like that, then so be it.”
You push past the man, but he quickly follows suit, not letting you out of his line of sight. You roll your eyes in frustration, knocking on the doors of the study room that your father usually resided in.
“Come in,” You hear him say. Thankfully, the security guard doesn’t come in with you. You watch him turn his back to the room and place his hands against his sides, the usual stance you saw the guards in.
Turning back around, you bombard your father.
“Why won’t that man tell me his name? And why did you lower Sangyeon’s rank? You know he has a wife and child to feed, this is not acceptable, father! It was not his fault! Not to mention, all I did was hang out with Chanhee last night. That is not nearly enough reason to-”
Your father looks up from his papers, cutting you off.
“First, you will not tell me how to run my kingdom. I make all my decisions with fair judgment, and it has not led me to the wrong place yet. Second, I know of Sangyeon’s situation. His payment and residence in the kingdom are still the same. He is merely doing another task until I find himself in a good position to monitor you again. Third, I do not care who you were with. You are not allowed out of this house without your guard, which brings me to my next point. Haknyeon is an incredible guard, and it was about time I tested him to see his full potential.”
You go silent at his words, pouting once you realize there was no argument you could use against him. Once he realizes the look on your face, he can’t help but laugh.
“What? Upset you're unable to fight back? Let’s go. It’s time for breakfast,” He chuckles, getting up from his seat. You break out into a small smile as well, not letting him see it.
“Haknyeon,” You say once you're outside of the study room, bowing to finally meet the guard’s acquaintance.
“Princess,” Haknyeon stiffly says, bowing as well. Your father leaves you behind, speaking with someone else, leaving you alone with Haknyeon.
“I hope we can be good friends,” You say, smiling and walking away before you can hear Haknyeon scoff underneath his breath and jog up to catch up with you.
-
And that’s how it started: You doing everything you could to get Haknyeon to enjoy your presence, and him simply staying silent as you asked him a million questions at once. There had been a few times that you were able to get some answers from him. He was the middle child, one older sister and one younger. It was evident from the way he talked about them that they meant a lot to him. You also learned that he could be a little reckless, only when he was around Eric and Sunwoo, though. There were a few moments when you got to see the real him, pushing Eric whenever he whispered something in his ear or fondly smiling at the animals that sometimes found themselves around the kingdom.
It was another bright day. You were splayed across the bench in the garden while Haknyeon sat near the river, throwing bread to the ducks.
“Haknyeon?” You ask, shielding your eyes from the sun as you take a look at the man sitting across from you. He was humming slightly, a song you had never heard before.
“Yes, princess?”
“Do you think I could meet your sisters one day?” You get up from your position, brushing off your dress of anything that might have been on it.
Haknyeon furrows his eyebrows, a look of confusion arising on his face. “Why?”
You frown, not liking his response. “From what I have heard of them, I think we would get along well. Also, I want to see the pig farm. And the horses! I think it’s completely unfair that you have yet to introduce me to your animals.”
You’re not sure whether it’s because of the sun, or your words, that you see a blush rise on his face. Much to your dismay, a small smile also erupts on his face, one that you didn’t get to see often.
Not everything could be blamed on the heat though, because you were sure of the reason for the butterflies you felt gathering in your stomach.
And although he didn’t give you a sure answer, he took you there the next week.
-
“Princess Y/N! Haknyeonie!” You hear an excited voice shout. The carriage finally stops, letting you see the source of the noise, but all you can see is a blur running towards the two of you. Haknyeon told you before you left that the visit was a surprise, and you were sure you were just as excited as his little sister as she saw the carriage pull in.
Haknyeon didn’t get to visit often, especially now that he was your bodyguard; he had to accompany you no matter where you went. You were glad that he asked the King, however, because he definitely needed a break.
“Suyeonie!” He exclaims, immediately jumping out of the carriage to meet her. He picks her up, spinning her around, and you smile as you watch his little sister squeal in excitement.
“Haknyeonie, you never told us you were coming! And you brought,” She looks in your direction but quickly turns away, trying to whisper the rest of her sentence, “You brought the princess.”
Haknyeon looks at you, a look of realization running across his face.
“Oh, Princess, I am so sorry!” He rushes to the carriage, holding out his hand to help you descend.
“Nonsense Haknyeon, I should not be your priority in this situation,” You shake your head, taking his hand nonetheless so you could get down. It didn’t matter if you had remained on the carriage for a second or an hour, Haknyeon deserved this.
“You are always my priority,” He mumbles, helping you out and turning before he can see the blush that arose on your face.
The rest of the day went by with you getting to know his family, most of it being his little sister dragging you around to show you different things. You enjoyed it though- getting to know Haknyeon’s family. It was also important for you to connect with the children knowing they looked up to you.
“Suyeonie, you need to leave her alone,” You hear an unfamiliar voice say. There was one person you had yet to meet. You met his mother as she frantically searched for where the youngest had run off to, but she was pleasantly surprised to see that she was with you and Haknyeon. She complained to Haknyeon about not having a heads up to clean the house, but it was spotless when you entered. She had explained that his older sister was out getting some fruits and vegetables from the local market, and for some reason, you were most nervous to meet her.
“She’s my friend!” Suyeon claimed before taking the stuffed animal that was in her hand and placing it in yours. “See! She’s meeting my toys!”
You softly smile at the girl in front of you, but Haknyeon’s older sister tells her to go to the kitchen to help Haknyeon put away the food that she had just brought. She goes without a complaint, but not before telling you to take good care of the pig that she gave you.
“You must be the princess. It is impossible to mistake you for anyone else. You’re beautiful,” His sister says before sitting next to you. “I’m Ukhyung.”
“Oh, thank you! You’re beautiful too,” You say, taking time to admire his sister.
“I overheard Haknyeon talking about you in the kitchen. He seems to care for you a lot,” She begins, a familiar glint in her eye.
“I would hope so, considering it’s his job,” You laugh off the meaning of her words, trying to brush off the feeling that arose within you. “I care about him as well, so I am glad to hear that.”
It’s silent for a moment, neither of you saying anything. You can tell she’s contemplating something, so you decide to say nothing.
“Just promise me something. I’m asking this as not only his sister but as a citizen of your kingdom.”
You nod your head, gesturing for her to go on with what she was saying.
“Please take care of him.”
-
Dear Princess,
When are you coming to visit me?? It has been so long since we have seen each other that my mother has forgotten what you looked like! I am so tired of hearing about how ravishing and lovely your new bodyguard is through letters. Your father loves you, and we both know he will do nothing if he finds you come back home late again. Where is your wandering spirit? Your sense of freedom? Your love and affection for your best friend?
Please come see me. I am so bored without you.
CC
Also, please tell Sunwoo to stop sending me “anonymous” love letters. There is nothing anonymous about his elementary writing skills.
“What are you reading?” Haknyeon asks, sneaking up from behind you. You immediately turn around, hiding the letter behind your back.
A mischievous smile makes its way onto Haknyeon’s face, causing you to frown.
“Do not even think about it. It is just a letter from Chanhee. He wants me to come see him,” You explain, sitting down on the bench that was outside of your room.
“I have yet to meet Chanhee. I can take you to see him. I feel obligated to know him considering he is your one and only friend,” Haknyeon laughs at his own words, a proud smile arising on his face. Ever since you went to go meet his family, it’s like you unlocked a new side to him. Most of that new side meant getting teased relentlessly, almost as much as you poked fun at him.
Knowing Chanhee’s lack of filter, you knew seeing him with Haknyeon by your side would be a terrible idea. Chanhee would expose your feelings towards him within seconds.
“Excuse you, I will let you know that I have many friends. The entire kingdom is my friend. Also, do not worry about Chanhee. I will just-” You stop mid-sentence, hoping that you had stopped yourself before it was too late. You dart your eyes to the ground, not wanting to see Haknyeon.
“You will just what?” Haknyeon asks, a serious look replacing his smile.
He already knew what you were going to say.
You feel your heart pick up its pace as Haknyeon lowers himself to your level to meet you. He places his pointer finger below your chin and raises his face to make eye contact with you. You can’t help but notice his proximity.
“Finish your sentence, Princess,” He mutters, lightly tracing your jawline.
You can tell why your father had put him in this position, immediately feeling compelled to tell Haknyeon how you were planning on sneaking out to meet Chanhee. He was good at his job.
“Was planning on seeing Chanhee tonight,” You mumble, afraid to break eye contact with him.
“Well, I can’t let you do that,” Haknyeon tuts.
You could tell he was being stern, yet it was obvious his mind was elsewhere.
“But-” You complain, getting ready to tell Haknyeon that there was no harm in going to Chanhee’s alone. You had done it many times, and nothing had happened to you.
“I can’t let you sneak out again, I’m sorry,” He states. Much to your dismay, it did look like he was sorry. A pained expression quickly crossed his face.
“Why?” You whisper.
“I think you know the answer to that, Princess.”
-
It was extremely difficult to ignore Haknyeon.
It was not like you were angry towards him. You knew you were falling for him at a rapid rate, scaring you in ways that you had never felt before.
Considering he was your bodyguard, it was practically impossible to keep away from him. Thankfully, you didn’t have to work towards that goal much longer.
“Sangyeon!” You exclaim, once you open your door and see the man.
“Missed me?” He asks, laughing. He wraps his arms around you, something that others would find odd if they didn’t know how close you two truly were.
“So much,” You truthfully say, trying to erase the thoughts from your mind that were wondering where Haknyeon was.
“Could not have been that much,” Sangyeon says, the glint in his eyes disappearing. “I think you need to talk to Haknyeon.”
Your heart immediately stops beating at the mention of his name.
“Did something happen to him? Where is he? Is he being transferred somewhere outside the kingdom?” You ask, not even realizing how many questions you were truly asking. At this point, only worry clouded your thoughts.
“I think you know where he is. He will explain everything,” Sangyeon reassures, moving out of the doorway so you could leave.
You begin to take off but quickly turn back around, kissing Sangyeon on the cheek.
“Thank you.”
Your feet began to lead you to where you needed to go before you could even think about it.
“Haknyeon,” You breathe out once you see the man sitting on your favorite bench in the garden. You didn’t say his name loudly, but as if he could sense your presence, he turned around to look at you.
“Hi Princess,” He smiles.
You make your way over to him, taking some time to catch your breath.
“I must be pretty important for you to come running like this.” Though his words were meant to be a joke, there was something else in his tone that didn’t match up.
“You are important to me, Haknyeon,” You confirm, taking a seat next to him.
After a few seconds of silence, he finally turns to look at you. Your hand laid upon the bench in such a way that you could feel the warmth radiating off of Haknyeon.
“You know, your father did not come to me to switch me out with Sangyeon,” He explains, looking down at your hand before looking back up at you. You take the chance and reach for his hand, intertwining them. If your heart immediately started beating faster at the contact, that’s something Haknyeon did not need to know. “I went to him.”
“Why?” You ask, suddenly getting flashbacks to when you were sitting outside of your room, asking him this same question in a hushed tone.
“I do not think that I am fit for the job,” He bitterly laughs, staring at your intertwined hands.
Your eyebrows furrow, immediately finding offense in his words.
“There is no one more qualified for this job than you, Haknyeon. You make me feel protected, safe,” You trail off, hoping that Haknyeon understood where you were going with your sentence.
Silence, again. It was almost like you could see Haknyeon’s conflicting thoughts fight in his head.
“I am so in love with you,” Haknyeon whispers, looking back up at you. “And I told him. I told the King.”
Your eyes widen in shock, not expecting Haknyeon to admit those words, let alone tell your father. You want to smile, laugh in joy, but you knew that there were evident consequences to his words. His well-being came before your feelings.
“Haknyeon,” You whisper, taking your free hand to grip his jaw to ensure that he was looking at you and would continue to do so.
“What did he say?” You ask. You knew your father well, but not enough for you to predict his actions in such a circumstance. No one could.
“I am no longer working as security,” He admits.
Your first reaction is even more shock, but soon you begin to feel yourself fill with anger. You stand up from your spot, letting go of any contact you had with Haknyeon.
“That is absurd! I can’t believe he would remove you from security when you have been working with us for nearly five years! I don’t care about the repercussions, but I need to talk to father about this, because I refuse-” Haknyeon cuts you off mid-ramble, a laugh escaping his lips.
“Princess, I am sorry to cut you off, but there is no need to do all that. He gave me another job to replace the one I was doing. If I can be completely honest, I already felt myself starting to lack at my current position. My head is never clear around you,” He confesses.
“Oh,” You deflate, the anger quickly leaving your body. You temporarily ignore his last sentence. “Well, what are you doing now?”
“Night watchman. Not much different than security, but not specifically tailored to you,” He explains, taking your hand and placing it back in his.
You nod your head in approval, not realizing that you had yet to address the other part of his confession.
“And what did he say about the other part?” You ask, suddenly feeling shy to say the words aloud.
“What part? The part where I said I am in love with you?” Haknyeon teases, pulling you closer. You could tell he was still nervous, though, his hands slightly shaking. The butterflies that you had become familiar with erupted in your stomach once again.
You nod your head, playing with his fingers to distract you from the anxiousness that washed through you.
“Well, he said that, ultimately,” He takes a pause, causing your heart to beat faster in anticipation. “It was your choice-”
“Oh thank God,” You mumble, closing the gap between the two of you and finally kissing the boy that sat in front of you.
You feel him pause for a second, in shock, but he quickly begins to kiss back, a slight laugh escaping his lips. As you expected, kissing Haknyeon was the best feeling in the world. An addicting feeling that you were afraid you could never get sick of.
“I love you,” You whisper when you finally get a chance to pull away from his lips.
Haknyeon simply smiles back, the brightest smile you had ever seen on his face.
“Can I meet Chanhee now?” He asks, a mischievous smirk replacing his smile. “You know, as your bodyguard, I have to read all your letters before you do to ensure that there was no one threatening you, right?”
You drop your mouth in shock, scoffing at his dishonesty. Haknyeon laughs, but not before placing a quick kiss on your lips.
“Come on, we can even bring Sunwoo.”

Ways to Fall in Love Series
1. Over tea
Genres: fluff, single dad au
Pairing: Reader & Haknyeon (The Boyz)
Words: 2.1k (00:09)
Note: I’m not sure how I feel about this, so I may rewrite it someday. Also, I imagined Haknyeon a little older in this and I suggest you do the same lol.
•••
Haknyeon nearly ran into the glass door of Dream Daycare in his haste, but he caught himself just in time, hands pressing up against the cool glass and leaving his fingerprints behind. With heavy breaths, he swung the door open and walked inside.
The ice blue walls were much too bright compared to the darkening sky outside, which only added to Haknyeon's guilt. He walked briskly through the halls that were painted with white fluffy clouds against blue, the bright cheeriness they implied almost taunting him. He was damn late.
"I'm so sorry," he panted as he burst through yet another door. Expecting to see you at the sink — washing dishes or some sort of craft project like you always were when he showed up, Haknyeon paused when he saw, in fact, no one at the sink. Oh right. He was late. You probably finished the dishes two hours ago.
When he saw nobody else, he ventured further into the daycare than he usually did when picking Daeyoon up. "Hello…?"
"Halt!" You suddenly popped out from behind a bookshelf, pointing a worn-down foam sword straight at Haknyeon's nose. Instinctively, Haknyeon raised his hands in surrender. Though, when he realized it was you, he quirked an eyebrow. "King Ju, you've been placed under arrest by order of His Royal Highness. Come with me."
Other than the foam sword, you also had what looked like arm guards made from brown paper bags, doodled on with little decorations clearly drawn by children. You lowered the sword and smiled playfully, then waved for him to follow as you turned and walked further into the room. Haknyeon had no idea what was going on, but he was just glad you weren't chewing him out for being as late as he was.
As you led him to the play area, he finally spotted Daeyoon sitting at a tiny table. Atop his head, he wore a crown similar to your arm guards, made with brown paper and drawn all over with colourful markers. A plastic tea set, complete with a teapot, cups filled with what looked like water, and saucers, sat on the table.
"May I present," you said, placing a hand over you heart, "His Royal Highness, Princess Daeyoon of Dreamlandia!"
You placed a hand gently on Haknyeon's shoulder, guiding him to bow with you.
When you both rose, Haknyeon turned to look at you, then his son, then you again. "Prin...cess?"
"Why of course!" You turned to Daeyoon, bending down with your hands on your knees. "Princes are so overrated, right, Princess Daeyoon?" Straightening yourself up, you whispered to Haknyeon, "We read The Paper Bag Princess today."
Daeyoon took a sip of his "tea", nodding. He looked like he was trying to act prim and proper, but the facade wasn't too convincing with his Paw Patrol t-shirt.
You cleared your throat dramatically and spoke again, "Princess Daeyoon, I, your loyal knight, have apprehended and brought forth King Ju for trial."
"Thank you, Sir Sleepalot. Sit down Papa — I mean, King Ju," Daeyoon said. He gestured to the seat across from him, taking another sip of his fake tea.
The chair was much too small for anyone taller than three feet, but Daeyoon looked — or was trying to look — serious. "Buddy, I don't think—"
You raised your foam sword again, fighting against a swarm of giggles, and Haknyeon had to stop himself from putting his hands up a second time. It was already embarrassing in the first place. Daeyoon seemed like he was about to break character and laugh too, but he somehow managed to hold it together.
"Might I remind you, King Ju," you said, a cute smile on your face, "that you are here for questioning under the order of the Princess. Please show some respect." Pointing to the tiny plastic chair, you continued, "Have a seat."
Haknyeon relented, crouching awkwardly to sit down, his knees bent up and squished between him and the table. He laughed a bit. Normally he would have signed Daeyoon out and been on the way home by now, though, it wouldn't hurt to let the boy play a little, especially after being so late. And if you were okay with it — seeing as you were cheerfully playing along, then Haknyeon felt no harm.
With another dramatic clearing of your throat, you mimed pulling out a scroll and unrolling it. "Dreamlandia Royal Court is now in session! Your first question, Your Highness?"
You turned to Daeyoon, who was practically vibrating in anticipation. "First question," he boasted, pointing theatrically at Haknyeon, "Why are you so late Papa? It's—!"
He turned to you, and you quickly glanced in the direction of the kitchen, finding the clock on the microwave. "It's 6:38!" you finished for him.
Ah, there it is. Of course Haknyeon wouldn't get off being late scott free, what was he thinking?
"Papa had things to do at work today, buddy, I'm sorry. Uncle Jaehyun was supposed to pick you up for me, but he ran into some trouble of his own, okay?"
"Uncle Jaehyun?" Daeyoon's eyes lit up at the mention of his favorite (but don't tell Sangyeon) uncle.
"Yeah, he says he feels really bad, so he's gonna take you out for ice cream this weekend. How does that feel, uh, Princess?"
Actually, Jaehyun said McDonald's, but Daeyoon had been eyeing this fancy new ice cream shop recently, and Haknyeon knew it would be the perfect apology bribe.
"Did you hear that Sir Sleepalot?" Daeyoon nearly yelled. Haknyeon had barely noticed that you'd disappeared for a second and reappeared next to him with two mugs in hand, placing one down in front of him. Daeyoon pointed a triumphant thumb to his chest. "Uncle Jaehyun is taking me for ice cream!"
"Oh, you didn't have to—" Haknyeon tried to say, but you cut him off.
"I did hear! Isn't that nice of him? You must like Uncle Jaehyun a whole lot." When Daeyoon went off on a rant about the new shoes ("they light up!") his uncle bought him, you turned to Haknyeon and whispered, "I already had some brewing anyway."
Haknyeon wanted to argue that he'd be leaving soon, but when you sat down at the tiny kids table, he couldn't find the words.
"Heyyyy," Daeyoon suddenly whined, "why does Papa get a special drink?"
"King Ju and I aren't allowed to drink your special princess tea, so we have to drink this gross stuff," you answered simply, pointing at Daeyoon's mini teacup. "Now Princess Daeyoon, do you remember the second question you had for King Ju?"
“Oh!” Daeyoon swiftly stood up, knocking the table with his knees as he went and completely forgetting about the ‘special drinks’. He crouched down next to his backpack and rummaged through it. Though he didn’t seem to have much luck finding whatever it was he tried to look for.
Next to Haknyeon, you let out a little laugh. You took another sip of your tea and gestured for Haknyeon to do the same. It tasted floral and fruity, not like what Haknyeon usually drank, but nice in a different sort of way. He smiled as he set his cup down, and he sent you the look as a frail form of thanks. Though, when he looked at you well and good for the first time, his eyes stuck in place.
You wore a different hairstyle today than usual, he noticed, and it made you look, well, cute. Not that you weren't cute before, but… maybe that wasn't the right word… you've always looked nice… no, that sounded backhanded somehow—
"Papa," Daeyoon interrupted, making Haknyeon jerk his eyes off of you and onto his son. His little eyes darted between Haknyeon and you for a moment, filled with a question Haknyeon wouldn't know how to answer. All Haknyeon could do was pray you hadn't noticed him staring, but how could you not have? You were the only other person in the room, and you were sitting right next to him, for god's sake. Daeyoon waved his fingers in front of Haknyeon's face. "Papa?"
"Uh, yes?"
Daeyoon grinned from ear to ear, happy that he got his dad's full attention back. "Question two," he announced, "do you want…" He pulled his hand out from under the table, revealing a second paper crown and holding it out proudly in front of him. "THIS?"
Haknyeon's heart swelled at the sight of the craft, all bits of glitter and messy doodles. On one side, letters spelled out 'King Papa', the first word in what must have been your handwriting, and the other lopsided one in Daeyoon's. The crown sparkled under the fluorescent lights of the daycare.
"Aww, buddy, of course I'd like it." Haknyeon went to take the crown from Daeyoon, but it was swiped away at the last second. Making a sound of confusion, Haknyeon raised an eyebrow.
Daeyoon held the crown close to him, almost hugging it if it weren't so fragile. "If you want it, you gotta make a promise," he said.
"A promise?"
"Uh huh," Daeyoon urged, nodding enthusiastically. "You gotta promise to…" He furrowed his brow in concentration, trying to find the words. Suddenly his eyes widened as if he got it. "If you're late…"
Haknyeon turned his head to catch you sending hand signals to Daeyoon, and you quickly looked away, sipping your tea as if nothing happened. He could see the coy smile on your lips, though.
"...if you're late," Daeyoon continued, drawing back Haknyeon's attention, "you have to… call… so…"
You gestured your hand for Daeyoon to continue, mouthing the words for him.
"...we know… you're… okay!"
Both you and Daeyoon cheered at his success, and you leaned over the kid's table to high five him. Haknyeon let out a sigh, turning to you again.
"I really am sorry for being late, it won't happen again," he told you, but there was no guarantee behind that promise.
You shrugged. "It's no skin off my back, besides, I sort of needed the overtime pay anyways." Finishing off your tea, you placed the mug softly on the table. "Oh, but you do actually have to call in when you can, because if we don't know if you're okay or not, we have to call child protective services. Which, to be honest, is the last thing I wanna do."
With a cute little wink, you turned back to Daeyoon. "Okay Princess, it's time to crown King Ju and go home, alright?"
“Nooooooo,” Daeyoon whined, "I wanna play with you and Papa."
“I think we’ve bothered them for long enough, Daeyoon. It’s time to go.” Haknyeon held out his hand for the crown and put it on his head with a smile when Daeyoon handed it over. He then picked up Daeyoon’s bag, slung it over one shoulder, and picked up Daeyoon so his chest was against his own. Daeyoon’s legs naturally wrapped around Haknyeon’s waist. He wouldn’t protest anymore, not when he got to sit in Haknyeon’s grip — his favorite. Apparently he liked hearing his dad’s heartbeat. Slowly, Haknyeon made his way out of the room. “Do you drive home?”
You looked up at Haknyeon after putting away the tea set, grabbing your own bag, and turning off the room lights, walking out and closing the door behind you. “No, I take the bus usually.”
“Usually?”
Your eyes turned to the floor as you let out a nervous laugh. “Yeah… sometimes I leave my pass at home so I have to walk. Oh, I have it today, though.”
The sky outside glowed a soft pink colour, a warning that night would soon fall. Haknyeon could feel the weight in his arms growing heavier, and he knew that meant Daeyoon was falling asleep, something he always did in the comfort of his father’s hold. “It’s getting dark,” he said as you both stepped out of Dream Daycare.
“I don’t live very far,” you assured with a smile.
“I…” Was he really about to ask? Yes. “I could give you a lift, if you’d like, as thanks for your troubles. I know Daeyoon can be a handful.”
“That’s very sweet of you to offer, but I’m actually meeting a friend tonight. They’re going to pick me up just down the road.” You pointed in the opposite direction of where Haknyeon was headed, and he felt his heart deflate. He wasn’t sure why, but he knew he’d enjoy a few more minutes with you. There was no point in arguing, though, you barely knew him.
He wanted to get to know you.
“But…” you drawled, taking one step closer to him, hands clasped behind your back, “I wouldn’t be against thanks in the form of ice cream this weekend. Only if the Princess approves, of course.”
Haknyeon could only meet your eyes in shock for more than a few seconds. Letting out a laugh that was more a relieved exhale than anything, he smiled to the ground. He returned his gaze to you. “It’s a date.”

description: when you joined the baseball team, you knew you were finally fitting in. you were finally becoming the person you wanted to be, but one game may soon lead to your whole world imploding.
a/n: hey guys! I know it was stated at the beginning of this blog that all imagines would involve a gender neutral reader, but this is something I've had done for awhile. as someone who is transgender, I wish there were more ftm to stories/imagines, so I figured I would contribute!

everything was spinning as you lowered yourself down on the bench. your legs felt like jelly and your ribs burnt like fire. your face was coated with a fine layer of sweat and you had to resist the urge to rest your cheek against the cold metal bench. the nausea in your stomach made it hard to focus. you didn’t even notice that someone had yanked your baseball helmet off until a stream of cold water met your head, drenching your unruly black hair and running under the collar of the 87 jersey you were currently wearing.
“are you sure you’re okay, y/n?” your teammate, kevin, asked, raking his hand through your wet hair in an attempt to get it out of your face. “you look like you’re overheating.”
if it was a normal day, you would be mentally freaking out over the fact that the boy who you had a crush on since seventh grade year was running his hands through your hair, but your brain felt too much like mush in your head.
you squinted up at kevin and breathing through the pain in your ribs, you spoke. “i’m fine.”
“you don’t look fine to me, y/n,” your baseball coach countered, jogging up to where you were sitting. “you’ve been off since warm-ups and i can tell your brain isn’t in the game today. that’s the reason why i called a timeout. I think you should stay on the bench for the reminder of the time.”
almost immediately, you shook your head, water droplets still falling from your hair. “no, I can play. i’m okay. it’s just hot out today. the water kevin poured on my head helped.”
you desperately hoped that your voice sounded convincing. coach mulled over your words for a few seconds before releasing a sigh. “fine, but if i think for a moment that you’re unfit to play, i’m pulling you out whether you like it or not. now, let’s get back in the game. it’s your turn to pitch.”
you nodded as kevin grabbed onto your hands, pulling you to your feet. you held back a cry of pain as your ribs were set ablaze once again.
kevin gave you a look of concern before running out toward the outfield. you slipped on your mitt, running toward the pitcher’s mound. you could hardly breathe as you attempted to zero in on the area you were supposed to aim for. your limbs felt heavy as you lifted your left leg, letting the ball fly.
you honestly weren’t even sure how you were still standing. the black stars exploding in your line of vision made you feel disoriented and it felt like there was weight on your chest. you were so focused on not passing out that you didn’t even notice the batter make contact with the ball, sending it flying in your direction.
“y/n!” kevin called out while the rest of the team called, “heads up!”
kevin rushed toward you, but he wasn’t quick enough. the ball made a sickening crack as hit the side of your head, knocking you to the ground. you weren’t even awake when you hit the dirt mound below.
。☆✼★━━━━━━━━━━━━★✼☆。
the moment you woke up, it felt like someone had taken a sledgehammer to your skull. your hand moved up to touch your temple, but instead it came in contact with soft material, which could only be gauze. you let out a groan as you attempted to open your eyes only to be greeted by harsh light. you were in the nurse’s office.
“what happened?” you asked, feeling movement to your left. you turned your head, causing another burst of black to enter your vision, to see juyeon positioned next to your bed.
“a baseball hit you in the head,” your best friend and fellow teammate explained, grabbing a hold of your hand in preparation to pull you off of your back. “how do you feel? are you dizzy? is the pain bad?”
“on a scale of one to ten, I would say-”  you let out a yelp as juyeon pulled you up into a sitting position. your hand instinctively moved to your rib cage. you expected your fingers to come in contact with the fabric of your baseball uniform, but instead, you touched bare skin.
“why is my jersey unbuttoned?” you asked, your breath coming out heavy.
juyeon sighed. “when kevin carried you in, you weren’t breathing right. the nurse had to check your heart and-”
your eyes widened as you searched the black-haired boy’s face. “does he know?” your voice was barely above a whisper.
juyeon gave you a sad look. “I tried to get him to leave before the nurse did anything, but he was worried about you. he wanted to stay.”
an involuntary sound left your lungs as you realized the power that your best friend’s words held. the secret you had been hiding your entire middle and high school career was out and it wasn’t even your decision. a sob escaped your lungs, intensifying the pain in your ribs and chest.
“hey, hey,” juyeon whispered, cupping your face. “breathe, okay? crying is only going to make your ribs hurt worse. the nurse wanted to take it off of you, but your dad told her to wait until he got here.” he gently pulled you against his body, being careful to not squeeze you too hard. “you shouldn’t have slept in it last night. my family wouldn’t have noticed anything. i should have made you take it off.”
you pulled back from juyeon, your eyes filled with tears. “he’s going to tell everyone. the whole school is going to know. i’ll get kicked off the team.”
your words caught in your throat as the nurse’s office door opened and kevin stepped in. you wanted to scream as the older boy’s eyes darted down to the binder constricting your chest. “i’m not going to tell anyone, y/n.”
“why? because you don’t want to expose the transgender kid?’ you spat out.
kevin gave you a small smile. “no, because I care about the boy in front of me.”
