COVID finally got me just after the new year. Fortunately, I only had about 24 hours of bad symptoms (fever, chills, body aches). Then I had 48 hours of feeling off but okay. Only medication I took was 2 Advil liquid gels every 8 hours, which seemed to clear any symptoms I had. Now I feel pretty much back to normal after a total of 4 days, and got a lift in today from @juggernauttraining BJJAI lifestyle program. 💪 I know I showed a bit of my workouts in the past, which I think intimidated some people as they were 2-3 hours long. 😂 However, the Juggernaut BJJ AI lifestyle program much more efficient, taking less than an hour to complete with warm ups and all. Then lifestyle program is a great place for newcomers to lifting to start, those that just want to compliment their jujitsu game with strength training but not invest a lot of time, or for those that just want to maintain their current strength levels which is my case. https://www.instagram.com/davidavellan/p/CYcyXqJpkhE/?utm_medium=tumblr

⚠️CRYPTID SIGHTING⚠️ My #squat actually has me in an ok mood today so I felt motivated to make a post containing MySelf. [Disregard - or fully regard - my stupidass plates + nonslip mat setup, I'm making space for what my lifting shoes are gonna feel like when they come in the mail] 🚮My squat strength is fucking wack🚮 I started with a natural strength much higher than most but I haven't added much to it in my 6yrs training seriously. In this period of trying to rebuild my foundation entirely after flatlining it until it crashed, I'm also trying to rebuild this lift in particular bc it's embarrassing. I know my strength isn't where it should be bc of my yrs of undereating but it's still disproportionate to my other lifts, so not an explanation. Also know I'm not built well for a squat - my proportions are VERY even, longer torso than most esp females - but neither is @biolayne, not an explanation either. A few weeks ago I watched a @juggernauttraining squat video with a girl in a similar circumstance. ➡️Keep your knees forward⬅️ I filed that cue in my brain & brought it back into my awareness next time, & l tell u hwat, squatting with your fucking legs not your BACK feels like a totally different movement. This ain't my first cruise & I KNOW that's squat form, but I guess this was the first time I paid direct attn to the location of my knees on the way up. My theory is I've been subtly letting my knees+hips shift back on the way up this whole time, throwing the work into my lower back, which put a cap on my squat strength. I was aware my torso would fold slightly sometimes during grinds but didn't assume it was actually my knees & hips causing it. Also explains why my back is mad strong & I've always had meaty erectors. So, I've been consciously pushing into my KNEES, keeping them as far forward as they are at the very bottom as I ascend, & making sure my torso angle doesn't decrease at all from the hole. Surprising no one, I'm working with humiliating weights this way & my back isn't remotely fatigued in comparison. Also something I picked up from @phdeadlift - elbows UNDER the bar. That helps a bit too, I'm more focused on going straight up. (at Actual Hell)

I am in my 10 wave phase of this @juggernauttraining program and I really do not like it haha. Volume suckssss. But squats felt weird. My hips hurt a lot during this but weifht wise it felt light. The main problem is the hip pain from my inner thigh a mnd hip flexors. 3 x 10 to start off the training day (at 24 Hour Fitness - Walnut, CA)
