Jesus and Jude Thaddeus portraits ✨
I've been wanting to develop my coloring skills in traditional art, so I decided to make a couple of artworks with color pencils.
Anyway, I love these two
More people should appreciate Jude, even though he doesn't have much of a presence in the gospels.

THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINTS JUDE THADDEUS AND SIMON THE ZEALOT Feast Day: October 28
The patron of desperate situations and cases and lost causes, Jude Thaddeus, was the brother of fellow apostle James the Less, the son of Alphaeus. He is sometimes identified with Jude, the brother of Jesus and a relative to the Blessed Virgin Mary, but is clearly distinguished from Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus prior to his crucifixion.
In the Gospel of John, he was the one who asked Jesus during the Last Supper, and said: 'Master, what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?'
He replied: 'Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.'
He also wrote the penultimate letter to the Universal Church known in the Holy Bible as the Epistle of Jude. The epistle reassures its readers that these people will soon be judged by God. It is possible that the group being referred to would have been obvious to the original recipients of the letter, but if a specific group was being referred to, knowledge of the details has since been lost. The one bit of their potential ideology discussed in the letter is that these opponents denigrate angels and their role.
And thus this quote: 'Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.'
He died a martyr circa 65 AD in Armenia. Jude's attribute is a club. He is also often shown in icons with a flame around his head. This represents his presence at Pentecost, when he received the Holy Spirit with the other apostles. Another common attribute is Jude holding an image of Jesus Christ, known as the Image of Edessa. In some instances, he may be shown with a scroll or a book (the Epistle of Jude) or holding a carpenter's rule.
Simon, the Canaanean, is from Cana in Galilee, was surnamed the Zealot because of his enthusiasm for the Jewish law. Another tradition, doubtless inspired by his title 'the Zealot', states that he was involved in the First Jewish–Roman War. The Zealots were a religious and political group determined to resist the Roman occupation of Judea. They refused to pay taxes and called for rebellion.
Simon probably belonged to their party before the calling of Our Lord. After receiving the Holy Spirit through Pentecost, he went to preach the Holy Gospel in Persia and Armenia or Beirut, Lebanon together with Jude, where they received the crown of martyrdom.
Another tradition states that he traveled in the Middle East and Africa. Christian Ethiopians claim that he was crucified in Samaria, while Justus Lipsius writes that he was saw in half at Suanir, Persia. Simon has the identifying attribute of a saw because he was traditionally martyred by being saw in half in Christian art.

I’m not really well acquainted with Catholic Tumblr, but prayers would be appreciated for my grandfather, who may have cancer for the 4th time. Prayers of intercession to St. Peregrine and St. Jude especially would be appreciated.

✧ Patron Saints for the New Year
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In your prayers for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, American Catholics and Christians might like to consider invoking the intercession of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, who among other attributions is regarded as the Patron Saint of New Beginnings. This is usually credited to her being the first (United States) American-born Catholic that was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. (Not to be confused with the first Indigenous American canonized saint, St. Kateri Tekakwitha.) St. Elizabeth was a pioneer of girls' education in early America, opening the first free school for girls in Baltimore, Maryland in 1808. Next, she started the Sisters of Charity, the first religious order for women, in 1809. Following on, she continued to open hospitals, orphanages, and even more schools.
While researching patron saints for new beginnings, I discovered an article about St. Lazarus Devasahayam, a Hindu-born man who converted to Christianity in the 18th century, and the first Indian layperson to be canonized as a saint (in 2022). He might be someone to consider looking into if his life and history sound appealing to you, I found an article about him through Vatican News.
And to recognize the new Jubilee Year of Hope from December 2024 until January 2026, I would be remiss not to mention St. Jude Thaddeus, one of the apostles as well as the Patron Saint of Hope (and Desperate Causes). Given the social and political climates occurring all over the world, he is a great resource for comfort, strength, and hope. Additionally, his mother was a cousin to the Mother Mary, meaning he shared a blood-tie to the human Jesus. According to Catholic.org, "Roman Catholics invoke St. Jude when in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances -just as their forefathers had done before them; therefore, he is the patron saint of desperate cases."

Of course, remember to connect with the Holy Spirit, to Jesus, and to the rest of your patrons during this time!
I hope you all have a happy and safe new year holiday, and that we find strength, courage, and love for one another in 2025.

a killer Peter au
spoilers for killer Peter
so beware
So how about thaddeus (lebeo/Jude/judas/) living somewhere else and his parents are still alive. So like the old Thaddeus is like getting old and he works for glory but he is getting old so Raphael wants a replacement and he finds out so he asks Peter to keep his son safe. and they become friends and he might join peters groep.

There’s something fucking hilarious about my friend assigning me St. Rita of Cascia as my patron saint just for me to just realize that St. Jude Thaddeus is my birthday saint (his feast falls on my day.)
St. Rita is “the saint of the impossible, difficult, and hopeless causes, distinctly in the realm of marriage, abuse, fertility, parenthood, and disease.”
And St. Jude is “the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes.”
Just find it hilarious that I found this out now.
At least St. Jude was known for hope too.

The Underdog Apostle: St. Jude and the Lost Causes
He’s not the most famous apostle. Or the one with the most mentions in the Bible. But St. Jude has become one of the most beloved Catholic saints, especially for those dealing with desperate situations. So who was this underdog apostle? And how did he become the patron saint of lost causes? Unlike celebrity apostles like Peter and Paul, Jude preferred to work quietly in the background. He…
