[The infant mystic monkey Xiaoyún/小云 (Little Cloud) hatches from the Stone Egg much earlier (and much smaller) than they should be. They're missing an arm and an eye on their right side where the Stone Egg was cracked, the areas covered over with scar tissue.]
Aww! Poor baby! I hope he's not in pain from that crack!
[Dasheng and Zhanshi will kill anyone and anything that poses a threat to their little cloud.]
I have this feeling their kill counts will pentuple in the coming years.
That baby is prbs gonna be the most doted on in the Wukongverse by far.
I couldn't help imagine Red trying to make a prosthetic arm for the kid, but it devolved into Peach going, "I helped! I chopped my arms off to help Red with whatever he needed to get the things to work a needed."
Plum adding in tiredly, "The amount of hand and arm jokes that came during this event was frustrating to a point even the kids were throwing couches at the laughing asshole."
Xiaoyun is not in pain, but the single arm and eye is a little hurdle he grows to adapt to. He's also missing the outer ear(s) on his right/"cracked" side. His birth deformities mimic the perma-injuries his parents received in story - Dasheng's shackled right arm from the buddha vs Zhanshi's injuries from the war.
He's still a feisty baby! Like that one tiktok of a kitten trying to furiously smack something with it's missing paw. Loud chirping and squeaking follow where ever he is. Very chatty once he gets big enough.
Liuer is def the big brother who dotes on his little adoptive sibling. Is the first one to witness Xiaoyun crawling/walking on his own, and started crying with pride so loudly that the monkey parents thought something was wrong. They too started crying with pride.
[That baby is prbs gonna be the most doted on in the Wukongverse by far.]
Dasheng and Zhanshi come into a Wukongverse meeting after a few weeks of radio silence. Only to reveal tiny baby Xiaoyun, swaddled safely against one of their chests.
The other universes characters all have emotional attacks from the cuteness. Fully grown monkeys/pigs/monks/dragons/& fishmen sobbing.
Peach, crying from the cuteness: "H-he's so small!" Dasheng, attention fully on the baby: "He is. We wanted to make sure he was strong enough before we showed him off." Starfruit: "What's up with his face?" *gets smacked by 2 other monkeys* "Ow! It's a legit question!" Zhanshi, petting Starfruit's head: "It's ok. Little Xiaoyun's egg was damaged sometime before he hatched. We think the damage caused his right extremities not to form correctly." Liang, introducing Xiao Qi to the new baby: "Aw. Poor thing. I hope it doesn't cause him too many issues in the future. Maybe he'll manifest a crystal limb like his baba." Dasheng, hiding his crystallized tail: "Eh. Lets not get our hopes up." Sugar, in a baby-voice to Xiaoyun: "If anything happened to you, I would tear Heaven asunder. Yes I would!" :3
Meanwhile, LMK MK is too busy making goofy faces at this little other-him to wonder if his egg was cracked too (in the Monkey King and the Infant Au it was).
[I couldn't help imagine Red trying to make a prosthetic arm for the kid]
If LMK Red made a functional futuristic prosthetic arm for Xiaoyun, he would recieve the undying loyalty of the entire HiB gang.
And Peach would also get a tight hug of appreciation, and a groan for all his arm puns.

The Mother of Sun Wukong's Children in Journey to the South
In my previous articles "The Monkey King's Children" and "Yuebei xing, Daughter of the Monkey King," I revealed that Sun Wukong has three children in Journey to the South (Nanyouji, 南遊記, c. 1570s to 1580s). These include sons Jidu (奇都) and Luohou (羅猴) and daughter Yuebei Xing (月孛星). The novel never explains who the mother is, but an educated guess can be made for the purposes of fan fiction.
Each child is based on one of three lunar deities appearing among the “Eleven Luminaries” (Shiyi yao, 十一曜), which comprises planetary gods from both South and East Asian astrology. The specific deities are:
Jidu (奇都, “Ketu”) = Represents the southern (descending) lunar node, or the point where the moon crosses the earth’s orbit around the sun. Associated with eclipses.
Luohou (羅睺, “Rahu”) = Represents the northern (ascending) lunar node. Also associated with eclipses.
Yuebei Xing (月孛星, “Moon Comet Star”) = Represents the lunar apogee, or the furthest point in the moon’s orbit.
Given their close connection to the night time celestial body, it would make sense for the mother to be Taiyin xing (太陰星, “Great Yin Star”), goddess of the moon from the Eleven Luminaries.
Tumblr media
A detail of Taiyin xing from a Chinese depiction of the Eleven Luminaries (larger version). A full version of the drawing appears in the Ink Treasure of Wu Daozi (Daozi mobao, 道子墨寶, c. 13th-century) (larger version). She is the fourth person from the left on the top row.

Lol the sibbies be fightin!
Also the way you draw them reminds me of Avatar! 🥰🥰🥰
I love how so many people are ma king fan children it’s so cute🥹
I was think about the future baby monkeys. So yea, here is my babies 🐒
The first girl that is Chenguang
And the second boy is Yichen
There is more than two but for first time I want to introduce you the oldest.
Chenguang is the oldest sibling, and she is the most responsible child. She quite often gets into an argument with Yichen and Juan(it's other sibling I show her later).
'Cause they are the most "problematic". But however she still love them and like spend time with these troublemakers. As you can see her character is clearly not like her dad.
But she looks like him lmao.
And the Yichen is more like mom
Thank you for idea💕 @thesexydancingcrepe
Yeah, it's invented on Isekaid to the west. By@skittlescripts

nezha is a child in the show isn't he? why are you shipping yourself with a minor and writing romance with him?that's so creepy,,,, how are you talking about dynamicsimp when you're doing worst 🤮
Tumblr media
Found this cute Nezha fanart anyways
I knew I had to deal with one of y'all eventually but I didn't think it'd be this soon. Damn, at least let me hit 100 followers first 😞
Anyways uh. Nezha's first introduction in season 3 came out in like, what, 2022? I'm assuming it is, because I started LMK in March of 2023, before s4 was released and already found the show up till s3 by then. S5 just released this year, of which we've seen a weird increase of Nezha screentime of which I'm not complaining.
Point blank. The Nezha age controversies are getting old and boring. New fans and old fans need to chill out with those issue about the age business.
1) It's confirmed the Lego Monkie Kid version of the deity known as Nezha is an adult.
2) This is a god of an Eastern religion who is still very much worshipped to our modern day. If you did your research, you should be able to take note that Nezha isn't only seen as a child god, but even portrayed as someone older. I'm not a Daoist nor Chinese, so I advise you check this blog ( @/ruibaozha ) for more information on the subject matter.
3) As is the case with modern media and adaptations, different shows will portray religious figures according to what works for their plot. In the movie Nezha 2019 (forgot the title whoops), Nezha is portrayed as a child, as we are seeing a comedic but angsty interpretation of his origins. In the Legend Of Hei, we see him portrayed as a child, assuming for comedic purposes and to bond with the MC Hei.
3.2) If LMK wanted to portray Nezha as a child like his appearances in Journey To The West, and the Fengshen Yanyi (?), you must understand then his design and personality would've been portrayed more childish or at the very least a mixture of mature and childish. We can see this by comparing LMK Nezha and TLOH Nezha = both are stern but where one acts, looks and often shows childish traits, the other acts like an exhausted 25 year old who needs therapy. LMK HAS made children in the past, as we've seen with the Lady Bone Demon's Host and in season 1 a few kids here and there as background characters. If the show wanted Nezha to be a child, I'm certain they would've given him a similar model.
4) If in the instance that, let's say, the god known as Nezha was a child, and LMK Nezha is an adult, you SHOULD separate fiction from religion. Do keep in mind that Sun Wukong is still very much worshipped, however, I have seen fans, in and outside of LMK, who have written heavy NSFW and simped for him. A god is not the same as a fictional character, because by that logic we shouldn't be simping much less writing NSFW of Wukong either, given his story in JTTW where he becomes a Buddha.
5) I do not like proshipping much like any sane person. I also HATE aging up minors in fiction just for something like self shipping or to write nsfw. I have been in fandoms before this one: Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers, and My Hero Academia specifically, and it makes me uncomfortable seeing porn written of actual minors with excuse of them being aged up. I'm not so hypocritical I'd dare to want to do the same, not when I'm uncomfortable with anyone else doing it. If LMK Nezha was a minor, and there were sources to even prove as well within the series he's a child, then obviously, I would NOT be shipping myself with him, much less write romantic/nsfw content with him. I'm an adult, and I don't feel comfortable with minors in general, so why would I want to write romantic content about a FICTIONAL minor??
If you can find any source that proves me wrong, I'd like for you to do so. But until then, you, and everyone else who still wants to entertain Nezha's age; please stop.
I get it. Some of you like to headcanon him as a child so as such, seeing content with him as romantic or nsfw is uncomfortable. I understand, I do; I headcanon Mei as an aroace lesbian so sometimes it's uncomfortable finding any kind of content with her being paired with others. I do understand where you're coming from with your discomfort.
But I feel like, considering season 5 and hopefully if there's a season 6, the whole thing is just dust now. S3 must've been released in 2022, so it's been nearly two years since Nezha's appearance in the show. People headcanon he's a child, and people prefer to like the confirmation he's an adult. We get it, that's what fandoms are, different views etc.
But calling people proshippers or creepy or pedophiles for not adhering to YOUR headcanons is not only fucking stupid, it's just hilarious and way too old, AND just...boring. Especially considering I feel uncomfortable around minors and hate proshipping with a passion. There's genuinely nothing wrong with liking a headcanon, but if someone likes something that isn't problematic and doesn't adhere to your preference, I think you need to breathe a bit.
I was saving this off for last however, you hit the nail on the coffin with this. There is a literal document talking about the disgusting actions of DynamicSimp. If you still choose to like them that's fine, but forgive me for pointing out how hypocritical it is for you to bring up the person who purposely shared porn with minors to someone who avoids minors like they're the rat plague of the Middle Ages. 🤔
"you talk about DynamicSimp but you're doing worst"
Do you mean writing porn for a character who is confirmed to be an adult? Do you mean ensuring that my 18+ blog isn't found by minors and if it is I'll block them? Do you mean supporting someone who's harassed others about Nezha's age?? Do you mean being an absolute creep around children?? Do you mean breaking the boundaries where people have clearly expressed discomfort? Do you mean romanticizing abuse amongst other things for an au clearly being consumed by minors with no regards or wellbeings?
I wonder who's the worst. Me, the adult who only recently turned 18 and has limited his interaction with minors outside of family members, or the however old they are person who has a literal document and their victims speaking up about their actions, and who to my current knowledge has not spoken up about this and is still posting and carrying on without a care in the world?
Well zoinks Scoob, guess we're not making outta this one alive 😟
Edit: .....*disappointed sighs* I think some people really oughta chill out in my comments. Anon, I blame this on you 😭 why did you bring this here holy fucking shit dawg.
Alright. Alright uh.
Okay, so while I do appreciate being told the reasons as to WHY Nezha was "aged up", because a writer wanted to justify shipping Wukong and Nezha...I feel like the entire, "ah, but this says, and that says here-" about Nezha's age is just ridiculous at this point.
Tumblr media
Yes, I understand, this is justifiably weird.
However.
Has anyone else refuted Nezha's age?? And I mean the canon show writers? Has anyone working on Lego Monkie Kid made a statement saying: "This person is disgusting, LMK Nezha is a child." Because, respectfully, unless canon sources provide information on it, I'm not going off based on the fandom opinions.
I'm not happy I have to edit this post to add this, much less try to explain anything, but, oh well.
1) "Ali, you're just trying to justify yourself and keep writing for a child." Listen. I've been groomed and dealt with fucking weirdos my entire life. Trust me when I say whenever I hear about proshipping it SICKENS me to the core. I HATE proshipping. I don't care what the excuse is, proshipping is disgusting.
I'm not mentioning the interesting fellows in my comments because it's pointless and honestly to make drama over this is stupid. But I was given some context to understand where they're coming from, and I do in fact appreciate it. Justifiably I don't blame them for their annoyance/disgust towards the writer Sarah (?).
What I will say though; typically in a situation like this, I'm certain someone in the team would've made a statement about this to explain that the writer is wrong. I'd assume at least one writer, someone OFFICIALLY on the team would've denied this proclamation of Nezha being an adult. I have not seen ANYTHING that says the show denies Nezha being an adult.
2) My friend, who was also in the comments (hi), is a native Chinese and a Buddhist for six years. I also have another friend who I'm not mentioning but ALSO is Chinese and WORSHIPS Nezha. They have more knowledge than someone like me does have on this matter, and I find it really odd how people immediately cite wiki and website sources to say, "Nezha is an eternal child!", and, "No where else says Nezha is an adult."
As I've said. If there are sources including the staff from Lego Monkie Kid that claims Nezha is a child, then I am more than willing to delete any content I've made with him. Full honesty, I have no intention of keeping any content with canon, confirmed minors on my blog.
But not only have I found anything that says the official story writers deny Nezha's an adult, but my friends, who are again, both Daoist and native Chinese, are aware that he ISN'T an eternal child.
If you are Daoist and/or worship Nezha, then by all means you can tell me that what I'm doing is wrong and correct me about Nezha's age. I'm willing to listen. If you also find information where the writers claim Saraha is wrong for her statement, provide it. I'm a person that likes reasoning, and I'm willing to see reason.
3) "Ali, you're not gonna see reason you're just trying to defend yourself again-"
Okay, backstory time: last year when I joined LMK, when I myself was a minor, I thought it was okay to write nsfw content for the character who was Lady Bone Demon's Host. My friends at the time did not tell me what I was doing was bad, so of course I kept it up, until someone pointed out that Bai He (fan name) is actually a minor in the show and was also confirmed by the show's producers. I felt so disgusted about it I deleted all my posts made on my old AO3 about her (which is faeriicrafts and still up surprisingly) and offered a sincere apology to the fandom about writing nsfw content for her. I changed and learned, and now I feel grossly uncomfortable seeing anyone writing nsfw for her despite the canon confirmations.
Justifiably, if more information about Nezha is released within Lego Monkie Kid, of which it's confirmed he's a child, I am more than eager to delete everything I've written about him, and even apologize again for writing nsfw with a minor.
To be honest, I just feel uncomfortable with the comments who are denying actual Daoists for the sake of; "I've done my research, no other sources has said Nezha is an adult, you're lying about worshipping him!!"
It's uncomfortable and really off-putting how you can tell someone that about their religion. Yes, this is for you specifically, that one commenter who jumped in and on my friend. Even if she has long since stopped worshipping Nezha, she very much did once. And I've gone to actual Daoists to ask more information about Nezha and the religion in general, who has in fact confirmed Nezha isn't just a child. I get that this is the internet, people can lie about anything. But it's still uncomfortable, solely because had anyone else claimed they're Daoist or ex Daoist and agreed with your opinion, you wouldn't have said that.
I'll reopen my comments within a few minutes, but don't be a disrespectful cunt. And can you maybe not deny someone about their religion? Even if you don't believe them, that's genuinely not an excuse. Because I know damn well, had she agreed with your statement, you wouldn't have pulled that.
Gods. I can't say I'm not surprised, but I'm just impressed about the lengths people will go for something.
Anyways, I've said my piece. If official show writers (because my Daoist friends have already told me what I needed to know) claim Nezha is a child, I'll delete my stuff with him. If not, then I'm not stopping posting Nezha content.
Toodles.

LMK Successor AU fic cover art:
Tumblr media
----
Colorless sketch:
Tumblr media
----
Partly colored sketch:
Tumblr media
----
Concept draft:
Tumblr media
What's this AU about?
Q&A:
What is the Successor AU? -An alternate universe where Mei and Mk were born in the same era that Redson was. -Macaque raised Mei, Wukong raised Mk, and Nezha raised Redson. -Story has shadowpeach implications in it. Don't like? Don't read.
What are the changes to this universe? -Shapeshifting and glamour don't exist. Hence why Macaque can't hide his eye or his ears. -Macaque was on the Journey to the West with Wukong -Wukong never killed Macaque in this AU -And other changes, but for the most part, it's the same.
When and Where does it take place? -The story takes place around 95 years after the journey to the west ended. So it takes place in like ancient times. -Takes place in China (supposedly, I mean, I'm assuming the JTTW took place in China.)
Why did Macaque, Wukong, and Nezha raise those three? -I can't answer for Macaque and Mei cuz that's a spoiler. -Nuwa created and gave Mk's stone egg to Wukong as a sort of challenge to see if he could raise a child. (There's more detail to it but that'd be a spoiler.) -Nezha is the god of children, so he took it upon himself to take responsibility for Redson after Princess Iron Fan was put in jail. He calls himself Redson's "older brother."
What's the story summary? -Basically, I just wanted to create a possessive Wukong AU. Most of the story is basically a game of hide and seek. Where, over the years, Wukong tries to find Macaque but keeps just missing him. Redson finds Mk stuck on Flower Fruit Mountain and they bond over time. Mei eventually finds Redson and Mk while she was on her own journey. Read the story to find out what happens!

I think everyone is pissed off about Li Jing due to the actually myth. They don't have the same relationship there. So people have a hard time reconciling that to what they have in the show. Nezha respecting Li Jing because he's his father kinda flies in the face of what his character was. Even in the show, it's weird that it took so long for him to speak against his father.
LMK respects jttw and obviously loves the source material but goes SO far away from its roots when it wants to that when talking about LMK there's kind of no point in going to the og myth, since it feels like people only selectively do that when they want to be mad about something
Fandom is also so weird/off about Nezha to begin with too like don't get me started on the age discourse
That and LMK is not even an adaption of jttw it's an inspired futuristic continuation that purposefully doesn't adhere to the og canon when it doesn't want to
Like hate myth Li Jing all you want
But as far as the text of the show goes I'm like. The dynamic and characters are different and being like "wow the show never fully addresses this emotionally abusive dynamic that destroyed these children's self confidence" is a big What take
The show isn't addressing it because it never happened
And it feels like people just wanted to have a parental figure they could justify hating unconditionally for catharsis but LMK has never cared to give them that and DBK doesn't fit that bill in either LMK or jttw either (yeah in jttw he cheated on Princess Iron Fan but Red Boy also spots that a disguised Wukong isn't DBK because Wukong couldn't remember the details of Red Boy's birth but his father talked about it all the time so like it wasn't Bad there either on a personal level between them)

A! Reborn SWK and LEM's baby girls! And yes, they are pretty much the Eclipse Twins of the Reborn family. Little furry potatos who find the world a little too loud at times.
You look at the little girls, and its very hard not to see their grumpy (but proud) baba. XD
I like the clothing designs! Reborn SWK do be having the nicest clothing out of all the Journey-era monkeys.
And ofc theres Yuebei and Rumble! I adore how you draw hair/fur - it has such nice volume and fluffiness to it!
As always thank you so much for sharing this to me! <3
@quitealotofsodapop number!….uhhhh….number who knows on the list! The twins! I didn’t have enough time to do a full body design digitally so I did the clothes traditionally! Gave them multiple ears bcs I’m guessing these are the eclipse twins in the reborn universe. Anyway if they weren’t supposed to have multiple ears feel free to chew me out abt it. And have some messy trad yuebei and rumble sketches!

Hello!! I would like to do some fanart for the ship children for each of the kids of the wukongverse except I can't really find some descriptions for some of them, like keto and rahu who I think were only mentioned once(??) Do you by chance have a link for them or a tag?
Of course! I always welcome fanart of my aus or ideas! ^♡^
I'll try to do decent descriptions for all ze babies/fan children.
Lego Monkie Kid - Shadowpeach (multiple aus);
Zàoyīn & Bàoliè/"Rumble & Savage" - tiny black-furred baby monkeys with red face masks + Macaque's dark skin. Get into a lot of havoc despite being the size of marmosets. Develop little red "tiger stripes" on their limbs and tails as they get older. Rumble has natural six-ears.
Yuebei Xing - the baby girl herself and star of the SlowBoiled au. Tiniest black furball ever. Big blue eyes (often caused by eating LBD's soul). And a white skull-shaped face marking. Grows to be much taller than either parent. Here's some super cute fanart done by @teatime-at-4 + teenage Yuebei by @soniclozdplove + an older version of her done in the LMK OC Picrew.
Jidu & Luohuo - born shortly after Yuebei, and named for the lunar nodes/phenomena making them the "Nodelets". Furs are a mix of orange and black like tortoiseshell cats. Both have four purple and orange ears. Very mischievous.
Luzhen - technically Wukong's little brother, depending on the au. Looks like a little clone of him, but with deep blue eyes. Loves music.
Ziqi - newest baby idea. Named for the last Lunar phenomena (Perigee/a supposed "shadow planet") not given a character in Journey to the South. Surprise baby. Pure black (like a shadow) with hazy purple eyes, and face marking.
+some lovely human glamour designs made by @soniclozdplovesonic for the Post Jttw Stone Egged au. I praise their work openly, they are amazing.
Monkey King Hero is Back - ReboundedHeroes;
Xiaoyun/"Little Cloud" - born from a mysterious cloud-patterned Stone Egg. Egg was damaged before hatching; causing the right eye, right ear(s), and right arm not to develop correctly. Pure white fluffy fur, like a cloud. Very small and skinny due to being born premature. Very adventurous, gives his parents frequent heart attacks.
Yǔ Sōng & Xuě Bào - Twin girls born sometime into the family's Journey across the kingdoms. Look like little toasted macaroons with six ears each, and violet eyes. Develop their baba's red-auburn when they grow up.
+Shui Lian - Adopted. AU form of the White-Faced Vixen. Due to timeline changes, the "vixen" is rather only a pre-teen kit. Has albinism and is unable to hide her fox ears and tail despite mostly-human form.
Monkey King Reborn - Fruitiedads;
Xiao Qi - Fruitie/Qi Energy reborn as a Stone Monkey egg by sheer willpower. Fur so white it look transparent. Pink skin + pink heart-shaped face marking. Big smiley baby. Looks like a fairytale prince.
Xiao Lü - reincarnation of Yuandi/Primordium created when Nüwa tricked Smokey/SWK into creating a clay figure to house the primordial soul - which became a new stone egg. Pure black fur, light skin, and no noticeable face marking as if yet. Has little grey "shoes" on the fur around her feet - hence the name.
5 False Ginseng Fruit Babies - complete and utter accident on the monkeys part. Smokey tried growing the pit from the Ginseng fruit he ate in hopes that the resulting tree could help reinvigorate the damaged FFM. Liang/LEM watered/tended to the tree while he was gone. It did not in fact bare Ginseng Fruit - but five whole newborn monkey cubs - all named after stone fruits. Current draft of the au places their "fruiting" after the Journey once everyone's come home. More detailed post here.
Lìzhī & Hǎizǎo - Twins. Born at the crux of the Journey. Accidentally delivered inside the Thunderclap Monastery. Look like miniature versions of Smokey, tiny brown furred grumpy things.
+Zhu Yu & Ku Ai / Wood Wolf Siblings - Adopted. The children of Kui Mulang/Revati/Yellow Robed Demon and the Princess Baihuaxiu. After the stray star wolf entity was captured, the Princess wanted nothing to do with her half-wolf children (given that they were conceived in less than ideal circumstances) and the human king wanted them destroyed. The pilgrims take the little werewolves into their group. Older girl and younger boy, both below the age of seven. Mix of brown and grey fur/hair like regular wolf pups. Think the kids from Wolf Children Ami & Yuki.
Monkey King 2023/Netflix - CherryandOliveStones;
Xiaoshi - created when Cherry/SWK wanted to see if he could make "another him" from clay and a pebble after he had learned the story of Nüwa. Clay Egg became a real Stone Egg. Xiaoshi has bright orange fur and light briwn face markings. Rarely doesn't have paint or ink in his fur. Link to some amazing art done by @tsa-smth.
Hǔpò & Zhēnzhū aka "The Pebbles" - natural babies. Look like little clones of their LEM (black fur with white accents) with their dear baba's green eyes.
Luzhen (yes another one) - miniature version of Cherry/SWK. Possible little brother.
New Gods series - Jackpotshipping;
Xiaozhēn - dumpster baby. Possible half-monkey demon. Fluffy brown fur, built like a dad - cus he is one. Is in his 30s demon-wise. Has kids of his own.
Unnamed newborn twins nicknamed "Two Pair" (x) - dark fur and brown eyes. One baby is an attempted changeling - but they aren't sure which one.
Meihouwang 2009 - Peachbuds;
Ketu & Rahu - a pair of twins, one a loose Stone Egg that arrived in a comet, the other an egg formed naturally between the parents (they're all grown up by now ofc). Both have a mix of silver and gold fur, like their parents when they were younger. Rahu has six ears. Here's the post you mentioned!
Smash Legends - FabledConnections;
No definite kids, but I'd imagine they'd be a mix of black and white fur. Like tuxedo cats.
No kids planned for the 1999/2000 Legends cartoon pair (yet)
Thank you so much for your interest in all of this - I try to keep all these ideas under the tag #jttw inspo fan children when I can. If you decide to make fanart for any of these babies (or the parents), make sure to @ me so I can see!

In response to our last poll where Mimi and Jango tied for "best design"/"favorite kid"
Tumblr media
I would imagine that Mimi deserves the "Best Design" part of this poll, and Jango won out in the "Favorite kid" category
Mimi is pretty vain, but she's fine with tying with her younger brother since Jango, in particular, is such a good boy.
While Jango's just happy to be here 😊
Jango refers to Mimi as "dear sister" because she's hates being called "ELDEST" Sister

Ok so I might've gone over time again a lil bit BUT I STILL MADE IT!!!
Tumblr media
"Why is it Nezha? First Mk, then Mei, why Nezha? Shouldn't it be Pigsy or Tang or Red Son? Why are you robbing the less popular characters their spotli-"
SHUSH!!!!
Ok so a reason I made Nezha next, is cause I have an upcoming project due soon and I require our 3rd lotus princey over here to come help me.
Look it's an art thingy and the theme is 'Legacy of the gods' and I did chinese mythology not LMK. As such I couldn't pick an lmk exclusive character like Mk or Mei. Furthermore, since it was about the 'gods' specifically, I'm more focused on the deities and less demons the like.
Also a lot of my project has featured so much JTTW, and I'm sure it definitely will in future...So to break up from that and for a bit of variety, I've added in our lotus friend.
(I mean, I suppose I could've done Chang'e but I just decided Nezha had more myths so he was my best bet)
And I couldn't do Wukong. Cause I'm already doing another piece with him, I made two stickers of him already. They will know I have favorites. And I do, I know I do but damn it if I don't wanna show it so obviously!!!
Actually, originally I had like a list of who I wanted to do and it was mostly like main cast of lmk with some fan favorites/my favs here and there and Nezha was towards the bottom but I moved him up due to the reasons above. And I was going to do Pigsy and Tang today but that's not how things turned out, I'll still do them just everyone's gonna have to be moved up in the list now.
Don't ask me what kinda cake it is, if I had to guess some kinda cheesecake with like a thin layer of jelly on top. The pink/red contributes to his main color scheme and the blue jelly makes it look like a pond and all the decorations and lotuses on top look like they're floating in water.
And I suppose it's different from Mk and Mei's cause like the KNY arts have different cakes sometimes why not do the same for these guys? And Nezha is a prince, and the patron god of children! I think he deserves something nice. (I used Giyu's cake for reference)
The filling is strawberries again, hopefully better drawn this time and actually sakura petals instead of lotus ones. I don't know why I used sakura petals, the color is more like lotuses but the shape is inspired after sakura so maybe it's a hybrid.
I do enjoy that it is more detailed than the previous two (especially since I'm using it for a project-)
I actually had a lot of trouble thinking of the sugar cookies cause there's not much associated with Nezha other than his lotus theme and his weaponry. Like at least Mei had her sword and her dragon insignia in different styles! I didn't wanna just do lotuses for like 3 times so I did his universal ring and that golden brick from that one episode. And yes, that brick is an actual thing in the mythos, it's not just a quick visual gag.
I did copy paste the frosting swirls and shells from Mei, don't @ me pls they just looked cool, I needed something to jush up the cake and COME ON THEY LOOK COOL HOW COULD I NOT
No I did not change the color but the minty green broke up all the pink and gold nicely, I think...
I did add the lotus flower and that green thing that triggers ur tripophobia is a lotus fruit. So for those who don't know, lotuses are edible! Not water lilies though. There's a difference. And lotuses can be made into lotus jam and it's delicious! I do recommend trying a lotus jam bao at least once.
Now I know Nezha is a chinese deity and mochi/dango is japannese but Idk what other desert to use and I didn't feel tanghulu fit the vibe...
But yea, those are his flaming fire wheels he skates on, that's why they're on fire, no it's not the rings of the samadhi fire. (I'll be saving that for RS) though now, I do wish I'd just done the outline in a darker shade to make it look like it was an actual image grilled into the mochi rather than a sticker slapped on.
The sneks! Omg! I almost forgot about them! But yea, those are the golden serpent shears we saw in that one episode. They are a bit last minute but I think they turned out decently well. Lil bleps.
Then we have the fire tipped spear and yes, that is Ao Bing. I'm sorry, I know I said I shipped them, and I still do (I see lmk nezha as both mentally and physically an adult don't try me) but damn that idea popped into my head and it was funny. He's fine...I think
(also funny to think Mei's is all dragon oriented and here's Nezha and Ao bing like bleep)
The reason the ribbon is so long is cause it's the goddamn armillary sash that Nezha uses, and it's its own canon magic thing, why not let it be longer and yes I did add some white detail but I just thought it looked more finished and it's a celebration! Let him be festive!
I really like the pose like Nezha receiving a lil present. I think he's the kind of person to not expect presents but be pleasantly surprised at them.
And btw that balloon has lily pads, it's not a globe. I know they should be elevated for lotuses but I can't exactly make the leaves pop out.
So later today should be Tang and pigsy hopefully!
(Also I've noticed a trend in general lmk posts. Ships, duos, trios basically anything with a relationship of some kind always do better than just one character so if I had to guess this like my other birthday posts won't do that well)
Oh and @leesbian42, before I forget, happy almost birthday! If I remember correctly you're turning like 24 right?

AAAAH!! THIS IS SO GOOD!! It always stunsne when people just make stuff inspired by my ramblings! /positive
I love the details on Red Girl's dress and her hair, and ofc Xiaoshi painting and twirling his brushes to the beat of her improv poem. <3
That feel when you're both the kids of super-powerful entities, everyone is afraid of you, and you're both dorks.
+I love how Red Girl almost towers over Xiaoshi, like a pillar of flames. And he's a messy monkey boy, madly in love.
I love the ship name ideas too. The feel when your gf an endless source of free charcoal for art + she uses her flames to write out cute af messages in wood.
You make a pretty picture

FANART DROP RAHHH💥💥
My latest fandom craze: Lego Monkie Kid! Especially after Season 4.
season 4. I'm not the biggest fan of Season 5, but slowly im easing into it.
(HE SAID 'DONT MAKE ME DO THIS'HFJASJK)
coughAnyway.
With this new obsession, naturally comes obsessively reading fanfiction. AND GUESS WHO FOUND A GEM.
Or, perhaps.. an Emerald? (wink)(kill me)
The Green Eyed Macaque is a fic written by ChristyKitty
TOTALLY CHECK THEM OUT!!
As of writing this, 15 chapters are currently out, and the tail end of the 15th one is what finally drove me over the edge to draw them silly!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Had to practice drawing Macaque and the Mayor, so it'll explain the shitty quality n lil unfinished mayor head lmao/
Now, I know what Author PROBABLY meant with the tail is probably just.. the tip of it nudging the Mayor up. BUT I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT CURLING AROUND AND CHOKING HIM. THE VOICES.
Nobody can convince me that the Mayor wouldn't act smug even with a tail wrapped around his throat.
(Rip Macaque's children, I had to cut them outta the scene to draw these two mainly.)
The right was more of a practice sketch for Macaque, n thats why its kinda shitty- BUT YOU CAN TELL WHAT KINDA POSE I WAS IMAGINING FOR THE SCENE RIGHT??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's some progress pics I took of em!! I had sm struggle with the hand placement.
Like, I KNEW it where it was supposed to be?? but idk how to connect it properly???
Tumblr media
Here's a little extra, if you've reached all the way down here! A little WIP of my current sketches. YES!! I am not done!! But I decided to just throw what I've got up to feed em something!!
Clearly trying to redo the hair thing (this time w a proper reference..)
The right one is more a personal hc-but-not-rlly scenario. Like, just imagining it. (I.e: What if Wukong could see Reader through Gold Vision? [Mac: "Look at me, do I look like the Six-Eared Macaque?"]) Since I'm too lazy to go reread ALL of the 1st part of the series for Reader Lore, I skimmed through the last chapter to jog any memories and went from there
Reader can't shapeshift, only cast illusions(which I'm assuming is the same thing as glamour just more widespread). Which would mean they're still the same person underneath all that. Gold Vision.. uh, well idk exactly what gold vision can do(didn't exactly finish JTTW) but if hypothetically it COULD see through illusions...
Could Wukong see through mac's illusions? What would he see? The Six-Ears Macaque, or Mac's ACTUAL self?

I like Tripitaka's story, but I feel like many LMK fans don't know it. In his past, is where all the differences he has with Xuanzang are noticeable. They are not the same person. He was not born in the same year (important because the Xuanwu Gate incident is a canonical event in JTTW). And they did not travel West in the same year or under the same circumstances. Tripitaka traveled with permission from the emperor, Xuanzang traveled illegally as his documentation was not authorized by Taizong. Sanzang's mother is the daughter of Yin Kaishan, a historical general who had no children and was not related to Xuanzang. There are so many differences that it is difficult to say that they are the same person. Their names are spelled differently in Chinese and even Wikipedia says so. But I think people skip that episode. One last thing, it's a nice episode to read and has interesting concepts that could be used in fanfic or for research.

You said that the execution of S4 failed, so how should it have been or what were the steps that should be followed? Genuine interest. Might help anyone who is writing about Jttw.
Basically: Extraordinary twist requires extraordinarily good explanations, and the big honcho of the Celestial Realm getting killed by a Bodhisattva's cat is one such twists. Yet it isn't explained properly other than JE's vague statement that "his time is up".
(Is this an attempt at alluding to the concept of "Peril" (劫), something even immortals and celestials must endure in order to continue existing, and the Buddhist idea that beings of the Path of Heaven are still not free from the cycle of life and death, however near-infinite their lifespan is?)
(If so, then SAY IT.)
But my biggest issue is the huge Show-not-Tell problem regarding the corruption of the Celestial Realm.
Like, due to the influence of 1961 Havoc in Heaven and the "SWK as peasant rebel" reading that became the dominant narrative during the Maoist era, the Celestial Realm ("feudal" regime), as well as the Buddha and the Buddhist pantheon (religion), get demonized a lot in Chinese JTTW media.
Through that lens, Havoc in Heaven is the story of a grassroot hero fighting against a huge, ancient, corrupt institution, and either winning or losing, and even when he loses, it's the crushing of a revolutionary martyr by the old reactionaries: tragic, but the nobleness and righetousness of his goal is never in doubt.
(I dislike the "class warfare" reading too. A lot, in fact. But that's a story for another day.)
Which is what LMK S4 seems to be going for…and where it flounders.
Like, a Chinese viewer has that context, because most of our popular JTTW adapations dial up the Celestial Realm's prejudice against SWK and its corruption to some extent, as a justification for Havoc in Heaven.
A western viewer who hasn't watched the '61 film, or the '86 TV show, or the '99 cartoon, doesn't have that context, and LMK's oddly empty Celestial Realm that seemed to be populated entirely by Nezha, JE and nameless NPC soldiers doesn't help in the slighest.
(As a JTTW novel liker, my personal opinion is that book!Celestial Realm, even though it is not cartoonishly evil, still sucks ass, and the JE is a typical, mediocre dynastic ruler who's good at upholding the status quo, but extremely petty and vicious to subjects who have personally offended him, like Sha Wujing or the governor of Fengxian Prefecture.)
(They did show more leniency to SWK pre-Havoc in the book than in most modern adaptations, however, despite their fuck-ups.)
And that's how you get fans claiming "SWK never wants the Havoc in Heaven!"
After all, we haven't seen the Celestial Realm being assholes, or, y'know, subjecting a prefecture to an eternal-in-all-but-name drought until people sold their children for three bushels of grains and were driven to cannibalism, because the governor spilled JE's offerings and fed them to the dogs (novel canon, btw), and Nezha seems like a nice guy! How bad could the regime be, really?
Like, you can absolutely show a rebellion falling apart, becoming corrupted from the inside, causing just as much damage to the commoners as the regime they are fighting, and rebels who are far from heroic.
Or how popular rebellions like these were against the corrupt officials and laws, but seldom the emperor himself, and even those that did aim at deposing an emperor were about putting their guy of choice on the dragon chair, instead of dealing away with the dynastic system itself.
Yet the grievances behind those rebellions were also 100% real. The corruption, the abuse of power, the massive human sufferings that led to armed uprisings thoroughout Chinese history, many of which failed while others became the last straw that toppled a dynasty.
And that part, I feel, is neither shown well nor explored properly.
