I'm coming to the conclusion that no one cares about Reuben Price half as much as I do because where the HELL is all his fan content????? Like, of course, there's SOME, but there's not nearly enough.

Coming up upon the Price episode and I’m so not okay. Chip is literally 19 which is barely older than me and is shows so much especially when this happens and it’s only been like a year since he killed that one dude and burned down prices home. I’m shaking, boys.

hello once again jrwi tumblr. I am stuck with horrible uncurable brainrot for the riptide characters. However I also have horrible uncurable brainrot for the falsettos musical which is nothing new. I'm listening to it while I write and I got to the song "A marriage proposal/ A tight-knit family (reprise)" and it's the part in the long if people aren't familiar in which Marvin and Mendel are fighting over Mendel and Trina's marriage. Now I'm less thinking about this with the plot of the musical and more so lyrically, and with the recent information regarding Price and Captain Rose and what that means for Chip. In this specific part of the song I can see Chip being Mendel and Price being Marvin if he were to find out about Rose being his father. the lyrics go: [Marvin/Price] But nothing's impossible [Mendel/Chip] Look who's got power

The banter of the part itself is what initially drew me to seeing it as the two of them as having both of them in a room is a horrible idea, but the idea of Price realizing that the little kid that screwed him over after inviting him into his gang was more of a son to his estranged father than he ever had the opportunity to be stings. Though this sucks for Price, he honestly has it coming from what we know of him he's acutually horrible, so it'd make sense for Chip to have this sneakiness in this hypothetical conversation. The black rose was always his family, but Rose was literally meant to be Price's family, which is why the lines I just got a family/The family was mine is so interesting to me in this situation.

Also I feel like the shared lines are really important as they're both things I feel like both Chip and Price are aware of. The lines share this bitterness for both each other and themselves that it feels fitting.

Anyways I just can't recommend falsettos enough that musical has my heart fully. Not to mention Chip and his recent situation as you gotta die sometime from act 2. I saw someone else posting about it awhile ago when I was thinking of it too, I see you, we see the same thing, yes. I have so many thoughts geez. I love forcibly combining my interests.

Captain Gill

With how much OG Chip’s design changes over the course of Riptide I thought it would be cool to do a more mid-campaign design of Gill. The scribbles on his arm are supposed to be lightning tattoos that would parallel chips water ones, they seem like a cool way that gill could show his oath to the open sea, inspired by Finn. Unsure if he would have a prosthetic pinkie but i added it for now until the details of what happens at each island is figured out. I hc that the ship they were on before the albatross would go from the Big Chipper to like Destiny’s Tide or smth like that.

the designs are so fun argh also i can totally imagine Jay’s armour getting more like mechanical if that aspect of her is still there

Caspian aka Captain Trench

I’m not the best at designing but wanted to have fun drawing a sinister little Caspian. Notable things are the feathers that Price had in his design is flowing water, which is actually also his water whip that he can magically summon the handle for. Also had him and Gill have matching scars across the nose because its fun 💥

Captain Ruben of the Navy

Kept his missing eye and thought the backstory behind it could change so that he lost it in some sort of fight, so the navy replaced it with a magical one and now he uses it as the main weapon in combat (it shoots beams n shit). Initially just drew him in a looser brain but maybe a bun would be more fitting since its more practical. (Far left image is him as a kid)

Origins headcanons

So obviously, in this swapped au Gill and Chip/Bellamy would meet first. Here, Bellamy works as a bartender and is curious about this trion that claims to have been on the same crew as Arlin, but not enough to answer honestly to any of Gill’s questions. So Gill tries to prove his worth by making Bellamy a drink that he hasn’t had before: a squirty! Thats what I thought of last night at least there could def be a cooler things for them to do,,

Jay having been brought up very isolated on Fetherbrook, she is not used to seeing people like Gill, so upon her first instinct she assumes he’s some sort of monster and shoots at him (to Chip’s amusement.)

I will surely draw more of this AU as it gets fleshed out but these are all my insane ramblings as of right now

Based on how grizzly acted it seems that Felipe forgot he hated gillion, like I didn’t sense any passive aggressiveness from him directed to the fish man or anything else to suggest he still hated him- we saw before in the faewild how open he was about it even while he was with gillion in the carnival

But remember Price? The whole little escapade chip went on? What he did to Price? Wasn’t he going to get revenge on chip? Doesn’t he have an enchanted eye (although cursed, we saw a demonstration of its power)? If it is him I just wonder how he got there- I believe he’s the only one with truly malicious intent that could have done that- I mean, they were gone for 2 weeks, its possible that Price found where chip’s crew was but not them themselves because of where they were- and Price seems the type to have revenge in style-

The end of one arc to enter another full of hurt oh boy- next week can’t come any sooner
