I love Britney's Joy of Pepsi/Joy of Cola commercial so much! A total bop of a song, and the video is to die for - they really don't make commercials like it anymore <3 <3 So happy that people have rediscovered it and the fact that it's going to be re-aired as part of Pepsi's 125 years celebration during the VMAs in the US <3

It just struck me that somewhere there’s someone whose favorite Britney Spears song is “The Joy of Pepsi” and they listen to it in their car.

Thinking abt the other day I was shopping w/ my dad and I was looking for the diet cherry pepsi (which they didn’t have) and I was abt to just not get anything when my dad looks at me and says,
“As if you need to diet.”
And puts the full-sugar cherry Pepsi into the card 💀💀

the thing is that i do get more happiness from having things than using them. like its not a trick of anxiety for me it's just a truth. i grew up always feeling so vigilant that i had to use things as soon as i got the opportunity or it would be snatched away, constantly. if i had a good meal in front of me i had to eat until it hurt because who knows when i would get another one because i was fucking poor, i had to hoard candy and soda and bread with real flour in it instead of fucking nasty gummy budget gluten free shit and make it last because my parents didn't allow it because it would make me more autistic, i had to snap up peers goodwill to be seen with me because they knew i was autistic and even if it was pity it was anything, i had to spend my money as soon as i got it because my brother was a kleptomaniac, so like, now the luxury in the security that if i need something i HAVE it, i don't have to squirrel food away and count how many days i can make it last because im not being deprived of it anymore and i dont have to treat every new person i meet like the world will end if they think im embarrassing and gross because i have people who dont think about me that way now, like eventually id like to be able to like fully square my actual needs with the things i want to have instead of just wanting to have things for the feeling of safety in having them, but for now just being able to have things without it sending me into a panic over when theyll end is still something that feels so fresh and new so im not trying to push it. i feel like im justified in savoring that

The way my schedule goes, I’m actually fine eating at 9 or 10pm, but I always forget that my sense of taste is on its way out by then.
If I’m going to cook, I’ll have to push myself to start earlier so that I don’t spend two hours cooking only for it to taste salty and vaguely sour and nothing else.

Keep believing you can make a difference
The hope we had at the beginning for humanity is gone.
The joy we had at the beginning because finally the Western world understood what was happening in Gaza for years...gone
Any respect we had for the modern world? A joke.
Any respect I had for Egypt and Arabs? Replaced by so much shame, I no longer will defend them.
The only hope we have left is Allah and ourselves.
Keep praying. Keep posting. Keep boycotting. And if you can, start your own revolution.
If you live in a country that won't take you to jail for it, make a stand. Take a walk with a sign. Raise your voice in a conference.
Boycotting works!
In Egypt, it was the least we can do. And the changes were insane. McDonald's was throwing statements left and right about how the branches in Egypt had nothing to do with supporting Israel. Their sales still plummeted by 70% ! Their branches are virtually empty except from tourists.
Pepsi ? They had to rebrand by multiple different names to foul people into buying! And Coca-Cola is worse.
Small businesses went up by 300% in profits. A local soda producer that replaced Pepsi had to even go in public and ask the people to wait because he can't keep up with the demand.
That's boycotting. A small dent in the system, but still a difference. McDonald's in Jordan promised to send donations to Palestine. Others simply stopped supporting Israel in public.
I believe we need a more aggressive way of protesting. I don't mean violence. Just something to shake the system more... vigorously?
Do what you can. Please. Children's lives depend on it.
Stand on the right side of history. Find something to answer Allah on judgment day

This was the place to be in the late 70s. You never knew who you'd see there. What a lovely trip down memory lane. The things that went on there.... let's just say that they didn't serve Pepsi 😉😁😍
