BOOK REVIEW
The Art of Running Away Sabrina Kleckner @sabkleckner-blog Jolly Fish Press @jollyfishpress Published November 16, 2021
Maisie is passionate about art. She spends hours in Glenna’s , the familial art shop. But one evening, her world collapses, as her parents tell her she will spend the summer in Scotland, with an aunt she never met before. Little does she know that this foreign adventure will allow her to reunite with her brother, who ran away from home when she was six.
I loved the relationship between twelve-year-old Maisie and her big brother Calum. It is absolutely sweet, and feels at the same time so reel. I was deeply touched by how they learn to know each other after many years of silence. I was impressed by how the author subtly included the LGBT topic : with simple words she goes through what it means to be an ally, and how feeling different can sometimes hurt. The Art of Running Away is a book meant to be shared, and talked about, especially between adult and younger readers. It is a discussion opener, not only about LGBT topics, but also about what makes you, YOU. Young Maisie is passionate about art, but has a hard time finding what her path is. She grows a lot during the novel, both emotionally and mentally.
I loved the Art of Running away so much ! This middle grade novel will speak to the art of many readers. It is Sabrina Kleckner's first novel, and what a debut novel ! This book has everything, from being extremely well written, having wonderful characters, to discussing difficult topics. I will certainly look into Sabrina’s future books !

jollyfishpress replied to your post “WHO HAS SEEN MAZE RUNNER MOVIE PLEASE POST THIS WE NEED ANSWERS PLEASE PEOPLES CHIME IN HOW YOU FEEL WHAT YOU SAW”
I haven't seen it yet, but here's a Buzzfeed article that outlines the differences between the book and the movie. http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariellecalderon/things-you-wont-see-in-the-movie-adaptation-of-maze-runner#1e7arjb
yes! Thank you. Basically this whole article is one big spoiler, but if you've already read the books and are interested in what they changed, this will lay it out for you. I will admit it has made me SIGNIFICANTLY less excited about the movie in general.

I'm pleased to be part of cover reveal for The Truth About Everything by Bridget Farr @bridgetfarrwrites @fluxbooks @jollyfishpress Release Date: October 11, 2022 Cover designer: Maggie Villaume Cover illustrator: Millie Liu Illustrator’s agency: Astound Cover designer: Maggie Villaume Author’s Note on Cover: The image that sparked this novel was a girl holding a gutted fish wondering how it breathes, so I was instantly hooked by Millie Liu’s initial sketch of this cover. The revealed gears in place of internal organs combine the protagonist Lark’s mastery of the mechanical world with her ignorance of the physical one. Even though we know the image is wrong, the parts fit so easily together it makes the viewer momentarily question the truth. This cover is beautiful, stark, and a bit unsettling—everything I hope this novel is, too! Short Synopsis: “Homeschooled” teenager Lark secretly attends high school, against the wishes of her conspiracy-theorist-Doomsday-prepping parents. Read full synopsis in comment. Many thanks to @jollyfishpress for e-copy via #NetGalley 𝙇𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙧𝙤𝙥 𝙁𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙗𝙮 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙠 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lemon Drop Falls is touching and moving middle grade fiction that revolves around 12 yrs old Morgan learning to live life after her mother’s death. The story is about coping with loss and grief, new transition in life, friendship, anxiety, family, and hope. The story is written in first person narrative from Morgan’s POV with ‘After’ and ‘Before’ chapters which works really well telling readers how Morgan’s life was with her mother and how her mother’s death changed her and her life. It made Morgan’s voice more realistic and easy to root for. Every aspect of this book is so well written. This is mainly character driven story but there is so much in the story. All characters are realistic and relatable. I loved the way the author gave them all depth and layers. Tone of the story is heavy and serious because of its theme and plot that made story realistic and relatable. I loved the message from the story in this part about life’s uncertainty, things about planning, how if one plan fails take the fall and rebounce to new plan in life, sharing feelings with loved ones, forgiveness and adjust with changes in life and sit back to see how it’s taking shape. Morgan’s talk with her father just before end brought tears in my eyes. It is my most favorite moment in entire book. Overall, Lemon Drop Falls is touching, sensitive, realistic, relatable, and beautifully written middle grade fiction. I highly recommend this if you like, story about loss and grief character dealing with anxiety vulnerable adults in middle grade story realistic and relatable situations importance of discussing heavy topic and feelings transition to junior high and what it means for person of this age . . A gorgeous #CoverReveal for Flip Turns by Catherine Arguelles Flux - @jollyfishpress 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: After 13-year-old Maddie tells Lucas she doesn’t want to date him, a string of vandalism breaks out at her family’s community pool. Worried it’s her “admirer” getting even, Maddie and her friend, Ez, launch their own investigation. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿’𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿- In FLIP TURNS, 13-year old Maddie is solving more than one mystery! She's unraveling the case of who's vandalizing her family's community pool, but she's also working through the complications of how to get one boy to leave her alone, and how to have a crush on another one, as well as dealing with friendships and swim races and managing her anxiety. I love how the cover artist shows Maddie's confused and curious emotions so clearly on her face and in the way she's holding the unwanted snow globe. I also love how the colors and design of the cover just feels like summer! Disclaimer : I received e-copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. Tia Lugo Speaks No Evil by Danette Vigilante Publication Date : August 17th 2021 Publisher : Jolly Fish Press Genre : Middle Grade / Mystery Pages : 208 Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 This was interesting Middle Grade mystery that revolved around Tia witnessing a murder that changed her life and filled with paranoia. The story was about friendship, family, honesty, trust, fear, belief, hope, not letting fear control you, courage, and love. Writing was lucid, fast paced and atmospheric with apprehension and fear character felt. Tia was interesting character. She had asthma and author represented kid with asthma really well. her development was really late in the book. And yet I liked how she realised keeping things in and letting fear rule herself and her life wasn’t going to keep her or her family safe. Tia and her family were Latinx who believed in botanica and all spiritual things. It was important aspect of the story. I liked the message in the book about burden of carrying secret, not letting fear rule you, and strength one need to have courage and face the problem are there within everyone without need of spiritual things. Why 3.4 or 4 stars - I was little disappointed with main character. It was frustrating after certain points in the story. I felt there was too much focus or Tia’s paranoia making the story a little melodramatic. Overall, Tia Lugo Speaks No Evil was unique and enjoyable middle grade mystery with well written cultural aspect. You will enjoy this if you like, Latinx culture middle grade murder mystery good message for young readers Atmospheric plotline 𝙌𝙊𝙏𝘿 : Which is your favourite book feature character with Asthma or any heath condition? #TiaLugoSpeaksNoEvil #DanetteVigilante #MiddleGrade #Mystery #diversebook #Latinxculture #JollyFishPress #NorthStarEditions #bookstagrammer #bookishlife #bookishmom #bookaesthetic #fiction #BookReview #BooksTeacupandReviews #bookrec #bookreviewblog #Indianbookstagram #IndianBookBlogger #bookreviewercommunity #bookcommunity #bookgram #bookishlovegroups #igread (at Ahmedabad, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSqoJdRg6BT/?utm_medium=tumblr
