After seeing all of the backlash and negativity online against Austin being cast as Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming "American Psycho" film, here's just a friendly reminder of how the internet reacted back in 2006 when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker in Christopher Nolan's film "The Dark Knight". 😏

The way people wanted Johnny Depp, Crispin Glover, Mark Hamill (what?? 🥴 Lol) or Christopher Walken lol.

The way people were saying that nobody would ever beat Jack Nicholson's portrayal of The Joker lol...🤭 all while not realizing that Nolan had a totally different vision in mind for his Batman film.

Does this all sound familiar??

Guess who got the last laugh? 😏

I don't know why people online don't just trust casting directors and let them do their jobs? 🥴 If Luca chose Austin for the role, it's for a good reason. Most people need to just trust the directors, because 9 times out of 10, they are 100% spot on with their casting choices, and they choose the best actor for a lead role, even if the public can't see that yet.

I also don't understand why people assume that just because an actor hasn't done a particular role before, that they should never do that type of role ever in life. How do you think other actors got to do those roles? They all had to start somewhere!

Anyway, reading these reactions to Heath being cast as The Joker back in 2006, and then knowing how he absolutely killed it in the film (to the point where he's now the standard) gives me the biggest chuckle. 🤣 I can't believe people were so rude back then.

Moral of the story? - Trust the Directors, people. They cast actors for certain roles for a reason. People online need to just sit back and trust the process.

Austin is an amazing talent, very dedicated, hard-working, and gives 110% to any role (no matter how small) he's given. I have full trust in him that he will actually probably shock people with this "American Psycho" role. 😊

He's always said that he loves to take on roles that challenge or scare him, so I'm so glad he's getting this chance to work with Luca! 😁
