Ribbons
Ribbons I cut the ribbons from my life to mark the pagesof the loves that made me cry, of the sleeplessnights knowing everyone has gone, from fieldsemptied over many years. I bravely look on. I wonder, will you remember my warm hand onyour hand, cooling as you slept away from me,the ribbon that kept us together now in a boxon my desk. The color of my life without you. I learned how to not grow…

The gofundme for SpyBoy's medical bills has stalled out at $430 of the $5200 we need. My husband is applying for jobs, and has a couple of interviews lined up, but...we're hurting. I have a large collection of books...signed first editions, fancy leather bound limited editions, etc. I'm going to be listing them for sale on ebay soon. If you see something you're interested in, let me know and we'll talk price and details. Signed and numbered limited edition leather bound John Varley, signed Mercedes Lackey, signed and numbered Poppy Z. Brite, signed Harlan Ellison, and more!

Whenever I watch John Waters’ films or read a Harlan Ellison book, I can’t help but wonder if they ever met. Sometimes, I even imagine whether they could have been friends—maybe with Harlan even striking up a friendship with Divine. Honestly, if they ever did cross paths or become friends, I’d love nothing more than to get high with them and dive into the most out-of-pocket conversations imaginable.

It's solstice night again, and time to recount the books I've best loved over the past year.

On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World, by Danya Ruttenberg (2022)
Shirley Estar Goes to Heaven, by Winston Rowntree (2024)
My favourites
But I loved a few books even more: books which touched me more, taught me more, more valuably rewired my brain, and reminded me just how good a book can be. Sentence and solaas, baby.
Here — once again, in order of their first publication — were my ten favourite books I read in 2024.
Gaudy Night, by Dorothy L. Sayers (1935)
Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison (1952)
The Quiet American, by Graham Greene (1955)
