Frostbite - Dec. 3rd - word count: 277 - @wolfstarmicrofic
The world was quiet, muffled under a thick blanket of snow that stretched across the cemetery.
Trees stood bare, their skeletal branches trembling in the icy wind.
Sirius Black sat on the frozen ground, the cold seeping through his coat and into his bones. Next to him stood a simple headstone.
Remus John Lupin, beloved friend, scholar, and soul.
The noiret didn’t know how long he’d been there. Hours, maybe. Long enough for the sun to sink below the horizon, leaving behind a wash of gray twilight and the sharp bite of winter air.
His fingers were numb, but he didn’t care. What were numb fingers to a numb life?
“You’d call me an idiot,” he muttered, his breath misting in the air. “Sitting out here like this. You’d tell me to go inside, make some tea, stop wallowing.”
“I thought we had more time,” he continued, voice cracking. “It wasn’t fair.”
“Sirius.”
The voice startled him. Sirius turned to see James standing a few paces away, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his coat.
“It’s freezing out here,” he said. “You’ll get frostbite if you stay any longer.”
The dog animagus sighed. “I’m fine, James.”
“No, you’re not.” His best friend stepped closer, his boots crunching in the snow. “Come with me, mate. Please.”
“I can’t leave him,” Sirius whispered.
James sighed, crouching beside him. “You’re not leaving him, Padfoot. He’s not going anywhere. You’re wasting away, Sirius. He wouldn’t want that. You know he wouldn’t.”
The older man’s shoulders sagged. “It’s not fair, Prongs. It wasn’t supposed to end like this.”
“I know,” James said quietly. “But sometimes, it's better to move on.”

happy new years! starting 2025 by finishing this fic :)
ch9 the wrong john | masterlist
john price x f!reader, reader is johnny’s twin
-
“You dropped my hand.”
“Ye lied t’ me.”
You both frown with the same half-slant.
The doctor later found Johnny had some Vitamin D deficiency from his captivity, so you’ve been allowed to wheel him around the hospital garden for strictly one hour, IV still attached. You find a bench to sit on, parking his chair next to you so you can both stare at the ducks in the pond.
“I didn’t mean to lie to you, Johnny. I just- didn’t think it would get this serious.” He snorts. After all these years, he can still tell when you’re lying. One duck is chasing the other around the pond, wings flapping as they play fight.
“So yer only apologizin’ cuz I found out? Not a good start, hen.” You drag your hands down your face, pressing your palms into your eye sockets until your vision goes black. “We hooked up the night before I came to base. And I thought, big whoop, maybe I’ll tell Johnny so he’ll get off my back about being single, except the guy didn’t even leave a note, so I just look desperate. And then you opened that door and he was your fucking captain! My game plan got fucked.”
You release your hands so you can see again. The ducks are cuddling at the edge of the pond. You sneak a look at Johnny and he’s staring straight ahead, unseeing. “Ye said it was me an’ you. That’s what ye said.” You let out a bitter laugh at his words. “I thought that’s what it would be. I told him at lunch that it wouldn’t work, that I couldn’t do that to you. So at that point, it was just me and you. But then I left and he started calling and he’s just terribly sweet and cocky and I hate it. And then you were gone.”
It’s the first time he’s looked at you since. It’s just a turn of the head, but his eyes are duller than usual and wet with emotion. “Wasn’t my choice, hen.” You give him a watery smile. “I know. This wasn’t my choice either. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, but I’m not sorry that it’s him.” You reach over to squeeze his hand and he lets you, but he doesn’t squeeze back. “Price can be a persuasive bastard when he wants to be.” The same laugh escapes both of you. The ducks are swimming side by side now, circling the pond.
“Still don’t get why ye didn’t tell me.” It’s the bit you’ve been circling around for a while now. You don’t answer for a second, choosing to pick at a hangnail on your thumb. Johnny’s hand covers yours, stopping your bad habit. “I didn’t want to ruin this for you. I thought What will happen to Johnny if we break up? I couldn’t ruin your new family, not after everything that happened with ours.” He squeezes your hand and you try to ignore the bandages around his wrists. “Yer my family too, m'eudail. The first of the one I choose.”
A singular tear escapes your eyes, trailing down your face until it plops onto your lap. You turn your hand so it links with his, squeezing back. “Even though you have Simon?” Instead of answering your question, he asks one back. “Even though ye’ve got Price?” Fair enough. You lean your head on his shoulder and he dips to kiss your forehead. “Of course.” You’re not sure who says it, but it doesn’t really matter.
“I’m sorry I hurt you, Johnny.” He leans his head against yours. “What’s a sister fer?” You roll your eyes, glad to have your brother back. “Dinnae kiss him in front of me. It’s gross.” You shove him off of you, then get up to wheel him back. “You’re so annoying. Don’t pretend I don’t see you and Simon snogging after he yells at people.” The two MacTavishes bicker all the way back to hospital, ducks long forgotten.
-
When you get back from the hospital, John’s doing paperwork in his office. Alone, thankfully. “Go well, sweetheart?” You nod shyly, taking the chance to explore his office. It’s neat but lacks personal effects. There’s only a few pictures, mainly of him in combat gear with various members of the task force. Except there’s a small frame closer to his actual desk that doesn’t fit the theme. It’s a woman sleeping, face half tucked into the pillow. Her back is bare but the picture’s only shoulder up, sparing any real nudity. The hair looks familiar and as you squint, you realize something. He keeps a picture of you in his office.
“When did you take this?” He barely looks up, tugging you into his lap as he continues writing with his other hand. “Yesterday. You looked pretty.” You press your forehead against his sternum, hands folded in your lap. “That was after I cried and then was covered in your cum.” He grunts, pulling you closer into his lap. “‘xactly. Pretty.” You sigh against him. His body’s so protective, muscled with a slight layer of fat that allows you to nuzzle in further. It’s like he works out everyday but doesn’t turn down dessert. You love it.
“You must like me a lot to deal with all this family drama.” It’s mainly a joke, just something to fill the silence. Instead, he drops his pen, pulling you off him so you’re eye-to-eye. Large paws capture your face, his thumbs smoothing your cheeks. “Not jus’ like, baby. ‘S a lot more than that.” Your eyes widen. His are serious, moving fast as they track your every facial expression. “Not just like?” He shakes his head. A few months ago, you would have left the conversation there. After your talk with your brother though, you feel courage seep through your veins.
“What is it, then?” His thumb brushes against your lip, pulling the bottom one until he releases it. Like he’s making sure you’re real, giving you time to take it back. “Love. ‘ve known for a while now, that I love you. There’s no pressure, sweetheart, I jus’ wanted you to know.” It’s the kindest out he’s ever given you. Fortunately, you don’t need it.
“I love you too, John. And I’m sorry for insinuating you weren’t enough for me to date. You’re everything.” He captures your lips in a slow kiss. You pour everything into it: the I’m sorry’s and Thank you’s. His hands stay on your jaw like he’s afraid to let you go. You skim down the breadth of his shoulders, the definition of his biceps, memorizing the feel. “You make me goddamn crazy, you know that?” You smile against his confession, sinking your hands into his hair. “Ditto.” You pull back from his lips to kiss his cheek, his nose, his forehead. You pepper his face until there’s not an inch unkissed and his cheeks flush red under the full force of your affection. “I love you.” It’s freeing to say, to finally give a name to this feeling. “I love you, sweetheart. Lemme finish this paperwork an’ I’ll take you to bed.” You tuck yourself under his chin and let him work.
John proposes that night and you turn him down. Well, you tell him to give you a year. You don’t know he’s got the date marked in his calendar.
-
Unfortunately, one year falls on the day of Johnny and Simon’s wedding. John might be lovesick, but he’s not dumb enough to propose at a wedding. Especially his future brother-in-law’s. He’s officiating, staring at his sweetheart in the front row as he marries two of his men. They promise to love and cherish each other for eternity, and even John can’t help the tear that falls after they kiss. What can he say, he’s a sentimental bastard.
As expected, the party lasts long into the night. Johnny and Kyle rule the dance floor with Johnny occasionally dragging his twin to join them. John and Simon sip whiskey on the sidelines, content to watch the siblings make absolute fools of themselves. “Who woulda thought?” Simon murmurs, almost to himself. “Me, for one. Knew you’d be gone for ‘im when I introduced ya.” Simon scoffs. “Piss off, Price. Me an’ Kyle had a bet goin the moment she walked into that office.” They settle into silence, grinning like idiots at their respective MacTavishes.
Hours later, John’s walking with your hand in his and your heels in the other. The grooms have gone all out since there’s a small amount of wedding attendees, so each party gets their own villa. The alcohol has worn off by now, but you’re still giddy, humming the last song you danced to while John leads you back. “That was so fun.” Your smile is practically permanent now, has been for hours. He loves seeing you happy. “Yeah, baby? You had some interestin’ dance moves.” You shove him, but it doesn’t really work since your hands are tangled together. “Shove off. At least I danced.” The only time he danced was with you, guiding you through a few slow songs before Johnny practically took over the DJ booth. “Y’ were beautiful, sweetheart.” He dips to kiss your forehead and you preen under his praise.
John unlocks the door with the key card, walking in first to hold the door for you and lock it after. You turn on the lights, still bubbly and light. “I loved the flowers they had. Do you think…oh.” When you turn to look for him, he’s on one knee in front of the closed door. This time he has a ring, a beautiful creation in your favorite metal. “Let me marry you, sweetheart.” Your throat chokes up. “You remembered.” You’d been almost joking when you told him to wait a year, but clearly he didn’t see it that way. “‘Course I did. Been countin’ down the days for a while now.” You walk towards him until you can run your hands through the strands of his hair, barely sparing the ring a glance.
“Yes.”
“Yea?”
“Yes, John.”
You collapse onto him in a hug, your arms landing over his shoulders until he’s smothered in you. There’s a few tears of happiness between you, such a difference from the time you were crying on a rooftop, in his arms. Always in his arms. “We’re getting married.” You whisper, still not believing it. “Could elope now if ya want, baby.” You chuckle into the crook of his neck. “John Price, you know I want a proper wedding. You’ve seen my Pinterest.” He plants a kiss to the nape of your neck.
“Whatever you want, Mrs. Price.”

The Disability Library
I love books, I love literature, and I love this blog, but it's only been recently that I've really been given the option to explore disabled literature, and I hate that. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to be able to read about characters like me, and now as an adult, all I want is to be able to read a book that takes us seriously.
And so, friends, Romans, countrymen, I present, a special disability and chronic illness booklist, compiled by myself and through the contributions of wonderful members from this site!
As always, if there are any at all that you want me to add, please just say. I'm always looking for more!
Edit 20/10/2023: You can now suggest books using the google form at the bottom!

“Hello teddy bear lady, we really should stop meeting like this.”
The handsome stranger, later introduced himself as John Price, ended up exchanging numbers after you bump into him ( again ) at the pub.
Your niblings, especially your niece, were happy to see the “furry man” again, They couldn’t stop retelling the stories for days until your sister told them to give her a bit of peace and quiet.
Your sister was quite surprised when he showed up on the doorstep, picking you up for the date.
“Oh.. so.. He exists.” your sister elbowed you, she couldn’t contain the surprise on her face.
“.. you think I made up the whole story with the kids just to pull a prank on you??” you rolled your eyes.
“OHHHHH… your furry face feels so nice..!” Lizzy, your niece was again amazed by John’s facial hair and arm hair.
John smiled at her as he held his arms out and let your niece poke and probe at his hair and mutton chop.
“How about your legs? You say your legs are hairy too? Can I have a look?”
“Lizzy!” you chided. “Where are your manners! You don’t just go around and ask people to expose their body parts!”
“Well… you went on and on about it for days after about it too… Remember?” Your sister mumbled under her breath.
“I did not!!!” you retorted, face started to burn up with embarrassment. Shooting a look at John, who is quite amused by the conversation between the three of you.
Oh heavens. He must be thinking how strange your whole family is. Great. He is probably thinking of ways to bail out on you right now. But he just laughed as he retracted his arm and stood back up.
Surprisingly, he didn’t bail out on you. At the end of the night, he gently took hold of your hands, gazing softly at you with his beautiful blue eyes, quietly asking you on another date.
“I had a lovely time tonight. Can I see you again? I’ll cook for you. I can’t guarantee it will be michelin star quality but I promise you it is a lot better than the MRE ”
A man offers to cook for you? Who can say no to that?
You flinched as you felt the droplet of rain start hitting your face. Damn it, you thought, should have listened to the weather report and brought my brolly.  Now I probably have to call for a cab to get to the station afterwards. You huffed. Shrugging off the tote bag around your shoulder, and cradling it under the long coat like some valuable treasure to prevent it getting wet.
Or maybe he would ask you to stay for the night, and you might get lucky for once…..
Shaking your head to get that dirty thought out of your brain, This is only the second date! Maybe I need to bleach my brain. Ugh, better run faster, hair is getting wet. You quicken your pace to run towards the destination before the rain starts pelting down on you.
Double checking the address on your phone as you come up to an unassuming house at the end of a row of terrace houses. Adjusting your hold on the tote bag, you took a deep breath in before you knocked on the plain looking dark brown door, and took a step back, squaring your shoulder, waiting for him to answer the door. Few seconds later you heard the hurrying footsteps before the door opened.
There stands John Price, in a black dress pants and simple navy blue shirt, sleeves rolled up, tea towel slung over his shoulder. How does a man always make the simplest clothing look so good?
Your eyes quickly flick down towards the half apron he had on. Tight around his waist.
That slutty waist.
Ok, you really need to get yourself into a nunnery after this to cleanse all these unholy thoughts.
Taking one look at your slightly damp coat and wet hair, John frowned. "I should have gone and picked you up, I am sorry." He apologises as he quickly ushers you inside. "I was too caught up in the cooking to notice the weather outside."
"No need to apologise, I should have heeded the warning from the weather bureau." you replied as he helped you to take off the coat and hang it up by the door. “I won’t melt like the wicked witch of the west with a little bit of rain.” you joked.
“I got the heater going, come inside and you should warm up, you must be cold.” John commented as he gently put his hand on the small of your back as he led you inside.
You glance around as you walk past the corridor and living room. It's a minimalistically decorated flat.  There’s no television, a simple bookshelf, a three seater couch with a plain coffee table.
A bachelor’s pad that he hardly lives in.
“I don’t stay in this place a lot,” he said, as if sensing the question floating in your mind. “I also have a room I stayed in on site at the base if I work too late. Which is most of the time.”He chuckled.
“Bit of a workaholic?” You teased, remembering what the three other men’s words about their Captain the night at the pub.
“You sure you want to date him bonnie?” the mohawk man who the others called Soap asked. “The Captain is an absolute workaholic, if he isn’t out on the field training with the crew, he is stuck in the office, nose deep in paperwork. Sorry Captain. Not trying to interfere with your chance at luring a bonnie into bed…”
The other two nodded their heads in agreement. John just groaned and shook his head, clearly not amused at Soap’s jabbing. You actually find it quite endearing, how close the four of them are just from their interaction, despite the differences in ranks.
“Red or white?”
“Um. uh, red please…” you hastily replied as you broke out from your reverie, realising you are now standing in front of the kitchen. Setting down the container of baked goods onto the kitchen bench, you fidget your hand nervously as he pours you a glass of wine.
“Can I.. Can I help with anything?” you offered meekly, wanting to do something to distract yourself.
Shaking his head, he recorked the bottle and guided you to sit down on the stool. “I got it all under control. Trust me. I wouldn’t burn the kitchen down.” he smirked. “Just relax. Dinner shouldn’t be too long.” he reassures you before turning around and walking towards the oven.
A pleasant savoury aroma wafting through the air as he opens the open door to check the food inside.
“That smells really good.” you lean forward, inhaling the scent. “What’s on the menu?”
“Shepherd's Pie. with sides of vegetables and salad.”
He chuckles as your eyes brighten with the mentioning of the dish. “I know it’s your favourite. It’s the first time I made it.I hope It won’t disappoint.”
How does he know it’s your favourite?
The dinner turns out to be absolutely delicious. He was, you have to admit, quite a decent cook. you couldn’t help to let out a moan as you took a bite of the steaming hot pie.
The pie was well seasoned, the broccolini was well pan fried, and the salad was well dressed.
Everything was simple, but well done to perfection.
He chuckled as you quickly inhaled the portion of your pie. “I am taking that is a good sign that I have done this right?”
You took a sip of the red wine, washing down the delicious food, as you shyly smiled at him, slightly embarrassed. You are still slightly tense and nervous in a private environment.Just you, and him. You never had anyone else invite you to a date at their house before.
But part of you is glad he invited you over tonight. You get to see the real, more relaxed John Price side of him, without other people’s prying eyes, without him having to put up a front of being the Captain.
“Oh dear, it’s really bucketing down outside now..” you mumbled as the sound of rain hitting the window caught your attention. The two of you shifted yourself from the dining table onto the couch after dinner, to get more comfortable as you sip on the hot herbal tea, nibbling on the chocolate biscuits you have baked as a simple dessert. You reach forward towards the coffee table for your phone, checking for the next train timetable.
Your heart dropped when the pop up notice on the website shows all trains have been suspended due to the severe weather and heavy rain.
“Damn..nothing is running…” you groaned. You quickly open the ride share app to see if there are any rides nearby, it’s going to cost you a bit, but that’s probably your only way home now. Nothing was showing up either. You guess with how bad the weather is and even the public transports are all suspended, no one is going to risk their life driving on the road.
“Stay for the night?” He offered in a quiet voice as he saw your worried face, struggling to decide what to do.
“You take my bed, I’ll sleep on the couch.” he quickly added as your eyes grew wide at his previous suggestions, as if afraid he’s giving you the wrong idea.
Forever a gentleman.
You shook your head as you replied, “Um, I’ll take the couch, this is your home, I can’t kick a host onto the couch!”
“I insist.” you were ready to debate with him, but one look from him ( the same look he gave to Soap and Gaz at the pub when they started to get a bit too rowdy) had you swallow down the words back in again.
So now, you are sitting on top of his freshly made bed with crisp clean linen. Wearing some old t-shirts and sweatpants he managed to dig up in the death of his closet. . You subconsciously bring the overhanging sleep up towards your face, taking sniff. Smells exactly like him. Slight faint cigar and cologne smell. Making you feel really relaxed, and safe.
“This looks very military style. Did you even manage to iron the bed while I was in the shower??” you teased as you inspected the crease free bed sheet.
“Old habit dies hard.” he blushed as he turned his face away, not looking at you. “If you need me. I’m just down the hallway.” he cleared his throat, trying to cover up his fluster as he bid goodnight to you. “Have a good sleep. I will see you in the morning.”
“John.”
“Hmm?” he turned towards you as he rested his hand on  the door knob, eyebrow raised.
You shuffle yourself to the end of the bed, and walk towards him. Feeling brave, you reach your hands up, gently tugging him down to your height, and press a light kiss on his cheek, feeling his mutton chop tickle your face.
“Goodnight. And thank you for letting me stay.” you whispered, looking into his beautiful blue eyes after you reluctantly pulled yourself away from him.
His eyes flicker with emotion. Lips press tight, as if trying to control himself. Slowly letting out a breath, he pulls you into his embrace, kissing you gently on the head.
“Don’t mention it. Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bug bites.”
The only thing that was biting you that night was a bug called love.
“Captain, you let her sleep alone on your bed??? Oh these biscuits are good”
“What a gentleman.”
“.. I’ll go make some tea. I hope you at least made her breakfast the next day.”
“Shut up you muppets. Get back to work.”

Basic Numerology
Tumblr media
Every letter of the alphabet holds a numerical weight. These numbers each vibrate with a different frequency and affect our energies and lives in different ways. The value of each letter is:
1: A, J, S
2: B, K, T
3: C, L, U
4: D, M, V
5: E, N, W
6: F, O, X
7: G, P, Y
8: H, Q, Z
9: I, R
Each person has their own set of numerical frequencies which influence our lives in various ways. The most significant influences are as follows:
Life Path Number-
Arguably the most important numbers in your personal numerology. Represents one's path in life, their greatest lessons, and their greatest areas for opportunity and growth. This number is calculated using only your date of birth.
Example: A birthday of January 1st, 1999 would equate to: 01/01/1999= 0+1+0+1+1+9+9+9=30 =3+0=3. So the life path number is 3.
Note: Never reduce the numbers 11, 22, or 33. These are master numbers.
Soul Number-
Your soul number reflects your innermost thoughts, habits, and instinctual reactions. It is also representative of your talents, innermost desires, and the subconscious. Similar to the Moon placement of astrology. To calculate your soul number add together the values of all the vowels in your full birth name.
Example: Ann Marie Smith, vowels and values are- A(1), A(1), I(9), E(5), I(9), so 1+1+9+5+9=25=2+5=7. The soul number is 7.
Personality Number-
The personality number is like your book's cover or mask and reveals insights into your social persona and how we present ourselves to others. It can be calculated by adding together the value of all the consonants in your full birth name.
Example: John Allen Dover, consonants and values are- J(1), H(8), N(5), L (3), L(3), N(5), D(4), V(4), R(9), so 1+8+5+3+3+5+4+4+9=42=4+2=6. In this case the personality number is a 6.
Destiny Number-
Destiny numbers can help reveal our life's purpose, our reason to keep going, even our greatest goals and desires. To calculate this valuable number, add the values of all the letters in your full birth name.
Example: Tasha Lynn Cole, values of letters are- T(2), A(1), S(1), H(8), A(1), L(3), Y(7), N(5), N(5), C(3), O(6), L(3), E(5), which becomes 2+1+1+8+1+3+7+5+5+3+6+3+5=50=5+0=5. So this destiny number is 5.
Name Numbers-
You can also calculate the numerological value of your preferred name, nickname, witch name, alias, etc. This will reveal the hidden power behind the chosen name as well as that aspect of yourself.
Example: Astra Ravana, values of the letters are- A(1), S(1), T(2), R(9), A(1), R(9), A(1), V(4), A(1), N(5), A(1), this becomes 1+1+2+9+1+9+1+4+1+5+1=35=3+5=8. So the name's number is 8.

To be injured
Captain John Price x f!reader Part 1/5
Summary: Your handsome neighbour is back and you decide to do something nice for him. This gesture ends up with you actually patching him up and him, involuntarily, opening up old wounds. But both of you are determined to explore the way you feel for each other.
Warnings: patching up wounds, angst, hurt/comfort, intimacy problems, hints of past sexual trauma, toxic ex (please, please don´t read it if these trigger you, I mean it), touch starved reader, fluff, hints of sexual innuendos, fluffy ending
Part two is out: To be healed, check it out ;)
Wordcount: 4.599
Tumblr media
„Come on, come on…“ you mumbled while fishing for your keys. You tried to balance the heavy bag of groceries on one knee, failing, stumbling, cursing and trying yet again. “Aha!” you exclaimed victoriously as you finally got hold of your keychain and opened your apartment door with a huge grin. It´s the little achievements. Especially after a very tiring day at your work. You were looking forward to a nice evening, cooking your favourite pasta dish, drinking wine and playing video games. Heavily you set down the groceries onto your kitchen island and began storing everything away. While your JBL Box played Nick Lowe´s The Beast in Me, you took a refreshing shower. Clad in an impossibly fluffy dark green bathrobe and your wet hair plastered around your face you started to prepare dinner. You got the sauce going and while it was happily simmering away you started up your gaming console.
Suddenly, you heard a loud bang right outside your front door and some muffled cursing. Your heart picked up quickly. But not out of fear. You knew who that was. The deep dark timber of his voice even recognisable through the door. He was back! John Price. You had met him several times since you moved into your new home nearly a year ago. He was a quiet neighbour. Maybe because he was away for work most of the time. You didn´t exactly know what he did, you never asked. But he always came back exhausted, battered and bruised. You had your suspicions of what his occupation might be. If you were right however, you´d do well not to ask too many questions. The two of you had shared some nice conversations across the hall or at the laundromat. Every time, one or both of you were quite reluctant to get back into your respective apartments. At least you were reluctant every time.
John Price was devastatingly handsome. Given, you had never met a man with a beard like his and you found it a little old fashioned but it didn´t take away from the deep cerulean swirl of his eyes, his beautiful lips or sinful voice. Yea, you had it bad for him. It didn´t hurt either that he was build like your filthiest dreams come true. Broad shoulders, his arms defined and strong. A light dusting of hair on his forearms. You were still mentally drooling thinking about his meaty thighs and his narrow waist. More than once you wondered in the late ours of the night how it would feel to wrap your legs around it. Shaking your head to try and keep your mind from going places, you huffed a laugh at yourself and checked on your food.
You knew what you wanted to do. Every time John came back home, he was only in his apartment for maybe an hour before leaving to go get groceries. The man deserved a nice cooked meal when he came home from wherever. You cooked your pasta and put together a portion with sauce and some parmigiano riggiano on the side. With your container in hand, you grabbed your keys and opened your apartment door. Your stomach doing somersaults you crossed the hallway and knocked on John´s door. You heard something moving behind the door and then silence. You almost thought he wouldn´t open the door but then the lock clicked and it swung open. There he stood and your heart sank uncomfortably. Battered and bruised again, worse than you had seen yet. He wore a black T-shirt that hugged his bulging form perfectly but also reveiled his arms. Several bandaged cuts and scrapes adorned them. He looked a little guiltily at you when you let out a small startled breath.
“John” you began, looking him in the eyes. “You´re back” you whispered. He smiled. Small and kindly at you and nodded. “Good evening,___” he said calmly. “I was making dinner and thought you might…you´ve been gone for a while so I thought….you´re hurt!” He chuckled a little at your stammering and leaned his shoulder to the doorframe crossing his arms across his chest. “Just a few scrapes, nothin´ too bad” he said lowly. You nodded nervously and again let your eyes wonder across his body. This time though not to appreciate but because you worried.
Suddenly you remembered why you even came to his door. Blushing furiously you lifted the still warm container and said “Pasta. I made pasta and I thought you should have something to eat when you get home. The shops are closing soon.” He stood tall again and took the dish from you. His face showed slight bewilderment. His eyes were opened wider than normal and his eyebrows were slightly raised. “That´s awfully thoughtful of you,__. Thank you” he said almost in awe. Your heart sang and you had a silly little grin on your face. “No worries. Erm…enjoy” you said and were turning around. “___,” John said your name quickly. You turned again, seeing him looking almost nervous himself rubbing his neck with his free hand. “There´s…There´s one spot”, he gestured with his patched up arm. “I can´t reach it. It´s bleeding though. Would you mind terribly-“ “Absolutely not, I´ll help!” you quickly answered. He still looked a little uncomfortable but stepped aside.
You entered his apartment without a second thought. Only helping him, patching him up in mind. His apartment was clean and to your surprise and joy, stuffed with books. He had a huge bookcase adorning one complete wall top to bottom. Some of them were even stacked on the floor. It was cosy and warm.
You could already see medical supplies strewn across his coffee table, so you made your way over to the couch. When you turned around yet again to tell him to sit down, you saw he was already looking intently at you. It was like being trapped, but in a way you would gladly be trapped for ages. Time began to slow down, you heart thumping like thunder in your chest when he moved again. Slowly coming over to you, holding your eyes with his. He looked so gently at you it was hard to tell if he even felt the cuts on his skin. He placed the food on his respective kitchen island, took three long strides and came to a stop right in front of you.
He was taller than you, so when you leaned your head back to look at his face you could see his beard from up close. Some little streaks of grey were already visible but you couldn´t care less. It looked so soft. All you wanted was to feel it on the tips of your fingers, your lips…”It´s on my back” he whispered. You nodded your head. “Shirt” you barely squeaked out. The corners of his eyes crinkled when he stepped back a little and with a strained hiss lifted his shirt over his head. If you didn´t know that you were about to see his injury, your body would react differently. Even knowing that you were about to patch him up, denying that he was worth drooling over was futile. It was as you had imagined. A wide chest with strong pectorals, dark chest hair creeping down his muscles and disappearing into his sweatpants. You were surprised to see that he didn´t have the defined abbs you always envisioned. It was a softer version, perfectly accentuating his narrow waist. All too quickly you had to avert your eyes again as his shirt fell to the ground.
He looked at you a bit sheepishly and you smiled at him. He huffed a little embarrassed and turned around. “Holy fuck, John!” you exclaimed almost angrily. Your head and mind immediately sobered up from the heavy hue of attraction and pining. “Why are you not in hospital? That´s not a scratch, that´s a gash!” Right underneath his left shoulder blade was a deep cut. It wasn´t very big or long but it looked very painful. “No need for a hospital, love. I´ve been injured worse. Just use the…erm…the glue.” Not questioning him you nodded and got to work. You had no idea if what you were doing was right, but there were logical points to follow. So you did. He didn’t interrupt you, standing still like a statue even when you began to disinfect the wound. His freckled skin was soft and warm under your touch.
When you finished and  sealed the glued shut cut with a bandage, your hand hovered over it for a second longer. “All done” you said softly. He turned his head first, then his whole body. “Thank you, sweetheart” he rumbled. “No problem” you said and swished your hand in front of your face dismissively. “No, I mean it” he said with a stern and honest voice. He was standing in front of you and slowly lifted his hand taking yours in his. You felt the roughness of his fingers enveloping yours and a bolt of electricity ran through your arm. You had to close your eyes for just a second to gather your thoughts again. “Not everyone just patches up their neighbour without asking questions and even cooks them dinner. I´m a lucky man.” Damn him and his smile. You felt like any moment you would dissolve into a puddle. “Would you like to join me for dinner?” he asked hesitantly.
Suddenly you felt your stomach drop. He was still holding onto your hand but dropped it when he saw your hesitant face. “I…I should really go to bed….it´s late and you must be exhausted. I´ll get out of your hair.” He looked at you quizzically but nodded his head. Embarrassment filled your lungs when you made your way to your door, opened it and vanished into your own apartment.
__________________________________________________
John just stared at your closed door with a feeling of nervousness and regret. You were an enigma to him and he was utterly drawn to you. Your sweet and caring nature, your bubbly personality such a stark contrast to what he was. It could never be, he knew that. And still, every now and again (recently more often then not) his nights were filled with the thought of you. And tonight there you went again. Completely making him act out of character, making him feel warm and welcome. You patched him up, for crying out loud and didn´t even ask questions. You cooked him dinner!
Ruffling his hair and pulling his hand over his face he turned and returned to his open living space. Heating up the pasta you made for him, he mused about what could have changed your demeanour so much. Did he make you uncomfortable by holding your hand? By all the gods, he wasn´t able to stop himself. He felt like he was about to lose his mind if he didn’t feel your skin on his again at that moment. Was it his dinner invitation? Probably. He couldn’t think of anything else. She had seen and tended to his injury without blinking an eye, so that wasn’t it either.
One bite into the pasta and his eyes rolled back while an appreciative moan left his lips. That must be the best thing he has ever eaten in the last couple of years. He felt his chest expand with warmth and gratitude and shortly after constrict with uncertainty. Practically inhaling your delicious pasta and getting ready for bed, he made a decision. Tomorrow he would bring back your container and try to find out what happened.
Whilst staring at the ceiling of his bedroom, he was more sure every second, that he wanted more of you. More of your time, more of your sweet smile, more of your touch. If he didn’t completely misread the situation, and he was pretty sure you were as infatuated as he was, he should at least try to make it right. Years in the military had not only taught him how to read people but also not to let go once he had a certain feeling about something. He sighed deeply and turned on his side. He knew he should stay away. Not get you involved. But the way his heart squeezed thinking about your expression when you left….No, he couldn’t let it go like that. He would talk to you in the morning.
____________________________________________________
You stared at your reflection in the mirror, shaking your head and mentally cursing yourself. Your hand still tingled from his touch and you were sure, absolutely sure that you wanted him to be the one to help you. Cure you from overthinking his intentions, cure you from pining for his touch so badly you almost broke into tears when he held your hand. It was frustrating, so frustrating. You almost forgot what it felt like to be held, touched gently or even intimately without the other person waiting to state their want. Your past partner had the habit of only giving you the sort of affection you wanted when he either relented with an eyeroll or wanted something bigger from you. At the end it was so bad that he only touched you or became intimate with you when he had to excuse one of his many flaws. You caught him lying? He cried and hugged you tight to his chest. You mentioned you wanted to spend time together? He complained the whole evening about your choice of restaurant. He forgot about every plan you or he made, so you had to constantly run after him? He said sorry by giving you what he starved you of. Intimacy. Stability. Sex. The only thing that you thought was solid prove he still wanted you. In the end he even verbally spat in your face. Those were pity fucks,___! It´s so pathetic that you always throw yourself at me whenever I want you to. You can never say no, can you? What´s up with that?
Angry tears made their way down your face. It had been four years since then and you did the work. Did the healing. The tears were more directed at your anger. How did you let it come to this? When was the moment you decided that walking over you like this was alright? Although you since grew a stronger backbone and were doing really well for yourself (independence and all that good shit), you still caught yourself overthinking small gestures from men. Usually you ignored them but with him? With John, it was too important to ignore. You needed to work on that! You wanted his touch. You needed these thoughts redirected. With a determined feeling in your gut, you washed your face once again and got into bed. When you were comfortable and warm you yet again thought of his crinkling eyes, warm smile and gorgeous features. You felt the negativity leave your body and you really hoped that your awkward leaving wouldn’t stop him from talking to you tomorrow. You were determined to make things right. No longer would you let your former partners words determine whether you took your chance or not. He was worth it! You were sure of it. John was different. He was kind. You would talk to him in the morning.
_______________________________________________________
The next morning you felt more nervous than you had ever felt. Somehow you had to explain your exit last night without telling him too much about you past. Great. Coffee first. You sleepily made your way over to your kitchen and started the coffee machine. The calming sound of grinding beans filled your living space and you almost missed it. Three knocks on your door. Oh no, ohhhh no, you weren´t ready yet. And in your pyjamas still. If you didn´t open the door though he would surely see it as a rejection. He damn sure heard the coffee machine going. “One sec” you yelled towards the door while in a hurry trying to find something to wear over your tank top. Was that a chuckle outside your door? Hurriedly you pulled a beige, woollen sweater over your head and scrambled over to your door. Checking the state of your hair in the mirror in your small hallway you saw that, as usual, it was a mess. Sighing but giddy at the same time you opened the door. Crap, crap, crap, crap…..
The small grin he wore on his lips made your knees buckle. “Good morning” he drawled. Again he was wearing a black shirt that seemed way too tight, stretching over his arms and chest. His jeans however seemed comfortably loose although not being able to hide his massive thighs all that well. Swallowing you looked him in the eyes and tried a small smile. “Your pasta? Most delicious thing I´ve ever eaten” he said in an appreciative tone. You felt your cheeks burn like fire. “I´m really glad you liked it.” He nodded and held the clean container in front of him. “Just wanted to return that”, he said. Your throat constricted. Of course he was only here for that. He wasn´t interested in any explanation. You tried to look unaffected. “Yeah, right. Thanks” you said and took the container from him, looking anywhere but him. Suddenly, he took a deep breath. “I don´t know what happened yesterday but if I made you feel uncomfortable in any way, please let me apologise” he rushed out. Your head snapped up to look at him and the guilty look on his face made your stomach clench.
“Would you like to come in?” you asked, trying to sound not too timid. His eyes grew wide and unsure. “Only if you want me to.” You smiled wider now and stepped aside to let him in. This conversation needed to happen. Grow some balls,___. He came inside and looked around. “So Cosy” he said with a smirk. “I like the décor.” You giggled a little and got another mug from the cupboard. “Coffee?” you asked and swung the mug in front of you. “The moment you´ll ever hear me say no to coffee, you might as well shoot me.” His voice was playful now. Playful John Price, gods help me! It made you feel so at ease. Huffing a laugh you gestured for him to take a seat at your kitchen island and turned to make his coffee.
Smiling at your back he carefully sat down at one of the high chairs not being really sure if it would hold him well. Leaning onto the island he really tried hard not to let his eyes wander over your figure. To no avail as he realised. His eyes were already trained on your neck, your waist and hips. Trailing downwards he swallowed when his eyes stopped at the exact spot your thighs peeked from your sleep shorts. Damn, he was trying to find out what he did wrong, what spooked you so much last night and here he was, ogling again. When you turned around with a pleasant smile on your face his eyes immediately snapped to your face. Beautiful, he thought.
“I´m guessing black?” you said cheerfully. He laughed out loud. A joyous, boisterous sound that made your heart jump. “You would´ve guessed absolutely right, love. Am I that transparent?” His tone was friendly and an little teasing and goosebumps erupted on your skin as a result. Grinning, you pushed the mug towards him and took your own in hand. Taking a sip and watching him do the same, the low appreciative hum that came from his throat stirred something inside your belly. Something you had almost forgotten. The sheer pull and need to hear that again. Maybe invoked by something different than coffee. Your thighs for example…Jesus, get a grip! But you were already on cloud nine at this point. You felt elated by the fact that you could just be attracted to him. Not questioning his little flirtatious attempts and what he might try to get with them. You just…enjoyed him. And that alone made your confidence spark like fireworks.
“I´m sorry about me just bolting yesterday” you said while warming your hands on your mug. His eyes snapped up at you and he shook his head a little. “Let me explain, please” you said quickly and watched his response glide down his throat again while he sat up and nodded encouragingly.
You leaned against the island and took a deep breath. “It had nothing to do with you or your injury, I promise you.” He looked a little disbelieving but didn´t interrupt you. “I have…Sometimes I get really jumpy when someone…touches me.” He closed his eyes and made a small sound, like he was kicking himself. “I´m so, so sorry-“ he started. “Don’t, John. Please. It´s not your fault. I mean…you´re not the cause of it.” He looked at you curiously. “We all have our histories, John. Mine just happens to end up with me having trouble accepting fond gestures. Doesn´t mean I don´t want them. It´s contradicting, I know. And it pisses me off sometimes that my body reacts the way it does. That fondness and all that is so-“ “Overwhelming” he finished your sentence in a low voice but clear for you to hear. You nodded, wondering when he would get up and leave. When he would decide that it was too much of a hassle.
He was quiet for a long time but never broke eye contact with you. You didn´t feel uncomfortable by it. It was more like a quiet conversation. His eyes were warm and understanding. Trying to make you understand something you couldn´t quite grasp yet.
“I´m in the military. When I leave, it´s for missions. Any kind.” His answer was so pure, simple and honest, you simply nodded because it did explain what it needed to explain. But still he spoke again. “So when you say you are overwhelmed by fond touches, most of the time it´s the same for us. Just…we´re overwhelmed because the touches never come or we just have no time or sense to seek them out, not because we expect something bad to happen.” You looked at him with wide eyes. He actually tried and somehow succeeded to try and understand where you were coming from.
Your heart almost couldn’t take it and you felt the familiar sting behind your eyes. “I´m sorry you had to make those experiences. I won´t touch you again.” The shock that ran through your body was visible even to him. Your eyes went wide as he tried to find the correct words. “I mean unless-“
“Have you even listened to what I just said?” you said in a high pitched voice.
“Yes I did, so-“
“Then why would you say that?”
Suddenly he started grinning wide. Your whole body heated up by the mischievousness of it. He screamed trouble when he stood, forgoing his coffee and came around the island towards you. Your eyes betrayed you yet again, wandering along his body. The one he steered towards you slowly. Grin transforming into a kind smile he realised you weren’t backing away. He came to a stop in front of you and suddenly you got a whiff. Clean skin, spicy wood and something like moss penetrated your nose and you took an involuntary deep breath. You hoped to all the existing entities out there that that was what he smelled like all the time.
“___” your name fell from his lips so gently. You looked at him expectantly, hopeful. “___, do you want me to touch you?” You nodded instantly. A brilliant smile made it´s way onto his features. One you would kill to see every day. “If that´s okey with you” you whispered. “___, you have no idea. I was thinking about you for a long time. I´ll touch you if you want me to. We can move as slowly as you need to.”
The joy and gratitude you felt almost made you dizzy. With a hearty chuckle you lifted your hand and carefully touched his bearded cheek. He took a deep, deep breath through his nose and leaned in. His own hand came up to yours completely covering it, holding it to his face. “Hmm” he hummed. “Feels nice.” His eyes bore into yours again when you stepped even closer. “You want to touch me more?” you asked, hinting to his other hand just limb hanging by his side. He just raised one brow and squeezed the hand he was holding. “Careful, little one.” He rasped turning your bones to jelly. “The way I want to touch you, I feel like, needs a bit more trainin´.” You swallowed hard and felt the heat creep up your neck, covering your face. Giggling however you lifted your other hand stroking your fingertips over his surprisingly soft beard. Encouraged by your willingness to be close to him, he too lifted his remaining hand and placed it softly onto your back waiting for your reaction.
When all you did was smile at him and admiring the crinkles that formed around his eyes he slowly leaned forward. You never thought a man would be able to make you feel so at ease in his arms ever again but here he was. His forehead landed on yours gently and he breathed you in for a second. A brilliant smile made its way onto your face.
“There you are” he smiled just as brilliantly. “You truly are mesmerising, do you know that?” You closed your eyes and pressed yourself closer to him. His grip on you getting stronger. “How long ´till you´re called in again?” you asked, raking your fingers down his beard onto the back of his neck. “Don´t know” he said. “But we have time, little one.” He brushed his nose with yours and exhaled slowly. “Let me show you that I want nothing more than your touch and your consent. I´m willing to earn it. Will you let me?” A single tear left your eye which was immediately brushed away ever so softly by his lips. Your skin prickled and you nodded quickly. “Words, darlin´” he said. “Yes, John. I´ll let you.” Another brush of his nose against yours, you felt his pulse at the tip of your fingers quicken.
Lifting your chin a little bit, his lips carefully touched yours for a brief moment. Then for a second time with more pressure. By the time your brain stopped short circuiting, you were still standing in your kitchen, in the arms of a man that singlehandedly began to take your wall down brick by brick. Kissing him happily, being kissed carefully and honestly.
You knew the possibility that he had to leave again soon was hanging heavy in the air between you but for some reason you didn´t worry. One day after the other, one touch after the other you would learn about him. With him. And while he lovingly stroked his hand up and down your back, you decided that you wanted him more than anything else. Wanted to see what he had in store for you. And in return you would be there for him. A steadfast point in his life to return to. He broke the kiss with a small laugh, hugging you close. Your face pressed to his neck, his big arms enveloped you fully and lifted you shorty off the ground. And with his own adorable giggle in your ears you knew, letting this man into your apartment was the beginning of a new chapter. One you needed. One you wanted more than anything.

Does this scream for a part 2 or not? Let me know ;) As always thanky ou very much for reading. Comments, reblogs and likes are of course appreciated.

Could you possibly write a fluff alphabet for doe?
John Doe’s fluff alphabet!
I was glad to write this one for my beloved Doe :)
♡ A — activities
He loves going on picnics with you. He finds something unreal exciting in nature around him, especially at night. You don't go for walks during the day; he doesn't really like the heat and the sun. Doe dreams of lying in the grass with you on a summer evening, watching the birds. Also, he just melts when you play with his hair, run your hands into it and scratch his scalp. At this moment, your entire wrist is deep in black curls.
Bonus: Doe plays with butterflies like a kitten every time he sees them. Watch your child carefully so that he does not swallow the butterfly (he always tries to).
But Doe is also a fan of staying home and cuddling in bed/on the couch all day. He will never get bored.
♡ B — beauty
He adores you all. Especially in his weird way when you're dirty and disheveled. Doe pays the most attention to your eyes. He does not understand human non-verbal communication or the meaning of gestures or movements, but he understands everything from your eyes.
Doe does not pay much attention to his appearance, but out of great love, he allows you to do so. He behaves like a good boy when once a month you persuade him to brush his hair. In return, he demands a sweet kiss, a chocolate medal (he likes to gnaw the foil) and cute hair clips.
♡ C — comfort
Will not leave you a single step when you’re upset. And it will take a couple of hours after you calm down to make sure that you are absolutely fine. Usually, his way of comforting you is a tight hug and a lying position. Also, be prepared for a billion questions, because he will not rest until he is sure that everything is fine.
"Are you okay? Is everything alright? Is this normal for humans? Yeah? Everything is good? Well. Are you telling the truth? Is everything DEFINITELY normal? You aren’t sad?"
♡ D — dreams
Doe has not yet integrated into society enough to get the concept of plans for the future. His plans are usually either very short-term, for example, he plans to look out the window tomorrow morning, or they are too delayed, like "we will be together all our lives, yes, for a hundred years together."
♡ E — equal
He is indeed more active in the relationship, but not dominant. For Doe, it is more convenient to rely on your rules in the relationship and trust your management. At the same time, he actively performs executive work.
♡ F — fight
Doe doesn't take offense for anything longer than three seconds. Also, he practically does not argue with you, he is too afraid to upset you.
The only thing that can make him angry and worried is when you deny your relationship or refuse him. But he will not argue, he firmly believes that things are as he sees them, and no other way.
♡ G — gratitude
Doe appreciates anything you do. And his reaction is always equally exaggerated, he squeals with joy when you simply kiss him on the cheek or take his hand.
♡ H — honesty
Doe doesn't fully understand what a secret is and why he has to hide something, so he usually says even more than you want to know.
♡ I — inspiration
Thanks to you, he learns to understand human habits and human norms. So you explained to him why stalking someone is not acceptable, why stabbing someone is dangerous, and now you are teaching him the alphabet and writing.
bonus headcanon: Doe is ambidextrous, able to write with both left and right hands.
♡ J — jealousy
Doe doesn't know what that feeling is, the closest he can describe it is "I get angry when someone is standing next to you." He would never suspect you of cheating, but he will always be jealous of other people who talk to you/touch you. Doe realizes that you have your own life and other people besides him and he doesn't really want to be the only person in your life and force you, but he definitely gets nervous when someone talks to you.
♡ K — kiss
Doe never kissed before he met you. He doesn't know any techniques, doesn't know where to put his hands or how to move his tongue. But he always kisses as if it is the last kiss in his life — and this passion of his really hits you to the core and makes your heart skip a beat. He's barely breathing, kissing on the last breath, his mouth is too hot, he's drooling too much and clinging to every part of the body within his reach.
Your first kiss was like two third graders who had just discovered what a kiss was and decided to give it a try.
Doe just leaned closer to you while you watched TV. And he froze. His eyes almost beg you to guess his intentions and take the first step. Yours and Doe's lips just touch for a couple of seconds, his lips are incredibly hot and dry for some reason.
♡ L — love confession
He never really stops confessing. Doe tells you that he loves you from the first day of acquaintance and does not stop for a day, declaring his love at suitable and not moments.
♡ M — marriage
Doe hardly understands what marriage is, but he definitely wants to marry you. He is the type of person who on the first day of a relationship has already chosen a beautiful white wedding dress.
♡ N — nicknames
Top choices are Love, Darling and Dear.
You also talked him out of the most disturbing names, such as: doll, cutie pie, cupcake, pumpkin and others.
After Doe watched romantic French films, the name "mon cher" appeared in the lexicon.
♡ O — on Cloud Nine
The fact that Doe fell in love is always obvious. Obvious to everyone, always and immediately. And you can't stop him. Especially to stop him from saying it every four seconds.
♡ P — PDA
Talking about your relationship is his favorite topic. Doe wears an "I love y/n" t-shirt and this is a fact that is 100% confirmed. Social norms are too complex and new for him to understand, and he always wants to kiss and touch you, so everything here will be at the choice of his partner. Doe respects any of your boundaries and wouldn't go for a kiss if you didn't want to.
But he absolutely cannot walk without holding your hand.
(or at least sticking his finger in the belt loop of your jeans)
♡ Q — quirk
You won't find anyone as interested in a relationship as Doe. Literally. He will do everything for you and thank you for giving him the opportunity to serve you.
♡ R — romance
Once he gave you a bouquet of flowers with the note "I know where you live" attached to it. I think this sentence says it all.
♡ S — support
Doe ignores the fact that you have a life apart from him, but he still sincerely wishes you success and supports you in everything, even if he does not understand why you need it.
He is not very happy that you work at a gas station, but on your lunch break he always comes here and brings you sandwiches (two pieces of bread on which he tried to draw hearts with red jam, or whatever substance it might be, you will never guess what ingredients Doe chose today)
♡ T — thrill
No, he will definitely not get bored in a relationship. Doe could do the same thing with you every day and he would never get bored.
But Doe quite likes it when you show him some common human things that he's never had. Going to an amusement park or going rollerblading gives him so many new emotions that he recovers after that for a couple of weeks. Thus, he had an existential crisis for a whole month after going to the cinema for the first time to see a 3D movie.
♡ U — understanding
Doe is not very empathetic toward other people. I think that society did not treat him very well, because to ordinary passersby he is just a weirdo and a creep. Therefore, he usually does not like strangers and would never worry about their problems.
But he is too sensitive about you. He worries about you, takes any problem seriously, and gets worried too much when you just cut your finger while turning the page of a book.
Also, Doe is addicted to knowing every little detail about you. As soon as he learned to write, he got himself a notebook to write down all the little things about you, but later it became unnecessary, he remembers everything anyway, so marking it down is unnecessary work.
♡ V — value
A relationship with you comes first. He doesn't have to work or even clean the room he lives in, so he has no other business than being your partner. He is not interested in anything in life other than this.
♡ W — wild card
Doe loves when you braid his hair and weave flowers into his curls. And he likes when you paint his nails black. Godheneedsomeonetotakecareofhim.
♡ X — xoxo
VERY affectionate. VERY.
He loves and needs it always and everywhere. Doe can't go walking without your hand in his, he can't sleep without you in bed, he isn't so happy to watch TV without you.
♡ Y — yearning
Doe begins to miss you in the fourth minute of your absence. For five minutes, he goes crazy without you. Ten minutes later, he puts up posters saying "MISSING. My partner. Have you seen this person? Identifying characteristics: the most beautiful creature in the world"
It was a big problem before you explained to him what a phone was. Doe is much more relaxed when he can call you at any minute, and he also likes to send you tons of messages. And, of course, he takes pictures of you all the time. He is proud to have an album with photos of you sleeping.
♡ Z — zeal
Doe does not think far ahead, but he has confidence that you will always be together.
And today, he always imagines how he will spend tomorrow with you.

bruised
jj maybanks daughter went missing for a day and a half, she came home bruised and scratched, and had to explain to her dad what her boyfriends friend did to her.
warnings
rape, slight mention of sh, mentions of nudity, cursing, self doubt , talk of rape, lmk if i missed anything
“d-dad” y/n says walking into the wooden door of the château.
“Y/N! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?! WE HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK!” jj yells as he sees you walk in
it had almost been 2 days since you randomly left the château. jj’s face softened when he saw the tears streaming down your face, a bruised chest and eye, and your clothes ripped, as if they were by an animal.
“i-i went o-over to tristen’s house t-to grab my bag that i l-left and and,” she stumbled over her words are jj grabbed her stuff and helped her reach the couch.
“what happened, baby” jj asked in a soft tone as he rubbed circles on your back.
“ow-“ y/n cried. jj lifted the back of your shirt to see your bruised lower back.
“are you bruised any where else, baby?” he asked, trying to stay relaxed for you, though it was hard, seeing a bruise the size of your head on your back.
y/n nodded pointing to your hips. jj carefully pulled your ripped shorts down just enough to see the black and blue bruises on you hip bones.
“jesus,” he said to himself. “continue, i need to know what happened,” he added, sternly, but also softly.
“his f-friend was there, and he locked me in t-tristen’s room,” jj kept nodding, holding her in for a hug, “he pulled all of my-my cl-clothes off and when i-i fought him he-he punch-punch me a kicked me until i couldn’t anymore”
“where was tristen?” jj asked, tears welling up in his eyes.
“he was in-in his basement help-helping his dad with something”
“hey j!” john b said loudly as he walked in. “hey is the y/n?! oh sorry i’ll leave you two alone.” he said after noticing you crying and holding on tightly to your dads tee shirt
jj shooed him away and focusing back on you.
“and then what happened baby?” he asked, already knowing the answer, but wanted clarification.
“he grabbed m-my hair and said that-that i w-was asking for-for what he- he was about to do to me” you said, as jj held you tighter, not knowing that was possible.
“then what did he do?” jj said concerned, noticing the blood on your pants.
“he-he” you stuttered “i don’t want to talk about it” you said in a complete sob in jjs arms.
“it’s ok baby, your with me now.” he started a shower for you as you collected yourself. he waited till you were in the shower to go outside and cry, you didn’t want her to see you upset.
“woah man, are you ok? what happened with y/n/n?” john b asked with the rest of the pogues following behind, a concerned look on all of their faces, knowing jj hates crying and will do anything not to.
“they hurt my baby girl” jj said, voice cracking as he looked up from his hands.
“h-how?” kiara asked, wanting to know so she can come up with a way to make it better
“she- she went to tristen’s house,” his voice became more controlled as he continued, “ and his friend was there.”
“boy or girl” pope interrupted.
john b flicked the back of popes head, and looking at him like he was dumb. to be fair, it was a dumb question.
“he stripped her and hit her and shit and then r-r,” his voice started to crack in pain again. “he raped her, man” he said, back into a sob.”there’s bruises and shit all over her. idk what to do”
sarah and kies heart broke not only for their little y/n, but also for jj. “do you want us to go check on her, j” kiara asked, rubbing jjs shoulders softly.
“y-yeah” he said calming down again. “can you ask her if there’s more bruises i didn’t see?” the girls walked inside to check on y/n, giving him a thumbs up
jjs pov
“who’s kid was it?” john b asked.
“she doesn’t know him, it was one of tristen’s friends”
“well where was tristen?” pope asked sitting next to him.
“i guess he was in the basement with his dad”
“why was she even there?” john b questioned looking out onto the water.
“she left her purse there”
the two boys hugged jj as he let more cries out. “it’s my job to protect her, i should’ve asked where she was going” jj said after breaking out of the hug, stomping his foot down.
“well now we know for next time,” pope replied, feeling sorry for both maybanks.
back to the main pov
sarah and kiara knock on y/ns door.
“i don’t want to talk about it anymore, dad” her voice shaky.
“it’s us.” sarah said, reassuring y/n. “can we come in?” she asked, trying not to cross her boundaries after all that’s happened
“i guess.”
“jesus, y/n!” kiara tried to hold it back but when she saw the bruises on her face, she couldn’t help it.
“tell me about it.” y/n said, as tears started to collect in your eyes.
“can we check for more bruises or scratches?” sarah said, trying not to come off nosey.
y/n was hesitant at first, but realized they only wanted her to be safe. she gave them a small nod and took off her shirt and shorts, leaving her just in her underwear.
sarah looked at your chest and gasped, as if she could feel the pain coming from the scratches, still bleeding a little, all over her.
“sorry to ask this, and you don’t have to answer, i just want to know to keep you safe,” sarah continued, “does it go into your bra?” she asked softly as kiara got a better look.
y/n looked down, as if she was ashamed of herself, “yea” she said, letting the tears fall.
“can we see? it’s ok to say no.” kiara reassured her.
y/n, already feeling like she lost any ounce of dignity nodded her head yes.
sarah gave her a warm, but concerned smile before y/n lifted her bra so they could see. they gasped yet again, seeing the cuts got deeper, and there were red handprints. y/n pulled it back up, wiping her eyes. the girls continued to search her body, finding the bruise jj hit earlier.
“gosh” was all sarah could say. they saw her bruised hips, and handprints on what the could see of her butt.
“ you know we have to tell your dad about this, right?” kiara said pointing to her chest area. y/n nodded her head, already feeling ashamed.
“it’s just so…” she paused, “embarrassing.”
“oh y/n/n, you have nothing to be embarrassed about, we just need to make sure your ok, and don’t have too serious injury’s,” sarah said wiping the tear that was rolling from y/ns face.
“we’ll give you some time to be to yourself.l” kiara said after giving y/n a kiss on the head.
the girls walked back out to the boys, none of them speaking. “hey, jj?” sarah asked.
“yea? is she ok?” jj asked desperately bouncing up from his hammock to hear any news about his little girl.
“well…” sarah was trying to find the right words when kiara cut her off.
“she has like deep cuts on her chest,” kiara said. after realizing they didn’t understand, she further explained “like all over her chest she said rubbing a circle not touching that area, but close enough for the boys to understand.
tears started to come from popes eyes, trying to imagine the pain it must have caused her.
“she will be ok, she just needs good rest, i don’t think she’s slept for days.” sarah said, trying to reassure pope.
john b couldn’t help but let tears fall from his eyes, quickly trying to wipe them so sarah didn’t see. after all, it was his little niece.
“it’s ok to cry, babe,” she said, giving his shoulders a nice rub while he pinched the bridge of him nose.
jj just stared out on the water, looking numb. they realized they should comfort jj, he was the one who needed it most.
“there wasn’t anything i could do,” he started, “i should’ve been with her.” he said guilt rushing into his face.
“that little girl inside there,” pope started pointing to the château, “is not blaming you right now. now are we going to sit here and cry or help her get through this?” he continued, bringing hope and a short smile to the pogues faces.
they walked inside after taking a few deep breaths. “hey kid,” john b knocked on the door. “do you want us to come in?” he said asking through the door.
“h-hold on” she said, hiding jjs lighter she was going to use for SH. she opened the door to see all the pogues giving her a sincere look. they hopped onto her bed.
“hey kid, we’re going to have to talk about this more in the morning, but for now, let’s just lay here. jj pulled y/ns aching body in for a hug, and the rest joined.
they let y/n sleep and left the room. “i don’t know about you guys, but i think we handled that pretty damn well.” pope said, lighting the mood again. they smiled and came up with questions they were going to ask y/n tomorrow, until they were exhausted themselves.

uneditied WIP: class reunion
ty @lapse0freason for the inspiration 💜
Charlie Slimecicle x Reader m/f
Also just like, one day my reader pic will be not a girl but I'd have to come to terms with some dysphoria
Tw: a little bit of blood
I'm not particularly looking forward to the class reunion but I did want to check out the old highschool. It's been years since I've been back in that building and I want to revisit the places id made so many memories in. Curiosity makes my mind wander over old classrooms, the library, the secret places i'd snuck off to, the rooms most kids never saw.
I was a little bit of everything in highschool. I went to Bible studies on Friday evenings and watched teenagers snorting lines in adult mens living rooms on Saturday nights. I tried debate club, French classes, photography, the student council, band, advanced English and Biology. I worked, first at our local theater, then at a big chain grocery store, and then an office clothing store in our empty mall. I drank in first period chemistry class, out of a coffee cup, and tried cigarettes in the roof of some guys garage. I carried the tendancy to change trajectory well into my adult hood. I also held on to the nicotine addiction. With a handful of strange careers on my resume and a million crafty hobbies, I've only really started to know who I am.
I think maybe that's a big part of the reason I don't care to see my old friends. I was barely a person back then all most of those years were tainted by a deep longing to be someone. I'm a person now, I think. Therapy has helped with that. Most classmates either stayed in town and never changed or escaped this little city and really grew.
I'm stuck in between. I made it out more than once, but this black hole of a prarie town finds a way to suck you back to it when you're at your lowest. I've had a a few two many moments of being at my lowest.
I'm still going to go, purple hair, lip ring, tatoos, and all. I'm sure I'll get recognized, because while a little older, my face is the same. I've gained a little weight, I'm single, and I don't really have anything to show for myself. But I don't care? Like, how do I explain. Hmm. I used to care with every inch of my soul what these people thought of me and it was obvious. I give off an unsettling vibe that I can't describe, but that's just kind of who I am. It's the autism, I know it is, but it's fun to romanticize myself as a mysterious, unknowable main character.
I just don't think I'll have any reaction to anyone at the reunion. I just kind of want to see what happens, you know? There's a spark of cruelty in my heart that wants to see the people who never changed, never grew. I want to see them judging me and have the ability to just not care.
Little black dress, sheer black tights, knee high boots, and a jacket that makes it all look a little more professional. I debate over some of my stranger accessories, but there's no need to draw extra attention. Loud purple hair handles that in its own.
So hours later, when I'm standing alone near the punch bowl I really only have myself to blame. Friends and people I partied with said hi. I'd chatted with a few handfuls of people I used to know.
There was a commotion nearby as a group of men met up together. They were recognizable but hard to place. Zach, Nate, Eric and-
"Charlie!" one of the group yells out as the last approaches.
Him I recognize. He's different now, no glasses, nicer hair, and incredible clothes. Thankfully the group of them are too busy to notice me checking him out. I don't really make out what they say, but Charlie is shushing them and glancing nervously over his shoulder.
Charlie used to be the biggest nerd. Swim team, band practice, drama club, and always going on about D&D. Suddenly I'm wishing I took him up on his offer to join a campaign back in the day. He'd asked me out once when my interests had overlapped with his, but I was dating a musician- some guy who was way too old for me. John? Was that one of the John's I'd dated? Probably. Since then I'd played a bit, but adult life really sweeps you away if you let it.
A group of girls I sometimes sat with at lunch approaches me with hugs and questions and my attention wanders away from the boy I used to know. I listen to them talk about their lives and families. Talk of careers, kids, and family vacations fill the air with chatter.
When one of the girls asks about me I answer, "Freelance writing, nothing exciting," and then talk about some blogs I've written for. It's not a lie, and I'm not really interested in letting old classmates know that the awkward kid they went to school with is the anonymous writer of last year's most popular spicy, fantasy romance novel. I wrote under a pseudonym for a reason.
Eventually I'm given a good moment to sneak away and wander out into the halls. Several of the hallways are closed off but as I make my way through the courtyard I see I'm not the only one with the idea to sneak away. A long-over couple reliving their glory years, kissing at the old metal picnic table, and some men who never really grew up trying to break into a teacher's classroom are easy to slip past. When I slip down a side hall and find my secret entrance to the library, I think I'm safe. As a naturally nosey kid, I'd found all of the strange rooms and extra hallways in this prison of a building. I smile to myself, it was always fun to tell people that the highschool I'd attended has been built decades ago by a man well known for designing prisons.
The layout is different, but not by much. It's dark, the library only half-lit after hours. I reminisce about the times sneaking in here to be alone after a club meeting, making my way out the exit that didn't set off fire alarms. My favorite seating place has new couches but they're arranged the same as before. I settle into my favorite spot and put my feet up on the low work table. Eyes closed, remembering all the books I'd finished in this exact spot, I'm startled when I hear him speak.
"Hi?" The voice asks quietly and I jump to my feet, spinning to defend myself to whatever staff caretaker had found me here.
"I'm sorry I-," my breath catches when I see it's not a staff member. It's Charlie.
"It's okay," he holds up his hands like he's going to calm me down, "I didn't know anyone else knew how to get in here,"
"Yeah," I stand there awkwardly, unsure if I should try to leave, "I used to hang out here in the evenings,"
He moves around the loveseat and takes the spot next to me, "I came here early morning, before practice,"
I smile nervously, settling back into my seat and trying to get comfy again. He fidgets with his fingers and brushes a hand back through messy hair. As he does I remember his side part, how he used to spend so much time tucking it into the right spot. I can't help but laugh.
"Everyone's older but exactly the same," I murmur.
He looks at me, uncertain, but responds, "Yeah. Yeah, it feels like being teenagers again,"
"So what have you been up to, Charlie?" I lean my head back into the couch again, "Still playing D&D?"
"Oh! Uh yeah, lots now actually," I can practically feel him perk up beside me, "There's a few campaigns in the go, I ran a vampire one a little while ago that was great,"
"The Masquerade?" I peak an eye open at him, "That's what my groups playing right now,"
"Damn, who's the lucky guy who convinced you to play?" The world's leave his mouth and I can feel his nerves in the air.
I chuckle again, "No guy, just some friends I used to work with. My main gm, she's great, loves vampire, but I've never done a traditional fantasy campaign."
"What's the story about?" He asks.
"We're a bunch of vampires living in a small town in British Columbia. We're only a couple of sessions in. I'm playing a musician- daughter of cacophony,"
Charlie and I take turns asking eachother questions about campaigns and the time passes easily. When I realize how late it's getting I stand, "There's another room that I want to see if I can get into, wanna come?"
"Sure!" Charlie stands with me, "What room?"
"You used to be able to get into the science lab through the room next to it. They share a closet." I grin, feeling pride in my knowledge of secret passage ways.
We sneak up the stares and around a barrier placed in the hall; the same kind they used to keep kids from sneaking around at school dances. There was no chaperone blocking the way this time and it was easy to get around.
I pull Charlie around stored science equipment and through the closet into the lab. He takes a seat at one of the tables and I walk through the rows, running fingertips over familiar cracks in the surface that had only deepened in the last decade.
"You know, I'm surprised you remembered me," he says eventually as I peer at the beakers and bottles on the side counter.
"Oh?" I turn back to look at him in the dark.
"Yeah I mean, we didn't really spend that much time together," he grabs into his sentence quickly, like he's covering for a real reason.
I take a seat at the table in front of his, turning a chair around to face him, "Hoping I forgot you asked me out?" When he starts to stammer I laugh again. "Sorry, just teasing you. You were cute, how could I forget?" My confidence is surprising, but I hold a steady grin.
"Uh, thanks!" He blurts out, hand fidgeting with his hair again.
"I probably didn't tell you back then, but I was dating some guy who was way too old to be with a teenager. Definately my loss that I turned you down," I reach across the table and touch his hand.
He doesn't meet my eye, just watches the place our fingers are touching. He doesn't pull away either.
I'm the one to break the moment, turning my head to the far wall, "Hey were you in the class when that kid set the lab on fire?"
"Oh my god, yeah! You too, right?" He stands up, goofy grin in his face, and walks over to the outlet.
I follow, "I wonder if they ever painted over the scorch marks," I shine my phone' flashlight at the wall. We both look closely, bodies brushing against eachother, until I look up at the bottom of the cabinets. "They missed a spot,"
Charlie turns to duck his head and peer up at the scorched wood. The wonder on his face is shiftry replaced with pain as he moves to stand back up and cracks his head into the cupboard.
"Shit!" He leans back on the counter, and flying up to his forehead.
"Oh fuck," concearn sweeps over me and I step up to him. "Close your eyes," I direct as I shine the light on his face. I pull his hand away and lift his hair. There's a small gash and a trickle of blood running down his forehead.
"Is it bad?" He asks.
"Here, hold your hair up, lean back," I direct, turning my body and light away to look for a first aid kit. "You're bleeding a little, it doesn't look deep," I quickly find a bandage and disenfectant wipe, returning to Charlie with the light.
"Hey!" He protests as my flashlight shines in he eyes.
"Sorry, don't move," I mutter, moving his hand to hold his hair back. One hand holding up my flashlight, I carefully clean the blood and apply the bandaid to his face. I turn off the light, and after the little crises is felt with, we're left standing in the dark, face to face.
After a charged moment standing in front of eachother Charlie breaks the silence, "Will I live, doc?"
"No, surely you'll pass in the night. Best to get your affairs in order," I play along with the bit.
"Well if it's my last night alive-" his words trail off and in the dark I feel his hand find the side of my face. My thoughts freeze at his gentle touch and after a moment I lean forward. His lips meet mine and we kiss. It's soft, tender, and my chest feels warm. Our faces break contact but neither of us move away. Charlie kisses me again, this time pressing harder, pulling my body millimeters closer. My arms make their way around his shoulders as our noses brush. Our lips meet for a third time and the desire between us becomes apparent. His hands find my lower back and my torso presses against him. Charlie surpresses a moan when I suck on his bottom lip.
While we catch our breath he speaks, keeping his voice low, "Wanna get out of here?"
