The kids are in good moods from a succession of dates last time I played the house, and Sean reaps the benefit when he gets the mail. Eskilstuna daggers

Eskilstuna is a Swedish town with a centuries-old tradition in metal-smithing and especially cutlery. While Mora is famous for its simple and sturdy knives, Eskilstuna went for flair.

These daggers are from ~1850 to ~1950, though they're still made today. They usually come with intricately carved wooden or metal hilts, steel singled-edged blades (designs vary, but a curved tip is common), and even more intricately carved sheaths, often made of tin. Sizes vary from ~12 cm (these are decorative more than anything) to ~30 cm, but most are somewhere in the middle.

Monster headcanon playlist - a summary - part I

Hi, everyone! A week ago I’ve decided to make a Monster (Naoki Urasawa’s work) playlist, available now on Spotify

This posts it has not only been created to share this sum of songs but to illustrate more about my decision of why to choose some of the musics as well. It contains my personal opinion about the masterpiece but canonical events as well.

75 songs were added into that playlist, but I’m going to give a raise on the 10 top songs (5 songs in this first part of post), dividing into english songs and german/russian songs. Yep, german/russian songs ‘cause I believe this representation it is very important to the drama and It’s something I didn’t see in other playlists (sorry not sorry)

Disclaimer: We all know that Monster focus on the German and Czech events, but the choice to add specific Russian songs instead of Czech were mostly personnal.

3. ‘Goodbye Horses’, by Q Lazzarus

This is a song that I've listening to since I've discovered that were on 'The Silence of the Lambs (1991)' OST.

This book it’s very special to me and it is totally referable to the Urasawa's works due to psychological link they both have. Also, this lyric seems to me like a intimate mono-dialogue between Tenma, who represents hopes and Liebert, the tragical twin, conducting the conversation.

4. ‘Roman Candle’, by Elliott Smith

'He played himself, Didn't need me to give him hell, He could be cool and cruel to you and me, Knew we'd put up with anything.

I want to hurt him, I want to give him pain, I'm a roman candle, My head is full of flames, I'm hallucinating, Hallucinating.'

It represents rage in a sum, right? The first parts reminded me of Bonaparta and the twin's relationship, so much abuse they've got into and how Liebert as kinda of develop to support a lot of problematic aspects of the worst in the human bein.

    The secound part tho..reminded of Tenma. He was writed to simbolize Light, but we all know that it wasn't something he always got right. His rage for all the crimes that Johan was commiting while transforming his life in a living hell...well, that wasn't something easy to perform throught it, we all know that.

　皆様お疲れ様です。大晦日ですね。今年も一年の総括記事の時期ですね。今年こそは年明け前に投稿すべく12/11から少しずつ書いています。気合い入りすぎなのでは？

　

＜動画について＞

　今年の投稿数は2本でした。

　ご覧になられましたか？ 見たことある方は何度見てもよいのですよ。もういいって？ まあまあ、そうおっしゃらずに。とにもかくにも、ありがとうございます。

　昨年はダンエタ小バズがありましたが、今年はどの動画もそういったことはありませんでした。ただ全体的に細々と再生回数や高評価をいただけて、非常に嬉しいです。

　

　今年はINTERVALSが2本でした。再三にわたりお伝えしていますが、もうINTERVALSやりませんから！ と決意新たにしていた所、先日Fractal Audioのクリスマスプレゼント企画のGift of ToneでAaronのプリセットが配られたので、ソレを使って……とはなりません。去年配っていたら今年の動画に間に合ってたのにという悔しさがあります。このプリセットですが、音はCircadian以降のハイゲイン系で、特に近年ハマっているらしいリードにモジュレーションをガッツリ掛けているタイプの音だったり、クリスタルクリーンが入っています。残念ながら(？) The Way Forward時代のクランチはありません。かなり使える音でして、個人的に最近お気に入りのハイゲインアンプのRevvでリズムトーンが作られていたり、自分がTouch＆Goの音作りの時に使っていたPrecision Driveや、同じアンプモデルであるFriedmanのHBE V3が使われていたのでなんだか嬉しくなりました。ちょっと余計なこと長めに書いてしまった。

　

　次回動画については前回の記事で書いていたものは……多分やりません。私生活のことについてバタバタしていたのと、練習はしていたのですがそもそも技術面で不得手なことがあり、自分の中で許せるレベルに到達しそうにないためです。代案として短い動画でも出そうかと思っています。と書いていたところで「そういえばショート動画とか流行ってるよな」と思ったのでちょっとやる気になりました。年明けにでも出したいです。

　

　年間目標は2本としていますが、今年に関しては正直どうなるか分かりません。春まではほどほどに時間があると思うのですが、恐らく5月以降と、夏～秋は絶対無理ですね。転職やら恐らく引越やらで多忙……になってないと人生終わってしまいそうなので。ギターは弾いているはずです。カメラもそろそろ新しいの欲しいなと思いつつお金がありません。私の好きなものはお金です。以上。

・Mayones Duvell（売った）

　就職祝いで買い、退職と共に売却の運命でした。一番の理由は新しい竿のための生贄ですが、コロナ前までの大学時代のサークルOB/OGによるライブが無くなったので当初の使用目的が失われたことや、想定よりダウンチューニングで弾きたいものがなかったことなどが挙げられます。結構長めにオークションに出してましたが無事売れました。地域的に遠からず（遠いには遠いけど）の方が買ってくださり、しかもその購入者さんは僕の動画を見てくださったようで温かいメッセージまで送ってくださったので嬉し恥ずかしでした。これ見てますかね。多分見てないかな。大切に弾いてもらえたら嬉しいです。ご存じの通り、いいギターですので。

・Master 8 Japanのピック

　先日色々買い集めました。コンテンツ的に書いたのですがどハマりはしていません。最近のブームはジムダンのJP Trinityです。シェイプがミニトライアングルなので近いモノを集めてるのですが、某ネットショップ（音家さんではないです）オリジナルの激安ミニ△は素材と厚さ別で10枚程度買ったのですが全てダメでした。やはりジムダン……ジムダンは全てを解決する。

　

・SugiのPU交換（純正に戻した）BKP売却

　これは別記事を執筆中ですのでここでは書きません。

　今年も大きい金額の購入はありませんでした。来年はどうなるでしょうか。と書いていたら円相場の回復の兆しが見えてきましたね。130円を切ったら何かあります。以上。

　

　

＜聴いていた音楽について＞

①Allegaeon - DAMNUM

　「聴いていた」と書いていますが実際は先月末からなので聴き始めて1ヶ月程度です。メロデス寄りのテクデスおよびエクストリームメタルですかね。2023年は自分の中でメロデスブームの年でしたが、重くてクサくて速くてテクいの聴きたくて探していた中のAllegaeonでした。アメリカって感じのメタルで実によきです。類似バンドで挙げられるFirst Fragmentsはダメでした。あれはスパニッシュでネオクラでカオティックでしたので。

　

②Stortregn - Finitude / Impermanence / Emptiness Fills the Void

　かつてはブラックメタル系のスイスのバンドで、メロブラやメロデス要素が段々と強くなっていき、さらに前作『Impermanence』でプログレッシブ成分が足された結果、最新作『Finitude』はモダンなプログレッシブエクストリームメタルにシフトチェンジした印象です。個人的には「プログレッシブデス」というとデス要素がオールドスクールな感じがしているのですが、それに比べるとメロデス成分があり、派手なサウンドも含めてモダンなバンドだと感じました。正直このバンドは2023年の大当たりです。

　ギタリストのJohan Smithはクラシックギター界で有名な方で、音大の修士号取得、各コンテストでの優勝多数、オーケストラ共演など世界的に高い評価を受けているのですが、こんなメタルバンドもやっているようです。これでまた一つ、メタルが世界一素晴らしい音楽であることの証明がなされてしまいましたね。そんな前置きで期待値が高まっていたのですが「テクさ」に求めている「音数が多い人外ギターソロ」はありませんでした。ただ過去作では少なかったギターソロパートは最新作になるにつれて増えていきます。強いて挙げる残念ポイントはここだけ。

　単純なメロデスのクサさや叙情的なメロディではなく、クラシックを通っているだけあって音楽理論的に優れた頭の良い和声の動き/音使いがあります。この点が他のバンドとの差別化に繋がっているようです。楽曲のダイナミクスや随所で挟まれるクラシックギターによるメロディパート、高速ブラストビートによる攻撃・暴虐性の高さ、楽器陣のサウンドプロダクション、主張する部分/アンサンブルに混ざる部分を弁え楽曲ファーストの考えが感じられる等、非常にクオリティが高いです。オススメ。

　

③Kalmah - The Black Waltz

　ブラストビートがあるメロデスを探していて見つけました。本バンドの作品で最も評価が高いアルバムだそうです。そもそもボドムフォロワーバンドですので、似ている曲が多いです。個人的にはボドムが嫌いなのですが、少なくともこのバンドのこのアルバムは結構好きです。ただピークは前半4曲までですかね。この辺りを聴いて「もっとテクいの探した方がよいのかも」と気付きました。

　

④Night Crowned - Tales

　こちらもブラストビートのあるメロデス。メロデス？メロブラ？ ドラマーが巧いなと思いますが、メロディラインは北欧感強めです。曲によっては好みからは外れていました。そのため強く刺さる楽曲は少なかったです。記録用に残していましたが書いたのでライブラリから消します。

　

⑤Insomnium - Anno 1696 / Avove the Weeping World

　2～3月に知ったと思います。春はあけぼの。夏は夜。秋は夕暮れ。冬はめろです。雪原や吹雪を眺めながら聴くとキマります。激エモツインメロディのトレモロリフと高速バスドラムを聴けば昇天する気持ちよさ。新作の残念ポイントは全体の楽曲BPMがスローなことです。曲が高速でギターソロがもっとあれば、クサさは言うことなしなのでパーフェクトですね。後者のアルバムは古い作品です。音に時代を感じますが楽曲は結構好きです。ネットのレビューでは評価が高くないので悲しいです。

　

⑥Eidola - The Architect

　ポストハードコア。Makariが好きなので類似バンドとして以前から知っていましたが、知った当時の2018年はMVが少なく、刺さる楽曲も少なかったため聴き続けることはありませんでした。今年になってApple Musicで2021年の最新作が流れてきたのですが、非常に良かったです。本人たちも言っていますがプログレッシブな要素が多いバンドです。上半期の、特に初夏は沢山聴きました。スーパー歌ウマで気持ちがよいです。VoはDGDのギタリストでもあるようです。この辺のバンドを個人的にDGD界隈と呼んでいます。Blue Swan Recordsですね。DGD、年に何回か聴いてみるのですが全く好きになれませんので今年で諦めました。

　

⑦Wolf & Bear - Everything is Going Grey / Bloodletter

　ポストハードコアです。実は結構好きなジャンルだと判明しました。ちなみに00～10年代の古き良き系ではなく近年の比較的ポップな感じです。ポップですよね？ そしてこちらもDGD界隈です。亡くなったBaがDGDでした。

　リピートしていたのはMVの楽曲です。すごく好き。他はほどほどで、なんなら最新作は楽しみにしていたものの刺さる楽曲がありませんでした。全体的にクリーンVoの主張が強くなり、流行りのR&B的なシャラくさいメロディ / ノリ / パートが増えてしまった印象です。新しく入ったギタリストはセンスのあるピロピロオブリを弾くのと、Kieselの黒いスーパーストラトがカッコイイです。ジャケットは日本と韓国と中国がミックスされた「アジアは大体一緒だろ？hahaha!!」なアメリカを感じます。

　

⑧MØL - Jord / Diorama

　デンマークのバンドです。Deafheaven直系というネットレビューを見て知りました。確かにその感じがあります。アルバムは2枚のみ。全体的にOCHLと同じ陽のエッセンスが強いです。ほとんどがメジャー系のポップな明るい曲調です。陽のブラック��イズ。

　ただDeafheavenが200％の爆発力があるとしたら、こちらは良くも悪くも100％で収まってしまいます。曲は短く聴き疲れしにくいという利点はあります。サウンドのタイトさがあるので、よりメタルを感じることもできます。一番好きな曲は『Diorama』にありますが、作品通しての出来は『Jord』に軍配が上がります。2人（ライブでは+1）いるギターの一方が近年Suhrを使ってますがあまり合うジャンルじゃない気がするのは私だけでしょうか。

　

⑨Deafheaven - Roads to Judah

　そんなブラックゲイズ（以下BG）本家。でもDeafheavenをBGと言ってるとBGガチ勢から怒られると聞きました。界隈こわすぎ。

　大好きなバンドですが実はこのアルバムだけ聴いていませんでした。1stなのでクオリティを期待せず、なんなら若干ナメていたのですが、1曲目からクライマックスでした。彼らは最初から完成されていたんですね。

　

⑩New Jeans - OMG　

　オッマオッマガ～！ネットニュースになったNew Jeansおじさんになりたくないのですが曲がいいので聴いています。アイドルコンテンツは好きではありません。でもハニ氏はかわいいと思います。CookieやHype Boyも好きです。インストだけで聴くのもアリです。

　

⑪Helloween - The Dark Ride

　これは青春時代の思い出アルバムの1つです。高校生の時にメタラー隣人夫婦の方に借りた、人生初Helloweenがこのアルバムです。ですので「代表曲はEFF」とか言われても実は釈然としていません。タイトル曲がすごく好きです。当時のメンバーとの仲間割れおよび版権問題からストリーミングおよびデジタル販売されないアルバムらしいので、数年振りにCDを買いました。他と比較するとテイストが異なっているため賛否両論……かと思っていましたがレビューでも好きという声が多くて嬉しいです。

　

⑫柴田淳 - ブライニクル / 私は幸せ / あなたと見た夢 君のいない朝

　しばじゅんはお風呂BGMの定番です。今年の総再生時間は8,194分でApple Music内でのトップ100リスナーだったらしいです。やったね。ちなみに上田麗奈さんのトップ100リスナーでもあります。やったね。これまで聴いてなかったアルバムの開拓ということで3枚を聴きました。基本的には静かな楽曲が好きです。ご結婚おめでとうございます。失恋です。

　

⑬明日の叙景 - アイランド

　日本のポストブラックメタル。そしてJ-Pop。この切なくて明るい感じはまさに日本ですね。とてもよかったです。ドラムのブラストが若干遅いのと、アルバムライブのセトリが曲順じゃないのと、ライブの最後に演奏する一番人気の楽曲が裏打ちでしゃらくさいこと以外は。モヤモヤに熱が入り長文で書いていたのですが、何かの間違いで目に入ってしまうことがあったら忍びないので大幅にカットしました。1,4,8,9,10,11が好きです。ジャケット可愛い。

　

⑭三森すずこ - R / B / P

　三森すずこ御大。王道正統派アニソンで好きです。その手の音楽を聴きたい時に外さない点数を出してくれます。リンクの曲が好きですが『R』が一番聴きやすいです。

　

⑮遠野朝海 - Comfort

　「これ好き！」となりました。静かなピアノとウィスパーなVoでリラクゼーション。Chouchouに近いエッセンスを感じます。メジャーではなく同人音楽（と呼んでよいのか？）で活動されています。応援してます。

　

⑯arabesque Choche - eclogue

　ピアノインスト。リリース前日にYouTubeで生演奏の配信があったのですが、時間も時間だったので電気を消した真っ暗なお風呂入りながら観ました。とんでもなく癒されたのでその日以来、お風呂に携帯を持ち込んで何かを観るというのがブームになっています。置き場のための板と防水スピーカーと防水ケースの導入を進めています。これはレビューではありませんね。楽曲？ 全部好きだから特にコメントしません。

　

　以上です。あとは今までに好きな曲やバンドやアルバムを何度も何度も聴き返していました。「好きなのにまだ聴いてない」のは、まさにコレが原因で、自分は繰り返し聴いて満足するまで次に進めないタイプのようです。以上。

　

　

＜その他趣味や生活について＞

①退職

　約4年務めた会社を辞めます。もっと稼いでやりたいことやって欲しいもの手に入れたいとか、この仕事やってる年とった自分想像したらゾッとしたとか、世の中には信じられないほど頭の悪い人間がいてそんな底辺を相手にしないといけない現実にストレス溜まるとかが理由です。去年も似たようなこと書いてました。退職に際して手間とか先の心配による心労もありますが、体力があって現実に追いつける今のうちに行動しないと人生詰んでしまうので、それに比べたら比較にならないほどマシです。他人の責任は取れないですけど『タタール人の砂漠』という小説、オススメですよ。人生訓になります。

　健康面ですが体の不調も増えてきました。老いは怖いし、健康な体って素晴らしいですよね。ボロボロな状態で生き続けるよりも、どこかでサクッと人生が終わったら楽でいいのに、と希死念慮と長いこと付き合っていますが、精神がまともな人間は希死念慮、無いんですね。あと過去の恥ずかしいことを思い出して変な声出ることも無いらしいです。マジ？

　

②読書

　今年も本、それなりに買いました。寝る前の読書が最高です。家が非常に狭いので用意できないのですが引越したら本棚欲しいです。今は押し入れでカビないように除湿剤とセットで読み終わった本を積んでいるのですが、スペース的にギリギリになってきました。

　

③映画

　上半期は観ていたのですが、下半期は全然観なくなりました。Touch＆Goの練習やら録音やらMIXやら動画撮影および編集で4ヶ月ほど休日の時間を音楽に割いていたので、すっかり習慣が抜けました。11月の暇な日に数本観ましたが、以前まで使っていた鑑賞記録とレビュー書くアプリは使ってないです。若干SNS的な繋がりがあるのですが、思い切って消そうかな。人間関係リセット癖に近いものがある。

　

④ギター弾いた

　今年はすごくギター弾いてました。大学卒業以降で一番長かったと思います。そして楽しかったです。使命感ではなく、ただただ楽しいから弾くばかりでした。一番良いやつですね。ずっとこんな感じでいきたいです。なんだかんだ15年弾き続けてきましたが、社会人になって辞めてしまう・弾かなくなってしまう人も沢山いる中で、変わらずずっと続けているので「自分音楽大好きじゃん！」と再認識しました。
