Green Lantern Villain Movie Ideas, Part XXIII: Icicle
Joar Mahkent AKA Icicle (and Cameron Mahkent/Icicle Jr.) are major recurring villains that are way more important than I realized, originating as a villain that Alan Scott's Green Lantern initially faced, before becoming standard members of the Injustice Society of America, such prominent members in fact, that they seem to have become the go to villain for every appearance of the Justice Society in most of their adaptations. So . . . fourth most important DC ice baddie?
Origin Movie: He's also an option for an Alan Scott movie, after Solomon Grundy. I figure I'd go with Joar, probably recreate his initial story with the whole murder mystery aspect.
Sequel Movie: I'm kind of regretting my decision to have only one installment for each animated Justice Society characters, because Icicle and Solomon are both such iconic villains. Maybe two movies, with Solomon in one and Icicle in the other.
Finale Movie: Considering how many adaptations have featured the man, it's not unreasonable for him to be the main villain for a Justice Society movie.
Supporting Villain: If nothing else, he is for certain a go-to member of the Injustice Society.
Here are my rankings of them:
Supporting Villain: Honestly, they're all kinda tied, but if nothing else, I'd want him represented here.
Sequel Movie: I'm really tempted by two Alan Scott movies now. If nothing else, I plan to make him the villain of someone's movie.
Origin Movie: Same reasoning as the sequel.
Finale Movie: I'd probably have him part of the ISA, over being the main and only.
What do you think? Who should I cover next?
#joar mahkent#cameron mahkent#icicle#green lantern#green lantern movie#alan scott#injustice society#so we have Mister Freeze#then Captain Cold#then Killer Frost#Now Icicle#With Blue Snowman taking fifth I guess#DC likes Ice Villains about as much as it likes gorillas

i probably haven't read enough Golden Age Comics to make this (I've barely read any, really), but I just spent the whole weekend making this list of birthdates for Earth-Two DC heroes and villians. The Icicle III
Real Name: James Christie
All Appearances: The Flash Volume 2, #57-58
A down on his luck Wally West gets exactly the news he needs: he's been included in the will of former Justice Society villain The Icicle. It seems that Joar Mahkent went straight years ago and we came a multi-millionaire in the field of electronics. His will reveals that, because The Flashes are his favorite of the heroes he fought over the years, he's leaving half of his estate to whoever is currently wearing the cowl. He closes out the video well by mooning his relatives, which should give you an idea of how much you like them.
Wally and his friends get snowed in with the extended Mahkent family after the reading of the will. In the middle of the night, a scream rings out and Wally finds Icicle's granddaughter Doyle Christie Frozen solid. He rescues her and together they discover that her brother, James, has apparently been stabbed to death with icicles.
They are then it's hat by the apparent ghost of Joar. Yada yada yada, Agatha Christie with superheroes murder mystery, it turns out that James was the killer. He had used the ice gun to alter the face of his cousin, who was attempting to blackmail him out of his inheritance with knowledge of his drug running past. Doyle and The Flash work together to bring James down.
Unfortunately for Icicle III, Geoff Johns preferred the Icicle descendant introduced in the pages of Infinity, Inc. Cameron Mahkent, sometimes called Icicle Jr, would go on to be a major presence in the pages of JSA and consequently on television programs like Smallville, Young Justice, and Stargirl.
James is, assuming the story is still canonical, simply rotting in prison to this day.

Icicle’s not subtle in baiting his traps, is he? Luring Courtney and Pat with a big honking star made of ice, and leaving a trail of fliers to tempt the Crocks down a creepy manhole. They worked, sure, but neither screams “criminal mastermind”.
Twice successful, maybe the rats will be too smart for the third trap. Just speculating.

I get that being tall is hot or something but I'm tired of everyone in comics being giants. Yes I'm a short person myself, mind your business ;/
List of characters I headcanon as short (or, to specify, ~175 cm or less) I don't care what comic books depict:
Bito Wladon – around 172 cm is maximum I'll give him without shoes on heels idc
Totally debatable because ofc Mordru is hell of a character and should strike a lot of fear in one's heart but it's some pre-historic mofo who possessed magic. Imagine seeing him and thinking oh I thought he is taller just to be totally wiped out of earth's surface by 163-172 cm high dude
Felix Faust - 170 cm
Fauna Faust - 163 cm
You know what? Sebastian Faust could be 173cm or 185, nothing in between.
Icicle - 160-166 cm (he's "short and sweet" after all lol)
Pied Piper - 165 cm
Sorry but Sinestro strikes me as someone no higher than 175 cm??? 170, bye.
Open your heart on this one: Deathstroke – 169-173cm
About non-villains,
Give me one reason to think Jason Blood, a knight from Arthurian times, is higher than 175cm. 172cm at best, take it or leave it.
Wildcat (Ted) who is no higher than 175cm (Yolanda being between 158-163)? Yes, please!
Hourman higher than 173cm? Don't even approach me

The ages of each of the shown Justice Society members and their villians when they show up in Justice League of America #21-22 in 1963:
The Flash (Jay Garrick): Jay Garrick was born in 1918, so he'd be 45 years old in 1963.
Green Lantern (Alan Scott): Alan Scott was born in 1913 (in my headcanon), so he's turning 50 in 1963.
Hawkman (Carter Hall): Born in 1917, Carter Hall is 46 in 1963.
The Atom (Al Pratt): Born in 1921, Al Pratt is 42 in 1963.
Hourman (Rex Tyler): Born in 1913, Rex Tyler is 50 in 1963.
Black Canary (Dinah Lance): Since she was born in 1923 (in my personal headcanon), she'd be 40 years old in 1963.
Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson): Born in 1908, Kent Nelson is technically 55 years old. But through the magic of Nabu, he probably looks no older than 40.
The Wizard (William Zard): Born in 1913 (like Alan Scott and Rex Tyler), The Wizard is 50 in 1963.
The Fiddler (Issac Bowin): Born in 1915, The Fiddler is 48 in 1963.
The Icicle (Joar Mahkent): Just like The Wizard, Joar Mahkent was born in 1913, so he's 50 in 1963.
And before anyone asks, the majority of Infinity Inc would already be born by this point. With some exceptions (like Jade and Obsidian), most of these heroes and villians already have their kids by now.
