Chapter III ✧ A Distraction

Summary: Rhea needs a distraction.

After Damian left Rhea decided that he was right and that she needed to get her shit together at Crown Jewel. She was taking a shower when both Roman and Dom’s messages went through so she didn’t see them. She had also put her phone on dnd to get away from all the drama and have this day to herself. She decided to go downtown and walk around. When she was done with the shower she got dressed, put her shoes on, grabbed her phone and keys and went out the door.

She decided to go down the stairs rather than take the elevator. When she did, she was on her way to the exit when she noticed Zelina chatting with Natalya for a bit before she turned to leave and noticed her. “Oh, Rhea, you’re finally up—“

“Look, if you’re gonna ask, don’t bother.” Rhea immediately said as she began to walk past her. At that, Zelina rolled her eyes and managed to catch up to her.

“Nena por favor,” She said to her as she stood in front of her. “I’m not here to call you out on whatever shit you’re doin’.” At that, Rhea gave her an unconvinced look while the smaller woman spoke to her. “Some of us are minding our business about our own life, okay? Hell, I’m not even interested in making your life miserable or to seek beef with you. And, if I’m being honest here girl, you don’t look okay.” She told her as she gestured at the taller woman while shaking her head. “What I suggest you do is just wind down and forget aaaaaaany issues that you have going on or whatever. For a little bit, at least.”

“Hm. Yeah, you know, that’s exactly what it was going to do, Zelina.” Came out Rhea’s sarcastic remark, along with her sarcastic smirk as she looked down at her. “Which is why I’m asking you to please leave me alone—“

“No-no, wait, hold on, just hear me out.” Zelina interrupted her as she placed a hand in front of her to stop her from leaving. “… I’m not saying that you need it, but… I’m going with a group for drinks tonight.”

At that, Rhea blinked and arched an eyebrow. “And what does that have to do with…?”

Zelina rolled her eyes. “What I’m saying is that you need some booze, puta. That’s where I’m getting at.”

“Zelina, we literally work tomorrow.”

“And? Don’t tell me you’ve never woken up with a hangover before. Girl- if anyone needs it, it’s you.” Zelina pointed at her. “Listen, you do what you gotta do right now. But if you wanna tag along, text me before five-thirty so we can meet here at the lobby.”

“… you know who’s going?”

“Not sure. All I know is that a group is going. Look, Santos said that there’s a bar downtown that he went along with the other guys a few weeks ago and he told all of us that we should go. So right now we’re the ones getting people to join tonight. And right now, I’m getting you to come along, only if you want to.”

Rhea began to ponder, looking away for a few seconds before she turned to deliver her response to Zelina. “… I’ll be here at five.”

At that, Zelina perked up before she blinked, somewhat surprised by Rhea’s quick response. “Wait, for real?”

“Yeah for real, I’ll text you.” She simply said as she walked past her. “But only because I need to wind the fuck down.”

She walked away as Zelina watched her leave, blinking in surprise as she watched her go outside while she spoke to herself. “… okay girl, that’s the energy you need…”

6:00 PM

“We’re here!” Jimmy called out, a huge grin forming on his face as he parked the van near the parking area at the bar. “Also y’all, whoever is driving us back home, you better not get drunk cuz imma get fucked up!”

“Yeah yeah, Jimmy, that means you, right?” Came Finn’s comment as he snorted while Jimmy gave him a look as he sat up from the driver’s seat.

“Man come on, ya know we all need it, even me!” He opened the door as he got out first, all the while the others followed suit.

“Uh yeah, sure, y’all need it, but I’m just saying, we need to be back at the hotel cuz some of us work tomorrow, you know.” Raquel called out as she rolled her eyes, gathering some of her stuff as she followed the others outside as well.

“Well Raquel how ‘bout you keep an eye on us, eh?”

“Nah, not feeling like it.”

“… Damn.”

Disregarding the clamor, chatter and commotion around her, Rhea simply sat up from her place inside the van before she made her way out. She then looked at the bar from the outside, figuring and determining that this was the exact bar Zelina was talking about. She then looked at the time on her watch before she went and followed the group. A few drinks wouldn’t hurt even if she was scheduled to work later. After all, she needed to find some sort of distraction.

“Hey Rips,” She heard Damian’s voice as he caught up to her while they both walked in together along with the others. “Are you doing okay now?”

At the question, she wanted to shrug her shoulders and not say anything but knowing her best friend, she decided to speak. “I’ll be alright. Just need to drink for a bit.”

“Okay. I’ll be tagging along with Dom and the others, alright?” Damian nodded at her, hearing the sound of music almost competing with their voices as soon as they walked in while he opted to speak louder this time just so she could hear him. “If you need anything, we’ll be here!”

“I’ll let you know!” Rhea nodded as they both parted ways. She then sighed, going straight to the bar to order herself something to drink. As she did, Zelina was quick to interrupt her conversation with Carlito while approaching the Australian as she sat down with her.

“See? Told you it wasn’t a bad idea coming here.”

“Don’t get too comfortable. Not gonna thank you yet.” Rhea simply said as she while Zelina wanted to laugh at that.

“Nah, you’re gonna thank me later. Trust me, you will.” The bartender then approached them as Zelina ordered their drinks while Rhea looked out at the crowd of people who were drinking, eating, dancing, chatting, and literally doing anything that you would normally see at a bar.

“Hey.”

At the voice, Rhea perked up as she realized who it belonged to way too well. She turned to her side to see Dom approach her after he was speaking to both Finn and Damian from the other table. “Dom…”

“I left you a few texts. I… saw the ones you left last night.”

At this, Rhea suddenly went silent as she looked down. Zelina noticed this as she looked at the two. “I’ll… just walk away for now. Riri, if you want, imma be with Raquel. You can find us whenever you’re free.”

Rhea only nodded as the bartender served their drinks while Zelina paid for them both. “Thanks, by the way.”

“Lemme know if you’re getting refills!” The shorter woman called out as she was already walking away to Raquel’s table. Once she left, Rhea turned to Dom as she took a deep breath and finally spoke.

“Look. About last night, I…” Rhea told him as she took her drink in her hand and sat down on the stool chair near the bar while Dominik did the same. “I was intending on telling you at some point… but I wasn’t sure when. And I didn’t want to drag it any further, either.”

Dominik looked to his side for a second as he seemed to contemplate on her words. He then looked at her in the eye, with Rhea almost holding her breath and preparing for what he was about to say or do as he spoke.

“… did this all start after we went to help Roman and the Bloodline that night?”

“… yes.”

“How many times since then?”

“Four.” Rhea admitted, deciding to be truthful as a pang of guilt hit her like a tidal wave at that moment. “I wanted to stop it, I really did. But…”

“… you’re feeling something for Roman, aren’t you?” Came his sudden question which made Rhea look up at him, completely speechless.

“Dom, I—“

“Rhea, please.” Dominik sighed. “If it was a one time thing then maybe we would’ve just… you know, act like nothing happened and move on with our lives. I would’ve been fine with it. But four times?”

“But I still wanted to stop it.”

“Did you?” He asked her, almost doubting her sincerity for the first time as he looked at her. Rhea rubbed her forehead as she tried to find the words to speak and looked down.

“Look, I’m sorry, I… I don’t know what I was thinking. If I could take it all back, I would’ve done it by now. Trust me when I say this.” She looked him in the eye once again as she went and held his hand. Dominik looked at it, debating on whether he should hold it back or let go as she continued to speak. “Dom, please. I don’t want this to affect us. What we have. We both work together well, and… honestly, I can’t see myself without you. I can’t.”

He pondered on her words as he looked at her hand holding his, her thumb softly rubbing his knuckles. His gaze then softened after a while as he used his other hand to caress her hand as he spoke. “I need some time, Rhea. Just… let me think about it. And I’m sure you have a lot to think about as well. But right now, we can’t rush things after this. This doesn’t mean I’m leaving the group or anything, but… I just need some time on my own, too.”

Rhea remained silent at his words before she felt Dominik’s hand let go of hers slowly, watching him walk away. She couldn’t even find the words to stop him nor say anything as she watched him leave before she tried to compose herself by drinking. After a while, she left her chair and decided to look for Zelina and Raquel. She needed to distract herself from this shit. She had to.

What she didn’t know was that a certain Tribal Chief was watching her from a distance from where he sat along with Jimmy and Solo.

She had been looking for the two women for a while until she gave up. Sighing deeply, she decided to finish her drink and go back inside the van. Thankfully all of them within the group had access to the van since they shared the same keys, so she was able to go inside and lock the door behind her before she went to find her seat. She sat there for a while before she took a deep breath, still attempting to compose herself while she closed her eyes. She clenched her right fist while holding her phone and purse with the other one, until she could no longer maintain herself as she allowed her shoulders to drop and exhaled deeply.

She allowed a few tears to drop from her eyes, knowing that she needed to let all the pressure that she was feeling out, especially while being alone, all the while she was also quick to wipe them away.

She was going to lose Dom. All because of something she should’ve avoided herself from doing. Seeking help from Roman and the Bloodline was both a good idea and a bad idea at the same time. If only she had known this before, none of this would’ve happened. She only had herself to blame and now, things weren’t looking okay right now.

However, the damage was already done and Dom already spoke. He needed some time and space, even though he was still going to remain with the Judgement Day. Regardless, Rhea was beginning to fear that this was it. If Dom decided to end what they have, they’re done for. She’s done for.

Even though what Dom said about her needing some time to think as well was true, she refused to believe that she had her own doubts and thoughts about this whole thing. She knew she loved Dom, she really did. She’s always loved him ever since he decided to join her, Finn and Damian. He was her partner in crime, her person, her everything.

Someone just like Liv.

At that, she sighed deeply and rubbed her head. Now wasn’t the time to think about that. She’s moved on from what her and Liv had and that was it. She was different now, and she refused to go back to the way that she was way back then. That was then. Now, all she wanted was for her and Dominik to remain together.

But then, there’s also Roman.

At the simple thought of just his name, she wanted to pull her own hair out. Or better yet, she wanted to punch the window near her. Just by the thought of him she wasn’t even able to think properly to begin with. Ever since their night together, even. Or, more like ever since the second time that they slept together, which was after their match against Bianca and Bobby. At the thought of that moment, she even wanted to drown herself somehow. She didn’t want to remember anything from that moment at all.

However, it was still engrained in her brain, and there was no way to forget about it. Permanently, at least.

Sighing deeply, she went to the small bathroom inside the van as she checked on herself to make sure that it wasn’t obvious that she was crying or anything before she went out, gathering her phone and purse before she went back to the bar, acting as if nothing happened as she began to locate where Zelina and Raquel were, the music being louder this time as most people were already dancing at this rate. It was around 11:00 PM. Hopefully no one was already drunk, or else she would have to see herself dragging a few people back inside the van- one of them probably being Damian.

After a few minutes, she caught sight of Zelina as the smaller woman had left the dance floor and met up with Raquel again. When she turned around, she noticed Rhea approached. “Finally, it took you a while! Everything okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.” Rhea said as she sat down with them. “I hope I’m not bothering by sitting here.”

“No, you’re good.” Raquel said quickly as she shook her head. “We’re not in the ring right now, Rips. So you’re good, for now.”

Rhea gave her a smirk of her own as she looked at her. “We’ll see about that at Crown Jewel.”

“Oh, we’ll settle that score later, trust me.”

“Oye, oye, oye, we ain’t in the ring tonight, alright? Alright.” Zelina quickly told the two as she snapped her fingers at them. “Tonight it’s all about forgetting our issues temporarily and just living the moment. Speaking of which, let me get us some drinks, be right back!” She hopped off from her seat before going to the bar. Both Raquel and Rhea saw her leave while Raquel chuckled.

“Well, she has a point.” Rhea said as she shrugged. Raquel turned to her as she shifted in her seat.

“Yeah, let’s… you know what, forget about it.” Raquel dismissed. “I sent you a few texts, just wanted to see if you were alright.”

“Yeah. For now, at least.”

“Good. Cuz we’re gonna need you prepared for Crown Jewel, and I mean it. And honestly, if I end up losing first, well… you’d do me a big favor if you end up kicking Nia’s ass.”

“Oh, that’s a promise right there, don’t worry.” Rhea said as she snorted while Raquel snickered. “I’m not gonna let that slide, trust me.”

Both women chuckled amidst the sound of music and chatter before their conversation awkwardly paused for a minute or so. Nevertheless, Raquel looked out at the crowd of people before she looked at Rhea. “You know if… if there’s a chance of speaking about… you know.”

“About what?” Rhea asked as she turned to face her. Raquel seemed hesitant to speak for a moment before she found the will to do so.

“… about the past. You, me, NXT…? And also Liv and—“

“Raquel, no offense, but I’d appreciate it if we leave that conversation in the future.” The champion interrupted her. She didn’t seem mad or upset. She only seemed neutral, which was something that concerned Raquel for a bit. “Right now, I just want to forget temporarily and… it’s been a hell of a weekend.”

“I know, I understand now.” Raquel nodded, placing both of her hands together. “If that’s what you want, then I’ll respect it. But… just whenever you’re ready to talk about it and—“

“Order up!” Zelina’s voice interrupted Raquel immediately as she arrived with three drinks. “And don’t worry, it’s on me.”

“Again? Girl, are you sure you have enough money?” Raquel asked as she turned and took her drink while Zelina sat back down with them.

“I’ll be alright.” She reassured her. “Now come on. ¡Salud!”

“¡Salud!”

“Cheers!”

The three women clinked their drinks at the same time together before they began to drink.

The night went a bit fast for the group until it was around 2 AM. The bar was beginning to close just as the group was leaving. While some of them had gotten drunk, others were still sober and somewhat sleepy as they took a small nap in the van, waiting until they arrived at the hotel. Solo, who was driving and taking Jimmy’s place after the latter had indeed gotten “fucked up” as one would say, had already announced the group that they arrived back at the hotel as they started to wake up and get out the van.

On their way back inside, Finn and Solo had to carry a drunken Jimmy while Dominik and Rhea were helping Damian back inside his room. The others also made their way back to their rooms as the hotel was a bit empty and quiet. After a while, Rhea and Dom were able to get Damian sobered up as he was now resting on his bed. Both of them left the room after Dominik made sure that the other male was okay before he turned to Rhea.

“Well, I’ll… see you tomorrow, I guess.”

“Yeah… sleep well.” Rhea nodded as she folded her hands inside her pocket. Dominik kissed her temple and gave her a small smile before he began to walk away. Rhea then began to dither before she decided to speak up.

“Dom?”

“Hm?”

“… I’m sorry.”

“…I know. Take care, Rhea. And get some rest.”

With that, Dominik looked down for a second before he went to his room. After he left, the champion herself exhaled as she leaned her back against the wall. She didn’t feel tired nor sleepy at all. There was no use of her going back inside her room just to mop and contemplate about herself and her thoughts. She needed a distraction. Something to make her forget for a bit, again.

Suddenly, she remembers that the bar at the lobby downstairs was still open and that it only closed at 4:30 AM. She looked at the time on her watch. It was 2:20 AM. She could probably still go down and give herself at least one more drink. Perhaps maybe a swim around the pool too, if it was still open.

Making her choice, instead of going to her room, she went to the elevator and down to the lobby.

The ambience within the bar inside the hotel was unlike the one in which the group went to. It was a bit quiet, hence the lack of customers inside as well as with the calming music. Rhea had sat alone as she had her first drink, trying not to contemplate on how she should’ve probably been spending some time with Dominik instead of just being there alone with her own thoughts.

She shifted in her seat, looking up at the TV that was hanging by the corner of the bar, an episode of Private Practice playing as she could only opt to bore her eyes at the show. While she wasn’t a big fan of TV series and she was more of a fan of horror, thinking about doing any of her favorite things was the last thing on her mind right now. What she needed was anything to distract her from everything in her life right now.

It was then that she suddenly realized that when she had her phone in her hand, she remembered that she had placed her phone on DND since she left her room. Quickly, she unlocked her phone and turned her notifications on. Aside from needing to check her emails, she went to her texts first.

One text from Dominik which was from this morning:

‘Can we please talk rn?’

Well, they already did. So that was done… not in the way that Rhea wanted it to, but it was already done. She then went to the next; Zelina’s texts.’

‘Hope you’re doing ok!’ - Sent after they arrived from the bar.

‘Waiting for u at the lobby, wear something nice, girl!’ - Sent to her before heading to the bar.

Next up, she went and opened Raquel’s messages- something that she found untrusting, yet again, but it still didn’t hurt to open them. Most of them, which were about six texts, were mostly asking about if she was alright + hearing what happened the other night, but other than that, nothing.

Rhea then closed every message and even made sure to reply to any that she saw that needed a response. However, once she did, she realized that she missed one. And when she realized who it was, she didn’t even want to open it.

Roman.

‘We need to talk. I’m heading to your room rn.’

Her eyes widened at that as she immediately locked her phone, wishing that she didn’t open the message. It was sent to her this morning before she left. She began to process everything in her head as she looked at the time in which the message was sent. Roman had sent the message around the same time she went downstairs. Meaning that Roman could’ve possibly taken the elevator while she went down the lobby. She rubbed her face and grumbled beneath her breath. This could only mean that Roman was still actually seeking her even after everything that went down. Hell, she even unknowingly avoided him this entire day, all because she was too focused on avoiding her issues.

The question was, why did he want to talk to her? Didn’t he blame her for continuing on with their fling?

All of the sudden she heard a deep voice beside her.

“I’ll pay for her drink and a bourbon whiskey.”

And speak of the devil…

“Roman, what are you doing here?” Rhea said with an annoyed tone.

“I could say the same thing. I just wanted one last drink for the night, what about you?”

“That’s none of your business.”

“You became my business ever since we made that deal, and ever since we fu-”

“Yes I know, I was there. No need to remind me. That still doesn’t give the right.”

“Look, I'm just trying to help.”

“Well, I don't need your help.”

“I remember saying the same thing back then before being proved wrong by you.”

“You know what, I don’t have time to listen to this nonsense,” Rhea snapped. She chugged the rest of her drink and she was about to get up but was stopped by Roman grabbing her arm like before they had their first affair except this time she didn’t struggle.

“Do you think if I truly didn’t care I would be here?” Roman asked with a soft voice. Rhea didn’t reply instead she sighed and looked away.

“Rhea?”

“...”

“Rhea, look at me.”

“No, Roman, I’ve had enough.” This time Rhea started to walk away, Roman hot on her heels.

“Ripley, wait-”

“Roman, I need some fucking time-”

“Time for what? To drown in your own self pity or the fact that no one has actually taken the time to check on you?” Rhea didn’t know if it was the alcohol in her system or what Roman said but a tear ran down her cheek but quickly wiped it off before Roman saw it. They stopped in front of the elevator doors waiting for the doors to open in silence. The doors finally opened and they went in, that's when Rhea decided to speak.

“You don’t know shit about me, Reigns. And let me make this clear, my business is not your business. Get that through your thick skull.”

“Well as of lately your business also involves me, therefore it is not just your business, it is also mine,” he said standing in front of her while the elevator doors closed behind him, “and until all those problems you got going on are solved and you start acting like yourself, I will not be stepping back.”

“You’re very irritating, you know? But do whatever you want, that’s what you do anyway-” She was cut off by Roman roughly pushing her against the wall and claiming her lips.

“You argue too much,” Roman said into her lips. Rhea just stared at him, doe eyed debating whether she really wanted to push him away or not. Right then, the elevator doors dinged open. Roman looked at Rhea as if asking ‘where do you want to go’ she just nodded but he knew exactly what she meant.

He tapped her leg twice, signaling her to jump on him. He carried her to his hotel room, closing the door with his foot all while still kissing her. He placed her on the bed and started to take his clothes off, discarding them on the floor. Rhea sat back, leaning on her elbows admiring his toned body.

“Are you going to stay there staring or are you going to take those off?” he pointed at her clothes. She smirked before taking her shirt off and throwing it at him, revealing nothing underneath. He shook his head at her antics then crawled on top of her, kissing from her stomach up to her chest. She released soft moans when he began to suck and caress her breast, she ran her fingers through his hair as he did so. Rhea closed her eyes and let herself feel for once.

Roman mentally made it his mission to make her feel good after all the pain she had been going through. He slowly took her pants and panties off, taking his time admiring her like the first time. He wasted no time in putting her legs over his shoulders and putting his mouth to work. He shamelessly lapped over her wet folds like it was his last meal. Rhea's grip on his hair got tighter as her moans got louder. Her moans a sweet melody to his ears.

“Roman- I’m close,” she slurred out. Right when she said that he stopped his movements. She whined and opened her mouth to protest but Roman didn’t let her.

“Shh, I'll be right back,” he said before disappearing through the bathroom door. Rhea could only sigh in desperation. When he came back he was putting on a condom. When he got to the edge of the bed Rhea got on her knees and pulled him into a passionate kiss. Roman was taken aback but kissed her back immediately.

“Roman, fuck me please.”

He gently laid her back on the bed and placed a pillow under her back to make sure she was comfortable. He got in between her legs and entered her dripping core. Roman gave her a few seconds to adjust to his size before he began to move. Rhea pulled him down, her nails scratching his back while he kissed and sucked her neck and collarbone. Her moans only edge him to speed up his movements.

“Please don’t stop, Roman, I'm close,” she begged into his ear.

“I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.”

They had gone multiple rounds throughout the night and it was now 4 am. Both Rhea and Roman were worn out. Roman got up to throw away the third used condom of the night and went into the bathroom to get a wet cloth to clean Rhea up but when he got back into the room she was already asleep.

He placed the cloth back in the bathroom before getting into bed with Rhea. And right before falling into a deep slumber, he put his arm around her waist and pulled her body closer to his chest, placing a kiss on her forehead while gently caressing her lower back until sleep had finally taken over him.

so I've been playing gta 5 for the first time with my boyfriend, and only naturally in all my autistic whimsy i have to combine all my fave things Wouldn't it be hilarious if Trevor Philips was Gary Smith's dad? They even look kind of alike which is funny, same hair colour, same hairline LMAO, kind of same nose? taking this from the wiki to give it some kind of backthought?? - "His background is mostly unknown. He cites his parents as one of his "problems". Miss Abby speaks poorly of Gary's mother, and Mr. Smith is suggested to be Gary's grandfather since he shares the same last name and complains about the state of the family. Donald can be heard to mention that Mr. Smith (referencing either Gary's father or Grandfather) was kicked out of Bullworth Academy and went to prison. If this were true in reference to Gary's father, it could help explain Gary's behavior." Gary's Father isn't actually known, so it's open to headcanons and interpretations really. Would also explain why Gary is so fucked up - don't make me justify myself on this one, you know what Trevor is like. and if Trevor WAS Gary's dad, I wonder what he was like when he was present? I assume he left at a young age but, how terrible was his parenting lol And my boyfriend made a funny; Juri the jock could be related to Niko from GTA 4. I feel like Michael would probably be a distant uncle to Jimmy, that'd be hilarious. Imagine some bullworth students go on a trip to Los Santos, Gary sees his dad and is all like, WTF, then Jimmy sees his uncle and is just as confused. And obviously Jimmy's dad is James Earl Cash. LMAOO

Sorry for the late impressions on Mania night one. I was working late so I missed the Rhea/Becky and the 6 team ladder Tag match. Though I like how they finally split the unified tag titles apart. And giving R-Truth fka K-Kwik (yes, I've been watching wrestling THAT long) his Mania moment was 😙🤌🏽 I was making quick dinner during the Rey/Andrade vs Dom/Santos match, so I have nothing to say about that.

The Jay vs Jimmy match had some impact with the kicks, but something was missing. Though its not fair to compare but this match was definitely not Bret vs. Owen from Mania X. The six woman tag had Jade Cargill shining with her silver short hair 😍 And I felt that whip of Asuka by Bianca with the ponytail.

From what I saw, Night one was stolen by Sami vs Gunther and the main event of Cody/Seth vs Reigns and "The Final Boss" the Rock. First the IC Title match.

While I sensed that Sami was winning when the camera was panning his walk to the ring, this match had emotion. Definitely Sami's best match in WWE. The loss did nothing to bring down Gunther. On the contrary, now he can move up the world title tier of matches. And I'm curious to see how long it takes for Gable to turn heel against Sami.

As I mentioned above, I've watched wrestling for a long time. I've seen companies come and go but no company can put on a spectacle like WWE can. The four separate entrances leading into the main event, especially Seth's and the Rock's were amazing. And while the match wasn't tag team clinic, it had everything you wanted and more. The Rock silenced all the skeptics who wondered why he was main eventing Mania.

And Cody? We shall see if he rebounds from getting pinned to end a second consecutive night of Mania (Night 2 WM39 and Night 1 WM40) On to Night 2.

Franklin barreled through the door of my room.

Carefully applying my eyeliner in the mirror, I glanced at him. Chiseled jaw clenched and hands balled into fists, a frown marred the space between his arrogantly shaped brows. His strong, muscled arms wired tight beneath his white T-shirt, he stood at the ready for battle.

His cognac-brown eyes searched my room from top to bottom for unknown threats. “Tracey? You good?”

“Um, duh. I’m always fine.” I returned my attention to my makeup. “I’m gonna need you to tone down some of that masculinity. It’s totally uncalled for, super distracting, and it’s ruining my good vibes—”

His warm hand came down on my shoulder. I stiffened, his eyes shrewd and accessing as they bored into me. “You sent me a text saying that you were dying, that you needed my help. You sure you good?”

His voice was soft, filled with concern. My gut kicked. Maybe I shouldn’t have sent that overly dramatic text, but desperate times called for desperate measures. I needed help. Badly. Dad was always busy doing movie director stuff, Mom was too preoccupied with shopping and yoga, and Jimmy was a complete idiot, so Franklin was the only person I could rely on.

It’s been that way for months. He picked me up from school, assisted with my homework, helped me take selfies for Bleeter, talked me through every one of my frequent mental breakdowns—he was a life saver, literally. Because he was so selflessly awesome, I decided to keep him around. Mostly because he did stuff for me, but he also had a nice personality to boot.

And we looked hella good together. Whenever we were out and about in the city, people would stop and turn their heads to gawk at our beauty. I was a celebrity after all, the sexiest girl in Los Santos according to my Bleeter stalkers. And Franklin was powerfully built, dark-haired with stunningly amber eyes. He was a man who looked absolutely gorgeous just about every day of his life. It seemed effortless for him, and I would’ve resented that if weren’t besties.

I confessed, “I lied to get you here, okay?”

“Tracey…” Sighing, he pinched the bridge of his nose. “You scared the shit outta me, girl. What were you thinking—”

“Don’t be mad. I’m sorry.” I hugged him.

The tension in his muscles relaxed beneath my touch. I took his hand and flopped down on my bed. He sat beside me, our fingers intertwined. “A’ight, Trace. I’m here now, so what’s going on with you?”

“I have news,” I smiled. “The best news. You’re not gonna believe this, but Chad Dillington asked me on a date!”

He stared at me, his expression blank.

“Well?” I tapped his shoulder. “Say something! Aren’t you excited for me?”

“Who the fuck is Chad Dillington?” he asked.

“Are you kidding me?” Energy thrumming through me, I jumped to my feet. “He’s like the hottest, most popular guy at my university! He’s a quarterback for the football team, a committed member of the Alpha Omega Theta Pi—”

“The Alpha Omega what?”

“It’s a fraternity, Frank! Chad Dillington is a big effing deal, literally every chick on campus wants to bone him. He has the prettiest blue eyes and the cutest smile ever.” I twirled on my heels. “I can’t believe he chose me of all people to go on a date with. This is so, like, amazing!”

“That’s cool, I guess.” He shrugged. “You called me over here just to tell me that?”

“No! If there’s any hope in winning Chad Dillington’s heart, I’ll need support. Your support and guidance, in particular.”

His brows furrowed. “Uh…why?”

“Because you can help me understand him! Guys know what other guys are thinking, right? You and Chad have so much in common too. You’re both around the same age, you both like getting sweaty at the gym, you both like getting high—”

“No offense, Trace, but me and that preppy ass frat boy ain’t got shit in common. I’m sorry, but I’m finna pass on this one. Maybe one of yo’ friends at school can help you.” He stood and took off for the door.

“Wait!” I swerved in front of him, blocking the exit with outstretched arms. “You’re right, there are some stuff you and Chad don’t have in common. Like, for example, he’s way smarter than you and his parents are filthy rich.”

Franklin glared a hole into me, a muscle in his jaw twitched. Yikes. Probably shouldn’t have said that.

“But you’re sane,” I complimented. “Sensible, wise beyond your years, and levelheaded. You’re playing with a full deck, Frank. That’s a rarity in Los Santos, you know? Everyone here is crazy.”

“Including you,” he snapped.

“But you love me.” I hugged his muscled arm. “You’re like the ping to my pong, the yin to my yang, the butter to my bread, the chocolate to my milkshake…”

“That was cute until you mentioned the part about chocolate. Now it’s weird.”

“Frank, you have to help me!” I pleaded desperately; my mouth set in a pout. “I’m your best friend, you can’t abandon me when I need you most. It’s not fair! I’ll hate you forever if you do—”

He smothered my mouth with his palm, silencing me. “Fine, I’ll help you on one condition. No more whining and crying like a damn baby, it’s embarrassing. Makes my ears bleed, it’s horrible.”

I smacked his hand away. “Deal. Now shut up and listen.” Standing on the tip of my toes, I spoke quietly into his ear. “Chad invited me to a masquerade ball. It’s a top secret, invitation only party the fraternity is hosting at some old, underground speakeasy—”

“Girl, why you whispering?”

“Because it’s a secret. Mom and Dad can’t know about this, they’ll freak out. Promise me you won’t tell them. You know how overprotective they are, they never let me have any fun.”

“It’s all good, relax. Your secret is safe with me.”

“Swear on it.” I rose my pinky.

“I promise.” His finger curled around mine. “So the most popular douche bag motherfucker in school invites you to an invitation only masquerade ball…”

“Could you refrain from calling him a ‘douche bag motherfucker’, please?” I rolled my eyes. “Anyway, all the cool kids are gonna be there. The party is happening this weekend. Friday night. I only have two days to prepare. This is so short notice, I haven’t even picked out a dress.”

“Hey, you could always cancel.”

“No! A date with Chad Dillington is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I can’t back out now. I have to do this.” My stomach grew queasy and my hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I paced the room, my fingers laced taut until my knuckles turned white. “What if I screw everything up? What if he doesn’t like me?”

Franklin appeared in front of me. I jerked to a halt, riveted to the spot as his searching gaze burned into me, glimmering with golden flecks. Lost in the intensity of his eyes, something shifted in the air between us.

As he stared back, he changed…as if the impalpable wall he kept between us began to chip and splinter. His tough, guarded demeanor crumbled before me, revealing a soft vulnerability in his eyes. A tenderness I had no clue he was capable of.

He patted my shoulder and squeezed lightly, affectionately. My skin tingled from the warm, steady pressure of his touch. “Of course the frat boy is feelin’ you,” he said softly. “He’d be crazy not to.”

My cheeks heated. Since when did he become so flattering? “You’re just saying that to make me feel better,” I mumbled.

“Nah. I mean it.” He reached into his pocket for his phone and started tapping away at the keyboard.

I peeked at the screen. “What are you doing?”

“If you’re going to a ball, you gotta know how to dance.” He pulled up a Bleeter video of dancers clad in silk doing the Waltz. “Think you can do that?”

“Uh, I dunno. Last time I tried to slow dance with a guy was at high school prom. I slipped and twisted my ankle in front of everyone. Super embarrassing.”

“Let’s make sure you don’t trip this Friday, a’ight? We can practice together.” He propped his phone on my desk and took my hand in his, the other rested on the small of my back. “You ready?”

Our eyes locked, I nodded weakly, my breath coming in short and fast. The contact was electric, I could feel the edgy energy radiating from him—like a magnetic pull that grew harder to reject by the second. He started moving, his strapping body gliding across the carpeted floor with confidence and easy rhythm. Jeez, when did he get so good at this? He was a natural! My knees wobbly, I followed his lead to the best of my ability.

I felt so small and insignificant in comparison to him, my movement stiff and awkward. And it didn’t help that I was petite, barely over five feet, and he was huge—a tall, deep brown slab of solid muscle and well-exercised strength. The force of his presence was difficult to ignore in a crowded room, and doubly so in an enclosed place like this, so close to me…

After a few beats, the heat of his direct, prolonged gaze became overwhelming. I lowered my head shyly.

“Chin up,” he instructed, tipping my head upward with a gentle push of his thumb under my chin.

Sucking in a harsh breath from the mind-boggling intimacy, I lost my footing and tripped over my own feet. He caught me in his arms just before I collided with the floor, his strong-featured face hovered over mine. Hit with all that striking masculinity at eye-level, I could only stare. Stunned. His beard was well-groomed, complimenting the hard lines of his square cut jaw, and his lips were like the icing on the cake…the fullness gave his rugged good looks the perfect touch of sensuality.

He helped me to my feet. “That wasn’t part of the dance, Trace.”

“No shit, Sherlock.” Pinching my lips together, I kicked a tube of old nail polish across the floor. “I’m never going to get this right. I’m so screwed.”

“It ain’t the end of the world. You still got time. Don’t give up, girl.”

“I wish I could be as optimistic as you are.” I sighed. “I’m sorry for being a bitch. There’s a lot of pressure on me and I’m taking it out on you.”

“It’s all good. I’m used to you being bitchy. I’m used to the screaming temper tantrums—when you beat yo’ fists against the floor and your legs start flailing like a fish outta water …” He grinned.

My stomach dropped. “It’s not funny.”

His laughter quickly faded. “My bad.”

An awkward silence filled the room. Twisting a finger around the hem of my blouse, I broke the quiet. “I’ve been working on my temperament with Doctor Friedlander. Do you think I’m getting any better?”

He leaned against the wall, his hands tucked casually into his jean pockets. “You haven’t had any episodes recently.”

“Because you calm me down right before I snap. Every time.”

“So why are wasting stacks on therapy, then? You’ve been seeing a therapist for what? Years? And you were still having panic attacks until…”

“Until you came along,” I completed his sentence. “I don’t want to become so dependent on you, Frank. It’s like, totally unfair to you.”

“Shit, I don’t mind. I ain’t going nowhere, unless you want me to—”

“No!” My heart lurched at the thought of losing him. Shocked by the fury of my reaction, I took a careful step away from him. “You wouldn’t leave me. You’d miss me too much.”

He stared at me for a moment, silent and thoughtful, his brow quirked.

I tensed. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Uh, no reason.” He lifted the brim of his black Los Santos snapback to scratch his head. “I should probably bounce. It’s getting late, and you got class in the morning.”

“Wait.” I passed him his phone and gave him a brief good-bye hug. “Do you think you could give me some guitar lessons after school tomorrow? Music class is kinda kicking my ass. I could use the extra help.”

I was a little bummed about him leaving, but he was right. I needed the rest so I could wake up bright and early tomorrow. I returned a smile. “Bye, Frank.”

“Bye, Trace.” He turned to leave but stopped at the door, his gaze shifted to me. “By the way, you don’t have to lie to get me here. You ain’t gotta send no dramatic texts or nothin’ crazy like that. If you need to see me, whatever the reason, just…call. I’ll be here in a heartbeat.”

A pang struck my heart. I swallowed deep, fumbling for words. Before I managed to find my words, he was gone.

With a heavy sigh, I collapsed on my bed. What was the matter with me? Why were my brain cells starting to fry around Franklin? I had a huge date planned with Chad Dillington, but for some reason, I couldn’t stop thinking about my best friend.

⌘ He would often have cooking dates with you, where you both cook something together and then he will play video games while you sketch something or more specifically him!

⌘ He also learnt cooking a bit from his aunt who was trying to earn his forgiveness and so when he requested her to teach him how to cook, she immediately agreed and also his cooking are quickly catching up, you have to do something to get better!!!

⌘ He also buys you as many art supplies you need, whenever you need, he uses his uncle Billy's card, which is kind of full 80% of the time, because he doesn't remember how much he earns and only uses a bit to buy alcohol....

⌘ Oh! Speaking of his uncle and aunt, they meet you and ended up liking you more then Jimmy in an instant, uncle Billy only stops drinking when you are included in the conversation and he loves you like his daughter and so happy you take Jimmy off their hands...

⌘ One thing you both do as dates is that you both cook a dish where one if guiding the other and the other has to follow all the rules given by their guider to make the dishes and so often you both end up ruining the dish and then finally make it together which tastes heavenly after you both are horribly tired!

⌘ He won't admit it, but he loves when you draw him and how focused you are when you're either cooking or drawing, painting or whatever you like to do..

Sticky Notes (FriendlyPack Fic)

Title: Sticky Notes

Pairing: Stan Wheeler x Jimmy Bending (FriendlyPack)

Summary: Stan and Jimmy had been boyfriends for a while now and Stan thought of a perfect 1st anniversary date for jimmy. He places sticky notes with clues of where he is. With their friends helping Stan with the idea. At the end of the scavenger hunt, Jimmy finds Stan wearing a blue tuxedo with his signature Fannypack standing on the place where they first met.

“Sunflower?”

He asked as he opened his eyes. The bed was empty and cold, missing a certain person. His eyes wondered around the room he was in, and then he stumbled upon a yellow sticky note on the pillow next to him. He picked it up and already recognized the handwriting that it belongs to his love. He smiled and whispered to himself the words;

“Good Morning, Friendly.

There’s breakfast ready for you in the kitchen!

Drink plenty of water!

Love, Fannypack”

He smiled and went towards their kitchen. He sat down and digs in the wonderful food his sunflower made for him, and of course drank plenty of water. After his stomach was full, he then noticed another yellow note sticking on the flower vase in front of him. It reads:

“A water a day keeps the thirst away!

I know you’re confused right now from all

This notes but don’t freak out! I’m at the

Hospital-“

He didn’t even finish reading the note and quickly dressed up and went running out the apartment. He burst through the door scaring some people next to him. He apologized and ran to his car. Arms fiddling to unlock the car door while cursing out such colorful words. His heart beating fast and his mind thinking all the possible bad things that happened to his sunflower. Snapped out of it Jimmy! His fine.

When the engine is on, he quickly drove towards the hospital. Ignoring the red lights and cars that are honking on his fast driving. He could probably be pulled by a police by speeding but that’s none of his concern at the moment. After what felt like an eternity, -when it was only 4 minutes thanks to his driving-, he finally arrived at the hospital. Bursting through the glass door, shocking some patients and nurses. Brenda, the receptionist, was on her place staring at what was happening. Trying her best to not full on laughing at Jimmy’s full on outburst. The man was yelling his sunflower’s name to people asking where he is and running from A to B. Brenda, with her amusement quenched, called the man over. Not even a second later, his already in front of her.

“You bitch! Where’s Stan? You stole him from me did you!? Oh my fucking god! When I found him, I’ll kill you and-“

“Jimmy, chill. Your boyfriend is fine. But he told me to give you this.” She then gave him a yellow sticky note. And it read;

“I’m sorry for scaring you! I didn’t mean to give

You a heart attack! But remember all the times

We were put here and waited for each other?

Fun memories, I say!

I’m at the police station! And no I am not in trouble!

He let out a sigh of relief. “Sorry about my sudden outburst, Brenda.” He said embarrassingly. She rolled her eyes and nodded. Pointing at the door and said, “Whatever, just go get your man or something”. Jimmy’s cheeks turn a slight shade of pink. His still not used to hearing someone pointed out that his in a full on relationship. His not thinking it in a bad way! Don’t get him wrong, his so proud that as amazing and handsome as Stan is his boyfriend. Hell, every time he and Stan went out holding hands, they’re not afraid to show it off.

He shook his head, stopping the voices in his head to write a long ass essay of his life. He put on the ignition and head out to the police station. He turned on the radio to engulf the silence and continue driving. When he finally arrived at the front of the police station, he turned off the ignition and step out the car. The blue haired man walked in the door and saw Lieutenant Ziggy on the counter. The policeman waved him over.

“Hey Jimmy, what brings you here-“

“Ziggy, shut up. I know Stan said something for me so just zip it” He said and slammed his hands on the counter. The policeman sighed and gave him another yellow sticky note with the same handwriting. It said:

“To be honest I have no idea why the next location is the police station.

Maybe because it’s the only thing Ziggy would work for me.

Anyway, I’m at the place where we did the you know what.

The cabbage picking. The parmesan. The not so legal.

Okay! The first house we robbed together!

“You didn’t read this, did you?” Jimmy asked nervously. The incident was so long ago but it’s still a crime. The police man chuckled and said, “Even if I did read it or not, I’m not going to bust your ass. Just go and get your man before I change my mind”. He didn’t twice and went directly out the building. Went inside his car and drove the fuck out of there. The man let out a sigh and focuses on the roadway ahead. He noticed that the city is quite silent today, like nothing bad is happening. No cry for help, no ambulance sounds, and no police sirens heard. It’s weird to have a peaceful day in Los Santos. Not that he mind, just weird.

He saw the house ahead and remembered the quite fun memories he and Stan had. Even though he almost traumatized Stan with him allegedly murdering the man who owns the house. It’s fun. He saw someone on the sidewalk and it seems its Eugene and Edna. He parked in front of them and waved.

“Funny seeing you two here. Let me guess, Stan told you to wait here for me to arrive and give me a piece of note” Jimmy said to the two. “Hell no, we’re here because a man who looked like Stan is dead inside the house” Eugene said with glee. Jimmy’s face turned pale and nervously laughed. Edna quickly punched Eugene, “Ey! Don’t scare the poor boy with your shit!” She then looked at Jimmy who is still at the state of shock and slapped him, waking him up. “His just being his shitty self, Stan’s fine. Here” She gave jimmy the paper. “Just get out of here, I don’t want any witness when I kill this bitch” Eugene quickly ran away with Edna on his tail.

“My first time doing something illegal! The adrenaline was

Something! Remember when I yelled ‘Oh my god’ so many times

When you killed a man? Good times. Oh, and you almost selling me crack?

The friendliest crack dealer in Los Santos! I’m at the place where we almost died!

He shivered at the thought of the memory. The time when they turned into hostages. He turned on the ignition and drove to Polido Bank. He turned on the radio to silence the long drive to the bank. To his surprise, he heard Kiki’s voice in the radio.

“Good Afternoon, you mothertruckers! Kiki Chanel in the house for your daily thirst quenching! Queue the applause..... I SAID QUEUE THE APPLAU- yayyyyyy. Okay, okay, okay. Before you get your daily bad choices of song, here’s a special message from Jackie chan himself! He said and i quote with his voice; Better hurry up before this motherfucker is dead!’ And here we have our special sponsors, Kiki’s KOC-“

He suddenly turned down the radio and pressed hard on the paddle, increasing the acceleration of his car. Moving from left to right, avoiding everything that is on his way. Praying that he won’t get pulled over. After what felt like an eternity with his heart beating fast, he can finally see the bank ahead with Buddha or Jackie chan leaning on the side of the bank. With him are two people with a monkey mask and a bandana covering itself. He pulled over and walked hastily to them.

“Where’s Stan-“ he was cut off with a gun on his forehead. The man who has the gun tsked and shook his head. The other two who is with him chuckled, making Jimmy nervous.

“Remember the time when you said they were boyfriends? And they denied?” The man with the monkey mask said to the bandana. He nodded and replied, “And now look at where we are now. The two supposedly not in a relationship are now lovebirds!” The bandana surprisingly shrieked in delight. Following the monkey and Jackie chan. Removing the gun off Jimmy’s forehead.

“We’re just fucking with you, Velvet aurora!” Jimmy shivered at the name and corrected him with “Friendly”. Jackie Chan nodded and gave him the yellow note his been waiting for. Jimmy said his goodbyes and quickly walked towards his car. But not without hearing one of them say, “Go get that Water man D!”. Jimmy’s cheek reddened and drove off the bank. While driving, he swiftly read the note.

“The time when my life flashes before my eyes! In a bad way, i say! Still grumpy about them not buying my water. Anyway, remember when you threatened me? Yeah I’m there!

He checked his watch and saw it’s almost past 4 O’clock. He took off his sunglasses and started rubbing his forehead. “All of this stress better be worth it, Stan” He whispered to himself, but a small smile visible on his lips. He saw the familiar fence and the gate leading to the place where he ‘threatened’ Stan.

He gets out his car and walked down. He saw someone standing near the water, wearing a rather familiar outfit. A female police outfit and its pink hat.

“Sup, bitch” yep, that’s kiki alright.

“Why are you here? And how the fuck do you know this place?” Jimmy asked the gorgeous woman.

“Well nice to see you too, asshole! Such toxic masculinity. At least someone thinks I’m gorgeous.” Kiki smirked at him. He rolled his eyes and put out his hand, gesturing for something them both already knew.

“You’re no fun. I’m planning on like putting it inside a bottle and throwing it in the water and you sacrificing your life to get it or something” She said and simply shrugged at Jimmy’s shocked face.

“Anyway, out of all the places you, Stan, and I went to. Why this place?” Kiki asked. Jimmy shrugged and looked the other way, avoiding her eyes. “How do i know?”

She scoffed at his response and replied, “Because you’re his boyfriend? I can’t even believe Stan choose you over this bomb ass pussy! Huuuuuuuuuuuuuu” Then started dancing seductively. Jimmy pretended to gag and vomit.

“HOOOWWWW DAAAAAARRREEEE YOUUUUUU- here, I’m done with this toxicity of masculinity! This bomb ass pussy is out!” After she thrown the piece of paper to Jimmy, she sashayed away with her hips going left and right with her middle finger in the air. “Don’t forget to use protection and lots of lube!” She yelled. Jimmy quickly grabbed the paper flowing in the air before it hit the wet ground. He fixed his posture and read it out loud;

Jimmy’s chest felt so warm. The feeling is like when they first met. How such a middle aged man that is so naive and innocent ended up with a guy like him. He felt the tears coming up but quickly hold it. It’s not time yet. He pocketed the paper, along with the others, and went to his car. Jimmy started heading to the place he never though a love story would start.

While his driving, he can see the sunset shining through him. Letting the final ray of sunshine warmth him. Remembering the time when he and Stan went out to eat burgers and watched the sunset together. It may not seem like a date but it is to him. Oh how he wished his brave enough to tell Stan his feelings that time. But that doesn’t matter right now, because they’re together and happy. He’ll get even happier when he finally sees his sunflower.

His nearing at the destination and can see what seems like a curtain blocking the parking lot? Is that legal?

He slowly parked near the destination and get out the car. He looked around, trying to find his love but no luck. He sighed and leaned on the side his car. He took out his cigarette and lighter, and was about to light it when he heard a very familiar voice.

“Didn’t you promised you’ll stop smoking?”

Jimmy’s eyes widen and looked up. His cheeks reddened and mouth opened, letting the cigarette fall out his mouth. There in front of him shows Stan Wheeler, wearing a blue tuxedo with a matching blue fanny pack. Some black shorts and black fancy shoes. His blonde hair was gelled back making him look somewhat fancy. His hands behind him fidgeting a bit and his eyes looking around, avoiding Jimmy’s covered eyes. Perfect timing, the final sunrise set on Stan making him shine. Making him looked like a literal sunflower that is blue all over.

“Uh-uhmm.. h-hi ji-jimmy...” Stan let out a genuine smile. Then suddenly the carpet behind Stan fall revealing such a beautiful sight. It was a beautiful sight when it got caught off by Stan screaming “GOD HELP! THE CARPET HAS DEVOURED MY EXISTENCE!!! HELPPPP!!”.

Jimmy chuckled at his clumsiness and helped him get out the carpet monster. -As that Stan called it-. Stan’s head is finally out, so does the rest of his body, and didn’t realize that Jimmy’s face is so near his. It’s so close that them both can feel each other’s breath. Both men has their cheek blushing. Even after a year dating, these two still get flustered over each other.

Jimmy helped Stan up and looked back the beautiful sight. There was Christmas lights attached above lighting over a fancy table with food and of course water. An inflatable balloon on the background spelling “Happy 1st Anniversary Stimmy by Kiki and friends”.

“So that’s why all of them are both so cryptic and extra stupid” Jimmy said to Stan. He nodded and gestured to the fancy table. They sat down and started talking about times they’re together and being themselves to others. They can hear some locals walking passed them but Kiki threatening them out loud outshine it. With Ziggy and Brenda trying to stop her from killing someone, Eugene and Edna film the whole thing, and other of their friends laughing. It may looked like they’re invading both of their privacy but without those people, none of this would’ve happened.

“I’m so lucky to have them, and also you Jimmy” Stan said.

“Don’t be such a sap!” The water man giggled at his response. “Oh! I almost forgot!” Stan then went under the table and let out a present.

“Wait, I didn’t get you anything!” Jimmy started panicking but Stan beat him to it and told him its fine. Stan gave the gift to Jimmy, who’s still sulking over not giving him a gift. Jimmy slowly opened the wrapped gift and saw... a water bottle?

“Uhm, Stan?”

“Look at the brand!” Stan said with excitement. Jimmy raised his eyebrows and looked down. It said, “Friendly Water!”.

“You and I are now business partners for my water business!” Stan said with glee. “Aren’t I already am with me driving you all over town?” Stan shushed him and told him that it’s beside the point. Jimmy chuckled at his silliness and stared at him with so much love. His so lucky to have such a wonderful and handsome man like Stan.

“I’m so lucky to have you too Jimmy” Jimmy laughed and realized he said it out loud. With the stars and moon shining above them, and the chaos happening around them cause by their friends. Nothing would ever ruin such a beautiful night.

There’s just...there’s just so much I need to know!

Are all the Academy X kids back? DJ? Kidogo? Loa? Wallflower? Blindfold? OMG IS TAG BACK, SHOW ME JULIAN REUNITING WITH HIS BFF, DEAD FOR YEARS AND NOW BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE.

There’s just...imagine, an entire class of mutant teenagers who were all tragically killed and now are resurrected into this new world that’s so different from the one they last saw, like everything’s changed in the blink of an eye. What’s that even LIKE? How do they feel about owing their return and resurrection to one of their own former classmates, who’s now part of this group of five mutants revered on Krakoa with idol-like status as the ones who like...defeated death for the mutant race? How do all the kids who died on M-Day like Hydro, never even having time to know what happened, feel about learning about the Decimation and why they died in the first place? How do the kids who died on the bus like DJ feel, trying to reconnect with their classmates like Julian and Cessily and Santos who have been through SO MUCH since they last saw them, literally lived through wars and the threat of extinction and are so changed now by experiences they can’t ever (hopefully won’t ever) be able to relate to?

Is Jay Guthrie back? What’s it like for Sam and Paige and the rest of their siblings to suddenly have him back? What does Sooraya feel about this? How do she and Jay interact now? How does the every mutant is automatically a citizen of Krakoa thing work....all the Guthrie kids are mutants, but their mom Lucinda isn’t...is she allowed to come and go, according to Krakoa law? There must be exceptions made for some humans to live on Krakoa, surely, given that Corsair is part of one of the Dawn of X line-ups....who makes the distinction and how?

Speaking of the Summers, what’s up with Gabe’s resurrection? How does that work? Does he remember everything, and his past crimes are forgiven on the basis of the amnesty law, so long as he plays nice? Or did Xavier take advantage of being the man who puts all the mutant minds back in their shiny new bodies and conveniently rearrange a few memories regarding why Gabe hates him so much, and now Gabe gets along with everyone just fine?

OMG ARE PETRA AND SWAY BACK AND IF NOT WHY NOT.

What about Kevin Ford aka Wither? Selene was one of the mutant villains granted amnesty when she came to Krakoa, does that mean her former pawns are granted the same resurrection treatment as any other mutant, and if so, how does Kevin feel about being resurrected by Josh....the very person who killed him in the first place?

Oooh, and Clarice....not to mention Jono. What’s it like for some of the more heroic descendants of Clan Akkaba to now be living on the same island as their long distant villainous ancestor, Apocalypse himself?

Speaking of Apocalypse, anyone else catch that bit of gossip from Bar Sinister about how gladly Apocalypse would trade in any of his later Horsemen for his original four....with Hickman having made a big deal about alluding to some long ago war Apocalypse and his original Horsemen waged on Krakoa against some other dimensional foes.....with those Horsemen dying or imprisoning themselves to stop them? Who wants to bet that was to set up a storyline where like, maybe part of Apocalypse’s conditions for working with Xavier and Magneto on all of this was to have his original Horsemen resurrected as well somehow? Like SOMETHING’S going to happen there.

Oooh ooh ooh......what about the fact that ALL OF LOGAN’S 13378427842 dead mutant children are now potentially alive again? CLAN SNIKT? ADRIAN CORBO? WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF JIMMY?

And and and and and they better fucking bring back Chris Bradley and I will literally pledge my firstborn if somebody writes in a scene where Bobby Drake gets to see his little buddy alive and well again, sans Legacy Virus. OMG are Emplate, the M twins and Monet all supposed to play happy family in a shared environment, holy shit could you imagine the epic staredowns everytime Marius and Monet run into each other in like Krakoa’s town square or the market or something and Jubilee just stage whispers “Awkwaaaaard.”

Holy shit, how are Ev and Angelo going to react to coming back to life and discovering that Jubes is now a MOM???

What about depowered mutants we haven’t seen get their powers back yet, are they all repowered now thanks to Hope? Is Dallas Gibson on Krakoa, shadow powers intact? What about Shola and Freakshow and Wicked, aka the only interesting characters Claremont has invented in 30 years, no, Lifeguard and Slipstream DO NOT COUNT.

Everyone right now is coming up with their own headcanons as to what happened (Stan’s dead, Stan’s NOT dead he’s just doing at X place doing Y thing, etc.) Some are happy, some are sad, other are bittersweet. Which is totally fine bc this IS a fictional character after all asgfhd

I chalk it up to people coping with things differently.

Take yours for example, Anon! :) To you; Stan is probably fine, he’s just on a very long and well-deserved summer vacation away from Los Santos, and he knows Jimmy is much too busy to bring him along. They probably don’t correspond much bc Stan is having such a great time he forgets to check his phone or is in a place where he doesn’t get much reception. Jimmy understands, and so he just waits for whenever Stan can reply back. Jimmy misses Stan immensely, but knows his boyfriend deserves some time off and to enjoy himself.

“Friday Night With Marlon Moraes” The UFC in Utica Preview

A casual perusal of the Fight Night in Utica, reveals a nothing special lower level card to the average eye at least. It's very light on star power on a not normal UFC night from a place nobody probably equates MMA with (sorry Utica!) without the usual big hook and sell to it. After watching a PPV with some big names then the first MMA card in Chile and then the biggest free WW fight in quite some time in Till/Wonderboy, it might be hard for some folks to then turn around and get giddy over a show in Utica on a Friday night. Making matters worse? Its headlined by bantamweight which is still one of those weight classes struggling to find some acceptance. Having said all of that? I really like this card. It's not a great show by any stretch of the imagination but the main event is sublime, there's a few debuts I'm excited about on the card and there are some damn good action fights on it. It's not going to compete with UFC 225 for card of the year or anything but I believe it's well worth checking out on a Friday Night. Maybe you'll be able to say you saw the next bantamweight champion debut live.

Too High Up- Jake Ellenberger vs Ben Saunders

I feel bad for kicking two guys when they're down, I really do. Ben Saunders and Jake Ellenberger probably shouldn't be fighting anymore but this is MMA and you have to basically go out feet first. The winner of this fight will probably wind up getting fed to another dude way higher up in the food chain than them.The loser probably fights Michael Venom Page in Bellator. Both guys are on losing streaks with Ellenberger in particular rocking a nasty 3 wins in his last 10 fights. All of this paints the picture of a really sad fight on the main card because both Saunders and Ellenberger are still "names".

Too Low- Nik Lentz vs David Teymur

So why is this here on the prelims? Nik Lentz since moving up to 155 lbs is a cool 3-1 with wins over Will Brooks and Danny Castillo. David Teymur is 4-0 in the UFC with wins over Drakkar Klose and Lando Vannata plus he's normally good for either a snazzy finish or an exciting fight. Lentz isn't the same dude who would lay and pray his way to wins, dude's improved as a striker, has tremendous grappling chops and still brings pacing and cardio to all his fights. Color me bummed this one is buried on the prelims package since it's not even the prelim headliner (Sijara Eubanks vs Lauren Murphy is in that spot).

Keeping An Eye On But Not Really:

The UFC Win Check Test The records of fighters who have 4 or more UFC fights (or three full calendar years in the organization) but 0 wins against people still in the UFC: Nik Lentz. I would've been SURE that Gleison Tibau would be here but Tibau has two insanely impressive in hindsight wins over Francisco Trinaldo and RDA. Dude was really good once.

Twelve Precarious Ponderings

1- Every fight is its own story and journey through the careers of two athletes. I'd be remiss if I didn't point out how friggin' insane the "How we got here" for both of these guys is. Marlon Moraes was 7-4 going into a fight with Miguel Torres on the first WSOF show, he was there to lose but apparently didn't get the memo. After beating Miguel Torres, Moraes was put up against WSOF's prized signing Tyson Nam. He finished Nam who was coming off an upset over Dudu Dantas which in turn made Moraes a bit of a fan favorite as this super underdog beating all of the hyped dudes. Moraes is now 20-5 which means that since his time as "the opponent" vs Torres until his UFC debut, he went undefeated and racked up 11 wins all over relatively quality competition. It's easy to accuse a dude on a run like his of can crushing but Sheymon Moraes, Josh Hill, Carson Beebe and Josenaldo Silva are quality regional fighters (Moraes has the ability to be a lot more). In the UFC, Moraes' lone loss is a "What can ya do?" split decision vs Rafa Assuncao who basically neutralized him as he tends to do. Since then Moraes decisioned John Dodson in a close scrappy fight and became the only man to finish Aljamain Sterling when he ruined his life with a step in knee. Moraes has proven his worth and his reward is his first ever UFC main event less than a year into his run with the organization.

The road was equally weird for Jimmie Rivera. Rivera's pre-UFC career is littered with fighters you'd know (Jared Papazian, Brian Kelleher, Willie Gates, Carson Beebe) in big time organizations (Bellator, WSOF, ROC and CFFC) but he never really stuck or found a home. Bellator used him frequently but for some reason, never featured him as a name. Perhaps that's because he was a guy who went to the decision more often than secured a dominant statement win. Maybe Rivera is just difficult to negotiate or deal with (more on that later) or perhaps he was just overlooked. He tried out for TUF and fought up a weight class in deference to his friend Louis Gaudinot. That decision proved to be the wrong one as Rivera drew Dennis Bermudez and lost by TKO in the try outs. Rivera eventually did make it to the UFC----as a short notice replacement on an international fight card. Since that point, RIvera has gone 5-0 with wins over Thomas Almeida, Pedro Munhoz and Urijah Faber. Jimmie Rivera has proven his worth in the UFC and his reward after being "the opponent" for what seems like his entire UFC run is his first ever main event spot in Utica.

There's a pride in this, I suppose. We see guys debut, get hyped and get main events far earlier in their careers than Rivera. We've seen guys be "the favorite" long after they've proven they're not the guy for the job while guys like Moraes have to just keep winning. For two guys who had to really earn it, I'm glad they're in a main event spot no matter if it's a Friday UFC event or a Fox spotlight. These guys earned it and in a sport where earn and deserve is more about timing and opinion, it's nice to have two definitive cases of "earning it" colliding at the same time.

2- I'd ALSO be remiss I suppose if I didn't point out how long it's taken this fight to come together. Both guys claim they were supposed to fight on the regional circuit but those sorts of "You might fight X" type rumors are what they are. What we DO know is that Moraes was offered the opportunity to fight Rivera in December as a fill in for Dom Cruz. Moraes said he couldn't make weight and depending on who you ask, he either needed to fight at 145 or higher to fight Rivera. The fight fell apart and THEN it was rebooked for UFC in Orlando. According to Moraes at least. Rivera has said that he wasn't offered a contract or wouldn't sign it or etc etc etc. Whatever the case may be or may not be, we've got it now. The whole back and forth created legitimate realistic tension. Sometimes it's nice to have dudes who dislike one another a little bit.

3- Jimmie Rivera is currently the slight betting favorite and while that might seem controversial for some, I think it's insanely realistic that he can take a decision. Marlon Moraes' weakness has been guys who can counter strike with him, force him to think and react more than he wants to and challenge him with either a size or a speed advantage. Rivera can fight going forward and backwards, has all sorts of versatility to his game and carries consistent pop in his hands. He's not a fight finisher by any stretch but we've seen him drop dudes like Thomas Almeida and Iuri Alcantara. He's also far more likely to be active during the lulls where Moraes seems to just be trying to patiently stalk a dude down for power shots. Conversely Moraes winning this fight by KO is pretty possible as well given that Rivera loves to exchange, often times abandons defense and security for swangin' n bangin' PLUS Moraes really does hit fucking hard.

4- Is the main event a #1 contender fight? The winner will probably have a hell of a case for the shot, no? The alternatives are Raphael Assuncao who I'd bet the UFC would rather cut than put in a title shot if they were given only those options (although Rapha vs TJ/Cody winner sounds like a fantastic way to kick off your ESPN run), Dom Cruz or John Lineker. Lineker is a guy who people assume is a draw but never really generates any numbers worthwhile of backing that up. Both Lineker headliners at BW did pretty poorly which, I suppose, helps create the mythos that BWs can't draw viewers. I also can't imagine an audience being that giddy for Lineker vs TJ 2 if Dillashaw wins again. You could make the argument that Dom Cruz has a case over both guys but if Garbrandt wins then whats the point? We've been there and Cruz was soundly handled by Cody. Cruz vs Dillashaw 2 might be a lot more intriguing a second time around for some folks? Still I couldn't count on Cruz to make it to fight night again since 2016 seemed like an anomaly across the board for him health wise. Perhaps the ultimate question mark is Rob Font who seems to be finally getting his act together en route to a clash with Raphael Assuncao in July.

5- So just WHO necessarily is it that the UFC is attempting to hype up and develop in the famed "special showcase third fight" slot? Will Harris is 34 years old and he's already been in the UFC for close to six years now on and off. Harris is coming off two straight losses and while he deserves credit for stepping up vs Fabricio Werdum on like thirty minutes notice, his performance vs Mark Godbeer was hilariously heavyweight. Is the focus on Daniel Spitz? Spitz is a newbie HW who has a 1-1 record in the UFC with a win over Anthony Hamilton and a loss to Daniel Spitz. Was this just a case of wanting a big guy in a key spot because you've got a bantamweight and a lightweight up top?

6- Sijara Eubanks attempting to make the cut to 125 lbs again seems....dicey. I suppose conversely the same could be said for Lauren Murphy as well so let's just hope everybody makes weight healthily.

7- It took me 7 spots to talk about Gregor Gillespie and at first it kind of bothered me that I had forgotten about. In hindsight, I guess I just don't know what would make him worth remembering to begin with. As a fighter Gillespie is fantastic and while he's slowly creeping out of his athletic prime (he turned 31 in March), he's pretty much dominated everyone he's faced. The only thing a detractor could cling to would be a short brief moment where he was hurt in a firefight vs Jason Gonzalez, a fight he ultimately won in the second round. He's a tremendous wrestler with serious control on the ground plus his hands are really powerful. I just don't know what else there is to really comment on about him. Seems like a nice enough guy, am I right? He fights in an insane division where thus far he's wiped out everybody he's faced----but it's likehe's the world's biggest afterthought. He's really good and really forgettable at the same time. I hope this fight vs Vinc Pichel showcases more of why we SHOULD be excited about Gillespie's prospects. Pichel is one of those guys who exists just below the level of good but way above the level of opposition Gillespie has faced thus far. I'd like a bigger step up for Gregor but in a showcase fight with a moderate step up in competition, you could do a lot worse.

8- If you pay your $9.99 for UFC Fight Pass, your reward for such is the debut of two fascinating prospects who figure to be players in the lighter weight classes. We can begin with Nate Wood who is the easier of the two to explain. Think of everything you liked about Brad Pickett and then make him slightly less chinny and slightly more athletic. The wrestling improvements (or lack thereof) will determine his upside his ultimately. I think he has a more fundamental game than Tom Duquesnoy but I feel more confident on Duquesnoy turning into a bigger deal. On the same card you have the long overdue debut of Jose "Shorty" Torres, a tremendous prospect who has shades of everybody from Chris Weidman to Kelvin Gastelum in his game. He has tremendous pop in his hands, great cardio, a stalking power style on the feet and the ability to absolutely mix it up on the ground as well. I don't know if Torres will be as good as a lot of us think he can be but he's the most excited I've been about a lighter weight fighters debut since probably the aforementioned Duquesnoy last year. Shorty is a really good fighter who I think can comfortably be a force at either 125 lbs or 135 lbs. Both guys get tough matches as Nate Wood gets Johnny Eduardo and Jarrod Brooks welcomes Jose Torres to the UFC.

9- If Sam Alvey vs Gian Villante leaves the first round, I think you're within your right to spend the next 10-20 minutes doing something more important.

10- Daniel Teymur with a full TC is going to give Julio Arce more problems than people imagine. I think that speaks more to the qualities Teymur has than it does about Julio Arce.

11- We're six fights into Belal Muhammad's UFC career and I have zero idea what kind of fighter he really is at this point. I know he's good (wins over Randy Brown, Jordan Mein, Tim Means proves you're quality) but I have no idea if he's anything more than a placeholder in an aging 170 lb division. The Niko Price fight would've told us a lot about him but now he's facing the pretty good Chance Recountre; a regional fighter who would've probably found his way onto the DWTCS eventually.

12- Is Demond Green contractually obligated to just fight massive wrestlers in the UFC? Four fights in he's had Josh Emmett, Rustam Khabilov, the oversized Michel Prezares who was basically fighting at MW vs him and now Gleison Tibau.

Under Pressure

1- Jake Ellenberger

We might as well start here. Ellenberger is no longer the dude who flirted with title contention on multiple opportunities. Those days are long and gone. What remains? Well....it depends. We can start with the cynical view; the raw numbers aren't pretty. Ellenberger is coming up on close to 50 pro fights before the age of 35 in the USADA Era where the dramatic "he's turning back the clock!" runs aren't going to happen. Since the start of 2014, he's just 2-6 with only one decision loss. He's taken damage in his losses and of his two wins, he's Matt Brown changing his mind again away from having 0 current UFC wins. He's chinny, spotty with his offense and it's fair to wonder if he's just been figured out by better fighters who have evolved quicker than he has. An optimistic POV? Ellenberger was far too good for far too long to fall apart this quickly. The quality of competition hasn't helped either given his losses are to genuinely top tier dudes like Rory Mac, Robbie Lawler, Jorge Masvidal and Wonderboy. Even in the losses, he had some moments of life to make you believe that something STILL is in there. In his most recent fight vs Mike Perry, it sure felt like the "old" Ellenberger was back----right before Perry exploded his face with an elbow. He had glimpses vs Masvidal and I felt like he did damn good vs Tarec Saffiedine as well. What if this is just a really bad ugly sort of slide that'll eventually even itself out? Maybe against weaker competition even? Ben Saunders is really the last in the line for Ellenberger. It's win or go home.

2-Jimmie Rivera

Jimmie Rivera's 5-0 run has been fantastic during his time in the UFC----but outside of the cage? It hasn't been as smooth sailing. We detailed the Moraes fight scuffle but beyond that, Rivera sort of got put in an awkward spot as his wife and Aljamain Sterling had a back and forth on twitter that was pretty cringy. Beyond that Rivera has been known to turn down fights in the past and we know that puts a spotlight on a dude. He's not the guy the UFC "wants" so to speak as much as he's the one they got. Rivera has his main event in what is essentially home turf against an opponent with a ton of buzz. You gotta step up and show out.

3- Sijara Eubanks

The Eubanks we saw on TUF was a hell of a lot better than the Eubanks from Invicta. Even with that said, she got yanked from the event the day before fighting for the title due to an awful weight cut. She might've had enough to beat Nicco Montano but alas and alack, it's back to the drawing board. Lauren Murphy is a really tough go of it in your UFC debut but if the TUF Eubanks shows up? Good chance she pulls this off.

4- Jose "Shorty" Torres

It's short notice and that normally is the caveat needed. This is a different situation though. It's not just some prospect but arguably MMA's best unsigned prospect. We're talking about a guy in Jose Torres who is too good to not have these sorts of expectations put on him. He has the ability to be a genuine lightning bolt in a struggling 125 lb weight class or a blossoming 135 lb weight class. It's a lot of pressure to put on somebody making a short notice debut but again, Torres is a different kind of fighter and a different kind of prospect.

5- Vinc Pichel

He is the opponent. Gregor Gillespie is the guy that everybody is excited about which leaves Pichel in the spot of "don't lose too badly!" which is always a bad place to be. Pichel is the sort of fighter who presents enough stylistic questions for Gillespie that even if Gregor is better, you're still looking at a guy who has the ability to give Gillespie some problems. The pressure is on Pichel to not get blown out here and test Gillespie.
