“Shut up…we’re by no means setting a precedent.” He was quiet…and not merely because he was used to obeying that voice implicitly. He was being peeled, slowly, like a delicate fruit, in time to some far off pagan rhythm and he found his logical mind was swathed in a white mist of sensual well-being. Gentle hands spread warm oil slowly, in ever-widening circles over his chest. Tantalizingly, teasing fingers ran over each nipple, flicking the tip lightly. A slow, deliberate tongue reached out to each erect button. He shivered, then squirmed; surprising himself. A sleek, well-oiled torso slid over his chest down to his navel. Tiny shivers accompanied the soft nips at his abdomen. Warm oil was dribbled over lower areas; then a massaging finger made him glisten. Even his thighs were being massaged…the pressure was…delicious. Well-skilled hands made long, swooping strokes from his knee up the inside of his leg to the upper thighs. Now, he could not prevent this, any more than he could stop a solar eclipse… even if he’d really desired to. It had been building all these years… no one set of circumstances was the cause… now, it seemed it had been inevitable from the outset.

He felt a tightening as he contracted a little when pubic hair was brushed slightly. The weight on his legs and the sensuous stretching of the gliding above him made his pulse race. A strong pair of hands turned him onto his stomach. A river of heated oil etched a blazing trail down his spine; light, feathery fingers sent the trail into the very core of his being. His buttocks were being massaged…slowly at first; then the tempo gradually increased, until two hands were counter-rotating…each squeezing alternately. Then, abruptly, it stopped. “No!!..Do not stop!” he hissed.

The other smiled and then ran expert hands once more over the surface and then between the legs, spreading them effortlessly. Careful palms cradled a very sensitive area that had just been exposed. Then the area was being stroked as a tongue flicked. Swiftly, he was on his back again and a blond head and darting tongue were busy. His eyes were tight shut, tears squeezing from the corners. A hand began to pump, as if to milk. He felt he’d go mad! He was being oiled again, his groin massaged, then gently stroked. A flush had crept from the base of his skull to his groin. He yearned, he ached; wished he never were. Weight was upon him and his legs invaded. A shock wave swept through him for a second, only to be replaced by pleasure; as an easy pressure gyrated smoothly, exquisitely within him. ….Vibration..teasingly delicious vibration. How uniquely wonderful…. the feeling at the base..there.. A circle of thumb and forefinger was working, too,...pulling slowly up and squeezing. The rhythm increasing, the grip tightening. A stray finger, circling the tip, pressed. Fire! fire; lips on lips… depths.. spirals.. colours, tensing.. reaching..climbing..flying..soaring.. darkness that is light.. the explosion.. the NOVA. Tomorrow.. tomorrow will tell…Sleep. “Sleep.””

hii this is really random but i'm writting a paper on star trek fanfiction from the 60s/70s and i was wondering if there were any fics youd recommend? are there any like iconic, keystone fics that are really significant to the fandom? (i'm having a bit of trouble sourcing pre-internet fics)

Hi! I'll try to help the best I can but I am by no means an expert- in fact, many people who end up seeing this may have better/more information so I'll extend it to any of them to answer as well :)

Here is page 1 and page 2 of what might be the first known k/s fanfic published in Grup fanzine (1974). Grup is credited as being the first Star Trek fanzine with adult content. This fic, A Fragment Out of Time by Diane Marchant was vague enough that it had to be clarified as k/s in a later edition, but the author did do so.

Spockanalia is always a good source for early fandom. It is the earliest and best preserved example of fanzine content (beginning in 1967 before the second season had even aired). I'd definitely say that makes it influential! So much more can be found on the internet archive and on fanlore. Copies of Spockanalia found their ways into the hands of many people involved in the show, including Roddenberry himself.

Gayle F is a prolific fanzine artist (one of my favorites) for k/s and is also influential to k/s writing. She was behind the Cosmic Fuck Series (yes really lol) which begins with Desert Heat (1976) in which Spock prematurely enters his second Pon Farr with only Jim available to him. This is the first mention (that I know of) of Spock's "double ridges" which are still a fanon element of his anatomy today (fanlore link here).

Alexis Fegan Black is another name to know, but is actually the pen name for author Della Van Hise. She did a lot of her work in the 80s and beyond, so I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but I think she's very influential. You may know about her licensed trek novel Killing Time (1982) because the first edition was recalled for being way too gay (changes between the two versions are best documented here imo).

Jenna Sinclair was very influential but again, a lot of her works came a little later than what you're looking for (note: ao3 does NOT have the correct dates, you'll need to find those separately).

Sky drama and Peacock “Lockerbie”.

It's not the one original series "Lockerbie," about the 1988 flight disaster. Sky and Peacock began filming in Scotland in February and BBC, Netflix and MGM started programming in March.

The cast members in Lockerbie Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man, The Staircase) join Catherine McCormack (Slow Horses, Temple, Lucan) to play Jane Swire opposite Firth’s Dr Jim Swire.

Known as the Lockerbie bombing and the Lockerbie air disaster in the UK, it was described by Scotland's Lord Advocate as the UK's largest criminal inquiry led by the smallest police force in Britain, Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.

The five-part series, featuring Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth, is based on the tragic Lockerbie terror attack on 21st December 1988 when Pan Am flight 103 from London to New York exploded over the Dumfries and Galloway town, killing all 259 on board and 11 residents.

Colin Firth, will play Dr Jim Swire, a doctor who lost his daughter, Flora, in the 1988 tragedy. Writers also took inspiration from Jim's book, The Lockerbie Bombing: A Father's Search for Justice.

In the wake of the disaster, Dr Jim Swire (Firth), is nominated spokesperson for the UK victims’ families, who have united to demand truth and justice. Travelling across continents and political divides, Jim embarks on a relentless journey that not only jeopardises his stability, family and life, but completely overturns his trust in the justice system. As the truth shifts under Jim’s feet, his view of the world is left forever sullied.

Firth was seen on the set of the new drama in Linlithgow, which will close several roads in the east end and city centre during the filming. Colin was spotted in character and has taken on the role of Jim, 88, the father of one of the 270 victims of the 21st December 1988 Lockerbie bombing.

At the back of Colin's briefcase was a drawing of Jim's daughter, Flora Swire, who was on her way to the US to spend Christmas with her boyfriend when Libyan terrorists blew up the plane.

The series is based on the book The Lockerbie Bombing: A Father’s Search for Justice by Jim Swire and Peter Biddulph – as well as other sources.

Lockerbie bombing, The new drama, Flight 103: Film crew in Linlithgow to work on, have been spotted in Glasgow as filming begins in the city. Road closures are in place as filming kick starts.

A film crew is currently filming in Linlithgow working on a new TV series based on the Lockerbie disaster.

Linlithgow is situated between Edinburgh and Glasgow, to the south of the Firth of Forth and on the edge of Linlithgow Loch. Linlithgow Palace, Stewart residence, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, and rest stop between Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle.

It had been noticed for its similarity to the original Pan Am Flight 103 which exploded over the town of Dumfries and Galloway, 40 minutes into its flight from London to New York.

Scottish playwright David Harrower (Blackbird, Knives in Hens) is the lead writer. Maryam Hamidi (Vigil) is guest writer on an episode. Additional writing comes from Jim, Kirsten and Naomi Sheridan.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night promised to appoint a special prosecutor to look into the Biden family only hours after his arraignment on 37 federal felony charges in Florida.

Trump’s vow prompted cheers and chants of “lock him up!” from the audience. The idea followed Trump’s own proclamation that he was facing “political persecution like something out of a fascist or communist nation.”

The day would “go down in infamy,” he said, adding that on Election Day 2024, “justice will be done.”

Trump also hinted at what his defense might look like, claiming that photos included in the indictment — which show boxes stored in a bathroom and on a stage — were “staged,” and saying some of the boxes held memorabilia, not documents. Trump’s lawyers reviewed his speech, a person familiar with the matter said.

The goal of today was to “lay down a marker of how he wants to frame the entire case,” said Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump.

Trump and his team of advisers crafted the day of his arraignment to work to his political benefit, with remarks to allies and friends at his club, a fundraiser for this campaign, and a surprise stop at a famous Miami restaurant packed with supporters. And Trump’s speech had hallmarks of a MAGA rally, with declarations to “Save America” and go after political enemies, including President Joe Biden.

“What did the other candidates do today? We know where Trump was. He was going to Cafe Versailles, giving a speech here tonight, and there was no other oxygen for other candidates,” Cheung said.

The former president opened his remarks with familiar attacks on Biden and the Justice Department while maintaining that he did nothing wrong in stashing boxes containing classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate, after leaving the White House at the end of his term.

Tuesday’s charges were nothing more than “political prosecution,” he told the crowd of his die-hard fans and allies who traveled to Bedminster for the last-minute invitation to hear him speak.

There was MyPillow CEO and election conspiracist Mike Lindell; Bernie Kerik, the former NYPD commissioner who was pardoned by Trump; conservative radio host and former White House official Sebastian Gorka; and Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist and former senior administration official. Dozens of Vietnamese American supporters of Trump wore matching red dresses with “Save America” emblazoned across the front, and they posed for photos in front of the clubhouse at his New Jersey golf club.

Mixed in were Trump donors who had already planned to attend a fundraiser at the club, along with members of Mar-a-Lago in Florida and personal friends of Trump who came to show their support, like Robert Jeffress from the First Baptist Dallas megachurch. Some in attendance had political aspirations of their own, like Cleveland businessman Bernie Moreno, who is running for Senate and whose son-in-law Max Miller worked in the Trump administration and now serves as a U.S. congressman from Ohio, as well as Jim Marchant of Nevada, an election denier who is running for Senate after a failed bid for Secretary of State. Ed Cox, the current chair of the New York GOP and son-in-law of President Richard Nixon, was also spotted at the event.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) skipped a key Senate vote Tuesday to travel to Bedminster in support of Trump, although the day before he had expressed concerns about whether he would be able to do so.

Jeffress said he had been texting with Trump about the indictment news.

“I just have told him I’m praying for him, which I am, so I wanted to show him support,” he said. “Millions of people are praying for him, and this is not going to defeat him. This is going to make him stronger. I think these are serious charges, they are not frivolous. I think for the investigation and prosecution to have any merit it’s going to have all taint of election interference removed from it. I think the best thing Joe Biden could do is suspend the prosecution until after the election.”

Tuesday’s arraignment was Trump’s second since April, after he was charged with 34 state felonies in New York over his alleged role in a scheme to cover up allegations of extramarital affairs ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

The former president gave a similar speech following his previous arraignment, during which he assailed those involved in the case, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who brought the case, and acting Justice Juan Merchan, who presided over the proceeding.

The current GOP front-runner is also facing two other ongoing criminal probes into his role in 2020 election interference, at least one of which could result in charges this summer.

The April indictment did not shake Trump’s standing in the polls, and a recent CBS News poll shows him holding a nearly 40-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, his closest competitor in the race.

Antonio Rufa, a Trump supporter who came to see Trump’s remarks, said the indictment would only help the former president politically.

“They’re making [Trump] a martyr,” Rufa said. “Just look at the polls.”

Andrew Giuliani, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s son, who played golf with Trump the day after he learned of his indictment, said the ex-president seemed “unfazed.”

“I think he’s been no doubt frustrated with the way he’s been treated,” Giuliani said. “I would say more than ever he’s focused on the mission and what the next 17 months are going to take.”

Ahead of Trump’s speech, Bedminster members wandered in from rounds of golf and dinner at the club. Members had been invited to come see Trump’s remarks.

After he wrapped, half of the crowd wandered inside where the former president planned to hold a “candlelight dinner,” photo opportunity and meet-and-greet with some of his top donors at the first major fundraiser of his campaign.

Can the Dems hang on to it?

The conventional wisdom among the conventional media is that Democrats will have a tough time maintaining their slim Senate majority in the 2024 election. After all, it is reasoned, they'll have to defend 23 seats, more than twice as many as the Republicans' 11 seats. But if you look at individual state races, it turns out the Dems may have considerably more than a fighting chance.

In Pennsylvania, for example, incumbent Democratic senator Bob Casey could go up against Doug Mastriano, the loud-mouthed right-wing nut job who got crushed by Josh Shapiro in last year's gubernatorial election. Or he might face David McCormick, the hedge fund guy who lost out to Mastriano in the Republican primary and is unpopular with the MAGAs. Either opponent gives Casey good odds of being reelected.

Over in Arizona, congressman Ruben Gallego is running to unseat the universally disliked Senator Kyrsten Sinema. His most probable challenger is election-denying grifter Kari Lake, who also lost her bid to become state governor in the last cycle. Facing a MAGA extremist that voters have already rejected surely makes Gallego a favorite for keeping the seat in Democratic hands.

In Ohio, Senator Sherrod Brown, widely admired despite it being a red state, could face Cleveland car dealer Bernie Moreno, a man who (and this is how crazy he is) has called for reparations for Northern families that fought in the Civil War.

GOPers are desperately hoping to pick up Montana, where Democratic senator John Tester will be up against either Rep. Matt Rosendale, who Tester defeated once before, or Rep. Ryan Zinke, Trump's former Secretary of the Interior, who was forced to resign in 2018 due to serious ethics violations. Either one should be easy pickings for the popular Tester.

Nevada's current senator Jackie Rosen will find herself going against Republican assemblyman Jim Marchant, another deranged Trumpian election denier, who ran unsuccessfully first for Congress in 2020 and then for secretary of state in 2022. Says Rosen, “He is, I believe, a three-time loser. A MAGA election denier. And so, he’s going to have his challenges.”

The most worrisome state might be West Virginia, where incumbent senator Joe Manchin has not announced whether he's running for reelection. Indeed, he might have to face popular GOP governor Jim Justice. However, Manchin would have an easier time of it if MAGA congressman Alex Mooney won the Republican primary.

Given these likely 2024 matchups, it certainly seems the Democrats' hold on the Senate may not be nearly as tenuous as the media would have you believe.
