2. Gender variance isn't something entirely alien to Dream of the Red Chamber, with Hong Lu's second cousin Shi Xiangyun once wearing his clothes and fooling Grandmother Jia into thinking she was a man

3. In-game, Hong Lu has expressed many experiences common to pre-transition trans people, like being uncomfortable in the clothes he's made to wear (early canto VI), going through life with a detached nihilism symptomatic of depression, being passively suicidal (timekilling time, Canto VII), and casually bringing up traumatic experiences like they're totally normal to him.
