If his anxiety had been a bit higher, Ruairi imagined all of the hustle and bustle of the Pride celebration would have made him want to hide in the nearest corner for the rest of his natural life simply to get a reprieve. Thankfully, he was enjoying himself— any anxiety he might’ve felt was soothed by the presence of a great many friends he’d managed to run into throughout the day and he imagined ( or at least hoped ) that his streak of good luck would continue. It seemed keen on doing just that as Ruairi caught sight of Jasper— a fondness settling warmly in his chest as he approached them, making a point to step into their field of vision and raise his hand in a cheerful wave rather than stepping up behind them or touching them without permission. He paused, distracted for a long moment by their eye makeup and the delightfully soft shade of their eyes in the afternoon light. Ruairi cleared his throat and smiled, “You’re a sight for sore eyes! Are you busy?” He asked, glancing around in an attempt to gauge whether or not he’d be stealing Jasper away from someone if he tried to get their attention. “I was thinkin’ if you weren’t we could take a break together? If you want to, obviously, I don’t want you to feel obligated.” Christ, why was he so flustered? It wasn’t as if Jasper was going to laugh in his face for even asking and Ruairi forced himself to relax as he waited for the librarian to respond.
