i keep starting posts then discarding them about how i think Jack's not actually mad at Joke, he's mad at himself, but not knowing how to write about it and put my thoughts into shape but i'm gonna try, again.
like the reason Jack can justify working with Save and Hope, with forgiving everyone but Joke, is because it's not Joke he's mad at, not completely. he's projecting. he's taking out his anger and frustration at himself for not seeing what was going on, not being able to be there for Toi Ting, not knowing how to prevent any of this, on Joke.
he loves Joke. but Joke is also the closest person to him, and with Joke having any kind of culpability, that's an opening to channel all of his hurt and helplessness and frustration through. he's putting it all on Joke, then pushing Joke away, because then he can also push away his own guilt and all the things he can't deal with right now in order to deal with the problems immediately in front of him.
is it shitty? yeah. but it's also understandable. it's how people react when faced with extreme emotional distress, extreme situations, tragedy. would he be better off with Joke there to help him through what he's going through, help him deal with Boss, etc, than he is without him? absolutely yes, but he's not thinking that far, clearly. he's thinking in the moment, and in the moment, if he puts all the blame on Joke then he can stop himself from wallowing in the truth and he can continue to function.
like. i'm not justifying it. and i think he should have listened to Joke, should have been willing to be forgiving, should have been supportive instead of angry and cruel. but i get it.
Jack isn't equipped to deal with what he's going through any better than the rest of them are to deal with any of this shit. his reaction is just bigger and worse right now. it IS episode 11 after all.
#yeah we're gonna go with this version of the post#i'm too tired to delete all this and try to start again again again#so here you go i guess just have my brain thoughts#jack needs therapy they all need therapy#jack and joker

it's the way he absolutely scoops him up like he's a lil baby, like at first it looks like Joong's gonna fireman carry Khao like he's been getting lessons from Tay and Newwie or something, but then he's just holding him like he's a little kid and it goes with that whole thing about how drunk adults are essentially overtired toddlers and you can tell that this is not the first time Fadel has had to cart Bison off as full grown adults
Listen, Fadel has earned his Tired Big Brother stripes.
(the way Joong just scoops Khao up is so fucking funny to me, I don't know why)

been cycling my thoughts on the finale and the whole of Peaceful Property for a few days now, and the whole question/discussion about how queer (or not) the show is.
one of the main things i keep coming back to in my reflections, is this quote from Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater and the relationship between the main set of characters in The Raven Cycle, because it makes me think of our ghost hunting gang:
You can be just friends with people, you know," Orla said. "I think it's crazy how you're in love with all those raven boys." Orla wasn't wrong, of course. But what she didn't realize about Blue and her boys was that they were all in love with one another. She was no less obsessed with them than they were with her, or one another, analyzing every conversation and gesture, drawing out every joke into a longer and longer running gag, spending each moment either with one another or thinking about when next they would be with one another. Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn't all-encompassing, that wasn't blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she'd had this kind, she didn't want the other.
as much as i would have loved Peach and Home to smooch, i also am a huge fan of people being platonically in love with their friends. we were discussing the show after finishing the finale the other night, and our friend A commented to @poetry-protest-pornography that people over the years could have easily taken her friendship with me for being romantic even tho it never has been and i chimed in that it's because A and i have always been platonically in love with each other. we've been friends for around 20 years now and close for most of it; we hold hands, she sits in my lap, we snuggle, i pick her up and swing her in circles, we hug often, we touch each other constantly when we rarely get to see each other. besides her, i'm platonically in love with a bunch of my other friends as well; the group that actually includes the friend who got me to read The Raven Cycle, in particular, are all low key obsessed with each other and we have been for like the last 15 years. it's beautiful, and special, and deep, and completely non-romantic. and it's nice to see that kind of relationship being shown in media regardless of the gender of the characters involved.
what a good show. what a fun show. more platonic love stories please. more found families. more of all of this. more of all the different kinds of love.
#i'm relistening to Call Down The Hawk right now so the Raven Cycle has been extra on my mind lately more so than it usually always is#but this quote in particular has always stuck with me and always will#because it does describe so many of my friendships so well#crossing the Raven Cycle over with Thai BL wasn't on my bingo card for this show but honestly it's pretty queer too so i'm not surprised#peaceful property

If peaceful property had ended with a het couple I would get the hate but them leaving it open like that is so much more inclusive of the whole queer spectrum. I wonder if they hadn't used an established cp or the show was made by a different company would it get the same negative reactions
Yeah, I think if it had ended with a het couple, we would be having a different conversation because that would actually qualify as queerbaiting. In my opinion, if GMMTV hadn’t cast a CP in this, no one would have watched it because no one ever watches their het stuff—at least not on Tumblr. I think there were maybe 10 of us watching Summer Night and that had a gay side couple. So for people to finally turn on one of GMMTV’s non-BLs and then complain that it isn’t a BL is wild. They watched because they like TayNew and then found something to get mad at the same way they do with all GMMTV shows.
Look, there’s plenty to shame GMMTV for. The way het shows seem to get priority when it comes to budgeting (looking at you, Scarlet Heart). The way they constantly overlook their artist’s safety in favor of pleasing fans. The way they have zero out gay actors despite having the largest stable in the industry, which seems to suggest they may actively be encouraging their actors to stay in the closet. But choosing to bypass all of these legitimate concerns to shame them over an imagined lack of queer content is a choice. They gave us 11 explicitly queer shows this year. Name another production company in the world that did that.
No one’s saying people have to like the content GMMTV puts out, but I think we should all try to remember that these shows aren’t made for us. They are made for Thai teenagers. So don’t complain when you’re the one who chose to watch it—and then continue watching it week after week. There are plenty of other production companies out there. Maybe try harassing one of them for a change?
#👏👏👏👏👏#we got a beautiful and fun show and people are still mad#if you didn't think the story was enough or carried the relationship far enough that's what fanfic is for y'all#peaceful property

Iqiyi had some of this translated but looks like Gaga and Viki didn't, so just in case you were curious:
"My mom died a long time ago. Ever since I can remember my life has been planned and scheduled by the hour. Get up at 5, breakfast at 6, leave for school at 7, exam at 8. My childhood with the exception of sleep..."
