The thing about this whole Musk thing is that everyone is acting so shocked, like this came out of nowhere, and that level of surprise is only possible if you've been plugging your ears and ignoring the violent and rapid rise of antisemitism and pretending like conservatives and Far Right give a single fuck about Jews.
If you've been paying any attention to what Jewish people have been saying, instead of accusing them of "crying antisemitism" and comparing them to Nazis and justifying their increased exclusion from public life and society and spreading horrific blood libel, then you should not be surprised in the slightest. This was seen coming from a mile away and Jews have been begging for people to pay attention, to care, only to be accused of making things up or wanting to be oppressed or trying to distract from Palestine.
The complete refusal from liberals and leftists to acknowledge antisemitism in any meaningful way, to actually give a single fuck about Jews and Jewish lives and Jewish safety, is one of many reasons why Trump is in office. One of many reasons why Musk has actual power now. One of many reasons why these absolute fucking jokes, these billionaire children who have only gotten to this point by throwing around money they didn't even earn themselves, are now chomping at the bit to drag the US into being a fascist dictatorship and throw us all into WWIII.
And even as I'm writing this, I know the people this is about will not notice or care because they've convinced themselves that this could never ever apply to them, that they're one of the Good Ones™ and so they could never be bigoted or do bigoted things, so they'll reblog this post and never consider that it could be about them. It's miserable and exhausting and it feels like nothing is ever going to change and that antisemitism will always be something the world is united on.

Right now I can't fully article my feelings, and I haven't been able to for some, but I have big feelings on how much of the internet and tumblr was all of over Alex Hirsch, a Jew, and his creation, Gravity Pines, and specifically the new content when it came out, the Book of Bill all while they were being horrific and still are being horrific to Jews.
There is something about how goyim will consume us and consume that which we make and yet not for moment give a single care for us.
For all that they compare us to parasites and vampires the horrifying truth is that this is parasitic relationship, but we are not the ones doing draining here.
It is the most toxic radioactive relationship ever and any time we try to leave, try to point that out, try to do anything about we are the monsters.
When we say hey it is fucked to call us demons we are told that just proves we are the truth we are demons.
When try to fit what they want we are called duplicitous and deceptive.
When we try to embrace our everything that they have try to kill out of us we are called Nazis, white supremacists, and colonizers you know the names of those who have tried to murder us and still keep trying to.
They will take what we make, what we create, what we have, and what we are happy to share until there is nothing left and when they are done they want us to be silent husks who think nothing, hear nothing, speak nothing, do nothing, are nothing.
We should be dust. Stay down on the ground and be trodden upon.
We should be a broken people, a hopeless people, an empty people, who come from nowhere and have no where to go. Forever Strangers in a Stranger Land that is how we should be and we should accept that and be grateful for it.
But we don't and that is unacceptable to them. That we are an ancient people with deep ties and much history and Homeland is unacceptable. That we refuse to anyone's pawns is unacceptable.
That we do not forget and refuse to is seen as the great betrayal.
Our job in their eyes is to be things not people. That we insist on having our humanity recognized is a part of makes us evil and has been a key aspect of our struggle for thousands of years.

The Israel/Palestine situation is the Left Wing's version of the Right Wing's stance on abortion. It has been made the central pillar of being on the alt-Left in the way that extreme republicans in the US have turned abortion into a core part of their identity.
The belief that everyone deserves safety and dignity should be an ideal held by Andy and all reasonable human beings. It shouldn't be a partisan issue to say I believe innocent Palestinians are dying in the same breath as saying I believe innocent Israelis are dying. You should be able to say what happened on October 7th was a violent act of unjustifiable violence and also be able to say the destruction in Gaza is undeniably horrific and I want it to end. Any reasonable person should be able to look at what's happened and say "I believe Israelis were brutally raped by Hamas terrorists" and also be able to say "the fact that people, including members of the Knesset, defended IDF soldiers accused of rape is unconscionable and must be condemned".
But instead it has become an identity defining must have that to be accepted on the Alt-Left, you believe that every single thing done by Hamas is justifiable, no matter how horrific or barbaric or violent. The same people who believe prisons are just there to get retribution on criminals and that this is unacceptable must also believe that when it comes to innocent Israeli civilians, retribution for something they have never done is not just jutifiable but neccesary to punish them for existing.
I will now be calling people alt-Left because they are. They are not left wing, they do not believe in equality and safety for all. They are no different to the alt right in their mindless, gleeful violence against those they have defined as deserving. Most leftists are not like this. Even those unhappy about Israel's response and the destruction resulting from it are still normal about Jews, and normal about Israel existing as a country because any reasonable person understands that you cannot simply dissolve a country and that the world is complicated.
Real leftists fight for all, equally.
The Alt-Left have never been left wing, they've always been violent extremists who cosplay as left-wing as it makes them popular. They're no different from a populist right wing despot. They've simply found a different group of people they wish to appease

You know, during the 6-8 weeks that I fully stepped away from tumblr, it was in large part made possible by the fact that my personal life has been an on fire dumpster wafting down a stream of sewage (no I will not be elaborating publicly) to the point where I have been utterly incapable of engaging with anything else.
But one very pale upside to this is that, for those 6 - 8 weeks, I was so caught up in my own personal bullshit that I lived in a world where violent antisemitism on the left, violent transphobia on the right, horrific war updates, and the upcoming terrors of the US election and its potential societal fallout didn't exist to me.
And in particular, I was blissfully unaware of any unhinged things the tumblr red-brown alliance goon squad were saying about Jews.
On the one hand, I'm glad my real life has stabilized (a bit. for now.)
On the other hand, coming back to this site for even just a couple days has felt like

So anyway uhh. Hmu on discord if you want to reliably reach me lol. Also don't argue with idiots online... you're never ever ever going to convince them not to be a cesspool, but if you build community offline you're more likely to make a real difference (something most of these idiots cannot even conceptualize let alone do) or at least have IRL friends to weather the storm with.

Israel is so kind to the Palestinians. My favorite is the pecan shelling festival Israel held at UNRWA schools in 2014. Google “Israel shelling UNRWA schools 2014” to learn more.
Yeah man, that shit is horrific and I hope everyone involved in that series of war crimes gets deported to the Hague idk why you're talking like this is going to change my perspective.
you understand that I do not support Likud or military conscription or war crimes of any kind, right? I engage with you dipshits here because you're being radicalized by Nazi Kremlin garbage, that doesn't mean I think Israel is an innocent victim or blameless.
Yeah they've done loads of horrible things. Now when's the last time you protested for China to stop being a country? See, the problem with you is that you're all hypocrites.
You cry about genocide on one hand and then cheer for the actually genocidal Houthis, whose slogan is literally "a curse upon the Jews" lmao on the other. None of this is hidden. You are all just monumentally idiotic.

Genuine question. What was it about Hamas breaking into homes, doing war crimes, killing civilians, raping women, killing and possibly beheading babies made y'all break your "no politics" rule to post support about it?
Condemning one side for genocide while ignoring the other side chanting "gas the Jews" is a special kind of irony.
i don't have the energy to respond to this right now. i never once said i approved of or condoned hamas. hamas is a terror organization and any and all killing of human beings is wrong. however you are listening to propaganda. most of the sensationalized headlines about hamas, specifically the beheading one have all been proven to be fake and have literally no evidence. hamas does not represent the palestinian people or the people of gaza. and yet the genocidal israeli government has decided to indiscriminately punnish all 2.1 million people living in gaza for the horrific actions of hamas. this is called collective punishment and it is literally defined as a war crime. gaza's population is 50% children. gaza is the world's largest concentration camp and open air prison. it has been under military blockade for the past 16 years. israel controls the food water electricity fuel movement of people and everything else going in and out of gaza.
this is a walled off open air prison that is extremely densely populated, extremely poor, and full of children. and israel is depriving the entire population of food, clean water, electricity, and carpet bombing them, using banned illegal chemical weapons, refusing to allow in humanitarian aid. they have bombed hospitals, bombed residential buildings, bombed people fleeing after israel told them to evacuate (but joke was on them because they can't evacute since there's no where to go because israel controls all the check points and refuses to let palestinians out, instead trapping them in gaza while there's still no electricity or water or food or any other supplies coming in.
and then don't even get me started on the propaganda israel has been using to demonize and dehumanize palestinians. the defense minister literally called all palestinians "human animals" and said israel would treat them as such. top government officials have released images depicting palestinians as cockroaches and insects needing to be exterminated. they have referred to all gazan's as terrorists to justify their massacre of them.
this is fucking genocide. this is exactly what the nazi's did to jewish people. this is genocide. this is genocide. this is genocide. i have not heard a single palestinian person directing hatred at jewish people. (which is not to say that there has been no antisemitism going on, because there absolutely has, and I wholeheartedly despise it). however i have heard them criticize the israeli government for its depravity and cruelty and literal fucking war crimes it is gleefully committing.
criticizing israel for committing genocide is not antisemetic. criticizing a government for doing horrific evil highly illegal things against international law and against literally all moral humanity and human decency is not antisemetic. it is literally the morally right thing to do. what israel is doing is evil.
there are jewish people who agree wholeheartedly that israel's illegal occupation of palestine and their apartheid and ethnic cleansing are horrific. because they are.
and don't talk about irony. israel is the biggest fucking hypocrite in the entire fucking world. surviving a genocide does not give you the fucking right to perpetrate another genocide. but here israel is. and despite everything they do, they somehow always always play the victim despite the fact that they are the oppressor. israel will always say that any criticism of them and their actions is antisemetic. when in fact, it is entirely justified criticism of a deeply awful and morally bankrupt governnment that is and has been perpetrating heinous atrocities against the people of palestine for decades.
israel gives all jewish people a bad name. because real jewish people know that genocide is never okay. real jewish people know that israel's actions against palestinians are horrific and in no way justified. real jewish people stand with palestinians and support a free palestine.
all this and more is why it is the morally correct thing to do to support palestine and take a stand agains israel
and because you asked, the reason i'm breaking the 'no politics' rule is because of the responses from people like you. so many people have bought into israel's propaganda and their dehumanization of palestinians. there is so much islamophobia that any time people hear a single critique of israel, they jump in to condemn hamas and say 'oh so you support hamas' 'what about hamas' 'so you approve of people wanting to kill jews', demonstrating the insane racist mental gymnastics they are doing by literally mentally equating all palestinians with terrorists who deserve to be killed. and this is so widespread. people and all the world governments are sitting back and watching as this happens without lifting a goddamn fucking finger. with ukraine and russia, everyone jumped in to defend ukraine and support them and condemn russia. immediately. but it's radio fucking silence for palestinne. because of racism and islamophobia and because people are too cowardly to take a stand and risk pissing off all the masses of misinformed racist islamophobic biased people who support israel. and not only are people not fucking talking about it (or only talking about poor innocent israel and their right to 'defend themselves' which is the biggest fucking load of shit ever), almost all of our governments are actively funding israel's military. the very same fucking military that is literally committing a genocide right now.
if you're not horrified by all of this, then you are not a human being. if you do not stand with palestinians as israel blatantly to tries to annihilate them, then you do not have an ounce of humanity left in your soul.

So you admit that even when a holy book instructs or excuses horrific acts to other people that doesn’t make the religion itself or its followers inherently evil?
Because for every fucked up thing in Muslim holy books I’m sure I can find something similar in other holy books or stories, just because one religion “doesn’t do it anymore” doesn’t mean the religion is inherently one of peace.
If your problem is solely with people’s actions then direct your ire towards those actions
But if you hate the beliefs behind these actions, then be consistent and hate ALL similar beliefs
There are people trying to fulfill a cow based prophecy in Israel right now so it’s not like wacko’s don’t exist in Judaism to.
There is a difference. Muslim caliphs, mullahs, and sheiks are constantly preaching the Quran to their flocks every week, and they are repeating the calls to Jihad, the destruction of an Israel, attacks on Jews and other Kafirs. And so, there are 5 murderous attacks, per day, documented, by those shouting Allahu Akbar, our Islamic God is Great, we are killing the unbelievers in Allah's name." 5 per day, 2,000 per year since these attacks have been documented starting in 2001, post 9-11, an Allahu Akbar event I witnessed personally, and lost 2 female colleagues who were killed in barbaric manner while doing their day jobs in the World Trade Center. Some of these 46.262 Allahu Akbar attacks have resulted in 1-5 deaths, some 200, and some 3,000.
This is not happening in Christianity or in Judaism, nor in Buddhism or Taoism.
Maybe you can tell me, how many Jews have blown up airplanes or flown them into civilian buildings? How many Buddhists have killed 200 people dancing at a beach bar? How many upset or ultra-orthodox Protestants kidnapped hundreds of Nigerian or Yazidi girls, and used them as personal sex slaves? How many Zoroastrians have blown up buses and pizzerias? Sure, Jews have wackos - every religion does.
I used to think that all religions were peaceful save for a few extremists, up until 9-11, after which I did an intense amount of research into the history of Islam and of Jihad (both are intensely and deliberately intertwined). Also, it turns out, Mohammad was no Moses and no Jesus. He's not like other actual prophets.
What I learned is that the effed up Islamic trilogy (Quran, Hadiths, Sirah) is very dangerous, is militaristic and political, and ~60% of the texts instruct Muslims, specifically, how to treat others (non-Muslims, Kafirs, unbelievers) as 2nd class citizens at best, and corpses at worst. This is a major and defining difference. I won't get into all the nuances bc it would take an entire book.

Dropout TV has an Antisemitism problem
TL;DR: What you think isn’t antisemitic actually is. Replace Zionist or Jew with any other minority group, would you say the same thing?
If you read the title of this piece and thought “wait, I thought the CEO was Jewish and so were members of the talent, crew, and personnel” then you’d be correct. I am not talking about them. I am talking about the fanbase, which has now become so outwardly antisemitic and hostile that they are disparaging Dropout and Dropout personnel on its own official Discord server. For those of you who don’t know what Dropout is, it is a media company that was formerly known as CollegeHumor that produces original programming. Often their content is comedic in nature and covers everything from improv games to actual play to animated series. The company and people involved are very progressive and their ideals are often seen through the content that is produced. Discord is a social media platform that allows for text messaging, voice calls, video calls, and the sharing of media files. So what is the antisemitism problem? In November 2023 a channel on the official Dropout Discord server was made titled “palestine”. The opening statement of the channel is that it is fan run and fan moderated. This is not an issue and is a good move by a company that in itself is often very political. However, the fanbase running this particular channel then proceeded to (and has continued to) engage in antisemitic behavior while also chasing away or banning anyone who calls it out. Initially you would think that this space would begin as many of these things do, a gradual shift to extremism over the course of time. You would also think that it would be accepting and tolerant given the proclivity of progressive and leftist spaces to emphasize dialogue, diversity, inclusivity, and cooperation. Unfortunately, this channel began right out with extremism by targeting Zionists (read: Jews or anyone who spoke up) and banning them from the entire server. Any information that was provided by sources not in line with the channel and moderator ideals is labeled as Zionist (Jewish) Propaganda, deleted, and the person removed.
Tumblr media
Fig. 1. Moderator message after removing two people near the beginning of the channel’s creation who were asking about Israelis, the hostages, and other such questions.
The irony is that the channel primarily shares material from Al-Jazeera, which has long been recognized as a pro-Hamas outlet, or other sources that are actively associated with Hamas as well. When confronted about the sharing of materials from sources that support Hamas and the implication that they, the members, therefore support its activities the members of the channel will often deflect and say they don’t support the group, but then justify the actions of the terrorist group.
Tumblr media
Fig 2. User justifying Hamas’s actions in response to one of the removed Zionists. This statement implies that Israel has been constantly murdering people and thus Hamas’s actions are valid.
Tumblr media
Fig. 3. Both users are responding to one of the banned persons talking about the conflict. In context, both are denying that Hamas takes aid from the various charities and thereby keeps Palestinians impoverished, as such they have to fight back (against Israel).
Tumblr media
Fig. 4. The same user from Figure 2 and 3 (bottom user) justifying Hamas’s attack on October 7th. This response is to someone asking about condemnation of the initial attack, and the user says it is in response to mass murder, thereby providing an ahistorical account.
Members of the channel also began justifying the Houthi’s behavior when their offensive began and even went so far as to say that they could not be antisemitic because they are Semitic people. To give credit where credit is due, this position was quickly corrected. However, people still maintained their support of the Houthi’s regardless of their knowledge that the group engaged in horrific activities.
Tumblr media
Fig. 5. User saying Houthis are not antisemitic and justifies this with an outdated and antiquated classification system.
Tumblr media
Fig. 6. Justification of the Houthis because they’re fighting Israel denial that Israel (and by extensions Jews) are crying wolf about antisemitism.
The discussion surrounding the Houthis, and in turn Hamas and its actions, eventually led to members justifying terrorism. There are two positions to their justification 1) If Hamas is the government and in charge of the area, then it can’t be a terrorist attack. 2) Any attack on a colonial power is valid, and Israel is a white imperialist colonial country, so the attack is justified. The first position denies that governments can engage in terror attacks on other countries or peoples. The second position denies the existence of Jews from the MENA region and that they were forced out of their home countries and into Israel upon its creation. To members of this channel, Israel is made of white Europeans. For some members the denial that terrorism is a thing turned into outright conspiracy that the word terrorism is an excuse to commit genocide.
Tumblr media
Fig. 7. Top user is “asking questions” and thus denies 10/7 was a terrorist attack because Hamas is the government. Bottom user states that there is no such thing as terrorism, and in turn denies MENA Jews history by implicating Israel is a colonial power.
Tumblr media
Fig. 8. User implies that the word terrorism is an excuse to commit genocide and that we can excuse terrorism because of the USA’s past and present actions.
There are a lot more examples within the channel as well. There are moments of Holocaust inversion, Holocaust denial, denial of October 7th, usage of terrorist terminology, attacking the hostages or denying that Israel is trying to get them back, denial of Jewish history, etc... It is ironic that they repeat any source not on their list is hasbara (Jewish propaganda) while exclusively posting Al-Jazeera. The AJ materials the members post do not include the negotiations between Israel and Hamas, they do not include incidents where Hamas declined turning over the hostages and a ceasefire, nor do they include interviews with returned hostages and their experiences. The entire channel is designed to make Israel (Zionists (Jews)) into the villain and diminish the actions of Hamas. At no point in the channel is there a discussion on Hamas beating/shooting/killing Gazans who try to get aid from the supplied resources. The dichotomy is clear.
However, one of the most recent incidents of antisemitism happened in response to the Dropout newsletter that came out recently as of this writing (02/19/2024). I will let you read the message below first.
Tumblr media
Fig. 9. User attacking Sam Reich, the CEO of Dropout, for maintaining a neutral position in the conflict.
At first this message appears to be attacking any other CEO for not committing to a progressive cause. If this message was taken outside of this conflict, it could be used for any movement that has happened in the USA in the past few decades. However, this is what we call the “pound of flesh”. This phrase is fairly common, but what does it mean when it comes to the I/P conflict, antisemitism, and Jews? Jewish people have always had to give a “pound of flesh” to prove that they’re not one of the “bad ones”. At some point a Jewish person will have to give up some aspect of their identity to be more socially acceptable in their respective social circle and/or larger group that they belong to. As the Left has clearly defined any Jew who does not outwardly speak up as an “evil Zionist” this means that Sam Reich is therefore one of the “bad ones”. Einat Wolf wrote about this very phenomenon for TabletMag where she discusses how young Jews are being pressured to renounce Israel on college campuses. What the members of the channel do not realize, or do not want to accept, is that pressuring a Jewish person to renounce part of their cultural identity is in itself antisemitic. Jewish people have a 2000-year tie to the Levant region and regardless of what the current government of Israel is doing, and whether you stand opposed to it or not, asking a Jew to publicly giving up that connection is engaging in the same antisemitic demands that have plagued them for centuries.
As such, Dropout, a company with Jewish personnel, is being harassed by its antisemitic fanbase who insist they are not antisemitic while engaging in centuries old antisemitic behaviors that Jews have seen before. I personally do not know what should be done, or what the company can do, but considering the majority of these members are self-avowed progressive Leftists it is concerning that such spaces have become hostile to Jewish Leftists such as myself and others. Many of these people will likely think that they’re not being antisemitic. Some of you readers may not think they’re antisemitic either, or that you yourself share similar views and are not antisemitic. But not all antisemitism is outright calls to “Gas the Jews”, sometimes it’s more subtle and involves silencing Jewish voices you disagree with, proving that you’re a “good Jew”, denying our history, and more. So the next time someone says “Oh you’re just using antisemitism as an excuse to keep me quiet”, maybe think that you’re using it to quiet Jewish voices. Would you, at any other point, say something like this to another minority speaking up about hate towards them? No? Then what’s the difference? Antisemitism is one of the oldest forms of hate, it is systemic and ingrained in so many cultures across the world. The first step is recognizing it and being cognizant. Hopefully the Dropout Discord can take these first steps. If not…well I don’t see many Jews feeling safe there for quite some time.

For thousands of years, Jewish blood was cheap. It wasn’t worth a thing. Jews were the easy target, the blame, the punchbag, the victim. Whoever felt like it-from the drunk in some European village to church officials, kings, and rulers-spilled Jewish blood without batting an eye. Pogroms, burnings, lynchings—take your pick. For centuries, it was open season on the Jews.
And why? Because no one cared. There was no one to answer to. Jews didn’t have a state, didn’t have an army, didn’t have a voice. We were at the mercy of whoever had the power that day. It didn't matter if it was a mob on the street or a king signing an expulsion order, Jews were nothing more than a target.
But everything changed, and it changed for two reasons: the Holocaust and Israel.
The Holocaust was one of the most horrific and unimaginable atrocities in human history, and it made the world feel so raw that even those who had spent centuries upon centuries crushing Jews had to step back. It was dark, vile, even for those that had laughed at pogroms or expulsions. The Holocaust somehow acted like a mirror, making the world confront its own brutality.
But even something as massive as the Holocaust, as horrific as the industrial slaughter of six million Jews, has an expiration date in people’s minds. Over time, people forget. The world gets distracted, the survivors die off, and suddenly the lessons get fuzzy. The old antisemitism starts creeping back in through the cracks.
That’s where Israel comes in.
The one that shall never let that happen again is Israel. Daring, audacious beyond belief, unapologetic-this is Israel, Its the only country in the world that has no dilemma what so ever about doing what it needs to do, whatever that might be, to protect the Jewish people. No questions asked, no permission sought, no limits.
Israel will bomb, raid, bulldoze, and defend its people to the last man because no one else will. And that audacity—that unrelenting fire—is precisely the reason Israel is hated. The same people missing those days when the Jews were weak and defenseless and easy to oppress are the ones raging against Israel from behind this newly found "humanitarian" mask.
They hide their hate as issues of "human rights," of "justice," but we know what this is: the same hate that has been burning for centuries, just repackaged. Because deep down, they can't stand the fact that Jews fight back now. They can't stand that we refuse to go quietly into the night like we did for so long.
The Holocaust woke the world up, but Israel is the reason it stays awake. And that’s why the hatred is relentless. Because Israel won’t apologize for doing what every other nation would do for its people. And to those who wish for the days when Jewish blood was cheap, Israel is their nightmare—a nightmare that won’t go away.

Like many others I'm worried about the USA presidential election and I'm worried for a variety of reasons.
I want to focus on specific worry I have in regards to said election.
I am Jewish and if don't already know Jews only make 0.2% of the world population, not even half a percent.
In the USA we make up 2% of the USA population. American Jews are majority democrat and our voting trends reflect.
The past two presidential ballots that have had Trump on them Jews were the second highest voting bloc to vote against Trump, the highest voting bloc being Black Americans.
I remember when Trump won the presidency and election night was not even over and how I saw people, leftist specifically, blaming Jews for his win.
Despite the numbers showing that we did not want him as president and did our best to make sure he did not win.
And the second time he was on the ballot, but he didn't win. Still we were blamed for not doing enough, for it being to close, for one thing or another.
Again regardless of what the facts had to say about how Jews voted and it was still the same people doing the blaming.
For a group that is only 2% of the countries population to be second highest voting bloc against Trump is something that I think is pretty impressive and we did it twice.
We currently are dealing with people openly celebrating one of the most horrific and tragic events in Jewish history since the Holocaust. We have people openly cheering on the deaths of Jews, calling for the deaths of more Jews, doxxing of Jews, calling us unclean, using blood libel, I mean you name it they are doing it and it is not coming from the Right only as one would expect. But rather from the Left.
Many Jews myself included who consider ourselves leftist and still do no longer feel safe in these so called progressive spaces and how can when our safety is at serious risk.
So I'm seriously concerned because if we had two elections with Trump on the ballot where leftist blamed Jews despite the evidence showing Jews overwhelming did not vote for Trump and now we have this climate that we have and the odds of Trump being the Republican nominee are pretty high.
What is going to happen after this presidential because either way no matter Jews do, no matter how we vote we still lose.
(This is not me saying Jews should vote for Trump, G-d forbid no, do not do that)

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Marcellus, the character in Hamlet who uttered those words, couldn’t have been more right. Things are indeed askew in Denmark – and in most of Europe, for that matter.
Earlier this month the Muslim community went berserk with rage over several satirical cartoons that Muslims felt maligned Mohammad and disrespected Islam. Apparently, it’s acceptable for Muslims to trash the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, destroy revered ancient Buddhist statues in Afghanistan, and desecrate Jewish burial sites whenever they get their hands on them, but woe to anyone who dares look at Islam the wrong way.
Throughout the Arab world there have been calls to behead those responsible for publishing those cartoons. The more moderate only demand that hands be chopped off. Western embassies and buildings housing humanitarian organizations have been attacked and demolished, and European products are being boycotted.
I can’t help but think the West is getting a preview of what life in Europe will be like in the not so distant future. Nominally Christian Europe is in free fall. Due to secularization and the rejection of Catholicism and traditional Protestantism with their restrictions on premarital relationships, birth control, and abortion, non-Muslim Europeans are failing to reproduce themselves in a significant manner. Their Muslim counterparts, however, who for years have freely been immigrating to Scandinavia, Germany, France and other European ports of entry, are having children – lots and lots of children.
It’s just a matter of time before Christian Europeans become a minority in their own countries. And a despised minority at that. In what can only be considered an extraordinary irony, Christians will be the new “Jews” of Europe, especially as the real Jews of Europe, with their keener perception of the approaching storm, begin leaving in greater numbers.
Even now, when the practitioners of Islam have yet to become the majority in their respective Western counties, they freely “express” their dissatisfaction with regional or federal governments – as they did in France with weeks of rioting after two Muslim youths were electrocuted while running from the police.
Sooner or later (I think sooner), native-born Islamic fundamentalists in countries like France and Denmark will start making demands – that all women be covered from head to toe, for example, or that all newspaper articles and television and radio programs be filtered through Muslim censors – along with threats that their governments better comply lest they suffer the chaos and destruction the world has already been witness to.
Kristallnacht, when Jewish-owned properties and synagogues in Germany were smashed and set on fire by frenzied mobs, will seem like a mild precursor to what Islamic fundamentalists are going to do to their soon-to-be “minority” neighbors.
A malignancy has overtaken the body of Europe, and the continent’s days are surely numbered. Honestly, I’m not exactly shedding tears for Christian Europe, birthplace of the Crusades, the Inquisition, pogroms, ghettos, blood libel, forced exile, massacre, and of course the culmination of it all, the Holocaust.
Despite Europeans’ past horrific treatment of Jews, I would be at least somewhat more sympathetic to Europe’s fate if not for the fact that ugly antisemitism has again become fashionable among Europeans – non-Muslim Europeans.
And one can’t blame the resurgent Jew-hatred on ignorance or lack of education – indeed, it’s not the ignorant or the uneducated who are fostering the hostility but rather the academics in their ivory towers and the journalists in the print and broadcast media. In institutes of higher learning, in newspapers and magazines, on television and radio, the truth is being distorted and bias is being implanted, with millions influenced negatively against Israel and Jews.
Murderers of Israeli children are called militants, snipers who shoot at cars are labeled freedom fighters, and Israeli retaliation after busloads of citizens are blown up is characterized as aggression and a threat to the “peace process.” There are calls for academic and economic boycotts of Israel (it’s ironic that Denmark is presently the target of an Islamic boycott, since it was Denmark’s largest trade union that was the first in Europe to advocate a boycott of Israel, in March 2002, just a month after 135 Israelis were killed in terrorist attacks). Even Russia, a country that has suffered tremendously from Islamic fundamentalism, is making overtures to Hamas.
The brutal colonizing countries of Europe that decimated and abused the native populations and plundered the natural resources of the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Africa are pressuring Israel, a literal sliver on the map, to give up lands it acquired, not by aggression but in self-defense against enemies that have been determined to annihilate it since its birth.
The double standard is alive and well across the ocean. Old World bias against the Jews is apparently so ingrained that the Europeans still haven’t figured out they’re picking on the wrong Semites.
And that’s why this child of Holocaust survivors can’t get too distraught over the likely fate of Jew-hating Europe. Ultimately, you sleep in the bed you make for yourself.
To the future “Jews” of Europe I say: Welcome to my world.

Thank you, so much, for you post on the Online Leftists.
As a Jew (not currently in Israel), who's chronically online, I keep seeing some very horrific posts claiming for "death to the Zionists", and that has been.... Not fun.
It was a massive relief to read your post and realize that maybe not *everyone* thinks like this, that maybe this is a very vocal minority.
It made my day so much better.
Thank you, that means a lot to me. If you're interested, you can see how else I have addressed the issue of Western leftist antisemitism in the context of the current conflict in my israel hamas war tag. In short: it's perfectly possible to strongly and consistently criticize the current Israeli government's actions, and to unequivocally call what's happening to Gaza a genocide, without being Nazi-level antisemitic and rabbling on about how Joe Biden is a genocidal fascist and we shouldn't vote for him because you never know, Trump might be "better on Gaza!" (Yes, an actual argument I have repeatedly seen floating around. Delusional does not begin to cover it.)
Anyway, I have done my best to limit my posts on this subject, because it's absolutely crazy-making to even attempt to discuss it online right now and I have better things to do with my one short and precious life, but I have tried to be very clear on the antisemitism issue. Both because it's really not that hard to support Palestinians without frothingly calling for the annihilation of Israel on extremely inaccurate, bigoted, and illogical grounds, and because yes, the amount of antisemitism which prevails utterly unchallenged in leftist spaces nowadays is deeply disheartening and I do not, in any sense of the word, want to be associated with those people. I also think it's important to make clear that indeed, they're a loud and harmful minority, but they don't speak for everyone who identifies as leftist or a supporter of Palestine (though I have trouble with both those labels, particularly "leftist," because of how badly they have been co-opted and the amount of explanation that it takes to make clear how I disagree with the other groups using them). Also that (shock, surprise) it is actually possible to discuss these subjects with a modicum of nuance, complexity, accuracy, and reality, rather than just yelling hysterical misinformation! Who knew.

What if I told you that the antidote to Islamophobia isn't Antisemitism?
CW for this post (you have seen the title.) I feel like this shouldn't need explaining, but merciful Brigid, some of the shit I have seen. It's time for Led Tasso to come out. I'm not Jewish, let's just get that out of the way first, but my position on Palestine is largely informed by Jewish people who have been protesting for decades about the horrific treatment of Palestinians being done by a settler colonial state appropriating their religion, culture, language, and trauma. Fascist governments weaponizing fear and hiding behind religion is a well known tactic, and the fact that so many people have put this readily available information from their minds, specifically in this conversation, speaks to how incredibly pernicious antisemitism really is. I'm treading lightly here because as someone who's not Jewish, it really isn't my place to explain the cultural complexities, trauma, or general experiences of Jewish people. But if you haven't seen those discussions crossing your feed, you should be looking inward and asking why. Because if you're not invested in Jewish voices right now (or in general), that's a red flag for the kind of rhetoric you've internalized and the struggles you take seriously. The position I can speak from, however, is one of being committed to challenging all forms of systemic violence and oppression. So from that stance, and I cannot stress this enough: If you are fighting for some at cost to others, you are reinforcing oppression. It is wild to me that "Nazi" has come to mean "The worst thing a person can be" without recognition of the fact that the ideology is inherently antisemitic, that this is its centrepiece, that Jews are the number one target. This separation is, once again, an example of how insidious this brand of hatred really is--blatant erasure of the way Jewish people are uniquely targeted. I know a lot of trans people follow me, so here's a fun fact: You know the "Doctors are transing our kids to damage fertility rates!" conspiracy? You can thank antisemitism for that, too! It's literally just a rebrand of the Great Replacement conspiracy, which is modernized "protection of Aryan bloodlines." The most recent chapter of "My Life as A Bigot" by Joanne Klan Rowling isn't just another gleeful display of her hatred of trans people, it's another addition to the laundry list of antisemitic beliefs and talking points she's been peddling for years. The Charlottesville "unite the right" Nazi rally was spurred on by the removal of confederate statues and anti-Black racism. What is it they were chanting, again? Anyone remember? Any of this ringing a bell? OH RIGHT. "Jews will not replace us." So many other forms of systemic violence are steeped in the poisonous rhetoric of antisemitism. Acting like this isn't the case damns our Jewish siblings who need us while weakening our understanding of the oppressive forces we're fighting. "One struggle" includes all of us. The fact that the Likud government uses accusations of antisemitism as a cover for their violence should make you more diligent about condemning antisemitism, not less. Because letting them weaponize something that is already so widespread and destructive makes it that much harder to dismantle.
Do not stop talking about Palestine. Do not stop speaking up against the horrors of settler colonial violence. But if you can't do this without throwing another group of oppressed people under the bus, you need to question where you learned your resistance tactics, because the company you're keeping there should disgust and terrify you.

Can i just say I am so sick and tired of people claiming genocide. I mean with saying Israel is committing genocide on Palestinians right now. Every time I see it I want to scream. This is one of the numerous reasons why the pro palestine movement sucks. They can't just say something is bad, focus on real grievances. Instead they have to exaggerate and claim everything is the worst possible version. They can't just say "palestinian civilians are suffering," or even "excessive civilian deaths." No. they have to claim genocide.
it’s disgusting. they are appropriating terms and watering them down in the process. genocide is a very real horrific problem that is ACTUALLY happening to people right now... and they have to claim that term for their situation because why? to paint israel/israelis as the ultimate evil? to claim this issue is the worst ever and insist everyone else drop everything and only care about this? to add more emphasis on their lies and propaganda of israel being a colonial empire practicing apartheid? intentional flipping because they know Jews have been victim to genocide (we see this more explicitly when they compare Israel in this war to nazis)?
Maybe part of it is that if israel is responsible for genocide, then there’s no need to acknowledge how HAMAS and their actions play a significant role in palestinian suffering? (It can't be that hamas steals aid for civilians, no it must be 100% israel’s fault and only theirs! Also joe Biden I guess! /sarcasm)
No matter what, it’s a cynical ploy and absolutely disgusting.
In some ways it reminds me of how people online have taken terms like “trigger,” “gaslight,” and more, and completely twisted and watered down their meaning, turned it all into a joke ... except obviously much worse, here.
what really grinds me up is seeing how many people are buying into this. especially gen z. I am so done with my generation honestly. im ashamed to be associated with these people. part of me doesn't get it. im not jewish. and i try my best not to be antisemitic, educate myself. it does take work, but also it’s NOT THAT HARD to just NOT post completely unverified stuff, NOT absorb your news from social media, NOT give accusations of genocide without doing any research, bothering to learn about historical context, actually understanding what experts say and explanations why it is not genocide? And most of all actually LISTEN to jewish people when they talk about their own history and heritage?
Im not saying this to say im so great, in fact it's the opposite: what im doing is nothing special and amazing. it's really BASIC. yet SO MANY PEOPLE fail this??? what the fuck????
I understand people cannot educate themselves on literally very single topic. But then if they are ignorant, then they should just SHUT UP and not weigh on something they didn't take the work to understand. That is not hard!!!! NOT casually throwing around accusations of genocide should be the bare minimum and yet here we are.
All of the above. I am sorry you are dealing with this from so many among your cohort, and deeply appreciate your commitment as a non-Jew to resisting the new Christ-killer / stab-in-the-back mythology. It will continue to be difficult. For decades - for CENTURIES - all the wealthiest and most educated people in societies worldwide "knew" the Jews were guilty of these terrible things.
Derek Chauvin was convicted of the second- and third-degree murder of George Floyd. There were people at that time who were upset he hadn't been nailed for first-degree murder - he was obviously guilty! Look what a horrible thing he did! Get him for everything! But there actually really are different standards of evidence for different crimes and if prosecutors had tried to go for that one they would have lost.
I don't doubt for an instant that the IDF has committed multiple war crimes during this entirely preventable, entirely pointless cataclysm. But people are racing past the crimes that are clearly visible and could be supported by evidence because they want - need - HOPE for the very worst one to be true. It is a moral obscenity. And you can tell how much they are enjoying themselves, how fine it feels to be able to invoke genocide against Jews and Uno-reverse that nagging Holocaust card, by how quickly they revert to petty Internet slang to silence counter-arguments: "lol WELL ACTUALLLYYY, so you're JUST ASKING QUESTIONS rite, nice SEALIONING." It is meant to be an inherently, automatically truthful claim, one that the Jew has no right to deny.
The Disputations of our time.
And as we did in the past... we must answer, because not-answering will not help.

Can you help me break down my family's arguments? It's just that they're on Israel's side
And they say that Palestine deserves what is happening
Their arguments are:
"But Hamas started, taking people hostage, raping women and killing children. Israel is just fighting back. If someone did the same to you I would kill their family."
"But the hospitals on Palestine are Hamas' bases"
"But cutting off energy and telecommunications in Palestine is just to prevent Hamas from communicating"
"But Gaza is a place promised by God to the Israelites, Israel is taking what is rightfully theirs"
"But Hamas was trying to make an exchange between the lives of the hostages and Gaza with Israel and Israel did not accept it because Gaza is theirs, and Hamas should have released the hostages instead of exchanging their lives"
Hello, thanks for asking. I'm going to generalize these arguments a little more just to make it more widely applicable.
"Well Israel is just taking revenge/defending itself"
Well a couple things. Taking revenge is not an actual reason for people to attack other people. Just naturally, it's not a good ideology we should ever live by.
About claims that it's defending itself: Israel is a military powerhouse dropping TONS of bombs, I mean literal TONS. To say that anyone is defending someone with that level of ammunition and pure destruction, is just cruel. No one should experience that even in an equal footing type of war. Shouldn't we strive to protect people? Isn't it right to help others?
Now for your specific case, if they're arguing that they would "kill their family" as revenge, I'm not gonna lie, I think you're going to have to delve into that with them and dismantle that idea by emphasizing revenge is never justified.
You should center the humanity of Palestinians and emphasize that they should never experience such horror in their life.
"The hospitals are Hamas bases"
There is absolutely no evidence provided of this other than Israeli propaganda. I'd show them this video, which is a testimony from a European doctor.
There's also this pamphlet they released saying that they "know that Hamas is safe" and still willingly bombs the people of gaza anyways.
You should center the humanity of Palestinians and emphasize that they should never experience such horror in their life.
"Gaza is promised by God to the Israelites"
Why is it necessary to enforce one's religious beliefs on someone else? Why must the Palestinians experience violence in order for Israel to exist? Besides, if it was "promised" to them, does that mean God is allowing them to kill people indiscriminately? Does God, the most loving Being in the Universe, ever condone such acts of horrific violence on people? I speak as a Muslim that grew up being taught that Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam are quite similar religions, so I doubt that any of these religions would condone such large scale violence.
I'm not an expert of actual religious scripture of different faiths, so I can't provide quotes or anything like that, but I'd argue that God's main purpose in our lives is to remind us to love each other.
You should center the humanity of Palestinians and emphasize that they should never experience such horror in their life.
"Hostages—"
I'm not sure what the argument in your specific case is, but I think any argument having to do with hostages does not make any logical sense. Wouldn't Israel want to protect the hostages? Isn't bombing indiscriminately dangerous for everyone, but especially the Hostages?
But even hostages aside, Palestinians shouldn't have to suffer en masse! They've been sectioned off into the largest open-air prison for 20 years! It's just plain cruel to blame them for the genocide they face when they've been victims for 75+ years!
I'd recommend introducing them to this resource that explains the history of Palestinians from around 1948 to now:
There is also this that has scholarly research for and by Palestinians:
Let me know if any of this is useful. Good luck, and thank you for sending this in.
