taking a road trip with Hal Jordan

Hal Jordan loves road trips, and he drags you with him.

It's squished in his tiny, black BMW but he makes it work. He always says that you guys aren't going to make any unnecessary stops but that's the biggest lie.

He puts on classical rock; he claims its peak music. (which isn't necessarily wrong) He's going to complain if you put on any other kind of music even if he doesn't mind it.

The second he drives past an old looking shop, that no normal person would go to, he turns around. He claims its adventurous and that your unable to have fun. He absolutely will buy the weirdest thing he finds there.

Once you guys stop at a gas station, he buys a lot of candy. Even though most of it is expired, he eats it all.

You guys end up at a very ugly, worn-down hotel. He claims it looked better online. It's a disgusting stay but he makes it better with cuddles and kisses.

Once you reach your destination, he's taking photos of anything and everything.

very specific bonus:

If you listen to hole or bikini kill (marry me) he will listen to them with you and let you choose the music. He also enjoys Radiohead and 3eb.

keep trying to think of what music hal listens to, like i can picture him jamming out to classic rock bands, specifically led zeppelin and blue öyster cult, but then i can see him also having a playlist that is just filled with songs that just DIRECTLY relate to space or flying like rocket man by elton john or space oddity by david bowie (that's just a biased take) but idk, he's such a complex character but i can just SEE him listening to man on the moon by R.E.M. while flying through space on a mission or something to make himself feel like the main character 😭 forgive me for the blabber and the fact that this COULD be ooc this man is legit like on my mind 24/7 💀

the watchtower was still for once. no alarm going off warning you or the rest of the league of an important mission galaxies away, no aliens invading earth, nothing; just peace and quiet. just what you needed. you turn your head to look at hal, mindless of what’s going on around him, tapping his foot while scrolling on his phone. you smirk, no more peace and quiet for him.

“am i just rude, or does your suit make you look like a green bean from far away?” you say, leaning back into your chair with a smirk on your face, trying not to laugh. hal turns to you and rolls his eyes with a scoff, not amused with you trying to start yet another bickering match.

“green bean? that’s all you could think of? real creative there bubbles.�� he slides his chair closer to you while laughing, “real smooth.”

you’re taken aback from the words that just escaped the brunette’s mouth. really? he’s still on this?

“could you stop bringing up how i choked on bubble tea the last time we went to the mall? it happened once, and besides, that was 3 months ago!” you exclaim while throwing your hands up in the air. you release them to your sides lazily and slouch back in your chair with defeat. hal just laughs again and scoots his chair even closer to you, both of your armrests touching. 

“yeah well, just because it was 3 months ago doesn’t mean it’s any less funny.”

“you’re mean” you said whining, “last time i checked i still don’t bring up the time you-”

“don’t you dare” hal states with a threatening tone. “do you know how embarrassing that was? barry and ollie still bring it up, it’s been two years!”

“two years since you broke the watchtower toaster? or am i confusing this up with my toaster that you also broke?” you say quickly with a playful tone. hal lets out a groan and slumps in his chair.

“it was a mistake! my bad for trying to make my partner breakfast!” 

“you could’ve used your ring hal!”

“yeah but still! it’s the thought that counts, right?” hal states with a huff, turning his head away from you.

“maybe…” you say, turning and putting a hand on his cheek, turning his head to face yours. “you know you still owe me a new toaster, right?”

“and you know you’re a jerk, right?” hal says, closing his eyes slowly and sighing into your touch.

“funny coming from you!” you say with a giggle and squishing his cheeks. “but you’re my jerk,” you say with a smile.

“of course i am,” he says, smiling through squished cheeks.

and he was right, hal is your jerk, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.

yet again, you’re knocked over by a sweeping kick to the ankles. how are you still not picking this up?! you sit up and huff in annoyance, sick of being stuck in the same scenario over and over again.

“ollie, you said we would train for only an hour, it’s been three!” you say crossing your arms. the blond standing above you chuckles and smirks, turning his head to the side so that he wouldn’t laugh more at your cute expression of annoyance.

“hey now, you said you wanted to spar with me; i’m just trying to prepare you for whatever could happen.”

“and that includes sweeping kicks…? seriously?”

“it’s star city babe, you never know what might happen!”

“yeah but still!” you say, exhausted. “i’m not the one fighting bad guys and saving the day all the time like you! i work a reasonable job in a decent career field that makes pretty good money, what makes you think that i’m going to be attacked with a dang sweeping kick if i get robbed? does it look like i live in gotham?” 

both taken aback and amused by your outburst, ollie just chuckles more. reaching a hand out he pulls you up and puts his hands on your shoulders, “you’re right babe, you don’t live on the east coast,” he says with a smile, “but you never know… hey did i ever tell you how i keep fighting with this one guy who only speaks sound effects?”

“yes ollie, you have,” you say with a sigh while cracking a smile of your own. “isn’t his name onomatopoeia or something like that?” 

“sounds about right” ollie states. cocking his head to the side he brushes a stray piece of hair away from your face and looks at you with a soft expression, holding the side of your face with tenderness: “you know, did i ever tell you that you make my heart go boom? dare i say pow?”

“oh my gosh oliver you are so corny!!” you say with a laugh, holding on to the man’s bicep for stability.

“you love me though!!” the man says, laughing himself.

“and boom! you are correct!”
