Venus in 8th/Scorpio people, can be highly sexually confident yet always feel judged by others for expressing their sexual energy.
Others seem to want to shame them and bring them down.
They must learn to praise themselves and give themselves their own value.

They can completely change people when they're in relationship. They hold an unseen power over others that people either run from it or succumb to.
They are drawn to the darker sides of people since they too can relate to their darkness.. (Not specifically toxic).
Their sex appeal very alluring. They are the ultimate Femme Fatales. Flirting, tempting and coquetry are how they magnetize their lovers.
They take pleasure in indulging in their desires and enjoy being in altered states of consciousness.
Their own power can isolate them because it causes intense reactions.
Can gain global recognition easily.

These people have a daredevil spirit within'.
They live exploring danger and the forbidden.
When it comes to any relationship they desire 'All or Nothing'
They don't trust easily and have strong defenses.

Can I rant for a bit about how cool it is that one of Lief's defining traits is that he's smart? Like, not even necessarily cunning or clever or street smart (though he's totally that too) but just. Book smart. He knows maths and history and english and he uses that knowledge for stuff! And! He's also cunning and clever and street smart and a fighter at the same time!
And I know it's not that big a deal, but normally in adventure stories, especially for a younger audience, the hero's strengths are more in sword fighting or magic casting or being really good at parkour. And here the hero is smart and he's proud of it, and his friends are proud of it, and the world is proud of it! Literally! Deltora Quest as a world and a plot revolves around puzzles and riddles and putting clues together more than it does on physical fights. In almost every battle they get into, the day is won not by being better at fighting than their opponents, but because they realised the loophole or figured out some vital info in the nick of time. (And I say almost every battle, because Jasmine is both willing and able to stab a bitch.)
The Topaz that clears and strengthens the mind is probably the most used Gem in the whole series, because Lief knows it's value so well. And even when he can't rely on its strength, when the moon is new or the Belt is covered, he's still using his brains to find his way out of impossible situations! It's just! So cool!
Brain over brawn and all that, except not really, 'cause he's also a badass with the sword! Wtf! Lief why are you so cool??
Deltora is probs my fav series. I am OBSESSED with the characters and worldbuilding, but the codes and riddles and puzzles? That is my jam you guys. I studied those things. Every time a new one came up, I memorised it! I tried recreating it! It was awesome! And the Lief + Jasmine combo of Basically-A-Nerd Who Is Awesome and Badass Fleshed-Out Women My Beloved who are besties before love-interests was a pinnacle of my childhood.

It legitimately makes feel crazy how Culpepper exists only to prop up the male characters. She has one speaking line, and then every other comment on her existence is men insulting and killing her. Her death isn't about herself--it's to highlight Ryan's hypocrisy, Cohen's thin skin, and Sullivan's, her murder's, grief.
Maddening that we're supposed to feel bad for the cop who killed Culpepper, and then stole from his victim's home, and sympathize with his sadness instead of focusing on Culpepper's actual death. Her death isn't hers, more focus is given to the men in her story than her own thoughts and feelings. She doesn't exist outside of men, she doesn't even exist for herself. Her relationship with Jasmine isn't even in the game, it's something added in the book and even there, their relationship is only explored in male characters talking about them behind their backs. Never on screen interactions.
She's not a character in the story, she's a prop for the rest of the male cast, and this can be said for a majority of the female characters in BioShock.

OH YEAH
I'M NOT LETTING GO THE THEORY THAT JASMINE CAN SEE THE RIFT
Tumblr media
How did this sadistic bitch see the rift, but no one else batted an eye?
Tumblr media
"I saw it PHYSICALLY open...." COME ON
I'm tweaking, cause why no one talking about this tiny detail? Yeah yeah, I get maybe the coloring was just to show the reader what she meant...
Tumblr media
Again, flickering is suspicious, but Jasmine was the one to say, "Well, that's not good :D"
Tumblr media
And she also suggested that they should move
Like I've said before, it's either
A) She can see the rift
OR
B) She's one of the few people who can sense the rift opening or forming
idk
c'mon
it explains a lot, honestly

A rant and a discovery.
The idea of Damian and Danny being twins didn’t seem that novel to me, and I chalked it up to reading too much ‘found family’ or ‘long lost relative’ fanfics. But then I went to fanfiction.net, and stumbled upon a very familiar username. The user name seemed really, really familiar for some reason. I clicked on their profile then clicked on a Danny Phantom x Batman crossover of theirs... And would you look at that — It’s a one-shot about Danny and Damian being twins, and I suddenly remembered reading this years ago! THREE OR FOUR YEARS AGO. REPEATEDLY. Holy cannoli. listen, i appreciate that not every movie needs to be a romance and sometimes the story is better without one. but wish was supposed to be a tribute to classic disney, the very first disney feature film was a fairy tale with a romance, the disney renaissance period was (at least partly) built on fairytale romances and romance in general, and the last time WDAS wrote a romance that was a) actually important to the story and b) not a pre-established romance that would obviously remain in a sequel, was with kristoff and anna in frozen (2013). and i just wish disney would vary things a bit more in general! like we finally got a classic ruthless villain again, why can't we have a romance that's not just in the background again too? we went from the renaissance period where every movie had romance as a central part of the story, to now where for some reason none of them can, and idk why it has to be that way. also, just, the concept of a romance between asha, just a regular girl, not a princess and not even so much as the king's apprentice, and the literal star she wished on who came to her in the form of a human boy, sounds extremely interesting and sweet to me and would've worked as a sort of callback to peasant x royal stories like cinderella or beauty and the beast but with its own unique twist! i also personally think that whether he was actually intended to be a love interest or just a friend, star would've been a way cooler character as a shapeshifter in human form.

Seeing discourse about this crop up again in 2024 of all fucking years since Undertale Yellow released so just let me say Playing alternate routes of a game, especially "evil" routes does not equate to the player's actual morality. Leave people be if they don't want to just play the pacifist route and they want to experience everything in the game. Undertale is literally the only game I have seen people complain about going the villain route in. Some of you need to chill and not declare people the scum of the earth for playing a game in a way you didn't because it is ultimately a work of fiction with fictional characters, even if it does have meta elements where it interacts with the player.

so I just finished reading ‘the oleander sword’ by tasha suri. I’m at work, so I finished the book, stared at my laptop for a minute, then came to the bathroom to cry and write this post (yeah, I’m in the bathroom right now. I’ve been crying for five minutes).
I’m crying because reading this book (which is book #2 of suri’s trilogy ‘the burning kingdoms’) has been… cathartic almost. the plot is high fantasy and political unrest, but the setting, the worldbuilding and careful nuances of the story are based on historical india, the country and myths and history I grew up with. somewhere inside me, the young girl who never saw a book that had a character that looked like her is sobbing in grief and gratitude and vindication, because an author like her decided to write this story. and it’s everything.
I’m crying because the relationships in this series are complicated and heartbreaking and human. siblings, friends, lovers, and the tangled webs in between - they’re so beautiful to read about. the pain of betrayal and bittersweetness of love, in a time when nations are at war and the characters are torn between their duty and their heart (an age-old story, the original tragedy). the delicate details that show the madness of corruption, the humanity in even the most twisted of villains, and the pain in hurting those you love so that they can live.
I’m crying because not only does this book speak to my desi heritage, it’s a queer story, setting a princess rebelling against her dictator-emperor of a brother and a temple-elder of a conquered nation of flowers and eldritch worship on a tumultuous path. their bond is fraught because of what they must do to serve their own countries, honour warring with the desire and love for each other in their hearts. a sapphic desi-high fantasy series - that’s something I never thought I would see.
I’m crying because the side m/m romance is pure tragedy and yet, it’s so beautiful it hurts to read. while the main heroines are separated by treachery and prophecy and gods of old, coming back to wage war for their glory, these two boys are separated by something much simpler: death. one dies (for his honour, for the men he leads, for his sister), and the other lives. the other lives to grieve and push forward, and isn’t this the oldest story? someone must always leave first, but we are never prepared, and I was not prepared for this death. because the one who lived had already lost so much, bled out for an empress he is bound to and her brother whom he loved. and he was taken away from him.
I’m crying because I love the world that has been built here, the stories woven and characters that suri has breathed life into. I’m crying because of the story, the pain, and the representation I never thought I’d see. but most of all, I’m crying for the love that this story holds, and the hurt that always follows bliss, because no good thing can ever be felt without unwanted anguish to sweeten these brief, tender moments.

Why exactly is it that people think "old disney villains" that had no redeeming qualities, or fleshed out backstories were better? That does not make them better. In fact, it makes them either less interesting or just has it fall flat.
When I look for a story, I want the villain to be real. To show us the reasons why they came to this path. Why do they do the things they do? What's the motivation behind it? Is there a possibility that I could do the same things in their position?
A villain needs to have layers to be interesting. Good villains should make you think about your own behaviors and motivations and where they can change.
To just have a villain that is pure evil for no reason is only seen from one dimension. One perspective. It may move the story along, but does it add to it?
And, as obvious from the sheer amount of fanfiction exploring the backgrounds and motivations from old villains, people have an inherent curiosity as to the other side of the story.
Every single one of them has their own story, their own motivations, emotions, dreams, wants, needs. It's so.... grr. Don't water them down to "pure evil" when you are not considering them as a person too.
The story changes with the consideration of these things.
