didn't they also fridge Felicia's Day's character at like the peak of her (the actress') popularity? i remember there being some kind of commotion about it at one of the comic con panels, but i was and still am on the fringes of the fandom. so, i'm not entirely sure.

I don't know how popular Felicia Day was at the time, but yeah pretty much. They introduced some last minute villains to make Dean go crazy (for plot reasons and again, Dean is always at the scene of the crime), and one of them killed her offscreen, with Dean and Sam finding her dead and bloody in a bathtub, before the rest of the season is basically devoted to Dean's pain over the fact that she's dead and how Dean reacts to it and what that all means for Dean. She literally just died for no reason other than to advance a plot that didn't even need it because he had a supernatural (heh) reason to go crazy anyway; the only way it could have been more obviously fridging is if she'd literally been in a fridge instead of a bathtub. It did cause a lot of commotion from what I remember, given how classic a case of fridging it was and how there was still so much more to do with the character and how well-liked Charlie was, as well as the show's absolute dearth of female characters anyway (tho she was a canon lesbian so they couldn't ship her with either of the men, which I'm sure made it more easy to kill her off so they couldn't do PG-13 sex scene with Jared or Jensen and Felicia).

Jensen knew he fucked up the second he’d done it but Jared, bless him, played along and they finished the take as well as the shoot in the other direction just fine. Seeing Jared all suited up in fed threads, black suit, white dress shirt and all, he couldn’t help himself. The man looked utterly delicious like that, especially knowing what beast of a leanly muscled body was underneath. 

“If there hadn’t been any wincest rumors yet, you will most certainly have started them with your acting today Ackles.” 

Jensen shrugged his shoulders as they walked back to their trailers, elbows bumping, while the crew set up the next scene. 

“So Dean, you wanna tell me something?” Jared easily slipped into the role of Sam his on-screen character. He held his body differently and dropped his voice into that soothing tone he used on victims that he needed to keep from freaking out on the show.  

“I Jay… come on….” Jensen stuttered out, the change in tack giving him whiplash. 

“Who the fuck is Jay?” Jared exclaimed and grabbed “Dean” by the collar of his shirt and slammed him up against the wall of his trailer. 

“Whoa hey there Sammy cool down. No need to get all huffy about this. Easy mistake heh…” Just as easily Jensen slid into Dean mannerisms and Jared regarded him with silent approval. 

“I saw you checking me out, you literally undressed me with your eyes roaming top to bottom, see something you like? We are brothers Dean, what the fuck.”

“You didn’t seem to mind in the least if the eyefuck you gave me was anything to go by when the cameras weren’t on you.” 

“You talk way too much Dean.” Jared pulled Jensen in close, clashing their lips together, devouring him with a hungry kiss as he went and started tracing small bites down the side of his neck that Jensen pushed into needily. They nearly both fell as they stumbled through the door of Jared’s trailer both focused on the lust-fueled dragging of ties and shirt collars and pulling-off of suit jackets. 

Jensen’s lips were kiss-swollen by the time he tumbled onto Jared’s king-sized bed, suit jacket long gone, shirt ripped open and half off his shoulders as he landed face down, while Jared got working on his belt and slacks.

Jared pulled the belt out of the loops and dropped it on the floor and once undone dragged Jensen’s suit pants and boxers down just low enough to get access to what he was really after. Grabbing one of Jensen’s cheeks in each of his gigantic hands he pulled them apart and dove in with gusto as he opened Jensen up on his tongue, fingers and spit, before grabbing the bottle of lube he kept in his bedside table. 

“Fuck me already Sammy….” Jensen’s voice was whiskey-rough from arousal and he sounded like Dean without even trying to. 

“Yeah, knew you wanted me this way huh big brother,” Jared slicked himself up and drove home in one firm thrust, pinning Jensen down with one hand at the back of his neck and his larger body blanketing Jensen’s lean freckled torso beneath him as he started rolling his hips, increasing the pace as he went until every forward thrust punched a needy groan from Jensen’s lips. Jared could tell how close Jensen was, knew that he could come just like that with the friction of the bedspread against his cock and a good pounding to his prostate. 

Jared delivered as he owned his co-star, let his hand wander up into the short soft, sweaty strands of hair and yanked his head back at just the right moment to feel Jensen go tight around him, his entire body flexing as his climax raced through him. Jared wasn’t far behind with the tight clench and heat of Jensen around him. It’s stupidly easy to have an idea, it’s hell to write and execute it.  Hitchcock wanted Gary Grant to be chased by a crop duster in North by Northwest.  The writers were, “But why? Logically the bad guys can just shoot him from a car.”  Hitchcock didn’t care, he just wanted that scene and writers have to make it happen without applying logic to the story.

So Jensen want to see 3 Johns but not 3 Marys?  To be fair, JDM is a star while Samantha Smith is not, naturally Jensen would capitalize on JDM’s status if he could.

Let’s Talk

Okay..... I feel like it’s my job to set the record straight (it’s not, but I’m gonna do it anyway), so strap in I guess. (I know that we don’t talk about the finale any more but I have to get it out of my system so!)

To anyone..... ANYONE that still thinks that Cas’ confession in 15x18 Despair is anything other than an explicitly romantic confession (all those people that are saying Cas confessed his love for Dean as a brother, as a best friend; I’m looking at you), fuck you and your homophobic heteronormative bullshit.

Time to set the record straight (or gay, heh.)

First, I just need to say that Misha Collins, after the episode aired, on a panel with Richard Speight Jr. (who directed that episode), as well as Mark Sheppard, Ruth Connell and some others, said, and I quote “Castiel tells Dean he loves him and, like, basically makes Destiel canon.” Him saying this means that that’s how he acted the scene. That is how he portrayed the dialogue for the confession. Richard, who, once again, directed that episode, was in that Zoom call, and as the director, he didn’t say anything contradicting that or going against what Misha said either.

Before I go in with dissecting that scene, which I, as well as I’m sure a billion people did, let’s jump back for a second to episode 12x12 Stuck In The Middle With You

Now, in this episode, Castiel thought he was about to die, and in what he thought were his last moments, told Dean, Sam, and Mary that they were family and that he loved them, all of them. This. This was an act of familial love. This was the “we’re family. I love you” that y’all apparently THINK the despair scene was about. The tone for this scene in 12x12 is SO SO different than in 15x18 it’s not even close. So if you’re so desperate for a familial “brotherly love” confession, watch 12x12, you won’t be disappointed.

Okay now that that’s out of the way, let’s move on with taking about the actual scene. My point with reminding everyone about 12x12 is simply because why would Cas’ confession in 15x18 be familial if he already said his familial love piece three years prior. Dean already knows that. That’s not much of a confession if it’s things he already knows...

Okay time for dissection! I’m not going to copy and paste Cas’ confession, bc we’ve all heard it so if you don’t know the specifics of what I’m quoting, it’s on YouTube.

In the beginning of the confession, before Cas goes on about how everything Dean does is for love, Castiel contemplates what he could’ve done to trigger the Empty, when he knows that the one thing he wants is something he knows he can’t have. Now, we’ve heard something akin to this before in the show (6x14 with Lisa, 14x10 with Pamela) both in regards to Dean and both with a meaning of romantic or amorous intent.

Castiel then remarks that happiness is not in the having, it’s in the being. It’s in just saying it. And what does he say? A three minute blurb about why Dean does everything for love. How Dean changed Castiel. How because Dean cared about everyone and the world, so did Cas.

How Cas Loves Him.

Now. All this build up. All this talking. All of this confessing. It’s a love confession. A romantic love confession. Castiel is saying that he is in love with this man, this man who made him care so much when it went against every single ounce of programming. Castiel, who in his last moments alive, sacrificed himself to save the man he loves. Because when you love someone so deeply, you’re willing to do anything for them. Even if that means giving your happiness for them.

Castiel is in love with Dean Winchester.

Now this post is already long as fuck (I apologize) so I’m not going to go into the implications of this approaching the finale, or how the finale was hot garbage because it threw away the most meaningful and psychologically complex relationship and characters in television history, or Dean’s reciprocation, but if y’all want me to make a part two I gladly will.

And to those naysayers that I addressed in the beginning of this very long post: if by this point you’re reading and you still don’t think that Castiel’s confession was written, acted and directed as a confession with romantic intent, you are beyond help and I truly truly am sorry. Maybe rewatch the series and try to pay a little more attention to the Dean and Cas scenes and less attention to idk, Jared’s hair or whatever it is you were watching for the last 12 years.

It's shocking to me (I guess it shouldn't be) how people twist Jensen's comments to give them the worst possible meaning? I saw someone say he was joking about pedophilia with the Jack comment, for example. Like he wouldn't throw up in his mouth if he knew that's how people took a silly Dean-type answer to an incredibly silly question. Do they want to hate him?

Yet Misha can get away with making roofie jokes, can be completely perverted to everyone (including the Queen of England), and just be fine! 

Jensen is constantly under a microscope by Misha, Jared, and J2 stans. Anything he does, they’ll criticize and find something wrong with because they’re just waiting and foaming at the mouth for a chance to shit on him. 

If I was him, I’d distance myself from the fandom and from Jared and Misha because Lord knows they don’t have his back against anything.

I saw the question in question (heh) and thought it was definitely a Dean-type answer. If he’s a pedophile because of that, then everyone who fawns over Jack and writes fic about Jack are pedos too. Checkmate, stans!

I had some fears that 15x19 might have lost some emotional punch given that the vast majority was filmed with this long, unexpected break. But I got none of that, they were very in the moment. Even after just watching 15x18 it didn’t feel like there was a noticeable break. 

The only thing I did wonder was when Sam really said “dawg” with such a Texan drawl to it in this episode heh. I’m wondering if he’s been working on his voice for Walker in the meantime and it just came over Jared. 

That was really such a loving episode in so many ways. I’m in shock. For years I thought the entire show might end exactly as this did here, with Sam and Dean, free, to go on the road and live their life. To Keep On Fighting. With the story open in case they wanted to bring it back.

But the fact we got this level of closure in this episode, and it was not the finale, makes me feel like we’re just about to get the epilogue to the whole thing. There’s more yet to come. New emotional and personal growth for our brave heroes. 

Sam and Dean have come this far, together in the end, always. They’ve stood strong, they’ve battled on. And now they’ve won, they’ve won in every conceivable way. 

So where can they take it from here?

There’s an empty space at the end of this last episode. Sam never mentions Eileen, but you know who does get mentioned? Castiel. 

They’ve drawn this incredible picture by this point, but it’s empty and without colour. they just need to go back in and colour the damn picture.

(This has obviously become such a famous J2-ism, and with good reason! My favorite thing about it is how Jared starts off by saying that his relationship with Jensen is impossible to explain, but then by the end of his answer, in one long sentence, he’s managed to pretty undeniably convey the fact that they are CLEARLY, CLEARLY soulmates who literally cannot be separated from each other.) 💕

I will say that these interviews always make me nostalgic for the earlier days when the Js were so blatant about their much-more-than-platonic relationship in so many ways that it’s a miracle there’s a single person who was around for those years and paying attention who didn’t glue on the old tinhat.)

Did Chuck only recently make it so that a soul that's been to hell can't go to heaven, or is that how it's always been and he made an exception for John and Bobby?

We just don’t know. Isn’t that incredible?

The show has been doing this repeatedly since 14.20, pushing us to question what’s real and what’s Chuck’s whim now.

Just like we saw Jack’s “STOP LYING!” and then everyone stopped lying, I think we’re supposed to recognize this as the sort of thing Chuck has done on a lot of levels of the story, for years. And oftentimes, his explanations for things sound really contrived, you know? They literally lampshaded that fact in 15.02:

Dean: Kevin's not even supposed to be in Hell, okay, so when this is all over, we're gonna send him up in Heaven where he belongs.Belphegor: Yeah, yeah, not gonna happen. Souls cast down to Hell? That's the end of it. Heaven can't take 'em.Sam: That's not true. Our dad made it to Heaven after he was in Hell.Dean: And Bobby Singer.Belphegor: So God made an exception. Didn't He used to like you two? Just saying. Without the big guy... them's the rules.

DIDN’T HE USED TO LIKE YOU TWO?

He did this back at the end of s11, a lot... changed the rules to suit his narrative. Basically everything having to do with him and Amara-- “she’s blocking me,” when we actively saw her searching for him and being unable to find him; telling Dean he should’ve killed her when he had the chance, and then admitting she can’t be killed; telling them he’s been “hands off” forever and then proving everything was his doing... I mean... he’s not a reliable narrator. :’D

Creating the Equalizer gun was pretty much the ultimate example of this-- a weapon that shoots plot devices.

So... I think the real question isn’t whether or not he made up that rule on the spot and it became reality, but what these bits of information tell us about Chuck and his motives and his story overall, you know? 

All of this, I believe, is designed to put us into Dean’s headspace here regarding Chuck, and Dean’s own feelings about the entire world basically being a game rigged against him. We-the-audience are supposed to share Dean’s uncertainty, his total emotional unbalancing at the revelation that Chuck has been so specifically meddling in their lives from the very start. And all these little reminders of how... plastic Chuck’s reality is.

The very next episode gave us a plastic, and yet entirely self-aware of the fact, plot device in Lilith, as Sam and Dean began to realize just how much Chuck might still be meddling in their lives. And then we saw a series of what appear to be “wins” with Eileen’s return, but the episode is bookended by questioning whether or not any of it is actually part of Chuck’s story.

Dean’s expressing his doubts out loud, pretty consistently, but Sam... he keeps stating his feelings on the matter while Jared’s acting is showing us that Sam is gradually growing more uncertain. Since 15.08 left us with Sam having been directly lured into Chuck’s presence (a blatant manipulation by Chuck! Was Sue ever real at all in this episode, or was it always Chuck pretending to be her?). On the other side of things, we have Dean and Cas being told they need to return to Purgatory for a “Leviathan Blossom,” which is something we’ve never heard of before, after *we* have seen Chuck repeatedly reference Purgatory over the season so far. Benny was in one of Sam’s visions sent by Chuck, he specifically referenced the Leviathans when trying to get Becky to agree with him that people like the monsters in his stories, and in 14.20, the Leviathans were the FIRST thing he referenced when telling TFW just how “hands off” he’s been by basically saying it was THEIR idea to create all these terrible scenarios, and not HIS idea and actions entirely. 

Chuck: Listen, you guys know me. I'm hands-off. I built the sandbox -- you play in it. You want to fight Leviathans? Cool. You got that. You want to go up against -- what was it? -- the "British Men of Letters"? Okay. Little weak, but okay. But when things get really bad, like the Apocalypse or the Other Apocalypse, that's when I have to step in.

Chuck may have built the sandbox, but he keeps throwing garbage into it while everyone else is just trying to have a bit of a toes in the sand time, you know? And he consistently invents stuff to both throw into the box AND explain it away and deflect culpability from himself.

And the entire point of the season is sifting through the sand to find the truth.

What comes after SPN for J2? What genre would they want to direct? Jensen thinks comedy is the hardest. He doesn't know if he would ever want to attempt that.

Jared about directing: I said no not never

JA: I hope you guys will help us keep Sam and Dean alive forever.

Jared's microphone keeps turning off and he goes "I think it's probably Misha. I think it's Misha.

Jared would feel more comfortable directing sci-fi. It's more formulaic.

Jensen would like to direct action adventure things.

Jensen hasn't planned what he wants to do after SPN. He's going to see where the wind takes him. He never was a type of guy to know exactly what he wants to do.

Jensen wants to bring some of our past writers back for s15.

J2 talked with Andrew and Bob at the end of s14 amd Jensen mentioned a few things he would like to see. He said that the current writers would be pissed off 😂

What storyline would you like to develop? JA: Bringing some of the old writers back. Bringing people back who have helped us get to where we are. I think we may do some of that.

Getting old writers would be hard because they are so busy, but they are still family.

He thinks they are teed up to do some of it, if they are available and it is logistical. If it's capable. There is no animosity - they would all love to come back.

Someone yelled "what about Crowley?" JA: He's not a writer. But sure we'd love Sheppard to come back and do an episode. And Robbie.

Jared sticks hand into a mouth (it's a thingy on stage 😂): I enjoy Misha's company.

Jensen is apprehensive about putting his hand in the Mouth of Truth.

Now he is doing it. You say sth and it bites you if you lie. "This will be the 10th and final Jibcon." It bit him. "I don't like that shit."

How would Sam and Dean want SPN to end? Jared doesn't want the characters to know they are winding down. They always do what they have to in order to keep fighting.

Jared called himself a Slytherin.

Jensen wants to go back to season 1. Bo angels, no demons. Everyone goes back to heaven and hell. It goes back to just monsters. JP: So no Misha. *crowd boos* JA: Cas can stay.

They want to teach the next generation of hunters. But he doesn't think it will happen.

Jared is talking about their families.

If the Pearl from episode 300 existed, what would it gave J2? Jared hopes the people around him would know how much they mean to him. Jensen hopes everyone would know and understand what true happiness is. We would solve a lot of problems in the world.

Funny pet stories? JA: we have 1 dog now, we had to give Oscar to Gino. Icarus is 13 years old and he is still chasing squirrels and birds like he is 2. But no funny stories. He's just part of the family. He's Jensen's buddy.

Jared got a new dog. His funny animal stories relate to him using them as a cover up for why a room might smell funny.

January 20 we have a new German Shepard pup named Coda, had to say goodbye to our 16 year old 😭

What have J2 learned from each other? A ton of things. They have experienced.a lot of thing together. JA: There is no one else on this earth who understands what my life is like over the last 14 years more than he does.

I’ve been reading lol-jackles blog and he has a specific anti Jensen ackles tag. I am a fan of Jensen’s but not enough to where I would get offended if someone had a different opinion of him, than me. One thing he said is that Jensen has been playing a version of dean Winchester as early as days of our lives. I’ve never watch his performance in it but he’s not wrong. J has been playing a version of dean since dark angel. Devour and my bloody Valentine were all version of dean. 1/2

Yeah, dude! We’re on the same page, here. it’s kind of like how Nirvana was in the same market as Courtney Love’s band, Hole, before Nirvana exploded. They were peers in competition with one another, but then boom, Nirvana was the historic hit. Once Nirvana was a household name, people labeled Courtney as a groupie, and then they hated her for being Kurt’s wife, and now they make up conspiracies about her to this day. But Hole was a band unto themselves, and both Cobain and Love had similar working class/abusive home backgrounds, and they had similar interests (like uh, addiction. yikes. but the analogy still stands lmao)

I think Jensen was still looking for a role and then with covid shutting everything down he probably lost a lot of financial investments, too (and not just the brewery!)

That’s why JDM announced that the Ackles will be on the AMC show, but hasn’t mentioned Jared. The point of the show is to give actors a way to promote and “work from home” a bit. Jared’s Walker reboot was set to go “straight to series” so it’s likely that it will still happen. Jared also has more financial stability even if he wasn’t locked into a leading role already.

That is also probably why the Ackles haven’t done a big charity donation yet. They either will announce something on the morgan show, or they’re holding off because they’re financially unstable right now. (Jensen isn’t even as inclined toward big donations as Jared anyway, but if you’re reading lol-jackles then you probably know alll about that. heh.)

Also, just remembered something! Danneel’s character in Ten Inch Hero was a subversion of the “bimbo” trope, and Jensen’s character was a subversion of the “manchild” trope. Interesting, isn’t it?

I've seen folks talking about the reunion between Dean and Cas and i just remembered something teased to us about Sam (Jared) lying unconscious in a bed with Cas (Misha) in the same room (=shenanigans, heh). 

With the still unresolved emotional/romantic tension between Dean and Cas (Dean still needs to use his words but he needs time first and foremost) I can see Cas returning to try and help heal Sam's wound from The Equalizer (with observation, research, his general Angelic and eons-old knowledge, and maybe some mind-reading/sensing with thanks to his dwindling powers) and I can see that coming about one of (5) ways: 

Sam contacts him (text, phonecall, voicemail, prayer, email..) saying something is wrong/has changed with his wound/health (ie. maybe he wants Cas to get in his head/soul and see what's going on with the damage/side effects) 

Cas encounters someone who tips him off about adverse effects of The Equaliser (ie. Amara or maybe Anael) or maybe they just mention that Chuck is indeed wounded/also losing his powers (if it's Anael she's probably in a similar boat to Cas with "failing" powers) and this leads Cas to believe Sam may be dying or is being changed by the wound 

Cas encounters Chuck and the promises of a deal ensue (ie. Cas sees Chuck is hurt, Chuck asks for his help and in return promises to save Sam and bring Jack back from The Empty afterwards < not gonna happen, but desperate times call for lies and empty promises, but besides which there's probably no lore on that gun so any kernel of truth Cas can gleam from Chuck's manipulation is reason to listen) 

Something happens that makes Cas realise something and prompts him to go check on Sam (something to do with his powers or Heaven, idk)

Dean contacts him (curt, emotionally-restrained, text or voicemail) 

A DeanCas reunion seems to be coming our way that comes before the two of them get to fully resolve their issues/build new bridges (Dean needs his chance to spill his heart). 

Cas returns temporarily because of his love for Sam. 

No matter what's broken between him and Dean, Cas will endure the tension in order to try and help his friend, because no matter what Dean has said or done Cas still considers both of them family (he always will) and even if they no longer live or hunt together he will do what he can to help those he loves. 

I'm looking forward to this, to Cas pointedly being there for Sam and only Sam. I'm curious to see what the writers do with Dean's mood, his temperament, whether they keep all 3 of them in the bunker or send Dean off somewhere to avoid a premature emotional reunion with Cas (Dean still needs to sort out his crap for a real one to happen, [re:resolve the romantic tension]) or avoid letting Dean put his foot in his mouth again. 

I wonder whether Cas will get a chance to speak face-to-face with Sam and whether they'll talk about the reasons he left, whether Sam will understand about Dean but try to reassure Cas that he doesn't blame him and wants him to stay. 

I wonder how Cas will leave afterwards: will he slip out the door without a Goodbye to Dean? I prefer this to another painful interaction between the two of them, unless Dean has had time by now to come to terms with Cas leaving and manages to hold any cruel or bitter words back as Cas takes his leave from both of them. 

Perhaps Cas will leave on a mission of sorts, to seek out Chuck or Amara or something to help Sam. I just hope if that's the case they do it in a way that doesn't negate the autonomy he's gained - he's not an errand boy, not a tool. He finally freed himself from a toxic emotional situation, as well as being free of Chuck's manipulations, and to resort to treating him like an expendable ally once again will be a slap in the face. Let Cas voice and choose to go off in search of answers, let him go willing and free and with no insinuation that he will stay once he's returned again, like he's an immovable limb of Team Free Will one that has been lopped off in the past.

Don't undo the emotional progress he's made.

HOLY HOTNESS, BATMAN!! TEDTalk!Sam has some control issues and likes to exert most of them over the reader. In public. I don’t know if this will ever take a turn for the soft and romantic, but even if it doesn’t, this story is STEAMING!!

I wasn’t sure if I could really get into a WWII AU since I’m not much of a history buff, then I read the first chapter and nearly busted! Jamie Blum, only sister in a family of brothers, parents long since dead, decides to follow her brothers when they all go off to war. But instead of becoming a nurse, she cuts off her hair, puts on her brother’s clothes, and goes to fight under the command of Lt. Dean Winchester. POV switches between the two, AND I LOVE IT. This is a must read!!

Splintered Flames, Burning Dreamer by @thedevilinthedetails 

Part 1 of this is your typical ABO fuck-or-die scenario, with a good amount of angst layered into it. Part 2, however, takes that angst, multiplies it, and stabs you right in the heart with it. Then, just when you think you’re done, it rips your heart right out and stomps on it. A lot. SO GOOD!!!!

As with the BFAs, these are not actual awards! This system is set up so everyone in the pond has a chance to share the love and promote a fic/author that has grabbed your attention. The more people that participate, and the more everyone remembers to submit their own fics after posting, the better this will be :D
