This one’s for the 2 whole other ILL BONE fans out there. If you’re a fan of post-punk, I definitely recommend you give this album (死者/Shisha) a listen as it’s one of my favorites of all time and is criminally underrated. ★彡

*These lines I’m really not so sure about. Even in the live vs. the recording he seems to be singing something different, but either way it’s hard to make out (T_T). If you think you know what he’s saying instead, lmk!

And now for something completely different... I'm still translating songs from time to time. The song, japanese lyrics (source) and a translation by me are below.

Japanese: 闘いは今まさに��の火蓋を切って落とす 黄金の民は何も信じられない 素足には血が滲み　身体からは死にゆく者の匂いがした 永遠の愛を勝ち取る闘い

罪深き者の穢れを 隣人の血で贖えば お前の神は遠く彼方へ

焦燥は日毎濃く暗い影を落としてゆく 黄金の民は何も信じられない ステンドグラスに刻み込まれた約束は 奇跡の待つ墓標の群れ

「堕ちてしまえば　再び堕ちることはないだろう あなたの優しい歌が　私を現実に引き戻す 神が天上から　手を垂れたところで　誰を救えるというのか この濁った地上で…」 English: The fight ended as soon as it's started. The Golden people do not believe in anything. With bloodied feet and smelling of dying, The fight to win over eternal love.

If you atone for the impurity of the deeply sinful By spilling the blood of your neighbor Your God will stray away…

My unease falls further into thick darkness every day. The Golden people do not believe in anything. A promise etched onto stained glass Is a miraculous clustering of headstones.

Swept away by the blood of the sacrifice That breathed its last breath upon the dark sacred land, Your God is fading away.

The water gently Engulfs my body. My crying face Morphs into Cosmos.

"You can't fall again once you've fallen once. Your gentle song pulls me back to reality. If God outstretched his hand from the skies, who could he save In this corrupted land…"

Commentary: I'm pretty sure 黄金の民/the golden people are the japanese (most likely from Marco Polo referring to Japan as "Zipangu, the Land of Gold") => I'm pretty sure the song is about christian missionaries in Japan. This is pure interpretation, though. By the way, the recording in the video is a re-recording, the original song is from 1985. It's not very different, but here's the original 1985 recording.
