It has been years, arguably decades, since Republicans stopped worrying about openly displaying hypocrisy. Republicans have no shame but they can be trolled.
Eric Swalwell Slams Jim Jordan With Killer Troll During Garland Hearing
Representative Eric Swalwell called out Jim Jordan on Wednesday for continuing to evade a subpoena to testify before the House January 6 investigative committee. The House Judiciary Committee, which Jordan chairs, held a hearing on the supposed weaponization of the federal government. At one point, Representative Thomas Massie accused Attorney General Merrick Garland of being in contempt of Congress for declining to comment on ongoing investigations into Hunter Biden. Swalwell was quick to hit back. “That is quite rich, because the guy who’s leaving the hearing room right now, Mr. Jordan, is about 500 days into evading his subpoena,” Swalwell said, displaying a countdown clock on a tablet as he spoke. Jordan had gotten up and was walking out of the room. “If we’re going to talk about contempt of Congress, let’s get real,” Swalwell continued. “Are you serious that Jim Jordan, a witness to one of the greatest crimes ever committed in America, a crime where more prosecutions have occurred than any crime committed in America, refuses to help his country, and we’re going to get lectured about subpoena compliance and contempt of Congress?” The January 6 investigative committee subpoenaed Jordan in December 2021 to discuss messages he sent to Donald Trump ahead of the insurrection. Jordan had also sent messages to Trump’s legal team and other people involved in planning the January 6 rally or objecting to the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential victory. Despite insisting in November that year he had “nothing to hide,” Jordan refused to cooperate with the subpoena.
BTW, that's Gym Jordan to us.

Reading this January 6th Committee testimony, and Patrick Casey can't remember if he livestreamed on January 5th, but I can lol.
Q: Did you live-stream on January 6th? Casey: I don’t recall. Q: Okay. How about the days prior to January 6th? Casey: It’s — pardon me on second. I think I probably did, but it was well over a year ago and it’s hard to remember every night that I did or didn’t live-stream. Q: So were any of those live-streams saved and posted elsewhere during, let’s say, January 1st through January 7th, to the extent that they exist? Casey: Not to my knowledge

Daily Comic Journal: July 21, 2022: "Don't Believe Your Lying Eyes?"
I don’t know what’s more disturbing or frustrating. The fact that as of today, those responsible for directing  the mob to attack the Capitol are no closer to facing consequences for it, or that because all of the lies told about that day, that there are many, many people in this country that don’t believe it actually happened.

shaunking As you no doubt saw - conservative Brazilian supporters of their recently ousted President, Jair Bolsonaro, inspired by the January 6th insurrection 2 years ago in the United States, just attempted to take over the Congress, Supreme Court, and Presidential Palace in the Capitol of Brazil.
Almost 2 years to the day, under almost identical circumstances, these conservatives attempted and failed the same foolishness that we saw right here in the US. And here's the thing - it looked so similar, because they were literally coached by American conservatives. And several things need to happen immediately.
Jair Bolsonaro, who is an open bigot, should be deported/extradited BACK to Brazil. The man is literally hiding out in Florida - which is simultaneously wild and makes perfect sense at the same time. Of course he would travel to the home state of Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis to hide. But the United States has an extradition treaty with Brazil and should send him right back home to face the consequences for what he caused.
Secondly, an immediate investigation needs to be launched into the American conservatives that coached Brazilian conservatives through all of this. They openly admit, publicly and privately, that they've been telling Brazilians exactly what to do to undermine faith in their elections and in their democracy. And Brazil should charge them - so that they can also face the consequences for what they just caused.
Let me unpack and explain it all.

THE JAN. 6 committee announced on Monday that it will refer former President Donald Trump for criminal charges for his role in the attack on the Capitol as Congress was certifying the 2020 election.
The referral, which was expected, came during the committee’s final meeting before releasing the final report on its investigation into the events of Jan. 6, 2021 and the larger effort to keep Trump in office despite losing handily to Joe Biden. The committee has said it will release the report on Wednesday.
Congress asking the Justice Department to criminally charge a former president is a historic move that speaks to the magnitude of the evidence the committee has gathered against Trump, who they have placed at the center of the scheme to overturn the election. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) laid out the details of the referrals, noting that the committee is seeking charges be brought against Trump for obstructing an official proceeding; conspiracy to defraud the United States government; knowingly and willingly making a false statement to the federal government; and inciting, assisting, or engaging in insurrection.

« Do you support democracy, or do you not support democracy?
That is the one issue on the ballot. Vote accordingly. »
— Adam Kinzinger, former congressman and member of the House January 6th Committee, in conversation Tuesday on NPR's Fresh Air via WHYY in Philadelphia.
Listen to the entire 44-minute conversation here.
Rep. Kinzinger's book "Renegade" is just out.
I agree with him on 2024. Democracy, both in the US and internationally, is THE essential issue in elections at all levels in the US next year.
