Marauders Hot Take: James is actually Sirius's mom
Not McGonagall, not Euphemia, not any other character which people believe they act as a mother figure in Sirius's life.
It's James, it was always James

gone - January 9th - background jegulus, a touch of wolfstar, black brothers - tw: Walburga Black's A+ parenting - @black-brothers-microfic - word count: 286
“Tell me where he is,” Walburga growled, voice so low and threatening Sirius had trouble standing his ground. His knees felt shaky and weak, his palms sweaty, his head hazy. He’d never imagined he’d have to face his mother again, let alone so soon. “Now. Or I’ll-”
But he interrupted, summoning all his courage, enraged at the threat. “You can’t do anything to me. To either of us. We’re both of-age,” Sirius said, trying to sound stronger and more certain than he felt. “You have no power now, Mother. Deal with it.”
Walburga’s unadulterated fury was palpable. Her eyes bulged, her mouth popped open, her jaw clenched, and Sirius swore he saw sparks fly from her fingertips. But he spoke again before Walburga could process his words.
“Plus. I don’t know where he is. And I wouldn’t tell you if I did.”
With that, the old witch lunged forward, grasping Sirius’s collar, causing him to let out a little gasp of fear. “I don’t know whose son you are, but you aren’t mine any longer.”
But somehow, a small spell of bravery boiled within Sirius’s chest, giving him strength. “I never was,” he spat, yanking himself back. “Now leave my house before my parents call the Aurors.”
And with that, he stormed back inside, adrenaline the only thing keeping him upright.
It was only as he walked into the kitchen and collapsed into a chair that he looked over to Regulus, who was hiding his face in James’s chest while James kept his arms tight around the younger boy, whispering calming, loving words into his ear.
“She’s gone, Reg,” Sirius announced tiredly.
And then he turned to Euphemia and Monty, who pulled him into a hug.

The house was empty, her footsteps could be heard from across the property. Y/N’s parents had left her home alone for a “much needed vacation.” She knew what they were really doing.
They’d asked her before to join, she declined. They then grounded her, taking away her wand and blocking the Floo so that she was stuck in her prison. Her father had been friends with ‘Voldemort’ during their time at Hogwarts, and her mother did anything her father said. The perfect wife.
Y/N vowed she would never be like her mother. Not that she blamed her; standing up to her father took a whole other level of courage neither of them possessed.
Since her parents' departure, she’d been writing letters to Regulus, planning his escape from 12 Grimmauld Place. He had also tired of Walburga’s antics, and she couldn’t blame him.
If she was being honest, it was surprising how long he stayed, but Y/N was proud regardless. At first, she'd offered her home as his new residence but quickly realized her parents would sell him out without thinking twice. Then she came to a revolution so simple that she was shocked she hadn’t thought of it first.
Why separate siblings?
Owling James Potter was something she never thought she would have to do. It’s not that they weren’t friends, quite the opposite, but they saved their talking for when they were back at Hogwarts. She got a howler back from James (and Sirius) immediately, expressing their eagerness to house him, and from Sirius, his gratitude for helping his little brother.
The plan began August 25th, at Midnight. Regulus ensured his parents were asleep, jumping out of the window and onto his broom. He leviated his trunk behind him, and after meeting up with Y/N at her home, flew the rest of the way together to Potter Manor. Minutes into their flight, a massive storm hit them.
Y/N groaned, yelling over the thunder. “Merlin, this is dismal!”
Tumblr media
They practically dropped to the ground, sighing in relief. Regulus was fine, but Y/N, who was not a quidditch player by any means, was not used to flying for long periods of time.
When Regulus brought that up before their flight, she laughed. “I’d do anything for you, Reg, you know that.”
They approached the red door (fitting, Y/N thought, for the most obnoxious Gryffindor she’d ever known.) She laughed. Poor Mrs.Potter, she must have found James and his father's bold nature tiring, especially being the only Slytherin in the house. They hadn’t even knocked before it cracked open, Euphemia standing on the other side, sporting a beautifully elegant smile.
“Hello dears. Come in, the storm must have caught you.”
Y/N nodded. “Hardly.”
Fleamont stood behind his wife, smirking. “Hardly? You’re positively drenched.” He reached grabbing Regulus’s things. “Thank you for escorting Regulus, Ms.Baudelaire.”
“It’s not a problem, really. He’s my best friend. I’d-”
A pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist, lifting her off the ground. “Y/N/N!!!” He squeezed my waist. “Godric, it’s good to see you.” He leaned down, whispering in her ear. “You’re looking great.”
She blushed, playfully hitting at his chest before giving up and hugging him back. Sirius and Regulus looking at each other knowingly. The two sixth years had been dancing around their feelings for years, and practically everyone in school knew they were destined.
“It’s nice to see you too, Jamie.”
James released his hold, eyebrows furrowed at the fact that she was soaking wet. “Why are your clothes soaked through?”
She laughed, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. “It’s a funny story, really.”
Sirius interrupted. “Your clever little girlfriend-”
She sighed, glaring at the boy. “I’m not his girlfriend.”
“Whatever. Your not-girlfriend had the clever idea of flying all the way here in the rain.”
James looked back at the girl, who was now staring anywhere but him. “Is that true?”
“I-” Y/N looked to Regulus for help, who simply shrugged. She glared, he was so unhelpful sometimes. “Yes?”
James scoffed, crossing his arms. “That’s rather irresponsible of you, don’t you think?”
She raised her eyebrows, laughing. “Oh, that's hilarious. You’re such a hypocrite, James.”
“Ask to use my floo next time instead of putting your life in danger.”
“I have an honest question for you, Potter. Do you think before you talk? Merlin, I couldn’t use the floo! Can anyone tell me why?” She looked around the room. “Hm?”
Regulus murmured. “Because the floo can be traced.”
“Thank you, Regulus.” She looked back at James with a look of satisfaction. “Because it can be traced. I thought this through James, but the next time my best friend is running away, I’ll be sure to let you know my every move.” She scoffed, mumbling. “I didn’t realize you were my handler.”
He sighed, reaching out. “I didn’t mean it like that.”
She ducked out of his way and quickly addressed his parents. “Mr. and Mrs. Potter, thank you for taking Regulus into your home. I hope I can visit soon.”
Euphemia nodded. “Anytime, my dear.”
Fleamont looked outside. “If you would like, you could stay the night. The storm is getting rather out of hand.”
Y/N shook my head. “My parents return tomorrow. I have to make it look like I’ve been in the house before they get back. Cleaning and such.” She smiled softly. “But thank you.” She turned to Regulus, winking. “Don’t get into any trouble while I’m gone.”
He rolled his eyes, hugging her tightly. “How can I, you’re taking it all with you.”
She laughed, her eyes watering. “Be safe Reggie.”
“You too Y/N/N.”
She nodded toward Sirius. “Black.”
“Baudelaire. Thank you for taking care of my little brother. He needed a good influence in his life.”
“I think you’ll do just fine.” He smirked, and she muttered. “For the most part.” Y/N turned to James last, sarcasm dripping from her voice. “Am I permitted to go?”
She didn’t wait for a response, walking out of the front door and mounting her broom. The door whipped open, and James practically fell out. open, and James ran out.
“What do you want, Potter?” Y/N fought the urge to roll her eyes.
“You know that’s not what I meant.”
“Oh, really? Then what did you mean by it? Because it sounded like I need to run everything by you.”
“You know that I worry about you. I-” He paused. “You know I care about you. Your safety is important to me.”
She sighed, leaning towards him.
“Thanks, James, but I can take care of myself.” She flew higher, grinning. “See you at school!”
Tumblr media
It was odd, being friends with the man she’d had a crush on since second year. She had barely been able to admit it to herself, let alone Pandora and Regulus. They’d hung out much more than normal, getting lunch whenever they had free time. Alice Longbottom practically flew done the hall, grabbing Y/N by the shoulders.
“Have you heard?”
She laughed. “Heard what, Alice?”
She squealed. “There’s going to be a ball!”
Y/N laughed again. “You mean the ball that happens at the same time every year?”
“Yes, but there’s a twist.” She smiled. “Sixths years are invited!”
“Rowena! Are you serious? When?”
James laughed. “You just found this out? We’ve known about this since May when we snuck into Minnie’s office.”
Y/N rolled my eyes, glaring playfully at the boy. “Well, not everyone can break the school rules whenever they please, James.”
Alice hummed in agreement, walking away while muttering something about how she had to tell Frank.
Y/N smiled longingly. “Those two are made for each other.”
James looked down at her, his cheeks flushing. “Yeah, they are.” He cleared his throat. “Have any idea who’ll ask you?”
“No idea. I think I’ll go alone. Stag, if you will.”
“Very funny.” He nudged her. “But that’s rubbish. Anyone would be lucky to have you. You’re gorgeous.”
Y/N looked up at him, eyes wide. “Really?”
He gulped. “Yeah. Of course.”
Her jaw was weak as she stared at him. A student brushed past her, and she realized that they were in public, directly in front of the Great Hall. “We better get to lunch, or Sirius will eat our food.”
James laughed. “Of course, right as always.” He held his arm out. “After you.”
She giggled, throwing her head back. “Why thank you.”
Tumblr media
Weeks had gone by, and James still hadn’t asked her. The sixth years decided to meet in the library and study together for an upcoming potions exam, when the topic of the ball came up yet again. Y/N grew quiet, literally burying her face inside her book.
Alice leaned forward, whispering. “So James, who are you taking to the ball?”
James groaned. “I uh..” he trailed off, “I don’t know. I might ask…” Y/N looked up, immediately making eye contact with him. Shit. “I might ask Evans.”
The table froze as Lily walked up behind him. She tilted her head. “What about Evans?”
James cleared his throat, turning around sheepishly. “Evans. Hi. I- Do you want to go to the ball with me?”
Lily’s eyes widened, and she looked over at Y/N, Sirius, and Remus. The Ravenclaw’s eyes watered, but she smiled all the same. He wasn’t hers, and she knew that Lily had liked James at one point. Y/N didn’t want to take that away from her, seeing what it would be like to date him. She looked back at James hesitantly, nodding. “Sure. I’d love to.”
Y/N harshly wiped away the tears, standing up. Her chair scratched against the floor, and the whole of the study hall looked over. She smiled, waving. “I’m finished. So I’m just-” She hiccuped, slapping a hand over her mouth. “I- I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
James looked at her sadly, but Y/N couldn’t find it in her to care. “I’m-” She stalked off toward McGonagall, handing her her papers.
The older witch whispered, placing a comforting hand on the girl’s shoulder. “Ms. Baudelaire, are you alright?”
She smiled, nodding. “Of course, Professor. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Spinning on her heels, she walked past her friends without a second look. The door seemed to be a thousand miles away, and she started running toward it. The hall made her let out a sigh of relief, and she dropped to the floor, staring blankly.
Sirius crouched down. “You alright Baudelaire?”
Remus scoffed. “She’s obviously not fine, Pads.”
“Well I was just-”
Y/N smiled. “It’s alright Remus. He was just being nice.”
Sirius nodded, smirking at the werewolf. “Yeah, Remus.” He sat beside her and sighed. “He’s a right prat, Y/N. If he can’t see how mad you are about him, or how mad he is about you, then he’s blind.” He murmured. “Technically he is legally blind.”
Remus nodded in agreement. “Why don’t you just go with a group of friends? That would be… fun.”
Regulus stood beside Remus, staring sympathetically. Y/N smiled. “Do you and Dora want to make it a party?”
Regulus’s eyes widened, and he mumbled. “I- I actually invited her as my date.”
She laughed, slapping a hand over her mouth. “I’m sorry, it’s not funny. That’s-” She smiled kindly. “That’s really great, Reggie.”
“You can still come with us if you want.”
“No thanks, Reg.” She shook her head. “I don’t think I’ll go.”
Sirius smirked, standing up and extending a hand. “Y/N Beatrice Bauldeaire, will you go to the ball with me?”
Y/N glared. “Sirius don’t ask me because you feel badly.”
He scoffed. “Please, Baudelaire. You’re hot, I’m hot. It makes sense.”
“I-” She tilted her head, blushing from the compliment. “That’s a fair point.” She took his hand, standing up. “Thank you, Sirius.”
“I’m lucky to have you.”
Her heart stopped. “Anyone would be lucky to have you. You’re gorgeous.”
James’s messy hair peaked out of the study hall, walking over to the four students. He looked shy, which was unbeffiting of him. She felt satisfied, he should feel bad. “Alright?”
Y/N stared at the ground, nodding. “Fine.”
He nodded back. “Good.”
She looked up, glaring at him. “More than fine. I’m going with Sirius to the ball.”
James’s eyebrows rose. “Padfoot? And you? Is this a joke?”
She tilted her head. “Where’s the joke? Sirius is hot; I’m hot. And better yet…” She walked up to him, crossing her arms. “He knows what he wants.”
Sirius laughed, falling against the wall. Remus covered his smirk with his hand.
“Merlin. Okay.” He smiled bitterly. “Well, have fun, Baudelaire. I’ll see you at the ball.”
“See you.” She looked back at her friends, waving, and walking back to Ravenclaw Tower.
James turned to his best friends, thoroughly confused. “What is wrong with her?”
Remus rolled his eyes. “You are oblivious, Prongs.”
Sirius pushed off the wall, nodding. “You’re screwed.”
Tumblr media
The girls decided to all get ready together, crowding into the Gryffindor girl’s dorm.
Alice was going with Frank, (obviously), Mary with Amos Diggory, Marlene with Dorcas, Pandora with Regulus, and Lily with James (she was still apologizing.) Their dresses were all from Madam Malkin’s, customized to their personalities and, as Marlene said, overall aura.
She wasn’t wrong. Marlene’s dress matched her perfectly, a sparkly black gown with a high slit and a deep v neck, she looked like she was the moon, which was perfect, considering that Dorcas was the definition of the sun.
Lily chose green, Alice chose pink, Mary chose yellow, Pandora chose blue, and Y/N chose a cream dress with flower detailing. They looked like princesses.
The rest of the girls left soon after they finished getting ready, but Y/N lingered. Sometimes, she wished she had just said no to Sirius, and stayed in her room, sleeping through the night instead of dancing. Yet here she was, walking down the Gryffindor steps and holding her breath when she looked down at Sirius.
“You look gorgeous.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “Potter.”
He laughed. “Back to Potter now?”
She didn’t even dignify him with a response, turning to Sirius. “Ready to go?”
He nodded, winking. “After you, my lady.”
She grinned, smacking his arm. “Shut it.”
The ballroom was exquisite, covered with freshly bloomed flowers, and golden and silver trees. The floor was white marble, and the band’s instruments were mirroring the trees, also being gold and silver. Y/N leaned her head on Sirius’s shoulder, mumbling. “It’s gorgeous.”
“It is.” She followed his gaze, smiling.
“Go talk to him, Sirius.”
“Really?” He looked down. “And leave you here?”
“Well, I didn’t say all night. This is a ball you know. I expect to dance.”
He laughed. “Why have we only just become friends?”
She rolled her eyes. “I have no idea. Now go.” She walked over to the punch, taking a glass before sitting beside Lily. “And how is your evening?”
“Potter will not stop talking about you and Sirius.” The redhead complained.
“I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m sorry.”
“Lily…”
“I should have never said yes. It was-”
“Lily, you are not the one who needs to apoligize.” Y/N laid a hand over hers. “You’re a good friend.”
James’s unruly hair came into view, and she stood, smiling once more at the redhead. “Have fun. I’ll be dancing.”
Tumblr media
The ball had been raging for hours, and Y/N had spent most of her time dancing with 3/4th’s of the Marauders. Her legs were aching, and she walked away, grabbing another glass of punch and sitting down, leaning her head back. Rowena, she thought, how do they do it? Some of her classmates hadn’t left the dance floor the entirety of the dance. It was heartwarming, she’d decided, seeing all her friends having fun. Sirius offered his hand to Remus, and Regulus was currently being led by Pandora, who was giggling at how red he was. A hand grasped her shoulder, and she tensed, tightening her hold on her wand.
“Woah, Baudelaire. It’s just me.”
“Oh.” She didn’t bother looking at him. “Hello, Potter.”
She could feel the eye roll. “Merlin Y/N/N. Give it up already. What did I even do to-”
Y/N whipped around, scoffing. “Oh I don’t know! I just thought you would ask me to dance. Stupid of me to assume.”
James was bright red. “I’m sorry Y/N/N. I didn’t know if you wanted to- you know.”
“I actually don’t know.”
“I didn’t know if you wanted to go with me. I thought you’d want to go with Regulus.”
“I feel you need a better radar of who likes who, James.” She sighed. “I-” She smiled. “It’s in the past.”
“Would you like to dance then?” He held his arm out. “I believe this song is one of your favorites.”
She grinned, looking over in shock at the band. “I don’t remember telling you that I liked this song, James.” She whipped back toward him, squinting. “How did you know?”
“I may or may not have been under my cloak when I passed you talking to Remus.” He paused, tilting his head curiously. “You tell Remus a lot.”
“Fantastic observation James.” She stood up, putting her hand in his. “Are we going to dance or-”
“After you.”
She rested her head on his chest, swaying to the music. He looked down, humming. “You know you look really beautiful tonight.” James spun her quickly, her hands landing on his chest. “You took my breath away.”
She threw her head back in laughter, not caring he could definitely tell she was blushing. “That’s rather cliche of you, Potter.”
He smiled. “Yes, it is. But it worked, didn’t it?” He leaned down, whispering in her ear. “You’re smiling.”
“I’m always smiling.” She glared. “You’re not the exception.”
“Oh?” He raised an eyebrow. “That hurts, love.”
“Don’t-” She stopped. “I lied.” She whispered. “You make me smile more than I should.”
“I think,” he leaned down. “I want to kiss you.”
“James.” Y/N scolded. “Surely your date would be disappointed?”
“Who do you think encouraged me dance with you?”
“I don’t want to hurt her…” She mumbled. “But I really want to kiss you.”
“Then do it.” He smirked. “Don’t be shy, love. I’m right here.”

Line That Leads To You
Pairing: Sirius Black x Fem! Reader AU: Soulmate AU CW: Language, Genre: Angst with a happy ending (don't worry guys) Summary: You make Sirius realize that having a soulmate isn’t all that bad— that he too, will have his happily ever after.
Note: One of my favorite tropes to write, soulmate AUs! Sirius just needs love and affirmation. I love writing for this! Enjoy! Picture is from pinterest, credits to the owner!
Tumblr media
You know, Sirius never really believed in those pesky soulmates stuff. It irks him to no end, and makes his head hurt.
The topic makes him snappy, bitter, and it leaves him feeling angry. To whom? The world— the one who’s responsible for everything that has to do with soulmates. He thinks it is a bunch of bollocks. It’s a pathetic little concept that everyone seems to be too invested in.
Sirius would be very much happy to tell you it doesn’t really end with a happily-ever-after.
“I’m telling you, Prongs. It’s just a bunch of crap.” Sirius tells James one time at the drawing room in the Potter Manor. James shakes his head, disagreeing with his best mate.
“It isn’t always like Walburga and Orion, Pads.” James gently tells him, eyes swimming with empathy for Sirius. “Just look at me, Lily and I are together, finally.” Sirius can’t help but scoff, shaking his head in a disagreeing manner.
“That’s because you were already pathetically in love with her before you even knew she was the one, Prongs. Same thing for Lily, but she was quite stubborn trying to deny what she felt about you. You guys are actually made for each other.” James lets out a laugh, the memories resurfacing making a love-struck smile appear on his face (Sirius gave him a disgusted look)
“That’s what soulmates are, Pads. You’re supposed to complete each other, balance the other person out” He pursed his lips and sighed, there’s no way Prongs could understand his opinion on the matter.
Complete each other, huh?
Then can someone give him a reasonable excuse on why his parents broke each other? One descended into madness; the other doesn’t really seem to care as long as the noble house of Black lineage will continue.
Sirius bites his bottom lip, deep in thought as he stares at his pinky, willing the connection to be seen; a red string that was tied into a bow that leads to Merlin-knows-where. It serves as a connection; the string that he and only his soulmate can see whenever they want. He tugs on it curiously, awaiting any reaction with bated breath. He almost scrambled away when he felt the other end also tug it. Sirius was utterly terrified, a shiver crawled up to his system, it’s foreign feeling for the Black’s eldest son. It made everything feel too real. A fact that he desperately tries to deny.
That night, before they returned to Hogwarts as sixth year students was the last time he ever willed to see the annoying little string in his pinky, not caring if his supposed other half was finding him or already found him.
Maybe it had to do with his twisted upbringing. He saw how his father cut the string tying him to their mother, the purple string that bound them together turning gray and withering away.
He saw how Regulus flinched, no one should’ve seen a scene like that, but they did. Someone severing their connection to someone who should’ve been with them through better or for worse, the one that fate intended for them. Their life got worse just after that, forcing him to flee and leave his younger brother behind at the deranged hands of Walburga Black.
“You should eat more, Reggie.” You turned towards the quiet and reserved Slytherin, pushing his plate closer to him, which made him wince. “I am quite full.” You raised a brow “None sense, all you did was sip pumpkin juice so you better do as I say or I’ll tell Evan and Junior.”
“Do you know that you boss people around quite well?” He grumbles, shoving a few spoonsful of dinner in his mouth as you hummed in approval, cracking a small smile. “I was told.” Your eyes flickered to the Gryffindor table, it seemed to gravitate you, pulling you in.
Looking down at your pinky, you willed the string to be visible to you. Seeing the red string attached to Sirius Black made your stomach churn; was it butterflies? Unease? You don’t particularly know, having mixed reactions to the string that leads to your other half.
You’ve known for over a year now, keeping it to yourself as you quickly figured out that he wants nothing to do with his soulmate.
“Reggie! Reggie!”
You exclaimed, slapping the poor boy’s arm as he was currently staying in the L/n Manor. He looked in your direction, quite annoyed, he was interrupted reading his book. “I’m reading, Y/n. You know, you should too. It’ll do you some good.” He sassed, trying to find which part he stopped reading. “My soulmate! They tugged the string!” You gushed, “They must be looking for me too, right?” You asked no one in particular, you can still feel the tingles you felt, how your heartbeat picked up, and how you felt like you were in could nine.
Quite the opposite from what Sirius felt, huh?
You never told him, never planned to. It was quite clear what his views are on the concept of soulmates when you saw him snogging different girls every week. It wrecked you; you swore you felt your heart stop beating every time you see him loving a girl other than you even just for a week. It sounds stupid and all, but you would give up everything just to know what it feels like; how he will look at you with love and adoration in his eyes, how his touch and kisses would linger on your body, and how his voice would sound like as his breath fans in your ear, whispering promises of love.
You looked at him from the Slytherin table; so close yet so far.
Regulus noticed, the all too familiar broken look in your face. His heart hurts for you, even if you do not tell him, he already knows. Seeing his brother’s indifference, Regulus’s gaze hardened. How could he have the guts to do this to his soulmate?
The memory of their mother's despair, the way she withered away after their father severed the bond, was etched into his mind. Regulus does not wish for anyone to feel that way, he does not wish upon it even in his worst enemies.
It was a pain no one should endure, a lesson that should have been learned.
Yet there sat his brother, laughing with his friends and willfully ignoring the pulls of his heart. The person who held the other end of this unseen tether, was beside Regulus. Your soul ached as you watched your soulmate. It was a betrayal of the heart's deepest connection, and it stirred a tempest of fury within Regulus that he struggled to contain.
“My brother is foolish. Eat.” He states, pushing your food and placing the cornbread on his plate to yours. She cracks a smile, chuckling. “Alright, Reggie. You’re lucky I love you.” You pat his curls, proceeding to eat the bread, smiling a little. Reggie never really shares his food with anyone, except for you. You’re the only exception.
“Padfoot.” Remus starts, looking out of the window as Sirius lays down lazily in his bed, looking at nothing.
“What, Moons?”
“If I say that I have an inkling on who your soulmate is, would you… look for them?” Remus asked cautiously. Peter and James perked up, eyes wide with shock. How could Remus possibly guess who his soulmate is? Unless… They’re also in Hogwarts?
“Don’t start with that crap, Moony.” Sirius sat up; a scowl displayed in his features as his grey eyes turned stormy.
“Don’t you even feel the slightest amount of guilt in your system as you snog other girls?” Remus frowned.
Sirius’s scowl deepened, his hands clenching into fists. “Guilt? For what, Moony? For not wanting to be chained down by some ancient magic?” His voice was a low growl, barely containing the emotions that surged within him. “I won’t be dictated by fate. I make my own choices, and I refuse to be bound by a bond I never asked for.”
Remus’s expression softened, the lines of concern etching deeper into his face. “It’s not about being chained, Pads. It’s about finding someone who complements you, who understands you in ways no one else can.” He paused, his gaze steady and piercing. “You’ve seen what happens when that bond is severed. You’ve seen the pain it causes. Is that what you want for yourself? For your soulmate who’s probably hurting somewhere?”
Sirius looks down, biting his lip and playing with the rings on his fingers. “I don’t plan on severing our bond, Moons- “
“Then what the fuck are you doing?” Remus spat, Sirius flinched, looking at anything but them. He knew deep down that Remus was right. He can’t deny he also wants to look for his soulmate. The only thing that was holding him back is that he’s scared. What if your story would end similarly like how Walburga and Orion’s did? Dread fills his system as he reflects on how he slowly realized he’s becoming like his father. Peter and James exchanged a glance, the weight of the conversation settling heavily upon them.
“I’m scared,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “Scared of finding her… Scared of repeating the same mistakes.” He paused, his gaze lifting to meet Remus’s. “But you’re right. I can’t keep running from this. It’s not fair to them, and it’s not fair to me.”
James offered a supportive smile, feeling happy for his friend. Sirius stood up, his posture straightening as if shedding the weight of his fears. “I’ll do it. I’ll find her,” he declared, his voice steady. “I owe it to both of us to at least try.”
“That’s our Padfoot.” Remus breathes a sigh of relief as Peter nods encouragingly at Sirius.
The next daylight soon came. Sirius gulps, looking around the great hall, feeling quite overwhelmed at the number of students entering for breakfast, eating, or chatting amongst themselves. For the first time in a long time, he willed the red string of fate to reappear within his vision.
Ah, there it was. The red string connected to someone from the Slytherin table. Sirius felt his heart drop, seeing the end of the string connected to your pinky. “Y/n?” The name left his lips in a hushed awe, his heart skipping a beat as he saw the string connected to your pinky. You, who laughed with such ease beside Regulus, were the missing piece.
Whether it was some brotherly instinct, Regulus looked at him, shooting him a warning stare as if to say: ‘If you hurt her, you’ll never see the light of day ever again.’
Remus raised his eyebrows in surprise, knowing eyes set on his friend. “Found her, Pads?”
“Yeah. Found her, Moony.”
“Then what are you waiting for?” James chimed in, a grin spreading across his face as Peter silently cheers him on. “Go on, before you lose your nerve.”
Sirius took a deep breath, trying to shake off the weight of Regulus’s protective stare. It was a silent challenge, a vow to keep your heart safe from his brother. With a nod of acknowledgment, Sirius stepped forward, crossing the small distance between the Gryffindor table and Slytherin.
“Y/n,” he said, standing before you, the red string pulsing with a life of its own.
You stilled, slowly looking in his direction. Eyes wide with surprise, searched his for a moment before softening. “I was wondering when you’d come around,” you teared up, making Sirius’ heart ache.
Sirius extended his hand, the red string wrapping around both your destinies. “Let’s talk, yeah?”
And in that moment, as your fingers intertwined, Sirius knew that whatever the future held, he had made the right choice. For in finding you, he had found a new path that began to unravel, one filled with hope and courage. The buzz of Great Hall continued, but both of them felt time still, feeling the bond weave into their souls deeper.
Sirius’s and Y/n’s story had its flaws, but it was theirs, uniquely woven by the red strings of fate.

Jegumas day 2: cookies @noblehouseofgay
word count: 596
CW: Walburga’s A+ Parenting (vague but there. might be worth a mention), swearing? is that a cw?? idrk
It’s nearly midnight. The sky is dark and bats occasionally streak through the sky. The stars twinkle brightly and the moon practically glows, only a crescent but still enough to provide quite a bit of moonlight.
Regulus creeps out of bed. He’s only 16, how had he managed to escape from his parents, he’ll never know. James, fucking James, had to have invite Regulus to live with him.
“Mum won’t mind. She welcomed Sirius with open arms, she’ll do the same with you,” James had said. And Euphemia didn’t mind. She welcomed him. It felt to Regulus as though that hospitality made it worse.
So he’s awake. He’s awake, and he can’t sleep, and it’s too cold, being December and all, and he’s hungry because he refuses to eat dinner with the Potters (“James, I don’t want to intrude. It’d be weird.”), and he needs something. So he goes into the kitchen, flinching with every creak in the floorboard. God, could it be any louder? he thinks irritably, holding a dim flashlight to see a little in front of him.
Regulus makes his way into the kitchen, squinting through the darkness.
“Reg? What’re you doing up?” comes James mother-fucking Potters voice from the counter.
“Couldn’t sleep. What are you doing at midnight?” Regulus replies tiredly.
“Making cookies. I couldn’t sleep either. Wanna help me make them?” he offers like the sweet, kind person he is. How dare he.
“Sure, nothing better to do,” Regulus sighs, grabbing an apron to protect his pajamas. He approaches the counter, checking the instructions and where James is step-wise and jumping straight into helping him.
They work in perfect sync, no words uttered as they just… do. They work so well together it’s odd.
The cookies goes into the oven and Regulus hops up onto the kitchen island, swinging his legs as James stands next to him.
“Jaime… c’mere,” Regulus mutters, mind foggy with sleep deprivation. James moves to stand between his legs.
“Yes?”
“Got some flour on you” Regulus says distractedly, brushing it off James’ nose gently.
“Thank you, love,” James whispers, not a coherent thought behind his eyes.
What possesses Regulus’ soul, he’ll never know, but suddenly, at almost 1 in the morning in James’ parents’ kitchen, Regulus believes it the best idea to kiss him.
And so he does.
And so does James.
It’s a mutual transaction, see. Regulus kissed James first (but he’ll never admit it), so in return James obviously has to kiss him back (because what else are you gonna do when your best mates little brother kisses you in your parents’ kitchen after making cookies at midnight).
And so they kiss… and kiss… and kiss. For god knows how long. Long enough, evidently, for the cookie timer to go off.
“Shit, I forgot about those,” James says with flushed cheeks, moving to quickly shut the alarm up and remove the cookies from the oven, laughing softly as he returns to his place in front of Regulus.
He kisses Regulus again with a more playful smile.
They pull away long enough to put the cookies away and clean up before stumbling up the stairs in a fit of giggles, collapsing into James’ bed and passing out almost instantly.
“PRONGS WHY THE LIVING FUCK ARE YOU IN BED WITH MY BABY BROTHER??!?!?” comes Sirius’ angry voice in the morning as they both wake with a start, James pulling Regulus closer instinctively.
“This is gonna take some explaining. At least we have cookies,” Regulus mumbles into James’ chest, slightly amused at the anger secreting from his brother.

When they were young the Black brothers were always a topic of conversation around town. Everyone wondered how Orion, a short husky man with a build and face that much resembled a bull, and Walburga, a small rather plain woman who was always being cheated on by her heartless husband, could produce such beautiful sons. Not that the boys didn’t look like their parents, Sirius with the face shape and features of his father, and Regulus who was almost identical to his mother minus her icy blue eyes and long pointed nose. And they both sported the family's curly black hair. But something about their parents' features on the brothers looked so elegant and quite breathtaking. James had never had the fortune of speaking to Regulus when they were young but he would join in on the boys and girls alike that obsessed over him. Sirius would receive similar treatment, but Regulus had this mysterious air about him. You could feel it in his perfect posture and cool voice, he spoke slow and low, rarely making his opinion heard. While you could always hear Sirius speaking about something.

Prompt 11 - Essential
@jegulus-microfic July 11, Word count 693
“Sirius, why are there boxes of essential oils all over the flat?!” Regulus was startled awake by Remus shouting in the small flat. He’d moved in with his brother and his boyfriend a few weeks ago after his cousin Bellatrix caught him saying goodnight to the man he’d been on a date with. She’d taken pictures of him kissing the man goodnight and gone straight to his mother. When he got home, there was a box of his things on the doorstep. He’d knocked on the door when his key didn’t work and was greeted by Walburga Black sneering down at him. She showed him the pictures that Bellatrix had sent to her and told him he was no son of hers and to never darken their doorstep again.
Unsure of what to do, he phoned the only number on his phone that he’d never used. Sirius came and picked him up immediately and gave him a home. And that’s where he still was. It wasn’t too bad. He wasn’t afraid of coming home any more, so that was a bonus. It was just that the flat was tiny, and his brother was loud, and his friends were always there.
“It’s fine Remus, I’m going to put them all in our bedroom and sell them, everyone loves essential oils!” Sirius shouted back from his bedroom, snapping Regulus back to the present.
Sirius and Remus were throwing a party that night. Regulus was, of course, invited, but he planned to stay in his bedroom with his earphones on and binge-watch Downton Abbey. There was a loud yell and a bang from the living room. He jumped up and went to see what his brother had done now.
Sirius was sprawled on the carpet with ten small boxes on and around him.
“He tripped,” Remus said as a means of explanation. Regulus shook his head and started helping collect the boxes and store them in the other bedroom.
It wasn’t long before the party was in full swing and Regulus was deep into the tales of the Crawley family. He was, however, pulled from his viewing when his bedroom door flew open and James Potter blew in, shutting the door behind him.
“Can I hide in here?” He asked, looking around the small room for somewhere to hide.
“What? No.” Regulus screwed up his face in disgust. “Get out,”
“Oh come on, please,” James begged.
“Why do you need to hide?” Regulus was becoming interested against his better judgement. James snorted.
“I just put a ton of hot sauce in Sirius’s drink, and it’s only a matter of seconds before he takes a sip.”
“AHHHHHH!!! POTTER!!!” James’s eyebrows flew up his head as his eyes widened.
“Quick,” Regulus said, dragging his duvet up. “Curl up at the top of the bed,” James didn’t question him and did as he was told. Regulus threw the duvet over him, tucking in the edges and settled back, using him as a giant pillow and pressing play on his laptop again.
Sirius knocked on his door before peeping in.
“Reggie, you haven’t seen James, have you?” His voice was a little hoarse. Regulus had to bite his tongue to stop himself smiling.
“Nope, just me and Mary in here,”
“Mary? She’s out here,” Sirius looked behind him and pointed, “Yeah, she’s right there,”
“Not MacDonald. Lady Mary Crawley,” He huffed, spinning his laptop to show Sirius the screen.
“Oh, alright. If you see James though, I’m looking for him.”
“I’ll send him your way if I see him,” Regulus promised, his fingers crossed behind the laptop.
“You know you could come out and join us,” Sirius said hopefully.
“Sorry, I’m not really up to it,” He smiled a small smile at his brother.
“Maybe next time then,” Sirius returned the smile, but bigger. His eyes flicked around the room, and he quietly shut the door behind him.
“It’s clear,” Regulus said, jabbing his elbow into the soft lump behind him.
“Ooof!” James grunted but carefully rolled out of the cover. He plonked himself down next to Regulus and wrapped the duvet around their shoulders. “So what are we watching?”

I Don't Know Who You're Talking About
Remus Lupin x reader words; 2817 warnings; angst, blood, sad, murder, the usual part two this is so cutesy (NOT!) I wrote this on my phone in the car so if there's any mistakes thats my excuse. Also Y/m/n stands for your/marauders/nickname because ofc you're a Marauder and of course you're an animagus. like duh.
Tumblr media
“Remus, it's a full moon tonight, you can't go. We can't risk that.” I persisted, staring holes into the back of the boy's head.
He turned around angrily, “Why does it even matter, Y/n?” He yelled, and a drop of spit flew from his lips. “After everything that's happened, you're gonna stop me from going to that traitors trial?”
“If you're gonna act like this, yes! I am going to stop you.” I yelled back, taking a step towards him as my voice softened. “And we don't know if Sirius was framed or not, he's our best friend. Do you really think he'd do something like this?”
Remus shook his head, his shoulders dropping, “I think it doesn't matter, because James and Lily are dead. And Peter! Someone needs to be punished for it, and all the signs point to him.”
I frowned, “I don't think he did it.”
“Well, you think wrong.” Remus said, turning back around and walking out of the house, slamming the door behind him.
“Remus, I swear to Merlin, if you apparate to the Ministry-” I was cut off by the loud cracking noise of apparition. He didn't even grab his coat.
“Fancy seeing you here.” I said coolly as I sat next to Remus. He shook his head, anger radiating from his skin.
“You're ridiculous.” He muttered and I scoffed.
“There's no way you're taking your frustration out on me, right now.” I flashed a smile at a woman I recognized from Hogwarts, she smiled back sadly. I focused in on the middle of the room, where an empty cage was being rolled out.
“I can't even talk to you. You’re so annoying.” Remus stood up but was stopped as a new cage was rolled in. I gently pulled him back down as we stared at Sirius. He was caged and muzzled like a dog.
Remus squeezed my hand, and I squeezed back. Sirius’ clothes were torn, his usual fancy jacket he stole from his mother covered in dirt and blood. He looked around the room frantically, eyes wide and tears streaming down his cheeks. He made eye contact with me and placed his hands on the bars, silently begging me to believe that he didn't do this, he could never.
I gave him a look of worry as the Minister cleared his throat, “Sirius Black, son of Orion and Walburga Black, you are here today under the accusation of working with He Who Must Not Be Named and the murder of twelve muggles, one witch, Lily Potter, and two wizards, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew. How do you plead?”
The moment the muzzle was off his mouth he answered hastily. “Not guilty!” Sirius screamed, his voice shaky and broken. He shook in his cage, “I didn't do it, please! I would never hurt my frie-”
“Silence!” Crouch demanded, holding his hand up, his ring glinted in the candlelight. “We need not hear more.” He scribbled on a piece of parchment and handed it to the boy standing next to him. The boy studied the paper.
He nodded, “Of course, sir.” He left the room quickly.
There were quiet whispers floating around the room, speculating what the young boy could possibly be searching for.
“Now, because there seems to be a lack of witnesses, which I am sure is just how you wanted it to be, unfortunately we cannot blindly believe that you are innocent.” The boy came back into the room, holding a small vial of clear liquid.
“Veritaserum.” Remus mumbled and I nodded.
“It's a good idea.” I whispered.
The vial was brought up to Sirius’ lips, who drank it willingly, thankful to finally have a good alibi.
“I will ask you plain and simply, did you reveal the hidden location of James and Lily Potter to the Dark Lord, resulting in them being murdered and their son orphaned?”
Sirius shook his head, “I did not.” My shoulders relaxed as it felt as if a weight had been lifted. Remus still looked at him coldly, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Did you murder that group of muggles, and your own friend, Peter Pettigrew, leaving behind only his finger?”
“No, I did not.”
The room was silent as Crouch thought. They glanced between the man behind bars and the one upon a podium, his stare belittling. He glanced at the empty bottle on his desk, and back to Sirius before whispering to a man beside him.
I glanced at Sirius who was already looking at us. He gave me a small smile and I returned it.
“It is probable.” The man said quietly, but still in earshot.
Crouch nodded and banged his hammer, “It has been decided. The Veritaserum that was given to was a flake. So, under Mr. Barty Crouch, Minister of Magic, you plead guilty, and are sentenced to life in Azkaban.”
Some people cheered, others let out yells of protest. Remus slipped away, walking out of the room angrily.
“No, that's rubbish.” I yelled as he began to be rolled away. He screamed in fear, going crazy inside of the cage.
I stood up and pushed past people, carefully jumping down to the floor and below the Minister. The room silenced again and the cage stopped dragging across the floor. Everyone had their eyes on me.
“Let me talk to him.”
Crouch looked amused, “Miss-”
“It is only a custom. Tradition, even. You must allow me a word with Sirius Black before you send him off. It's in the books.”
Crouch glanced at the book as the boy flipped to the pages. He sighed as he read the words, telling him that it was indeed allowed for loved ones to speak with the person before they are sent off.
“I'm afraid he cannot be out of his cage, it is not up for discu-”
“I can talk through the bars, can I not?”
“Fine. Follow them.”
I followed them out quietly, ignoring the angry stares I got from people, even the spit that they shot at me, landing right in front of my feet. Once we were in the hall, the men stood to the side and I walked up the cage hastily, putting my hands on the bars.
“Sirius, I'm going to ask you this once, and only once, and I need you to tell me the truth. Whatever you say, I will believe you. Did you or did you not kill James and Lily?”
Sirius looked me straight in the eyes, desperate, “Y/n, please, I would never.”
“It's a yes or no question.”
“No. I didn't.”
I paused, before grabbing his hand through the bars, “I believe you. It's okay, I'll figure this out.”
His eyes filled with tears again and being this close I could see the heavy bags below his eyes. His hair was a ratty mess and his skin was blemished and dirty.
“Did you know she was pregnant?” Sirius asked and my eyes widened.
“She was?”
“Yeah. They were going to tell us all on Christmas, but James let it slip to me.”
I took a deep breath, “Oh my.”
There was a moment of silence between us, neither daring to break the quiet atmosphere.
“Does Remus hate me?” He whispered and my heart broke.
“I don't know.” I answered honestly and he nodded, his eyes averting to the bottom of the cage.
“I didn't kill them. I'd never. He was my best friend, my brother.” Sirius began sobbing. “I've already lost him, and Lily. I've lost my godson. And now Remus. I can’t lose you, Y/n/n, I can’t.” he cut himself off with a gasp.
“It's time to go.” One of the men said, beginning to drag him away.
“I can’t lose you!” Sirius yelled as he was dragged away.
“You won’t.” I whispered before I looked up at the man as he was dragged away, “Sirius! I love you!”
He smiled sadly, “I love you too, Y/m/n!”
I rubbed my hands together quickly as I walked up to the front door. I placed my hand on the freezing knob and opened it, silently cursing myself for not locking it before I left.
It was half an hour until sundown, so I immediately apparated home to help prepare Remus - and myself - for the night. It was probably going to be one of the hardest he's ever experienced, and I felt terrible for him.
“Remus?” I called out, only to get no response. I furrowed my brows taking my jacket off slowly, “Baby, I know you're mad but I still want to help you tonight.” Still, nothing.
I set down my bag and slipped off my shoes before quietly walking to the bedroom.
“Rem?” I asked softly, pushing open the door and expecting to see him sitting on the bed, head between his hands as he cried softly.
But he wasn't. In fact the room seemed to be the same as it was before I left. The bathroom was dark and empty. No sign of Remus anywhere.
I walked to the kitchen, hoping to find him sipping from a mug of tea while staring out the window, like he usually is. But there was nothing.
I slipped on my coat and threw on my shoes, ignoring my bag as I quickly left the house. I pulled out the flip phone Remus had insisted on us getting.
“For easier communication.” He’d say.
I struggled to work the muggle device, but managed to send a quick ‘where r u?!’ text. At this point, the sun was beginning its descent and the full moon shone brightly.
I paused for a moment, thinking of any possible place he could be.
“The Shrieking Shack.” I said quietly to myself, immediately apparating to the raggedy house.
However, just like our own, it was also completely empty, save for one man.
“Professor Dumbledore?” I asked quietly. The older man turned around and smiled gently. I didn't fail to notice the tears he wiped from his cheeks.
“Ah, Miss L/n, or is it Lupin, yet?” Dumdledore asked.
I shook my head, “Not yet, no. But speaking of the man, has he been here?”
Dumbledore looked around, “No, I'm afraid not.” He glanced out of the window, at the light in the darkening sky. “It is a full moon tonight, isn't it?”
I stood beside him with a sigh, “That it is.”
“And the night of Sirius’ trial as well, what unfortunate timing.”
“I'd have to agree.”
“You cannot find him?”
I turned around and leaned against the window sill, “No. We were fighting, before the trial. It's been rough for everyone and we took it out on each other.”
Dumbledore nodded, “Ah, it happens. I suppose, however, you should spend less time with this old man, and more time finding who I would assume to be a werewolf by now.”
I opened my mouth to answer but was cut off by a loud howl. The sun had completely dipped below the horizon, and the werewolves were born.
“Well, it seems you'd be correct.”
“Was that him?” Dumbledore asked.
I shook my head, “No, his howl is deeper. I assume that was a female.”
“Ah.”
I shifted my feet, feeling awkward. “Uhm, I'm gonna go look for him.”
“Take a blanket.” Dumdledore said, handing me a brown bundle of cloth.
“Thank you.”
“Go.”
I nodded and pushed open the door. I sighed at the heavy snowfall, looking into the distant trees. It was going to be a long night.
The tears started as the sun made an appearance again. The weight of everything finally hitting and pressure built behind my eyes.
“Remus, please, where are you?” I called out, my voice hoarse and salty tears slipped into my mouth. I wiped the running snot from my upper lip, my shoulders shaking.
I passed a tree and the bright color of red caught my eye. A blood trail. I followed it eagerly, a small sob leaving my lips and I clutched tightly onto the blanket. It led behind a rock, where my heart broke.
Remus lay there, naked and in a fetal position. He had long cuts all along his body and the snow around him was trained red. He shivered in the snow and his lips were blue.
He glanced at me weakly, sadness filling his eyes. “Y/n.” He whispered, his voice almost non existent.
I snapped out my daze and grabbed onto him, quickly pulling him to his feet and wrapping the blanket around him. He clutched onto me and cried, I cried with him.
I apparated to the house silently and he fell to his knees, I followed him, holding him in the kneeling position.
“It’s okay.” I whispered, biting back my own tears as he sobbed. “It’s okay.”
He cried, “It’s not!”
“Remus, let me clean you.” I said softly, wiping my tears after a few long moments.
“Okay.” He whispered, staring ahead blankly.
It was quiet, again, as I cleaned and bandaged. A few times he'd cry again, and I'd let him, figuring it was better to continue what I'm doing. I led him to bed and closed the curtains so the sun didn't shine through.
“Do you feel better?” I asked quietly once I got into bed.
“I'm not sure I feel much of anything, right now.” Remus said, facing his back towards me.
I looked at him sadly and turned over, closing my eyes and finally letting sleep overtake me.
When I woke up the bed was empty. I sighed, assuming he was in the kitchen or living room. I used the bathroom and walked out of the bedroom. I walked out into the living room.
“Remus?” I asked. He wasn't there. I looked into the kitchen and he wasn't to be seen. The deja vu of the night before was prominent. “Are you serious?”
A note sat neatly on the fridge. I glanced at the magnet, it was a picture of Remus and I smiling wide, faces pressed against each other. We got it from a muggle - or no-maj - vendor when we visited america. I noticed the second one we had was gone. I shook my head and took the note from beneath the magnet.
I immediately recognized the handwriting as Remus’. I stared at the letter, the one assigned to me. The last letter of my name was splotchy, stained with a tear.
I gently tore open the letter.
Dear Y/n,
I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know why I'm doing what I'm doing. I'm so sorry for what I'm doing.
I am so scared. With James, Lily, and Peter dead, and Sirius in Azkaban, I just don't know what to do.
You mean the world to me. You're perfect, beautiful, intelligent, witty, talented, you're everything good and nothing bad. At this point you are the world for me.
Which is why I have to do this. I can't drag you down to darkness with me, I'd never forgive myself. I know this will hurt you, it's hurting me too, but I also know you can get through this.
I want you to be happy, and I think that's impossible if I’m in your life. So I'm taking the liberty to leave it. My stuff will be magically transported once I find a place to stay, keep the house, you deserve it more than I do.
I love you more than life itself.
with the deepest of regrets,
Remus
P.S. you are worth EVERYTHING! don't ever settle for the bare minimum.
I dropped the letter and stared out of the window. The snow fell gently, piling up on the ground. It felt rather similar to the quiet tears dripping down my face. In the span of four weeks, I had lost everyone important to me. I didn't realize I had any tears left to cry.
I suppose I'll have to get a dog to keep me company now.
“Welcome, Professor L/n.” Dumbledore greeted.
I smiled at the group of teachers that came to welcome me. “Thank you, I appreciate all of you. Especially you, Minnie.” I said with a wink and Professor McGonagall laughed wetly, wiping a stray tear from her eye.
“Okay okay, let's not suffocate her on her first day. Dinner is in an hour, I trust you to find your room.” Dumbledore said and I nodded as the teachers dispersed.
“Severus.” I called out and the man stopped in his tracks. I walked over as he turned around and pulled him into a tight hug. He looked at me weirdly once I pulled away. “I know you loved her too.”
He knew exactly who I was talking about, “I have no idea who you're talking about.”
“I know you don't.” I smiled and began walking towards my room.
“I’m sorry about Lupin.” He said and I paused.
“I have no idea who you're talking about.”

@jegulus-microfic | march 7 phase | words: 644
tw: transphobia, anger issues, swearing
When Walburga finally passed away, Regulus and Sirius took their partners to check if there was anything worth keeping in the house they grew up in.
As they entered a shiver went down Regulus spine, all the horrible memories coming back. He wanted to leave as soon as he saw the family portrait hung on the wall across from the entrance. There were four figures painted on it - Walburga, who looked terrifying even in a painting that was supposed to warm her image; next to her stood Orion, haughty, with a mustache covering his mouth; they both had one of their hands each on the shoulders of their children - Sirius and someone Regulus never was.
"Love, you're shaking," a soft whisper came to his ear as a hand reached his back, squeezing lightly in a comforting gesture, calming him down a little. "They're gone, nothing's going to happen, I've got you," James murmured into his hair, kissing him there a moment later.
Feeling a bit less stressed Regulus nodded and smiled at his fiancé, taking his hand. James smiled, too, squeezing the hand lightly.
As they went through the Grimmauld Place lots of expensive, mostly useless shit was found - some swords, ancient piano, silverware made of real silver, Dior plates (why? just… why?) and paintings by famous painters such as Rubens, Monet and some others. Reaching second floor Regulus immediately went to scratch off the name tag on his old room’s door.
"This bitch! She could have just left it, but of course not! It would be too much of a disgrace to the family if anyone noticed!" he yelled, as the tag fell to the floor piece by piece. Regulus started banging on the door, angry to the point that tears of frustration started streaming down his face. "You could’ve just tear it off and not put another one on, but of course you’re too envious for that! I hate you! Do you hear me?! I!" bang. "Hate!" bang. "YOU!" Regulus may have acted a bit psychotically, but who wouldn't in his situation? His own mother was being transphobic towards him even from her grave.
When he calmed down few minutes later, James approached him, kneeling by his side and whipping the tears away. "Better?" he asked Regulus and he responded with a small nod. At that James pulled Reg to his chest and held tight, whispering sweet nothings to him.
***
A few hours after Regulus' breakdown, they had packed up all of their old clothes (most of them were to be sold and the rest would be given to their future children), grabbed some of the nicer things their parents had left behind, and sat in the living room with tea and an old photo album. As they flipped through the pages there were comments like ‘Don’t you have any normal pictures? Like, from a bathtub or a playground or something?’, provided mostly by Remus.
When Regulus turned another page James gasped and Remus whistled. In the photo, he sat at the Christmas Eve table with freshly cut short hair, wearing a black suit and matching tie.
"Your inner Sirius awoke that year, huh?" his brother-in-law asked with amusement.
"Oh, his inner Sirius awoke to the point he even wore a binder to piss them off further. And I, as an ally, acted like I didn’t know who they were referring to anytime someone used his deadname. Mother told me to stop then, remember Reggie?" his brother asked, turning to him. "She said that it was just a phase" they both laughed at the memory. Yes, Walburga almost had a stroke as Regulus walked down the stairs in one of Sirius’ old suits and a new haircut. She was so stunned she forgot to punish him after everyone went home.
"Well," Reg said, smirking smugly "I guess it wasn’t just a phase, mother."

“Sirius—”
“That’s my wife!”
Despite your attempts to quiet him down, Sirius had no intention of doing so. His life had been full of their fair share of good days and bad days, but this had to be hands down the best.
If someone would have told you during your first year at Hogwarts that you would marry Sirius Black, you would have laughed in their face and assumed they had been hexed. If someone had told you in your third year, you would have scoffed and rolled your eyes. If someone had said in your sixth year, you probably would have tried to pretend like your heart wasn’t thumping at the thought.
Your story with Sirius Black wasn’t a conventional one by any means, but you came together in the end. And now, at the age of twenty, he was finally marrying the girl that he knew he would spend the rest of his life with after you ‘accidentally’ hexed him off a broom in your second year.
“Baby, let me tell the world!” Sirius exclaimed as he threw his arms out. “I married the prettiest girl in the world! Be jealous, bastards!”
Even if your cheeks burned in embarrassment as the others wandering through the streets looked at you two, you couldn’t find yourself to be mad. Not when you were just as giddy about marrying the love of your life as he was.
“They are not gonna let us into another pub unless you calm down,” you laughed, letting him intertwine your hands together and pull you along behind him.
When word had gotten out that a Black was getting married, everyone expected luxury and extravagance. They expected millions to be spent, they expected the event to be plastered across newspapers, they expected everything they had seen in previous House Black weddings.
Except, Sirius was never a Black, not in the ways that mattered to his family.
The wedding he had would have sent his mother into an early grave. It was small, barely even a wedding in the eyes of Walburga Black.
It was in a cramped little room, with James, Remus and Lily as the witnesses. They had all dressed up after Sirius insisted that even if your wedding was nothing traditional, you deserved to get dressed and dolled up. You probably looked like idiots, every single one of you dressed to the nines as you walked through the dreary halls of the Ministry.
But none of you cared, and Sirius certainly didn’t.
Because he was with you and you were officially his wife, and nothing could ruin this day for him.
“It’s fine, love,” Sirius grinned at you, wild and happy and carefree. “It’s a pub crawl for a reason. There are plenty of others we can terrorise.”
“And not let all of London see my pretty dress? You wound me, Mr Black,” you teased with a smile.
His eyes wandered down the pretty, white dress that flowed around you. It was a sight he never wanted to forget. It was a sight he wanted to see for the rest of his life.
“I’ll make sure the whole world sees how exquisite you are, Mrs Black,” he murmured in a softer voice as he stopped right in front of you, uncaring at the fact you were standing in the middle of the street. He cupped your face in his hand, looking down at you with pure love and adoration in his eyes.
“You’re a sweet talker,” you commented, your cheeks starting to hurt with how much you had been smiling all day.
“And you’re my wife,” he retorted with a cheeky grin. “My wife.”
“Your wife,” you repeated with a matching grin.
“I can’t wait to fuck you as my wife and not my girlfriend.”
You snorted. “Way to ruin a cute moment, Sirius.”
He didn’t bother looking bashful. “Gotta end our wedding day right, love.”

Holiday - a Jegulus /Wolfstar/Rosekiller Micro fic
James was absolutely gobsmacked when he found out that Regulus ,Sirius ,Remus ,Barty and Evan had never been on holiday so he managed to convince his parents to take them on the family holiday ,Effie and Monty were more than happy to take them along to their trip to Bali .
Sirius , Barty and Evan were ecstatic Remus was as calm as usual but Regulus on the other hand wasn't as enthusiastic but after a few words of reassurance from James he came round to the idea although he did have to admit he was slightly excited about the thought of sharing a hotel room with James and not having to share with Sirius and Remus.
Effie and Monty insisted that they flew over in a muggle plane, Which was Regulus' idea of hell but he soon fell asleep with his head on James' shoulder .
" Jamie" Regulus mumbled " Yes Reggie " he replied.
" Can we send my mother and father some of the pictures we take on this holiday " Regulus said quietly .
"Of course baby " James said softly. " You promise ?" " I promise " .Since he left home he was constantly looking for ways he could disappoint his so called parents and James was always there to help because he hated Walburga and Orion as much as Regulus did.
They finally landed as got off the plane James took in the way Regulus' eyes lit up upon seeing the view.
" MOONY LOOK " Sirius exclaimed ,Remus already scared to see what his boyfriend was looking at but he relaxed when he realised that Sirius was staring at the beach " It looks stunning pads" Remus said already grabbing his boyfriends hand .
Barty and Evan were most excited to get to the hotel so they could grab their swimming gear and go in the sea but they were even more excited at the sleeping arrangements .Effie and Monty in room no.1, Sirius and Remus in room no.2 , James and Regulus in room no.3 so they got room no.4 .
Effie and Monty were going on a hike so all the boys decided they were going to the beach , Barty and Evan were immediately in the water and they were shortly followed by Sirius and Remus (it took a lot of convincing to get Remus to get in the water) whilst James and Regulus sunbathed on the beach .
" I could lay here for days with you Reg" said James potter sweetly while looking at his boyfriend like a lovesick puppy.
" I could too Jamie but we need to start heading back so we can wash off all the sand before meeting your parents for dinner "Regulus said whilst brushing some of the sand as James got up with him he pecked him on lips .
The others finally got out of the water before they all walked back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and that was their first day of their holiday. The next week flew by but James kept his promise to Regulus ,They took some photos by the waterfall nothing too daring just sweet little kisses that he knew his parents would hate after all, his parents hated it when he was happy and that's what he was with James as a matter of fact he wasn't just happy with James he was in love .
The next day when the got home the first thing they did was send an owl with an envelope to No.12 Grimmauld Place containing the photos of their amazing holiday in Bali .

teatime - December 22nd - Black brothers, mentions of jegulus - @taylorswiftmicrofic - word count: 417
Regulus had always had trouble using his voice.
Perhaps it was because Sirius was always louder. He practically insisted on being heard, so Regulus just...allowed it. Why bother, really? Plus, if Sirius wanted to be the one always getting into trouble, who was Regulus to stop him?
Or...perhaps it was because he had more of a sense of self-preservation. He knew, mostly from watching Sirius, what the consequences were for speaking up. He'd have to be stupid to say something. It was smart, to keep quiet, right?
But as he grew older and stopped listening to his parents' skewed view of things, he realized that Sirius's wasn't loud just to be loud. Sirius was loud because he chose to be. Both because he couldn't stand the oppressive environment of their family home and because he was protecting Regulus.
And still, Regulus stayed quiet. And he hated himself for it. It made him feel sick, knowing he was turning a blind eye to the way his parents acted. Knowing that he acted like he supported it, sometimes.
Until one day, he'd had enough.
They were at teatime, and as usual, Sirius was being berated for being a disappointment. But beratement was turning to yelling and anger, and wands were being drawn. And usually, at this point, Regulus would have excused himself. But he thought of who he wanted to be. Both for Sirius, and for another boy, far away, sharing a much more pleasant meal with his own family.
"...a plague on this family!" Orion was screaming, want pointed at Sirius's heart as the sixteen-year-old laughed quietly. "We ought to make you feel the pain you've caused us!"
"Go ahead, Father! Won't change who I am! Or do you think you can curse the good out of me?" Sirius retorted snidely, eyes wild.
But as Orion raised his wand and opened his mouth, Regulus blurted out, "I'm dating James Potter!"
And suddenly, things were so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop.
Walburga spoke first, slowly turning to her younger son. "Regulus, don't joke about such things," she said dismissively.
"I'm not joking," he said, his entire body shaking. He caught Sirius's eye, and the other boy sent him a shocked-but-proud expression. He tilted his head up defiantly and said, "Will you curse me too, then, Mother?"
And, an hour later, as he and Sirius showed up at the door of the Potter Manor with a small bag, disowned and parent-less, he'd never felt better about himself.

I just need Sirius-centric angst bro
A fic where Regulus is indeed favored by Walburga and Sirius was constantly taking shit for it pls. Sprinkle in some abuse though I don't really care for physical abuse, just mental or emotional is fine.
Bonus points if Sirius does act out or become worse in her eyes, purposely failing her expectations so by default, Regulus would be the better son and would live with much less pressure.
Make it spicier too if possible. Sirius is fucked up because of it. Sometimes that older sibling jealousy overtakes him, sometimes he wants to see Regulus suffer too, sometimes he wants to stop doing all this and just prove to her he was worth her time but the guilt from that would be far heavier so he pushes himself!
Oh and obviously he doesn't escape Walburga's abuse unscathed!! Of course it affected him!! Of course it scars him!! He thought he was loved until his sorting and realized it was conditional and now he has self esteem issues because of her and he tries to hide it by being egoistical!!
Gotta add in my favorite trope too. The day Sirius snaps and tries to run away, he attempts to bring Regulus as well and gets rejected because one of them had to stay!! That fucks up Sirius even more because not only would his own mother never choose him but his brother too!!
The cherry on top? It's a Jegulus fic where James hides their relationship from Sirius. Because Regulus and Sirius haven't made up even though James knows they both want to and he just loves Regulus even more. And Sirius then finds out!! And realizes his second brother won't choose him first either!
It's like what, three times someone dear to him would pick his family over him? Walburga with Regulus, regulus with the Black family, James with Regulus. Oh god, his self esteem would be destroyed.
I need fics like these where Sirius that is so desperate to give his love out, hoping he'd be picked first because wally made him feel like he'd never be and yet is never chosen first. I need an angsty fics that's so angsty it could literally kill him.
Orion preferably not mentioned cause idgaf abt him. No platonic/romantic wolfstar, or platonic lilypad or platonic blackkinnon or any other duo that can give Sirius any emotional or mental support. I want him to suffer.
And well it ends with a very emotionally scarred Sirius and preferably a happy ending, for Jegulus atleast!!

DESI JAMES POTTER HEADCANON
Disclaimer: this is not era-typical. this is strictly subjective, this is my way of projecting my delusions and hoping I meet someone like James Potter some day!!
James craves parental and academic validation.
Now before I get jumped, lets all be real for one second. You are telling me James Potter is a desi first gen NRI and he does not crave validation? I refuse to believe that!! And it was not that Effie and Monty pressurized him... it was the opposite actually. they did not say a thing and my boy just felt he had to be the best because he has such nice parents who never ask for anything how can he ever live up to it??
He was the kind to lose sleep before important days. Right before the big matches and papers you would find James F. Potter roaming the halls of the school in the wee hours of morning, hands tightly clutching onto a mug that says, "You are ENOUGH" (his parents gifted him this in 3rd year when they noticed he was not doing well). The mug is obviously filled to the brim with either masala chai or cold coffee (the indian one).
2. He smelled like cloves
now this is something I have observed in my day to day life and feel like James too, would partake in. He would be the kind to use "spicy" toothpaste. simply because he thinks they last longer or smth. Effie also makes him homemade oil that has cloves (idk what they do I just associate the spice with him OKAY?) So basically when his partner(s) kiss him, they taste and smell clove. And it is not a comforting spice like cinnamon but imagine a whitewashed Regulus getting used to the sting of cloves and the horrible dant kanti-esque taste because the boyfriend uses them. There is a point when Regulus just starts carrying around a small bottle of clove oil or a box of clove and elaichi daana because James smells like cloves and Sirius like cardamom (FIGHT ME.)
3. Resident Problem Solver
Was he mischievous? Hell yes. Did he still make efforts to make sure everyone was okay? Duh.
James would be the kind to ask everyone about their day at the dinner table and be actually interested in what they have to say. He would notice when one of his friends were having a hard day and just drop a ladoo on their plate or ask them if they would like "non-spicy" chai. He would be the peacemaker. ALWAYS. He DID not like conflict. It hurt his soul to watch his friends fight or give each other a cold shoulder.
4. He LOVED being Desi.
he had the diaspora issue, obviously. But Effie and Monty came from the pre-partition India and tried to hold onto their country as much as they could. So James was super used to all the desi things. He had a head full of thick luscious curls because his mother massaged oil and gave him champi every week. When he moved to Hogwarts his hair suffered a little before the Summer when Sirius visited the Potters. Effie taught both of them how to apply oil onto each other's scalps and then it became their tradition at Hogwarts.
5. When Sirius returned bald.
there is a very popular HC that one year Walburga shaved Sirius' hair off because he was being disrespectful or smth. That year, James developed a variant of Indulekha x Parachute Coconut Oil (come on Desis i know you know what I mean) and made sure Sirius had his long hair back before Christmas. He would personally look after his diet, forcing amla tea down his throat or making sure he is eating 3-4 meals that consist of healthy things and not just meat as Sirius would otherwise have it.
Regulus fell in love with James around this time because he did smth he could not, protect Sirius. He went as far as daring Walburga to try to do it again, James would make sure Sirius grows his hair longer than ever.
ps. he was the one who came up with curl-care routine for the marauders and all of them had PJO cast like hair it was so cute jadfiqgfuiwgiuu okay
6. He did not practice any religion
James was not religious, he was spiritual. He did whatever his mum, who herself practiced two religions, told him to do. Both Effie and Monty believed in giving back to the society more than giving to some religious institute, so imagine a first year James rushing into Poppy's wing with an injured bird in his hand begging her to save it.
7. He was the people's princess.
fight the wall. everyone, even the slytherins, secretly LOVED him and the gulab jamuns he would give out on Diwali every year.
8. Enjoyer of classical music.
I have said it before, I will say it again. MY MANZ LISTENED TO GHULAM ALI. idc if he was muggle or what, he loved his music, language be damned.
he enjoyed urdu ghazals more than anything else tbh.
9. TRAINED CLASSICAL MUSICIAN
he was trained in sitar and he could sing as well. he was basically an in house singer. He learnt electric guitar in his 2nd year and then there was no looking back. If he would not have been a professional quidditch player he would have been a musician or a music teacher or smth.
10. he was a STEM student.
okay this is non-canon but comp sci major James? who also happens to enjoy botany? yes. just the best.
11. James who would slip into Urdu when he was overwhelmed, who loved when people played with his hair. James who wrote letters in Urdu or Hindi or whatever regional language his parents spoke and wrote.
12. James potter who hated how his eyes were brown, just brown, growing up. but then one day his mother told him it is what she loves the best about him.
13. James Potter with bitten lips, he does that whenever he is nervous.
14. James Potter who was born during sunrise, his mother believes he is the sun.
15. James who would lay his life for his friends. James who loved hugging Peter, James who committed crimes for Remus.
16. James who adored and admired Minerva so much that he would try everything to get her attention, except he was her favourite student after Lily and Remus (Sirius was her son, let us all be honest).
17. James who played Carnatic Music while studying.
18. James who would wear short kurtas. james who is obsessed with shawls.
19. James who carried a bag full of supplies his friends might need. Like imagine a pouch filled with hair elastics for Sirius and the girls, painkillers for Remus, fidget toys and stress ball for Peter, and cloves for Regulus.
20. James WHO FOUGHT THE AUTHORITY!!!
-- I WILL ADD MORE DW LET ME THINK--
ADD YOURS TOO BTW COME ON HELP A DEMIGIRL OUT

Ok so I need your opinion on the "Sirius black was always different and was abused from the very beggining" thing because after thinking about the canon Sirius and Walburga it made me think that Sirius probably used to be Walburga's biggest pride and joy because he was a perfect son in her eyes but their relationship started getting worse after he miraculously became a Gryff.
It just fits, you know? Regulus always sounded like a quiet child, someone often overlooked while Sirius is loud, opinionated and hard to control. And Walburga sounds exactly the same.
There is no way she wouldn't love a child that is her copy, someone she saw as the perfect future heir. Because he //was// perfect.
But then he became a Gryff and mayby she still believed things would stay the same but then Sirius came home for the holidays and he was- different. Yeah, he was still loud and proud but he started asking questions that neither Walburga nor Orion liked. They humanized mudbloods!
After that I think the relationship just became more and more toxic until Sirius couldn't stay anymore in the house he used to love, with people he used to (and mayby still) love.
Mayby that's why Walburga hated her oldest so much even as a portrait. Sirius was supposed to be //the best//, he was supposed to be //perfect//. And yet here he is, broken and a shell of his perfect little boy, used, chewed up and discarded when he was no longer needed
What do you think?
First off, I’m going to be really careful about how we define abuse here. I agree to a certain extent, but I think we need to consider that what we know to be emotional and physical neglect/abuse today is very different from 1960s-1970s child-rearing. The Blacks were an exceptionally traditional magical family, and their behaviors towards their children would have reflected this.
I think Mrs. Black loved Sirius more than Regulus, and I imagine her expectations for Sirius were much higher. “Sit up straight, do this, do that, don’t do that,” etc. Critiquing, nitpicking, criticizing. Today, I doubt we would tolerate this sort of behavior from a parent, but I think this would have been very normal in their society. After all, you show your child how much you love them by turning them into the very best version of them, right? Right???
Regulus was a jealous, sycophantic little slug. I think he would have tried to get Sirius in trouble whenever he could, but no one likes a snitch, particularly not Mrs. Black. But it’s easy to pit siblings against each other, and Mrs. Black would have used this to her advantage: “Oh, Sirius, look how refined your brother is. Do you see him speaking out of turn? Do you see how he obeys his mother?”
I also headcanon that Mrs. Black used magic to teach lessons. In a fic, I have Sirius relate an anecdote from childhood where he repeatedly talks out of turn and Mrs. Black uses a Silencing charm on him to shut him up for a few days—a gentle punishment in her eyes and a vital life lesson, but really traumatizing for a child. Again, this is abuse, and perhaps other traditional families would see it as extreme, but I don’t think anyone would express concern or find it particularly troubling. (James would be horrified, though, of course.)
As Sirius drifts further and further away from his family, however, Mrs. Black becomes increasingly desperate to keep her son in line. They eventually dissolve into constant fighting until Sirius can’t take it anymore and runs away (or this scenario).
A lot of folks think that pain and hatred is the foundation of abuse, but really, it’s often love. Growing up in an environment where you are never good enough, where your parents are constantly criticizing who you are and how to improve is an incredibly damaging and traumatizing way to grow up. Imagine being told that you are better than everyone else but you are still not good enough. Your everyday actions—speaking, eating, just sitting there—could be something you’re doing wrong. Imagine just trying to fucking eat and your mother barks at you that you’re holding your knife and fork wrong. Or that the order in which you’re eating is wrong. Or that you’re making too much eye contact or not enough or that you can’t speak until an adult addresses you. Not because she hates you, but because she loves you.
Anyway, is it abuse? Yeah. Would Sirius have considered it abuse? I’m not so sure, but I’m not sure he would recognize it as love (why would he?). However, Mrs. Black definitely saw her parenting as love, and she would see him running away as taking her love and throwing it all away for nothing. Let’s be honest, I think she always hoped Sirius would come back to her, and it drove her mad that he never did.
Oh, and yeah, Sirius definitely loved his family. He was constantly rejected and belittled, and I think he hated himself for wanting their approval deep down (even though he would NEVER admit it and never do anything to get it). This is what can be so hard for children who come from emotionally abusive families—at some point, it’s still your mom, and you want her to love you, but you fucking hate that you want it.

Jegumas day 12: traditions @noblehouseofgay
word count: 878
C/TW: Walburga’s A+ Parenting
Regulus had never had “Christmases”. Yes, Walburga and Orion hosted stuffy dinners and parties and “White Elephant”s for every rich and powerful family they knew, but come Christmas day and neither he nor Sirius would get presents, or family-time (not that they wanted that), or anything of the sort. Sirius would always bitch about it loudly.
“I want a real Christmas! Not stuffy robes and shitty rich-people foods,” he’d grumble, earning a backhand across the face from their mother. She’d refuse to leave any visible marks on them, lest it “ruin their reputation”, but it hurt well enough as is.
Regulus, on the other hand, would treat Christmas as a normal day. He pretended he didn’t care, earning quiet outrage from Sirius in private (“How do you not care, Reggie?” “Don’t call me Reggie.” “But how can you just sit there and take it?”), and indifference from their parents. Much to his pleasure, as any attention from Sirius was good attention to Regulus, and no attention from Walburga and Orion was much much better than negative attention. So even if he had to endure shitty “holidays” (they can’t even be called that in that household), at least he wasn’t getting hurt.
So when their mother allowed them the opportunity to stay at Hogwarts for the hols one year, his heart leapt to his throat and he almost screamed.
“Oh my god. Maman is letting us stay for Christmas,” he whispers disbelievingly, passing the letter over to Sirius, who gasps excessively loudly. James almost instantly pipes up.
“We all have to stay now. We must throw a party of sorts, or at least celebrate together.”
“Ooh, yes, good idea. We can have, like, a week-long sleepover,” Sirius says with wide eyes. Regulus turns a little more stoic, a lump forming in his throat as he realizes that Sirius would rather be with his friends over him.
“Oh, yeah, great, cool, have fun,” he mumbles unenthusiastically.
“You’re coming with us, I hope you know that you’re coming with us,” James says amusedly.
“Great, spending Christmas with my brother and his little friends. Peak holidays right here,” Regulus says sarcastically, a warmth seeping through his chest as the prospect.
“I mean if you don’t want to, you don’t have to co-” James starts before getting cut off.
“No, I’ll come. I mean… yeah sure, I’ll be there,” Regulus says with a faint blush. Remus and Sirius both looked equally as confused, as Regulus never quite showed any sort of fluster or emotion. James could always pull that out of him -- he always seemed good at things like that.
“Great, good, meet in our common room at midnight? The password is collywobble.”
Soon came 11:50, and Regulus tentatively ventured out. He’d been exploring the castle at night since his very first night at Hogwarts, but this was different. He was meeting his brother’s best friend in forbidden territory: the Gryffindor common room. At 11.58, he whispered the password, quietly shut the door, and stood in the center of the room, looking around. James pads down the stairs softly, each step evidently his by the rhythm of his walking. Regulus quickly sits on the couch, wanting to look less tense than he actually is.
“Oh hey Reggie, you’re early,” his voice comes flowing smoothly from the doorway.
“I left early,” he shrugs indifferently, firmly ignoring the way his face heats up at James’ very presence.
“Makes sense. So we’ll be sleeping in here. Sirius refuses to share a room with his brother for… obvious reasons concerning him and Remus, and I wouldn’t want you to be all alone,” James says, grabbing a few blankets and pillows and setting up sleeping arrangements on a couch for the two of them to share.
“Wait wait wait- we’re sharing a bed? Or, couch I should say?” Regulus asks incredulously, heart pounding in his chest so much he’s shocked James can’t hear it.
“Oh, yeah I mean none of the other couches or armchairs are as comfy to sleep on, and they cause serious back pain in the morning, so I figured it’d be better to just share. Plus we can keep each other warm since it’s below freezing,” James says awkwardly, wringing his hands as if he’s scared Regulus will refuse.
“I mean, I guess that makes sense,” Regulus agrees, seemingly hesitant but inside he’s screaming excitedly.
“Okay, as long as you aren’t uncomfortable,” James says was a warm smile, handing Regulus a pair of his pajama pants and a comfy quidditch hoodie to change into, showing him to the bathroom to change.
The second the door shuts, Regulus silently screams, instantly changing and taking in the scent of the clothes. Gods I’m so whipped Regulus thinks helplessly, stepping out after fixing himself slightly.
James was sitting on the couch with a book, seemingly waiting for Regulus to join him. He hesitantly lies next to him, curled into James’ chest instinctively, as the couch was quite small.
His eyes flutter shut serenely, thankful for James inviting him to this as he dozes off, only very faintly aware of James pressing a kiss to the top of his head before falling asleep with Regulus tucked into his arms under the blankets so very peacefully.
