And that’s Jain Zar done and ready to join her Howling Banshees! Probably one of the most delicate models I now own!

I made a grave error this week. With the Sanguinala deadline looming and my attention span already terrible, I tried out one of the WH40k phone games. Did you know that when you take a terrible dopamine drip pastime and weld it to your existing hyperfixation, you can just lose days like it's your job? Yeah.
There's not a lot of story, mostly collecting gubbinz and sticking them on your characters to make them do more numbers, but I've still caught a couple of interesting moments. Like. Most factions have a couple of lore characters for the "legendary" and "epic" slots, and then some generic ones to round out the team. They're generally people one would expect (eg., Tigurius and Calgar for Ultramarines - plus Titus now as an event character - Maugen Ra and Jain Zar for eldar, Typhus and Nauseous Rotbone (afaict the only chaos healer) for Death Guard, etc) but in the Black Legion we get Abaddon, Haarken Worldclaimer... and Volk. The first Obliterator. Who I think we had only seen during the Heresy? A thousand years before the Black Legion formed? I would love this to be evidence that he lived, tbh.
Also one of the generic World Eater units is a Jakhal, and I got him early, so he's on my too-small Chaos team with terminators from the Black Legion and the Death Guard and you know what I will ship anything and possibly that's my superpower. I just picture him following these ancient, legendary tanks around the battlefield and really, really, really wanting to kill enough guys to get them to nod at him in approval.
ALSO the first faction you fight/second faction you start collecting is the Necrons, and I got as far as meeting "Imospekh" and was like, what the fuck kind of bootleg tomb world is this. Great designs, though. The hexmark destroyer and canoptek spyder are just fun to look at on the character screen.
Anyway I have made terrible choices and had better get back to the exchange fic mines.

I just wish Aspect Warriors were written with the same degree of wankery over how unstoppable and superhuman and fearless and untouchable in battle that Astartes were. I wish we got moments like a Nob squad just shouldering aside a whole Leman Russ tank as they charge or a millennia-old invincible Imperial bastion literally melting to slag after minutes of Tyranid bio-bombardment. I wish other factions got to have 'oh that's badass' moments, you know?
Maybe one day, huh? Aside from that one bit where the Harlequins got to murk golden boys. That was funny.
But yeah, no, I remember reading one of the “Path” Eldar books as a teenager. And in it the main guy becomes an exarch, and then is immediately killed by a dreadnought. But it ends with him getting up again cos Exarch, and it’s treated as this whoooa BADASS moment. I thought it was really weird and stupid, and I still think it’s weird and stupid. Hell, Jain fuckin’ Zar gets killed in the Night Lords omnibus.
That’s the biggest issue, I think, aside from the obvious Eldar jobbing. All of their higher tier characters can un-die themselves, so they get killed at convenience. Even in their own novels.
I would say that it will improve, but… GW really don’t seem to like the Eldar.
Or they could prove me utterly wrong and have a book that’s 400 pages of Maugan Ra murderising his way through a Black Templars battalion. I’d accept that.

So I built Jain Zar after doing quite a bit of painting on Typhus (as one does) and bemoaned the fact that so much of her model is just hair. Then I remembered this also the case for Lelith and Yvaine, now I'm left wondering (jokingly) if its the case for all of the named eldari characters.
Sir, take off the helmet, do you also have long hair?

Warhammer 40,000 Aeldari Changes for June 20, 2024
The previous kings of 10th Edition aren't getting any more rules changes this time around. GW appears to be content with how the army plays, as is most of the competitive scene I think. Aeldari have fallen from their mighty perch to a 47% win rate, and are now slightly underrepresented on top tables. They've also seen a slight slip in their play rates. But like many of the middle of the pack armies, they can always benefit from having the top factions taken down a peg.
The Errata and FAQ just fix the lack of a close combat weapon on the Skyrunner and mostly answer the same questions as Miracle dice for Sisters. However Inevitable Death has been confirmed to follow the new rules for Repositioning Units. This means the Yncarne can be screened by units like Infiltrators.
For points GW has decided to take a stab at more internal balance. All the popular models have gone up in pts, with Yvraine and the Ynnari taking an additional 25 pts tax. They can't get their dedicated detachment soon enough. For under played units getting boosted, GW has targeted Asurman, Jain Zar, Karandras, and Maugan Ra. It would be nice to see Uncle K with Scorpions hit the table again. Here's hoping he has a character sculpt waiting for the Aeldari Codex drop. The Vyper and Wraithlord also got a bit of a buff, as did, to my surprise, the Voidweaver. Hopefully this will shake up the current tournament list a bit.

while harlequins need the attention first, it would be neat to get the other half of the aspect warriors in plastic and maybe (this part is slightly deluded of me) plastic phoenix lords? plastic phoenix lords (other than maugan ra and jain zar I mean)?

What is Nenime’s current response to the present state of the galaxy?
Canonically, Nenime is very busy with the Ynnari; a big plot point being the rescue of Iybraesil’s forces after their botched search for Jain Zar (as seen in their codex!)
Doubtless, she’s involved with whatever the eldar are doing in the webway while all the Lion stuff goes down
Tumblr media
I’m sure she’ll be very upset once she finds out the incompetent space marines fumbled a webway tunneler.

Chaos Guard or Traitor Guardsmen from Blackstone Fortress. I haven't played with Chaos troops in forever, not since the big "Eye of Terror" 40K campaign in 2003. I built an undead/chaotic Guard army for the event, lost badly with them most of the time, never played with them again, but I had great time building them. I'll have to dig them out of storage for a photo op someday.
Tumblr media
And now back to 1994 with Jain Zar from the 40K Eldar (before they were Aeldari) Craftworlds armies, inspirational leader of the Howling Banshees. Every time I tried using Howling Banshees in a game they got their asses handed to them, so they and Jain Zar had been sitting unpainted in storage for decades. I'm in a good painting space now though and I don't care if they are terrible on the tabletop.

Hey all, took a small break of 5 years 8 months 25 days to have children, but today - today I decided to do warhammer.
Great to know I loathe working with finecast as much as before. Reattached the brightlance to the war walker that my child snapped off and didnt tell me, assembled a blood angels jump chaplain, jain zar and an old school maugan ra. The new model didnt even exist when I got him.
Probably nothing else has changed in 5 years tho right?

Faction de personnage de niveau S Roswitha Adepta Soronitas Celestine Adepta Soronitas Aleph-Null Necrons Re'vas Tau Empire Ulf Space Wolves Yazaghor Thousand Sons Archimatos Black Legion Maugan Ra Aeldari Marneus Calgar Ultramarines Commissar Yarrick Astra Militarum Castellan Creed Astra Militarum A Tier Character Faction Sibyll Devine Astra Militarum Thaddeus Noble Astra Militarum Calandis Aeldari Aethana Aeldari Jain Zar Aeldari Brother Jaeger Black Templars High Marshal Helbrecht Black Templars Volk Black Legion Toth Thousand Sons Abraxas Thousand Sons Empire Aun'Shi Tau Empire Sho'syl Tau Bellator Ultramarines Arjac Space Wolves Morvenn Vahl Adepta Soronitas Vindicta Adepta Soronitas Typhus Death Guard Snotflogga Orks B Tier Character Faction Varro Tigurius Ultramarines Certus Ultramarines Sarquael Dark Angels Sword Brother Godswyl Black Templars Brother Burchard Black Templars Ancient Thoread Black Templars Haarken Worldclaimer Black Legion Angrax Black Legion Abaddon The Despoiler Black Legion Tjark Space Wolves Boss Gulgortz Orks Azrael Dark Angels Eldryon Aeldari Nécrons Imospekh Nécrons Anuphet Nécrons Makhotep Nécrons Thoutmosis C Tier Character Faction Isabella Adepta Soronitas Incisus Ultramarines Shadowsun Tau Empire Darkstrider Tau Empire Kut Skoden Astra Militarum Pestillian Death Guard Nauseous Rotbone Death Guard Corrodius Death Guard Maladus Death Guard Tanksmasha Orks Snappawrecka Orks Gibbascrapz Orks 2 Guide de relance Warhammer 40k Tacticus Naturellement, chaque fois que vous mettez la main sur un nouveau jeu, vous voulez commencer dans les meilleures conditions possibles.
The Aeldari crashed into the flank of an Ultramarines taskforce tasked with defending the ruins of an Imperial Outpost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Was my first game since the Eldar nerf and boy are they still strong. Took my Fast and Furious army that has 2 Falcons and every jetbike I own, including a faseer leading a warlock conclave on bike. Threw in the Yncarne for good measure. Goal was to have a lot of firepower and board control.
Got first turn and I slammed into his line, taking down a tank with skyweavers and severly wounding another with fire from the Falcon and killing some Centurians with Jain Zar. The Yncarne teleported to the spot were the first tank died and scored me capture enemy stronghold and charge another vehicle.
From there we traded the middle back and forth until I tabled him on turn 4. Game ended 92-27 with a solid Eldar victory. I got lucky a few times. His desolation squad wiffed hard first turn and I dont think roled under 5 on the number of shots my warlocks got on their flamers.
I see why the space elves are still the boogymen on the battlefield right now.

Look at Jainas Mor in this pict-capture; it's the three-bladed shuriken that Jain Zar is wielding.
Tumblr media
Now look at those various Eldar symbols.
Recognize anything?
How old were you when you realized that the High Elf island of Ulthuan resembles the yin-yang symbol within its Inner Sea?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, both the elves and the Eldar have this symbol in a lot of their iconography.
