Propaganda
Ser Jaime Lannister, Game of Thrones (2011-2019) Portrayed by: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
“Okay, yes, he is an asshole who fucks his sister and pushes children out of windows, but we can fix him! Deep down he's just a lost little meow meow who doesn't know anything but fighting and family. But the more he's exposed to the outside world, the more he sees the error of his ways and tries to do better. And what's hotter than a redemption arc?”
Wat, A Knight’s Tale (2001) Portrayed by:
“being funny is SEXY”

Additional Propaganda
For Jaime Lannister:
Tumblr media
“In the books, both Brienne and Catelyn saw him emaciated and covered in his own filth and they thought "he could still get it". I think Nikolaj Coster-Waldau really lives up to that reputation.”
Tumblr media
“Let's be real he's probably not into you, but doesn't that just add to the charm?”

robert understanding that jaime was basically still a child when he killed aerys, a child given this MASSIVE and RIDICULOUS duty of being the sole defender of like 60% of the royal family except one of those royals was INSANE and EVIL, and that he reacted the way a child might which was just killing aerys before he could do any more damage……like being able to see so clearly the exact catch-22 jaime was stuck in when he’s still a teenager…..but then being completely unable to apply that same understanding to his own family, or even to lyanna & why she might have not wanted to marry him……..

obsessed with the futility of vengeance in dany's story. your family is murdered, you're exiled, your home is taken in every sense of the word, and you have just hatched three dragons so you *should* be more than capable of enacting some righteous vengeance. except your family's killers are all dead before you can ever get near them and the last one left is a one-handed broken thing with graying hair and ptsd. what the fuck are you supposed to do with that? kill him? he'd probably thank you. dany's family is a haunting him more than her. what can she do but tell him to let them go, that rhaegar is gone, his children are gone, let them go. what can she do but let them go herself.

So like. The Riverlands, or at least Harrenhal, have like a gravitational pull. Which is why Catelyn, Jaime, Brienne, and Arya can’t ever escape there. Even in death, Catelyn can’t leave. Her memory and her body are bound together and to her homeland once more. And Jaime and Brienne spend all their time in ASOS in the Riverlands, and you think they’ll escape back to civilization and King’s Landing, and they do, but a) they are changed irrevocably from the people who started out so like did they really leave? and b) King’s Landing turns out to be a brief respite only. They must return once more, and they may even die there. And then Arya spends like two whole books there, wandering and traveling and never getting to where she needs to go. And even when she leaves, even with the whole Narrow Sea between her and those forests and streams, her consciousness and her soul still reside there, and she returns there every night, renewing her connection. Okay? They are stuck. They’re trapped. It’s just endless forest and rivers and the occasional band of outlaws or travelers or abandoned castles. Which, none of them can leave, either. Gendry and the Brotherhood are still there, even when their original purpose is lost and their leader dies. Jeyne, the orphans at the inn, Ravella Smallwood, the Freys, the Brackens and Blackwoods, the Bloody Mummers, the bear from the Harrenhal Bear Pit— they are all trapped. Okay?

I was going through your meta links (I find your meta a really insightful reading of the books and it's made me look at them with fresh eyes which is a lot of fun) and was especially curious about your answer to why Jaime told Brienne about the wildfire and Aerys, but the link is broken and I can't find it by searching your tags or blog :( would you be willing to share your thoughts on it again?
idk what i said but i think it is a culmination of factors. brienne embodies true knighthood/heroism, and is an indisputably good individual and is a person whose approbation part of jaime actually deeply craves (george has expressed this in an interview before) to the point that he will actually justify himself to her and open up to her + jaime was also stripped bare of all of his walls throughout asos, and the bath itself + injuries etc have him in a state where his control is not the best obviously, but still, brienne is his past self’s idealistic mirror. if anybody on earth will listen, and hear him, deep down he knows she is someone who would. one of the most gnawing fears that jaime has as per the asos dream is that his society, including the people who he idealized as the epitome of knighthood and honor, would reject him even with the confession and still believe he was wrong to do the right thing even with the context, and that is something that would snuff that fire out in him permanently. it is a confrontation that would lead to the justification of his extreme cynicism regarding how the world functions and how human beings are like, which is the most heartbreaking thing for an idealist. but by the confession he viscerally knows that brienne would not do such a thing. and she doesnt. because people can be good, and they can understand. there are true heroes! “i dreamed of you.”
