Shop My Layover Looks
I joined Like To Know It and I am so excited to share my favorite layover looks, along with looks that inspire my style. I am lucky that I get to fly around the world on luxurious private jets, and I want to look the part. I am more lucky that I have an eye for fashion and can look the part on a budget! I have also dedicated a look board to Kate Middleton. The way she mixes high end designer…

I have a fic idea last night: why not Ace, Luffy and Law love triangle? Law's a travelling doctor, Ace and Luffy are essentially hitchhikers and they run into each other frequently on their travels.
He meets Luffy first and Luffy clings onto him like a puppy. They dine-and-dash at buffets, explore forests/natural sights together and most importantly make out! Luffy's annoying but Law admits that having someone like Luffy makes things fun and he genuinely enjoys the endless trivia of facts Luffy has about insects and nature. "Oh! This bug's poisonous, don't touch that! The last time Usopp touched that he had a stomachache!" "Did you know that this rock is full of diamonds? Nami says a small chunk of it's worth like A MILLION BERRIES!" "This tree's as old as Brook! We should climb it!" They travel together some days and sometimes Luffy looks at Law with a very soft, somewhat unsure expression with stars in his eyes. And sometimes, Law looks back and smiles.
Ace, meanwhile is aloof at first. He's decisively not as chatty but Law knows fuck-me-eyes when he sees them. They fuck in Law's hotel room. On the bed, on the counter, in the shower, on the bed again! They do not stop! It is disgusting and messy but dang it Ace's so hot!! "I know gorgeous when I see it," Ace says as he nibbles on Law's ear. "So fucking pretty. Drives me crazy." They (trauma) bond the next morning and that's when they become closer and on talking terms. Like Luffy, they go on dates but they're more chill. They watch busking performances and drink at quiet bars at one in the morning. They end every date with heated kisses. Although they don't want it to be, they're well aware every date could be their last...
Also, Law has no idea Ace and Luffy are related! Law had only met them seperately after all!
When Law finally settles down, he's neighbours with a white guy called Sabo. To welcome him, Sabo invites Law to a family dinner with his brothers. Imagine how awkward it is when Law sees Ace AND Luffy show up together...
#In essence yes he gets dicked down by both brothers idk why i find that so funny#acelaw#lawace#lulaw#lawlu#one piece#au idea#trafalgar law#portgas d ace#monkey d. luffy#trafalgar water d law#I have no coherent plot but I wanna write this#what if i throw sabo in there for fun#what if Sabo falls in love with law too?#jacqueline's traveller au

📚 March Reading Round-Up 📚
Read some pretty great books in March, and there's a few I'm still reading that I hope to finish in April!
I was able to continue some series that I've been reading, such as The Murderbot Diaries and Kushiel's Legacy. I also finally finished the Imperial Radch trilogy!
- House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J Maas (partial re-read, Partial re-read, very good, kept wanting to read more, didn’t cry but felt the Emotions, friendship! Connected much more to some characters this time around)
- Divinity 36 by Gail Carriger (Good, engrossing, very emotional, lots of heart at its core, enjoyed it more as I continued reading)
- This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone (thank you Bigolas Dickolas for the push to finally read this book! Loved the audiobook, beautiful, not as confusing as I’d feared, loved how their relationship developed, the prose and metaphors and language…)
- Traveller's Joy by Victoria Goddard (Good, emotional, heartwarming, some sadness and dramatic irony, friendship!)
- Kushiel's Chosen (finally got to the second book, and it didn't disappoint! So good, kept binging it, so emotional and philosophical, heartbreaking at parts, loved it even more than book one)
- Network Effect by Martha Wells (so good and readable, Murderbot my beloved, loved seeing the characters and their relationships and Three, Murderbot being rescued!!!!)
- Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie (Read it in one sitting immediately after finishing Network Effect, so very good, loved the themes and characters and how they developed and grew, that ending!)

Classic Doctor Who Season 1: (7/10)
I really enjoyed watching this more than i was expecting given i struggled to watch Classic Who episodes when i tried watching them years ago. For starts William Hartnell's portrayal of The 1st doctor is super charming and charismatic.
He really portrays the pov i had of The Doctor earlier on in his life. He sees himself as more important than humanity but reluctantly starts rubbing off on Ian and Barbara who somewhat humanise him slowly across the season. We can start seeing his heroic traits on display later. It really makes sense and is enjoyable that the first companions the Doctor had is what starts creating the personality and quirks of The Doctor we know and love later on.
My favorite serial was probably The Edge or Destruction or The Sensorites as they feel really entertaining and familiar in what i enjoy of the Newer seasons. The Daleks was fun but i didn't enjoy it as much as most. Only serial i felt was boring was The Aztecs
And The Unearthly Child is somewhat boring past the amazing first episode. I haven't watched Marco Polo yet given it's lost currently but i might listen to it's audio at a later point when i'm finished with the show. Overall i loved the first season of the Classic Doctor Who seasons and i'm excited to see how the show progresses!

i'm thinking about jacqueline bouvier kennedy onassis (known to most as jackie kennedy, JFK's wife) who got a coveted fashion magazine internship only to quit on the first day. i'm not sure why.
whose high school yearbook life goal was simply "not to become a housewife"
who read and translated french political philosophy books into english for JFK's senate campaign in massachusetts because she thought that maybe, if she proved she could be pretty AND smart, he'd finally propose (he, um, slept with marilyn monroe instead? and jackie kept dating him?)
whose beloved boss john white had a running $5 bet with her that JFK'd never marry her, and on her wedding day, john white gave her a $5 bill and he smiled and they laughed together because she was SO bubbly and happy. it was a magnificent day.
who cried when jfk routinely joked that she had "too much status and not enough quo", and she ran out of the room crying when he laughed and said, to a room full of people, "maybe the voters aren't ready for jackie in the advertisements. maybe we'll need to use subliminal messaging and embed her in, one frame at a time" because she wasn't good enough to be seen with him when he was running for president
(EVEN THOUGH A MAJOR REASON HE STARTED DATING HER WAS TO PROVE TO THE VOTERS THAT HE WAS AN ALL-AMERICAN GUY WHO COULD SETTLE DOWN INSTEAD OF BEING A PERPETUAL BACHELOR!!!!! i'm so mad about this)
who took care of him after he had major spinal surgery, and he was miserable and angry, and he still found a fucking way to cheat on her by writing international love letters to the girl he wished he'd met before he got engaged to jackie (this is gunilla von post)
who pretended not to be upset when JFK arranged vacation on yachts with friends instead of staying home with her when she was pregnant (and he probably cheated on her while on those yacht trips, too)
who refused to vote for anyone in the election after JFK died because, if she couldn't vote for her husband, she wouldn't vote for anyone. he was important. he was beloved.
(fuck him, oh my god, she was so ambitious and she was crushed by all of the sexism around her. she just wanted to be a reporter.
she was a reporter, for a little bit, and then she left that job. she became a housewife. she became every college friend she'd mocked for dropping out or not taking internships/jobs in favor of marrying a guy. she became the person she didn't want to be.)
source for all these facts: the jacqueline biography by barbara leaming. it's SO GOOD, OH MY GOD.
like, to be entirely clear, jackie was a fantastic society wife. she was smart and she was a fucking GOOD first lady, smart and well-traveled and cultured and savvy and fluent in french. and I personally believe she showed the world how well-behaved women can still be so important and valuable and kind and good.
BUT. you shouldn't have to be in a loveless marriage, and you shouldn't have to labor under the pressure of american rumors and cry and cater to the public and run away from your husband when he makes disparaging remarks about you.
I believe that fame is abuse. a gilded cage, no matter how beautiful, is still a cage.
thinking about clara bow and how her art defined that era but then married her husband who denied their marriage and then she never acted again and ariel who lost her voice after chasing the man she loved and how masie peters says in her song wendy "if i'm not careful, i'll wake up and we'll be married and i'll still flinch at the sound of the door" and "you could take me to neverland baby, we could live off of magic and maybes, but i know the girl that you want and it scares me, behind every lost boy, there's always a wendy" and "lose the world that you live in, pretend that it's what you wanted, it's a life i could have, i know" and "what about my wings? what about wendy?"
and i'm just feeling like the theme of the tortured poets department is going to be: what about my art? what about my voice? what about my wings, what about wendy?
#ttpd#jackie kennedy#gender roles#jacqueline kennedy#taylor swift#keeping up with the kennedys#which is the name of my special interest :D#sorry i am SO EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS ALL OF THE TIME#AND ALSO#FUCK JFK FOR BEING MEAN TO HER#SHE TRIED *SO* HARD#and she was always 'too poised and stiff' or 'she's always traveling in europe!' (she was GRIEVING HER HUSBAND'S DEATH)#and she couldn't wear european clothes because it was too fancy for the American voters. so she had to change all her clothes#there is A Lot of white privilege in jackie's story#and she was not very feminist in terms of intersectional feminism i should acknowledge#BUT she is very interesting. oh GOD i could write all day about gender roles + women's sorrow + PTSD/anguish/weeping#+ the loveless marriages of the 1960s#she just wanted to be loved. i don't know if she felt loved.#i don't KNOW. he was always so busy being charming i don't know if he ever took that mask off for her#jackie!!! jackie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just want you to be happy!!!!!!#so much grief in a sixty-year lifetime#rivers and rivers and rivers of sorrow. fuck gender roles and the patriarchy

"Rarity" and AJ!
Ponyville's most premier fashion designer, "Rarity." After traveling Europe and apprenticing with the haute couture visionaries of France and England––under the persona of a Shanghai socialite––she returned to the states a reinvented woman, leaving behind her past.
April-Jacqueline, the proud proprietor of the Apple Family Farm––a communal touchstone of Ponyville's hootenannies and barn-burners, as well as the town's largest orchard. A believer in Southern hospitality and an appreciator of applejack liquor, rodeos, and her Winchester rifle.

Elijah raised an eyebrow when Jackie returned and refused to settle down. He smirked at this, illness was foreign to him as a vampire and it was similar for her as a hybrid.
„It's good to take a rest to clear your mind.“ His gaze wandered around. „Even here.“
He tapped beside him promptly, even if it stirred up a cloud of dust and other odours. Elijah wrinkled his nose, jumped up and went to the door. „Or,“ he pulled his credit card out of his jacket, “I'll treat us to some great other accommodation,“ and opened the door. He walked out, pulled out his smartphone and searched for suitable accommodation. He grinned when he found it. „Come on, princess.“
It took less than ten minutes by car before they were finally standing in front of the next hotel. Much more sumptuous. Dressed up.
Just as quickly as they had reached the hotel, Elijah - with a little manipulation - reached a room with a king-size bed. Superb cleanliness, a huge shower and bath, separate, and no animals crawling around.
He glanced curiously at Jackie.
„Approved?“
her knees brush the old ac unit as she looks out the window. the whole thing is less than ideal, the room's smell lingers in her senses, and the thought of touching any surface is enough to make her skin crawl. hearing the door close, she turns just enough to look over her shoulder, quickly scoffing at his comment. ❛❛ blaming me. how chivalrous of you. ❜❜ her lips quirk into a small smile, turning around to lean her back against the wall and observe him. ❛❛you are the one who insisted on stopping,❜❜ she reminds him.
her gaze moves from him to the bed. mind picking apart every detail. how could someone like him even accept such standards? clearly, she was too presumptuous in her opinion of him. ❛❛i’m going to grab some towels to lie on top of.❜❜ with a slight frown she disappears into the bathroom only to end up coming back empty-handed, ❛❛….there’s a bug in there,❜❜ it’s the only explanation she gives. instead, she takes off her jacket, draping it over the pillow on her side of the bed before sitting down. ❛❛think i might jus' stay up. you know - keep watch.❜❜ she barely sleeps as it is, more so now that she needs it less as a vampire - and now ? in an unfamiliar and questionable place. it's enough to make her skin crawl.
#› queue‹ patience is a strength#› threads‹ written by elijah#insanislupus#(verse: travel)#(threads; jackie)#You inspire me every single day. Jacqueline Matlin
