Dirty faced and still in something adjacent to shock, Uly had had to get away from the rest of the residents and the onlookers that were still crowding the scene of what had once been his home. He hadn't been able to salvage much in the chaos of the evacuation, just his scrambling boxer-clad best friend who had been couch-dwelling with him since the storm.

( As long as Asher wasn't ashes he could figure out the rest. )

He felt separated from it from where he stood in the park, watching the billow of the dark smoke ascending into the night sky like he hadn't been inhaling the very same less than an hour ago. All of his feeds were moving a mile a minute, information zipping around as well as things that definitely sounded false.

He had just been reading a tweet from his cousin's ex when he heard a voice speak to him, turning in the direction it originated from. It was hard not to know who Jackson Ellis was, especially after living in and around Aurora Bay for as long as he had. The nonchalance emanating from him was exactly what he would expect.

"I don't know, think that's the previews." His head gestured to the smouldering apartment building they had both been looking at in the distance before he holds his phone out to him and show's him the tweet that he had just been reading.

"I think chargrilling your daddy was the main event, Jacky boy."

Did he know that for sure? Not at all, but like most of his non-factual thoughts, he stated it any way.

There wasn't much Jackson could do or wanted to do. The apartments were on fire and well, shit happens. All he could do was get the word out and hope that people were out in time. He did end up finding himself watching the smoke rise from the city park. He had been sitting on a bench as others either passed or were rushing to get to their destination. It was was weird witnessing the chaos that was occurring, but it wasn’t like that town hadn’t had it’s fair share of it lately. He stood as he needed to head home to check on his mother. Just as he was about to walk towards his car, he noticed another person watching the smoke as well. “Glad to know I’m not the only one watching the show.” He said as he approached them.

While on the off night that Courtney wasn't working, she found herself at the pub before going home to an empty trailer. Cohen was working late so she figured grabbing a drink couldn't hurt. Sitting at the bar, she had ordered a maragrita on the rocks, sipping upon it while she scrolled through her phone. Looking up, she noticed she wasn't alone at the bar, but of course she wasn't interested in mingling with anyone. Though she did all of a sudden wish she was her friends or her husband.

She didn't know why she decided to sign up for an one-hour personal training session. She didn't know why she wrote down her name, using Catarina instead of Kit even though no one would use her birth name, except for her late parents when they were mad, and the government. And yet, here she was, waiting for the trainer to show up, already regretting her decision. She was not into sports, but she thought that maybe it could be a nice way to just... unwind. However, Kit's regrets became bigger when she turned to the open door and saw Jackson. "Oh. Hi," she dropped. Didn't she read, somewhere, that he was working there? She should have known. Shit. "I -- I can cancel it, if you don't want to spend the entire hour with me," she stuttered, uncomfortable.

So far, the weekend had been perfect. Lena had found herself staying out a little later than planned the night before, had walked in the parade with her friends, and now, all she wanted to do was eat! Which wasn't always the easiest decision to make in the world, when every event Merrock hosted seemed to have delicious food. At the moment, her eyes were scanning over a case of baked goods, when she noticed someone else standing nearby, looking up and instantly recognizing JD, breaking into a smile. "Food break for you, too?"

Diana always hated when her family wasn't the ones working the places they usually did around town. She found she usually got things free, but there were times like now at Stevie's cafe that the woman wasn't there and some new hire didn't know who she was. Leaving her stuff at home, she couldn't pay for her food and she rolled her eyes before looking at a woman at the table. "Hey! Would you mind paying for this? I promise I can pay you back. I just forgot my card and of course my cousin isn't here to spot me." Or just give her a free pass. "I swear I'm good for it."

The house was starting to look more and more like a home these days. Well, at least you could tell it was supposed to be a house now. There was so much that still needed to be done. He had spent the whole after noon up there and he was sure by now his brothers knew that's where he was if he wasn't at home; especially Andrew now that they lived together. Ben certainly knew as well as Travis heard Molly bark and looked up to see his older brother's car pull up. He stopped what he was working on before waving at him.

This time around, Jason had decided to be an eater, not a griller. Although he loved to use his grill on his little deck back at the camper, and spent a good amount of time coming up with new things he could make, after the bake off, and that round of intensity, sitting it out and eating? Just fine by him. But the problem was... knowing where to start. "Don't you kind of wish that you could just give everyone a blue ribbon and call it a day?" he asked JD with a laugh as he stepped up beside him to look over the food in front of them. "Everything looks so good."

hey, has anyone ever told you that you look like soldier boy? it’s a regular question in his bar, one that he’s getting pretty sick of hearing, especially when you take into consideration the fact that he hasn’t got a single superpower whatsoever. and it’s only gotten worse since news of the attack on vought tower, to the point where he’s considering closing his bar for good. he’s even taken to speaking in lightly french-accented english again, despite swearing off ever doing so again, in the hopes that it might further differentiate him from the disgraced supe.

It had been a long day at the hospital, and to be honest Jasmine hadn't even thought twice about it when the ranch hands talked about how they were going into town to blow off some steam at the local bar. She had been monitoring a sixteen year old coma patient for the last six months, and today he had suddenly taken a turn for the worst; she wanted nothing more than to drink and distract herself from the feeling of failure that was radiating through her body. She needed distraction, and this was the easiest way to do that. Glaring slightly at the larger shot glass in front of her, she emptied the whiskey from the glass and then ordered herself another shot. She'd opened a tab and knew it would probably get expensive by the end of the night, but she didn't really care; she could afford it. Staring at the liquid inside the shot glass for a few moments, she soon picked the glass up and swirled it a few times before downing it again and setting the glass back down with a heavy sigh.

Lars was being a tad difficult that day, so she decided to go to the park, per usual. Her two-month-old son was wide awake, but it was afternoon, and every day she went to the park to do two things, one to socialize with locals since she did not know anyone, and second to have fresh air, instead of being locked up at home. She took him off the stroller, sat on the bench, and realized someone she knew was right by her side… Ben. ❛ Ben, it is you? ❜ They met in Europe, it had been a while since she met him.

It was mostly at the end of the day that she felt anything, but she still tried not to take them if she didn't need to. On her way out, she wasn't watching where she was going and almost ran into a person. Looking up, she smiled and was glad to see she knew the man. "Ben, hi. Sorry about that. Should really be watching where I go." Especially after her accident.

After her divorce, Livvy had been pretty hopeless when it came to decorating. She had coaxed a neighbor into helping her the year before, her father before that, but this year... she was determined to get out there and do as much of it on her own as possible. And maybe have some fun with helping others out, too, which is what had led her to Cityview Park, bundled up in a warm coat and boots, hat pulled over her ears. Frustrated, as usual. Thankfully, a savior walked into her view and she called out. "JD! Could you help me? These snowflake lights got all tangled, and I'm trying to decorate this bush."

Like the time we had my boy Julian on for candy wars? I know y'all still heated on that topic, don't worry were gonna get him back for part two real soon, but in the meantime! We got a celeb in our midst...and no it ain't me," he laughed, "But I do still sign autographs, hit me up yeah? Anyway I'm being told to get back to it, so! Our guest tonight, and we're very keen to have him on, drumroll please..." to which he played the sound as backup, "Ernest Jackson!" He did gesture to him but that only benefited those in the studio. With a smirk playing up now, he turned to Ernie, words doubled edged on purpose. Mason had done research for once, looking up their guest before they came in and he nearly fell out of the chair laughing at what he found. "Wanna introduce yourself, dude? Tell the Covians what you famous for? You have quite the presence in the interwebs."

She was looking over all the books in the new section and grabbed one off the table to read the back. Deciding it wasn't for her, she went to put it back, only for it to fall on the ground. "Shoot." She cursed to herself and tried to figure out how to grab it as things were getting harder to grab with how far along she was.
