Edit: With the amount of notes this has received I want to make it clear (since people who have reblogged and added their own opinions to this saying the fear is unnecessary) that while these studies specifically geared toward veterans are meant to help and were possibly requested from the previous administration, extreme caution should still be advised.

Our dearest Trump has allowed ending of employment for whatever reason now regardless of disability, race, gender, sexuality etc., we all know what Meta has turned into and what the current administration probably has to do with that and definitely has to do with the TikTok ban... I'm just saying do not be surprised if somehow these records end up being used for more harm than good if they just decide it'll be a... fun weekend hobby.

I want people to make informed decisions regardless of what they decide! But they have made it very clear on the kind of people they are and what they will do to harm any sort of minority. Please consider that when you call this "unnecessary fear mongering". They are already erasing valid data/searches from social medias and valuable sources.

Was recently reminded by my friend @teeg of just how much info Facebook collects to track you, and I want to share how to make that harder for them with the rest of you.

If you still have facebook/can't get rid of it (for any reason- we're not here to judge today) then you're going to want to clear your off-Meta activity.

You read that right, Meta tracks what you do off it's apps as well. It tracks other apps and websites that you use- whether you connected them to Facebook or not, AND places you visit IRL and when you visited. This includes not just stores and other businesses, but also allegedly includes hotels, schools and hospital/doctors offices. (I'm unfortunately unable to confirm the last three for myself as I didn't look closely at mine before deleting- and it's been years since I've graduated or stayed at a hotel, and months since I've been to a doctor. If anyone cares to confirm in the notes I'll update this post.)

This post will show you how to clear your off-Meta activity. (You'll also want to toggle off Ads data permissions, but I'll make another post about that later.)

First, go to your Profile Icon, then to Settings and Privacy to get to your Settings.

Once in Settings you're going to click See more in Accounts Center. On desktop it should be in a box on the upper-left of the page.

Once in Accounts Center you're going to click Your information and permissions, then Your activity off Meta technologies at the bottom of that window.

Once in the Your activity off Meta technologies window you're going to notice at the bottom three buttons, Disconnect specific activity, Clear previous activity, and Manage future activity.

You're going to want to first clear your previous activity and disconnect future activity. This will also automatically clear any activity that would be under the Disconnect specific activity tab, as it's just for picking and choosing what activity to delete.

An added benefit to this is that it will also clear out some of the data Meta uses for its AI programs- not all, but hey- that's something.

Also, even if you can't delete your Facebook account, I urge you to please delete/uninstall the app from your phone as that's the #1 best way to keep it from tracking you everywhere you go IRL and online. That said, if you delete no other Meta app from your phone- make sure to delete FB messenger- it's literally the worst one, but that's another post, which I'll hopefully get to after the FB ads one I promised above.

"Hey, I don't see the problem." Naomi grinned. It seemed like a wise decision when you thought about it. "You winning means you could take care of another plant, since you learned from the first one." She added. It didn't seem like it would be a terrible thing to do. "Consider it... a graduation gift from.. the new plant parent - society." She totally made it up on whim in a means to be funny or corny.

"A stepping stone to encourage you to blossom in your right to have a future garden or whatever, it's really me being helpful. you're welcome." Naomi knew that she could easily win. It wasn't rocket science to look up information on whatever plant she picked up. A monstera was close by and the plant always intrigued her. "Okay, I am going to go with this one. I heard it was easy and just need low to medium light so it shouldn't die too quickly." It was very beginner friendly if you asked her. "Which one are you going with as your first victim?"

"You don't have to name the fake ones," he laughed, shaking his head, "you don't even have to water them! You just set them to the side and let them do their thing." Although 'their thing' normally consisted of them collecting dust and wasting his time by not actually doing anything for his mood… or the environment. But he supposed that they kept his house from looking plain and dingy, and sometimes that was worth it. "That's the problem. I've tried. I had one of those window herb gardens, you know the little ones you place in a window sill?" a side eye, then, as he looked over at her. "Dead."

Bringing his hand up to his chest, he placed it over his heart, as though making an oath, a promise, something that he would hold true and not let down… even if it was over something as simple as a little plant that he was going to try not to kill. "Oh, that's masochistic," he replied with a soft 'tsk' of his tongue. "In other words when I win, you have to buy me a dinner at any place of my choosing, but you're also going to give me a live plant so that I have to work twice as hard now…?"

"I guess. Go for it." She wasn't familiar with the artist. She also didn't know the situation or the reason behind buying the gift. Naomi didn't even care to ask. It was none of her business and she was sticking with that. "If you like it, I love it." She mustered up a faint smile.

Sav let out a generous sigh, surely coating the records with her before her with her demon's breath that she then continued to rifle through, paying little to no attention anymore— Naomi, clearly holding onto some mild to severe torment Sav potentially was included in in 2000 and late. Wasn't her first, wouldn't be her last. Though, it had been a long, long time. "Maybe it does need my wrath. Beats phony smiles and fake niceties. I think it's a pretty good balance." She said to the air above, thoughtful in that Naomi was the one to come to her. Holding her hands up in silent arrest as she went on, "And I would've thought by now you—oh, no. Nevermind. I haven't thought about you at all, like, ever..." Rolling her eyes, was she really getting into it with a vaguely familiar face from high school? Turning her attention back, she brushed the hair out of her face and said, "Because you asked, and I'm making conversation? Unpleasant as it might be. Just, yes or no? Is it a good 'thank you' gift or not?"
