I made myself a Fire Emblem theme for my solitaire game

FUN FACTS NOBODY ASKED FOR:

The face cards did not align this way naturally. All of them had to be zoomed in at least twice, most four, and a few had to be scooted over a little to avoid being cropped in the wrong places or to fix general alignment issues

The game doesn't properly support transparent images, so I had to give each face card a background; really all I did was colour drop the deck's base colour and use that as the background so it would match

Each face card was shrunk to the card's base dimensions [422x562] with the background being twice that size [844x1124] to allow for easier placement without running into a black background because of said transparency issues

I didn't make any changes to the playing background. I just set it and left it as is

The card backing isn't quite aligned in the center, but I have no motivation to try and fix that right now

The backing border was completely unintentional. I chose that deck to build off of simply because of the gold rim around the face-up cards. I didn't realise it would come with a backing border, but hey it works

I chose Fable as the base theme to build off of for two reasons: 1. Aesthetic™, and 2. The background music is the closest to Fire Emblem music the game has [I really wish you could choose your own in-game ambience instead of having to use a preset theme first]

The stars effect has no real impact on the theme, I just like it

I initially wanted Ferdinand to be the Jack of Diamonds, but I didn't want to use his pre-skip design, which is all Heroes had, so Forde was chosen instead

Takumi was briefly considered for Jack of Diamonds and King of Clubs before those roles went to Forde and Eliwood

Ishtar was going to be the Queen of Clubs, but I decided three Genealogy characters was enough, so Michaiah took this spot

Other candidates for Queen of Clubs were Cherche, Celica, Seiros, and Eirika

I went with the Chrom!Inigo edit instead of normal Inigo or Lazward simply because Chrom!Inigo is best Inigo and you cannot change my mind

Alm, Michaiah, and Forde are the only ones who use official art instead of Heroes art. I preferred Alm and Michaiah's official art while Forde isn't even in the game yet [get on that, IS]

I originally wanted to use Edelgard's official post-skip art as I didn't [and still don't] like how her Heroes art sharply cuts off, but it ultimately clashed badly when trying to align it, so I had to use her Legendary alt [her pre-skip and Three Hopes designs were out of the question from the get-go]. I aligned the cutoff with the edge of the card as best I could and I'm surprised it worked

The only set in stone characters from the very beginning were Eltshan, Seliph, and Inigo. The rest I decided as I went on

Tiki was completely spur of the moment. As soon as I remembered she existed, I was like "Oh yeah, adult Tiki would be a perfect Queen of Hearts". I saw her Brave alt and didn't look back

I briefly considered using Eltshan's performance alt, but decided against it

While I knew I wanted Seliph as the Jack of Hearts, I initially wasn't sure which version to use, but I ultimately went with the version I liked the most, which was his Brave alt

Lewyn was a toss-up as to which version I wanted to use, but I went with his festival alt as I liked it more than his normal version

Other characters I considered but with no solid placement were Sigurd, Arvis, Lucina, Ayra, Soleil, Dorothea, Olivia, Deirdre, Say'ri, Elincia, Ryouma, Innes, Tana, Ephraim, Felix, and Constance

Inigo and the aces required some additional editing to remove their white backgrounds before setting up the off-white backgrounds they were supposed to have for this set. I worked on Inigo's for so long trying to edit out lossy pixels around the edges of his art that the editor crashed on me. Hurray for autorecovery

Some backstory for the Hard-Boiled Heavies in the Sonic IDW/Pokemon Crossover

When the Elite Eggrobo Squad un-earthed the Phantom Ruby it gave them all immense power and knocked a couple of screws loose.

However this is how Dr. Eggman described what happened, as what really happened is that the Phantom Ruby ended up giving the Hard-Boiled Heavies personalites, and the ability too think for themselves.

As Eggrobos they were driven only by there orders from Dr.Eggman, as the Hard-Boilded Heavies they gained the ability too think and adept, which was only held by a few of Dr.Eggman's creations.

How the Phantom Ruby did this unknown however it is possible that the Ruby disrupted what ever code kept them completely bound too Dr. Eggman along with imparting personalities upon the Heavies

The Phantom Ruby did cause Heavy King to sort of betray Dr. Eggman as Heavy King too control of the situation when he realized that Dr. Eggman's plans were failing in Mania. Heavey King wanted too take control of the situation and try and beat Sonic for Dr. Eggman and took the Phantom Ruby too try and do so. However Heavy King did not realize that he was slowly losing control too the Phantom Ruby which was trying too take over Heavy King's body. Later revalations about the Phantom Ruby would reveal that it would try and take over a host body or compel some one that had been granted it's power too do it's bidding which is what the Ruby did too Heavy King. Why is unknown perhaps the reality agumenting power the Ruby held was far more sinister than originally thought or maybe it is something else entirely?

After the events of Mania the Heavies were rebuilt, Dr. Eggman put in codes to keep the Heavies loyal too him, the code did not work and the Heavies kept there personalities and ability too think. However since a great deal of the Ruby's energy had disapated by this point and the Ruby was gone all the Heavies lost a lot of there more destructive tendencies and were all a lot more calm now and for the most part followed Dr. Eggman's orders.

They were all loyal too Dr. Eggman especially Heavy King and the Heavies helped Dr. Eggman on many of his schemes even though they always failed.

However one day the Heavies were all just… thrown away. Dr. Eggman saw them all as failures and refused too have useless robots around. The Heavies were all broken from a major battle with Sonic and Friends and despite being retrieved by Dr. Eggman were thown out into the Jungle left too rust and be forgotten.

The loyalty of the Hard-Boiled Heavies meant nothing to Dr. Eggman and the Heavies soon began too rust and shatter from the elements and would have been lost too time….

If not for one adventurous youth and the Pokémon finding them all in that Jungle

A little trivia I came up with

Shinobi likes too speak in Haikus when ever he can and really likes frogs

Rider actually admires Sonic for his Daredevil attitude and wishes too race against Sonic

Magician loves too watch old performances from famous Magicians and was inspired by some too start working on amazing card tricks and techniques.

It should also be noted that Magician can not be beat when playing cards, she could run a casino out of business by playing Black Jack alone

Gunner can fly on his own but really likes too hang of the side of his Helicopter, this is because Gunner loves too watch those 90's action heroes movies and thinks 90's action heroes stuff is some of the coolest stuff out there and tries too replicate it when ever he can

King loves Tactic based videogames with one his favorite videogames being Fire Emblem

Shinobi, Gunner, Magician, and King all agree that Rider is the best at Kart Racer Video Games

Rider can always be seen with her Motobug companion Jimmy

Shinobi is fantastic at making origami creations and even made origami replicas of all the Heavies

Gunner loves fighting games and has figures of some of his favorite fighting game characters

King has fantastic Bojutsu skills most likely because his main weapon is a Spector

King loves too watch shows that have royalty as the main characters

Gunner and Rider are both surprisingly very good mechanics, most likely because Gunner and Rider are always taking care and improving the Helicopter and Motobug Jimmy

I LOVE what you got here. Honestly won't be surprised if the Phantom Ruby had a corruption sort of effect. I grew up with the Kirby series so any powerful artifact with unknown or ominous origins shouldn't be fully trusted. *Looks at the Master Crown*

I can see Sonic indulging Rider in fun races from time to time. The Hard Boiled Heavies would definitely get along with a good chunk of Trainer's Pokemon. Especially those who match their interests or abilities.

Roleplay/Writing:

I have been roleplaying/writing since about 15/16, so I have a few years of writing experience creating OCs and writing out RP Ideas. I went on an extended hiatus as I finished university and took time off to deal with my mental health as I settled into a new routine. I am currently not outright seeking RP partners as I slowly find the time to write again, but I am open to people reaching out to discuss their OCs and RP ideas!

I am such a recluse who will binge fanart, headcanons, and fanfics - I love listening to people talk about their OCs, Fanfics, AUs, and the works. If you share my hyperfixations, don't hesitate to infodump! I might get distracted and forget to respond- but I WILL respond.

Nintendo has been slowly beefing up its library of games available to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. 

What began as a library of just 20 NES games has grown to include dozens more. Plus, Nintendo has since introduced SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, and even Sega Genesis games, giving players a chance to play some fan-favorite classics and some deep cuts, too. It’s hard to predict when new games might arrive as the company has maintained a somewhat inconsistent cadence in doing so, but that’s okay because this list is all you need.

Despite making up 1/13th of the classes you can choose in D&D 5E, Bards are responsible for 75% of my hatred of modern D&D players who are all weird quirky they-them girls who listen to pop punk and used to be tumblr kinnies, now Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy 14 players, who love TAZ and Critical Role and other "totally not scripted" series, and think the height of comedy is derailing everything to hit on everything with a pulse and singing MCR songs because they are just that witty and charming, thinking they're somewhere between Jack Sparrow and Frank Sinatra, and not realizing that outside of the rare socialization they get at anime cons, their behavior is so annoying that any sane player would slit their throat in their sleep.

There's at least a small element of wish fulfilment and escapism to any tabletop game, but whereas the average player is thinking "well, in real life I'm not a sword-swinging, spell-slinging badass with no responsibilities who gets to roam the world with my friends, having adventures, saving the helpless, and getting famous and filthy rich doing it", the average bard player is thinking "well, in real life I'm not constantly at all fucking times the center of attention who gets the fuck whoever I want and 'seduce' my way out of ever facing consequences for anything ". Granted, there's also the element that so many new players learned what a game should look like from watching some scripted live play run by washout thespians, meaning that instead of trying to have fun and help everyone else at the table have fun, they're playing to entertain an audience that isn't there.

It's almost a shame about bards, because while yes a dickhead who prances around casting magic by playing a lute (or a dwarven electric guitar, if the player is both incredibly funny and original) is lame and annoying even before contrasting it with the rest of the party of pulp fantasy action heroes whose other casters are holy zealots and mystical scholars, there is a shred of potential in like, Tolkien-style songs of power or speaking the primal language of creation to produce magical effects, or like a sage, dignified Athenian philosopher type whose "inspiration" mechanic is him weaving his illusion magic into the words of calm, reassuring wisdom he gives his party members, the whole class is so tainted by nonsense both mechanically and by association that I want nothing to do with it

Entry 51: Waiting 37 Turns for a Character I Hate

Paralogue 13: After the End

Subaki and Hayato travel through the dark, creepy forest where Hayato’s daughter Rhajat lives. After seeing an army of faceless, Hayato explains that Rhajat experiments with the dark arts and summoned the faceless to be her minions. We then get a good look at Rhajat and

Oh god.

Oh no.

So Rhajat is just Tharja from Awakening. And Tharja, the obsessive evil fanservice Yandere she is, wasn’t my first pick for a character to reappear. I did personally enjoy a lot of the black comedy from Tharja, but the obsessiveness with Robin got old and made her unbearable in romantic Supports. She was also heavily used for fanservice, leading to her being one of the Awakening characters with the most appearances in other games, despite characters with much more depth existing.

Fortunately for everyone who hated Tharja, you can recruit Rhajat by beating her up. Alternatively, you can talk to her with Hayato and have him tell her to cut it out. But where’s the fun in that?

Similar to Leo’s boss chapter, this map is filled with faceless and poison bogs. To be honest, I kinda find faceless chapters to be boring; the lack of a weapon triangle makes fighting them less strategic. It was made worse in this one by the constant reinforcements that don’t stop when Rhajat gets KOd. I decided to ignore closing up the enemy-respawning bogs, figuring that I could take out the army on my own. After being surrounded by fifty faceless, I realized that was dumb.

So anyway 37 turns later, Hayato lectures Rhajat on summoning unholy abominations and recruits her so he can keep an eye on her. Subaki and Rhajat joke about making potions to make Hayato taller and less childish.

Also, Corrin saves Rhajat from a faceless so she’s in love with her now and wants to stalk her forever. Yay. And, fun fact, the dialogue does change if Corrin is Rhajat’s mother, but it’s still every bit as creepy and obsessive.

Rhajat

Tharja from Awakening. A creepy, obsessive, yandere Dark Mage. Or, more accurately, a yandere Diviner, because dark magic is a Nohrian thing. I got enough Tharja from Awakening and Heroes, so I’m not too fond of Tharja coming back. At least the fact that she’s a child means she won’t be abusive this time. Her personal skill, Vendetta, makes her do extra damage if she fights an enemy multiple times.

Support: Hayato/Rhajat

C: Hayato lectures Rhajay on how she needs to be more social. Rhajat ignores him because he's just a kid.

B: Rhajat explains that she is actually older than her father because of all her time in the Deeprealms.

A: Hayato apologizes for leaving her alone for so long and calls himself a selfish child. He says he'll always love her, regardless of how old she gets.

Review: Actually a genuinely good Support, surprisingly enough. It examines a logical end result of this game’s stupid stupid fucking story and uses it to have a bittersweet Support. Giving it to Hayato is especially fitting.

Support: Rhajat/Mother

C: Rhaja performs a "good luck" spell on a bunch of villagers. All of them get sick. Her mother asks her if she made them sick by accident and tells her to fix it so they won't fear her. Rhajat says people will fear her anyway, so what's the point?

B: Rhajat's mother attempts to help the villagers without Rhajat finding out.

A: Rhajat reveals that she isn't to blame and creates an herb that cures the villagers. Rhajat says that she didn't explain jack shit because she doesn't care what the villagers think of her, only that her mother trusts her.

Review: This one is kinda weird, to be honest. Rhajat doesn’t exonerate herself and is upset that her mother doesn’t trust her, despite the fact that her Paralogue has her potentially killing members of our army by accident. Rhajat should be viewed with suspicion!

Support: Corrin/Rhajat

C: Rhajat stares at her soulmate, Corrin.

B: Rhajat stalks Corrin, giggling. Rhajat reveals that Corrin saved her once before Paralogue 13, when she was a little girl and fell off a cliff.

A: Corrin apologizes for being creeped out by Rhajat stalking them. This is not the type of thing you should apologize for. This is not a healthy Support.

S: Rhajat says she'll stop stalking Corrin. Corrin says that Rhajat should keep stalking, because they enjoy it. They get married.

Review: Yeah, no. This one is creepy, not cute.

Now you may be thinking, wait a minute, this dumb fucking blog writer mislabelled that Support! The male Corrin/child unit Supports are normally labeled Moron/Whatever. The thing is, both genders of Corrin have identical Supports with Rhajat. Including the S-Rank.

Rhajat and Corrin are both canonically bisexual. So is Niles from Conquest, by the way. Fates was the first Fire Emblem game, after twenty-five years and thirteen other installments, to feature openly LGBT characters. And I mean...representation is good. As a concept, representation is good. This game’s representation is very very bad, though.

It’s kinda shitty that the first openly bisexual Fire Emblem character is a vaguely evil stalker yandere. It plays into a ton of quite frankly horrible stereotypes. And Niles isn’t too much better. And oh god, do not get me started on Soleil.

It’s good this game had representation. But goddamn is the representation awful. And it’s made worse that it only comes in the form of two characters, one barely relevant to the plot, who just reuse their conversations with Corrin of the opposite sex. It’s an afterthought, really.

I don’t know enough about Japanese politics to speak with confidence on this issue; from what I’ve heard, gay rights were a bit more controversial there in 2015 than in the US. But also, who gives a shit? It’s the job of an artist to go against social norms. If society says that having gay characters that aren’t stereotypes is wrong, then fuck society.

Fortunately, Three Houses had better representation. Not good representation, it’s a lot of the same stuff in this game. But at least it’s slightly better.

Oh, one more thing on this Support. I don’t normally talk about the Japanese version of this game, both because I don’t know much about it and because this is focused on the English translation. That said, I do know that the Japanese version of this Support implies that Robin and Tharja from Awakening are reincarnations of Corrin and Rhajat, respectively. And that’s kinda dumb. Rhajat is a recycled Tharja, but Corrin and Robin have nothing in common besides being protagonists. Also, that makes the question of when this game takes place in relation to Awakening even more complicated.

And, with that, we are out of Portal Babies! Time to play Conquest.

Fire Emblem AU

Dream’s route is called Fern Lake, so let’s talk about it

You only get in this route when you side with Dream against DreamXd after Dream reveals himself as The Green Demon

Resulting in The Green Gators and who Eve else you recruited running from the monastery to a fort to prepare for battle

Dream is insistent on keeping his friends around specifically so that they can keep him in check. So he form The Green Gators Batallion, one of the most elite armies in The SMP

Dream keeps his attachments so that he doesn’t lose himself

Cue battle at The Monastery. Karl falls off cliff and gets in a coma for five years

Cue post timeskip stuff!

Pretty much everyone in The Blue Anteaters has a high chance of dying

Wilbur and Tommy definitely die

Their first objective is to eliminate The Badlands and then go after L’Manberg and The Church

Because L’Manberg and The Church have been working together

So first they go through L’Manberg’s army at The Prime Wall, being led by Ant

You can kill Ant here if you need to

SMP conquers Prime Wall and moves on to the capital of The Badlands, Pandora an extremely well defended city

Listen the Wiki says Pandora’s Vault is in The Badlands and I am not letting that name go to waste

Sam is here and if you recruited him pre timeskip he can join your side here. If he isn’t recruited you can’t bring him to your side

He can still die though

Skeppy and Bad are definitely here and Skeppy is one of those enemies who you don’t want to kill

But he’s pretty hard to avoid, so he’s one of those units you have to actively avoid not killing

Bad has a sad quote if Skeppy dies that will make you feel bad

Either way you win and get to choose if you with kill or spare Bad

With Bad asking Dream to spare his kingdom any more bloodshed and that he’s already arranged for The Badlands to work with SMP

Canonically you spare him and he has to go to Errata

After that’s done they go back to The Monastery to regroup

Leaving out the chapter where The Monastery is attacked because I don’t have anyone to fill in for Seteth and Flayn and the main purpose of the fight is to take care of them

In order to get to L’Manberg’s capital they first have to go through The White City

This is where Blue Anteater casualties start coming in

Any of The Blue Anteaters besides Wilbur and Tommy could be recruited so keep that in mind

Should also start sending in recurieted Blue Anteaters for that special dialogue

Eret and Jack are leading the armies here if you didn’t recureit them and you have to kill them

So Green Gators Battalion takes The White City and heads to the capital of L’Manberg, Party Island

Called an “Island” because it’s surround by water

I’m trying to make these names work bear with me

There are very few place on The SMP wiki that don’t sound ridiculous

Before that can happen Wilbur and DreamXd make a plan

Wilbur’s forces will intercept Dream’s forces at The Field of Fame

Wilbur agrees that he won’t kill Karl because DreamXd wants to do it

And Wilbur really want to kill Dream

So The Battle of Fame begins

Wilbur and Tommy definitely die in this battle, no way around it

Tubbo has absolutely dreaded this. Clingy Duo angst ahoy!

Whichever unit kills Tommy Wilbur immediately goes after them

Same if Wilbur is killed first for Tommy

The others are horrified when they fight demonic beasts on the battlefield and realize that Wilbur’s forces have turned themselves into these things

And especially horrified when Tommy is defeated and he transforms himself into a beast right in front of them using a crest stone

Tubbo begs Karl to put down Tommy because dying would be better than being stuck like that

Ultimately it would most likely end with Tommy being killd first

And then Wilbur being killed by Dream in a cutscene

Where Wilbur is cursing Dream and Dream is legitimately regretful about having to kill him

Because he knows that Wilbur could’ve been an honorable ruler but their ideals just didn’t line up

This results in DreamXd, now is his Twitch form, retreating to Party Island

So SMP army makes a mad dash towards Party Island for the final fight

Twitch has basically completely snapped by this point, completely obsessed with having his revenge on Karl

Resulting in Twitch taking his dragon form and setting fire to Party Island

With Niki and Fundy both there as commanders who don’t care what happens anymore

They just want The SMP to stop taking everything they care about and they don’t care what they have to do to make them stop

So final battle is in the fire of Party Island and taking down the dragon Twitch

And Dream proving that the world doesn’t need to depend on gods anymore

Basically the route is very anti-hero esque

With the most potential bloodshed

It’s also shorter because The SMP had already pushed the rest of Carmine into a stalemate

In the other route Karl helps the underdog nations rise up and win the war

However here Karl just makes The SMP even stronger in order to decimate everyone

The Eggpire is kinda talked about as a thing they’ll take care of after the war

The Blue Anteaters who are recurieted stick together because they understand the pain of their nation falling apart

Dream is focused on getting it done as fast as possible because he is very aware that he doesn’t have a lot of time left

Everyone knows about Dream’s two crest situation by know

So yeah very morally ambiguous route

But it’s fun for people who like The Green Gators or playing the other side of most fire emblem games. That is to say The Empire who starts a war

OH man. This route is anti-hero esque and has a lot of angst behind it. Oh man this hurts. This hurts a lot and man, this sucks. It makes sense with the goal but man, there is so much bloodshed here. God.

you know what I just realized makes so much sense??

A Fire Emblem AU of MCYTs.

because minecraft is literally filled with enchantments and all sorts of weapons. all it's missing is lances and we'd have the weapon triangle.

Basically Tommy is a Lord (or Hero, but basically the Lord of the game is what I mean), Tubbo a Mage, Ranboo a hybrid (similar Manaketes or Taguels and the like except enderian, most likely with an ender pearl or enderstone to transform into a full-out enderman for combat), etc.

Technoblade would make a powerful Armored Knight. Philza could use a beaststone or be one of those winged units like from Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn, since he can clearly wield swords well. Puffy could be a literal pirate. Wilbur could be a Bard (Like Dancer, but male), who can help units advance again during the same turn by playing his guitar.

Niki would make a powerful Pegasus Knight. Jack Manifold could be a Cavalier or Fighter. Dream can be a Myrmidon or something similar to the Tactician from Awakening. George could be a cavalier or smth (although it would be interesting if George wasn't a playable character but a recurring, important character who happened to be a manakete), Sapnap would make a sick Wyvern Rider. BadBoyHalo could be one too, but it would also be interesting to see him as a Dark Mage. Skeppy, easily, would be a Thief. That way he can promote into a Trickster, which is absolutely his personality in a Fire Emblem class.

There could also be new, custom classes made, too. For instance, Awesamdude could be a Crafter--someone who can fight with a sword OR lance (haven't decided which, and I emphasized on the or because some classes allow you to wield two or three weapons at a time and that isn't what I meant in this regard), while at the same time being able to take items that normally wouldn't be any good in battle that your characters find (like in Fates and Awakening when you happened upon sparkly spots and all you find is a log or tree branch or smth useless for battle) and combine them to create bigger, stronger weapons only they can wield. It would be an in-battle skill that would take up a turn, but the weapons and damage output would be damn-well worth it.

There could also be classes that reflect Minecraft mobs, such as Witch, Villager (which already exists, so that's a bonus), Husk, etc. A lot of the hostile mobs would only be playable by the enemies, especially zombies and skeletons and the like, but the idea for a Witch could be similar to that of a Crafter, except instead of weapons, you craft potions and wield tomes and/or staves. Or, or or or, staves can be replaced with potions. That would also balance out healing classes so that they could cause at least a little damage with instant-harm potions (or instant-healing, if they're fighting the undead).

And these are only the select few MCYTs I know off the top of my head. (Except for Foolish. Honestly, his brand is confusing and hard to work with. Totem of Undying and... shark? Really? I love you Foosh but how the hell am I supposed to make AUs out of that.)

Can you just imagine, though? Tommy sets off on a journey Alm-style and as he gathers a ragtag group of friends, they encounter supernatural enemies and entities that get stronger and more threatening, until they finally face off against the final boss. (Maybe the Ender Dragon or maybe a darker, more sinister entity--just because I don't want to vilify Ranboo's character in this AU.)
