More sleep deprivation thoughts: The ultimate catharsis in Caedus being a clone and the real Jacen turning up later is Jacen and Jaina maybe eventually getting to a point where they can both look back on Caedus's entire existence and laugh their asses off at how comically stupid he was.

Fandom ask thing!
How’s about 2, 3, 16, and 17?
Well, am I LATE in responding to this! Sorry, real life and my real ADHD brain came between me and answering these earlier. BUT I'M HERE NOW!! Shuffles through archive to find the actual questions so I can answer... 2. A headcanon you weren't sure about but have now come to like. Alien-genitalia Ahsoka. I've never minded the HC of Ahsoka being dual sex or having a penis at all, but my head used to spin at some of the ideas I read about. "What do you mean, she has a blue tendril?!?!" Now, I'm like, "c'mon, surprise me. Let's see what your imagination can cook up." Yes, I will continue to write my own Ahsoka as my vanilla genitalia, sorry guys. I never said I was the one with the imagination.
3. A character that fandom has helped you appreciate. Cali don't yell at me for this. Satine Kryze. I smashed through The Clone Wars whilst on a solo camping trip with my dog along the Australian eastern coastline last year. When it would get dark and the mosquitos would come out to play, my dog and I would retreat into my epic swag-tent in the back of my ute, and I'd watch TCW until I was ready to sleep. TBH I had come to TCW to learn more about Ahsoka and Bo-Katan having just met them in S2 of the Mandalorian. All the characters I then got to meet was a bonus SW education. Satine I enjoyed as a character, especially with her obvious modelling off Cate Blanchett's take on Queen Elizabeth I. But, I ended up rolling my eyes a bit at her being used as that trope of 'that tool to hurt Obi-Wan deeply but show he doesn't turn to the dark side'. Yes I still cried like a bitch when she died in his arms, but still. I'm sick of women being used as features to strengthen a man's story arc. It was through fandom *cough* the LesBo discord server *cough* that I learned to appreciate Satine more for her pacifism politics despite her own classic bubbling Mandalorian anger issues, as well as her deeply complex, tumultuous relationship with her younger sister, Bo-Katan. Satine, you deserved better, and I wish I appreciated you more in my first encounter with you. Time for a Clone Wars re-watch, I think.
16. A tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate. That the characters in SW grow up, grow old, and grow in and out of certain roles or stereotypes fandom like to place them in. I think it's that 'found family' doesn't need to represent the traditional Western family nucleus. I see so much of fandom calling Hera and Kanan the mum and dad of the Ghost crew, and I'm not saying that's wrong, but it doesn't allow the natural growth that characters are allowed to have as they get older. Or maybe more that, fandom doesn't allow the characters to grow out of that. Hera is a natural leader, and summarising it as 'mum' vibes does her an injustice, as people much older than her respect her leadership and follow her to hell and back because of her natural command presence, her compassion for the people she leads and her steadfast belief in their cause. People seem to forget that characters like Zeb or Mon Mothma, who are 15/20 years older than Hera, follow her lead in times of crisis or even just daily run-of-the-mill military operations. Hera was a runaway 18 year old girl with just her ship and her murderous droid verses the galaxy, and she ends up a General of the Rebellion/New Republic. That's more than mum vibes, that's BAMF vibes.
On the other side of the equation you have Sabine and Ezra, often depicted as Hera's 'children' in Rebels. Yet they become adults With only an 8 year age gap between Hera and Sabine, it's natural that Sabine would grow into more of a little-sister dynamic with Hera, which they try to show in the Ahsoka series with Jacen calling her 'Aunt Sabine'. But people seem to prefer still calling Sabine a 'girl-failure' of a kid rather than the traumatised, 30 year old adult woman with complex relationships she now is. Pigeon-holing characters into nuclear family roles I feel either permanently infantilizes some characters unfairly, or makes them the chronic 'mum/dad' characters that aren't allowed to be seen as fun, rule-breaking or sexy. The characters in SW grow up, are changed by their experiences, relationships and traumas, and I find that beautiful. I wish more people did too.
17. The thing in canon that everyone loves that you also love. Sabine Wren being an artist as well as a killing machine. It might be an odd thing for me to fixate on, but growing up in a left vs right political society, I was often ostracised for being in the military but also being queer, left-voting, a seamstress and creative. Apparently, two such components of my identity were not allowed to co-exist in the one person. So naturally, I found it a breath of fresh air seeing in Rebels, Sabine spray painting anti-Imperial graffiti on a wall one moment to shooting or blowing up bucketheads a moment later without blinking an eye. Her painted armour, literally bringing those two 'opposing' sides of her identity together that makes her who she is - love it so damn much.
Anyways, I've probably taken all these questions too seriously and have possibly also pissed off half of fandom with my take on these. But at least I've had fun doing so. 😂
Thanks for the ask!!

I know I always talk about how fond I am of Legends, but tbh as a teenager I stopped reading new stories (at least set after the original trilogy) partway through Legacy of the Force because I was so annoyed/angry that they made my favorite character, Jacen Solo, evil. Like legitimately, I was so into the EU that it losing me was quite an achievement. I think Jacen was one of my first blorbos lol. I loved him so much. He deserved better

Who’s the Best Pilot?
Tumblr media
In general, I tried to take someone's Force Talent into account and have that be somewhat weighed against them - Luke is probably equal to Wedge, Tycho and Sootnir (Which really should be the S Row, Vader alone in S+ cause the man was dogfighting at near lightspeed and everyone shifted down) but they're just humans were as he's a Jedi. Other times though, like the Force Users we do have at the top, they're just so overwhelmingly better then the people around them that they deserve to be that high up.
S+ —> Vader/Anakin, Wedge Antilles, Soontir Fel, Tycho Celchu
S —> Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Jaina Solo, Jagged Fel, Saesee Tiin, Corran Horn
A —> Hera Syndulla, Rey Skwaylker, Jacen Solo, Kylo Ren, Plo Koon, Poe Dameron, Kyp Durron, Pash Cracken, Ooryl Qyrgg
B —> Maarek Stele, Shea Hublin, Ventress, Ahsoka Tano, Gavin Darklighter, Bror Jace, Lowbacca, Din Djarin
C —> Tri-Fighters, Bo-Katan Kryze, Obi-Wan, Chirdaki, Che’ri, Biggs Darklighter, Shara Bey, Biggs Darklighter, Garven Dreis, Nien Nunb
D —> Clone Troopers, Ello Asty, Porkins, Jessika Pava, Varko Grey,  Inyri Forge, Aril Nunb, Rella Sol, Jake Farrel
F —> Vulture Droids, Cade Skywalker, Lujayne Forge, Eresi Delerit, Havina Vonreg

mischiefxmuses:
Tenel saw his eyes flash yellow for a moment and fear that maybe she couldn’t help him did grip her throat. “Don’t you dare leave Jacen. Us, your family, all of this is not something you get to just walk away from. If you try to leave I will tackle you to the floor in the hallway and we will have this conversation with you pinned to the floor under me.” Tenel had always been quite a fierce woman, speaking her mind, fighting for what she believed. But of course also being who she was she managed to get a little teasing playfulness in there. She was not going to give up or let him give up. Sometimes she wondered if she hadn’t left him to take her position as Queen mother if she would have been able to prevent this. She took his hand that was under his chin. “Look at me Jacen.” Her tone kind and gentle but still having that Tenel strength to it. “I am not denying what was done, it was dark and terrible but I also know that you have been granted a second chance. We all have. When you died, in those last moments you came back us. You saved myself and Allana. That moment proved to me that you were still the man I loved that he hadn’t been killed by Darth Caedus. The man who loved his family he was there, the one who managed to get me to laugh all those years ago. I was ready to give up on hope about you but that one moment it gave me hope. The hope I have here.” She stood up off the bed and stood in front of him. Her hand on his cheek. “They did see that yes. But you can change the narrative here. Rebuild your relationship with Allana. Be Jacen Solo and not Darth Caedus.” She kept looking into his eyes. “I am not going to let you give up on this second chance. Call me naive, idealistic, blinded by love but hope and as cheesy as it sounds love is what keeps us moving forward. I have hope for us and for our daughter. You are strong enough to fight it. And I will help. I promise.”
Tumblr media
he didn’t want to look at her. he didn’t want to see the look on her face while he was struggling with that same darkness. she was trying so hard to keep him grounded, did he even deserve it? though he stayed silent and let her speak to him. the words able to make it through a lot better than the last time. finally, he looked up at tenel. feeling a softness rise inside him once again. she was his light in the darkness. he wanted to feel like he was worth a second chance. but how could he feel like he deserved it when he caused so much pain to his family. he’s killed. tortured. tormented. “tenel. i believe you may be blinded by your love for me.” his jaw tensed as he raised his eyes to meet with hers. “how could you trust me?” he reached his hand down to hold onto hers. “how could you trust me when i would put our child in harms way?” he squeezed her hand softly while shaking his head. “i was not strong enough to fight it before, what makes you think that i can do that again?”

"May all your Dreams be Sweet, tonight... Safe upon your bed of Firelight... And know not of sadness, pain, or care... And when I dream I'll fly away and meet you there... Sleep... Sleep... Sleep......."
Lullaby for a Princess, PonyPhonic (lyrics slightly altered)
(artist thoughts and explanations under the cut, image id in alt text) (click for better quality)
Yeah so turns out I'm still not done with the Invincible x Lullaby for a Princess brainrot, who knew. I was never fully happy with the traditional version of this so i bit the bullet and made a digital version so i could finally convey just what I've been seeing in my mind ever since i first relistened to the damn song. (Well. One of several images. Idk don't be surprised if in like a year or something i come out with yet another version but with mini scenes from the rest of the mv im imagining. Maybe.) For the record i still don't actually like Invincible or suggest my particular intake of the EU but the muse has been holding me at lightsaber point on this one guys sorry.
As stated in this post, this is based on a scene from the Legacy of the Force novel Invincible, aka the final book in that particular series and the one that depicts the big Final Showdown between the Solo twins in the Legends timeline. Said epic battle conceptually provides amazing fodder for angst and emotional whump, if you're into that, especially when combined with equally Angsty songs (or songs with the potential to be equally Angsty). ...too bad it's not actually as well written a storyline as it had the potential to be 😑. Character assassination aside (rip Jacen Solo you deserved better), this scene has still lived rent-free in my head since i was, like, 10 or 12, so who really had the last laugh? (Me, it was me, cause none of it's canon anyways now so I've decided it's my city now and I'm giving Jacen the happy ending he deserves, actually, so there!)
For the record, i took some inspiration from the original cover art for Lullaby for a Princess when i fully rendered this piece, mainly with the spotlight and particle effects. I spent literal hours tweaking it to get the layout, text effects and background effects right, but i think it was worth it for this final product.
And here's an alternate version to show off the full lyrics that i hid in the background of the original, featuring a ghostly Jacen and Jaina.

“I have my problems with the Palpatine storyline, mainly because it’s just a ploy so Abrams could play with his favorite toys.”
Link to Quote/Article
In the beginning I was critical because they completely went another direction and completely erased all of the Solo children including the oldest twins Jacen and Jaina and the youngest Anakin Solo, as well as Luke’s son Ben Skywalker.
But throughout the trilogy though there are things that are questionable...I fell for Ben Solo’s character and I only wanted him to join Rey in the light in reverse of what his grandfather did with Padmé. Damn...I miss that boy with my whole heart.

No. What happened to Jacen was NOT better than Kylo Ren. Comparing the two is comparing the Titanic to the Hindenburg. Both are disasters. And Kylo at least had the advantage of being an original character whose fall to the Dark Side was there from day 1 as opposed to genuine character assassination.
Yeah alright, I'll give you this one. I actually went back to read my original post and was like "Damn Djem, you really said Kylo was worse?" because you are 100% right. I still have absolutely NO idea what they were thinking with Jacen's entire arc--character assassination is the perfect way to put it. Taking the Jacen Solo who went through the Vong War, especially with the way he ended a truly beautiful character arc, and then doing...that. Honestly, everything from his daughter (who legit made zero sense) to him becoming a GA officer to a sith--god, it was just so BAD. Although, to be fair, anything post NJO was just awful. Character assassination abounds. Having Jaina have to go learn how to fight from a fucking Mandalorian--she literally accidentally killed Tsavong Lah, I don't think she needs any assistance in the "how to kill people" department. And having her not be a pilot anymore, but just like, a random Jedi?? And I'm not even gonna touch the shit they pulled with Jag (although I'll grant you that is probably not high on anyone's priority list). Tbh the only thing worth reading post NJO is the Legacy comics about the Fel Empire--those were fantastic start to finish, and honestly did a better job with the Solo family legacy than any of the crap the books were churning out. It was straight up garbage, and deserved to be treated as such.
Disney is trash, but in a different way. Disney is trash in an uninspired, boring, corporate trash kind of way. Post NJO was just incompetence combined with shitty teamwork and bad authors (Karen Traviss was a fucking joke, lbr.) I still don't know wtf Troy Denning was smoking for the bug trilogy either. It was just...bad.

Seventeen years ago, Traveller’s Tales and Eidos Interactive reinvented the movie tie-in video game with Lego Star Wars: The Video Game. Not only did it have an appealing eye towards children, but also to older, more savvier fans of both franchises in mind. In the years to come, TT Games eventually bridged a generation gap with Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, lightning has definitely struck thrice with Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
The most anticipated video game of the year, as I call it in my opinion, ought to be hailed by critics as the best video game of the year. It has the feel of a classic comedy: sometimes it can be sophisticated, sometimes it can be funny, even the romantic, the tearjerking and even the scarier parts are pretty laughable, with large open worlds that put even Lego Dimensions to shame.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga can also be very thrilling at times, a kind of game that represents Lego artistry at its peak and you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy it.
I suppose if Siskel and Ebert were still here, they could have given the game two thumbs up. In my opinion, the game is on a level with a perfect version of Cyberpunk 2077 that even detractors of said game desire and I think it’s a legitimate candidate for consideration at the Game Developers Choice Awards. The award? Game of the Year.
I can agree with some people that The Skywalker Saga is breathtaking. This is up there with “Lego Lord of the Rings”, “Lego DC Super Villains”, even the original video game adaptation of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. A Lego game (especially one like this) has never even won a GotY award, or at least nominated to my knowledge. This should be the first.
Okay, those were my biased thoughts.
These are my honest thoughts:
I would personally recommend playing the game all the way up to Return of the Jedi if you’re a true Star Wars fan who has denied the existence of the Sequel Trilogy. However, if you think the game will improve on the Sequel Trilogy, go ahead, there’s no stopping you. In the case of the Prequel Trilogy, any attempts to improve or poke fun at it’s flaws are mild, and the dialogue (mostly in the cutscenes) is sadly the same. Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales, a TV series from 2015, did a better job at adding some idiosyncrasy to their adaptations of the original six movies. What it did was actually lampoon on the film’s flaws, both visually and in dialogue. Likewise, it too streamlined the story. The case with this game is tantamount, with several important elements missing due to the condensed amount of time the game is adapting. To make a long story short, the humor in this game is pretty subtle.
As the game is so slavishly devoted to the source material, it can be a bit jarring hearing the voice actors reciting the lines of their predecessors in the movies point for point, but for those cynical fans, Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker is something of an improvement on Hayden Christensen’s emotional range as seen in Episodes II and III. Personally, I think he deserves another shot away from George Lucas’ original direction. If you prefer making up your own dialogue as you watch the cutscenes, click on Mumble Mode.
Exploring the many worlds of the Star Wars universe is so exhilarating, if not a bit of a chore trying to collect those collectables, it makes you wish you could explore the entire Galaxy, even visiting places like Alderaan, Hosnian Prime, Dantooine, Kessel and other places from Canon and Legends if the former was even possible. In addition, some locations are not explorable.
Speaking of which, if Lego wanted to make a game that was more appealing and aimed to the older generation, a Lego game based on the old Expanded Universe would be very beneficial. Think of the possibilities: Dark Empire, the Thrawn Trilogy, the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Old Republic, even the adventures of Luke, Leia and Han’s original offspring Ben, Jania, Jacen and Anakin Solo. Would you want to play a game like that?
Gameplay is pretty similar to the earlier Lego games, but it has a bit of a JRPG flair with character upgrades, leveling and character bios found in the menu. Some characters like Anakin’s BFF Kitster are missing, but who am I to complain?
On another note, podracing and starship gameplay are no longer on a guiding rail against a 2.5D style of gameplay. Now they are reminiscent of the old Star Wars games by LucasArts. Now you are free to do as you please at any angle. You can go wherever you want to go on the map. You can do whatever you want to do as long as it’s possible in the game. You can be whoever you want to be...if there was a character customizer because, if there had been, I would have had a blast creating Ben Skywalker, the son of Luke, who in my view, should have been the real hero of the Sequel Trilogy.
But enough dissing on the sequels, I’ve enjoyed the game for what it is, and I hope that for many, many years, people will look back on this game as the Star Wars game to end all Star Wars games, but not the Lego game to end all Lego games.
