A Pile Of Canon Divergent Danganronpa Headcanons:

The students absolutely did not get along when they first enrolled, they were all legit getting on each others' nerves and every other day was a shouting match.

Byakuya doesn't mind Ultimate Impostor's presence most of the time, but there have been times when he was seriously creeped out by Impostor.

After they adopted Kotoko, Hifumi collected all his loli/shotacon and invited Kotoko to help him burn it. Seeing the damage adults did to Kotoko has him rethinking his tastes in manga altogether.

If Kiyotaka catches anyone running in the halls he will drag them to that person's starting point and make them walk back to their destination.

When Gonta inevitably found out that Hiyoko liked squishing ants, he sat her in front of the biggest anthill he could find and unloaded ant facts on her. This bored the habit right out of Hiyoko.

Everyone has accidentally locked themselves out of the school at least once.

Over time, everyone noticed that Mikan was tripping over less and less. Though she attributes it to learning balance from Sakura, she subconsciously knows it's because she doesn't need the attention anymore.

Mikan wants to cure Nagito's terminal illnesses, but fears that Nagito's luck would kill him if she does so.

Mikan cares deeply for the Warriors of Hope, and is a key player in their rehabilitation.

The virtual Jabberwock Island from Danganronpa S is still there...but the students actually built it to get away from their oppressive dickhead superiors that they hate. It has the 50 day summer camp mode for all of them, or a solo mode for anyone to set a specific amount of time within the virtual world to unwind.

[Very slowly lays hand on Masaru's head as to not trigger his trauma of being slapped] This boy can fit so many cuddles and kisses.

Jataro won't just let you hug him, the little mf will let you s q u i s h him into your body with all your love and might. As long as he can still breathe he will be happy and let you hold him.

Kirumi cracks pretty easy under stress. She doesn't lash out at everyone so much as she curls up against the nearest wall and rocks herself.

Don't ask Kirumi to reenact Jackass with you, or she will absolutely overcomplicate the assignment and seriously injure herself. She does not comprehend physical comedy, much less the line where physical comedy becomes everyone around her fearing for her life.

Ryota straight up lives in the walls along with the balding Monokuma from V3. Junko and Ultimate Impostor are the only ones who know, but neither of them have been successful at getting Ryota out of his shell.

Korekiyo has been given an intervention by all the girls at Hope's Peak. It ended with eight hours of group hugging. Korekiyo is feeling better now.

Korekiyo and Kirumi have routinely fought over the air conditioning.

Masaru will bite anyone at least once, but for reasons only known to himself, he likes biting clowns the most. He will hunt down any clown that appears in his field of vision and not stop until he gets a bite.

If Gonta finds any insect traps or insecticides, he throws them down the garbage chute.

Hajime is still Izuru, but it's an open secret. His classmates love him no matter what his identity is. <3

Reserve Course students weren't so chill about Izuru, however-they wanted Jin Kirigiri's BLOOD. And the Ultimates just kinda let them do it for treating their friend as a lab rat.

One winter when the heater broke everyone slept together in the gym until it was fixed. We're talking a pile of blankets that was three feet thick.

They legit would not trade each other for the world except for Kokichi and even then Suichi would still be sad about it

Mahiru doesn't like taking pictures of Ryoma because his weirdly large eyes reflect all the light and the result always looks terrifying.

Someone kept leaving a stuffed toy clown in random places around the school...until they adopted Masaru and he promptly bit the shit out of it.

Ibuki tried playing from the rooftop once. It took 8 hours to find her, 4 hours to coax her down, and 2 hours to soothe her afterwards.

Nanokumas like to move things around when nobody's looking.

All Ultimates are prone to getting the zoomies. It ranges from Leon running around in circles to Sakura almost leveling the school.

Reserve Course students like to observe the Ultimates because Ultimates are all stupid fucking dorks and watching them accidentally stir up chaos is great entertainment.

Hope Fragments appear when a student feels their happiest. It forms within the body and gets hacked up like a hairball.

Gonta routinely has nightmares about being caught in a venus flytrap.

Fuyuhiko has become aware of Yasuhiro's debt to his family, and holds it over his head.

Peko wonders if her parents know about her becoming an Ultimate.

Junko is trying really, really hard to feign apathy towards her classmates in the name of Despair, but no one buys it.

Mukuro and Peko like to spar together, and they're pretty evenly matched.

Miu is soft (by Miu standards) towards Chihiro.

Miu becomes very anxious and needy at the mere thought of graduating from Hope's Peak and moving away from her friends.

It's been some time since Monaca started living with them and Nagito revealing his... new hand. A couple of weeks ago, Makoto and Kyoko had visited them to inform them about the Neo World Program being under testing. Apparently, the Neo World Program is supposed to undo Junko's brainwashing and completely rehabilitate the Remnants of Despair.

Chiaki is a bit wary, simulations like that tend to have something go wrong with them, but despite that, she is excited. If there's a chance to save her old classmates and friends, she will take it, no matter the risk.

Right now, though, she has a more pressing matter.

Getting Nagito's chain collar off. She noticed he's been trying to scratch his neck a lot lately, but couldn't because of the collar. Unfortunately, Monaca lost the key during Bing Bang Monokuma's attack and picking it proved difficult, even for Izuru.

Didn't help that Nagito resisted their attempts at getting it off. Guess that's Ultimate Despair for you... They take pleasure in things they hate. It must be so uncomfortable. He'll probably get markings on his neck from all that chafing...

Everyone's sitting on the couch playing together. Today, Chiaki had set up her Gamecube and had started up Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. A fun 4-player game they can all enjoy. Nagito was having a bit of trouble, on account of only having one functioning hand, but was doing well enough. His Ultimate Luck may be to thank for that, or maybe he's just that good.

Unfortunately, their play session was interrupted by a notification coming from Chiaki's phone. "...Oh, it's work. I need to send in some reports, so we'll need to pause the game for a bit." In reply, Monaca started whining, "But we just got to the booooooss! Monaca doesn't want to stop playing. Big sis should ignore any Future Foundation work and continue playing with Monaca and Big Bro! ...Oh, and Mr. Stalker, I guess."

"Sorry, but I can't do that. I've been putting these reports off for a while already, so I really need to deliver them. Munakata-kun's gonna be mad if I put it off anymore." Chiaki put her controller on the table and stood up. As Monaca tried to grab at her skirt, Nagito gently laid his hand on the little girl's shoulder. "Now, now Monaca-san, don't be so impatient. Let's play another game for a little bit while Nanami-san does her work, alright? She unfortunately can't abandon her duty forever."

"Hmmm... Okay! But Mr. Stalker isn't allowed to play with us." Monaca brightened up instantly and made to swap over to the Switch. Chiaki didn't get to hear what they ended up deciding on, but could tell Monaca was happy with whatever she started playing.

She walked into the isolated corner she's fashioned into a make-shift office, and sat down at her desk to get started on those reports. After a few minutes had passed, she heard a knock on the door and steady, even steps heading to check who it was. Faintly hearing the door opening, she deciding to let Izuru handle it and focused back on the reports in front of her.

At least she planned to. "Hey! Nanami-san, Nanami-san! I've got great news! ...Ah, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to interrupt you while working! I'll just, uh, get back to you later...?" Makoto shouted as he burst into her office, almost completely covering up the sound of Kyoko dicussing something with Izuru and Nagito. ...With the occasional snide comment from Monaca. "No, it's alright. What did you come here for? Did something happen?"

"Yes! Or, um, kinda...? Nothing really 'happened' per say but... Anyway, it's good! Really good!"

"...Well, what is it then?" Chiaki was honestly getting a bit impatient, eager to get back to writing the reports so she can finally be done with them. "Um, I told you we were working on a way to undo Enoshima-san's brainwashing, right?"

"Yeah, the Neo World Program, right?"

"Yeah! It's finally operational! We can get started on rehabilitation now! Kirigiri-san and I have already made plans with Togami-kun to have the islands and the pods readied for the 15 of them! We've got boats and everything ready to sail them all over too! I don't know how no one has caught wind of it yet if I'm being honest, but everything's going super well!" His excited rambling almost managed to lose her with everything he was saying, but she somehow managed to keep up. Somehow, I doubt it's just that they haven't been caught. Someone must have noticed it by now, it's far too big an operation for no one to notice. Which means someone is trying to help cover it up. ...Could it be...?

"...Hey hey, slow down a bit. Islands? boats? Where exactly are you taking them, Naegi-kun?" Chiaki had a few questions regarding the plan, but decided to point out what she deemed most pressing. "Oh, sorry! I totally forgot to mention that! The server for the Neo World Program is located in a small archipelago in the Pacific Ocean consisting of six islands called 'Jabberwock Island'. Apparently, the Future Foundation reconstructed an old administration building on the central island into a base so they could rebuild the island." Why do you say that like you're reading it off a tourist guide? "...I'm not sure why they didn't go throught with that plan, but now we can use it to help the Remnants recover!"

"I see. And I guess you're planning on the Remnants continuing to live on the island after rehabilitation too?"

"Um, well, that's the plan, yeah! They... can't exactly just wander around freely, even after being freed of the brainwashing. The Future Foundation -no, not just the Future Foundation, the whole world wouldn't like it if we just... let them go. As much as I hate it, they did kill a lot of people. Rehabilitation can't undo all their crimes."

"...Yeah, I get that. They'll serve their time living on the island. ...Much preferable to prison, I'd say. Maybe... after enough time, they can get the opportunity to visit the rest of the world. Maybe they can help restore the world in exchange for getting to leave the island occasionally."

"...I hope we can get to that point. I'm just worried about if the Future Foundation will ever come to accept that they're rehabilitated, even long after the fact. These guys are a real stubborn sort, you know?" Makoto let out a sheepish laugh, trying to cheer himself up. "...Hey hey, are you going to stay on the island too?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, you'd need someone to watch over their recovery after the program... probably. Some of the Remnants don't seem to be doing so well, physically speaking. I ran into Owari-san during patrol some time ago and she... looked like she hadn't eaten a thing in weeks. And everyone has heard about the ones who traded their body parts for Enoshima-san's." Nagito's hand was a prime example of one such instance, but even that was far from the most disturbing one. ...Tsumiki-san will need to be kept a close eye on. Out of everyyone, her health will probably be the worst...

"Oh, yeah, you've got a point... I was considering it, but there's no way we'd get away with being gone so long. Of course, we'll take some time to watch over them after they first wake up from the program! But..."

Chiaki understood what he meant. As the leader of the 14th division, and the fact the Future Foundation already knows he has plans of some sort regarding the Remnants of Despair, there is no way he could just up an disappear. That said...

"Then, I'll do it."

In relation to your recent post, which Danganronpa character do you think Makima would get along with the most? Or, at least find amusing?

DR1: Kyoko, obviously. Though Kyoko wouldn’t trust her at all and definitely sense her strange intentions. They’d still work together very well, but Kyoko would be wary of her. (For Togami, I don’t think she’d find him interesting at all. She would probably put him in his place a lot, so he’d obviously dislike her back. They’d be incredibly antagonistic- hers passive aggressive, though. Lots of “um actually”s every chapter.)

DR2: the Imposter. Seems self explanatory again, but after they die, I think she’d find Komaeda interesting, as someone who also wants to create a world of “hope” in a way, but the fact he lets his ideals get in the way of things so obtusley would definitely annoy her. They’d be allies in some way (to further their own agendas) but not like one another, lots of passive aggression on both sides. She would find Hajime’s lack of a talent interesting. I think she would find that to be a key piece of the puzzle and most likely figure out the mystery before anyone else, and that would have changed her view of Hajime positively (a perfect creation to shape her world of perfection.) rather than negatively like it does Komaeda. She would take him under her “wing” the second she finds out. Actually, it’s similar to the Denji-CSM conundrum. She would find Hajime a plain boy with some good attributes but Izuru would be what she really cares about. But she would despise Junko and her ideology.

DR3: Kaede, actually. Again, she’s the one who gets the ducks in a row. Makima would see how capable she is. I think she would be very angry at this death because it makes her job harder. She would find Kirumi to be the closest person to her personality— they’d get shit done. After that, Kokichi for interesting points. She would be able to see through his evil shtick very easily and see his actual plan, which she would definitely find interesting, and most definitely participate in to some degree.

Byakuya lets himself into Makoto's house one morning. (He, Kyoko, and Makoto all have keys to each other's homes.)

Izuru is in the kitchen, cooking breakfast. He glances up in acknowledgement but doesn't say anything, and nor does Byakuya; he's here for Makoto, so they can go over a few things on the way to work. He just makes his way toward the bedroom like he owns the place.

Before he reaches the room, Nagito meets him in the hallway, coming from the opposite direction. "Oh, Togami! Good morning," he greets, smiling brightly but very much blocking his path with his body. "What brings you here?"

"Don't tell me he's still in bed." Byakuya tries to side-step around Nagito, but Nagito casually takes a sideways step, too, to continue blocking him.

"He's in the shower." (Byakuya knew this, because the shower is audibly running. He was just being snarky.) "If you don't mind waiting in the front, I'll go tell him you're here."

Byakuya rolls his eyes but doesn't bother to argue as Nagito turns and heads back into the bedroom and the bathroom beyond. He doesn't go wait in the front as asked. He stands in the hallway, tapping his foot. After a few seconds, he starts to hear moaning from the bathroom. That's about as expected; he didn't think Komaeda would miss the opportunity to show off.

It goes on for a while.

Byakuya scrolls idly on his phone until Nagito comes out again, pointedly licking his lips with a smug smile. "He'll be out in a minute."

"Did you tell him I'm here?" Byakuya goes ahead and sets up the usual punchline.

"Ah, sorry. It must've slipped my mind," Nagito says, poorly approximating the surprised look one might wear if one actually did suddenly realize that they'd forgotten something. "But like I said, he'll be out soon. I'm going to go have breakfast now, if you'll excuse me."

Nagito passes him en route to the kitchen, and Byakuya heads into the bedroom and catches Makoto getting dressed for work.

"Oh! G'morning," Makoto says, a lingering blush filling his cheeks. "I probably should've guessed you were here. I'll be ready in a minute."

"You are staying over at my house tonight," Byakuya informs him.

Makoto smiles, an unbearably soft sense of familiarity in the knowing, amused look in his eyes. "Okay."

(Byakuya's attempts to drag Makoto off to work as soon as he's dressed are thwarted by Izuru with a stern look and a full plate of breakfast.)

Headcanon A (realistic): Jataro isn't a total slob. When he's unmasked, he looks clean and pristine! Someone's making sure that this boy is washed and scrubbed and taken care of. My money's on Nagisa.

Headcanon B (while it may not be realistic it is hilarious): Jataro was low-key Junko's favorite Warrior of Hope to hang out with. His chatter is so unpredictable that even the Ultimate Analyst can't always guess the next thing he's gonna say. An unusually consistent source of that rarest of emotions for Junko, genuine surprise. She would gush about him to Izuru, who was not interested.

Headcanon C (heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends): The other Warriors of Hope weren't always so down on Jataro. How else would he be part of the friend group if they weren't friends once? But as the other Warriors started to thrive under the new state of affairs, Jataro's own self-esteem never improved. What once made him relatable and endearing now makes him creepy and unsociable - not to mention, a reminder of how pathetic they all once were.

Headcanon D (unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own): If you remove his mask you'll find another mask beneath it

feeling angsty and low-key kinda want to say junko kills you(or rather makes him kill you) so he can feel despair, but idk how well that would work,,, so i'll leave you with that

if you don't somehow die, and instead turn to despair then you'd end up cooped up in some room, or glued to junko's hip because that would cause the most despair
