I've taken a couple days to ruminate on episode 128 in comparison to chapter 298. Mainly because episode 128 has given me such mixed signals when it comes to studio Bones current objective.

In season four and five we saw a lot of bkdk scenes robbed completely or at least misportrayed in comparison to it's manga counter parts. And though I just made a whole post recently regarding the new found hope I had based on how Bones handled Katsuki Bakugo: Rising, the handling of this episode is beyond what I was anticipating.

Not only did they not cut bkdk scenes but they ADDED to them. In chapter 298, Bakugo does not wake up and whisper "Deku" and Sero does not put an emphasis on him remaining calm when hearing the news of Deku's condition. These are not completely off base, but they are /heavily emphasized/!

So what does this mean? We knew Bones was playing a long game when it came to season 4 and 5... But were they playing a longer game before that? With the existence of the new opening sequence AND these additional bkdk scenes at the same time, it makes me wonder...are they in on it? Is their lack of commentary on the bkdk dialogue NOT a dodge against bkdks but instead a dodge against mainstream? I've never considered this... But maybe it's time that we do.

The designs are very weird, I feel lost because at the same time that it seems "okay" it also seems like there's something wrong. Some detail is missing or just very strange...

Like Jirou appearing with both "ears" and then appearing again with just one

Here she appeared without any, and also Deku is drawn like this. I don't know if Horikoshi would draw him like this in the manga

I don't know much about drawing, but this scene seems weird to me. I can't explain it, if Horikoshi were to do it I think he would have chosen a different angle. I honestly don't know more nothing

If y'all are boiling down all of MHA and Horikoshis 10 years of labour and love down to which fictional character is fucking who, then you missed the point and it was all waisted on you.

I've been participating in Fandom across the board nearly 20 years and I PROMISE you - none of it matters and none of it changes.

The impact of the story on you, the impact of the characters on you, the way it has impacted your life doesn't change.

Are there things I am disappointed with? OF COURSE! When a story means so much to you no ending will be satisfying because you don't WANT it to end.

You participate in Fandom.

Remember Fandom is where we all come together to love something that impacted us. Fuck the details - we were all on this ride together.

On the brightest side of it, this is precisely what fanfiction is for, guys. I’d even argue the same for Izuchaco fans. Bkdk will never not be significant because of Kacchan and Deku. Period. MHA was special at all its peaks throughout the series bc of them in largest part. That is literally undeniable.

Have decided for myself that bkdk was the endgame, togachaco is a bonus, and I do not care for how the leaks water all that down :) will do my best to avoid the izuchaco discourse, and the avalanche of dissatisfaction the epilogue seems to have brought w it from so many different angles. Really wish it’d have been left alone as far as the initial ending — bc as much as I feel Zuku losing OFA walked back soooo many of his achievements, a lot of his development, and the more wholesome takeaway from the series about heroism and villainy — that blow was softened exponentially w bkdk leaning more canon. Now I….. now I just….. I’m just as lost for words as Kacchan is. Esp as to how this was the better or more desired alternative.
