I know that realistically you can only fit so many movies into a list of approximately 100, but I cannot take that "How many of tumblr's favorite movies have you seen?" list that's been going around seriously because there are some truly egregious omissions.

Some of it is very clearly recency bias, which makes me wonder if the op truly wasn't on here in 2013 or so, but you're telling me you made a list of "tumblr's favorite movies" that doesn't include Pacific Rim or Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, like, I was there, Gandalf.

Dabi - real name Touya

Kanji is 燈矢(とうや) meaning “light arrow”

One of the other readings for the first kanji is あかり (akari) which I think is a pretty good girl’s name, the second kanji only has the readings や (ya) and シ (shi) so it’s difficult to incorporate it keeping the kanji the same. I’d go with Akari for a kanji-based name.

If you want a near female approximation of Touya, I think Touka is good. Can keep the first kanji, and it has a similar sound. Like “Touka“ from Tokyo Ghoul lol

Hawks - real name Keigo

Kanji is 啓悟(けいご) meaning “enlightenment”

Tbh there is nothing to do with this kanji, you can’t make a feasible girl’s name out of them, so we have to go with a female approximation of Keigo. I’d probably pick Keiko because the sound is almost identical.

There are lots of LOV members so I’m not gonna try to do all of them, especially since many of them don’t go by their real names anyway. I can do Toga and Shigaraki, since they do use their names occasionally. I won’t give a full breakdown though, just my suggestions:

Toga’s first name is Himiko, kanji 被身子 meaning “sun child.” It’s difficult to do much with this since it’s very inherently feminine. I would go with Hinato, which keeps a similar meaning and an adjacent sound profile.

Shigaraki’s real first name is Tenko, kanji 転弧 meaning something like “twisting arc.” This is not a real name but I would use an alternate reading of the first kanji to make it sound more feminine and go with Maruko. But if you want to stick with Tomura as his first name, you could go with Tomiyo, a similar-sounding female name.

She would shoot Kira because her brother is an infamous criminal whose full name is known publicly, and would be in danger of being killed by Kira. I think she WOULD kill for her family under the right conditions. (Unlike her other brother Natsuo, who's more principled.)

This is very sweet- I am afraid I'm not in the fandom to be familiar with AUs, but dragons are always a favorite pick amongst reimaginings. There happens to be only one true dragon in this particular story... but I can show you the Todoroki's now that I have them finished- (I plotted them as a unit)

Dabi was the lynchpin design-and his family was built around him! They are all creatures of reincarnation, but with various meanings-

Canon Touya threw around some strong words about being reborn. The way he seems mentally stuck to his childhood, felt like a Phoenix who can't (or perhaps won't) allow himself to grow beyond a certain point, doomed to repeat his self-destruction. Like the other villains though - he's a little more morally grey in this story.

Firebird (Slavic) are often harbingers of either good fortune, doom- or unattainable goals in their tales. If that doesn't sound like Endeavor I'm not sure what does. They differ from phoenix in which they are 'always on fire', but they don't self immolate - they're just 'built like that'.

Tsurara onna (icicle woman) are created from the loneliness of single men during the winter time. When a man gazes longingly at a strong, beautiful icicle, they may appear. They disappear in the summer, and may reappear in winter. The love stories invariably end in tragedy. Considering Rei's dynamic to Enji, it felt fitting.

A Snegurochka (Russian- Snow Maiden) the fairytales often echo tsurara onna, of maiden that melts due to "shenanigans" (not always tied to love stories). 

Simurgh (Persian) is more of a reach - you can really dive into their different lore and variations, but they are similar to phoenix in which they also immolate to reincarnate after a very long time. They have connections to both fire and water.

There's no mythological creature equivalent of both fire and ice. In canon, Shoto is the only one who doesn't provide himself a hero title. It's just his name. So- I cheated, slightly he's the only undefined creature, but there's a number of creatures you could read him as if you wanted (he doesn't care).

... Dabi's pheonix fire also plays into forming the character Juzo (Not that anyone asked- this is reaaaaaaaallly reaching into the semantics on the yliaster, or prima materia that forms the philosophers stone- which mentions pheonix fire purification as a metaphor... ah don't worry about it).

Gashadokuro's are the scariest creature I could think of for a nomu.
