I love people calling Gwen a traitor so much because not only is she literally not that, and not only do her circumstances make her actions 100% understandable, but they also ignore that Miles following Gwen to Mumbattan is the reason she looses the Spot. Not saying Miles did anything unforgivable here, or even that his behavior is unreasonable given the situation (Miles and Gwen, in my opinion, make very well written decisions- they aren’t always ideal, but they make sense and it makes them, at least to me, really likable- they are flawed but trying their best), but the hypocrisy of some fans here utterly kills me.

Hot take here. I almost hate how Casey Jr exists. Bc the fandom really did replace rise's version of Casey Jones with him. But I think this demonstrates the internalized misogyny of the fans more than anything. Replace rise's Casey Jones with 2012!caseyjones and I almost guarantee you that we'd have waaaay more Casey Jones and Casey Jr content. Future Leo and Casey Jones raise Casey Jr together would be more of a thing. I really hate to blame misogyny bc I know majority of the fans here don't intend to be that way, but it's really telling given how the fandom treats (or forgets) rise's Casey Jones.

Like there are so many times I'll be reading fanfiction and Junior is there and the story will just not mention Cassandra at all? Where did she go? New Jersey?

Like she is the Casey Jones of ROTTMNT and Junior is her son. Now I love Junior as much as the next person, but can we at least give like even just a little line to Cassandra just like saying where she is in the story? It genuinely baffles me how people just seemingly forget her.

I've managed to curate my small misogyny-free space both online and in real life, and now I'm no longer used to misogyny, it's no longer normal to me. So when I accidentally glimpse it, I'm not desensitized to it, I'm always shocked and unbelieving.

If I notice a m*n talking about a woman like she's 'just some ***' I'm immediately aware that this is in fact a demonic creature who needs to be burned. If I see anyone using a slur against women or pretending women are at fault for any of the world's issues, the hair on my neck stands up at the unbelievable amount of hatred.

Anyone implying that women should be in any way controlled, punished, forced to do anything against their will or dedicate their lives to anyone but themselves, is preposterous and villainous to me, I'm at loss that someone could even think that way about a half of the human population who are creators and administrators of life.

I know I am in a bubble, but it feels different knowing deeply in your heart that all of this is not normal, that casual or normalized hatred against women is absolutely insane, that it's sharp and painful and dehumanizing at every turn. It's insane to realize that women just have to live like this, believing all of that is normal, that I once lived like this, wondering what was wrong with me and why I couldn't just be what everyone was expecting me to.

I think still, if I can make a small space without this hate present in it, without anyone or anything implying we should be anything but free, anything but full complete human beings with absolute control over our lives, then we can strengthen and grow these spaces, and get more women in, have more women experience what life is like when hatred is removed. There is hope for women.

Just in general I think trying to look to pre-late modern period history for validation of LGBT+ identities is an absolutely useless venture. Every single underlying human experience defined through the lens and framework of LGBT identity has always existed, but it's impossible to pin down Exactly who and what a figure might have been if they existed in this contemporary context and decided to self identify via these labels.

It's also a wildly reductive lens that flattens the complexity and variety of how sex and gender has been constructed across time in different cultures, how sexual norms have varied, etc. This is not a constructive approach to learn about history and you're never going to be able to fit historical figures neatly into little identity categories.

hey. when cis society is oppressing a trans man, what he is experiencing is. In Fact. misogyny. i'm sorry i know none of us like to be reminded of our agab, and it hurts whenever people perceive you as the wrong gender. but a cis person hate-criming, assaulting, verbally abusing, etc, a trans man is not doing "transandrophobia" because they do not perceive him as a man.

they perceive him as a woman failing at her gender, as a woman who has been seduced and lied to and manipulated because women are so easily led astray, just like it says in the bible. they perceive him as a woman who has been mutilated. they perceive him as a dyke that needs to be fixed. if they are hate-criming him because they *do* perceive him as a man, because he passes well enough they aren't thinking he could be trans, then they're doing so out of homophobia, perceiving him as a gay man, a pervert, a sissy, a danger to children. OR, they are being transphobic but specifically because they think he might be transfeminine instead. when cis society oppresses a trans woman, they are able to do it on multiple levels at once. She's a woman failing at her gender, a dyke that needs to be fixed. Or she's an evil and grotesque crossdressing pervert, a rude caricature, a danger to polite society. she will never be doing enough to escape oppression entirely, no matter if she gets every surgery she can and wears makeup every day and passes perfectly, because she lives under a patriarchy, and she's a woman, so she lives in a panopticon, and HAVING to get surgery and wear make-up to be respected IS oppression, especially if the alternative is being hate-crimed.

trans women (and trans men who pass) are not experiencing "transandrophobia" when a 'queer women and nbs" event turns them away at the door for being too masculine. they are. IN FACT!! experiencing the byproducts of misogyny in a patriarchy!!! where the terfs and coward cis women running those events and occupying those spaces have been taught (sometimes through experience, sometimes by men, sometimes by women) throughout life that men = stronger and more dangerous than women ALWAYS. That they need to protect themselves at all times and always be vigilant. That men and women can't be friends without sexual tension (and so as queer women the mere existence of what they perceive as a "man" is a threat). That women need a separate sports league because they can't possibly compete with someone who has even a little bit "extra" (an unquantifiable amount actually because there isn't a standard range) testosterone. i think if you read about the dance of the dragons, and your sole takeaway from that was that misogyny is bad, i don’t think you fully grasp what you read. is it very prevalent? yes, of course! but is it the only takeaway you should walk away with? i don’t think so. because you’re not realizing that a war between house targaryen would happen regardless. it wouldn’t matter if everyone kept their vows and stayed loyal to rhaenyra, it wouldn’t matter if her throne wasn’t usurped. a war between targaryens would happen regardless. it wouldn’t matter when it happened, or why. it just would, because power was the motivation for both factions. the desire for revenge and power started the dance, and it eventually burnt the realm. it killed the very thing that gave them such power, wiped out the very thing that allowed the conquerors to even set foot on westeros: dragons. and it was their children who paid for their sins. they are their own demise, and they caused their own decline in power until they are now nearly extinct.
