“Besides, I’ve been promised my great-great-grandfather's watch when I turn seventeen; he was wearing it when he got hit by a train--” across from James, Marlene, who had been vaguely tracking the conversation, choked on her juice, hitting her chest violently, “he was hit so hard, it cracked the diamond in the center of his watch and--”

“What the bleeding hell, Prongs…” Remus said through a laugh.

“What?! It’s history.”

“It’s fucking eight am,” Remus looked over at him, and Sirius snorted, a half smile on his face as James stared incredulously at his friends who weren’t quite so intrigued by the bit of Potter Family History as he was. 

“Okay, no, I think I told the story wrong. Allow me to start over, so years and years ago, on warm Wednesday in the middle of summer, not a cloud in the sky or breeze in sight, my great-great- grandfather was walking to the market and-”

Sirius put his hand over James’s mouth, gently, “Love, I think this is an afternoon story. Once Moony wakes up and can fully appreciate it.”

“Or never,” Marlene said, “Never works too.”

Sirius took his hand off James mouth, slowly, “I’ll hear it.”

“Thanks,” James grinned and nudged him, “But really.”

“I know, I know, I’ll send a second letter…” Sirius trailed off, “I just don’t get why.”

“Because we love you, and you’re seventeen.” James said and tapped the side of Sirius’s head, “How many times do I have to say that to you?”

“One more.” 

James stared at him directly in the eyes, grabbing both sides of Sirius’s face in his hand, smushing cheeks together, “We love you, and you’re seventeen.”

yknow AI art has ruined an entire genre of painting to me, i saw one of those smooth anime-realism pieces and immidiately thought ''ugh, AI art'' until i noticed it was posted by an established deviantart user 6 years ago. like ive never been a huge fan of that genre but it looks like a pretty difficult style to master and i feel bad for the artists who specialized in anime-realism only to have their entire market jacked by people typing keywords into midjourney.

having a child has taught me that every toddler is completely justified in their frustrations and tantrums because learning how to do something you have literally never encountered or heard of before is insane. and being expected to be completely calm in the face of this constant barrage of overwhelming information is doubly insane.

i got charlie a sticker activity book and it occurred to me i have to TEACH someone how to unpeel stickers. it's SKILL that requires DEXTERITY and FINE MOTOR ABILITY. i thought it was obvious that you have to curl the page a little bit to create a break in the cut so the sticker comes up.

obviously a fucking BABY wouldn't know that because they have no background experience to inform their thought process. OBVIOUSLY. and OBVIOUSLY the LITERAL BABY wouldn't get it right the first few times. it would OBVIOUSLY take practice. lots of it.

i hate this feeling. it's so obvious. why are children treated so badly when they're learning everything for the first fucking time. why do people treat children so horribly and expect so much. they're brand new. why didn't i get the same grace i give to my child? why did no one have patience for me? why, when it's this easy?
