My Year In Horror 😈🔪
Top 5 Horror Films of the Year
The Substance. Possibly my film of the year? An absolute powerhouse of satire and deliciously nasty body horror. Demi Moore really sold the tragedy of Elizabeth Sparkle and the whole film just worked beautifully.
Cuckoo. A very fun and odd film that both creeped me out and also made me belly laugh at certain points. I went into this knowing NOTHING about it and that really benefitted it I think.
Terrifier 3. Definitely the strongest of the trilogy thus far as it struck a balance between quality and efficiency. A proper gorefest which had me cringing and giggling in equal measure.
The First Omen. One of the first horrors I saw this year and still one of the best. It wears its references on its sleeves (Possession, 1981 my beloved) and I had NO expectations for a Omen prequel and yet it was fantastic.
Longlegs. A film with a great premise and some incredible set-up that only kinda lost its way towards the end of the third act. However, it was still incredibly good and deserves a place in my top 5.
Top 5 Horrorable Mentions (films which skirt the horror genre but don't fully fit)
Godzilla Minus One. My other contender for film of the year. I even went back to the cinema just to watch this in black and white like a classic film. Amazing and epic and deserving of all it's flowers.
I Saw The TV Glow. A film I had no idea what to expect from and it was so utterly beautiful and thought-provoking that I left with a nasty sense of existential dread in my chest.
Maxxxine. Again, the third act kinda went a wee bit wobbly but I really loved this entry into the series. Very enjoyable and a good few iconic moments littered throughout.
Joker: Folie A Deux. The words "fucking brilliant" and "absolute dogshit" can and should co-exist lmao. Prime example.
Abigail. Dan Stevens making a second appearance on this list today! This film is a great mixture of fun gore, genuinely funny moment, and an overall good time. Also Dan Stevens 🫠🫠🫠
Top 5 Scares of the Year
First Omen - Burnt Nun. A fantastic build-up of tension.
Cuckoo - Bike Scene. Just nasty and slow and fucking LOUD.
I Saw The TV Glow - Final scene. More of a visceral horror and genuinely upsetting.
Stopmotion - Ash Man. Rancid and wicked little beast.
Oddity - Golem. Get that thing in the fucking sea.
Top 5 Musical Moments
Immaculate - "The Red Queen Kills 7 Times". When the theme from this iconic giallo film kicked in it had me PUMPED.
Maxxxine - "Welcome to the Pleasure Dome". The use of this in the club scene made me genuinely grin because I adore this bop.
Godzilla Minus One - "Godzilla Theme". Not gonna lie, when this iconic theme finally dropped in the film I felt that shit in my fucking bones.
The Substance - "Pump It Up". This remix worked so well with the film and it's been a brainworm since I first heard it.
Terrifier 3 - "Art's Xmas Song". Just stupid shite and a fun Christmas banger.

Christmas Admirer
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Donnelly x reader warnings: language, argument, minor stalking. Look! I did a thing! Thank you for the ko-fi and the request!! I hope this lives up to expectations lol. Covers the "fight before xmas" square for bingo. I'm slowly getting back into it y'all! I wanted to get a lot more done for bingo but I hate to admit I don't think I'm gonna get much done, which sucks. I still have the creative spurts but I think I'm so wrapped up in NCIS that other characters have fallen down the list lol. I'll do my best to get the more developed ideas out for bingo! Love y'all!
The first time it happened, you didn’t think a thing about it. Liz always had new staff in the early fall, clerks, paralegals, assistants, secretaries, baby prosecutors that you hadn’t met yet. Those who had graduated college and wanted some on the job experience before law school, those who had graduated law school and were killing time before being able to write the Bar. There was never a shortage of strange faces around Hogan Place, so you breezed through the halls with no worries, a handful of files tucked under your arm and two coffees balanced in your hand as you approached her office door.
“I wouldn’t!” The voice rang out from the desk situated outside of Liz’s office and you stalled in your steps, letting out a small laugh.
“I’m sure it’s fine. She’s expecting me.”
“That was probably before she found out Anderson lied about having a warrant.” The man winced slightly and you let out a sigh right before Liz’s voice boomed through the glass, clearly upset and about to tear Anderson a new one.
“Guess so.” You dropped down into a chair opposite the man’s desk, placing the coffees down on it, files on your lap as you tugged out your phone. “This the only headache she’s had to deal with today?”
“Aside from the damage control that’ll go along with it, I think so.”
“Great.” Your head tilted back as you let out a groan, there went your dinner plans.
You didn’t catch it, the way his eyes were lingering on you, examining the folders in your lap, recognizing them as legal ones, an NYPD logo stamped on the second one in the pile just peeking its way out. How he was putting together that you were in the legal field, but no badge or gun meant you weren’t a cop. How casual you were in the space meant you’d been here plenty of times before. His gaze dragged up your body, watching your hand reach out for your coffee cup, nearly frowning that you were using your right, your left hidden under the pile of files and he’d have to resort to a verbal tactic to figure out more.
“How long has Anderson been in there?” You asked, swallowing down your coffee.
“Oh, uh? Only a few minutes before you got here.” He replied, “I could always take a message Mrs…?”
You barked out a laugh, turning toward him with a grin on your face, “please, it’s Ms. Parker.” He stuck his hand out over his desk and you took it, shaking while he smiled.
“Thomas, it’s nice to meet you.”
Your eyes surveyed him for a minute, flicking around the room before you spoke, “you got a nice looking name plate,” you gestured to the desk, “you’ve either been here a while or you’re planning on it.”
“Hoping to be.” He shifted in his chair, sitting more upright, “figured this was the best way to save up for law school.” He laughed awkwardly, “not that I’m freshly graduated or anything, I just didn’t figure things out right away, you know?”
“I do.” You laughed, glancing back towards Liz’s door where you could barely hear Anderson stammering along as she continued to lecture him.
“She always this intense?”
“Depends.” You picked up your coffee, taking another swig, “but Anderson… he’s annoying. He’s one of those ones that has an excuse for literally everything and none of them are valid. He’ll never own up to his actions or accept the consequences and shit like that pisses her off even more. If this case sinks, he’s done for.”
A small pause in the conversation while you both tried to eavesdrop and ignore the argument on the other side of the office wall before he spoke again, “sounds like you’ve known Donnelly a while.”
“Five years, give or take.” You replied, picking up your coffee again.
Though it was the last two that were the most significant, a year of back and fourth flirtation whenever you ran into each other until Melinda practically dragged you to some gala she was forced to attend and one thing led to another and confessions of true feelings were whispered into the night. You’d never expected to fall in love with someone like Liz and you’d definitely never thought someone like her would fall in love with you, yet here you were.
“Bet you know all the best ways to make it into her good books.” Thomas practically teased and you laughed.
“Work hard, pay attention, be ready on your feet and up to date as you can be on any open or upcoming cases. She’s big on loyalty, don’t let her catch you fraternizing with the enemy or sweet talking other departments or firms. If you’re thinking about switching jobs, let her know up front and she’ll give you the glowing recommendation you deserve, but if you do it behind her back, your options will be limited. Don’t be a suck up, but on a really bad day, the shrimp scampi from Forlini’s is a life saver,” you were suddenly cut off as the door flew open and Anderson came scurrying by without bothering to stop and you glanced back to Thomas, “and her coffee order is an Americano or drip with two packets of sweetener.” You picked up the untouched coffee, placing it down directly in front of him as you stood from your seat, “but I have a feeling she doesn’t need any more adrenaline boosts today and you just might.” You shot him a wink before scooping up your own coffee and stepping towards Liz’s ajar door, knocking on the frame.
“What?” She snapped as you pushed it open, offering her a warm smile and she let out a sigh from where she sat behind her desk, “sorry.”
“No need.” You swung the door shut behind you, moving through the room.
“What’re you doing here?” She asked softly, hand reaching out to squeeze at yours as you perched on the side of her desk.
“Had lunch with Sophie.” You shrugged, dropping the pile of files into her inbox, “figured I’d save her the ten minute drive.”
“One of these days you’re going to remember you’re a writer and not my assistant.” She teased as you leant down to steal a kiss.
“Speaking of…” you glanced behind you to the closed door, “you’ve got a new one.”
“He’s competent so far.” She sighed, leaning back in her chair, “unlike fucking Anderson.” You laughed, squeezing at her shoulder.
“He’s been in the hotseat for nearly a year, it’s about time they let him go.” You frowned slightly, “but I am guessing this means our dinner plans are off?”
Liz let out a heavy sigh, pinching at the bridge of her nose as she muttered “this is why I hate this job sometimes.” She glanced up at you, “yes.” Taking both of your hands in hers she smiled at you, “but that doesn’t mean I won’t spoil you. You go home, I’ll send dinner to your place, dessert too, and probably another million little gifts.”
“Liz, you really don’t have to.” You giggled, leaning down to kiss her.
“No sweetheart, I really do. We made these plans a while ago and I know how much you were looking forward to them.”
“Alright,” you slid off her desk, “fine. I’ll accept delicious, free dinner and treats but you better send me a picture of your dinner too, even if it’s in your office. I need you to not forget to eat.”
“And you really think you don’t take care of me?” She grinned up at you and you giggled again when she pulled you back to her for another kiss, “thank you for understanding.”
“Always.” You smiled, “and hey, don’t be too hard on that kid out there, he doesn’t seem so bad.”
“As long as he’s not Anderson.” She replied with an eye roll and you pulled the door open with a laugh, shooting a wave and a smile to Thomas as you sped through the office, leaving the room fast enough that you missed the way he ducked his gaze and his cheeks flushed pink.
**
The second time it happened, you were none the wiser, more focussed on getting your daily tasks done through the first snowfall of the year.
“God it is freezing out there.” You grumbled, letting out a little shiver as you shook the snow off your shoulders, “hope you guys have the heat on.” You reached out, placing a coffee cup down on Thomas’ desk.
“Got a portable one under my desk.” He replied with a slightly bashful smile.
“Good.” You shot him a wink, wrapping your hands around your own coffee and letting out a warm sigh.
“If it’s that cold out you should really have gloves on.”
“I know.” You groaned, rolling your eyes, “my friend’s dog chewed through my last pair this weekend, haven’t gotten around to a shopping trip yet.”
“She doesn’t give you any time off?” He asked with a frown, nodding toward Liz’s door and you laughed.
“She’s not my boss.” You tugged around in your purse for a moment, pulling out a business card, “I write kid’s books… well, primarily. I’ve been known to dabble into true crime too.”
He took the card from you, studying it for a minute before looking back up at you, “oh, that’s really cool. And… wildly different departments.”
You laughed, smiling softly at Thomas, “yeah, I guess they balance each other out well enough. Gotta splash some colour in that drab, cruel world, ya know?”
“Yeah.” He twirled the card around in his fingers, placing it down next to his cup of pens, “I’d love to pick your brain about it.”
“Really?” Your smile widened, taken aback by someone showing genuine interest into what you spent your time doing.
“Yeah. I’ll even buy you a drink, or a coffee, for your time? Tonight?”
“I can’t tonight.” Your nose scrunched and Thomas thought it was the cutest thing he’d seen all month, “got a thing. Friday?”
“Yeah, yeah! That’s perfect.”
“Well,” grinning, you gestured toward the card, “you’ve got my number.”
You scooped up your coffee, briefly knocking on Liz’s door before entering her office, letting the door swing shut behind you as you crossed the room.
“You’re late.” She chastised, half teasing while you leant over to kiss her cheek, your hand resting just past the collar of her shirt and she winced, “and your hands are freezing! What did I tell you about buying new gloves?”
“I’ll get around to it.” You rolled your eyes, laughing softly, “and how am I late if all I’m doing is playing errand boy for you?”
“Cleaners’ only open until three today.” She replied with a shrug pulling a claim ticket out of her desk and passing it to you.
“Good thing it’s only one then.” You replied with a grin, swiping the tag from her and popping it into your purse. “Your dress will be in one piece and ready to go at my place once you’re done here. You’ll have just enough time to go over your speech before we head out.”
“You’re a life saver.” She tugged you back to her to steal a kiss, wincing again at the temperature of your fingers. “Thank you.”
“Anytime.”
You got home with Liz’s dry cleaning over your arm and take out in your other (still bare) hand to find a gift bag sitting outside of your apartment door. You managed to scoop it up and once you got inside you discovered two pairs of very warm, cozy and luxurious gloves inside. A smile crept onto your cheeks and your body relaxed with warmth at the thought of Liz thinking of you on an already crammed busy day.
**
The third time you were slowly starting to pick up on it but brushed it off as friendliness. Thomas had agreed to buy you a drink to pick your brain over your work and you were more than excited to have someone who wasn’t your agent or publisher to talk to about the creative thoughts flying through your brain. You spent more than a few hours at a small table in the corner of a bar picking over appetizers and a few cocktails while you got to know each other a bit more. Thomas was new to town, spent the majority of his time working and thus didn’t really have a lot of friends in the city yet. You tried to pay for your half of the tab but he insisted it was his treat and you weren’t about to complain. When he offered to walk you home you figured he was just being friendly, cautious as a man should be about letting their companion go on alone at night in New York. You didn’t have to argue too much as you already had a car coming and assured that you would text once you were home safe.
**
The fourth time things started to happen you were so wrapped up in the holiday season you wouldn’t have noticed even if you had been looking for it. All of your shopping was done online to avoid crowded stores, there were small piles of packages outside your door daily, more Christmas cards than you could count flowing through your mail box. An array of little gifts from Liz, some signed with her initials, some wrapped with a ‘do not open until Christmas’ warnings, others bare in their Amazon boxes. Some were shipped, some were dropped off and it seemed to change every week.
Flowers, chocolates and candy were frequently left at your work desk, a treat for the entire office, trinkets from fans or avid readers, it was just what happened this time of year. It didn’t matter if it didn’t have a card, it was just a little boost to get through the cold snap and into the new year.
Figuring you should get a start on wrapping the gifts you were giving you started to sort through the boxes littered underneath the tree, finding a surprising amount of things that had been on your public wish list. You were stuck in an internal battle between setting a reminder to thank Liz in the morning or not mention anything considering they were likely supposed to be Christmas gifts and you eventually decided on the latter.
Just as you were finishing up, putting the final bow on the final present there was a knock at your door and you were surprised with dinner from your favourite place. You were a little taken a back with this one, considering it was one of the pricier places you really adored, but hey, it was Christmas time, Liz was working late and cancelled a date night, you weren’t going to complain about a pricey apology.
**
The fifth time it happened Thomas had been away from his desk when you arrived, you figured he was already gone for the night and headed straight to Liz’s office. That was where you discovered that she was having the utter day from hell, more than one prosecutor getting served thanks to playing out of line during their current cases. Meaning she now had to comb through both of their cases from start to where they were currently to find any violations, possibly take them over herself and help them find the appropriate counsel for the suits being filed.
She apologized profusely, promising that she would make it up to you later that weekend and you simply smiled, nodding gently and pressing a kiss to her cheek. You’d known what level of workload she had when you started dating and you reminded her that you knew this wasn’t exactly work from home over a glass of wine type of work. Reluctantly, you finally left her office, quietly shutting the door on your way out before your eyes flicked up and you spotted Thomas back at his desk beginning to pack things up.
“Figured you’d left already.” You greeted with a small smile.
“Oh, just a few last minute things she needed me to take over. Done now.” His eyes slowly raked up your body, taking in the heels, form fitting dress, jewelry and curled hair and he gulped, “you look… nice.”
“Thanks.” You huffed out a laugh, “dinner plans.”
“You didn’t get roped into this somehow, did you?” He asked, gesturing towards Liz’s office.
“Oh no.” You shook your head, pulling your phone out of your pocket when it pinged to read the text message and let out another sigh, “but my date did cancel on me.”
“Really? It’s practically Christmas.”
“Meh, happens.” You shrugged, pocketing your phone again.
“You know… I was just on my way out; my plan was leftover pizza. If you maybe wanted some company, we could grab a bite?” He offered and you hummed over it for a moment.
“You sure?”
“’Course.”
“That’d honestly be really nice, I’ve been cooped up alone in my home office all week and was looking forward to the company.” You glanced up to him, “but I’m paying this time!”
“Not after you got stood up.” He chuckled and you let out a small laugh.
“I had reservations at Trattoria Dell’Arte, it’s not exactly cheap. Let me get it.”
“Only if I take care of the drinks.”
“You’ve got yourself a deal.”
You likely would have noticed that he was flirting, not just being friendly if you hadn’t been so preoccupied up in your head. Between both of your jobs you and Liz hadn’t managed to see that much of each other recently and you were beginning to second guess yourself, thinking that she was simply just too tired to want to bother seeing you after a long week. That the extra work was a welcomed excuse to have to take a rain check yet again.
Instead you played nice, laughed at most of his jokes and contributed the best you could over dinner. Spending time with him wasn’t bad, he was decent enough company you didn’t mind it, you just would have preferred your girlfriend. He did try to snag the dinner bill but you were quicker, taking care of it on the way back from the restroom, leaving him with the agreed upon bottle of wine to settle up.
He once again offered to walk you home, or at least split a cab and you agreed on the latter considering it was a chillier night and you didn’t want either of you to get caught out in the snow. The heavier the incoming storm got, the fewer cabs there would be out on the streets, so it didn’t even cross your mind. You thought nothing of the rose he presented to you after you flagged down the cab considering the street peddler was pushy, the assertive in your face type that wouldn’t take no for an answer until you’d agreed to buy something from them. You’d even both laughed about it on the way home, talking about how guys like that used to target tourists more than the locals and when you reached your apartment you thanked him for the fun evening and hoped he had a great rest of his weekend.
With your back turned you missed the way his eyes followed you all the way up to the entrance to your building, a small smile on his cheeks as the fantasies began to play through his head, some of which were already playing out in real life right in front of him.
**
Stepping out of the cab you cautiously jogged up the stairs to Liz’s brownstone, careful to avoid the ice in your heels, coat open and flowing behind you as you briefly stopped to ring the bell before letting yourself in.
“I’ll be five minutes!” Her voice rang through from her upstairs office, “make yourself a drink.”
“Okay.” You called back, wiping off your shoes and shrugging off your coat to be hung on one of the hallway hooks.
Liz’s house was no stranger to you, it was your home away from home, a place you spent many weekends curled in her arms on the couch or tangled in her bedsheets as the sun crept in through the curtains. It felt homier that your apartment, the place you often opted to work from home when you needed to, the long days that she worked that you missed her, wanted to still feel surrounded by her even if she didn’t come home until long after you were asleep.
You crossed the living room to the bar cart, pouring yourself a gin and tonic to pass the time while she finished whatever it was she was doing. Sipping on the beverage you pulled your phone from your pocket, scrolling through a couple of apps and replying to a couple of messages while your gaze was distracted out the window, watching the snowfall start to get thicker, coating the streets with white fluff.
“Well don’t you look absolutely stunning.” Liz’s voice broke through the silence of the room and you turned back to her with a small laugh, the smile staying on your warm cheeks as she approached you. Her hand cupped your cheek, pulling you to her for a tender kiss that you couldn’t help but relax into.
“Thank you.” You smiled across at her, “figured I should look a little extra nice considering how many nights we’ve missed recently.”
“You know you don’t have to dress up for me.” Liz replied with a small smile, kissing your cheek gently as she squeezed at your hand, “but I do deeply appreciate it.” Her fingers tangled with yours, pulling your hand up to her lips to lay a kiss on the back of it.
“With the amount you spoil me it’s the least I could do.” You replied with a quiet laugh, draining your drink before placing the cup down on a side table. Liz hummed, her eyes dropping to your bracelet on the arm she still held up. Her gaze focused on it, eyes narrowing slightly as she examined it, her brow beginning to furrow. “What?” You asked, heart picking up in your chest as you watched her expression harden.
“This bracelet… it’s awfully personal.” Her hand dropped yours before circling your wrist, twisting your arm back and fourth to examine the jewelry.
“It’s my birthstone, yeah.” You laughed awkwardly “surrounded by yours.”
Her eyes examined it for a moment longer, pulling your wrist closer until she let out a small huff, “that’s not blue topaz, those are diamonds. They’re pulling the light from the sapphires, where did you get this?”
“You.” You chuckled again, feeling your heartbeat pick up in your chest, “one of those little secret Santa gifts you’ve been leaving.”
“It’s not from me.”
“Liz, there’ve been so many packages delivered I can’t even keep track of them, you probably ordered it months ago and forgot.”
“That’s Buccellati. I think I would remember spending that much money on you.” She scoffed, dropping your arm as she turned from you with an eye roll. “And half of those gifts were a don’t open until Christmas.”
“I just said I couldn’t keep track.” You retorted, feeling the annoyance beginning to build up through your veins.
“And I know that’s not from me.” She replied, frustration bubbling up inside of her, she’d been dealing with so much already she’d just wanted to have a nice night out and now this was ruining everything. Then again, maybe things had been ruined before she’d even realized, “diamonds mean someone born in April, or someone that likes you an awful lot and you don’t keep in touch with any family and not to offend but none of your friends could afford that.”
“I told you, it’s from you.” Your voice hardened and she laughed, shaking her head.
“Come on y/n, you’re better than that. That’s the oldest lie in the book.” She picked up a bottle of scotch, pouring out a few ounces and taking a swig as she spoke, “go around galivanting with someone else and when you get caught gaslight your partner into thinking it was them all along.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You’ve been so distant!” Her voice raised ever so lightly, tensing as she spoke, her mouth tightening in that all too familiar pissed off way. “I’ve barely seen you all month, you always wait until the morning to call me back, your texts are far and few in between and the few times I’ve tried to stop by your apartment you’re out! God.” She shook her head with a heavy laugh, “I don’t know how I didn’t put it together earlier that you were seeing someone else.”
“Did you just accuse me of cheating on you?!” Anger jolted through you as you immediately saw red, an offended scoff leaving your lips.
“Well how else would you explain it!?” Her hands flailed in your general direction.
“You’re the one who keeps cancelling fucking dates Liz! I’ve been completely accommodating of your work schedule and how demanding it’s been recently. You’ve barely seen me because you keep blowing me off! Sorry that I’m not at your beck and call, I was trying to give you space and time to regroup from work! I didn’t realize I was supposed to mope around my apartment and wait for you to find a sliver of time for me, sorry that I have other friends to spend time with who actually give a shit.”
“So you admit you’ve been seeing someone?”
“I’m not fucking doing this.” Your hands shot up in surrender, “you’re being insane all over a fucking bracelet.”
“A seven thousand dollar bracelet!” She snapped back, “what would you like to do, go through my bank records?”
“No.” Grabbing your coat you headed for the door, “you can do that yourself and wake up from this fucking delusion where I would cheat on you. I cannot believe you would ever accuse me of something like that, I thought you trusted me!”
The door was pulled open and you were halfway down the steps by the time she called after you, “fine! Walk out on another fucking date, no surprise there!”
**
Christmas Eve was finally upon you and instead of being out celebrating like you thought you would be, you were curled up in the bay window of your apartment watching the snow coat the city in a thick blanket. The remnants of Chinese takeout splayed across the coffee table while the television blared quietly in the background, some marathon of holiday movies still going.
Letting out a heavy sigh you picked up the bottle of wine from beside you, topping up your glass before taking a sip as your gaze redirected out into the night once again. You hadn’t heard from Liz in nearly two weeks, the two of you no doubt trapped in a game of ‘Say Uncle’, waiting for the other to admit they were wrong before any reconciling could begin. It wasn’t the first time you’d fought and if things started moving forward again you were certain it wouldn’t be the last, she was strong willed and always would be. You were hoping that this time in light of the holiday season maybe you would be getting an apology but it appeared she was digging her heels in, burying herself in work while trying to push the image of you with another woman out of her head rather than talking her way through it.
You’d spent some time thinking about it, imagining the last couple of months from Liz’s point of view and you were starting to maybe see where she was coming from. There had been more time apart than usual, more nights of cancelled dates spent apart rather than her coming home late from work to find you making her home warm and welcoming. You’d been busy, actually accepting the offers for holiday parties and meet ups with friends in town for the season rather than sitting around bored at home. But you reminded yourself that just because she might have had the excuse to be suspicious didn’t mean the argument and her accusation was justified.
Letting out another sigh as you sucked back your wine you were debating reheating some leftover Chinese, your stomach beginning to rumble when your attention was pulled to the door. Your head tilted for a moment, wondering if you were hearing things from the television or not but the second knocking came though loud and clear. A small groan escaped your lips as you untangled yourself from the blanket, stretching out stiff muscles as you padded through your apartment to the door, pulling it open to a very lavish bouquet of poinsettias and red and white roses, it was only after a moment that you realized who was holding it.
“Thomas?” You let out a huff, “seriously, she’s making you do her bidding on Christmas Eve? You deserve a break, and a raise. If she can’t be bothered to drop them off herself I don’t want them.”
“Her?” He asked with a tilt of the head.
“Liz.” You rolled your eyes, “I knew she liked having minions to do shit like this but this is so not cool.”
“Ms. Donnelly?” His nose scrunched, “no, these are from me.”
“Oh.” You stalled in your movement, taking a step back from the door to open it wider, “I guess… come in then.”
“Thanks.” He flashed you a smile, quickly stepping into the apartment, following you so he could place the bouquet down on the kitchen island.
“You know, you really didn’t have to bring me anything.”
“Well, you’re pretty big on Christmas, aren’t you?” He gestured around your apartment, eyes sweeping through the decorations, the large tree in the corner with piles of gifts wrapped underneath it, “everyone deserves a little bit of holiday cheer.”
“Yeah.” You sighed, smiling softly across from him.
“Besides, after I saw you were actually wearing the bracelet the last time you swung through the office I figured I should stop playing secret Santa and reveal myself.” His eyes flicked down to your wrist and a frown took over his face, “but… you’re not wearing it now.”
“Hmph,” you mumbled over a sip of wine, “Liz and I got into a big fight over it, kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.”
“Oh…” He stuttered a moment, wringing his hands while he gathered his words and you took another sip of your drink, “I thought it looked quite nice. You know, my birthday’s in April, always thought diamonds and sapphires complimented each other well.”
The wine glass in your hand paused halfway back to the kitchen island and you did your best to not let it show on your face as ice began to run through your veins. The wheels were spinning in your brain, trying to make it make sense and if there was ever a moment to trust your gut, you knew this was it. Before you could fully process everything Thomas spoke again,
“I like what you did with the shadowboxes,” he gestured to the wall above the television, “they had them in your favourite colour too, but I thought that might clash with the rest of the room. I’m glad the silver looks so nice.”
“Thanks…” The glass finally met the island gently as your fingers slipped off it, gripping the edge of the counter.
“Oh and that blanket!” His eyes lit up with excitement when he saw the one you’d previously been curled up in, “isn’t it the softest thing you’ve ever felt?” You nodded slowly, “bought one for myself when I picked it up.” He was nearly two steps into your living room by the time you found your voice, clearing your throat before you spoke.
“Hey Thomas…”
“Yeah?” He whipped around, a gleam in his eye and wide smile on his face.
“How did you know where I live?” You asked slowly, keeping your tone calm and cool in an attempt to keep him in the same mood he was in currently, completely unaware that the hair on the back of your neck was standing up.
“After our date at Trattoria we shared a cab.” He reminded you, “dropped you off first.”
“Date…” You nodded slowly, an unsure smile on your lips.
“Well,” he laughed, “I guess it would’ve been more of a date if you’d let me pay for dinner, but I’ll take what I can get.”
“Uh-huh.” You picked up your wine glass again, taking another sip as you watched him take in your apartment, “you know, my name’s not on a buzzer. You go knocking on everyone’s doors?”
“Nope.” He smiled brightly over at you, “told the cabbie to wait that night, wanting to make sure you got in alright. I saw your light flick on when you got in, just did my own investigative work to figure out which suite was yours.”
“I’ll add detective to your resume.” You gently teased and he chuckled, his fingers trailing over the back of your couch while his eyes dragged through your living room.
“Chow mein noodles…” he muttered, “I should’ve known.” He clicked his tongue, shaking his head at himself, “hope you didn’t mind the shanghai ones I had sent over.”
“Hmm?” Your brow raised in his direction as your stomach began to churn.
“A couple of weeks ago.” He laughed softly, “you said you were dreading cooking dinner so I thought I’d help out a bit.”
“That was you…” You asked with a breath, feeling your heart starting to thud heavily in your chest.
“Well yeah.” He smiled brightly, “who else would it be?”
“Tell me something… how many times have you sent stuff to my apartment?”
“Food? At least once a week, I mean, you can’t forget to eat, it’s important.”
“Sure is.”
“The other stuff? Depended.” He shrugged, “I figured it’s Christmas so you should get treated a little more than usual, flowers, treats. I went through your Amazon list,” he nodded toward the tree, “though I’m figuring some of that’s still under there.”
“Okay, but why?”
“Because you deserve it.” He stepped toward you and you fought every instinct in your brain to step back, not wanting to get a negative response out of him, “you’re so beautiful, so kind and sweet. I mean, it didn’t take much to fall in love with you.”
“Oh Thomas I—”
“Was I too secretive with my Santa game?” He laughed, “did you not realize they were all from me?”
“No.. no I did not.”
“Well, surprise.” He replied with a sheepish grin, “I was your secret admirer.”
“I didn’t even realize I had one.” You replied with an awkward laugh, praying that he would stay the two feet away from you he currently was.
“What’d you mean?” He asked, his face falling, “who did you think they were from?”
“Well, to be completely honest, Liz.”
“Ms. Donnelly?” His face scrunched, “why would any of them be from her?”
“Because I am her girlfriend.” Liz’s voice growled through the apartment and you jumped, having not realized the door had never been shut behind Thomas. You had no idea how long she had been standing there or how much she had heard but one thing was clear; she was absolutely livid. “What the hell do you think you’re doing here?”
“It’s practically Christmas.” He gestured around, “I thought that was the best time to make romantic declarations.”
“Is that so?” Liz asked, her brow raising before whatever was in her hands found home on the entry way table and a dark gleam took over her eyes. “How about I tell you what the best thing to do is right now?” She stepped towards him and he visibly gulped, “you’re going to get the hell out of here and you’re never going to set foot on this block ever again. If I so much as catch a glimpse of you attempting to nose your way into her life, I’ll sick Stabler on you, understood?”
“Yes Ms. Donnelly.” He nodded, shrinking around himself as he ducked his gaze, attempting to step around her to get over to the door.
“And I think it’s very clear you don’t need to show up at work after the holidays, you’re fired. Don’t expect any good references either.”
She followed him toward the door, making sure he was scurrying his way to the stairs before she swung it shut behind him, flicking the lock for extra security. Her eyes closed for a moment and she took a deep breath before turning to you, noticing the way you were clutching the counter so tight your knuckles were white.
“Are you alright?” She asked, her voice impeccably soft as she cautiously stepped toward you, a hand soothing its way up your arm and you looked up at her, a slight shake in your voice.
“Kinda feel like I’m gonna be sick.” You ran your hand over your face, letting out a low breath, “god I was so stupid, how could I not realize?” You leant back into the counter, “I really did think it was you sending me everything.”
“Everything?” Her brow raised as her arm wound around your waist, pulling you to her so she could leave a soft kiss on your temple. “It wasn’t just the flowers?”
You shook your head, rolling your eyes at the lavish bouquet that you wanted nothing more than to toss in the garbage, “he’s been sending me things for months, and I don’t even know what was him and what was you.”
“Has he been following you?” She asked, worry taking over her voice.
“I dunno.” You shrugged, “we split a cab after drinks one night, dropped me off first but who knows, that was probably part of the plan.”
“I thought I was going overboard mentioning Stabler but now I’m starting to think it may be a good idea.” Her eyes swept through your apartment, taking in all the new trinkets that hadn’t been there the last time she was, “I’m going to get him to run Thomas’ name, do a more thorough background check, and let’s get you out of here, you’re staying at my place until New Years.”
“Are you sure?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” She squeezed at your hand.
“You’re not…  mad anymore?” You asked and her face fell before she let out a weary sigh, shaking her head.
“Absolutely not. I was over worked and stressed and came to a very wrong conclusion when I should have seen how suspicious that was from a different angle.”
“You know I’d never cheat on you, right?” You couldn’t help the tears swimming into your eyes, both at the question and the fact that you were pretty shaken up considering your evening.
“Oh sweetheart.” Liz stepped forward again, her hands cupping your cheeks as she leant in to kiss you, her lips brushing against yours while she spoke, “of course I do. I know how much you love me and I love you even more than you could imagine. I’m so sorry I said those terrible things. You’re the greatest partner I could ask for, always so understanding when I have to shuffle things around, I should be praising the ground you walk on.”
“Okay well now you’re going overboard.” You let out a watery laugh, smiling as you leant forward to kiss her again.
“Nonsense.” She kissed the tip of your nose, “my girl deserves the absolute best.”
“The absolute best would be getting the fuck out of here; I feel like I need to burn half my belongings.” You shuddered and she squeezed at your shoulders, directing you toward the door.
“Grab what you need. We can come back in a couple of days to sort through everything and figure out what came from that creep and what I had sent over.”
“Okay.” You slipped into your coat, grabbing your bag grabbing Liz quickly before she ushered you out the door “thank you. I love you.”
“I love you more sweetheart.”
You’d fully calmed down a couple of hours later, curled up in Liz’s arms on her couch at her very comfortable and very private brownstone. A warm glow casted from the fully decorated tree in the corner, the main source of light in the room as Christmas movies played on the television and fluffy snowflakes drifted through the air outside. You let out a soft sigh, burrowing further into her embrace and in return her arm squeezed at you, her lips brushing against your hairline as the curved up into a smile. You both knew that no matter what the world threw at you, you had each other, you were safe and loved and there was no one else you’d rather spend the holidays or your lives with.

Transformers: Mosaic #567 - "The Gift Of Friendship"

wada sez: What do you mean, Christmas was a month ago? The Transformers: Mosaic archive train stops for no holiday. On deviantART, Reeves talked about the strip: “was a really rushed mosaic art wise but luckily we had a great (and super fast) colourist to help improve my rushed line art. and of course, franco's lettering skills are awesome considering there was so much text and such small panels. breast feeding flowers are always funny, as is 'angel bee' and finally we now have an answer to the question on all transfans lips- if prime has an energon axe in the cartoon, what energon weapon does cosmos have hiding behind his hand? an energon spade/trowel!! doubt anybody noticed, but ive got sideswipe beating up sunstreakier like he did in last years 'appreciation' xmas mosaic. sludge is a really annoying character to write about. it's awkward to read his narration when he has such a broken speech pattern, but you can't have him speak normally so trying to find a middle ground was challenging. [...] from the time i thought up the story to the final finished product i think took about a week and a half. never again.” He also shared his original idea for a Christmas strip, which he would’ve done if he “had more time”; I’ve mirrored it below, after Villa’s Italian translation of the strip.

festive mercy 'christmas: late night' starscream is in a security room at decepticon hq arguing with megatron. monitors show the decepticon party. various funny images such as laserbeak tied down on a plate like an xmas turkey.
screamer says "you have no right megatron! i deserve to be at the christmas celebration. not stuck on security detail" megatron says "deserve starscream? you deserve to be stamped down into sub-par decorations for your pitiful performance against prime earlier"
'earlier: christmas afternoon' outside in the snow prime is beating the shit out of starscream using a huge christmas tree prime says "you shall not ruin today for the humans starscream. not this day. not christmas day!" screamer says "mercy prime- i beg of you"
'christmas: early evening' decepticon hq party. starscream is obviously scared as the decepticons are running around. the decepticons have their head replaced by optimus heads. thundercracker says "merry xmas starscream" screamer says "eeep!!" screamer thinks 'everywhere i look i see his face'
now we see that the decepticons dont have prime heads- its just starscreams imagination. a decepticon is throwing up as others get drunk. screamer says "er yeah thundercracker. you too." screamer thinks 'my nerves are shot. i dont know how much longer i can bare this' megatron is watching starscream shake with fear megatron thinks 'look at him. the coward. however, when pushed, prime is an intimidating foe. perhaps his temperary fear is somewhat... understandable?' starscream is whispering (keep away keep away) as his fellow cons dance around him (imaginary prime heads on the decep bodies). megatron thinks ' exposing his fear- humiliate him- a truely delicious present for myself.' decepticons are all cheering "merry christmas!!" megatron thinks '... and yet...' megatron says "starscream relieve soundwave in security. the spoils of war are for winners only" screamer says "th- this is intolerable!! " relieved yet afraid to show it. megatron says with a smirk "and one more thing- merry xmas you waste of energon" screamer replies "merry xmas you over sized scraplet"

I JUST READ YOUR PEPE FIC AND OMG ITS SO CUTEEEE IM SQUEALING IM CRYING IM GIGGLING IM KICKING MY FEET WHAT DO I NEED TO DO FOR A BEST FRIENDS TO LOVERS ARC WHAT DO I NEED TO DO FOR A UNI ROMANCE
This is also amazing comfort after my “best friend” (we’ve been disgustingly down bad for each other since we were fifteen but just never did anything about it) left for uni again (we’re in our second years so this is the second goodby) and he kissed me right before he left for uni last year lmao because I wasn’t coming back home for either Xmas or Easter and my family and I had a long ass summer vacay planned so he panicked coz he wasn’t gonna see me for over a year then and we’re not dating because we’re on separate continents for uni 🫶 basically she fell first he fell harder but we just didn’t get the timing right like Jim and Pam
SHUT UP OH MY GODDDD i did not expect to receive an ask like this today but im so grateful i did because
1) i’m SO HAPPY to know that you loved the fic aaaa 💗💗this one is definitely very close to my heart so to know that it influenced you into wanting a uni romance too?? my job here is done 🤭🤭
2) cutest yet most heartbreaking thing ive read today like all that just for the timing to not be right?? ☹️☹️ are you both still in contact though? like as friends or best friends or… otherwise? idk if im just delusional or if i just have a very innocent viewpoint on relationships but i always think it could work out if you really wanted it to (if not now, then later) but i also believe that sometimes things just can’t work out if there’s too much hurt surrounding certain things in the relationship even if you really do love the person yk?
ive always wanted a childhood best friends to lovers trope like its been my favourite trope for years and will continue to be until the day i die but i don’t have any male childhood best friends i could marry and the only ones that come close are the sons of my dad’s friends that i met like… once or twice when i was 5 and 7 so no way
also im just not attracted to people in my country for lots of reasons but anyway! the things i would do to experience a childhood best friends to lovers trope (teenage love to adult lovers just doesn’t hit the same in my opinion) UGDHHDDJ and pepe just fits that trope perfectly though don’t you think 😊💞
have a lovely lovely day/night ahead!! thank u for sharing this with me because it made my very busy and fun day 100x better so i hope everything ends up working out with you and your best friend (if you still want it to ofc 🫣🤭) take care! 💗💗

also my bf is being weird again….!!!! everyy time i hang out with snow (which has been a month or two apart) he gets weird with me again!!! he acts cold and short with me and its always like the next day. he swears im gonna cheat or not want him anymore, no matter how much i tell him that i wont and that i love him too much to think about wanting to leave him. like, i feel secure in our relationship and theres only a few things that could make me feel like its not. when he gets all anxious like this about us i feel like its bc he just doesnt feel fully secure with the relationship.. even tho weve been together for 4.5YeaRs. hes also had way more dreams than he should be having of me breaking up or leaving him. bc of his anxiety and fear of being cheated!!! like he gets upset bc they feel real in his dream and then he thinks what if its trueee. i feel like thats not fair to me in a way bc im not doing anything bad behind his back or seeking out someone else to make me happy. i also think maybe him feeling insecure with himself plays a factor into it. like maybe he feels like no one wants to stay with him or i dont love him anymore and he doesnt feel good about himself and then ends up suffering in his thoughts alone and becomes a hermit crab. i didnt mention anything to his mood yesterday bc i didnt wanna pester him with more to think about and i wont be able to see him in person for like a wk. i just wanted to seem fine..but maybe ill say something today. yesterday when i was contemplating on talking about it, i was going to be like howve you been, are you okay, do you still love me. mostly the do you still love me question bc seriously. so im also thinking that he saw snows bday post on ig since theyre not private and saw how they posted my card&drawing i did for them and ofc that made him feel a type of way. like, why is she making good art for someone else. i did it bc they didnt even want me to buy a gift for them or treat them or anything. they suggested to make something bc they like to display art in their room from other friends who have given them art. like the two people who i met the other day, they both create digital art of people. but thats why i made that drawing. aaand im planning on painting something for my other friend for her xmas gift. so i dont see giving my art as like a romantic gesture or anything, its just another way to give a personalized gift and it saves money lol. like, i just wanna shout “you have nothing to worry about!” i mean they were literally gushing to me about a guy they started seeing and they went on their first date yesterday and texted me about it and im just replying like im their hypewoman. i feel like this whole thing is making it feel like his worst nightmare and it shouldnt beeeee
edit: 12.14 / alright so i asked him “do you still love me?” and he says, “well yeah, nothing has happened yet to make me think otherwise” ………YET….. YET?!? like why are you beingggg like thiss to meee

ok guys im back to being sane. b and i had such a good chat and of course i brought the madness upon myself like i always do. so, not dwelling, but i'm good now.
we've been talking on the phone every single day since we chatted about us and it has been pure bliss. i dont care about you texting me or snapchatting me (like, i do) but the actual phone conversations and facetimes are what i need. i know that now. so glad we figured that one out LOL.
but its like im back in the honeymoon phase again. not worrying about the future. just looking forward to our next phone call. it's so lovely.
and i booked my flights to london for xmas today!
and it's (basically) fall. my favourite time of year. i can feel the air has already changed. it's not so fucking hot.
and god i have been so fucking hot for you these past couple days since we had that nice talk. like i said, i'm right back to bliss. this is the new normal and i am so here for it. i can do this. we can do this. honestly, maybe i would move to london next year. idk. but either way, i really hope next year or beginning of 2025 we are in the same city. even if that means waiting until my lease is up in 2025. which honestly would be awful another year of seeing each other every 2-3 months. but we can do it. i fully, without doubt, believe we are in this for the long haul. i know i am.
i just can't fucking wait to see you. be in your presence. that's all i want. i want to be near you. smell you. touch you. kiss you so so so so so much. all the kisses. all the hugs. all the hand holding and PDA. idc. i want to be all over you constantly. i hope i dont get so fucked up i say i love you lol. i wanna save that for xmas. but who knows maybe you'll say it. and i do think you'd be the one to say it first. but honestly who knows, i'm growing. it took me 6 months with jake when i knew 4 months in. and i'm definitely not ready to say it yet. i need to spend more time with you. even though i like you so much, and i know i want to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you, i'm not ready for i love you. i don't feel it yet. you know when you literally cannot not say it? when you're lying in bed with that person and all you can think about is telling them how much they rule your heart. that you can't breathe without them. it almost hurts not to say it. that's when i know. and i'm not there yet.
but maybe i'll feel that way in amsterdam, who knows. i'll see you on thursday being a little hungover and probably quite tired. but i'm gonna run to you like there's no tomorrow and wrap my arms around your neck and kiss you like i haven't seen you in years. and i won't want to let go. the world will stop. and it'll just be us. me and you. nothing and no one else.
it already feels that way to be honest. in a good way. not that you're my everything and life stands still without you. but that it's US and no one else.. idk if that makes sense. but like we're constantly connected. our lives are separate but together, even 7000km away from each other. idk, it's hard to explain. but i feel like you're always here in a way, always with me.
i really hope one of these days you surprise me and just come see me without telling me. even if it's for a few days. you show up at work or my doorstep. i would fucking die. i think i would start bawling LOL. literally would fucking die. fuck that would be so insane.

i like the idea of thomas for the dad/christmas fic 🥺
heeey!!! thanks for comment on it again!!! once again, i'm sorry for not writing that one with the person 'we' mentioned first😅 hope u like it!
-> dad!thomas raggi x reader
prompt: in which, dad!thomas is bit late for xmas to see his little girl! bonus. he teaching his little girl how to play the guitar!
warnings: none, just the good stuff today!! oh, we actually talk more about the 'finals' holiday than xmas itself on here so i hope it doesnt be too awkward for people who don't celebrate it.
-------------------++++----------------
You closed the fairytale book, putting it in its place on the shelf, and then tidied the blanket to cover Alice better. One of her arms was on her new guitar, which Santa Claus had left for her at Thomas's mother’s house; and by Santa you meant Thomas. She was so happy at the moment that you couldn't wait to show him the video.
Despise this, the smile on her face hadn't lasted long, you didn't know if everyone could see that she looked sad or if it was something maternal that warned you about it. She was asleep, and even though you could tell she was heartbroken, her long eyelashes rested under the freckles of her chubby face; appearing to be all agitated - she had not cried, but you knew she had held back her tears while you put her to sleep. You didn't blame her, you missed him, too.
You hugged your torso, wanting to stay there with her, you didn't feel like going to sleep knowing that he wasn’t home for Christmas. When you looked at her again, with her sad little face, you suddenly felt bad for not thinking about letting her sleep with you; since she liked it when you let her stay in Thomas’s side of the bed when he wasn’t around.
“I love you, angel,” you whispered, brushing her hair away from her face and placing a kiss on the prominent freckles on her nose. She mumbled something you couldn't understand, and smiling silly at your girl, you took her purrs as your cue to make your way to the kicthen.
You hummed one of Thomas’s band songs to yourself after you checked that there was no messages or new call on it. He promised he would at least contact you, and as long as you are together he never was one to broke his promises; so what you could do was wait.
It was the first Christmas after you had Alice that he hadn't been able to come back home on time. And as much as you told him that you understood and that everything would be fine, which was true, you couldn't deny how much you missed him.
You kept the leftovers Alice had begged her grandmother to give her on the frigde, remembering how she had planned on eating it with Thomas when he got home. Glad pleased, you could imagine how happy he’d be that she thought about doing it for him. Just when your mind was ready to get lost in a scenario where Thomas would be home for the Holidays, the vibrations of your phone interrupted you.
“Hey, babe. Merry Christmas!” You said excitedly. It was him, he wouln’t forget of you. It was late at night and you had no idea what time it was for him, but still he called.
“Merry Christmas, babe,” He said in a slurred, almost inaudible voice. He looked a bit sapped and busy.
“It's not a good time, right? I can call you later if you can’t speak right now or are feeling too tired,”
“Nah, it’s fine,” He assured, a bit breathless, getting clearer over the phone. “How was your day? How’s Alice? God, I missed you,”
“It was good,” you sighed, thinking about being cheeky and adding that it would have been better with him, yet you were afraid that it might make him feel worse. “Alice is fine too. She loved the guitar, you will love to see it. I filmed everything, she didn’t stop jumping with it in her arms, telling your parents how it was just like the one his dad have. She misses you so much, Thommy, and I think she’s learning how to deal with it.”
“She’s learning...” he repeated. “I wish she didn't need to learn to deal with me being away from her,”
“Don’t say that, I made a bad choice of words, you know she loves you and she loves even more the way you love her extra when you’re back. She understands, Thomas,”
“She’s 5 years old, Y/N,”
You let the silence fill the chasm between you. You felt how sad he was, he had been away for a long time because of the turns before, still he always managed to return for the special dates - just as he had promised when Alice was born - but this time, well, this time it wasn’t possible.
“I’m sorry,” he murmured and you visualized in your head his eyebrows furrowing as his hand ran agonizingly through his hair, just as he always do when he‘s feeling in low spirits. “You’re right. I should be focusing on the good things, soon I’ll be home, I’m gonna teach her to play the guitar, show her all my love and be the best dad in the world,”
You laughed at his abrupt change in mood mixed with a hint of himself. “I know you will, babe,”
“I’m gonna be the best boyfriend too,” he would give continuity to his words when a loud noise of something falling stopped him abruptly.
“What was it?” You asked. You made it clear that you were suspicious, and by his nervous laugh he knew that. After all, what would he say about the noise that seemed to have come from the room next to where you were? “Oh my god, Thomas, that can’t be you.”
He didn't even need to answer, the sound of your steps going on his way was enough for him to know that you knew he was there, making him curse himself for being so clumsy. And just like in a flash, you were in his arms. He dropped his bag on the floor, giving you al of his attention as he squeezed your shape to his body.
“You’re here,” you bured your face on his chest, letting the feeling of comfort fill your nostrils, and then soul. “You’re really here.” You added in a breathless sigh.
Relief taking over his body as you snuggled into his frame, he grinned, “I promised that I would try my best to be with you all the special dates, didn't I?” He asked, holding your face so he could look at you properly. “Are you crying?”
You nodded at his soft voice. “I’m sorry,”
He laughed, a nasal sound that you missed so much. “It’s ok, 5 months is a long time,” He said, tracing kisses across your face. “I promise I’m gonna love you extra now.”
——————-
It was already possible to see the sun rissing outside, yet you refused to close your eyes and lose any moment with Thomas.
You rested your head on the pillow, waiting for him and thinking of how lucky you were that he managed to catch a last minute flight to spend the New Year at home. He was scheduled to return only after the first day of the year, somehow things would have worked out better than expected and he managed to get back sooner.
“She looks like an angel sleeping so calmly.” He spoke, lying beside you under the covers.
“I thought you were going to wake her up, she'll go crazy when she sees you.”
“I know,” He smiled, proud of himself. He knew she was the definition of daddy’s little girl. “I will wait until she wakes up. I'm dying to fill her with kisses and hugs.”
Still with his charming teeth and cute dimples on display, he pulled you to his chest, trying to wrap you in the blanket next to him. “She loves you. She doesn't care about the time you spend away, as long as you come back to her.” You nuzzled into his neck, squeezing him tighter as you said that. It was likely that this would happen more often, letting Thomas blame himself for that wouldn’t do him any good.
He bobbed, kissing your forehead, enlacing you with the same intensity. “I know, babe,”
“How was turn?” You asked, looking at him, making sure that he was fine. He was thoughtful, but it wasn’t the end of the world.
He told you about his gigs around the globe and you were happy feeling his body soften on your arms. His voice almost lulled you to sleep, but you were sure you would never tire of hearing him talk about what he loves. You showed him the video of Alice receiving the guitar, seeing his eyes fill with water after she said that she‘d be just like her father made your chest almost explode with love. In the best possible way, of course.
“You can sleep if you want, babe.”
“No, I want to spend more time with you.”
“I’m here, I am not intending to go anywhere.” He patted your hair, rubbing his nose through your hairline, and the last thing you remembered was feeling his lips on your temple.
When you opened your eyes again, he was no longer there. You rubbed your eyes tight, trying to adjust to the light, wondering if there was any possibility that it might have been a dream, but then a sweet chuckle brought you back to reality.
Alice was standing in front of you, with the guitar resting awkwardly on her shoulders. Her eyes went from you to Thomas, as if asking him if everything was all right. You smirked lightly at her features that looked the same as Thomas's.
She started playing something, which looked incredibly bad, Thomas wrinkled his nose in an attempt not to laugh so as not to discourage her. He should have spent a lot of time helping her, and she looked like she was trying. Her lips was between her teeth as she concentrated to play her less than a minute of song was so cute that as much as you didn't understand a thing, you couldn’t help but feel proud of her.
“It’s Vent'anni,” Thomas mouthed, waving his hand in a way that would get your attention but not hers. “It’s Vent'anni.”
“Oh my god!” You opened your arms for her as she finished playing, watching you with her excited eyes. “It’s Vent'anni.”
She grinned from ear to ear, handing Thomas the guitar, and then jumping into your arms.
“Did you like this?” She asked happily, making ‘this’ sound like ‘dis’. “It’s not perfect but I’ll get better, right dad?”
“Yes, better than Damiano trying to play It!" Thomas confirmed, stroking her back as he approached you. “Good mornin’, love.” he kissed the top of your head.
“I love you,” you kissed his cheek, wishing he could feel how much you love him. “And I love you too, little one,” you mumbled, pinching Alice’s nose, which eyes was stuck on the two of you.
She laughed, her gaze still on you and Thomas. She looked like a completely different person from the night before.
“Dad said you look cute when you're tired.”
You knew that you looked tired, the day before wasn’t the best and you had barely slept. You bit the inside of your cheek, looking at Thomas who had a silly smile playing on his lips and felt your cheeks get hotter. The reason you still felt that way when he complimented you was a mystery, you liked it anyway.
“You are a gossip little thing,” Thomas joked, poking at her sides.
“No, I’m not.” She laughed, trying to run away from him flawlessly, letting him hug her as she recovered her breath.
“I love you too, both of you,” she pointed a finger at both of you. Thomas's smile was priceless, you could live in there forever. “but can we play more guitar now, please?”
You agreed and Thomas got up to sit upright, putting her between his legs. He looked at you, his face still radiant, you could easily imagine him talking about you with Alice - just like you did talk about him with her as well. He positioned her tiny hands on the guitar, guiding then with his own fingers. His gentle, patient voice teaching her things that both knew she would soon forget and he would have to repeat it all over again - and you knew Thomas would do it without a problem - was lovely to watch. Her head was resting on his chest and whenever she hit a note and heard Thomas praising her, she would turn to you and say "see mom, I did it.” And you swear that you couldn't be happier to have found the meaning of the word home in two of your favorite people in the world.

Mari Christmas And A Happy New Adrien
Summary:
Lost in the aftermath of Hawkmoth's defeat, Adrien loses complete track of time and before he knows it, the holiday season is upon him. Will a Christmas visit to his girlfriend's house be just what he needs to move on?
Hello and welcome to my piece for the @mlsecretsanta event! My giftee, @lesslinette, asked for among other things, Adrienette, family bonding, fluff and just a bit of hurt/comfort and I aimed to please!
I had to do a good amount of research into French and Chinese Christmas traditions (including interviewing my long-suffering French friend - thanks @emsylcatac!), so hopefully I didn't get anything *too* wrong.
Read on Ao3

Adrien: Will do
Adrien laid back down, his face lit up only by the glow of his phone and the only noise in the room being Plagg’s snoring. Putting his phone to sleep, he turned over, closed his eyes, and honestly smiled for what felt like the first time in a long time.
---------------------
Adrien reached the door to his girlfriend’s house with a gift under one arm, an envelope in his pocket, and a weak smile on his face. The latter wasn’t because of a lack of feeling on his part - the exact opposite, actually.
It had been hard to go to sleep after their conversation that night, a swirl of mixed emotions keeping him from getting the rest that he craved. Last night wasn’t much better and he was left exhausted. He’d even been half tempted to call and say that he couldn’t make it, but somehow that only made him feel worse.
So here he was. He’d shambled his way to the car, driven himself there through blurry eyes and frequent yawns, and turned the doorknob. Maybe they’d understand if he just dropped off the present and headed home.
Well, maybe not home, but just where he lived.
The instant the door opened, a wave of hot air buffeted him. Not only did it warm his freezing face, it brought all sorts of wonderful smells on it. There were the expected scents - baked potatoes, salmon, chicken. But then was something else, something a little harder to place.
After puzzling over it for a moment, he shook his head and stepped into the house. No sooner had he closed the door behind him than he heard some voices calling out from deeper inside.
“Wait, was that the door? The family wasn’t supposed to be over until tomorrow, weren’t they?”
“Tom, that has to be Adrien!”
There was excitement in Sabine’s voice that warmed his heart, but not quite as much as when he’d taken a couple steps into the house and was blindsided by Marinette bursting out of the living room to wrap him in a hug.
“Worried I might not show?” Adrien whispered after they parted from their kiss.
“Not even for a moment, chaton.” She smiled up at him before her eyes wandered down to his arms, a suspicious look on her face when she saw the one present. “Looks like you showed some restraint this year.”
“Of course!” At her continued doubting look, he added. “Come on, I’m perfectly capable of giving reasonable gifts.”
“Last year you tried to give me my favorite restaurant.”
“But I didn’t!”
“Only because I hid your checkbook and credit cards!”
Adrien snorted. “Details.”
Rolling her eyes, Marinette tugged on his coat sleeve. “Follow me, you ridiculous man. You can put your gifts under the tree, we’ll open them tomorrow.”
She led him into the living room, where their Christmas tree had been set up in all its glory. There were red paper chains wrapped all around it and a huge variety of homemade ornaments - including a few that he’d made in years past. Ever since he and Marinette had started dating, he’d been welcomed into their household with open arms. And even before that, they’d been nothing but kind to him.
His eyes poured over the tree, looking for one specific ornament. It didn’t take him long to find it - with its poor quality, it stood out among the beautiful glass orbs and painted baubles. His fingers brushed over the patches of glitter, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face as he took in the patterns of melted wax inside it. His first ornament. They’d barely been dating a few months when he’d made that one.
Had it really been four years already?
Arms wrapped around him from the side and he looked down at Marinette’s chin resting on his shoulder, peering up at him with big blue eyes.
“What’re you thinking about, hot stuff?”
“Old memories, that’s all.”
“Hmm…” She leaned up to give him a kiss on the cheek. “You just about ready to make some new ones?”
“With you? Always.”
“You two want to come in and help us finish cooking dinner?” They both jumped when Sabine’s voice reached them.
Blushing, Marinette reluctantly let Adrien go and headed toward the kitchen. “Coming, maman!”
------------------
A few hours later and the four of them were seated around the dining room table. Some things had been moved around from what Adrien remembered from the usual arrangement, and a long table had been set up. Most of the spaces were empty - with the four of them, only about a third of the table was occupied. But while the chairs were mostly left bare, the table was not.
Even though he had helped make some of it, Adrien was still amazed at how good the food all looked when laid out on the table like this.
Most of it was pretty traditional, at least from what he knew. A lot of the time his experience with Christmas dinners were meals allowed to grow cold until he gave up on his father showing. But the roasted chicken was still steaming when they cut into it, the smoked salmon and toast still holding the heat of the oven on them. Add in the gratin dauphinois and this was just about the ideal Christmas dinner he could imagine.
Naturally, it got even better with Sabine’s contribution - spring rolls.
As Adrien shoveled them onto his plate, he asked Sabine, “Is this the only Chinese dish for today, maman?”
“Just you wait, dear.” She smiled over her plate. “Today was Tom’s turn to make dinner. Tomorrow will be mine and you’ll definitely have your fill then.”
“I can’t wait!” Adrien took some of the chestnut sauce to pour over his chicken. Which reminded him… He glanced nervously toward the oven. “I don’t suppose you made foie gras, did you?”
Marinette made a face and shivered.
Tom quickly shook his head. “Oh no, son. Back when Marinette was… what? Eight, nine? She found out how it was made and made us promise to never have it again.”
“Eleven years later and we haven’t broken that promise yet,” Sabine finished. “There are plenty of other foods in the world.”
“That’s good.” Adrien breathed a sigh of relief. “It always made me uncomfortable when my father ordered it.”
“Ordered, dear?” Sabine gave him a confused look.
“Oh, we never really cooked our own dinners.”
Tom’s jaw dropped. “Not even Christmas dinner?”
“Nope. Sometimes he’d have to order the dinner prepared the day before and then we’d reheat it the day of, since no one wanted to come into work on Christmas day, you know?”
“I see…” Tom shared a look with Sabine, but the meaning was lost on Adrien. “Well, you make sure you have your fill, son! We’ll be making more for tomorrow, so this is all for us.”
“Thanks,” Adrien said with a grateful smile.
The conversation meandered and for the most part Adrien was just content to listen in, drinking in the company after spending so much of his time recently just by himself. Well, mostly by himself. Marinette would visit whenever she could get the time between college classes and internships. Nino and Alya were more elusive, if only because they were outside the city so often these days.
But there was one person who was his constant companion, Adrien thought with a smile as he peeked into the breast pocket of his T-shirt…
...Only to see that it was empty. Maybe he’d gone to visit Tikki and the kwamis of the miracle box? Adrien was drawn out of his thoughts when Sabine directed a question at him.
“Are you ready for the pre-dessert snacks, dear?”
“Oh! Sure, yeah. What do you have?”
“You’ll love it!” Tom excitedly got up and hustled over to the kitchen, Sabine right behind him. He raised his voice to be heard as he went to the room next door. “We know how much you love camembert so…”
Adrien’s eyes widened. They didn’t…
Tom returned with a platter of cheeses in his hands and a frown on his lips.
“Something wrong, papa?” Marinette’s eyes glanced between Tom and the cheese platter.
“No, no… its just… I could have sworn I bought more cheese than this. And I was so sure that I had purchased camembert.” He rubbed his chin. “Ah well, there is more than enough for the three of us anyway.”
While Sabine set down a large bowl of salad in the middle of the table, Adrien glanced at Marinette. At his side, Marinette was biting her lips and pointedly staring into the middle distance, trying her hardest not to laugh. For his part, Adrien was frustrated that he couldn’t go anywhere without Plagg making a noticeable dent in the food supply.
His annoyance with Plagg was so great he almost didn’t enjoy the Yule Log that Tom had made for dessert. Almost, but not quite.
Once they were done with dinner, they cleared the table.
“So, how’d you like the meal?” Marinette asked as she dried off the dishes while Adrien washed them.
“Definitely better hot. And homemade.”
Marinette chuckled. “I’m glad the bar was so high for us. Really makes us feel like we accomplished something here.”
“How about…” Adrien bit down on his lips and narrowed his eyes in thought. “It was the most delicious meal I’ve had in months.”
“Ooo, now we’re getting somewhere.”
“Years even.”
“Good, good, go on.”
“I had never known food could taste so delicious until you graced me with your heavenly meals.”
Marinette’s eyes gleamed with restrained laughter, the hint of a barely contained smile ruining her deadpan. “Glad I could finally weasel how you really feel out of you.”
“Yeah you’re pretty good at that, aren’t you?” Hands still in the sink’s soapy water, he leaned over and planted a kiss on her forehead.
“No fooling around now, we still have to help put up the last decorations before we relax for the night.”
“What sort of decorations?”
“Paper lanterns and paper chains. That sort of thing.” At Adrien’s politely confused look, she added, “It’ll help make mom’s side of the family feel welcome. Plus they look pretty cool.”
“Well what are we waiting for then? Let’s kick this into overdrive!”
Adrien suddenly worked in a flurry, Marinette scream laughing as she got splashed with some of the water thrown up by his breakneck pace. Marinette could barely keep up between her giggling, but she somehow managed.
With the last fork, plate, and glass sparkling clean and put away, Marinette shook her head and dabbed at her slightly damp shirt with a fresh towel.
“You’re a dork, you know that?”
“So my girlfriend tells me.”
Adrien relished the sometimes quiet, sometimes loud evening he spent with the Dupain-Chengs. When he went upstairs and cuddled Marinette in the cozy darkness, Adrien felt only excitement for the next day
----------------
Morning came swiftly, but Adrien rose to meet the dawn’s first light with a smile on his lips and a spring in his step. Marinette was… a little less eager, but he managed to coax her out of the bed, eventually.
When they finally got down the stairs and made it to the kitchen, Sabine’s eyes widened and she even froze in the middle of folding one of her dumplings.
“Marinette? I’m surprised to see you up so early.”
Bleary eyed, her daughter simply jabbed a finger toward Adrien and grunted. Adrien rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled.
“I knew you’d be a good influence on her, sweetie.”  Sabine patted his cheek with a warm smile. “Now, once you’ve had some breakfast I’d really appreciate some help out here. From you especially, Marinette, since you know exactly how to do it the way I like it.”
“Can’t Tom help?” Adrien made some toast for him and Marinette, doing his best to stay out of Sabine’s way. “Not that I’m not willing to lend a hand, but he’s got to be pretty good at it after all this time, right?”
Sabine laughed and even Marinette cracked a smile. “You’d think so, but no. The man can make almost any dessert known to French mankind, but I’ve yet to see him finish one spring roll or dumpling in all our years of marriage. Just about the only thing I’m trusting him with today is the roasted pork.”
“Not even the cheese plate?” Adrien asked, tongue in cheek. To his surprise, Sabine shook her head gravely.
“We don’t make one for Christmas day. After all, everyone that is going to be here is from my side of the family and we’re all lactose intolerant.”
“Oh.” Adrien glanced at Marinette, who shrugged.
“I got lucky and got papa’s tolerance for it, I guess.”
“Huh… well, can I help?”
A few hours passed, most of which Adrien spent doing vital but unskilled cooking like stirring and kneading. Although they did let him try to fold a few dumplings. It ended up nowhere near as well done as Marinette’s, but she still gave him a kiss on the cheek for the good effort. From what he gathered, Tom had never even managed to get it to stay together.
They had just put the last batch in the oven when they heard a knock at the door, Sabine quickly taking off her apron as she rushed to answer it.
Adrien’s ears perked up when he heard a conversation in Chinese start up, but between him being a little rusty and them speaking so fast, he couldn’t pick out much.
A few moments later, Sabine walked back into the room with an older Chinese couple. Marinette pulled him towards them. Sabine put a hand on Adrien’s shoulder and introduced them.
“Adrien, these are my parents. My mother, Ling,” she said, gesturing towards the grey-haired woman currently hugging Marinette. “And my father, Zheng.”
The older man’s grey eyes sparkled with excitement as he held out a red envelope for Adrien, who just now noticed that Marinette had also been given one. He froze, eyes widening. Was he supposed to have gotten them something too? He hadn’t realized that anyone would be getting him anything, except maybe Marinette. There was a moment where he was about to decline but he took a shot in the dark and accepted.
The moment his hand touched the envelope, Zheng spoke in Mandarin, “Best wishes for the New Year!”
“Thank you very much!” Adrien replied automatically in the same language. While the finer points might escape him, Adrien was fluent in niceties.
Zheng’s eyes widened before he nodded sagely to himself. “Ahh, I see you’ve picked up some Mandarin from my daughter, yes?”
“Oh, no, sir. I’ve been studying since I was fourteen.”
Once again, Zheng’s eyes widened before he chuckled and looked knowingly at Marinette. “This one is definitely a keeper! I approve.”
Marinette’s cheeks were almost as red as the envelope, but she still smiled.
The bright, enticing red of the envelope made him want nothing more than to open it right then and there. But Adrien took a nod from Marinette, who had very pointedly left it sealed even as she refused to set it down. He chose to follow her lead as they all made their way to the living room.
While the Dupain-Cheng parents and the Cheng parents were getting settled there, Marinette volunteered them to go make some tea. Once they were in the kitchen and out of earshot of the new arrivals, Adrien held up his envelope with a raised eyebrow and curious look.
“You can go ahead and look at it now, it’s just not polite to do it right when you get it.” She carefully unsealed the envelope. “It's this Chinese tradition - good luck money for the new year, you know?”
Adrien followed her lead and found one ten, one twenty, and one fifty euro note inside. Glancing over, it seemed Marinette got the same. He was half tempted to just give her his euros since he didn’t have any need for it, but decided that might be tacky. If she would even take them at all. After stashing the envelopes away in a kitchen drawer, they came back with tea for everyone.
Over the next few hours, more and more family members funneled into the house. Adrien, used to seeing maybe four people during the holiday season, thought the room would be close to bursting after the first aunt arrived with husband and two kids in tow. But then came the uncle and his family, then the second aunt with her boyfriend and by the end of it fifteen people were packed into the living room. For some reason apples in boxes became involved? Adrien thought that was a pun but that was more his pun sense than his linguistic skill.
Before anyone could get too settled in, they finally got to opening presents. Despite his fears from the red envelope, no one else seemed to have gotten Adrien anything.
At least, none of the extended family had. The Dupain-Cheng family, however…
“Here you go, dear.” While the rest of the room was chattering among themselves, Sabine placed a package about as big as a shoebox on Adrien’s lap. Before he could react to it, Marinette had shoved a bag stuffed with packing paper.
“Let me go get your-”
Adrien felt a tug on his arm and looked down at Marinette seated beside him. “Open your gifts first and then we’ll open the ones you got us.”
“Okay, okay.” Adrien looked at the box on his lap and tore it open. He tilted his head in confusion as he lifted the fabric that he found there out of the box. His eyes widened when he realized it was an apron with ‘Kiss the Chef’ on it.
“Its for when you come over to cook with us!” Tom beamed down at him proudly. “Now you don’t need to borrow our aprons any more - you’ll have one of your very own!”
Adrien felt his eyes get misty and he bit his lips to keep himself from crying. After a few moments of pulling himself together, he managed to say, “Thank you, guys. I’m really looking forward to wearing it!”
“Speaking of…” Marinette prodded the bag she left with him.
“Right, right.”
Adrien removed the paper and pulled out what turned out to be a sweater, cream colored and decorated with mistletoes and black cats in red scarves. It felt amazingly soft as he slipped it on over his head, embraced in a warm hug that - he lifted the fabric to his nose and took a deep breath - yes, smelled exactly like Marinette. For now at least.
“Do you like it?” Instead of replying, Adrien wrapped his arms around Marinette and pulled her close to him, nuzzling his nose against her neck. Giggling, she smacked his arms lightly. “I’ll take that as a yes, now let go!”
After he pulled his arms back, he stood up and stepped between the Cheng family members and made it to the tree before heading back to the little corner of the living room that they had claimed. He passed the envelope to Tom and the box to Marinette.
“A… gift card for an appliance store?” Tom said, his brow furrowing.
“I wanted to get you an actual new stove because you’re always upset at it,” Adrien explained in a rush, feeling embarrassed that his gift felt so… impersonal compared to theirs. “But when I went to the store I had no idea what actually made a good stove and searching it up on the internet only made it more confusing and… yeah,” he finished lamely.”
He glanced up at them and felt better to see them smiling back.
“That’s very thoughtful of you, Adrien! Thank you, we’ll make good use of this.”
Beside him, Marinette began opening her gift, which Adrien was much more excited for. Not because he had spent any less for it, but because that at least he knew exactly what to get.
He knew he’d done good when she gasped as she pulled out the expensive fabric she’d once stared at longingly from the otherside of a store’s window in Paris. Which, of course, meant that he was also expecting the smack on his arm from her as well.
“Adrien! This is expensive! You definitely shouldn’t have bought this.”
“Actually, you’ll remember that I get to spoil you exactly three times a year - birthdays, Valentine’s, and Christmas.” He gave her the most innocent look he could manage. “So you like it then?”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “You know I absolutely love it, you cat.”
“Then that’s great!” He continued with the overly chipper and oblivious tone, knowing how much it bugged her. He rubbed his hands together. “So… when’s dinner?”
-----------
After a Christmas dinner packed with Chinese dishes, they slowly returned to the living room.
Adrien sat in a corner of the room, taking in the warm and inviting atmosphere, the excitement and energy of so many people gathered together in such a small space.
Holding Marinette close, Adrien felt like he was part of a real family for the first time in a long time.

Xmas Party in Snaxburg
“We should have an Xmas party,” was the first thing Filbo said as Liz wandered back into Snaxburg.
“Wait, it’s really Xmas already?” She wasn’t good at keeping track of time, especially out here on Snaktooth where the seasons didn’t seem to change much, but surely there was no way it was already Xmas. They hadn’t been out here thatlong, it had only been a couple months… right?
“Well, uh… not today. In exactly three weeks it will be though. Assuming my calendar’s correct anyway. It could be wrong but I think it’s right. And even if I’m off by a few days it should still be pretty close so… Xmas party?” He gave her a hopeful look as if he actually needed her permission to set one up.
“Yeah. That sounds great. Let’s do that.” That might be just what the town needed to ease some of the tensions that were starting to rise amongst a few members of the group.
“Awesome! I’ll go start planning the decorations now.” Filbo turned and jogged off. A bit eager given it was still three weeks away but starting preparations early never hurt anyone.
Liz moved on too, dolling out the fruit of her latest hunting efforts. But if Xmas really was coming up in three weeks, then she needed to think about what she was going to get everyone, especially Eggabell. Going to the mall to buy her something nice wasn’t an option this year. And while bugsnax were great and all, she already went out of her way to make sure she got Eggabell not only her favourites but also the best of whatever new ones she found. So bugsnax wouldn’t make a great gift, not for her anyway. … Liz had to figure something out. Thankfully three weeks was plenty of time to do so.
3 weeks later
The Xmas party was bustling, well as bustling as a party with only thirteen people could get anyway. But hey, everyone had shown up, that was a win all by itself. Filbo had somewhere managed to make red and green banners to hang up everywhere. The tree was small and couldn’t stand up on its own so he’d leaned it against the side of what would be Liz and Eggabell’s hut when it was finished. It was covered in various homemade decorations, mostly consisting of painted pinecones, and more red and green banners, probably to replace lights due to the lack of electricity out here.
As the leader of this expedition, Liz took it upon herself to go through and make sure everyone was having a good time, handing out gifts as she did so. For most of them she’d gotten a handful of their favourite bugsnax but for others like Wambus she gave him the seed for the new sauce plant she’d discovered in the far desert and for Triffany, a skull she’d found in Boiling Bay. She saved Eggabell for last of course. Both to save the best for last but also because turns out three weeks was not ‘plenty of time’ at all, especially when one was busy keeping everyone fed and exploring the island for secrets.
“Sorry I, uh… couldn’t get you something special this year,” she said as she sat next to Eggabell in front of the firepit – not yet lit as it wasn’t quite dark enough to do so. “I’ll try to…”
Eggabell interrupted with a chuckle. “We’re out in the middle of nowhere. I didn’t expect you get me something super special.”
“Yeah but…”
“It’s fine, really. Now, merry Xmas.” She pushed the box she was holding towards Liz.
Perhaps being worried about how good her gift was, was a bit silly when they were out here in the middle of the nowhere with civilization miles and miles away. “Yeah, merry Xmas.” She accepted the box, exchanging it for the one she’d been holding.
Lacking wrapping paper or anything that would be good substitute that wouldn’t also be a huge hassle to deal with everyone had agreed to do without. Instead, they’d just repurposed boxes that had once contained food or other supplies that had since run out. Said boxes would be put away to be used again later as pretty much everything was too scarce to just be thrown out. And thus, there was nothing to even secure them closed, making it easy to open and pull out… a knitted pick scarf.
Oh, now she felt worse again. “Did you make this?” she asked, turning to look at Eggabell again.
“No, of course not. You know I can’t knit. I bought it for myself a few years ago ‘cause I thought it looked cute but never wore it because I get too warm with it on. But I figured since you’re going up to Frosted Peak all the time you might appreciate it.”
“Oh, all right then. Thanks.” That was certainly much better and appreciated. She wrapped it around her neck, tying it in a loose knot. “Now, you open yours.”
Eggabell did so, chuckling as she pulled out what had once been Liz’s spare hat. “I was wondering where you hid this.”
“Well, I figured since you borrow it all the time that I might as well just give it to you especially since it looks cuter on you than it does me anyway.”
Eggabell smiled as she put it on. “Thanks.” She then leaned in to kiss Liz on the cheek. So, yeah, a pretty good Xmas even despite being so far away from civilization.

Tumblr media
At this time of night, when it’s not really night but it’s too dark to still be day, you can enjoy the Christmas lights. From your window, it feels as if you can see the whole city – your house is right at the top of the hill.
Right now, when you can turn your own light off and admire the multicoloured constellations sprawled across the valley, it’s nice. However, when you go to bed it’s a different story. In the darkness of your room at night, it’s all too easy for the festive glow to sneak around your curtains and keep you awake.
Jungkook’s cooking at the moment, so you don’t want to go out and see what kind of horrors are going on in your kitchen.
At least it means he’s taken his music with him. That’s the thing about Jungkook: he’s always surrounded by music. And really, you don’t mind it. In fact, it’s something you’ve come to love. It’s reassuring, knowing another living person is just next door even if you’re snowed under with work and haven’t seen him all day.
And if you haven’t seen Jungkook, it is a bad day indeed.
But at this time of night, when it’s not really night but it’s too dark to still be day, you will take the peace and enjoy the Christmas lights.
Blinking, you realise you zoned out. The lights were floating in your unfocussed vision, but you soon pulled your attention back in. Sweeping your eyes once more over the cityscape, you noticed a darker section.
Then another patch of lights blinked off.
Vaguely, your memory reminded you that was what had jerked you to attention a moment ago. Lights cutting out. It felt like they should merely flicker, and you watched, feeling as if you were in mid-air, waiting for the inevitable moment of meeting the ground again.
But instead, a whole new square of the city fell into darkness.
And then, suddenly, you were blinking, eyes protesting at the newfound dark you had been submerged in. You were frozen, for a second.
Then you whipped around, as if you would find something coming up behind you. Nonsense, really. Your room had already been in darkness to let you watch the lights.
Walking across the space with nothing but muscle memory, your hand stretched out, hesitantly groping for the light switch. When your fingers stumbled across it, you flicked it.
Nothing.
With a sigh, you flipped the switch back off and stuck your head from your bedroom door.
“Kook?”
Your voice came softer than you expected, probably not reaching down the hall. Just as you cleared your throat, the concerning sound of something clattering to the floor interrupted you.
Eyebrows shooting up, you went straight to investigate.
“Kook!” you called into the dark kitchen. As you squinted, you could make out a human-sized shape on the floor, “Are you okay?”
“I think the power went out,” his voice returned.
Though you rolled your eyes, a smile sprung irresistibly to your face.
“Yeah, I had noticed,” you chuckled, “do you need some help-?”
Stepping into the space, it seems your calculations were off. Jungkook was a lot closer than you had expected and your leg hit him, tripping you up. But before you could topple over, Kook’s hands materialised at your hips, pushing you upright again.
“Woah, hey,” he laughed breathlessly, “careful.”
Clambering up from his knees to stand in front of you, you could hear the charming smile he was flashing at you rather than see it. Flustered, you stepped back and away from his hold. For a moment longer, he seemed to forget himself before he dived back down to retrieve the bowl he had dropped.
“Right, well, er,” you struggled to collect your thoughts, “don’t open the fridge until the power comes back. Do we have any candles, or anything-“
“Wait, Y/N, I just started cooking! I need to put everything back in the fridge. What if I open it really fast?”
“I don’t know…” you admitted.
Standing side by side in the dark, staring at the fridge for some sort of answer, you never felt more like a student. Which, of course, you were, but you hadn’t felt this clueless about something since the first time you did your own washing in first year.
“Well, I already cooked the bacon,” Jungkook said, “so it’s really just the milk and cheese.”
“I suppose you could risk opening the fridge,” you shrugged.
“Maybe…” he was chewing his lip. You knew he was.
Sighing, you spun on your heel and headed towards the door again.
“I’m going to go and see if we have any candles, or something.”
Back in your room, you rummaged blindly in your drawer for your phone. Often, as today, you stored it in there to avoid getting distracted by it when you had work to do.
Thankfully, it lit up, but boasted pitifully low charge. You just had to hope it would last long enough for you to find an alternative light source.
Pressing the button for the torch, you started at your wardrobe, wondering if you had any candles left over from birthday presents tucked away. None there, or in your desk or underneath your bed. Resurfacing from between the dusty boxes you kept under there, you slumped back against your bed.
Casting your eye fruitlessly around your room once more, you heaved yourself to your feet.
“Kook, can I go look in your room?” you called, walking back down to the kitchen.
Instead of a response, though, you were met with a spluttering sound. Entering the room, your torch illuminated Kook, hunched over with a milk bottle in one hand. His other was covering his mouth.
“What are you doing now?” you asked, incredulous.
Lifting his head, he coughed once more, sending a single drop of milk down his chin. His shirt was also spattered with it. Tilting you head, you raised your eyebrows.
“Please tell me you’re not chugging our milk.”
“You said not to open the fridge,” he mumbled weakly.
“Oh my god…” you sighed. Unfortunately, you couldn’t help the sudden burst of laughter that overtook you when he gave you full puppy-dog eyes.
“You’re a mess, Jeon Jungkook,” you smiled, “go and get another sweater.”
“This is the only one you haven’t stolen!” he protested.
Biting your lip, you looked bashfully down at the large black jumper you currently had on. Maybe he was right.
A second afterwards, your phone light drastically dimmed. There it stayed for a moment longer as you met Kook’s eyes, before you were both sent back into darkness.
“Ugh,” you groaned, “okay. You can have this jumper, but you need to take that one off. And then we need to find some lights.”
Knowing you were under the cover of darkness, you lifted Jungkook’s sweater over your head and held it out for him. Standing in only your bra and jeans, you noticed the effects of the heating being down.
“Kook,” you shook the jumper in what you hoped was his direction, “take it, come on. I’m cooold.”
“S-sorry,” he stammered, fabric soon leaving your hand.
Trekking back through the hallway, Kook following you this time, you parted ways to go into your respective rooms. You made your way to your wardrobe again with arms outstretched and felt around, picking the first jumper you came into contact with.
“Tada!”
The shout came as you had just put one arm into the sweater. Jumping around, you were met with a bundle of lights and a beaming Jungkook lit up behind them.
“Oh- sorry,” his eyes suddenly grew very round and he turned his back before you could blink.
Tugging the jumper on with haste, you cleared your throat.
“You found lights, then?”
“Yeah, um,” he looked tentatively over his shoulder to confirm it was safe before turning to face you again, “my mum sent up Christmas decorations, remember?”
“Oh! I didn’t realise,” you said, beaming nonetheless, “how come we haven’t put them up yet?”
“Uh, just didn’t have the time, I guess,” he replied as you scooped up a battery pack and began untangling the fairy lights attached to it.
While you worked, a cute frown making its way onto your face as you fought against the knotted wires, Jungkook just watched you through the mass of glowing lights. At last, you got the end free, your victory dance shaking him from his stupor.
“Do you know any card games?” you asked, draping the string of lights around your neck as you did so.
“Yeah,” he nodded.
“That’s what people do in power cuts, right?” you brushed past him.
“Um… I guess it is,” Jungkook followed you through to the living room.
Making a start by placing your string of lights along the back of the big sofa, you waited for Jungkook to join in. He was being awfully quiet. After a few moments, he did get the idea and placed the whole luminescent bunch onto the middle sofa cushion, beginning work on your vision.
“God, how many of these are there?” you laughed dryly when you pulled out the third battery pack.
“No idea,” he grimaced, “I thought you liked Christmas lights anyway?”
“I do,” you conceded, “I think they’re working better than candles would have, too.”
Eventually, the two of you had cocooned your living space in the lights. The nest of space between your sofa, rug and chairs was bathed in the warm white light. Stepping back, you couldn’t help but smile.
It was still too quiet, though.
“Are you alright?” you asked quietly.
“Hmm? Yeah,” Jungkook spoke, standing to join you observing your hard work.
“You just seem quiet,” you mumbled.
As if to prove your point, Jungkook let silence elapse between you. But, like always with you two, it was comfortable.
“Cards?” he prompted after a while.
“Oh, yes,” you remembered, tearing your eyes from the scene in front of you to the boy at your side, “do we… own a pack of cards?”
Lips parting in thought, he tilted his head to one side.
“We don’t, do we?”
At the same time, you both grinned, laughing softly. The sight of his smile only served to make yours wider.
“Blankets?” he proposed instead.
You quickly agreed. On your return to the living room, you laughed out loud, finding Jungkook holding out a wine glass full of milk for you.
“I could grate some cheese for dinner but that’s just depressing,” he gave a small smile.
Laughing loudly, you made a show of swirling the milk around your cup and sniffing at it like the tasters on tv, before sipping it.
However, Jungkook’s laughter cut off as he sunk down beside you, his fingers fidgeting around the stalk of his own glass.
“Kook, what’s going on?” you gently elbowed him, “you’re so quiet.”
“I, er,” he freed a hand to scratch at the back of his neck, “how about some music?”
“Yeah, okay,” you frowned, “but, Kook, the power’s out-“
“Just wait here, okay?”
And then he was gone before you could protest, practically running from the room.
Was something seriously wrong? You knew you had been busy lately, but you always tried to make time to see your flatmate. In all honesty, he was the highlight of your day, and you had to stop yourself from fantasising about being more than friends…
But right now, you were worried. Right now, it seemed like he needed a friend, but since when had he started acting like this?
Before you could get up and follow him, though, you heard his footsteps returning. Not a moment later, he rounded the corner with a guitar in his hand. Definitely not what you had been expecting.
“I didn’t know you played guitar,” you said. It surprised you; for all that you could hear his music from your room, you would have thought you’d have heard if he had been playing the guitar.
“I’ve been learning,” he didn’t quite meet your eyes, shuffling his feet.
“Okay,” you spoke slowly.
While you waited, he walked forwards and sat on one of the chairs facing you.
Just before he began, he looked up. Somehow your heart melted at his big eyes, heart already in your mouth for some reason.
And then his face was lit up in profile again, soft glow highlighting his features. As you gazed at him, unable to look away, his fingers began to pick out a soft tune. For someone so modest, he was incredibly skilled. Watching and listening in awe, your heart nearly burst when he started singing too.
His voice, though he sang softly, clearly a little nervous, floored you. And the words… he was singing about love, about a beautiful girl that made him happy, a girl he wanted to stay happy.
In your head, you had the privilege of imagining that girl was you.
All too soon, the song came to a close.
Staring at him, you held your breath to the last second before he relaxed, lowering his hand and putting his guitar to one side.
“That was beautiful, Kook,” you breathed.
But instead of responding, he stood, taking your gaze with him as he crossed to sit beside you on the sofa. A small smile curved his lips, a ghost of a laugh falling between them.
“I had a whole night planned out,” he waved his hand, “I was making carbonara, and-and I had all these decorations waiting in my room, I know you love them…”
While he took a deep breath, yours was completely stuck in your throat.
“I’m sorry about the, uh, the milk,” he chuckled, “it’s not exactly romantic, but… I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend?”
Finally having forced the words out, he looked nervously up at you with glistening eyes, no doubt thanks to your magical setup. He watched with that unwavering gaze as you tried desperately to form words in your head, simultaneously trying to process if you were in the real world at all.
“Please answer,” he whispered.
Until then you hadn’t noticed how impossibly close to each other you were. Until his words brushed against your lips.
Suddenly your brain caught up with itself, deciding this was real after all.
“O-of course,” you rushed out, tongue momentarily darting to your lips, “yes, yes!”
“Yes?” he repeated, eyes widening more, if that was possible, seeming in total disbelief.
With sudden bravery, you surged forwards, pressing your lips to his. Melting into the kiss, you felt his hands float up to your waist, hesitant at first until you kissed him harder, pulling him forwards with your hands fisted in the sweater you had recently given up.
Now he was kissing back with equal measures of hunger and tenderness, hands holding you firmly.
When you broke apart, exhilarated and reluctant to let each other go, you let your forehead fall against his.
“Yes.”
The grin he awarded you was brighter than all the lights around you. And later that night when the city burst into light again, barging past your curtains to interrupt your darkness, neither of you paid it any mind.

I'm back darling~ this time I'd love sth for Cassie & her female bestie 😁 bc the xmas is near so Imma give u these prompts: 'I’m a grown adult. I don’t want to take a picture with Santa Claus', 'Hey, want to help me get my parents off my ass about not having a date?'. Have a good day!
Had a ton of fun with this one, hope you enjoy!!!
Cassie Cage x F! Reader
Meeting the parents- I mean, meeting Santa.
----
It was a cold, quiet morning in your apartment. You were enjoying a warm cup of coffee in the early hours, a cheezy hallmark move playing on your TV as you try to work yourself into the holiday spirit. It had been a long year. Your phone dings once, but you ignore it, too focused on who was going to marry Santa. When it kept going off you finally checked it with a sigh.
Cassie-lassy
Hey
Hey, can I ask a favor?
Stop watching Christmas movies and answer me
Cassie was your best friend, but you weren't sure if you liked where this was going.
How did you even know that?
Anyway, whats up?
My parents are throwing a Christmas party this week and are hounding my ass about a date.
And?
Do u think u could pretend to be my gf, just for a day? Just to get them to leave me alone.
You almost choked on your coffee when you read the text. Damn, hallmark movie coming true? Your heart fluttered a bit. Cassie was your best friend. You didn't have feelings for her! That was ridiculous. All she needed was a... friend-to-friend favor. Plus, her dad was super rich, they were totally going to have good food.
Sure, when?
Uh, today good?
The lack of planning was exactly what you should've expected from Cassie. You laughed and drug your hands across your face, she was so lucky that you had the day off.
Bleh, ok. Ur dad better have some good food.
U bet ur ass! Pick u up at 6.
You laughed, and slowly picked yourself off the couch. You hoped that you still had an ugly sweater somewhere in your closet.
The time flew by unfortunately fast. You were rushing to gather your things as Cassie at outside in her 1965 red stingray corvette, (with a mako body) you loved that car so much. You couldn't help but geek out everytime you see it, but alas, there was definitely no time for that today. You frantically locked your apartment as you ran down the steps.
"Sorry I'm late!" Cassie laughed as you got in the car, and that awful flutter feeling returned. Oh no. This is not happening.
"Its chill, I doubt Dad will care if we're late to his party anyway." Your eye twitched, smile still wide on your face. You liked to be on time no matter where you were going, and by the look she was giving you you knew that Cassie said that just to annoy you. You rolled your eyes at her as she took off, the rumble of the car's engine instantly calming you.
Damn. You had never seen a house that big. As Cassie rolled through the big gates you continued to gawk at the beautiful architecture.
"I knew your dad was rich but, seeing how rich he is... is..."
"I know right? He moves into a new house almost every 6 months almost. Each one is bigger then the last one." You felt light headed just imagining how it must feel to have so much money. By the time Cassie parked and the two of you walked to the big doors, you could hear people loud and clear inside the house. This was way different then the tiny little Christmas reunions you were used too.
"I might throw an arm around you and call you nicknames a bit to make it seem legit, are you ok with that? I'm already asking a lot by getting you to come with me in the first place, the last thing I want is for you to be uncomfortable." You laughed.
"Cassie it's fine, all that comes with the 'pretend girlfriend' package." She sighs in relief, knocking on the door.
"Just making sure."
The door opens after a few moments, Cassie's mother answering the door, delighted at the sight.
"Cassie you made it just in time! Your dad just got his Ninja Santa costume out of storage. You should- oh, who is this?" You shyly waved, face flushing more from the situation than the cold. You were glad you were already blushing when Cassie links her fingers through your own.
"Mom, this is my girlfriend." Her mom's face lights up, but you would be lying if you said her obvious military posture and build didn't intimidate you. You introduced yourself and shook her hand with your free hand, making sure to shake with a firm grip.
"Its great to meet you. I was wondering when Cassie was going to bring someone home." Cassie sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as you awkwardly laughed. Her mom, Sonya, invited the two of you in. Your jaw almost dropped at the inside of the house.
The house was incredibly decorated. Wreaths, lights, an army of elves on the shelves, everything you could think of that spoke Christmas. A giant buffet on the right side of the room and a giant tree in the center of it all.
"Holy shit Cas," you wispered, she giggled squeezing your hand.
"I know right. They overdo it every year."
The rest party was amazing. You met many of Cassie's friends and family friends from the special forces. Kids were livey and running around the place. Even though the mansion and beautiful and intimidating, everything seemed to speak family to you. Every once in a while you would catch Cassie staring at you, but she would always wave you off, face flushing. It couldn't be an actual blush though, this was all an act, right?
"Ho ho ho, Ninja Butt-kicker Santa Claus has arrived!" A voice boomed from the center of the room. Adults laughed while children screamed with delight, booking it towards the gaint tree. Cassie sighed in embarrassment.
"I was beginning to wonder when dad would show up." You tried hard not to laugh when you dragged her to the middle of the room, catching a glimpse of her dad's "holiday spirit".
Kids hopped on his lap one by one, telling him what they want for Christmas, and (probably thanks to their parents,) each one was giving the wanted present and a fake ninja-star. You had thought every child was given a present and taken a picture, so surely he was going to "retire" for the night, right?
"Ho ho ho, Santa thinks that one, special little girl has yet to take a picture." He looked straight at Cassie and winked. She immediately recoiled.
"No. No no no. I'm a grown adult, I don't want to take a picture with Santa Claus." Everyone chuckled around the two of you. And Sonya walked over to push her into the center of the room with her dad, camera firm in her hands. Cassie sent an embarrassed look your way as she was forced to sit on Santa's lap.
"And what would you like for Christmas Cassie Cage?" Cassie looked like she wanted to melt away form her spot. Only answering because she had to.
"I don't want anything Da- Santa." Her Dad let out another Jolly, fake laugh.
"Sure you do! Santa knows everything, you know!" He hands her a small box, and winks at her.
"You know what Santa wants for Christmas? Grandkids." The crowd laughed, and your face immediately flushed a dark red, Cassie almost looking the same way. She covered her face as she hopped off her Dad's lap and speedwalked back to you without even opening the box.
The rest of the party went by so fast, and before you knew it, the two of you were walking back to her car in the cold.
"This was a ton of fun cas," She laughed, you wondered if she knew that you were still holding hands.
"Yeah, I'm glad you came with me. Sorry if my parents were a little overbearing." You shrugged, letting her know that it was fine. The silence after was unbearable. You wondered for a moment if you should ask her out. The party was nice, really nice, but it was honestly just because you were 'pretending' to be her girlfriend. You think she might've thought so too. You opened your mouth to speak, but she beat you to it.
"Hey, so, what if we made this whole... 'fake girlfriend' thing, a 'real girlfriend' thing?" You blushed, giving her hand a comforting squeeze.
"I think I'd like that." Her face lit up with a smile, squeezing your hand back. She stuck her hand in her pocket, and looked surprised for a moment, stopping in her tracks to pull out the box from earlier.
"I forgot about this thing."
"Mabye you should open it?" She let go off your hand to gingerly untie the bow, taking the lid off the box and tucking it underneath it. Her face flushed.
"It's mistletoe." Your face flushed in return. So thats what he ment. Cas started to nervously mumble something, closing the lid on the box, but you held a hand over hers before she put it away.
She instantly kissed back when you leaned in to complete the tradition. The gentle moonlight kiss becoming the only Christmas miracle you needed.
You were definitely living in a hallmark movie.

I've been trying to start collecting for victon! there's a store I'm near sometimes when I go visit my parents or friends back home that sells albums and they've had victon before so each time I go I check and if they have an album/version I don't have I get it and add it to my collection. I've gotten a lot of luck pulling one of my biases in their albums so far. I super wanna get their lightstick in a month or so. I did get hao's!! getting tattoo colored is a great purchase too!! can I ask what your tattoo is of? reminds me I need my two big ones touched up something awful. yeah the sleeve thing is a gripe I have with the regular version too. the things on the side have no bottom so half the stuff falls out! omg jealous you get a week off!! I go back to work tomorrow morning wahh haha. I hope dinner with your parents was nice and oh mann cornbread sounds yummy. my old roomate made some once that had bacon bits in it it was soo good!! haha idk where my guess would have been that you live but if you got that white christmas I'm gonna say LUCKY!! lol it was so warm here on christmas it didn't even register that it was winter. I mean I wore sleeves but I didn't even need a coat it was so warm! -secret carat
haha that's no problem! i like the ~mystery~ omg moving during the holidays?!? ur so brave, moving is so much work D: i hope ur settling in ok <3 oh how nice! are your nephews young? are they old enough that you can play with/talk to them?
oh cool!! string instruments seem so complicated to me >.<
ikr??? they could at least switch to it temporarily 😒😒 oh cute!!! a small seungkwan 🥺 lol we always have the best luck with the members we dont bias :'') i got shuas pc from my attacca album, but the vocal u concept was my fave (the mermaid one they did for ver 2), so i wasnt mad <3 oh cooool :D idk anything about victon, but im all about enabling people to consume hehehe oh wow! i havent bought any lightsticks yet, they're so expensive D: i figured if i ever go to a svt or mx concert, i'll just get the lightstick then :> oh nice!! and i did end up ordering dk's version bc i got an amazon giftcard for christmas lol ✌️🤪 yeah! i got a big jellyfish on my hip 😊😊 and i got it done in a watercolor style so it's not completely filled in, and theres spots where it looks like the colors are bleeding out :> i can dm u a pic later ^^ oooooo when did u get ur tattoos?

baby it's cold outside | miya a.
a/n: wondered what baby its cold outside was n turns out its a nice song now all in my head is some disney singing scene w atsumu sigh (then disney and xmas songs continued to play LMAO sorry not sorry until i realize what i just wrote ah yuck)
vacation's done by tomorrow, christmas and new year passed days ago, yet you're here, sitting across an annoyingly stupid and flirty miya atsumu who was doing anything to try to convince you to stay for the night.
there wasn't any reason for you at all to be here, but the man said it was to celebrate together and catch up. who thought catching up would have to end up for hours when the last time you'd seen each other was just two weeks ago at his brother's restaurant.
but then again, this was the older, openly an idiot twin. (not that osamu wasn't an idiot.)
"atsumu."
your voice is firm, but your fingers slowly and gently spinning the wine in the wine glass in it was loose.
he on the other side of the table's grinning and smirking, laughing, but heaven forbid you say he's cute out loud. his ego'll just boost, and he'll just end up convincing you to stay the night. you weren't letting him win another debate, no matter how small. not when it's your work's that's on the line. anymore coming to work late or skipping it and you're going to have to talk with your boss, and it wouldn't end well.
"it's cold outside, if ya didn't know," a mischievious grin on his face, his care-free side showing, contrasting completely to you, fingers fiddling and biting nails, your inside voice already scolding you, knowing about the earful you'll get tomorrow.
"it isn't anything different here inside," you snap, and to hide the small smile of satisfaction on your face when you see his lips get tugged down by gravity, you sip the last sip of wine in your glass.
"it's warm here! if it wasn't, then ya wouldn't be here then," he pouts, mumbling softly to himself. the wine attempts to tickle a giggle out of you, and with the antiques of the man in front of you, it can't be helped but released. "what're ya even laughing at? it ain't funny!"
"you're annoyingly cute. i hate you."
the words slip out like ice, and for the first time tonight, he shuts up, and you're the one laughing and smiling this time. a few seconds pass by, and you think the statement was still only a thought until you see him wide-eyed, looking back and forth from you and the food, his face flushed, a hand holding his cheeks in place and hiding them from you.
"i hate you," you peep, and this time, it's you leaning back onto the chair and away from him.
"ya love me."
and he's already back.
"no i don't. it was just an 'in the moment' thing. i'm leaving. i have work," but was it really?
atsumu hears the false in your words. in the first part at least. you really were leaving when he sees you collecting your things and already back in your shoes, and buttoning up your trench coat.
'it's just the alcohol,' you think, but it doesn't help at all with the knowledge that atsumu doesn't drink alcoholic drinks nor does he buy them so what you both drank today was just in other words, fancy grape juice.
thirty three seconds and you still haven't finished tying a ribbon or a tie, mind too clouded with thoughts and voices and your focus out of place.
it's all but cold when hands stop yours from attempting to loop ties to no avail, and after seven seconds, you're set up and ready to leave.
"...sure y'don't wanna stay? it's cold outside."
there's nothing more you want to do but agree out loud and let yourself have this defeat. especially when you've found the warmth he's been talking about in him. 'it's cold outside.'
"i'll see you next week."
it's not long before your feet get back to walking, and you find out that you've already lost to him even before he's even trying to convince you to stay half an hour ago. if he'd lost, this argument wouldn't even exist.
but atsumu was competitive, and wouldn't lose so easily.
'it's cold inside,' the faux blonde thinks, looking at his fingers when he's lying on the couch, could barely even bend or move his fingers. he's convinced he's lost.
everyone gets tired, and that includes the setter. as his eyes give up on him, shutting themselves like blinds, his ears wake up when there's three knocks on the door and it's creaking. the light that entered shot his eyes up and in just a second, he's already sitting.
"just waiting for my car to warm up. i'll be here for only ten minutes."
(you end up faking a fever when your office calls why you're late while atsumu made you breakfast.)

XMAS 2020 Holiday Break
REAL LIFE:  COUPLE: TBS X READER RATING: SMUT + ADORABLE!
Tumblr media
I smiled as I gently woke up this morning, the light coming around the curtains to indicating a bright winter sun and the snow reflecting it brightly. I Giggled as I felt the familiar stong and yet slender arms around my waist and I felt kisses up my neck his soft warm lips on my skin his face gently scratching my skin where he hasn't shaved in a couple of days.
"Ummm Good Morning" I smiled
"Good Morning Princess," He says
"Your never this active in the morning?"
"Well maybe I missed getting to snuggle my little princess?" he smirked pulling me so I laid on my back looking up at him, his bare chest moving slightly with his breaths, his messy bed head of blonde and brown hair falling slightly in his eyes, a smirk on his face as he looked at me in my little nightie "Hi"
"Hi Thomas" I smirked back "Somebodies all excited" I smiled moving my hips a little to rub myself on his morning wood
"How could I not? sleeping with such a beautiful princess beside me" He smirked "And flashing her tits at me"
"Alright come on" I giggled wrapping my legs around him he smirked pushing down his underwear and pushing inside me I smirked grabbing his shoulders as he began slowly moving back and forth thrusting inside me
"Uhh fuck! I missed you so much princess" he smirked holding my hips as he got faster and faster
"Thomas not so loud"
" Uhh I can't help it! You feel so good! fuck! I haven't been inside you in weeks my beautiful little princess"
"Uhh thomas Please!" I almost screamed as I got close ou bed baning on the wall a little
"Fuck I'm gonna cum princess!" he moaned
"Mummy? Daddy?" A little voice asks making us both look to the door seeing our daughter Melody stood in the doorway in her nightie
"MELODY!" we both yelled quickly separating and covering ourselves up in bed
"what's the matter Melody?" he asked her
"Lina says she's going to eat the chocolate out my calendar"
"I said I'd get it out for her!" Lina yelled as she ran in too
"Mummy!! I want my Christmas cereal!!" I heard David scream as he ran in and jumped on our bed in his Pj's
"Okay kids all of you downstairs we'll be there in a minute," I told them so they all ran off
"I forgot its the holiday break for them"
"We have got to buy a lock for our door" he sighs "Now... were where we?" Thomas smirked trying to kiss me again
"Thomas no, we are not continuing, we don't get down there in five minutes they'll be back" I warn him as I got up and got dressed into my little dress and slippers
"Please... I won't be too long, Just a couple more minutes princess" he whines
"Later, if your good" I smiled giving him a kiss and going down to deal with the kids giving them the chocolate out that advent calendars, there Christmas cereal and trying desperately to keep their little hands out from under the tree eventually Thomas came down having gotten dressed and got himself a coffee
"what do you kids wanna do today?" he asked them
"I'm busy" daniel said
"Doing what?" I asked
"Setting traps for Santa"
"Traps? Well Santa won't bring you any presents if you trap him" I explain
"This isn't about the presents," he says "This is about the Racecar last year. I asked for it and he never gave me it, so  waited all year and now he shall pay" he explained
"What uhh what are you doing for traps?" Thomas asked a little worried
"I watched home alone, It gave me some ideas," he says as he ran off upstairs for something
"Why is our son turning into Jigsaw?" Thomas asked
"I don't know... but I blame you" I answered
"Why do you blame me?"
"the crazy is your side of the family"
"I want to argue with you but... I don't have any points that disprove you" he answered sitting at the table "Hi hun, What are you drawing Lina?" he asked as she sat with her crayons
"I drew what's going to happen if Santa tried to come down our chimney" she explained "We have such a small chimney and only really the little log burner so he's going to get stuck and burn"
"uuuhh... okay honey, maybe go up and get dressed okay," I told her
"Okay mummy" she smiled running off to her room
"What were you and mummy doing this morning?" Melody asks tugging on thomas' shirt
"Uuuhh we were uhhh playing trampoline on our bed" Thomas lies
"I wanna play trampoline with daddy!" she giggled
"Ohh huu no you don't melody." I told her quickly "go on go get dressed," I told her so she ran upstairs
"Holiday break is so dam stressful"Thomas sighed
"It is," I said back "Wanna get drunk tonight?"
"Hell yeah"
"Hey kids? How about we get making Christmas cookies?" I asked them
"YAY!" they all yelled from upstairs
"Fine, you can make cookies, just stay the hell out my kitchen. I have a Christmas dinner to prep" he warned me heading to the kitchen as the kids ran down the stairs
"One, two, Three - Hu we're missing one" I said going upstairs to the boys room and seeing little Luke still asleep in his bed his fluffy mop of blonde hair poking out the covers "Luke? you wanna come to make cookies?" I suggested as gently I woke him up and he smiled nodding getting out of bed, I helped him to get dressed and he ran downstairs and straight into Thomas' arms
"there's my little munchkin" he laughs giving him a cuddle I laughed a little, of all our children luke looked the most like Thomas, almost exactly like Thomas when he was his age, honestly they all sort of did, they all got his hair and his brown eyes but luke was the most like him and even though I don't think Thomas would ever pick and choose with any of our children he had an attachment to Luke "Go on go have your breakfast and go help your mum and siblings with cookies," he says putting him in his seat at the table to have his cereal "You gonna go help your mum with cookies?" he asked him but luke shook his head tapping Thomas' shirt and banging his spoon "you wanna help me cook?" he asks and Luke nodded "Alright Kiddo, come on you can help me make dinner for tomorrow"
I smiled getting sorted with the table to help the kids make cookies luke waving to each of his siblings as he followed Thomas to the kitchen
"Mummy?" Melody whispered, "why doesn't luke like to play with us?"
"Does he not like us?" Lina asks
"No girls, Your brother loves you, He's just a shy little boy and he likes being around daddy"
"Why doesn't he talk?" David asks
"He just doesn't, Now you be nice to your little brother" I warned them.
