like i tend to hate every fandom cause its always annoying some way or other but theres actually so much i literally bloody despise about the ace attorney fandom and all that random fanon they made up without even realising it has absolutely nothing to do with the games. it isnt even good fanon if that could even exist most of it is total utter rubbish
#theres no point even listing everything i hate about it but its so annoying i literally have to#like some of the fanart like why do you even consider that the same characters#like phoenix has brown eyes in the games its so obnoxious when they keep making one blue like whats the point it looks so stupid#and like the styles and stuff you do realise its not you and your cliche of tumblr fandom mates dont you#dunno the word maybe i should avoid saying 'yasify' even though that lot says it all the time but really cant think of it#also why on earth do they keep feminising edgeworth so much it literally doesnt make any sense did we even play the same games#plus the whole explanation they make up for edgeworths backstory that has nothing to do with the games but they think its actually canon#obviously theyre all completely incapable of portraying emotions reasonably but why is it all so over the top and conpletely made up#not just the totally exxaggerated reactions but the whole stuff about von karma they make up thats total rubbish#like it can be strict and not brilliant and direct them in bad ways and mess them up without making up all that stuff#abmnd the stupid thing how they think phoenix and edgeworth had romantic feelings for each other in primary school its utterly ridiculous#and how theyre convinced of him sending him letters and that rubbish its totally stupid#and how they call edgeworth by his first name like go ahead and show us your talking about a totally differe t character#and phoenix being into art is a stupid fanon he never shows the slightest interest in it at all people just want him to cause they are#and i saw a screenshot interview it said acting though they get that wrong too it was shakespear not american schoolkids#on that topic how they make them into americans like they literally go in america this yadayada completely unironically#how can the whole fandom literally think its set in america its literally the stupidest thing the translaters fault but why do they have to#take it so seriously like its still obviously japan why make it america its literally so random im so sick of america#like it was written as japanese making the text english doesnt change the background context you idiots#also how they keep randomly making characters be parental figures to characters they arent like appollo and phoenix its ridiculous#plus the way they write the actual family relationships its hard to believe theyve ever even had family members the way it sounds like#their only reference for their knowledge of family relationships is a few cliche hollywood films#theres loads of other stuff too im sure but i cant think of it right now

"fanon lottienatters please stay away from me" oh!! shots fired!! 2,000 dead, 10,000 injured!! BUT curious about your specific definition for fanon lottienat and what you dislike about it <33
ohhhhh okay... alrrrrrr
this is like. one of my biggest issues. im not like a shipper, never rlly have been until yj but i dont like engage in discourse bc thats stupid.
But basically? Fanon lottienat just kinda strips anything thats interesting about the ship away. and makes it like. punk x preppy. loser x popular. ive even heard black cat and golden retriever which makes me want to rip my eyes out.
And its not even accurate to their characterization? at all? like youre flanderizing them but like..... not even their main traits. like ive seen people say "precrash lottie would be like charlotte from status update (curse that movie btw. the things i do for u courtney eaton) which is just. like not at all.
first off lottie is not popular. yeah, shes rich, but shes clearly somewhat of a loner (WHICH PARALLELS NAT?? WHICH MAKES IT MORE INTERESTING???) even courtney has said this in interviews. she feels ostracized, and a lot of it can be traced back to the flashback scenes we see, esp those about her relationship w her parents and her supposed mental illness. the 90s, especially the 90s in a high pressure rich family, was NOT a good place to have schizophrenia (and yeah theres the "she wasnt actually mentally ill" argument but that changes nothing because atp in the story her whole family and probably herself believed she was.
Then we have the nat characterization. The fanon "grumpy" to fanon lotties "sunshine". guys canonically nat smiles more than lottie. girlie was always grinning while lottie was experiencing the horrors all of s1. ofc they both went THROUGH it but that specific stereotype pissed me off sm i had to address it.
also, nat gets shown a lot as masc?? which is a fine headcanon but like for her style like the whole punk thing? she acc dresses relatively femininely.those are little irks abt nat but they bother me idc. too tired to write more on this rn but feel free to ask!
so basically taking this stuff into account - fanon lottienat uses a gross mischaracterization of both characters, especially lottie (also that suspiciously align w stereotypes HMMMMM) to literally make the ship more boring. You are making it a stupid and lame trope. You literally have these two insanely complex characters who mirror each other. Theyre not opposites attract, they are the same character in different skins. They're both loners, one because of her punk/rebel nature and nasty rumors, the other because of her mental illness and lack of closeness to people. Theyre both loners because of their social status and their fucked up home life. Theyre both providers - nat the hunter, bringer of physical and real food like the deer. Lottie the prophet, bringer of hope and, through the teams eyes, the birds, the bear, etc. Lottie who begs to be a martyr but is denied nat who runs from it but shoulders it anyways. They're both bleeding hearts they both give soul to the team and are some of the most genuine characters but they present it so differently.
The fact that the majority of content grossly mischaracterizes them and is the widely accepted fanon just.. sucks tbh. and the fact that people get so up in arms about them, and literally attack fans of other characters (lottielee fans... travis fans....) for no reason?? all these other characters do is contribute to what makes lottienat such a compelling and fucked up and interesting ship. i love them so much but lwk most of yall are insane and dont even appreciate them for what they really are.

I don't like making posts like this, I don't like opening my blog up for people to come and harrass me but oh my god, why does the fandom allow posts like this to get away unscathed?
You don’t have to like Marina. I'll never claim that. You can like or dislike whoever you want.
But I do wonder, if Marina was played by a white woman would we get nearly as many posts like this? Would everyone be as okay with it? Would we have been so quiet about the fact that Ruby Barker was harrassed for this role? Or would there be way more people defending her? Would she suddenly be sympathetic when now shes not?
Why are we all so okay with taking this character with a nuanced story, put in a horrible situation with almost no options and turning her into a villian?
Like did we watch the same show? Did you miss the bit where she doesn't want to find a husband at all and only starts when she thinks shes been abandoned, which she only believes because she gets a forged letter saying she was? Did you not see Portia slap her? Did you not also watch a man old enough to be her grandfather being forced on her?
Lying to Colin wasn't okay, I'm not defending that, but literally tell me what her options were?
The man she loves is dead, but she doesn't even know that she thinks he abandoned her, so she can't reasonably assume Phillip will take responsibility when his brother won't. The only people Portias interested in introducing to her are those she wouldn't introduce to her own daughters. She can't reasonably think Colin will be open to her as a wife since shes pregnant becausethats not the norm. But Colin is, he says he would have married her even knowing. And Colin also doesn't view Marina as a villian, in season two hes sad yeah, but he’s also guilty because he doesn't think she deserved what happened.
This is a nuanced messy situation but no one wants to look at that.
Like you all make it very clear you view her as a whore, because she did a very normal thing and had sex. You all view her as a manipulative snake of a person, when if she was even the Whistledown article wouldn't have been a stop for her because she would have tried to get out of it. You conveniently forget that she almost killed herself in an attempt to abort her children because of her mistreatment post Whistledown article because that takes away from the idea you've concocted that shes some villainous bitch.
But then you turn around and want Penelope to have sexual knowledge that she realistically wouldn't and canonically doesn’t. You praise her for her Whistledown work even though it keeps hurting people she loves and shes lying about doing it.
This is weird, posting about how you can't wait for a character to die, and how you hope the death is - lets be honest here- humiliating, is a bizarre thing to do.
Its even more bizarre to do that, tag the character, and then also tag two ships that really the post really isn't about.
Like why is Polin tagged? Because they're both mentioned? This isn't a polin moment. You don’t talk about them at all in the meat of the post. Why is Philoise tagged? Because she's an 'obstacle' for them? They haven't even met, they aren't mentioned at all, they have nothing to do with this.
And on top of tagging these things you say "don't try and defend her to me" which why would we you clearly wouldn't listen. You follow that with saying "If you like her you probably suck" and claim to have tagged this as anti marina when you didn't. You put this in her main tag and then added "death to marina".
Theres no respect to your peers in the fandom, and clear disrespect to people who do like this character and are actually willing to engage with the character beyond fanon portrayal. Because thats what this is its not even taking her at face value anymore.
You wonder why people dislike this fandom, specifically the polin side of it, and do things like this. We as a community need to improve because stuff like this isn't uncommon, this is just one of the most blatant I've seen.
I'm going to be entirely honest if you follow quotegirl19, or don't see the issues with Marinas portrayal and treatment by the fandom this is not the blog for you.
#rainy talks#yeah I bit the bullet but i feel abit better#bridgerton#marina thompson#colin bridgerton#Penelope Featherington#I'm only tagging them because they're metioned rather prominently (which is how you actually use tags)#polin#for the same reason as stated above#I'm not tagging philoise though I don't think its important enough#marinas treatment in this fandom reeks of racism and misogyny

Hiii :) it’s me again, the anon who yapped about fanon Vox, I’m here because I need to yap again: I’m kinda worried about season 2
After rewatching season 1, I felt like the stakes weren’t high enough for Charlie & the Hotel. One would think going into battle against Heaven would be devastating and disastrous but the only characters that permanently died were…background characters. I don’t count Sir Pentious because bro is alive and will most likely have a bigger role to play in the story now that he’s in heaven. The hotel was destroyed, yeah, but like minutes later it was rebuilt with the help of Lucifer.
That’s another reason why I feel like the stakes aren’t high enough, they added Lucifer way too soon. How are Vox & other future villains meant to stand a chance against the King of Hell?? I think it would’ve been better if took Charlie a couple of seasons to convince her dad to help her cause.
My main worries for season 2 are about Vox because I can’t stop thinking about him LMFAO. Anyways, I’m scared Vox will be a second Adam, goofy villain that gets killed off pretty quickly and anti-climactically. Vox was already a silly villain in season 1 (sending Pentious to the Hotel as a spy, cheering when Alastor got his ass beat, etc, etc.) so it’ll feel like a waste if they continue writing him that way. I want Vox to be an actual threat and kill one of the main characters PERMANENTLY. Preferably Angel Dust cause it’ll cause a shit ton of discourse since he’s well-loved by both the characters in-universe and the fandom but I don’t think that’ll happen. I just need Vox to lock in 🙏
Don’t get me wrong, I love Hazbin Hotel (only because of Alastor & the Vees but shhh 🤫) but I want the story to evoke emotions from me, I wanna be anxious, I wanna feel hyped, but I don’t feel any of this when things go too perfectly for the main characters and everything goes wrong for the antagonists.
I’m so sorry for the long ass essay, I would make my own post but I don’t wanna be perceived 😭😭
oh i completely understand ur worries nonny dont even worry about the essay
i definitely feel like theres a Risk of that happening to vox especially since . well. vivz doesnt have the best track record to begin with (cannot speak for hb but the way she deals with some characters and resolves their arcs is. questionable) but i personally think (hope? believe?) that since there are members on the writing and animation team who are fans of the vees that she wont just kill vox off for no reason / comic relief(or any of the vees, really) + also of all the vees vox is probably the most likely to die in a dramatic scene considering how he and al are set up to be character foils and killing him off in the stupidest way would be such a horrific storyline fumble i cannot in good conscience believe that vivziepop would even be able to fathom its stupidity. of course im holding out hope still because if theres one thing ive learnt about the internet its that you do not under any circumstances trust any public figures to make the right decisions ever and this applies to animated shows too.
vox killing someone forever would really manage to cement his place in the storyline as a big baddie, but i do have to disagree on wanting angel dead- personally- and as much as it pains me to say this- i think him killing husk or niffty would have the same effect while not interfering with angels healing arc: in fact itd even further angels healing arc and self discovery, alongside giving alastor a reason to perhaps go toe to toe with vox. (i do think that killing angel off would have an interesting result but it feels like an abrupt and unnecessary move to make, tho it may just be ny preference to want to see recovery arcs fulfilled so those characters can live their best lives)
++re what you said ab the hotel not having enough stakes for the next season, i totally agree- bringing in lucifer feels a bit like a cheap copout and didnt really serve to further **charlies** character arc (arguably you could say making up with her father developed her backbone more but. hm. idk you couldve done that in a multitude of other ways sooo)

i know i said id write this post four hours ago but i had to do the merge dragons event. anyway.
WINGS ! how the fuck would they be treated on smps where theres pvp? (this is an au where Everyone has wings. and talons but well get into that Later. this is about the wings sdhkjgl)
(context post btw: here)
they are very much a weak point in combat, id saying. if you fuck someones wings up, they are done for. cant fly away, permanent damage. and theres not many ways to defend them (beyond putting armour on the flesh and bone part of the wing - which would do a lot more than it sounds like!). so i do think that it would be social taboo to go for someones wings in battle.
but even if it is social taboo.. accidents happen, and it works differently on different servers, right? and thats what this post is about ! focusing on smps where theres actual Combat (sorry hermitcrafters and kww collab fans)
first off, my beloved.. the dream smp. honestly! i think people would NOT go for the wings. there may be wars and actually genuinely fucked up stuff, but going for the wings in a fight is taking it too far. accidents have DEFINITELY happened tho, what with the sheer amount of withers and explosions. like phils wings being fucked up! yes i know thats a canon thing but im using it to prove my point here. the EXCEPTION to this 'people not intentionally going for the wings' thing is, well. c!dream. the fucker would INSTANTLY go for the wings whenever he has an opportunity. its a weak point, of course he'd abuse the fuck out of it, like. its impossible to expect anything otherwise.
lifesteal!! this ones fun to me because i think theyd have Concrete Rules on this. like they already do! from off the top of my head, i remember that netherite armour is banned, for example. i think going for the wings would just be... another thing thats banned. and no matter how deep into the Lore that people get, those rules are GEEENERALLYYYYY followed. the wings one for sure is. it may be the dEaDlIeSt SeRvEr, but theyre all there willingly. getting their wings fucked up is not something ANYONE wants. i dont know enough about lifesteal to pinpoint specific times that Accidents wouldve happened but! whatever. this is one rule that they always follow i think. (please dont kill me for this one if you disagree, i havent watched enough lifesteal)
now the life series... naturally, going for the wings is banned. ..but only nominally, really. all bets are off when youre on red, right? i really dont think there could be anything to stop people on red from going for peoples wings in fights. i mean, depending on your interpretation of the life series (as in, does being on red actually make someone Bloodthirsty like most common fanon, or is it just a Thing that lets someone attack others?), this can change, but i like the first one, so with that in mind... yeah nothing would stop people on red from going for the wings. this only gets MORE INTERESTING if you believe life series and hermitcraft to be connected in some way... with the inevitable wing injuries that would come from the life series, if they just... go back to hermitcraft and other servers afrterwards... if those injuries are permanent (which i do believe they are), then... oh that would be Something hehe. keeping this in my back pocket a fic idea, yall are free to yoink it.
and last but not least, bcs i dont actually watch that many smps (esp not with fighting) or whatever... unstable universe. pretty much what i said for lifesteal! like! i dont see any reason why itd be any different. yes unstableverse doesnt have Rules like lifesteal, but... theyre mostly the same people. if they can follow that Rule in lifesteal, combined with the social taboo thing, i think that they wouldnt really go for the wings. thats just a line you dont cross. (..also wemmbu did canonically yoink Most of the elytras on the whole server at one point, and in this context i think it would be funny if he just somehow managed to disable flight for a while, but thats a whole other thing unrelated to wings in combat lmao)
ANYWAY YEAH THATS THAT. I HAVE SOOOO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT HOW WINGS IN COMBAT WOULD ACTUALLY WORK. might write a post about that.
this is all headcanons !! im making shit up, as always !! o7

Sorry if this is more of a redundant question or related to one that you already did, but what is your opinion on people claiming that ships with little evidence or up to interpretation are "canon"?
I believe you mentioned this somewhat with FranFlam, but what about with other ships that you like where this seems to be common with like Metadede? Or is it the case of "it's fine as long as they aren't attacking people who think otherwise"?
under the cut! nah totally valid q anon i love talking about stuff like this:
tbh i think kirby is just a series that should not have romance in it at all. innocent things like ribbon and kirby in 64 is like fine because i personally dont take kid relationships too seriously but like anything else i just dont think its the place for it. for metadede in particular, ofc i love shipping and i like to scream with other shippers and pick out things and see it in a shippy context but i absolutely dont think metadede is canon, will ever be canon, or even particularly Should be canon actually. im just gonna stick to metadede and franflam like your examples for this because you dont really see people trying to claim any particular (fanon) m/f ship as canon in this fandom but hey even tho i think a lot of us can agree nintendo makes some great games, nintendo is also a big soulless corporation that does not care about us. if youre someone desperate to find a cake in the crumbs on the floor in terms of canon main/major character queer rep, anything nintendo is absolutely not the place for that
to answer your question, that sums up how i feel about other people who try to make canon ship claims too. i try to think the best of people because the lines get really blurred when a lot of people just like making jokes about ships being canon vs Actually genuinely thinking that, but for anyone who legitimately does try to push their ship as canon its just kinda like Mmmm. that gets a thumbs down from me... its not like problematic in of itself (unless you try to claim that people who dont like the ship are homophobic by default or something. youre getting thrown in the grain silo and you probably need to go outside) so like technically i guess i dont care, but i sure do think its obnoxious as hell and also absolutely REEKS of "FRIENDS dont DO that!! people who arent dating dont DO that!!!!! so they must be dating!!!!" and then the thing in question is the two characters like holding hands sometimes. of course theres something to be said about Writer intent but cmon this is a series where people kiss each other on the lips platonically all the time i cannot take canon ship claims seriously. why is so much of peoples worth in a ship staked in whether its "canon" anyways? it just comes off as wanting a reason to lord over others why a certain ship is better than everyone elses. unless two characters make out in a cutscene complete with blushing afterwards prefaced by a lot of romantic tension through the entire game previously its not canon. thats my hot take lol. we have a rare series where canon romance isnt in your face and shoved down your throat every moment and yet some bad folks in the fandom will try to do that for you still. unbelievable

hi sky :']
8 9 10 maybe ?
violence ask game ; OPEN
hi pipa
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
artificer is pebbles barn cat. rivulet is a short time visitor of moon. sig didn't expect hunter to come back (and it didn't), challenges aren't canon but if they were i'd be a bit pissed if a green bean killed me after i tried so hard to stop it
iterators having little kitties is a fun thought but. thats it. a fun thought. not something that actually happened to most iterators
i will forever die on the hill that suns and spearmaster are odd. because iterators were built with the morals that creatures are "lesser" than them and need to be "helped" (not something i agree w personally but. its in the text.) the fact that suns started getting attached to spearmaster is implied that it is supposed to be embarrassing (nsh: im gonna tell everyone this juicy information~) because it doesnt happen and like. being attached to a lesser creature? lol?
look. no REAL problem with everyone associating an iterator with a slugcat and drawing them like companions for a bit im just forever a strong believer that suns is fucking weird!!!
9. worst part of canon
its still the puppet face articulation thing. and as much as i love suns, their reason for not giving spearmaster a mark of communication really didnt matter because, even ignoring the unnaturality of spearmaster, it was traveling with a RED OVERSEER. already obvious that slugcat is special
10. worst part of fanon
this is probably my anxiety talking but i sometimes feel a bit squished. im neutral abt a lot of things in fanon and dislike shipping but i never really get to say anything or complain because im afraid of. either actually ruining someones fun or getting the "you're ruining our fun!" excuse every time an aro and/or ace person dares to talk about how ship-centric fandom can feel at times and how that can be alienating
i keep stressing. theres literally nothing wrong with shipping of any kind. i hope you all keep doing what you're doing forever and ever! (hi pipa. love that you basically pioneered an entire ship and never ever stop posting about it) i just dont know what is appropriate complaining and what is overstepping into rude territory
#asks.txt#dieselpvnk#i love you spearmaster i love you suns but your campaign doesnt always make sense#but about the last querstion. hi im autistic#it's hard for me to tell what is a valid opinion to say out loud and what is petty#i love u mutuals wwwwwwwwww

This might be a bit of a rant but I just went through the dumbledore meta tag and theres way to many people who say that he groomed Harry to die. When thats not the case at all. Like okay prior to the end of gof he believed Harry had to die but its not like he wanted it. Its just that Harry had to die so voldemort could die and then Harry had to believe he had to die so he could survive. And I know people say it might be too complicated but its not that because I understood it when I was 11. And with the horcruxes dumbledore obviously wanted to destroy them all himself its just he died before he could and he only brought Harry along to get the locket because he needed another person. And he was the one to drink the poison. Like honestly if dumbledore had so little regard for Harry he would have just killed him himself. Voldemort even gives him the perfect opportunity at the end of ootp. And brings it up. Dumbledore probably would not have protected Harry right before he died either. Its just so very frustrating to me that its such a prevelant thought even amongst people who arent fully anti dumbledore.
Rants are okay! More than welcome here. Not like I haven't gone on several of my own.
Full disclosure though anon, I don't go through that tag or through Albus' regular tag for mostly that reason, so I don't know what the newest incorrect ideas circling are. The grooming narrative is wrong and tired, which in this fandom of constantly-recycled ideas is a miracle. There are so many people who either 1) haven't read the books, 2) have read the books but haven't read closely enough into Dumbledore's parts to fully understand him, or 3) some combination of the above, but they still feel fully qualified to play telephone with some incorrect BS that one fan said years ago and spread those fanon interpretations around like gospel.
Dumbledore's status as the "wise" one who has all the answers is incorrectly conflated with the idea that "he knows and he chooses every decision for every other character". Which isn't only incorrect, it's also horribly infantilizing and demeaning to other fully grown characters who make decisions which impact the greater story.
Similarly to yourself at age 11, it's not very hard for people of any age to posit out why That Woman had Dumbledore in the positions he was in, and why he made the decisions he made, without bashing by dumbing it down to "Albus, a character who famously turned down positions for fear of becoming too powerful and controlling, made all these decisions because he wanted power and control actually".
Dumbledore has a lot of political positions because he defeated Grindelwald and, after the whole "this war happened at the same time as the Muggle World War 2" thing, there probably weren't that many powerful, smart, qualified witches and wizards left in the whole world that people could trust. You know, because Grindelwald and his acolytes murdered them all.
It's likely that Dumbledore didn't want to be Supreme Mugwump and a Hogwarts Transfiguration Professor at the same time, let alone be lugging around an Order of Merlin, First Class, but he was probably overruled. The wizarding world had to had a hero to celebrate, after all. Didn't Albus realize what he'd done? He'd saved the continent! Stopped a madman! Who else is going to help us run our broken nations from the International Confederation of Wizards?
Dumbledore was somehow the only teacher in a school full of children able to recognize the budding fascist sociopath and his equally loathsome little gang, but (as he already says in HBP) he didn't intervene the second Tom stepped into Hogwarts because he believed that Tom deserved a chance to make a better first impression on his teachers and peers than he'd made on Dumbledore himself. Now, mind you, if he had gone around talking about what he'd learned about Tom Riddle, who's to say anyone in this "purebloods rule, everyone else drools" society would have taken him seriously? And then the fandom would have complained that "Dumbledore didn't let Tom meet people naturally and have a second chance to be better". You literally cannot win with these people.
Dumbledore didn't know about Petunia's personality or life beyond that she wrote him once asking to come to Hogwarts and that she was Lily's only surviving relative. All that other shit is FANON. The only people who knew what an ugly person Petunia likely was by 1981 was James Potter (who's dead by the time this knowledge matters) and Severus Snape (who, I notice, did not seem bothered by having Harry live with her and never brought it up).
This idea that Albus "knew" the Dursleys were bad and left Harry there anyway is wrong and we still don't have specifics on what exactly he suspected was going on at the Dursleys once Harry started at Hogwarts. (Because that's another big fanon idea, that Harry told people about the Dursleys in detail and asked not to go back. Neither of those things happened. Harry's not that type of character.) For fuck's sake, McGonagall in book one was not saying she sensed the Dursleys were going to mistreat Harry by neglecting him, she was worried that he was going to turn out like Dudley, who at age ONE was "screaming for sweets" while lashing out at his mom in public. This is exactly why book 6 Dumbledore makes a point of telling the Dursleys that their neglect for Harry was inexcusable, BUT they had also abused their other child by being too indulgent with him.
I've talked about this in other places, but Harry is not allowed to have autonomy over his own thoughts and decisions according to some fans. They believe all his decisions were "manipulated", so he can't have made them on his own. (Harry deciding to sacrifice himself because he understands that defeating Voldemort is more important than his own life, even if he does want to keep living??? GASP!) But often in their own works, in the quest to get Harry away from "manipulative Dumbledore" they just shove him under someone that they turn into an actually manipulative person, whether that's a girlfriend or boyfriend or mysterious relative or godfather or resurrected parents or what-have-you.
That brings us to the oft-relitigated plot points "when did Dumbledore learn about the Horcruxes/realize Harry was about to die", which I think you've covered more than aptly in your ask. Dumbledore didn't realize Harry was a Horcrux until the end of year 2. Dumbledore didn't want Harry to die. Dumbledore had multiple chances to kill Harry, or let him die, in the narrative that he actively did not take. And the fact that Dumbledore's very last act was to protect Harry from possibly being permakilled by someone Lily's bond of blood DIDN'T cover makes it very clear that to the end Dumbledore worked to give Harry his best chance to survive, even if he wasn't 100% sure of that possibility of survival. There were no other options, or they would have been taken.
The opposite side of this argument doesn't even make sense, because it would mean that Dumbledore did know 100% that Harry could come back thanks to Voldemort hijacking the blood protection. So then... what do bashers want him to do in that scenario? Throw Harry at Voldemort one summer for the lolz? What if Voldemort had double-tapped on Harry at age 15? Two Avada Kedavras juuuust to make sure. There goes the whole rest of the series.
Dumbledore says in DH that "Harry must not know, not until the last moment", which to me says he envisions Harry not learning that last terrible thing until all of Voldemort's other Horcruxes have been destroyed, so that he can (paraphrasing) have the strength to do then what must be done—annnd then hopefully come back and kick Tom's ass.
*sigh*
Like I said, I typically don't go through those tags for that reason. It just leads to me blocking or muting lots of people. It's bad enough that a bunch of TERFs who don't even care about the books are hijacking the fandom now, the last thing I need to think about is people who are actually fans letting their feelings get in the way of their reading comprehension.
#fireandgoldposts#thanks for the ask!#not fireandgold#it's no secret at this point that I'm pro ''treat Albus Dumbledore exactly as he deserves and dispense with the bashing bullshit''#he definitely made mistakes and has flaws but overinflating them is stupid#just search 'harry and dumbledore' on tumblr anon and you'll mostly be fine. stay out of the standard tags lmao#or mute every literally anti-albus variant tag like I have#this ask took forever to answer sorry about that :')

for the choose violence ask game, because you haven't been choosing violence lately! (and you can do this for any ship if you want) 6, 13, 14 please :)
Oh hi! Also i do feel like ive chosen violence lately but scrolling thru my tumblr it seems like maybe its only been on discord not here so nvm then lmao. Thanks for your close eye im very flattered ❤️
6- which ship fans are the most annoying:
Okay im taking this literally - youre asking "annoying" not "what is the most evil behavior you have seen in the name of shipping" so im answering it as such. And itll probably be... well ig not rly a ship but more just the ppl who go to any and all lengths to insist that caryl is platonic bff status 4ever. Like theres ppl who just believe it and shrug, and there are ppl who make it their lifes fucking mission to pop up in rbs and rts and whatever to be like ACTUALLY THEY CALLED EACH OTHER THEIR BEST FRIEND SO THERE and its like a) im rly sorry that youve never had a partner that you consider your best friend and b) i feel very secure in my "dreamt they were married with a kid" and "i love you as parting words" knowledge that caryl is, in fact, romantic. But its annoying. Like little flies to swat away. Like who is this hurting. Actually in general anyone who goes out of their way to comment "i dont like this ship" on a post or whatever is annoying. Everyone is annoying. Except ppl who ship caryl and hellcheer.
13- worst blorboification
Mr guitar hero himself. Yes hes a gremlin idiot doofus w a heart of gold, but he is also an asshole who likes intimidating ppl and mocking ppl and generally being a menace. Thats WHY his scene w chrissy was so special. We saw him go straight from unprovoked yelling at a roomful of ppl and manhandling nervous children -> quite literally falling all over himself to make a sad scared pretty girl laugh. He contains multitudes. Hes not a one note puppy dog. Appreciate his assholery. Blorbify THAT.
14- that one thing you see in fics all the time
Oo... this is 100% choosing violence... OOOOO.......... OOO!!!!!! also im assuming this is meant to be "see it all the time and its a bad thing" so thats fhe reason for my ooos
There are so many. So many. SO. MANY. So many hellcheer fics w certain kinks that are extremely triggering and off putting to me and its not even always in a pwp context and its not always tagged either and it feels like its rapidly increasing in presence and frequency and i feel like you could probably piece together what it is from my hints + my previous posts vaguely mentioning it but believe me i have Thoughts and that is 100% choosing violence and anyway. Its in fics. A lot. And its upsetting as a general thing to me but the normalization of it is directly correlated w the lack of tagging it and yeah its just like. Gah
Anyway im gonna end on a happy nonviolencechoosing note and say my favorite fanon is that both eddie and chrissy are bi lmao bc im bi and also it seems like so many hellcheer shippers are bi also which is magnifique. I think part of it is the whole subversive aspect - cheerleader girl is supposed to be with jock boy but instead shes w antithesis of jock? Metalhead boy is supposed to hate conformity and instead is w the most stereotypical manifestation of conformity? Just rings very true to me as a bi woman re secret longing and innermost desire and scary-but-freeing acknowledgment of living outside your prescribed box etc etc. Anyway thanks/sorry lmao

you pointed out nova storm being yellow now and it's going to haunt me wondering if ciro neili (did some of the character designs) did that as a friggin' monkey team reference
okay so the thing is Nova Storm is a rainmaker. a character that barely exists but IS from G1.
the yellow one. but the thing is that even though the rainmakers are like, quite popular, since they are seekers, and have been referenced in fanon for decades, this character did not get a name until 2015. From Ask Vector Prime. So the rainmakers are Acid Storm (green), Ion Storm (blue) and Nova Storm (yellow.)
Obviously Nova Storm (yellow) is very confusingly similar to completely unrelated character Sunstorm. The other yellow seeker.
Apparently some old fanon staight up asserts Nova Storm is just a miscoloured Sunstorm? god. who knows. Also, to be clear, despite the fact Sunstorm's name ends in -storm, he is NOT a rainmaker. completely unaffiliated. coincidental.
this is where shit gets weird
so in 2015 Nova Storm gets a name. okay, solid. We have agreed the yellow one is named Nova Storm.
Three years later in 2018, Cyberverse airs. This is the new Nova Storm.
Purple
Girl
why girl? why purple?
"well nate," you say, "isnt more girls better? why would you question that?"
well because this is slipstream:
Why are they so similar????? Both purple, both girls. like, really similar purples, too! Theres different models for the girl and boy seekers.
so this is Cyberverse Acid Storm, another rainmaker. due to, I believe, a miscommunication during production, some episodes use the female seeker model for Acid Storm and some use the male. Addressing this on twitter staff has owned up to the mistake and instead of getting defensive, rolled with it and said hey, well, its in there, so its canon! Acid Storm is genderfluid lol. And I kind of love that.
In any case you can see distinct differences in the models, so like. if Nova Storm used the male model, at least it would be different from slipstream. as it stands purple nova storm, for some reason, is one of the most frequently appearing background seekers, so it ends up, imho, being VERY confusing. especially if you arent like me and the rest of us freaks and you cant recognize every character by a picture of their ankle.
so like, to be clear, I'm pretty sure Cyberverse is actually the first time any actual STORY used the name nova storm. I think the only thing predating cyberverse is the ask vector prime. at the very minimum this is the first major use of the name, for the purple female character. at this point the connection to the yellow rainmaker is.... tenuous??????
but then we drop the card game:
which says she, so i guess... girl?
nova storm also apparently appears in idw 2019 where, again, apparently, girl? but look. yellow. YELLOW. all yellow. rainmaker.
so THIS:
this is the art attached to the ask vector prime post. what even the FUCK is that. sorry the art is nice but what IS that. is that a SEEKER? WHO is that. that PRIMARILY black with gold accents. thats not the rainmaker design or even the purple one we'd get.
i genuinely hate referencing this but the only other appearance of nova storm is as an angry birds pig costume and while its still mostly yellow i DISTINCTLY note the black cannons and yellow and hands like. thats. thats from the ask vector prime design.
...right?
this is the Iron Factory third party Nova Storm figure from their rainmakers set. this was revealed in 2019. the angry birds costume is from 2020. 2020. i genuinely think it might be possible iron factory put their foot down and said "the black and gold design fucks" and everyone forgot hes suppsoed to be neon yellow
now HERE... HERE FINALLY.... is EARTHSPARK NOVA STORM
holy shit. look at this. we have nuked the yellow from this design. she's now PRIMARILY black with gold HIGHLIGHTS. who IS this. i guess nova storm has actually now been female in MORE appearances than male????? and as far as I can tell, the gold and black design traces specifically back to deviantart user bdixonarts who has virtually no industry credits OTHER than creating the modern design for Nova Storm???? she, uh, crushed it, i guess
also an incredibly fun note i didnt know until just now: do you know who voiced earthspark nova storm? any guesses?
Nicole Dubuc. nicole fucking duboc plays her AND skywarp. nicole dubuc is the head writer. she wrote rescue bots. and final side note, tfp ratchet's catchphrase "I needed that!" came explicitly from her scripts lol. god this is so funny to me she went from recording rescue bumblebee's lines before they were replaced with beeps to just straight up being Novastorm and Skywarp in a mainline show.
anyway who the FUCK is nova storm?
dude, who the fuck knows.

do you have thoughts or feelings on the tes fanon about tigers being weird semi-immortal spirit like dragons? i love the aesthetics of it all and i feel like it could be another neat ancient cyrodiil thing but i have no idea how they would've interacted with like, the early alessians or even the ayleids (other than that "tiger sport" thing)
yeah i really like it and i feel like it might be one of those things that at least a Couple of writers regard as canon and slip in here and there bc theres Just enough in there in canon for it to seem like theres smth to it
like "tosh" apparently translates to both tiger and dragon. and i believe this was from one of thos eso Q&As, which i take with a grain of salt, but like that tracks considering "tosh raka" (which obv is "akatosh" switched around a little) who is of the tiger people and became a dragon and is kind of maybe implied to have mantled akatosh?
and then getting to extra-canon dev sources, i know MK's shit has it come up a few times, like particularly irt tiber septim. since according to MK he was obsessed with tigers (and called guars tigers bc they had stripes and the dumbass couldnt pronounce "guar") and his "favorite bedtime story" heavily features tigers. which is SUPER interesting if you choose to accept it it pretty much directly states that tigers used to exist and are gone now
and this wouldnt have even been a result of the stupid "tiber septim making cyrodiil temperate" thing (probably) bc it was apparently his childhood bedtime story. like it implies that tigers used to exist, were generally feared, maybe were supernatural (they talk in the story but its written as a folktale for children so take that with a grain of salt).
and its (probably) not like tiger is just the cyrodiilic word for dragon since they are described as cats but i think theres a heavily implied connection
yeah idk exactly what to make of it... personally i tend to favor mundane worldbuilding lol and interpret it as being considered a sort of "royal" quasi-mythical animal in cyrodiil considered to have ties to akatosh (and whether they actually do or not is unknown) but i absolutely do buy into the potential for it being deeper.
edit: the alessia tapestry i textured for a mod has tiger motifs on it for a similar reason. kinda loosely defined headcanons about them being seen as symbols for royalty, secondary to the Dragon of course but
#it makes me wonder like. have tigers ever really been mentioned in the games? besides in the contexts mentioned here#not counting senche-tigers in eso or whatever the hell generic mmo mounts they have#the only thing i can think of is in battlespire theres tigerskin rugs everywhere but like. its battlespire

so i saw a kata*ng post saying the fact that there are barely any male zutara fans proves the shippers are just thirsty for zuko and project themselves onto katara which is funny cuz nobody argues male katan*ng fans are projecting onto Aang. Although I suppose their point was that both men and women ship kataa*g but zutara is mostly shipped by women, which might have some truth to it. personally i think the reason for that is cuz men usually tend to stick to canon material regardless of the
(continued) quality of canon's content, including ships whereas women are more likely to be into fanon transformative work that changes canon if it doesnt satisfy them or they find it lacking. Theres a reason most fanfiction writers are women for example. what do you think?
First of all, ‘men don’t like the relationship where the girl actually has agency in how it develops and where her feelings are considered relevant, but prefer the relationship where the girl has no agency and is handed like a trophy to the hero for saving the world, despite the fact that the only thing she ever actually said about her potential feelings for him were that she was ‘confused’‘ really isn’t the ‘gotcha’ those people seem to think it is.
Like, no shit, straight men (including bryke, incidentally, and I’m sure that the fact that adult Aang was literally modeled after Michael Dante DiMartino is totally a coincidence) seem more inclined to like the relationship where the boy had clear feelings for the girl, who gave no sign of returning them, and all he had to do was wait for her to See The Light and realize she wanted him, the Nice Guy, and not the Bad Boy over there with the wicked cool scar on his face--and before anyone accuses me of pulling this out of my ass, why don’t y’all go and check out the Book 4: Air video that was released at SDCC and see what they thought of Zutara and also how they treated their own fanbase. That is literally one of the oldest Straight Romance tropes in the book--boy likes girl, girl is oblivious, boy finally Wins Girls Affections by saving the day or whatever at the end and she’s suddenly all over him despite having shown next to no interest in him over the course of the series.
So yeah, no wonder men like that relationship, and women tend not to.
Of course, the other side of that coin is the misogyny inherent in insisting that women are so ruled by their attraction to men, specifically, (nevermind that many of us are queer and not all of us are even attracted to men--interestingly, I know more than one lesbian who is a zutara shipper!) that it’s completely impossible that they watched a show where two characters had a series-long relationship arc from enemies to friends and believed there was potential for it to progress even further, from friends to lovers--no, they must only think zuko is hot and want to project onto Katara so they could be with him. (Nevermind the fact that this makes no sense--there’s a character who, in canon, actually gets to kiss Zuko. If projecting ourselves into relationships with Zuko was the point, why aren’t we all Maiko shippers instead?)
And on the... third hand??? What does it even matter? Even if Zutara shippers were mostly women because we all just wanna make out with Zuko (rather than most zutara shippers being women because zuko and katara lends itself best out of any of the available ships to transformative works, particularly because of how much legwork the show did with their relationship that it didn’t even do with their canon romances, and that dovetailing nicely with the fact that most transformative works are written by women, who have always dominated in transformative fandom spaces in particular), who cares? That still doesn’t change the fact that Zuko and Katara had a series long relationship arc. It doesn’t change the fact that they went from enemies to friends and it took more work for Zuko to gain Katara’s trust than anyone else, and he was willing to put in that work because he cared what she thought of him. It doesn’t change the fact that he took a bullet lightning bolt for her in the most romantically coded, storyboarded, and written scene in the show (and yes, that’s including the scene where sokka was literally preparing to have sex with suki). It doesn’t change the fact that the story of Oma and Shu parallels Zuko and Katara, right down to the two original earthbenders being red and blue coded. and finally managing to save each other and be together
At any rate, circling back to the point you were actually making--you’re absolutely right, as I mentioned, that women make up the majority of fandom, in particular transformative fandom, for a reason. And so no, I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the relationship that best lends itself to fanon development--because canon came so close but didn’t actually follow through, leaving us with an incredible foundation which can be taken in so many different ways--is also the one that has a primarily female fanbase.
And I think writing that off as ‘lol they’re all just horny for zuko’ is incredibly misogynistic, but given the way the atla fandom has been showing its ass lately, I’m not remotely surprised.

I think your perception of canon vs fanon Tim is really interesting, and I think your right about a lot of things, but one of the things I've always loved most about Tim was his character arc, especially through his ongoing (and into RR). Like, I think your spot-on that Tim-as-Robin's strengths were his thoughtfulness and empathy and observant nature, but I think one aspect of his character was his gradual degradation into someone a lot colder and more calculating (1/2)
(2/3, oops) and I don't think that just comes from fanon characterization. Like here we have a character who is so monumentally compassionate and loving, and whose loved ones pretty much all die, so I don't think the transition in personality comes (just) from fandom, but also writers responding to this sort of trauma for the character. And Tim, in-universe, I think decides that the best way to keep the people around him safe is by sacrificing some of that kindness and becoming a little darker(3/4) in order to save his loved ones (e.g Bruce, Tam, Steph). And I do think that that change in character also pivots the catalyst for its drama. Like where before he was just a normal kid who stepped up because he felt he needed to, parents in tact, regular life, etc, later Tim is full-on traumatized vigilante. So where the drama before was found in Tim negotiating being a normal teen with being Robin, it became a negotiation between his good nature and the darkness he felt he needed to (4/4) embody. Or even the darker person he felt himself becoming. I think one of my favorite Tim moments is in RR where he's beaten Ra's for the first time doing his tortured genius hacker thing, but Ra's attacks, and Tim realizes that he can only beat him by trusting his friends and family, rather than any of the cold brilliance he's developed. And he reads that Ra's is thinking of him as just another broody Bruce, and Tim tells him "I'm not Batman, I have friends," and wins with their help.
You’re right! And I actually love that aspect of his character arc too. I think Tim’s inner conflict with the more cold/calculating part of himself is also pretty central to his character, it obviously got a lot more focus in the RR series, but even before everyone Tim knew died he struggled with his ‘inner darkness’. Like when the Titans get sent to the future and Tim finds out he grew up to be his own worst nightmare, or any of the tons of conversations he has where he clarifies that Being Like Batman is 100% what he’s trying to avoid.
I probably should’ve clarified, my issue isn’t with the “tortured” part of the tortured genius trope, (emotional conflict is great and something the entire batfam has oodles of) it’s more the “genius” bit.
tim is smart! obviously, he’s smart. but pushing that aspect of his character until he’s a child-prodigy-genius boy who can hack anything if you give him a laptop and a stick of gum gets sort of... i can’t think of the word rn, um. Like he basically stops being a believably real person? For me, anyway.
like i said my favourite tim is Regular Kid Trying His Best. that doesn’t mean he can’t go through dark shit or be a darker character, just that his goals and motivations and problem solving ideas come from creative places that I as a reader can trace the logic of.
the example you brought up is actually really good for this! tim is able to subvert ra’s (and the reader’s) expectations, because tim is an empathetic person who has a knack for reading people, and he knew ra’s (and the reader) was under the impression that tim was fully entrenched in being a solo act, not trusting anyone, being Like Batman. and then theres the banger ass line “im not batman i have friends” like WHAT??? HELL YEAH! WHAT!
and that’s the kind of shit any person could do, if they were observant and careful and just this side of thrill-seeking. it’s unexpected but it still Makes Sense.
when tim is able to solve all his problems with the push of a button or a late night and a computer, he’s just not a believable character anymore, he’s a plot device to get the mystery from point A to point B.
so yeah its more the fact that pushing his whole ‘genius’ thing ends up flattening his character for me. so when he’s valedictorian or proclaimed the ‘computer guy’ or whatever it rings a little hollow.
also i am a little bit tired of the ‘sleep deprived coffee addict’ thing, for similar reasons in that it renders him one-dimensional.

🔥 popular characterization
(( OOOOH BOY YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT BITCH WITH THIS ONE
(( OK SO listen. Heres the thing. I am... very aware, that ppl can do whatever they want, and that theres likely reasons for Popular Fanon Characterization to BE the way it is (human being are drawn to tropes and patterns its an innate thing in us we like to sort anything we get our grubby mitts on into categories), and itd be wrong to be a direct dick to people about it, especially when i myself Sometimes see the appeal in them as well!
(( for instance--Macho Über Sexy-Suave Romantic Toxic Daddy-Dom Alastor? Soft-boy Abuse Victim Helpless Meek Nerdy Helpless Vox? Guilty pleasure fanon interpretations af for me--its Fun when done right (aka when im imagining that Al boning Mine, and My Al Comforting and giving tender affections to softboy Vox lol). But outside of that? When ppl act like thats ACTUALLY how is it gonna be in the show? Mfer i will kill you myself
(( with Other characters i am MUCH less forgiving. Damsel in Distress Angel Dust? Fuck you. Damsel in Distress Charlie? Fuck you. Damsel in Distress VAGGIE? fuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufuckyou i am going for the fucking jugular
(( give these characters some FUCKING credit.
(( yes, Alastor is powerful--But hes also a stinky goddamn goofball with not an ounce of beef nor cake to his name. Yes, Vox seems to be in a toxic relationship with Valentino--But he is a grown ass fucking man, not some hapless idiot who can't tell abuse from love. Yes, Angel is feminine--but he also used to be a member of thE FUCKING MAFIA. Yes, Charlie is optimistic and sweet--but she is also THE PRINCESS OF HELL who is evidently STUBBORN AS A MULE about what she believes in. Vaggie? Im not even going to go into detail on her--if you give it nuance related to her Wanting and Choosing to be soft you get a pass but if you make her a meek little lady just for the sake of it i hope the next restaurant you go to for breakfast serves you hot cat shit instead of sausage❤
(( also like sort of a Half aside to this--i also fucking HATE it particularly in fics where a character gets pregnant that everyone sudden becomes a WILDLY out of character cookie cutter duplicate of like. Every single fucking pregnancy story cliche in existence. Not every pregnant person suddenly becomes soft and gentle and demure 24/7. Pickles and ice cream and other 'Weird' food combos arent the ONLY kind of cravings to exist. Not everyone is kind or gentle with or devoted to protecting pregnant people. Reflect that in your stories for the love of god PLEASE

Hearing that the R***o fandom is running massive block chains explains so much. I’m not saying they’re a small part of the fandom (there’s clearly a considerable amount of them) but I feel like they’ve created such large echo chambers on Twitter and other social media to the point where they’ve articifically inflated their sense of importance in the fandom. Of course it’s going to seem like everyone online is obsessed with their ship when they’ve blocked anyone else otherwise.
The idea that Disney/LF is going to bend over backwards to please them is absurd. Disney is a massive corporation that has proven in the past to do whatever it can to make the most money, even if that involves making bland content that appeals to wide audiences in only the most general way (like all their live action remakes). If the R***o fandom was really the cash cow they believe themselves to be then Disney would milk that. The fact they haven’t and are actively trying to avoid anything to do with R***o moving forward says that every other aspect of the fandom is more profitable.
Although they got some “win” from TROS there was the alternative ending where there was no kiss and the novelisation described it as a friendly one, plus it’s never been mentioned again. Valentines Day was a great example of how all of these different couples were given the spotlight and R***o was not one of them. I know that corner of the fandom tends to be more rabid than others, especially on social media, but if Disney really wanted to cater to them they would’ve posted something.
I’m also surprised that so many of them are obsessed with the RJ trilogy as it has been mentioned in the past to be completely unrelated to the main saga (and their precious Ben) assuming it happens at all. I feel like they’re just hoping there’s another white girl they can project onto with a white villain they can ship again. I doubt it will be made though. The fact it was announced before TLJ had even come out and ever since the backlash it’s barely been mentioned is odd. There have been waves of new content been announced and no word of it. And looking at the future release schedule there’s no room for it. It seems odd that they haven’t confirmed anything. Is it because they’re afraid of fandom backlash because that’s gonna happen either way if they do it now or in 5 years. I don’t foresee TLJ growing on people the same way the PT has done. Although I’m sure R***o’s will still be around (unless the have another abusive white/het ship to project onto).
like im all for blocking whoever you want to make your online experience enjoyable but theres something about reylos running blockchains that really rubs me the wrong way! the reason i block reylos is because they have a history of harassing me and the more of them i block, the less likely that becomes. but reylos have creating this insular community for themselves where they have little to no contact with sw fans beyond each other and thats how they can become so convinced their fanon is canon. and thats probably also why they feel so slighted by the sw twitter - no one cares about reylo except for them.
they see rian as some sort of hero to them (which is still weird as hell to me because he essentially ended tlj with rey and kylo splitting up permanently but whatever) but yeah thats probably why they’re into it. and that tells me so much about them. they dont actually care about reylo, they care about the specific dynamic and thats why these people jump from fandom to fandom.
im kinda of the mind that his trilogy won’t happen. or like i said, if it does they’re going to wait and see if the backlash toward him will die down. i agree that tlj isn’t going to grow on people. its going to cause controversy for a long, long time and might become like aou where people begin realizing how stupid it is, especially compared to other better movies in the same franchise.
