Could you picture Roman being a dog owner? I kept thinking back to his Arkham Origins quote of 'feeding the player's spleen to his dogs!' ... probably vicious fellas. I bet his S/O dotes on them, and even takes a liking to them. Just softer Roman hours. How will he take it too if his S/O has a pet?
I could totally picture him being a dog owner, what I can’t settle on however, is which type of dog. I could totally see him with some kind of Pitbull, Doberman, or a Corso. You know, those breeds that get bad reps for being scary?
Tumblr media
Or, if he actually has an evil little lapdog? You know the kind.
Maybe one that’s already known for being a bit unhinged like a chihuahua?
Or maybe something a little more unsuspecting? Like Toy Terriers, or a mini spaniels.
Tumblr media
Either way these dogs get mixed treatment. Like, there’s not a lot of fields for them to run around on in the city, and I know damn well Roman isn’t taking them for multiple walks a day – although he probably does have someone for that. (Until his S/O convinces him anyway – Come on Romy, fresh air, stretch your legs, good for your heart.)
They also probably sleep in cages that are hopefully the right size.
However, they’re eating well. Canned dog food or kibble, yes, but also human grade meats and milk bones, proteins, veg, the works. And during the day, they get free range. They’re on the couches, the bed, cause they’re not trained to listen to anyone but Roman.
I bet he has a love-hate relationship with his S/O doting on them, cause on the one hand ‘They’re supposed to be attack dogs!’ and you’re turning them into pampered pooches. But on the other hand, he loves the way you grin when they roll on their backs for belly scratches, or when they follow your commands for treats.
You’re both pretty cute when you’re begging for his attention with those matching puppy dog eyes.
He’s probably pretty neutral about his S/O having a pet, it really depends on what it is and how it behaves. If its needy, I can maybe see a tinge if jealousy, cause Roman wants and deserves your attention most.
But otherwise there’s no strong emotions. He’s fairly good with them, especially if you’re around. Talks to them, pets them, whatever. Gotta save face in front of the S/O. Probably says mean things to them, but in a playful way.
For example, my mum has a cockapoo who looks like a seasame street character, and there isn’t a thought in her head that isn’t ‘pet me’ ‘play with me’ or ‘sleep’ and I know Roman would think she was a pathetic waste of a dog. But he’d pet her anyway.
Disclaimer: No dog is actually scary, evil, or unhinged by nature, its all dependant on training, environmental influence, etc. This is all just in good fun.

Jaz I came up with a new game! I also sent this to Allie @molosseraptor to see what she thought. Honestly I’d love to hear what any of the dogblrs who are/were professional trainers think!
Train, Own, Rehome (~Fuck, Marry, Kill)
….Interesting….breed mixes I have seen advertised on Craigslist
Option 1: Border Collie X Akita
Option 2: Husky X French Bulldog
Option 3: Chihuahua X Blue Heeler
Thanks for your time if you want to answer!
These are all Literally The Worst how could you do this to me.
If I had to own any of them I'd probably take the chihuahua/heeler. Not for any other reason than because that sounds like a chaos demon and a reinvention of the Asshole Terrier From Hell and fuck it why not.
For train I'd probably go with the bc/akita, only because I want to dissect its brain and possibly keep it in a jar. Like. What are you.
Rehome, the husky/frenchie. I've spent too long in dog training to fuck with badly bred huskys anymore, and I've worked too long at a vet clinic to want to deal with badly bred frenchies, and the combination of such??? NIGHTMARE no thank you.

was re-reading sonora and thinking ab cute golden retriever vermax so much that it got me thinking. I have three ideas for dogs Vermax could be based on his description in the books as a dragon. Hes basically a moody princess who is wildly loyal. Made me think of a chihuahua at first but I dont think Jace would have a chihuahua. So... an Australian shepherd/border collie mix (my parents have one that I grew up w and she is a walking ball of stress and chaos, she rips up pants when shes annoyed at us, im not kidding!) Very active, very loyal, and very hard to maintain. They're mainly cow dogs y'know? Bred for running and speed and they're smart as shit! Then I was thinking about it and how they're not the most agressive of dog breeds. So I was thinking again and thought of a yorkshire terrier. Vermax was pretty small in the grand scheme of things and theses little mfr's have whats called 'small dog syndrome' and they bite people. They're needy little shits. Adorable! but needy. And finally I thought of a chow chow because why on earth would jace have a poofy dog. But its stubborn, loyal, and can be agressive if not socialized well. The thought of a modern!jace walking around with a reddish-brown poofy chow chow that is recently groomed with an olive green collar saying 'Vermax' made me giggle a bit. I need this in my life. thank you for coming to my ted talk im tired and thinking way too much about dogs lmao
I JUST STARTED SCREAMING READING THIS.. AN AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD OH I SEE THE VISION. (lowkey.. now ima start writing vermax as a mix)
idk i do very much see vermax as a golden retriever OOORRR like you said a shepherd, super fluffy with big eyes .. would beg for your attention all the time and actually start growling if you ignored him.. IM KICKINGGGGGG

@thepennyroyals
i tend to be partial to mixed breeds and adopting dogs of nebulous origins (Emi is a ‘terrier’ who was either two or three when i adopted her, depending on what paperwork you’re looking at). please adopt whatever you find at your nearest shelter. whatever looks the saddest and most forlorn, that’s why i picked Emi.
that said! in the spirit of the question!
5) siberian husky
Tumblr media
sled dogs! doing hard travel work in the snow! most of them are descended from hero dog togo! their eyes come in either a warm brown or soul-pierce pale blue or both! they are crazy pups who will punish any owner who isn’t prepared to care for a dog bred to be harnessed with its kin to run miles and miles across the ice and snow! they’re what you’re actually visuallizing when you think ‘wolf’.
4) shiba inu
Tumblr media
are they the current fashionable breed? certainly. do they still look charismatic? absolutely. i’ve never pet one, but i assume it’s like rubbing the hair on the back of your neck just after you got a haircut. they seem like goofballs, and who doesn’t need a goofball in their life?
3) border collie
Tumblr media
i have romantic notions about shepherding. out in the hills of scotland, clad in a woolen jumper and a cap, whistling to send this lovely breed to and fro to keep the ambulatory clouds in check. border collies are also at the top of ‘intelligent breed’ lists, and i appreciate intelligence. plus they have the ideal dog shape. if they were smaller, they’d top the list, easy.
2) tie: australian shepherd and australian cattle dog
Tumblr media Tumblr media
christine, my childhood dog (wearing the hat in my avatar), was either half-shepherd or half cattle dog (the rest of her was chihuahua and pomeranian, which, tragically, are often poorly socialized). working dogs are great and important, regardless, and the cattle dog is certainly having their moment with recent children’s animation,
1) jack russell terrier
Tumblr media
i loved wishbone growing up, i love dogs that are just shorter than the sitting part of the couch so they can’t immediately get in your face if you’re prone, and look at the ear flop! ear flops are important. and they are the perfect size to pick up and hug. Emi might be a full or part jack russell, i’m not sure. but my love of wishbone is a flame that will always burn, so jack russell terriers are the best breed.

bah im dogsitting but im having a real cant get out of bed day.. it was alright this morning but idk im not feeling the best healthwise and bowies been barking a lot at any noise that happens outside and im just so used to tigo, hes not the most quiet but hes definitely less sassy about it lmao.
i agreed to dogsit because i live like a 7 minute walk from this place, but i forgot to account for it being 7 minutes in pretty low temperatures. its not that bad im not complaining about walking but i do think im getting kinda sick even tho ive been bundling up every time i walk him or head back home to grab smth. its also gonna be raining this week which aughh im in pain and idk if bowie has a raincoat and i certainly forgot to get an umbrella (which i left at my cousins lmao)
its been nice not having to be home all the time tho. i rlly wanted to be able to introduce bowie and tigo but i dont think that can happen unless the owner is here and especially since my parents arent willing to help. its crazy how i go home to shower and grab things and immediately i feel overwhelmed by my mom and the loud music and cooking and whatever so its nice here in that im in a relatively quiet home lol.
ive essentially got free rein of the place tho i decided ill be showering at home cuz i can get weird abt using other people's showers. i have no idea what im gonna be doing for new years since the owner doesnt come back til the 2nd, i havent even scheduled any appointments yet tho i really need to.
other than the barking, bowie is a really easy and sweet dog, very good on walks and loves pets and treats, i think im just not used to the chihuahua-terrier-others mix of personality lol im just so used to big boy golden-lab personality that is overwhelmingly loving and excited but also good for a sleepy chill snuggle.
anyway i gotta walk bowie again maybe closer to 4 and then i think im gonna head home just to like check in, put some clothes and stuff away, grab some fresh ones, maybe shower idk i both really wanna go home but also am fully dreading the idea of being home for more than ten minutes.

Slashers - As Dogs pt 1
INCLUDES MICHAEL, JASON, FREDDY, BUBBA, HANNIBAL
This is for my fellow dog lovers. I have always had dogs and I am a huge dog enthusiast, love researching breeds and history, so hopefully I do everyone right by the dog breeds I matched them with... Enjoy :)
MICHAEL MYERS - Turkish Kangal
Tumblr media
(disclaimer this breed has a lot of bad breeding practices, and training rituals that some people do with them that I do not support!)
This dog is an absolute massive livestock guardian dog. Also known as an Anatolian Shepherd.
They were bred to protect livestock from bears, wolves, and jackals without fear. Even some of them have been bred in Africa to fend off lions. Some Turkish people call them "the wolf killers"
It is regarded to have the strongest bite force of any other canine.
Their nature is calm, strong, independent, controlled, silent and alert to the surroundings constantly.
These dogs need hardly any training to be a guard dog, they will watch the older ones and pick up on the subtleties. Watching and observing at all times.
When there is a threat they stand tall and give one loud warning bark to the humans and flock to move to safety. Their first instinct is to put themselves in front of the danger protecting anything it guards with their life.
Also they could care less if they have affection from someone. It is a type of dog that you just leave it to do it’s work and it is happy.
Defiantly not a city dog unless it has a lot of freedom, and defiantly not for the faint of heart
JASON VOORHEES - Irish wolfhound
Tumblr media
Irish Wolfhounds are my personal favorite dog breed. They are incredible massive dogs that were bred for hunting wolves. They would chase the wolves down and hold them in place waiting for the master, but it was known that some would kill the wolf even before the master could do it.
These dogs are an ancient breed appearing as early as AD 600, they were a dog of royalty and knights. Writing in 1790, they were described as the largest and most beautiful of the dog kind
The wolfhounds had almost become extinct, because they over hunted and ran the wolves out of Ireland. Only a few remained and were held with particular families trying to not let them completely die out. In the early 1800′s they were brought back from the brink of extinction, mixing in original breeds that created it, bringing their numbers back up (like Jason brought back to life)
They could still hunt wolves and other prey but they have such a soft and gentle side to them.
Nicknamed “the gentle giants” Their nature is truly kind and gentle, silent, calm, protective and ever watchful. The Irish wolfhound motto is “gentle when stroked, fierce when provoked”
Their appearance is shaggy and not exactly the “cutest”, they stand as the tallest dog breed (yup bigger than a great dane) with a broad chest and a strong body. They appear as if it is “fast enough to catch a wolf, and strong enough to kill it”
Also these dogs love outside and just look majestic af in the forest
FREDDY  KRUEGER - Chihuahua terrier mix
Tumblr media
We all know Freddy is an ass that likes to mess people for fun, so I think he would be a chihuahua but mixed with some sort of terrier. I honestly like chihuahuas but I am not a big fan of terriers so I gave him this lol
Terriers and chihuahuas both love to bark and Freddy always mouths' off so its fitting
Friendly until they are not, hyper, has a big personality, needs a lot of attention, they have a lot of weird quirks
They also love to obsess over their people and they are very particular about the people they pick
A lot of people always say the boys of these breeds are particularly horny and hump everything lol
Terriers were bred to hunt small animals and go into dens. To me this relates to Freddy because he hunts people, particularly younger people, being smaller. And the den thing makes me think of Freddy’s favorite horror dream space, the boiler room
Since Freddy is not that large but he acts like he is 7ft and indestructible, that is what these dogs are known for if not trained correctly
BUBBA SAWYER - Pitbull
Tumblr media
Misunderstood and bred to fight, getting a horrible wrap, but its all about how you raise them.
The pitbull is actually a broad term used for some type of bulldog mix. Essentially they are mutts and I feel that the whole cannibal family is bred from mutts, not really belonging to anything but themselves
Also the size and shape fits very well for Bubba
Naturally caring, sensitive, protective, usually friendly, and love a family environment
Gentle babies you could just hold forever
HANNIBAL LECTOR - Border Collie
Tumblr media
These dogs have been labeled to be the smartest dogs on the planet. Used for hearding livestock they have to out think whatever they are hearding, and they do that well
If you don’t have a job for these dogs they will destroy your house, get into things, escape yards and they will try to outsmart you
They are dogs that do not need to be big or scary to intimidate, they physiologically intimidate
Their nature is extremely smart, loyal, caution, mysterious, energetic and protective
I feel like if they could dress themselves they would be very distinguished, just like Hannibal

what kind of dogs do you think each of the clones would get???
Rex- He wouldn’t be too picky on breed. He would go right to the shelter, and look for hours, somehow coming back to the same old silent mixed breed, with the smartest eyes. it looks tough, but as soon as the shelter worker opens up the gate, that baby melts into Rex’s hand. Its love at first sight for these two Echo- Austrailian Shepherd. It reminds him of Fives. Smart, but playful. Protective, but good natured.  Fives- French bulldog. Look, I know Fives would go for these funny looking little guys. He would love having such an even dispositioned dogs. And would think the ears are hilarious Jesse- He is a lab guy. Catch him in the park with his golden playing fetch and pulling it out of mud puddles when they decide to take a dip. Kix- Brussels Griffon. easy to train, low maintainance, and something he can bring in to the medbay to visit patients! Tup- Jack russell terrier. He is the guy with the jack russell that he takes EVERYWHERE. Oh man I didn’t realize it til now. Dogma- German Shepherd. Loyal, easy to train, hard working dog. Hardcase-Husky. He would want something soft that he could curl up with at the end of a long stressful day. But still hyper enough to go play when needed. Huskies are... crazy. The perfect fun loving dog for this guy Coric- beagle. great companion dogs, funloving but overall calm and easy to train. Bly- Golden Retriever for the golden boy 99- HE DESERVES A HERD OF CORGIS Cody- Pug. I think Cody would get a kick out of the sounds these things make.  Waxer and Boil-Cavalier King Charles Spaniel small companion dog that gets along with almost everyone, including kids. Wolffe- I refuse to give him a dog like a Husky or similar to a wolf because they are highly active and after a long day, Wolffe just wants to relax and snuggle up on the couch. He gets a nice lazy little wrinkly faced bulldog named Baxter Sinker and Boost-Irish Setter. It would be a good way for these two to practice some skills when training such an athletic and beautiful dog.  Hunter- Basset hound. Big ears and such sad looking eyes would have Hunter hooked Wrecker- He gets a chihuahua. it sometimes sleeps in his helmet Tech- Rottweiler. Something that looks intimidating, but Tech did his research and this baby is a big softie from its training. Crosshair- greyhound. lanky and good natured. It would put a soft spot in this guys heart.
****Disclaimer: This is a generalization on Dog breeds. friendly reminder that all dogs, like clones, have individual personalities and even though dog breeds are predisposed to certain characteristics, each dog itself has its own personality and different training***

A Complete Guide on Feeding Puppies - When, How & What
Welcoming a new puppy home is the biggest joy one could ever experience. In those initial months, your pup requires a balanced diet to fuel their speedy growth and to ensure they live a long, healthy and memorable life. As per AAFCO recommendations, your pup’s diet must have at least 22% protein, 8% fat, adequate carbohydrates, essential fatty acids with mineral and vitamin fortification. Puppy food is absolutely essential for the first year of your pup’s development as it sets the basis for their overall health and nutrition for the rest of their life. Not to mention, the growth deformities and deficiency disorders, if you fail to provide the right nutrition. Hence, getting the nutritional balance exactly right with just homemade food becomes an overwhelming process for any new doggo owner. But the good news is, we have done the research for you and with our selection of puppy dry food online, wet food, treats & more, you will find one that meets the needs of your growing pupper and your budget.
As a new or potential pet parent, you probably have these questions in mind; How often to feed my puppy? How much quantity? And most importantly WHAT to feed my perpetually hungry pup? We’ll break down each of these questions for you, so read on.
How often should I feed my puppy?
Your pup’s feeding schedule will undergo quite a few updates in the first year. Owing to their fast development and tiny gut size, your pup will start off with 5 meals spaced out in a day before the age of 2 months. Your pup will soon graduate to 4 meals a day till 3 months of age transitioning to 3 meals a day after the age of 3 months. From six months onwards upto almost a year, you can move your puppy’s feeding times down to two a day. Feeding your pet at the same time every day helps them set into a routine. Your pup may start showing signs of feeling hungry during those times and not hungry during hours you fed them earlier.
AGE                                       FEEDING FREQUENCY
Up to 2 months                           5 times a day
2-3 months                                 4 times a day
3-6 months                                 3 times a day
6 months onwards                      3 times a day
How much to feed my puppy?
Its best to feed them smaller, more frequent meals. Puppy food is formulated to provide a certain amount of nutrients per amount of food. Due to the rapid phases of growth puppies experience, they require food which has higher energy-density than an adult dog along with a larger volume of food than their adult counterparts. As they grow up, their feeding quantity gradually decreases with age. Surprising, right? Think of it as feeding for the future, rather than the size they are today.
How much food a puppy should eat is a question with a lot of variables, the biggest being the breed.” Different breeds have different daily caloric requirements due to differences in metabolism and level of activity. Furthermore, the puppy’s weight plays a major role in portion control. As a thumb rule, a puppy should be fed at the rate of 15 grams of feed per kg body weight of the pup in each meal.
Say your 3-month old doggo weighs 3 kgs.
So, one meal will comprise 15 X 3= 45 grams of food.
As the frequency of feeding for this age category is 3 times a day, the total allowance for the day will amount to 45 X 3= 135 grams. You can dodge this math simply by following the feeding table on the back of the bag of dog food.
Word of caution here, DO NOT let those puppy dog eyes trip you into giving them more food than what is advised.
What should I feed my puppy?
Puppies are likely to eat whatever is found under their nose! As the parent, you need to decide the right pet foods. With countless years of research and dollars spent on perfecting the best formulation for your furry companion, they are the best bet for your pup. Your pup’s unique nutritional requirement will depend on its size, breed and age. Puppies of small sized breeds can reach their full adult size at about nine to ten months of age. While the large breed puppy can take anywhere from fifteen to twenty-four months. There’s no “one-size-fits-all diet” that could possibly cover all the needs of all the puppies in the world. Additionally, puppy food comes in a variety of types such as dry kibble, wet food, raw, freshly made and treats.
With so many tasty and healthy food options for pups, it’s definitely a good idea for pet parents to invest time in understanding the important ones.
 Dry food
Dry food is a popular option for many pet parents owing to the convenience and ease along with acceptability in vegetarian households too. By the time puppies are six weeks old, they will start weaning off their mothers onto a mixture of puppy cereal and a specially formulated puppy food. The type of dry food you choose for your puppy will further depend upon the age and breed of your puppy. So, to provide a more specific nutrition, the dog food is categorised according to breed size into Mini, Medium, Maxi and Giant breed food.
FOOD CATEGORY: BREEDS INCLUDED
Mini/ Small (Adult weight below 10 kgs) : Shih-Tzu, Pomeranian, Toy Poodle, Miniature Pinscher, Yorkshire  Terrier, Chihuahua
Medium (Adult weight : 10-24 kgs): Cocker Spaniel, Beagle, Poodle, Basset Hound, Dalmatian,  Bulldog, Standard Schnauzer, Chow Chow
Maxi (Adult weight : 25-50 kgs): Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Boxer,  Akita, Siberian Husky
Giant (Adult weight over 50 kgs): Saint Bernard, Bullmastiff, Great Dane, Rottweiler
So after figuring out the category in which your pup belongs according to their breed, find the food appropriate for his age within that category.
Each breed category has a starter, puppy and adult food which changes with your puppy's age. Starter food is an energy dense feed which supports the rapid growth of pups without disturbing their digestive system which is at an immature stage. Kibbles easily rehydrate to a consistency that is porridge-like which is very palatable for weaning puppies. Puppy food further facilitates proper growth and helps avoid excess weight gain thanks to an adapted energy content. Skeletal development is the hallmark of this growth period; hence an appropriate puppy food provides the right nutritional balance of calcium and phosphorus in their diet. Adult food is a tailored diet to maintain a healthy body conformation throughout the dog’s life.
Starter food: (Age group- Up to 2 months)
Till 2 months of age, gradually transition your pup from mother’s milk or the feed the breeder was giving to a category of dry food known as starter food. It has a combination of nutritional elements present in mother’s milk that actively promote digestive health and help maintain the puppy’s natural defences. This food facilitates an easy transition from mother's milk to solid food. If your puppy is struggling to eat dry food, you can try mixing it with a little warm water to make it softer, until their teeth get stronger.
Puppy Dry food: (Age group: 2-10 months (small breed) , 2-15 months (large breed))
Most commercial puppy dry foods have a range for puppy stage which applies for small breed pups till the age of 10 months and large breed pups till the age of 15 months. This food has excellent sources of protein namely chicken, lamb, fish and turkey which is extremely essential for proper growth. It is rich in calories from protein and fat sources. Crunchy dry kibble has an add-on advantage of keeping your dog's teeth healthy by reducing plaque and tartar build-up. Which is why kibble eaters generally have way better breath!
Adult food: (Age group: After 10 months (small breeds), after 16 months (large breed))
While puppy dry food has many of the same ingredients as adult dry dog food, puppy meals tend to have higher concentrations of essential nutrients. This is because puppies have different requirements as compared to older dogs; just as human babies have different diets from adult humans. So, they’ll need fewer of the resources in their food to contribute to growth, but need more to support maintenance. They are enriched with probiotics, vitamins, essential fatty acids to support digestive and joint health, maintain skin barrier and manage an ideal weight.
The best time to change from puppy dry food to adult dry food depends on their breed, but most dogs are ready to change foods between 12-24 months of age.
Make the change gradually: Irrespective of your dog’s age, any form of food transition with dogs must be done gradually. Start by mixing a little of the next stage food (10-15%) with the previous stage food. If your puppy shows no unusual signs and tolerates it, (translation: no intestinal disturbances), you can double the amount of new food the next day. It should usually take about a week to make the full transition.
(P.S.- make sure there is plenty of fresh water available for your pup)
Pet parents usually have their hands full with their pup’s feeding schedule, potty training and teething that they often miss out on their most basic necessity; WATER. Every single bodily function from digestion to brain development, requires water. All efforts put into providing the best possible nutrition will turn to dust, if your pup is in a dehydrated state. Therefore, it’s very important to keep your pooch well hydrated at all times so they function at the peak of their capacity and avoid any health issues that could creep up due to dehydration. As a thumb rule, puppies must have direct access to at least one-half cup of water every two hours or so. Each time you reach for your own water bottle, think of your pet’s water needs, too.
 Wet Food
Whilst dry food mainly brings advantages for the owner in terms of price, cleanliness and convenience, the advantages of wet food benefit the dog itself. Most doggos would probably opt for wet food if they could choose themselves, since wet food, more intense in smell and taste, simply tastes better to them. It is ideal for fussy eaters or pets with illnesses. With grain free and chicken free options, wet food is one of the best options for dogs with food allergies.  Wet puppy food also offers your dog more hydration. Wet food becomes an important source of hydration in dogs that are hyperactive and don’t drink a lot of water themselves.
Both dry and wet food have their fans, so most pet parents provide the best of both worlds by feeding a mix of the two or simply using wet food as a topper for dry food. But remember, it is the content that matters, not the variety. So, focus on a food that best supports their growth and development and helps them thrive.
 Treats
These titbits not only serve as a pat on the back for when your puppy does something good, but can also be used for mental stimulation, dental care, teething and supplementation.
It should be noted that even the healthiest dog treats can never replace a balanced diet in a dog’s life. Treats should be seen as enjoyable supplements to a dog’s daily diet.
Foods your dog should never eat
It sure is difficult to resist those big brown eyes and that adorable face. But remember before giving them a little reward off your table, that certain human foods are downright dangerous for your bundle of fluff. Due to differences in body composition, digestive enzymes and physiology of the body, some foods can upset your pup’s digestive system and send them straight to the emergency vet.
Avocados, grapes, raisins, onion, garlic, almonds, chocolate, coffee and tea are certain foods that are perfectly suitable for human consumption but are TOXIC for your dog, posing a serious threat to their health and well-being. Dairy products can cause dysbiosis in certain dogs further leading to diarrhoea as well as food allergies. The bones in meat, chicken and fish can be hazardous too. They can splinter and stick in the throat, break teeth or cut the intestines. Candy, gum, toothpaste, baked goods, and some diet foods which are sweetened with xylitol are also extremely dangerous. Also, accidental consumption of alcohol, tobacco or marijuana can be lethal. So, keep these foods out of your dog’s reach and contact your vet ASAP if they do consume any of these!
A human takes 18 years to fully grow and reach adulthood. Whereas your pooch has to cover this 18 year worth growth in mere 12-24 months. This only emphasises the need for proper nutrition in puppyhood. Proper research and a consultation with a vet will help you map out the best combination of dry, wet, homemade food and treats to ensure good health for your pupper who is just starting out in life.

I'm sitting here, working on the base colors for each individual frame— that takes concentration as I need to make sure each mouth is colored with the same exact color and there's no leakage outside the lineart. But little miss Dolly Parton the chihuahua-terrier mix keeps whining and growling at me for attention. I do not give it to her because I'm busy and I would like to get the first stage of coloring done so I can move on to the second stage of coloring.
So 5 minutes go by and its silent. No more whining. No more growling. Just silence. I look over to check on the dogs because silence is dangerous and it worries me.
Tumblr media
I think she's mad at me. I'm getting the fucking silent treatment from a dog. I call her name, I make a farting sound with my mouth because for some fucking reason that gets her extremely excited. But nothing. I swear to god this sassy petty dog I can't--

The best dog names, and how to name your puppy
Naming your family pet is one of  the most beautiful moment when owning a pet. Petbacker has been committed to help pet owners to decide how they should name their pets, and it took Petbacker more than 2 years to conduct a comprehensive surveys and gathered information from 400,000 pet owners in regard to the questions of “why you give this precious name to your dog” , “does the dog name match your character of your pet”, as well as “do you name your dog based on their breed”.
Based on our surveys, we want to share with all pet’s owner some inspiring and fun ideas that are relevant to giving names for your fur babies!
For instance, we found that many owners named their pets after childhood movie characters, famous celebrities, their human friend, different seasons of the year etc. It is amazingly shocking to note that there are even pet owners who named their pets based on numerological method.
Method that owners use to name their pets.
Tumblr media
Less than 4.5% of owners named their Pets based on Seasons of the year
Each season represents its special meaning. Some owners love to name their dogs based on the seasons and months which they were born such as spring, summer, autumn and winter. For example, babies who were born during spring season can be named Haru, in Japanese, ha ru は る) means spring. Some babies who are brought home by their owners in summer are directly named as summer. For babies born in the cold winter, they can be named as winter.
From the above ideas, the following are some of the names which you may take into consideration:
Spring - Asher, Abril, Lily or Spring rolls
Summer - Sunny, Lia, Lilac or Summer ball
Autumn - Pablo, Raven, Mooncake or Cinnamon
Winter - Polar, Santa, Sparkle or Gabby
More than 55.2% of owners named their Pets based on Human Names
Human names make great and meaningful names for dogs and puppies too. If your dog loves running, you may consider one of the suggested human names below to give him or her some cool attitudes.
Female dogs can be named as Anne, Anna, Angel, Alice, Lucy, Emily, Juliet, Amy, etc. Alternatively, the owner can use the characters from TV series as reference. Male dogs can be named as Jack, Nick, Mike, Peter, David, Henry, Irwin etc.
Less than 4.1% of owners named their Pets based on Foodie Name
Food naming method is also a very popular naming method. The pet owner can base on food names according to their pets’ fur colours or their own favourite food.
White fur – Tofu, Cauliflower, Onion, Garlic
Yellow-ish fur – Milk Tea, Coffee, Potato, Banana
Black fur - Cola, Sesame, Pepper, Seaweed
You can also call these little guys directly with your favourite snacks, such as pudding, buns, milkshake, noodle, cheese, cupcake, dumplings and other food.
To our surprise, about 30.3% of owners named their Pets based on Numerology method
Pet owners can actually name their pets using numerology naming method, owners will count the number belonging to their pets by deriving it from the dates of birth of their pets, and put a name that matches the pet birthday so the pet will have the character they want to have.
This can be done by finding the pet Life Path number, these Number can be obtained by adding the birthday numbers together until you get a single digit, for an example, a pet was born in November 14th, 2018, it would be = 1+1+1+4+2+0+1+8 = 18 = 1+8 = 9 …, So their Life Path is a “9”.
With the life path number, they will then decide what name to give so the number changes slightly to what they wanted. How to count a name with number so they add together to become single number.
For an example EDDY, E= 5,D=4,D=4,Y= 25 =2+5=7
Birthday date + Name = 9+7=16
The final digit would be, 1+6=7
Here you go ! Your best friend Life Path Number is a “7” .
Here are some of the attributes of the different Numbers :
Number 1, is a number that represents Self, and it brings a very independent character. If your pet has a name that reduces to “1”, you expect them to be more independent, this pet will probably be headstrong! Your best friend is going to do what it wants to, so be patient. They can make excellent guard dogs or protective animals.
Number 2, this is a Number of Cooperation and Relationships. This is the pet that will be happiest sitting in your lap! They will also like company, other pets, and humans. They don’t do well alone for extended periods. They can be naturally shy, and will dislike fireworks and thunderstorms.
Number 3, this is a Number of Creativity and Communication. With humans, they are likely to be on stage and often have a good sense of humour. They are quite social, and hyperactive, they love to be out & about, meeting new humans and other pets.
They are sometimes difficult to be trained due to a short attention span. They can be talkative too, so expect a lot of barking! They are typically good with children as they enjoy the busy energy that children brings.
Number 4, is a Number of Structure. Pets or animals with this Energy do best in structured environments. They like routines, such as feeding and training or exercise at the same times each day.
Number 5, This is a Number of High-Energy, Chaos and Adventure. These animals love adventure! They don’t like to be cooped up too. They love riding in cars, going for walks at the park. They might not be the best choice for small children, but they will be entertaining!
Number 6, This is the Number of The Nurturer. Ideally suited to home and family, this is a very devoted and loving animal. They love affection and are quick to give it too. They love to sleep in bed with you and will love cozy warm places to snuggle in. These dogs also make for the best service animals and can be trained to help a human who has disabilities.
Number 7, This is a Number of Intelligence and Curiosity. Your best friend would probably like games or toys that challenge them …plus learning Tricks too! But they often need their own space and time. They probably have their own favourite place, and it will probably be away from everyone else. They need space, so I hope your bed is big, or they will try to dominate the space!
Number 8, This is a Number of Abundance and Prosperity. They love studded collars, luxurious bed, even those animal-outfits! They love attention, and can be demanding. They are usually high-energy, be prepared to be lead around!
Number 9, This is a Number of The Philanthropist, Old Soul, Wisdom. They are Natural Leaders, but do not have a competitive streak, so not the best choice for a show animal. They are extremely sensitive. They know when you are hurting and when you are happy. They like a lot of physical contacts to assure that everything is alright.
Less than 3% of owners named their Pets based on Movie Character
Many young owners have their favourite cartoon characters, comic protagonists and so on. Hence, they can name their dogs by their favourite characters. For example, One Piece's Luffy, Qiaoba, Naruto, Kakashi, Doraemon etc.
About 2.9% of owners named their Pets based on Celebrity name
Pet owners do have their own favourite celebrities who they like and admire. Therefore, it’s pretty cool to name their pet according to the celebrity name, or the name of their fan club.
Imagine when he is running around on the street, and you call his name, people who passes by will think that there is a big star coming!
How to make your pets remember their name fast?
Giving a name to your pet is easy, but how do you want your pet to remember the name you gave or effect the change of name ASAP? We provide below some methods which you may adopt to make your pets remember their name.
1. Food temptation: After giving your dog a name, you need to patiently let him remember his name. One of the best ways is giving them food and treats!
2. Changing of tone: Under different circumstances, use different intonations to call the dog's name.
3. Name Tone: Calling names is limited to giving instructions and compliments, to give the dog a good impression. The next time you call its name, it will run to you right away.
After all the above suggestions, if you are still not sure of what name you give your dog, we would want to inspire you of what others named their dogs by sharing the names of the list below.

This person answered pretty well, but yeah it's not that people are necessarily saying it's unethical to have a mixed breed/mutt dog, but more that the specific breeds chosen and the way in which they are bred and advertised are usually unethical.
Ethical breeders will strive to produce pups that have a temperament expected of the breed and reduce health risks if possible (not in all cases but some do) You should theoretically be able to pick a dog that will match your lifestyle based on the expected traits of that breed.
Cross-breeding two purebred dogs and then advertising as a new breed simply does not work. It can take decades to produce a stable new breed of dog. It is disingenuous to say that you can expect a labradoodle to have a certain temperament or health profile, because you're not going to get the same result every time.
And then, of course, yeah, it does often come down to uppity breeder politics. There is currently a breeder trying to produce a more ethical dalmatian by mixing in other breeds and last I heard they have been mostly successful (Dalmatians are a super unhealthy breed for those who don't know) but a lot of the breeder community does not recognize this new variant as a real breed out of pure snobbery, despite that Dalmatians are a walking nightmare of health problems and probably should not exist.
I don't think that having a mixed breed dog is unethical, especially if you adopted your dog or found it as a stray, and I dont even necessarily think its wrong to accidentally (you should get your dogs fixed...) allow two dogs of different/unknown breeds to produce pups so long as you're not doing it for profit, but I do personally think that the trend of mixing two purebred dogs and then advertising it as a new breed is purely coming from a place of greed. Especially because it's mostly backyard breeders doing this. The unethical part (to me) is not that they are mixing the dogs but that they are just straight up lying about them and to make money on top of that.
I also find it kind of annoying tbh when I'm scrolling FB or Craigslist or something and I see someone trying to sell puppies that are like "Chihuahua/Pit Mother Lab/Terrier Father $200" like.. girl.. that is just a mutt. Especially when it's completely unidentifiable as being any of the supposed breeds listed, like it's okay to just call it a dog, I know mutt is kind of a negative word, I just use it as shorthand for "idk wtf this is" but most of the dogs I've owned have been mutts, I love them, they are usually *less* prone to health issues in my experience (tho that's purely anecdotal) but you can't be selling puppies for hundreds of dollars and claiming it has purebred traits when it's a mix of like 8+ different dogs 😂 Also GET YOUR FUCKING DOGS FIXED
Do you think it is possible for cross-breed dogs to be produced ethically? I have heard that mixes are unethical as the temperament and structure of the offspring are unpredictable.
I don't think it's impossible to create crossbreed dogs ethically or responsibly. I think that it is very difficult to do with today's purebred politics, and I think that the significant majority of people producing mixed breeds are not doing so responsibly (similarly, I think the same of purebreds 🤷‍♂️)
There's a bunch of mixed breed projects that I'm somewhat interested in. Unfortunately, the sports I'm most interested in don't play nicely with dogs that aren't purebred, so I continue to have purebred dogs.

He’s Saving California’s Oldest Weekly (Mark Twain Wrote for It)
DOWNIEVILLE, Calif. — The night before his first deadline, Carl Butz, California’s newest newspaper owner, was digging into a bowl of beef stew at the Two Rivers Café, the only restaurant open in town.
“Tomorrow I have to fill the paper,” he said with only mild anxiety. “The question is, will it be a four-page paper or a six-page paper?”
At 71, Mr. Butz is trim, with wire-rimmed glasses and a close-cropped silver beard, and he dresses in flannel shirts and cargo pants. Since his retirement and his wife’s death in 2017, he considered traveling — to England or Latvia, or riding the Trans-Siberian Railway. But here he was, a freshly minted newspaper proprietor, having stepped in at the beginning of the year to save The Mountain Messenger, California’s oldest weekly newspaper, from extinction.
The Messenger was founded in 1853. Its most famous scribe was Mark Twain, who once wrote a few stories — with a hangover, the legend goes — while hiding out here from the law.
Newspapers across America, especially in rural areas like here in Sierra County, have been dying at an alarming rate, and Downieville was about to become the latest “news desert.” The obituaries for the paper had already been written. Don Russell, the hard-drinking, chain-smoking editor with a blunt writing style who had owned and run the paper for nearly three decades, was retiring, and he seemed happy enough for the paper to die with his retirement.
And then one night Mr. Butz was watching “Citizen Kane” on cable and thought, I can do that. He made the deal quickly, paying a price in the “four figures,” he said, plus the assumption of some debts, without even looking at the books.
Still, Mr. Russell, an old friend of Mr. Butz’s, was a reluctant seller. “His position was, it’s a losing proposition and someone who’d want it would be crazy,” Mr. Butz said. “He called me a romantic idealist and a nut case. And that’s not a paraphrase, but a direct quote.”
For the residents of Downieville — and there are not many; the population is about 300 — who for generations counted on The Messenger to arrive every Thursday, through wildfires and power outages and economic booms and busts, Mr. Butz has become an unlikely local hero, a savior of a cherished institution.
“Thank God for Carl, he stepped in,” said Liz Fisher, a former editor of the paper who lives across the street from its office and runs The Sierra County Prospect, an online news site. “It was devastating for everybody that we were going to lose The Mountain Messenger.”
A cluttered, smoke-filled newsroom
On a recent Wednesday morning, facing his first deadline, Mr. Butz was staring down a blank computer screen in the newspaper’s cramped two-room office above a beauty salon on Main Street. Mr. Butz, a fourth-generation Californian and a former computer programmer and labor economist for the state, readily admitted that he had no idea what he had gotten himself into, and it did not help to learn that the paper’s publishing software was from the mid-1990s.
One of the first things he said he would do after buying the paper was ban smoking in the office, but next to his keyboard was a package of unfiltered cigarettes and an ashtray.
“What is the lead story?” Mr. Butz asked.
“The front page is blank,” replied Jill Tahija, the paper’s only other employee, sitting at an adjacent computer.
Ms. Tahija, who has worked at The Messenger for 11 years, might properly be called the managing editor, but on her business cards it says, “she who does the work.”
Her small black-and-white dog, Ladybug, a Boston terrier-Shih Tzu-Chihuahua mix, bounded around the cluttered newsroom. On every surface were books and trinkets and junk — Civil War histories, annals of the county, dictionaries, empty beer bottles, packages of ramen noodles.
In the archives section are old papers dating to the 1850s, and on the walls are pictures of Mark Twain and some slogans — old saws of newspapering, like “If it bleeds, it leads.”
Mr. Russell, who was on vacation, driving his R.V. up the coast with his wife, when Mr. Butz took over the paper, once told The Los Angeles Times that Twain had written a few unremarkable stories for The Messenger. Mr. Russell had read them on microfilm at a library. “They were awful,” he said. “They were just local stories, as I recall, written by a guy with a hangover.”
At his computer, Mr. Butz was putting together one of his first new features for the paper, a “poetry corner.” (He selected “Thoughts,” by Myra Viola Wilds, an African-American poet from Kentucky who wrote in the early 20th century.) As Ms. Tahija worked on the front page — the next day it would be filled with stories about a local poetry competition, the upcoming census, wildfire prevention and a local supervisors meeting — Mr. Butz shifted his focus to finishing his letter to readers.
In it, he explained why he bought the paper. “Simply put,” he wrote, “the horrible thought of this venerable institution folding up and vanishing after 166 years of continuous operation was simply more than I could bear.”
The newspaper, he wrote, was “something we need in order to know ourselves.”
‘Like losing a friend’
Making a newspaper in Downieville is strictly an analog, ink-on-paper affair; there is no website, no social media accounts. It loses a few thousand dollars a year, and relies mostly on publishing legal notices from the county and other government offices, which brings in about $50,000 a year, for the bulk of its revenue. It has about 700 subscribers and a print run of 2,400 copies, just below the county’s population.
“I’m not going to lose a million dollars but I know I’m going to have to subsidize some of it,” Mr. Butz said. “My daughter is already aware that her inheritance is shrinking.”
Downieville is a remarkably well-preserved old Gold Rush town, perched at a fork in the Yuba River in remote western Sierra County. History is its pitch to tourists, and it has the feel of a backlot for an Old West movie — in its corner saloon, in the one-lane bridges over the Yuba, and in the second-story offices of The Messenger, next to the Fire Department. (A painted message on the door says it is the “oldest volunteer fire department west of the Mississippi.”)
With the demise of gold mining and the shuttering of the sawmills that were once an economic engine for the region, Downieville reinvented itself as a destination for mountain biking and fly fishing, with an abundance of Old West charm.
Residents reacted to Mr. Butz’s last-minute purchase of the paper with a mixture of relief and gratitude.
“A real sense of relief,” said Lee Adams, a former Sierra County sheriff and a current member of the county’s Board of Supervisors.
The paper was always an important institution, but it had become more so in recent years as Northern California dailies like The Sacramento Bee and The San Francisco Chronicle stopped distributing in the region, and rarely sent reporters to cover Sierra County.
“We would have to fall off the face of the earth to make one of those papers on a normal news day,” Mr. Adams said.
The Messenger is more than just a chronicle of weekly happenings — government meetings, births and deaths, the police blotter, the weather — but also a repository of the county’s history. The paper is just a year younger than Sierra County, which was founded in 1852, the year Wells Fargo was established to serve the Gold Rush and the riches being dredged from the river.
When Bill Copren, 76, a local historian and a former county assessor, wrote his master’s thesis on the political history of Sierra County in the mid-19th century, he relied on The Messenger’s archives.
More recently, when officials secured a spot on the National Register of Historic Places for a local school built in the Art Deco style in 1931, they used the paper’s archives to confirm the details of how it was built and who paid for it.
The paper’s closure, Mr. Copren said, would have been “like losing a friend.”
Under Mr. Russell, The Messenger had a distinctive attitude and a brusque, straightforward style. He was averse to political correctness and not immune from using curse words in print.
Mr. Butz said he did not plan to own the paper for long, and wanted to find a younger person who could take over. He said he was thinking about bringing the paper into the digital age, with a website, and was thinking about turning it into a nonprofit publication, accepting donations and grants to keep it running.
But on a recent Thursday morning, the day after deadline, he was just happy to have his first issue under his belt.
His Thursday routine is now established: He gets up early and drives about an hour and a half to a printing plant in Quincy, Calif., to pick up the bundles of freshly printed newspapers. On the way, he and Scott McDermid, the paper’s longtime distribution manager, stop at the Express Coffee Shop for waffles and eggs.
And then, with a truck full of papers, they crisscross the county, past the tall cedars and Douglas firs of the mountains, and across the Sierra Valley, dotted with junipers and cottonwoods, stopping at every shop and gas station, emptying newspaper machines of last week’s edition, collecting money and dropping off fresh bundles of The Messenger. The story around town is how Mr. Butz saved the local newspaper. But Mr. Butz, a still-grieving widower — his wife, Cecilia Kuhn, the drummer in an all-female punk band, Frightwig, died in 2017 — sees it another way.“It’s saving me,” he said.

109: Gas Prices: I don’t like that they exist. They’re decent, I suppose, for what they have been.
86: The thing that I’m looking forward to the most: My girlfriend coming to visit
37: Candy: ~Hi-Chew~
2: Dog breed: I’m partial to Yorkshire Terrier-Chihuahua mixes ~ (I like Doge, Pomeranian, German Shepherd and greyhound)
