So I recently started reading/watching Mashle: Magic and Muscles and LET ME TELL YOU,

This is one of the most ACCURATE representations of how teenagers in high school (or high school equivalent) fight/argue that I have seen in a while!

Firstly, I love the acknowledgment that some of these kids have been together since middle school, and so have already spent a few years together. It's why they already have established patterns (bullies/friends groups) and know so much about eachother.

Secondly - especially with Mash being a genuinely kind person - when there is a fight, they get over it so simply. Which, in my experiance is pretty similar to how my high school worked.

Massive fights that faded into nothing, and the next day you turn around and are friends again because "well we gotta do this assignment anyways."

Mash just hears people out and goes "yeah that's fair, see you in class." And that's so relatable!

High schoolers are weird! They're stuck in a building together day in and out for an absurd amount of time! Their relationships are constantly fluctuating and changing! Mashle does a fantastic job of showing that.

The fights too! In the moment these teenagers are genuinely trying to kill each other, because that's how intense thier emotions are, but still no one actually dies. (so far, no spoilers!) When they see another student go too far, it's acknowledged!

So yeah, the teens in Mashle are written really well and I like them a lot.

It terrifies Bruce, a little, that the first time Batman and Robin pull up to a mauling victim, Robin is acutely calm.

The girl is young, and Batman and Robin were made known to the scene pretty quickly as Batman scares off the dog with a taser.

Despite being the adult, he balks a little at how well Dick handles the toddler in front of him.

Later on, when the girl is seen by paramedics and the mother is finally calmed after being assured that the only physical damage present would be some scarring on her left leg, Bruce takes Dick out for ice cream for being so brave.

Then again, Dick was the one to threaten death upon his parents' murder at the ripe age of 9.

But the incident is filed away, deep in the archives of the BatComputer.

Dick is much older, and has seen much more, but he's still calm when one of his brothers is half-torn apart by a shark on an impulsive surfing trip with their hero friends.

Everyone is panicking because as much as they'd loathe to admit, seeing something that gory is so completely different than being in costume (because being in costume means they're at the very least prepared).

But Dick is calm, and his first aid more immaculate than ever.

When someone asks him about it, how he can stay so calm, he's suddenly 7 again.

He's 7 again and watching his Uncle-not-really-uncle getting mauled by one of the sick tigers. He's watching as his father rushes to help and calms the crowd down.

When he asks his father why he was not scared, he receives this.

"I was terrified for my friend, but panic makes your hands shake, makes you slow. He did not need my fear, he needed me."

Dick tells them that.

hey if you're the type of writer that's like me where you tend to write specific scenes first that vaguely weave together into a plot, you might like using obsidian as a writing app.

my frustration with other writing applications is that i will write my scenes out of order and it's hard to move things around and rearrange them on a regular document.

but with obsidian there's this canvas feature where you can just write all your scenes and plot moments on these little cards that you can freely rearrange. you can color code them and connect them too.

here's the canvas i've created for my current multi-chapter fic: (if you zoom in you can see all the text in each card this what it looks like zoomed out)

as you can see, i color code them based off chapters and will group them next to a document card with the working title of the chapter. anything not color-coded are scenes that don't have a proper place quite yet or it's just world building references. this app can also be good for note-taking and collecting research!

best of all, it's FREE!!! the only downside is that if you want your stuff to sync across devices, you do have to pay for that. i constantly hop between my laptop and desktop so i pay for the syncing. but if you write on only one device it's completely free! EDIT: some reblogs have mentioned that you can apparently link your own personal cloud storage (dropbox, gdrive, icloud, etc.) to obsidian for free! that way you can access your obsidian vaults across multiple devices without the extra fee. i don't mind supporting the devs but just something to look into if costs is a concern.

i typically use it for organizing my thoughts for a first draft. once i get all the scenes arranged and mostly written out, i will copy and paste them into ellipsus (also free & highly recommended as a google doc alternative) so that they're all in one document that i can edit.

Was reading Twincognito on AO3 when I stumbled across this gem again:

Now I really want to read a story where Bruce adopts Danny post Meta trafficking and is being his usual emotionally constipated self. His kids keep getting mad at him because he's treating their new meta brother who was trafficked poorly (generally being stilted in conversation with him, walking away hurriedly mid-conversation, avoiding Danny when he's feeling really awkward, etc). They think Bruce is discriminating against Danny for being a civilian, meta, dealer's pick, but really it's just Bruce being horribly socially awkward. Danny knows this because of ghost empathy and find the whole thing hilarious. The whole thing comes to a head with the Bat Kids staging an intervention in the Bat Cave.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

You grab the bearded one's wrist when his hand slides up your thigh, his fingers tantalizing close to the seam of your trousers. It does little to deter him. Mostly just makes it slightly harder for him to press his fingertips against your clothed cunt.

"Be better if she was wearin' a skirt." The one in the mask says.

"We'll make it work." Beard replies.

You cast a furtive look around the train car, or attempt to, most of your view is blocked by two men standing in the middle of the aisle chatting casually. You try to catch one of their eyes as the mask grabs your wrist and slides your hand against the front of his jeans. The straining length of his cock feels monstrous and warm even though the denim.

One of the men chatting finally glances your way and smiles, before raising a finger to his lips.

Okay, but Bruce Wayne knows the handwriting of everyone he cares about. From Alfred and Babs curls to Damian's neat and carefully printed letters. Bruce also knows that all of his kids have learned to forge their siblings' (and his) handwriting. To the point where it's pure perfection. (He would frown, but he's very impressed they all know each other's handwriting and how much pressure they use.)

HOWEVER, I raise you all;

Anytime the Bats are in a particular mood, they forge a siblings' handwriting. It started with Jason and Dick, after Jason broke a few windows and made apology letter 'written,' by Dick. And Bruce bought it- but Dick was confused when he saw it because he wasn't there.

And then it spirals from there.

Now, the Bat's can forge anybody handwriting. Any of them. From Clark Kent's to Lex Luthor. It get's so ridiculous that they start having competitions at a team's respective base, leaving notes in the leaders' handwriting.

'Oh, Jason wants ice cream? Okay.'

Except Jason hasn't seen the Outlaws for two months because he's dealing with a drug bust.

'Tim wants mint tea today? Odd. But okay.'

Tim immediately spits out the tea asking why he would get the monstrosity.

The best is when Dick gaslights the JL with posts- its. It's Bruce's handwriting on the fridge and on notes. The team thinks he's talking to himself.

And Bruce? He's just very tired of it.

Final manifestations for Book 7?

I'm trying REALLY hard not to build up any solid expectations, because I wanna go in ~fresh~! they're already so far away from anything I thought would happen (not in a bad way, I'm just accepting that I'm on Miss Yana's Wild Ride at this point and we're seeing this thing through 'til the end, by gum). so it's nothing too major, but:

they've been handing new crying expressions out like candy lately, I want to see some delicious Malleus tears.

honestly I want everyone to cry buckets. their tears sustain me. the more Silver angst specifically I get the happier I am.

Au where Damian comes to Gotham with the goal of infiltrating and eventually overthrowing Batman instead of inheriting the mantle. Not much changes from canon except for the fact that he views everything that batman owns as his. That's his future cave and his future batmobile. This also includes his robins. After all everyone knows Batman wouldn't really be Batman without them.

Cue a very bewildered Tim being lectured on his eating habits by a righteous Damian who won't let one of his people take shortcuts with their health.
