#we watched half of the big lebowski so far (is it written like that??)#its fuckin hilarious #but we also watched the big sleep literally RIGHT before and its such a shift #like theres colour?? and people are not all properly dressed all the time and stuff?#theres not a gun in every single car? you got 'fuck' and generally modern language? a totally different kind of humour?#theres COLOUR. that was the biggest shift i think. fuckin colour. like yeah it. it sure is. colourful #the big sleep was really good tho. confusing at times but surprisingly funny #the hardest part was keeping track of people bc as someone whos faceblind as fuck i usually go off the clothes #but they all wore super similar clothes and there was no colour to differentiate them so that was. An Experience. but i managed #it was a really good film tho. didnt answer my specific ass questions towards that time and is also abt a decade later than i need but #its definitely great to get a feel for the time. and once again there was slang used that ive spent hours over (if not as much)#i still dont get why its called the big sleep tho. like if thats referring to death--sure there were a lot of dead people #but like thats not special for a detective noir film #i am SO looking forward to the rest of the big lebowski tho its very funny #and also dance of the vampires is on the list soon #and the maltese falcon which means 30s!! detective noir film!!
