(inspired by this post by nullphysics)
How had he gotten here? McCoy had just finished his gamma shift and had paperwork to finish when he entered his office and found Spock sat in his desk chair in low lighting. Other alpha shift crew members would be getting well needed shut eye but Spock was awake, because of course he was, and in a moody lighting no less. Like this was normal. As McCoy stood there, in the middle of his own office, staring at his own occupied chair, the Vulcan watched him intently.
"I think you'll find Sick Bay is my domain, Mr Spock. You stay in your lane. Or is there a reason why you're crowding up my office?"
Spock was silent, so Leonard stalked around his desk and faced him directly with his hands on his hips. The first officer of the Enterprise rotated the chair to face McCoy but said nothing.
"Well?"
"I believe we have many things to say, but so far, only actions have been prevalent in our communication."
McCoy blanched.
Yes, exactly that. That-which-he-had-avoided-thinking-about-as-much-as-he-could, Spock just finally put some semblance of words to what the hell had been happening between them both for a long while now.
Stolen glances across the bridge that lingered for a few seconds longer than appropriate.
Working together in the sick bay labs, noticing they were standing too close, closing the gap a little further, Spock pausing.
McCoy grabbing Spock by the front of his science blues in anger during one of their disagreements and the fury filtering out of Leonard at the heated stare Spock gave back.
Spock pulling Bones from a treturous fall from a ledge on a beam down just last week, and their bodies being pinned for a few moments after the rescue, feeling the rise and fall of deep breaths of relief against the other, a subtle push and pull as they pressed their chests together harder.
"Listen, Spock, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable—"
Spock held out his hand. "Cease speaking, Leonard. You misunderstand." With that hand, Spock took McCoy by the wrist and pulled him gently, but it took the doctor by surprise and he fell haphazardly into Spock on his desk chair.
He paused, gripping Spock's shoulder for balance and before Bones could retract the position, Spock lifted his knees to shimmy McCoy squarely into his lap.
The doctor felt his face heat immediately. It only got even hotter as he felt cool finger tips at the hem of his tunic lifting it and exposing his stomach, when the air touched his exposed flesh he groaned in the back of his throat.
Spock's hypersensitive hands must be feeling the tremor of anticipation in McCoy's abdominal muscles; the pads of those long elegant fingers could surely feel Bones' racing heartbeat as they traced up his torso slowly. He trusted the Vulcan was shielding his touch telepathy, to defend McCoy against betraying his own thoughts projecting to Spock, protecting his privacy even in this intensely intimate moment. Not that it mattered, as every goddamn emotion was projecting from his face and told Spock all he needed to know.
Stop. Don't stop. We can't do this. I've been wanting this for so long I can't remember when it began but all I know is if you stop touching me I'm gonna— Combust.
Spock's left hand joined the right in its ministrations, as though trying to touch as much of McCoy as he could, as though he were irresistible. Bones' shoulders shrugged up self-consciously.
Leonard knew the strength behind this soft sensuous touch, that Vulcan strength could easily snap him in two without any effort at all, and if that wasn't hot as hell— the physician's tension in his shoulders seemed to snap at the thought and he squirmed in Spock's lap, his hands coming down on Spock's thighs and holding on tightly.
"Something on your mind, Doctor?" Spock asked, cool and calm, the only indication that anything was getting through that Vulcan façade was clear for McCoy to see if he dared to glance down.
"Don't you mind me, Spock." Bones' chest rose and fell in one deep breath. "Carry on, then." He added haughtily.
Spock's eyebrow quirked. That bastard.
There was a beat where nothing happened, but McCoy straightened himself so he could gaze at Spock and gauge what the hell he was playing at. He was acutely aware of Spock's muscled thighs under his ass, and opened his mouth to say something because he had no idea what to do—And then those cool, soft, competent fingers rose higher and higher and warm palms smoothed along his ribs. McCoy groaned and fell forwards, his face inches from Spock's neck.
Here Bones could see Spock's expression up close. Those micro movements of th Vulcan's features that gave him away, and the bastard looks like he thinks the sun comes up just to hear him crow. I'll show him, McCoy thought, and pressed his lips to Spock's.

"Captain’s log, Stardate 688 09.9:
4 weeks in the big chair and it still takes me an extra second to remember it’s my final orders the bridge waits on. Today, my chatty science officer even told me “careful, Grayson; even a small leak can sink a great ship”. I told the kid I’d make sure to put it in my log so here it is.
It has been only 6 weeks since the so-called “New Gods” attacked the Federation, and the Long Shadows and its brave, young crew are not just grieving the loss of their captain but one of our world’s finest…;a man whom, despite our rocky history, I saw as a brother. Aboard the Federation’s lead emergency and rescue vessel, our crew is, on a daily, reckoning with the fallout of the final crisis in the Alpha Quadrant and the power vacuum left in its wake. Firefighting aside, our crew is also adapting, rather hurriedly, to the musical chairs in both senior and junior staff.
I began my career on the bridge of this fateful ship and somehow I always find my way back to it. It wasn’t long ago that I was a small, cocky, upstart ensign, masking tragedy with a smile. I was just lucky that my captain saw something he liked in me. “I’ll be head monkey before you know it” I used to tell Bruce and, cruelly, that was closer to the truth than I could have imagined. It’s strange how much of an imposter I feel in his chair— my chair now. Just weeks ago, I was commanding the Big Apple, which gives me more pleasure than I can say but…this— this ship is different; Bruce made it his and to take over as their captain? I should know more than anyone; the show must go on. I’ve spent too much time treating this role as a memorial. It’s time to properly redefine the role as my own. Life’s a carnival and it’s time I take the stage.
My first act as captain was appointing Ens. Wayne as my chief science officer; the very role I served under his father when I was an ensign no older than him. This may raise eyebrows but, while I can’t always excuse the kid’s abrasiveness and pride, I want it on record that I have my full confidence in his abilities. Ens. Wayne is a determined and focused officer whose brilliant thinking has already saved dozens of lives. Any sniff of bigotry regarding his Romulan heritage, on and off this ship, will be dealt with directly by me. And Miss Brown. He’s a diamond in the rough but I expect the rest of my seasoned bridge crew to rub off on him. There’s something written in the stars about a captain and their science officer, and there’s no one on this crew as ready as Damian to begin a new chapter in their story; we’re gonna be a hell of a duo.
I have worked closely with Counselor Brown since she returned to The Shadows from service on the medical vessel Katavi. Miss Brown is inspiringly driven. She’s a practiced medic though an unconventional choice for a counselor but I’m sure she’d take that as a compliment. She has a magnetic charm and a gift for connecting with others, and is a savvy diplomat when she remembers to not to think aloud. She was always prone to the odd risk, especially when lives are on the line in the field, though it’s safe to say that she never runs out of ideas. “If I was gonna play by the book, I’d have never left Earth,” she told me recently. Dr. Pennyworth claims she reminds him of…well, me but I don’t know, I don’t really see it. Perhaps the lines between bravery and recklessness are blurrier than I thought, and maybe every starship needs medics and counselors with Miss Brown’s unyielding dedication to the wellbeing of others.
It’s been a… a pleasure to serve alongside Cmdr. Gordon again, after almost 2 years. Sometimes it is…a lot to share a bridge with someone who’s known you so inti— known you for so long. Especially when tensions are high. Nonetheless, there is no one on this ship I trust more to set me straight if need be. In fact, there may be no one on this ship I trust more. This ship would have never left its dock if we didn’t have Cmdr. Gordon in charge of operations. Barbara’s truly the ship’s 411— if there were two of her, I’d opt to retire the ship’s computer. She’s a born leader; also responsible for the appointment of half of my senior bridge staff and she comfortably takes the big chair when required. We’ve always made a great team, which will mean a few clashes and compromises too. To whoever it may concern, we’ll keep things professional this time, I promise…
Lt. Cmdr. Bertinelli is a stellar security chief and it’s in these uncertain times that her very own Atlas of Organised Crime is consulted significantly, on and off this ship. I’ll admit that the two of us haven’t had the smoothest of working— or personal— relationships in the past but “the past” is all it is. I’m happy to call Helena one of my greatest allies— and friends. It’s been lovely to see someone so solitary find a family on board this ship. I may not always see eye-to-eye with Cmdr. Bertinelli but I have no qualms in saying that she would be a captain by now if Star Fleet tribunal and their rulings against her weren’t riddled with rigid hierarchies and double standards.
My 1st Officer, Lt. Cmdr. Kane, certainly knows how to run a tight ship. She has made it clear that she thinks mine lacks a little discipline and caution. Her security background really shows and we definitely have different styles in leadership but hopefully the Shadows can get the best out of both worlds. In her words; “this ship is facing a different breed of threat and disaster every day, so it needs a different breed of crew”. She’s happy to take the bridge when an away team is needed so she’s probably spent more time in the captain’s chair than I have by now.
Lt. Cmdr. Montoya was an instrumental player in Star Fleet’s response to the final crisis and she is determined to honour the memory of the late Mr. Sage, whose post she has assumed. She’s a veteran investigator who’s quickly learning the ropes to service aboard a starship and she already sets a high bar on scouting and espionage assignments. Cmdr.s Kane, Montoya and Bertinelli, form a simply excellent criminal investigation team, although I won’t pretend to understand their more personal relationships with each other.
Doctor Pennyworth, as he was before, has been my rock. He’s the heart of this ship, and he does a solid job at keeping its crew alive and well. The Shadows just isn’t the Shadows without him.
It’s no secret how hard Lt. Drake is taking Capt. Wayne’s passing— his regular counselling sessions with Miss Brown too often end in a screaming match in the hallway. For the record, I stand by my decision to give Mr. Drake’s bridge posting to Ens. Wayne and put Mr. Drake in charge of engineering. The Ensign is a real prodigy and needs this show of good faith while Mr. Drake, who has been a brilliant science officer to Capt. Wayne for almost 4 years, deserved the chance to step out of his old captain’s shadow. Nonetheless, our relationship has soured since I, in his words, “kicked him off my bridge” but that is not to say I don’t have the utmost faith in his performance as our new chief engineer.
Lt. Cain has been distant…let me rephrase that— Lt. Cain has been taken to self-isolating since the captain’s passing. Counselor Brown says sometimes she’ll go almost an entire counseling session without saying a word. Funny enough, when I suggested joint sessions with Mr. Drake, the counselor told me to get out of her office. Babs— Cmdr. Gordon, sorry, insists Miss Cain will come around in time; she knows she is among dear friends. She continues to be reliable and cool under pressure at the ship’s helm, adept at assignments in zero-G, and a clinical melee fighter when it’s called for. Yesterday, I suggested that she also head combat training down at security and she smiled, so maybe she will take up that offer.
On a ship so aptly named, it’s hard to forget that old sins cast long shadows. We now reckon with both old foes and threats unforeseen, which place the now vulnerable Federation in jeopardy and expose the cracks in its facade. It’s almost as if the ship herself questions how well we learn from history, and how history will remember us."

okay your idea about your Eggman being more of a Superman villain is very interesting! I'm curious what you think are the characteristics of a proper Superman villain because apart from being selfish I can't really think of anything for that
So with the obvious corollary that anything as long-running as Superman has 'meant' a lot of different things to a lot of different people, my primary footholds in the Man of Steel's mythos are Superman: The Animated Series, and more recently, My Adventures With Superman.
To me, "what Superman is about" as posited by STAS is a kind of optimistic retrofuturism. Not optimistic in the sense that it's a utopia with no problems, but in that it is a story with its head lifted, gazing hopefully at the stars and asking the question, what are humans capable of? What's our potential? What can we become, if we put our minds to it?
This is an ideology that you can find just as well-embodied in that series' incarnation of Lois Lane- madam high standards alpha reporter- as it does in, say, Lex Luthor. The superman villains aren't generally depicted as antagonists of progress- they are depicted as sinister or selfish aspects of progress. Luthor seeing himself as the greatest man who is not opposed to Superman until he realizes Supes can't be bought. It's a battle over what sun will rise over the city of tomorrow.
This is interesting to approach in a Sonic lens, granted, because the Sonic franchise doesn't really concern itself all that much with 'the future' generally speaking, the occasional dalliance in time travel aside. At least where the main characters are concerned, the goal is a lot more grounded in the present, in right now- and only looking forwards enough to ensure that there will be more right nows to enjoy.
Like Superman, Eggman is a character who's meant a lot of different things, (and I'm a lot more versed in different Sonic incarnations than I am with Superman) but one of the guiding throughlines of Eggman is that he is a city-builder. This is a guy with big designs on the future- designs that are so important for him that even his nastiest incarnations can be semi-regularly counted on to help save the day just so there's a future there for him to take over.
One concept I rotate around with my take on Eggman specifically is that he is a "miracle worker" in the best and worst way. He is the guy who can just transcend limits that are holding you back! Why tolerate being shown up by some smug punk who's better than you when you could run circles around him? Your sorry situation has a solution and you can just trust the smartest guy in the world to fix it up for you!
There's a period of time in the IDW Sonic comics where Eggman loses his memory, and what fascinates me about this is that without his memory of commitments, he defaults to fixing everything, and being overjoyed to do it. When that exact incarnation can also be absolutely terrifying- Ian Flynn writes a very scary Eggman- I'm enraptured by this notion of an Eggman who sees all of his destructive, supervillainous, domineering actions as fixes. This is a problem, that's a problem, the people who refuse to agree with him about the right way to do things are a problem, the government is a problem and that damned hedgehog that keeps breaking all his things is the problem. But he'll fix it all! The doctor is in!
This is a guy who is very concerned about a Bright Future guided by science, and depending on the guy, he might actually be onto something... but he also might be mentally casting you as a footnote in his magnum opus.

Knowledge… is a good thing. Whether it’s a painful wisdom to learn, whether it’s beneficial, regardless of what it is, it’s a good thing. We should always strive to learn, to better ourselves. No one is perfect. We all have gaping holes in our knowledge. What we do with those gaps is what makes the difference.
For instance, I have a blind spot when it comes to science. I just… can’t grasp it. I’ve tried and ended up completely getting it wrong. Or it’s just beyond me—perhaps the science an article is discussing is of the sort someone with a PhD would know and understand. That’s okay, because I admit it. I acknowledge it. I have a blind spot. So I learn to trust the experts, add to it what little piecemeal I DO understand, and manage to get by.
Stagnation is the worst thing that can happen to a person. Becoming complacent. Becoming… painfully comfortable. A wolf would sooner gnaw off its leg than be doomed in a trap. Stagnation is staying in the trap and dying of starvation.
(Don’t get me started on the whole Alpha wolf thing.)
So why did I bring this up? Because in reading and listening to those who have access to insider knowledge, I became aware of a gross misunderstanding and misstatement that I had made.
What was it that I was wrong about?
Jensen’s career. Through the past several weeks, I’ve become aware of something I don’t think was really publicly known. Not unless you had a finger or an insider in the entertainment industry.
It baffled me, admittedly, when Jense’s career stalled after the end of Supernatural. Like… there was NOTHING. Jared had Walker and that took off right after Supernatural ended. But Jensen… crickets.
Then he got Soldier Boy in The Boys, Big Sky. Got CW/WB to sign off on The Winchesters. But overall it was… small. He was rather unemployed for some time, and it confused me. Then piecemeal information brought about that it was seemingly Eric Kripke throwing Jensen a bone. Then Elwood Reid with Big Sky.
But it still didn’t feel RIGHT.
Then through one person, I learned that Jensen’s management/agent team was soft-sabotaging him. His management/agent team determined that Jensen was lead role material and kept ANY other offers from him, be it supporting roles or… whatever. Thus no roles or offers came his way.
It forced JENSEN to do the legwork. It’s why he reached out to Eric Kripke and Elwood Reid. He wasn’t getting any work, and he wanted to work. Later, he reached out to Justin Hartley for Tracker.
Instead of outright firing his management/agent team, Jensen just switched managers and agents within the companies (correction: he had switched managers in 2020, and then the manager passed away, forcing Jensen to switch again)—which, to me, is a big mistake. Because take a look. Yes, prior to Countdown happening, not much HAPPENED. What he should’ve done was followed what Taraji Henson did—and fired them all.
For this, I admit I was wrong. I hadn’t realized his own team was sabotaging his success.
For this, Jensen, I’m so sorry I was wrong.
Edited to fix a minor mistake about Jensen's manager.

Thinking Harry is going to be arrogant and thinks he’s better than anyone; when Louis has to get information he’s surprised by the singers kindness. Although, it seems that Harry’s not all he seems to be, and that he’s hiding something from everyone around him.
Danger I Can't Hide by CelticSky (E, WIP, 156k+, WW2 au, fighter pilots, strangers to friends to lovers) Flying Officer Styles and Sergeant Tomlinson would have likely never crossed paths in a time of peace, their lives laid out neatly, predictably before them. Comfort. Companionship. Understanding. Another person to lose.

The Trouble with Tardigrade Trolleys (Discovery rewatch)
And apologia and a rant. It's a BOGO post!
Discovery’s use and abuse of the tardigrade is a feature not a bug. Let’s try to set aside questions of whether or not this is immersion breaking for the Star Trek setting for a moment, and look at it as a thought experiment.
This is one of the better “trolley problem” style moral dilemmas that I’ve seen in Star Trek. Usually Star Trek writers are a bit self righteous or maybe squeamish. They can’t help themselves, a lot of them approach Trek as a series of moral teachings wrapped in the aesthetics of science fiction.
A lot of the time these moral teachings are only moderately more subtle than a special episode of a children’s TV show: “Oh no, the Mauve Ranger is bullying people to fit in!”
Simple and easy stories where the correct answer is written in eleventeen foot tall neon letters and there’s very little or no ambiguity or attempt to steelman the other choice.
In edgy adult dramas, sometimes you get the guy from “24” torturing someone to reveal the location of a dirty bomb. That “someone” is a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer or from a culture we’re socially programmed to feel less empathy for. At least I assume that’s what happened. I never actually watched “24” because even though I’m writing about Discovery’s use and abuse of the tardigrade as a trolley problem and pretending this can be dissected as a sterile intellectual discussion, I detest nihilistic storytelling that dehumanizes outgroups and constructs a permission structure to do evil because maybe the worst case scenario could actually happen.
The point being that apologia for human rights violations usually depicts the victim as unsympathetic. Even Star Trek Picard manages to sneak in a trolley problem wherein, from a consequentialist standpoint, Seven is almost entirely in the right to execute a gangster who had dealt in ex-Borg implants extracted via torture and murder. (Spoiler: I was not happy about this scenario.)
Discovery’s tardigrade problem is remarkably willing to confront moral ambiguity and thus, to my mind, is a much better and thus more interesting trolley problem because the deck hasn’t been stacked to allow an easy and obvious exception to most well adjusted people’s moral hangups around torture and murder.
It's not trying to hide the ball here. It’s very easy to cry animal abuse or torture. It's easy because that is exactly what is happening.
Yet on the other tracks are hundreds of innocent lives.
What makes this a well constructed trolley problem is that “Ripper” the tardigrade has blood on its claws. It's also, by most standards, terrifying and hideous. It may as well be a xenomorph from Alien in how sympathetic it is. Except….. We are shown that it has a gentle side. It's surprisingly willing to trust unarmed humans considering how many humanoids have tried to kill or imprison it up to this point.
And let's face it, the show gave us every conceivable signal possible to tee us up to not feel sorry for Landry. So much so that I was completely convinced that she was from the Mirror Universe, like Lorca, until she died trying to hack off one of Ripper’s limbs. Memory Alpha informs me that Star Trek Online gave her a tragic backstory, I don’t consider STO canon and I don’t even consider it “canon until disproved by onscreen events” but I will give them credit for trying to clean up the continuity such that it doesn’t seem as much like Landry is supposed to be representative of Starfleet security for this era.
The first time the spikes that link it to the Spore drive are inserted into it, you don’t need a close up of Burnham’s face to recognize Ripper’s agony. By that point most people capable of empathy for a nonhuman, non-fuzzy creature are already starting to see it more like a manatee or a weird bear than a monster. Bringing Star Trek back into the room, in my mind this is VERY good Star Trek.
What makes it good Star Trek is that we’re being asked to empathize with a monstrous creature, to reexamine its motives and behavior in a fresh light with new context, and to appreciate its pain. If we set aside our desire to view Star Trek as a documentary of an enlightened society that has figured out how to instill perfect morality into its citizens, then I think we also see another thing that Trek is good at: showing people doing the work of realizing they’ve made a terrible decision that flies in the face of their values and trying to fix it.
It’s critical to recall that the Tardigrade isn’t suffering because our heroes are bad people. Okay Landry and Lorca are bad people (weird that the two human monsters have L names.) It’s suffering because 1. Nobody has quite realized its sentient yet. 2. Their conception of what if anything causes it physical discomfort is not very well developed (at least the first time it’s used) and 3. Hundreds of people will die if Discovery doesn’t use the Tardigrade to initiate a spore jump to the dilithium mine currently under attack by Klingons.
The original scenario in s1e4 “The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry” (which is such a metal title) is very much a ticking clock that takes place in conditions of ambiguous knowledge with not a certain amount of pressure to look away from the moral hazard staring the characters in the face. It bears repeating, several hundred miners and their families are at risk, as well as a key resource keeping Starfleet able to hold the line against the Klingons.
The additional usages of the Spore Drive are harder to justify. Not impossible, but more difficult. By s1e5 “Choose Your Pain” it’s abundantly clear that Ripper is being harmed by the jumps, jumping too frequently is causing Ripper harm faster than it can recover, and some of the crew are definitely getting squeamish. Lorca rattles off a list of achievements as a result of the Spore Drive representing lives saved, the Klingon capacity to make war reduced etc.
So the bleakness of it all is that there is inarguably blood on the crew’s hands for inflicting pain on a creature that the crew no longer is blinded to but one could also argue there would be blood on their hands if they had the capacity to intervene and failed to. (To what degree if any you have culpability for failing to prevent something profoundly awful from happening if you must violate an important moral precept to do it is what makes the trolley problem so interesting and debates around, say, Batman killing the Joker incredibly interesting, but often VERY heated.)
It's also uncomfortable but not hard to understand why, with its back to the wall, Starfleet is interested in capturing more Tardigrades and using them for propulsion, despite the mounting evidence that this is profoundly cruel.
At this point, I will once again throw open the doors to the clean room and “contaminate” it with spores of classic Trek morality.
As the secular humanist, cruelty averse do gooders; I find it shocking, offensive even as a fan, that when presented with a trolley problem that I personally think would be an example of an easy slam dunk, Starfleet balks at the much easier, much more moral path.
That trolley problem being permit the use of genetic engineering to adapt humans to act as Spore Drive navigators in place of the Tardigrades….
OR
Keep inflicting suffering upon a being that can feel pain.
And Starfleet shouts down the genetic engineering solution, because the legacy of the Eugenics War and the prohibition on genetic alterations is somehow more important than winning a war in which everything about the society in which Federation citizens currently live in will undoubtedly get A LOT worse, and the body count tremendous. Also remember at this point we don’t know that for whatever reason Stamets is the only viable candidate.
As much as I’m enjoying rewatching this show much more than I ever expected, this is infuriating!
Who thought it was at all logically defensible for Starfleet to turn down the ability to mass produce Spore Drive navigators instead of trying to capture a lifeform that is VERY dangerous when provoked?
Who thought it was consistent with the characterization of Starfleet to decide Eugenics was worse than torture?
To make matters worse, this isn’t an example of a Badmiral gaslighting HQ like Dougherty in Insurrection, this is Starfleet’s equivalent of the joint chiefs! What the hell?!
Clearly someone just pulled the prohibition on genetic engineering out because it was an already established piece of Star Trek canon as a way to rationalize why the obvious solution of just letting a volunteer pilot the darn ship couldn’t have been done immediately after the Tardigrade curls up and goes on strike. And critically this rationalization was conjured without any real consideration as to how silly, if not downright evil it makes Starfleet Command look.

Guardians Of Africa: Rebels Shall Rise
Hello World!
Recently, I rewatched Ms Marvel (2022), Hawkeye (2021), Spiderman: Far from Home and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I got me thinking that I really love teen superheroes in the MCU. Trust me, I would give me soul to Captain Marvel and Iron Man, but it's really cool to see relatable, kickbutting teenagers in Marvel movies and shows. It got me thinking that maybe I want to do that, create my own teen super. What better way to make a teenager character when you're an actual teenager? Since I can't draw 😔😔😔 I'm just going to write my ideas and add some photos from my good friend Pinterest. Any artist who wants to contribute is free to do so 😁😁😁.

Long ago, a horrible disease spread across Africa called the Great Plague. It made people sick in bed for days and meet their demise in a week. Thankfully, the disease went as fast as it came but not without side effects. Survivors of the Great Plague now possessed superhuman abilities and dedicated themselves to defense their nations. They were called West-bloods.
A hundred years later, young West-bloods are trained in special academies to hon their powers and become Guardians of Africa.
Nancy Chidinma Godwin, the main character, began her training at ten under her brother James and her father Alex, a powerful West-blood called the Mindbender. Nancy adopted the persona of the Cat Burglar, a master thief and gymnastics prodigy, striving to please her father even at the cost of her own interests and friendships.
After failing a mission to retrieve a stolen gem, Nancy becomes a disappointment to her family. Her father becomes distant, her brother ignores her, and her best friend Tiffany betrays her by dating her brother. In her despair, Nancy decides to stop seeking approval and starts rebelling, cutting her hair into a spiky buzzcut and adopting a new style.
At twelve, Nancy gains super intelligence and electrokinesis, developing a passion for science and coding. She creates fingerless gloves that turn electric energy into physical matter. Despite continuing her training, she loses interest in missions and drops the Cat Burglar alias. Her relationship with her father deteriorates, and she finds a new role model in her aunt, Doctor Beatrice (Trixie), a brilliant engineer who also faced family rejection.
Now fourteen, Nancy begins her first year at the Guardian Institute, an exclusive academy established by the Renegades, led by her father. The Institute, which only accepts 30 students, is divided into three houses: Regal House, Aether House, and Alpha House. Regal House, the most prestigious, is coordinated by the Mindbender. Aether House, the second best, is known for its optimism and being the voice of reason. Alpha House, nicknamed the ‘Rebel House,’ is known for its rule-breaking students and rivalry with Regal House. Despite being offered a place in all three houses, Nancy chooses Alpha House, preferring it over a toxic team.
In Alpha House, Nancy reunites with her old friends Dani and Moses. As she navigates her new life with frosty friendships, awkward Sunday dinners, and constant competitions, Nancy is determined to fix her past mistakes and heal the pain, all while investigating sinister activities within the Institute that may be connected to villains targeting Lagos City.

Paranoia, 4th Edition
Paranoia, More Wester End Games, 1999
1999 was a hell of a time in computing, folks. You had Y2K breathing down everyone's neck, this whole "Internet" thing had finally happened for real, the iMac had just come out, Windows 98 had just come out despite some anti-trust arguments... what more perfect time for a new edition of Paranoia?
If you're not already familiar with the comedy / sci-fi game Paranoia, a quick web search will get you the basics and more "Friend Computer" jokes than you need. Here's how 4th Ed differed from 3rd Ed:
Chutzpah was moved to a skill that you use with Moxie instead of being its own stat.
Exploding dice no longer keep increasing in die size.
The implication of a "secret spectrum" beyond the existing IR-to-UV clearance levels, where someone could have X-Ray Classification or be relegated to the Microwave Undercaste.
The "Zap", "Classic", and "Straight" modes of play were introduced, with perhaps more rules changes than they needed.
Jokes about "Computette" were removed.
Time machines were relegated back to "implied in a few places" instead of just being available to everyone Blue and up.
3rd's switch to roll-under mechanics was reverted, making this version more compatible with supplements from 1st and 2nd.
Several of the less-popular changes from 3rd edition were reverted, including the "Baker's Six-Pack" rule for clones, the Unsecret Societies that no one cared about, and a notorious real-world reference that basically was spoiled milk the moment it hit print.
All in all, Paranoia 4th fell into the "evolution not revolution" bucket, which is honestly ok. Paranoia is still, as Joshua A.C. Newman said, one of only three actual science fiction games ever published. It just needed to find its level of polish. A revolution would mean a completely different game, and this game owns its niche. Who's going to believe a revolution happening in Alpha Complex? (... I have no idea if that's a joke or not.) Anyway, once things got to Paranoia XP, the good stuff from this had mostly been kept, the bad stuff had been removed, and the game was overall stronger for it.
Two adventures were produced: Nothing Rhymes with Orange, and The Grass Is Always Greener Or So They Tell Me It's Above My Clearance Level I've Never Seen Grass. There were no other supplements.
Much like most older Paranoia, the 4th edition has been declared an "unproduct" and is no longer in print. More Wester End Games appears to have been a one-off imprint rather than its own company, but I'm not certain on that one - Paranoia's legal history gets real hazy from about 1995 to 2003.

The second half of the Top 100! We're getting close to number 1. This is numbers 50-41.
Link to part 1. Link to part 2. Link to part 3. Link to part 4. Link to part 5. Link to part 7. Link to part 8. Link to part 9. Link to part 10.
50. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge
Tumblr media
Beat-em-ups are fun, and this one is one of the best, in my opinion. The game has 6-player co-op, 7 playable characters, and many levels of pure beat-em-up bliss. I've enjoyed my time with it, and the story is great. Not to mention, the OG Turtle voices are great.
49. The Plutonia Experiment
Tumblr media
Yes. Just Plutonia on its own. TNT: Evilution is boring. Plutonia got Dario Casali a job at Valve. Sure, it's harder than DOOM II, but I do love the little tricks it uses, which for the most part work better than DOOM II's tricks. But it's lower because there is a barrier to entry. (TWO Arch-Viles in the first friggin' map? On HURT ME PLENTY?!) It's infamous for Go 2 It, though. Good luck, Doom Slayer, you'll need it.
48. Team Fortress 2
Tumblr media
Alright. I was originally considering this to be in the top 10 because of how many hours played and friendships were made because of TF2, but I can't justify it in this list. I still love TF2 and it's my second-most played game on Steam, but I don't play it often these days.
47. Hitman Blood Money
Tumblr media
Agent 47's fourth outing is easily one of his best, and has been the inspiration for the style of the World of Assassination trilogy among other things. The stealth is fantastic and even though you shouldn't go for combat, it's not bad. The way to make things look like an accident greatly vary the game.
46. Serious Sam 3: BFE
Tumblr media
I love Serious Sam 3, it's the game that introduced the Devastator weapon to the Serious Sam arsenal. While the return to Egypt can be disappointing for some, but I actually enjoy it. I usually have my game put on “Vivid” color mode. The boss battle at the end of the game is enjoyable as well. JETPACK!
45. Deus Ex
Tumblr media
You know that gag that says every time you mention Deus Ex, someone reinstalls it? It's totally true. Deus Ex is a game of choices, you can choose to be pacifist or go in guns blazing, and you really don't know who to trust. It's a creative thriller and it's one of the best.
44. Crazy Taxi
Tumblr media
YA YA YA YA YA! Crazy Taxi is just one of those arcade games that's just fun. It's you, your cab, your fares, and a big open map. You're encouraged to drive recklessly, but still not run into things, to raise your fare.
43. You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream
Tumblr media
The third version of YDKJ in the modern era, Full Stream fixes what was wrong with YDKJ 2015, makes it more accessible to people, makes Screws feel more important, remakes the Jack Attack to fit with the “device as controllers” mechanic, and just feels like a tighter YDKJ game.
42. SimCity 3000 Unlimited
Tumblr media
I like 3000 more than 2000, because its advisors are actually characters that guide you into the right way of governing your city, the addition of garbage and neighbor deals, the refinement of how to build zones, the addition of farms, just EVERYTHING. I built more successful cities in 3000 than in 2000, so I think that has something to do with it.
41. Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Tumblr media
More than just “Civilization IN SPACE!”, Alpha Centauri took the Civ formula, tweaked it, added some hard science-fiction, created diverse factions with different goals, made it plausible, and just went to town. This is how you create a spiritual successor to a game.
Look forward to part 7! :D

For science, I had to do this xD, especially cause of a dumb thing on Twitter with Kezzie
What ABO type are you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Eh I always knew I had Top dog Energy after all"
Mun kind of hates this result XD but also? it makes for to much sense when reading the descrption Raph in a way is always trying to prove himself to be an Alpha not liking to take orders, questioning authority mainly Leos XD and of course he is very protective of his friends and family. Raphael even himself soon falls into seeing that being his role and job to fill for his loved ones. Even if he often fears not being able to protect everyone. And though I say he is a switch he truly enjoys the top role.
and for fun why not the rest of my raphs, orginally done from phone why 12's is a screen shot but the rest I did at my computer after deciding I wanted to do my other raphs.

Alpha-Passing Omega
Congrats, you're an alpha-passing omega. Listen, we all have issues with how people perceive us. Deep down you're a soft little bitch, but you would die before admitting that to anyone who hasn't unlocked at least level 5 friendship with you. In social situations requiring someone to step up and take a leadership position, you will do so, but only if nobody else does first. Your public demeanor makes most people think that you're an alpha, but when you're around people you trust, you can admit that you need to be taken care of sometimes and be vulnerable. Just remember that it's okay to ask for help king.
"Pft whatever maybe i'm a little soft what of it?"
Considering his more laid back behavior this dose fit well. Raph when he needs to be can give of a more aggressive air when need be or when he dose get worked up. Raphael can be pretty bad about going alone on things and not often speaking up about when things upset him lole feeling he failed his detective course. That only Splinter found out he was taking. But Raphael can't even bring himself to fight a robot lool alike of his brother he's a soft bitch deep down especially when it comes to his baby girl uwu

Tumblr media
True Alpha
Congrats, you're a True Alpha. Either you were actively trying to get this result to prove to your friends that you're not a little bottom bitch, or you're a true and proper Alpha. You're what most people would call a top, and you probably consider yourself a protective member of your friend group. You're the 'he asked for no pickles' kind of motherfucker, and I salute you for that. Thank you for your service to the bottom community.
"Course 'm an Alpha, why I take down anythin' 'hat thinks it can deal wit' me."
And then you recall this guy lies on his shell and spreads his legs for casey uwu but I agree he is fully alpha I mean look at how he's always quick to pick fights and prove him self better no matter his opponent loke Trax or even Leo. So yes he very much dose feel a need to prove he ain't a little bitch. Kind if why he tends to get aggressive sexually when Casey decides to call him princess. In a tad bit of sacrifice on his own end he dose sort of bite back on his pride it's honestly his biggest display of love uwu
SF
Tumblr media
True Beta
Congratulations on getting the normal wolf xenogender. When alphas and omegas are doing their intricate horny rituals, you aren't particularly bothered. You're attuned to the feelings of those around you, but you feel like your response on the social dominant/submissive spectrum is determined per situation, not per something intrinsic to you. You'll help out an omega in need as easily as you'll follow the directive of an alpha, and that swiss-army-knife kind of mentality is what we need more of in this batshit insane world. Thank you for your service king.
"I definitely like the Swiss army knife mention."
Honestly this result? I feel fits. In the SF comic and game despite the Fact he fits in with many depictions of Raph, its never him challenging Leo out a need to prove himself better because he disagrees with thie leadership. No this raph seems to have understood something Leo hasn't. They you tend to see later in most Raph's growth. Being a team. That's the only time Raphael tends to get harsh with Leo. And fits with hiw he can go either more Dom or sub with Casey he's pretty chill and relaxed either way. And well despite that whole mess they find themselves in? Raph handled things that happened pretty well for someone with a short temper.
MM
Tumblr media
True Alpha
Congrats, you're a True Alpha. Either you were actively trying to get this result to prove to your friends that you're not a little bottom bitch, or you're a true and proper Alpha. You're what most people would call a top, and you probably consider yourself a protective member of your friend group. You're the 'he asked for no pickles' kind of motherfucker, and I salute you for that. Thank you for your service to the bottom community.
"Fuck ya 'm! Ain't nothin' less mad dog of the team!"
The moment I saw Raphael go for protein powered for muscle build I knew this boy was be a pretty typical jock fill role xD and the fact he loves wrestling and joins the team even? Just tells me more I'm right hmjes rowdy and loud and all about violence he knows he's an alpha and everyone else gonna know it to he gotta use his rage!! I just see this boy ready to jump right into conflict needed or not because it's the best way to deal with anything clearly why he met his bestie and boyfriend uwu by kicking their ass. He's very aggressive in that he's not too hesitant about acting on his choices henjust gose for it.

Hallo! :) Fanfic Writer Emoji ask: 😅🛒❌👀
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
> I noticed it with the two Adventscalender "Last Christmas" and "Another Year Has Gone By" stories that I always seem to come back to certain emotions between Julia Grosz and Tine Geissler. That Tine is the brave one at first asking Julia out for that one drink and Julia over the course of time finding the courage to be brave enough and let her feelings and trust for Tine grow to finally let her in more.
I also like to dive back into the past of Julia and describe what that made her feel, how it changed her and how it effects her feelings for Tine and the way she may or may not lets her close.
And I really just love to write them both falling in love all over again, seeing each other through their eyes, their insecurities, their possible feels and emotions and come up with new ideas and scenes to put them into.
I probably used the reference of them being each others lighthouse way too often, but I just find it so fitting for them.
I can really just hope any readers don't grow tired of the fact that I use themes, topics or feels more than once in different stories and sometimes come back to them.
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
> As far as I can think of now I'm not a big fan of anything related to science fiction regarding time jumps and shifting time and space and also not of the whole Omega/Alpha/Vampire universe so that will probably never be a thing in any of my stories.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
> Puh, I got quite a few in the pipeline and so many more ideas actually, I don't really now which one to pick 😅🙈.
First of, if you're interested and haven't yet already seen it, I have shared a pretty long snipped of an upcoming thing here.
Its part of a series of "What If" takes on every Tatort Hamburg episode from "Querschläger" on with one significant twist.
I got an idea for a story of Julia and Tine on vacation in the mountains. Possibly visting Julias father and him meeting Tine for the first time.
There is something I have planned to share after "Last Chance" is (hopefully) finished, it will be a multichapter and I'm pretty anxious to see how its received. As of now it will be titlted "Pareidolie".
I got an idea for a suprise upload for someone which I'm really very nervous about and still pondering if I really should share it 🙈.
Oh and a possible Sequel to "Last Chance" or standalone story (I haven't decided yet) in which someone finds their life at risk.
This was as always lots of fun, if anyone is interested in more, please reach out and ask 😊😉.

Sometimes I forget I'm in a science major and then I remember how many stats classes I've taken, which is wild considering how much I look at stats in my day to day and go ugh, it's a chi square test or uuuggghhh not a double fish tail test, what's the fucking alpha?? And then I continue to not deal with shit. As if I don't know how to see if an experiment is a valid experiment to quote. (Me at the conference listening to the presenter discuss the population and going hmm, that's a lil sketchy considering the topic matter I don't know if I can trust the whole results without knowing the grouping of said population even if it's still biased when considering where they got the population from. (Its a convenience sampling method))

Caffeine Anhydrous: A well-known stimulant, caffeine anhydrous boosts energy levels and metabolism. It helps increase the rate at which your body burns calories, promoting more efficient fat loss.
Yohimbine HCL: Yohimbine is known for its ability to block alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, which play a role in inhibiting fat breakdown. By blocking these receptors, yohimbine promotes the release of stored fat and increases the body’s ability to burn it for energy.
Green Tea Extract: Rich in antioxidants and catechins, green tea extract enhances fat oxidation and improves metabolic rate. It also provides a gentle energy boost without the jitters.
Synephrine HCL: A potent thermogenic, synephrine increases metabolic rate and promotes fat breakdown. It works synergistically with caffeine to enhance energy expenditure and fat burning.
